Went to Café Bella on a Saturday at 6:30pm and this place was PACKED. Had to wait over an hour for a table but it was well worth it. This place also doesn't hold reservations so just come early. If you do decide to wait there are a few tables and seats at the bar or you can just walk around at the grocery store down the block. This hidden, strip mall gem is filled with people at all times so it's quite noisy. The staff is extremely friendly. I had a few waitresses check up on us during the long wait. Outstanding service! Now lets get to the food.... Bread Basket: Their focaccia, filled with onions and peppers, is UNREAL. Some of the best I've had in Boston Tuna Carpaccio: The tuna was topped with some arugula and a splash of balsamic vinaigrette. Each bite just melted in your mouth Short Rib Rigatoni: This might be the best pasta dish I've had. The freshly made rigatoni was hand cut and was cooked to perfection. Combine it with their sauce generously filled with short rib, you can't go wrong! Love this place. Definitely worth the trip to Randolph

Thanks for Yelpers on helping me find a nice place for dinner! Traveling this week and looking for a trusted location. The location is in a small strip center and has a long bar area as you walk in. The two dining rooms have 10-12 tables each. From the first dining room, you have a small view of the kitchen. The smells are awesome and food I selected was prepared perfectly. The table bread comes in three varieties with a creamy dipping sauce. The menu has seafood, pasta, chicken and beef options. One duck dish. There were four additional items not on the menu that were mentioned. The swordfish and tuna sounded great. It is definitely a locals restaurant. The wait staff and host appears to know their guest. I was impressed with the food, the location, and the service.

300th Review!! Strip mall be damned this place was good. Once you are in the door you don't even remember that next door used to be a blockbuster. Proof that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. They have a really good wine list and the menu is small but with plenty of choices. The bread basket has a few different choices one of them was a forcaccia with caramelized onions baked in. I would have been happy with a whole loaf of that bread. We started my birthday meal out with an antipasto salad that was good but not as good as the rest of the meal My parents also enjoyed some oysters. I had a delicious carbonara dish while my father had braised short rib bolognese rigatoni and that was easily one of the better pasta dishes I've had outside of the north end in a really long time. So tasty. My mother opted for a salad. We finished off with two desserts to share a tiramisu which was ok and an slice of eggnog ricotta cheesecake which was AMAZING. A little pricey for the area but worth it for a special occasion. Service is friendly atmosphere was warm and my belly was happy.

My wife and I had a very satisfying dinner here on Halloween. We fondly remembered a visit here with our son after returning from the Cape several years ago, worn out from bumper-to-bumper traffic and famished. Caffe Bella still delivers an excellent dining experience. We started with a grilled calamari appetizer ($12.25); the most tender calamari I've ever had simply seasoned with lemon and olive oil, and gently charred. I had the duck entrée ($29.50) - a seared breast and confit leg w/ fig apricot cranberry glaze, served with sweet potato prosciutto ravioli and a frisee salad. It was a full meal. The ravioli were fantastic. I'm not a pasta fan, but the flavor and freshness of these ravioli made them so satisfying. My wife had the artichoke pasta ($19) w/ roasted red pepper, oyster mushrooms, tomatoes, capers, olives, EVOO and shaved Farmer's ricotta. Also an excellent dish. The wine list is impressive and reasonably-priced. Pours by the glass are generous. And our server eagerly offered to let me taste wines in which I expressed an interest. . Caffe Bella is not a cheap date. Many entrees near $30 and there were several well into the mid and high $30s. Despite the fancy prices, service was very casual. That could be good or bad, depending on your mood or the occasion. Note that prices on the online menu are not current. Our entrees were $1.50 more on the restaurant menu. Not a huge deal, but management should update their online presence. Lastly, I'd add that Caffe Bella décor could use an update. I heartily recommend Caffe Bella for creative, well-composed Italian dishes made with top quality ingredients. Let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.

Great food. Great quality. Great ambiance. Great service, a little slow when busy but quality of service is always great. Definitely bang for your buck. Portions are large.

My favorite Italian restaurant when traveling to the Boston suburbs for business. Great place to take customers. The handwritten menu is always being refreshed. Wonderful seafood items including fresh oysters. Must try the Spicy Sausage Flatbread pizza for an appetizer. At the holidays look for their special veal chop. But my favorite go to item every time I come is there wonderful Bolognese. Can't recommend enough just a wonderful restaurant and a wonderful staff.

My boyfriend and I were highly disappointed and will not be returning. The service was good and we were seated right away but our food was horrible. My boyfriend ordered the spicy sausage and sweet onion pizza and I ordered the creste di gallo which was extremely salty and the shrimp and pasta was overcooked and both of our dishes were room temperature and not hot. We thought it was strange how fast our dishes were brought to our table considering it was very busy but we are almost certain they must have been premade, our meals were definitely not prepared when we ordered.

I'm a new Randolph resident and have been totally disgusted with the restaurants in the area. I thought I would have to eat outside of Randolph if I wanted some good food. I was wrong. Hidden in a small plaza in between Dunkin donuts and Five Guys Burgers, there is a restaurant worth eating at. Cafe Bella: service was 5 star, the server Mark was awesome! My pork chop was the best I've ever had. I was with a party of 5. All raved about there food. We will be back soon.

North End has great Italian in Boston but this little gem 20 mins south of the city has all the right moves. Great atmosphere for a small or group business dinner, date night or a solo meal at the bar with Angel or Julie. The food is not heavy pasta cheese dishes like lasagna or chicken parm - great fresh fish, oysters, and northern Italian style food. Get the stuffed peppers(if they have then) and the sautée pan is the best - clams, mussels, sausage in a spicy red sauce with tons of garlic. Just what the doctor ordered.

  • Chris M.

Not sure we classify as regulars, but we go about as often as we go anyplace else. It never disappoints. Food is great, service is better. Any appetizer will do. Really. We have tried almost all of them at this point I would take anything the server placed before us. I love the sauté pan, and sometimes it's a meal and others for the table to share. There is almost always a rare yellow fin tuna special. It's hard not to order every time. The steak is awesome, pork and vinegar peppers too. But we usually want to get right to dessert. Chocolate biscotti and Nutella ice cream? On a flour less chocolate almond torte? Can that be delivered via IV drip?

Love this place always consistent great staff. If your looking for a cheap place this is not it but if your looking for GREAT Quality then here it is. From pizza, oysters, bread to their entrees everything is fresh even better home made desserts they don't skip anything. If your really into food you will love it same for great wines. Service always good and the managers do a great job on training here. Thank you for being in our business. Remember here is a place that will give 100% quality but it is not cheap and shouldn't be. It's in the the quality of the food. Great job!!

My family loves Cafe Bella! The food, staff and management are all 5 star. Whether I take my Dad or my Son, we have an excellent dining experience! Oh, make sure you get the oysters - the best in greater Boston!

Cafe Bella is by far one of the best restaurants on the south shore. Great wines at a fair price combined with excellent food. how could you go wrong. My advice: go early on the weeks ends because the place fills up.

Great homemade rigatoni with short ribs. My salmon was perfectly pan seared with sesame seeds accompanied by delicious lentils and a ratatouille : wow!

Don't be fooled by the strip-mall location, the quality of the food here tops anywhere south of Boston. The portions are big, as you'd expect from the suburbs, but the flavors are unexpectedly delicious. Get here early and try not to over-order. Arrive by 5:30 to ensure immediate seating (dining at the bar is great), any later and you'll probably have to wait. This place is not about meaningless fanciness for its own sake. It's about sharing amazing Italian food and good well-priced wine with friends and family. And if you live in Boston, this is worth a trip to Randolph.

This place is so good, it inspired me to sign up for yelp and post a review. The food, service, atmosphere...everything was great. Will be back many more times. A+++ all around. Try the homemade rigatoni, you won't be disappointed.

This was an excellent dining experience!! Not only was the food and service outstanding, the atmosphere was a perfect replica of dining with my Italian family. I will return if ever in the area again.

We had a wonderful meal, with great service in a somewhat loud environment. All in all, I was happy with our experience until I met the owner. This man is a true ass. He rudely dismissed my dear friend, treating her as if she was ignorant. His comment that she "must have eaten in a tourist trap" when in Italy was arrogant to say the least. Especially when she has great friends who are locals and ate in their kitchens with their families. This pompous shit thinks he knows more than his customers, treats them like children and does not deserve your hard earned money. Do yourself a favor and become a patron of a more deserving establishment.

This restaurant is great! Food quality & service is perfect. Always want to go back. Bar can be a bit crowded and it can take a while to get a drink but there are worse things in life!

Came here on a whim on a friday night and when I first walked in... i felt out of place... But then I found one seat at the bar in the crowded restaurant and I was lucky to have great bar neighbors who raved about the place. They mentioned how they are regulars and usually will come their once a week.. basically I could order anything and I would be pleased. I've been to Caffe Bella once when I was a child but i'm not sure why it took me so long to return! The bartender was straight business but extremely knowledgeable with what was going on in the kitchen... which was refreshing and impressive. I happily indulged on a special of the week which was a pork chop topped with slices of cooked macintosh apples, broccoli rabe, and the creamiest (yet slightly chunky #smile) mashed potatoes ever. It was a dish that I hope will be on their menu for good! I looked at the dessert menu but nothing really jumped out at me... my bill was about 30-35 dollars with tip and no alcoholic drinks. I would love to come back and share my awesome experience with someone else next time :)

Went here for a bday celebration! That was the best part. When they brought out a bday dessert the whole restaurant sang, this happened a few times in the night to other guests too. The food; I was surprised that I was not too happy with my meal. The veal; not done well. I would not order that again. I wasn't that impressed with the service or the food. Nothing too terrible, just not great.

Great place, great service. Big fan of the duck, which comes with delicious homemade ravioli. Had a tuna special another time which was cooked perfectly. Only once I got an entree I didn't enjoy--a short rib pasta dish. Very little short rib and too oily. The burratta app and oysters are a must try. Place is small and can get loud but it doesn't stop me from going.

I can be a cranky & finicky diner at times but I will always love love love Caffe Bella. . There is a reason they've been slammed busy for the past 20 years! Cannot sing it's praises enough. Be prepared for a very long wait on weekends as they don't accept reservations. It's fine though. Go to the Dunkin Donuts next store and get a coffee. You won't be disappointed. Every second of the wait is well worth it. There's a reason this place has been slammed busy for the past 20 years! The Bibb Lettuce Salad was hands down the best salad I've ever eaten, definitely large enough for an entree or to share. The pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly and almost too big. I had leftovers from my leftovers! Great service. Consistently excellent food.

I think this place is equal to several of the places I've tried in Boston over the last few years. The desserts especially are always stand-outs- this time we had the salted caramel gelato with shortbread cookies and the chocolate almond torte with espresso-biscotti ice cream. Really??? Add in the vibrant atmosphere, variety of fresh breads and olive oil/white bean dipping sauce at the beginning, and some of the best fish around (I had the cod special, my friend had the yellowfish tuna special. Both delicious but hers may have been one of the best pieces of fish I've ever tasted) and you really can't go wrong. Saw a scrumptious looking white pizza and also the chicken milanese go by our table (actually the chicken milanese seemed to be the most popular dish served- and looked good enough that it's what I'll definitely order next time). Drinks are cheaper than in the city which is also a plus (my Hendricks and tonic was $8.50).

Why I've lived in Randolph over 20 years and never tried this place is beyond me. Hubbie and I thoroughly enjoyed. I let our expert waitress Nicole be our tour guide and ordered her recommended duck entree. It was nothing shy of exquisite, accompanied by a butternut squash ravioli. My husband had a great vodka shrimp & pasta dish with a lovely sauce. For apps we shared lobster ravioli & Duxbury oysters, both on point, and a soup with escarole, pasta, chicken broth, and a farmers egg! We enjoyed a lovely Pinot Noir and capped the meal off with tirismasu and Lemon cheesecake, all deserts are hand made with large portions. We escaped the long wait by arriving at 5:40 (Friday eve). We will be back to try the many other exciting menu items!

My friends love this place, so when I suggested we go somewhere they've been before and liked and I haven't been to, Caffe Bella came up as a possibility. As folks familiar with the busy-ness of this place, they decided that we should aim to arrive for the first seating one Saturday evening. After dodging traffic, we made it in time to grab one of their last tables. Yes! Unfortunately it was in the dining room by the kitchen, so with the shared space with the bar and the waiting area, it got a bit tough to hear each other. My friends highly recommended the duck here, so we ended up all ordering it (although two of us decided to split an order for a $6 upcharge for added ingredients; sharing would have been free). However, we started with some fresh sweet mussels (market price; which arrived on ice with lemon, Tabasco in a cute teeny bottle, and malt vinegar [I think]) that my friends loved, an order of the appetizer cioppino $18.50, and an appetizer portion of the scallops $14 (entree portion was 4 scallops for I don't know how much). I was enjoying the mussels and clams and sausage in the tomatoey broth till I chomped on something super spicy... oops! The scallops were large and nicely seared, but perhaps a touch on the overcooked side. The food took a little longer than I expected, however, when the ducks arrived, we were surprised that the plating of the split ducks looked identical to the full entree duck! A ha! We each had half a breast hiding below our respective duck leg... but everything else looked about the same. I loved the fig from the glaze and the twin house made sweet potato prosciutto ravioli that came with the duck, but the duck itself wasn't quite served hot, which detracted from the enjoyment. For dessert, we shared the chocolate almond torte with sugar n'spice walnuts w/ espresso biscotti ice cream $7.50. Although intended otherwise, the ice cream and the sweet walnuts ended up being the stars of the plate. When exiting the establishment, be careful! There's a step!

Went here for dinner a week or so ago, just because when walking past one night, the smell was fantastic. So, one evening in we went. Greeted quickly and seated at a table near wine racks full of wine. How convenient...I should have brought my opener. This is one of those places where you almost want to dress up and make it an occasion, but don't have to if you don't want to. While I am a fan of La Scalla as an old school Italian eatery, this is the opposite, Caffe Bella is fresh Mediterranean tastes brought to Randolph. The Menu is a little difficult to read, as it is in a 'hand written' font and there isn't a great defining descriptor. That being said, it's a good solid menu and there should be something for everyone. It was tough to narrow down what i wanted as the are a lot of good choices. The food that came out was all delicious, no doubt. The wine list is fairly large and has something for every taste and budget. We settled on simple Chianti in an affordable price range and it was tasty enough to enjoy without breaking the bank. For desert I wanted a cheese plate, and even though it's not on the menu, they accommodated and it was HUGE. Will we return...Heck Yeah.

My father discovered this place when it first opened. Have not been here in awhile maybe ten years until 9-5-2012. Still great! My girlfriend calls me the 'Grim Eater' due to my exacting culinary standards. This place is Grim Eater Approved. You can use my standard as sort of a Michelin Guide for Massachusetts, so indulge. I had the sausage and red peppers, very Italian, and perfectly completed. Paired with a knockout Montepulciano d'Abbruzzo that was like drinking liquid velvet. My GF had the Salmon that I must confess I did not try, but she assures me it was terrific. Our friend had the pork tenderloin with the vinegar potatoes, an old favorite here that never disappoints. Portions were hearty- peasant size - enough for lunch the next day. Quality is high here so don't let the portion remark put you off. We live in downtown Boston, so the pricing was relatively cheap compared to restaurants of this caliber in the city. Also the service is friendly and quite competent. The only issue I have is that it is not close enough! I would go here once a week if it was in Boston, but it is worth a drive. Grim Eater Approved.

I have been to cafe Bella a good amount of times. It says a lot when you can go to a place on a semi regular basis and not get bored with it. Great menu and very good service. After a few trips almost the whole staff recognizes me and comes by to say hello, etc. The appetizer olives and dip is something to look forward to. I'm a sucker for the veal Milanese but sometime venture out if they have a lamb or lobster dish. Also, try to blossoms they are sick!

Did I mention that I love Caffe Bella? I came here for dinner on Valentine's Day expecting it to be packed (which it was) but with plenty of tables available in the bar area we were promptly served. What I love about Caffe Bella is their ever changing menu! Their chef always has something new and creative to add every time I go. That night I chose duck for the main course and it was out of this world! I never knew this but they ask how you want your duck to be cooked, similar to a steak. Oddly enough I had my duck "medium" as recommended and the meat was moist and falling off the bone. I couldn't begin to tell you what the sauce was like but the whole meal took me back to when I was in Paris... a very flavorful, saucy Parisian flare in my opinion. There was a side of ravioli that seemed out of place but my taste buds were screaming for more. The meal unfortunately was so filling I couldn't even have desert besides the fact that I probably had about a half dozen pieces of bread before the main course. The staff is usually friendly, although sometimes because they are so busy you have to remind them for the basics (silverware, sugar etc.). This is one of my favorite restaurants on the South Shore.

I kept avoiding this place because of the locations,....but I finally tried it. I have to say,..I'm in love! I keep going back, and often! The food is fantastic! Fresh, tastey, well prepared,....love it. And the staff are ALL very very nice!,

Don't let strip mall location fool you, if you are looking for a nice Italian meal this is the place. Service, wine, food were all amazing. Get the lamb shank if it is available, it's pretty great. Only possible drawback is that you may have to wait for a table on weekends, but there is a reason for that. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for....Caffe Bella is well worth it

I have dined in Italy and the North End in Boston and at many fabulous Italian restaurants, but I must tell you the Caffe Bella in a little "hide-a-way" corner mall in Randolph MA is one of my favorite dining experiences ever. I have dined here at least 8 times. I live in Portland Maine which also has excellent dining (and I have chosen the best restaurants in Manhattan, LA and DC). I just want to be clear that I know what I'm talking about. Caffe Bella has exquisitely fresh seafood (I always have at least a dozen oysters on the half shell [Year-round], amazingly tender and fresh grilled Calamari, beautiful preparations of fresh fish (locally caught) and vegetables straight from the local farms). You've got to try the Zucchini blossoms when they're in season, and of course the Caprese when tomatoes are in season. Even in the winter, Caffe Bella somehow obtains the freshest produce that tastes homegrown. I have also enjoyed the lamb which is cooked to perfection (one of my favorites is the giant white Lima beans). Be sure to try the skillet with fresh clams, mussels and sausage but save room for the hand cut fresh pasta dishes and wood fired delicacies! I'm not kidding. I'm a huge fan and I make a pilgrimage here whenever I'm in a 30 mile radius!

A consistently good restaurant serving up fresh pasta dishes, yummy pizzas and delicious salads. They clearly care about the quality of what they are serving and the service is above par. A nice atmosphere with a casual feel. The kind of place that somehow keeps you in your seat for dessert and a cappuccino even though you're full. Go for the stuffed figs if they are on the menu.

How have I lived within 1 mile of this place for the last 3 years, and not have been here? The atmosphere was a little weird at first....there were quite a few people who were staring at us....but that must have been because we were the best looking ladies there ;) We had a very good glass of wine at the bar (there are several options available by the glass). Once we were seated, the dinner went very smoothly....the service was knowledgeable and unobtrusive. The food was excellent, my potatoes were a little too buttery for my taste (but I'm not really complaining)...My fish was cooked perfectly. Their menu is quite extensive for such a small restaurant.... I will be back for sure!

Don't let the outside fool you, yes this place is in a strip mall and yes the Italian dishes rank up there with the north end of Boston except you can actually find parking here. Try- The Antipasto app. or beef carpaccio, bolognese pasta (hand made pasta by the way) or the Scallops. Only reason i didn't give this place 5 stars is because the menu is a bit hard to read due to the crowded handwriting.. not that big of a deal though. Every time I've dined here it has been with a large group of people (about 10) and even though it is a small place they are accommodating and everyone always enjoys their dinner.

Seriously my stomach was so happy when I left here. My mom and I went here last night, started with the fried calamari was delicious... wish they tossed it with those banana peppers but that's just a personal preference. My mom and I both ordered the Bolognese (sp?) with the handmade pasta. There are not words to express how amazingly delicious this dish was. For desert the Tirimisu. Hands down the best tirimisu I've EVER had and I am a desert SNOB. This place is expensive though, save it for a special occasion because for two people you are not coming out with a bill less than 65.00 more if you have drinks.

  • Ariana G.

Some of the food was ok, some good. Started with the oysters, they were fresh and great! Had the bolognese and it was just ok. The pasta was undercooked and the sauce had sat on the stove too long. And the Tiramisu... not so much. There is soaked and there is soggy. This was the latter. My partner in crime had the pork tenderloin. It was good, the mashed potatoes were yummy and the portion was gigantic. Our server was not the best.

Started with a salad, it was large, though I didn't find the dressing to be a cesar salad. So 4 stars for size, and three for an ok large salad. Didn't have enough cheese, which they immediately brought. Went on to mussels with clams in a broth with superb sweet sausage. The server, Mike, who is excellent, said it'd be the best I've had. IT wasn't, but it was good. Lots of mussels and clams. The broth was ok. The bread sticks were very good. We didn't buy wine, which I've gotten sick of spending, in general $8.00 or more for a 5-7 oz pour. But I had a bud for $3.50. It was served in a chilled glass, which was good. It's a busy place, but we came early. So, service is excellent, [the servers are all in nice fitting jeans, which I don't like] bread good, mussels a little better than ok [but priced at $19, which is high]. Would I go back? Not sure, unless they had a bargain night, or a groupon.

Great atmosphere and good food. I had the special: cranberry-apricot salmon. The salmon was a little bit overcooked for my taste, but overall pretty good. The cranberry-apricot glazed definitely highlighted the salmon. The plate came with some greens and potato wedges. The greens were very good, but the potato wedges were very stale and rubbery. (They weren't the main attraction of the dish, so I didn't mind.) The stuffed figs were delicious; no complaints about this dish. Service was good. The server we had was on the older side so she gave her other tables more attention since my guest and I were in our early 20's. I've noticed that the others servers (younger) paid more attention to ALL of their tables. B- quality service is the reason why I rated this place 3-stars instead of 4-stars. I love the fact that the menu was handwritten; gave me the more "local" feel of the place. Probably wouldn't be the first place that I would choose to go back for dinner, but I wouldn't object if one of my friends suggested it. P.S. The night that I went, the chef occasionally came out of the kitchen and checked out the dining room to see how the guests were liking the food. Very nice gesture.

I have been there once, the chicken I ordered smelled bad. When I told my waitress that I thought the chicken was bad, they told me that because they use all natural chicken. If that is the case, the chicken shouldn't have an odd odor to it. I feel that I have eaten enough chicken in my life to know when the chicken has gone bad. Never again, YUCK!!!

I went there for the first time...after living in the area for years. I was really disappointed... first off...isn't it restaurant 101 to warm up the bread??? my expectations were really high. I love good italian food but it just didn't do it for me. The food wasn't bad but it was nothing spectacular either. the menu was very limited as well. expensive for no reason! meal for 3 over $80 - that's without drinks!

I have never had a bad meal at Cafe Bella. The food is inventive and tasty. Hard to believe you are at a strip mall in Randolph. One of the biggest negatives about Cafe Bella is its size. It is a small restaurant and gets EXTREMELY crowded on a weekend night. 90 minute waits are not unheard of. The bar is tiny. While the food is very good,if not excellent, I often find myself saying no to the idea of going there on a weekend because of the wait. If there was a larger bar area, I would probably go more often. The weeknights are a different story.

I love Cafe Bella! The food was phenomenal, the service was great, and the atmosphere was very cozy. My good friend Janice brought me here one night after work for some bevys and I fell in love with it. We were greeted with a warm smile and our server brought us a bread basket, fettuccine and oil for dipping, and olives. I love olives! We started off with a couple of glasses of Chianti. Then we ordered the stuffed figs with prosciutto to start. The figs were delish! They were stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese. We moved along quickly to the special of the night which was the ravioli. The ravioli's were good it melted in your mouth. We ended our dinner with a pan of mussels, clams, and sausages in a light tomato sauce. It was the most delish meal that I have had in a long time. I loved it so much I took my boyfriend there the following night. The place was a bit pricey but definitely worth it. The place gets packed on the weekends, so I would definitely recommend going one evening during the week. Two thumbs up for Cafe Bella!

Great food, huge portions, and a cute atmosphere. A very nice surprise for an out of town visitor on a business trip. Bummed I couldn't try the wine list, but will definitely do that next time I'm in Randolph. Highly recommend this place...get the veal!

I was a bit leery of Caffe Bella because of it's location in a strip mall in Randolph. (Yes, I live in Randolph but let's just say it isn't exactly the fine dining hub of MA.) However, my hesitation quickly abated with a full, happily buzzing restaurant and a warm welcome from the hostess. We were seated in a corner table for two, next to two large parties who were having a great time yet not overtaking the place with their conversation. The date and goat cheese salad was awesome and a highly recommend it! My meal was very good, but I can not for the life of me remember what it was. Hubby had the pork and was very happy with it. We skipped dessert, but did partake in a very well-priced bottle of red during the meal- a decent recommendation from the waitress. I am looking forward to going back to Caffe Bella soon for the warm atmosphere and surprisingly good food!

i think that my review will be the only non glowing review in the bunch which is crazy to me. We went here on a weekday night after I had a craving for Italian food and searched yelp for a suggestion. Since Cafe Bella had glowing reviews, we headed there. We were placed at a 2 seater table that was right to the kitchen. The space was very cramped and we felt very uncomfortable. I hated the menus. It was about 4 pages and the whole thing was hand written in capital letters. Maybe being in training and knowing too much about how peoples minds work and how they perceive things was too much for this place but they apparently had not heard any of these tips. i couldn't focus on the menu at all let alone read most of it. I was the mood for something traditional and unfortunately, nothing on this 4 page menu boasted anything of the sort. I understand gourmet food and trying to be different but lets at least have 1 or 2 things that the average person could eat. I settled on the lobster raviolis which I thought was surprisingly underpriced. The waitress then informed me that they were an appetizer. I got it anyways since I had no intentions of spending $30.00 on a meal at a place in a strip mall in Randolph. L got short ribs I believe. Both meals came out and neither were very good. We spent the rest of the meal laughing at how ridiculous our time there had been and L vowed never to let me pick a new place to go again.

Had a really delicious dinner here. It was easy to park. It was packed but we were able to take a seat at one of the bar tables and get served right away. We had pork chop and scallops and both were wonderfully complex and yummy. I liked that the menu was designed around the availability of quality food ie the veggies were fresh and flavorful. My glass of Syrah was really nice. Service was attentive, and we had a fun introduction to the owner/chef and maitre'd. It's definitely pricier than we usually do but didn't regret the money at all since the food and experience was so nice.

Deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! This restaurant was a complete surprise. After trekking around Ikea we needed some food and happened upon Cafe Bella. Don't let it's location (in a strip mall) fool you, this is a real restaurant with quality food. Nicely decorated, they seated us immediately and have a good wine selection. The menu is a bit pricey, and also a bit limited....I am allergic to peppers and don't love seafood so I didn't end up with a lot to choose from (but... I was also being a bit cheap and didn't want to spend 25 - 30 on dinner that night). If I had planned on spending more money, there was more to choose from, and I will probably go back to try out the steak. I ended up with the bolognese. Wow. Amazing home-made papparadelle, very tasty sauce with a lot of meat. They also serve a great selection of breads to munch on before the food is served.

My husband and I love this place. We go once a year on our anniversary. I'd love to go more, but it's just very pricey! If I was rich, I'd go two times a week! We usually always get a special and it's always delicious! The place is very small but very nicely decorated and the staff is always extremely nice. I've never had to wait..only because we've always gone in early around 5:00 pm. I love the bread you get before the meal and love that the cokes come in glass bottles. This is by far, one of my favorite restaurants! I love the whole chicken and the lamb is so delicious!! You can't beat the food!!

GREAT FOOD!! My favorite dish is the butternut squash Raviollis, yummmyyyy!!! This is my favorite Local italian restaurant from where I live. The food is great, I would give it a 5 star but it's got a problem with NOISE!! VERY LOUD!! small small bar as well! Over all very good, just wish I could come in alone and get a seat at the bar and have my dinner but like I said way to small.

See Donna at the bar, fantastic service and the food was fantastic.I recommend the espresso martini! This is a small restaurant and the wait runs about a hour, if you can deal with that you will love it.

I have been going to Cafe Bella since they have opened. Over the years I have gone less and less mainly because I have seen a decline in the quality of food. The service has always been top notch and still is but three out of four dishes we got for our main course were bland, over cooked and totally forgettable. To think a restaurant cannot get a dish perfect after serving it so many times is crazy. When you rest on your laurels you will fail and this last time is the final time we will go to Cafe Bella. I feel bad in that I always looked forward to going there for great food and it is not the case anymore and hasn't been for a while. I tried to give it another shot and was hoping I was wrong but I am not. Again, the staff and owner have always been cordial and kind to me but I don't go out to eat to make friends, I have plenty of those. Hopefully they can turn it around but unfortunately I won't ever know.

I love the food here. There is a broad selection of breads always. The calamari is very consistent, flavorful, and crisp without feeling undercooked. The pizza here is almost as good as Al Forno's (of Providence). The portions are friendly without being insane. I haven't hit a main course that I didn't like. The service is brisk. The waits can get long, so I always call ahead. When I was a kid, we've seen waits of 3 hours here... on like a Wednesday. Now, it's a little over an hour on a Thursday the last time we went a few months ago for a party of 2. The herbs are mostly, if not entirely grown by the owner. The only things I like not is the tightness of the restaurant and thus, ambient noise. It is difficult to talk there and it feels a bit confining. However, overall, it is a good, solid restaurant for taking a handful friends or relatives to or an occasional date. Just don't come here for a first date... unless you both know sign language. Dishes to try: The bread (with white bean and parsley bread dip), calamari, grilled pizza)

Don't let the strip mall fool you, this place is a gem. There is a lot of warmth in this place and it comes through in every part of the experience. Romantic dining room atmosphere, friendly knowledgeable servers and fantastic food. Portions and great and the variety of items makes you want to come back to try them all. It is worth a drive from anywhere in the south shore / southeastern Mass area.

Eh, Caffe Bella. My boyfriend and I were in the area and craving Italian, so we decided to check this place out. All I wanted was chicken parm, which Caffe Bella did not serve, so needless to say I was a little disappointed with that. The dip they gave us for the bread was also FREEZING cold - room temp or a lukewarm would have done it much greater justice. Regardless of the downfalls, however, the pasta carbonera I ordered was really, really good, and my bf's bolognese was quite tasty as well. I definitely won't be aching to come back, but it was good in a pinch.

I've been here 5 or 6 time w/various family members. I always come away impressed. Love the menu! Hint - don't bring out of town relatives here who think Italian food consists solely of spaghetti & meatballs or pizza--you wont find either served here. Great wine list and wonderful servers. Not what you'd expect from a strip mall in Randolph!

The waitstaff is alway amazing, friendly and there just when you need them. I highly recommend going here, it really is a great place! Oh and if they have blueberry cheesecake on the menu, GET IT!!!!

Nestled in the suburbs of Randolph is this hidden treasure which will guarentee a satifying experience. Quite the surprise considering it could totally take on any of the best restaurants in Boston, yet it's located 25 miles away. As soon as you enter the restaurant you immediately feel cozy. Dark lighting with candles at the tables, dark oak wood work, fresh vegetables displayed with freshly baked loaves of bread, the tangy smells of good 'ole Italian cooking that would make my great great greats proud. As soon as you are seated - you are greeted by a friendly wait staff serving you bread with hummus, They are courteous (without being overbearing - I hate that) helpful and attentive. They walk you through the specials of the day, take your drink order, recommend a selection of wines and give you some time (just enough) to review the menu. When they come back with your drinks you'll be ready to order. The nice thing about this restaurant is that they offer a seasonal menu, so even if you are a regular such as moi, you will not feel like same old, same old. I've never had a bad meal, but I do have my favorite (unfortuantely I can't eat anymore - darn shell fish allergy) which I need to recommend. It's on the appetiser menu and is Mussels in a spicey red broth. Big enough for a meal. Picture this - mussels, clams, spicy Italian sausage and HUGE cloves of garlic covered in a red spicy broth. Served with garlic bread. MMMMM, mmmmm! Other recommendations for app's would be the Ceasar salad, pizza, and raw oysters (not available any "J" month), for dinner the Mussels, Pork Tenderloin, Seared Tuna and Chicken with Pasta. Again anything you pick will be phenom, but these are some of my favorites. Ofcourse do not go with out dessert. Although after you get through the generous portions of app's and dinner you may need to share. I highly recommend the Creme Brulee or the Capuccino Icecream. If you do luck out and get a seat at the bar which is first come first serve, I'd recommend eating there. Same quality service, just without the wait. Pick a night Angel is there and you'll be sure to have a fantastic night - not to mention one hell of a hangover. Ha Ha! One other note about this place is they are not stingy with the alcohol. A mixed drink is tasty and will for sure have more booze than mixer which is how they all shold be made. The only caveats is that they do not take reservations unless you have a party of 6 or more, the wait can be up to 1 hour, and it's expensive. The wait will be worse on the busiest nights - Wednesday through Saturday. If you can go to the restaurant knowing this upfront and just enjoy your company and well poured drinks while you wait , it is so worth it. Great location for first date, birthdays, night out with friends. Enjoy! I always do!!!

I love love love the food here. A-ok. And the staff is pretty attentive but very very fast paced. (blink and their gone). The location isn't really ideal. Its a hole-in-the-wall and you have to wait a longgggggg time to be seated unless your lucky-- or a small party that you just suck it up and eat at the bar. But I digress. The food is amazing. They aren't open every day, so beware. Oh and the bill is high. Always. I end up spending $100+ each time I go. So bring your appetite and your wallet. :)

Friends have raved about the place for years, so I had an opportunity to try it on Saturday, October 13. We waitied 65 minutes after our our movie ended. I hate eating early, but was told it was well worth it. It did not disappoint. The greeting at the door and subsequently by our fabulous waitress, Alicia, carried through the entire evening. It filled fast as I had been told is the case. The fried calamari was superb and the salads huge and beautifully presented....not sure if any dressing made it on to mine as it had little evidence, but the addition of some balsamic vinegar sealed the deal. I had the pan fry served in a steaming skillet as a follow up course. Large and abundant, but a little heavy on the sausage and sadly some mussels that never opened. It was delcious and spicy, but over salted....way over. I loved the spicyness, but the salt and possibly too much garlic was a less than subtle. I personally would have preferred rustic, classic Italian bread with burned crusts for dipping instead of the highly oiled and seasoned bruschetta The tiramisu was superb, as was the espresso ice cream....all in all a delightful experience. I came anticipating an inexpensive, simple restaurant with basic food. This was more expensive and more creative than expected. The attitude won me over first and foremost. Upon leaving around 7.15pm, I was amazed at the crowd waiting for tables and the jammed bar. It did seem like a second bartender would have been a good addition.....maybe I saw it as a bad moment. Lots of unsightly dishes and utensils needed to be cleared . All in all, a fun place.....I would certainly return, in spite of the schlep from the South End. More than the food, it was the overall attitude that I loved....and that to me is 51 percent of the equation.....

Birthday Dinner tonight was great. My duck was perfect, others at table had Salmon, Veal and Rack of Lamb all great. Service super friendly and waterglasses never empty. Dessert awesome! Chocolate Torte with spice sugared nuts and Espresso Ice Cream. Only downside espresso with dessert was bitter and very small portion. AMbiance, a little loud, was a busy Saturday night.

As a former resident of Randolph, MA. I like to go back and visit from time to time. I decided I would take my fiancé to Cafe Bella in Randolph for some Italian food which is her favorite Cuisine. I have always heard good things about Cafe Bella but never ventured there before, I knew going there would make it a special Valentine's Day dinner. That night I was running late and my fiancé had already order appetizers and by the looks of her a couple glasses of wine. I notice she was chit-chatting with another couple who claimed to be regulars. They assured us we were in for a treat and they were right. The food was fabulous, the calamari as my fiancé would put it, was cooked to perfections the bread was warm and fresh served with white bean and olive oil dip. My mixed grill sausages and bliss potatoes were just fantastic; she had Shrimp & pasta and was very satisfied. All in all the portions were pretty good sized, which is a good thing seeing I have a large appetite. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It's looks like we found a hidden Jewell tucked away in a strip mall in Randolph. Now I have more of a reason to visit the old neighborhood

3.5 stars. Romantic little Italian restaurant in a Randolph strip mall. Six of us showed up unannounced on a Monday evening and only waited a few minutes to be seated. Did not experience the long waits, noisy room or spotty service I have heard rumors about. Dining out on Monday does have it's advantages. Started with some great crusty Italian bread with a dipping oil mixed with a white bean spread. The house Cabernet was very good. I began with an appetizer of roasted figs stuffed with Gorgonzola on a bed of prosciutto drizzled with honey and balsamic vinegar. Tasted as good as it sounds but I wished for more fig. I chose the yellow fin tuna entree seared accompanied by various vegetables and potatoes. The tuna was very good, the vegetables and potatoes were bland. Others in the group raved about the Duxbury oyster appetizers and were satisfied with their salads and entrees. Worth a visit if you don't want to deal with North End parking.

i have to say from the start that i have been going to cafe bella since it opened and recently brought my niece who is 11, and i have to say everyone was incredibly warm and patient with the time we needed for her to understand what was avalable and by the end of the dinner one of the owners had made his way over, which he does do with all the customers if possible, and we all had a good laugh at her telling him he makes the prettiest pizza (and it is deliciuosly perfect). though she thoroughly enjoyed the duck, prochuto ravioli, and rib eye steak her favorite was the deserts.... when you go you have got to save room for one of their truely incredible deserts... we had an incredible riccotta cheese cake with fresh blueberries pressed into the top(amazingly perfect) and their strawberry tartlett- mounds of fresh sliced strawberries on vanilla cream custard filled tart shell.... and i have to say the left overs don't always make it to lunch

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
