I am enthusiastic about all of my wedding vendors, but I am most thankful to Margaret and everyone else at La Fete for everything they did for us in the year we worked together to make our wedding happen. Margaret is a truly amazing woman, and if you are having your wedding in the Boston area, you should really do everything you can to use her. Our wedding would not have been the success it was if we had not found her. Margaret managed the logistical challenges of dealing with long distance wedding planning (my fiance and I were living in California at the time and my mother in Texas) with grace and phenomenal organization. Every time I spoke with her, I felt calmer and more confident. Even though she was so organized and professional, Margaret was also amazingly creative and helped us design a delicious and interesting meal and was very respectful of our budget. She really took the time to understand where we were coming from and what we wanted. We carefully discussed every detail -- from service style to linens and plates, relying on Margaret's years of experience but also experimenting with new ideas. We served a four-course meal, with some items served table side, some plated behind the scenes, and some with family style sides. We even had a cheese course that our guests raved about. She also has a wonderful staff (including her husband, an amazing chef, and Kim, her fabulous bar manager). Many catering companies just hire college kids or artists looking for part-time, flexible work, but Margaret does not. Her staff were so professional, calm and helpful. They were as attentive and organized than waiters and waitresses at fine restaurants. My husband loves well-made cocktails, and he was so happy and impressed with the bar tending service we received -- all of the vintage cocktails that we wanted were individually prepared with all the flourishes and details he wanted. Margaret was also an amazing "day of" person -- managing all of our other vendors' deliveries, setting up menus, placecards, gift baskets, etc., and making sure that everything went smoothly from start to finish. She was there for the entire night, directing her staff and overseeing everything from the plating to making sure that as the bride I had enough water and enough time to eat! Margaret has been in the wedding business for so long that she also really knows the other vendors in Boston. I'm convinced that one of the reasons our wedding was such a success was that we went with so many vendors that Margaret recommended. She really was not just pushing her friends -- she told us who was good and who was not, and really steered us to the best people around. And on top of all that (and most importantly) the food was absolutely delicious. I was so, so happy with it. So many guests told me it was the best wedding food they'd ever had (and one even said it was the best meal he'd ever had!). My husband and I love food and it was so important to us that our guests have a great meal -- I couldn't have been happier with how things turned out. In short, if at all possible, you should use La Fete for your wedding! I simply can't say enough good things about them!!
