I've eaten here quite a bit over the years. They've added a gluten free menu recently and I have to say that it is a little below average. The gluten free pasta is cooked in the same water as the regular pasta. Really? What's the point of even serving gluten free if that's the case? The chicken that us used can be trimmer a little better or they need to use higher quality chicken. I will say that the veal is quite good. The staff can be quite rude at times, especially the father and one if the daughters. The mother is quite pleasant.

I love this place! It's not really the best for a sit down meal unless you are just grabbing lunch because it's super casual but the food is outstanding, my family and I have never had a bad meal here. The pizza is awesome, the sauce is insanely good, the rolls and every meal are so good! This may sound really weird but the house made creamy italian dressing is addictive, it's tangy and creamy and I just love the salads there. Can't go wrong for take out plus the prices are really great!

Sooooo good. The food here is excellent every time, the portions are huge and the prices are great. It is a very casual, family friendly restaurant with almost a local deli type vibe. The staff is super friendly and helped my friend and I with our menu selection. The cooks are right behind the counter and your food is brought to you as soon as they finish making it. I will definitely be returning.

My girlfriend and I went to Linguine's a few weeks ago based on previous reviews and good word of mouth. We were not disappointed and will certainly return. The two of us started with beers (Peronis), priced more than appropriately. Glasses and bottles of wine are well below their restaurant value, a very solid offering for the price point. We then got the garlic bread, which they warn is very garlicky. It was, and we were quite happy about it, we love garlic. We then ordered two special dishes, the Homemade Bracciole and Egglant Riccio. Both were red sauce items as we wanted to try it out. The portion sizes were huge, and the prices were fantastic! Both came in at ~$12, and were well worth the price. The Bracciole was very much so authentic, although it tasted like the sauce was added on after instead of baked in it for a little. The Egglant Riccio was absolutely delicious. Wrapped with spinach and proscuitto, the dish was delicious. In all honesty, we were not huge fans of the red sauce. It was without a doubt homemade though, which is very important. We did notice a lot of people ordering dishes with white sauces though, that is our next dishes to try. What really stood out is the operation and the authenticity of the restaurant. You walk in and know this is a Mom and Pop operation. Definitely family owned and family operated, a huge plus. The walls have pictures of sports players, old world Italian signage, and the menu is written above the counter, love it! Wait and bus staff are extremely kind and helpful. They really buzz around taking care of all the tables. Not only do they take your order, but they want to get to know who you are, what you do, they are generally interested in maintaining your business and getting repeat customers. One of senior people there grew up in the North End, and was more than happy to talk shop about where is good and not so go to get pastries (I like that)! Overall, we were quite happy with our meal, the atmosphere, and the service. We will be back, quite often.

I LOVE Linguine's! Small authentic Italian restaurant. One of the only ones around that has braciole! Lunch is self serve which is super convenient if you work in the area. Great food at great prices!

Nothing fancy, but excellent Italian fare. Very friendly staff. Fast service. Just don't try to order something not on the menu - they don't handle that well.

Linguine's is what it is as they say, and they are good at it. It is a basic red sauce Italian place with pizza. They make everything in house and most of what I have tried has been good. I enjoy the pizza very much, as well as the veal pizziola (lots of garlic in the sauce, not a date food) the bracciole is very good as well. The service is hit or miss, they seem to usually be understaffed and when it gets busy the service can be slow and curt. Also, it is a family restaurant (read lots of kids) so if you want a quiet romantic dinner, this won't meet your needs. However if you want a good meal where your kids can be themselves this fits the bill nicely.

My family and I love Italian food. Shortly after we moved to Marlborough Linguini's opened. We come here about once a month. First, the price of food is quite inexpensive. I typically get a muscles appetizer with red (marinara) sauce. The muscles are quite numerous and the price excellent ($7). I often get a glass of red wine, followed by their Frutti deMare ($14). The Frutti deMare includes large amounts of muscles, scallops, calamari, and shrimp. Both the appetizer and deMare are quite good. As I'm low carb, I typically order this with broccoli instead of the pasta - no problem. My wife typically gets pasta with a vodka, cream sauce. The portions are quite good (we typically have left-overs) and the prices exceptional. Lets just say that the owner kept his prices down by avoiding table cloths and expensive art. Many would regard it as an upscale pizza joint. However, although it is good (I had a slice or two), we've always ordered entrees, not pizza. So do most people. The service is excellent. We know our waitress so well that all it takes is a small nod of my head and my order goes in. After 15 years, we know the owner, his wife, his brother (wait-staff), his two daughters (waitresses), and his grandson (when he's home from college). Its that kind of place. The food is always hot (you can see it prepared and placed for pick-up) and fast. Soda refills, etc. are free and quickly available from the roving wait-staff. Con: The only negative I can say about the place is they confuse hot (including fra diavolo dishes) with adding jalapenos. I once asked about cayenne pepper - nope, none in the kitchen, although they provide shakers of crushed red pepper. I unhesitatingly give this place 5 stars. Its a wonderful family run, inexpensive, but very good Italian restaurant.

The pizza is terrific, but my favorite dish is the angel hair with pesto. The portions are really big, too. I can make two meals out of one order.

Linguine's is a no-frills, family-friendly place. It's definitely very casual, but my fiance and I tend to go there for nice nights out anyway because the food is so delicious. Everything we've had there has been wonderful - I highly recommend the gnocchi, and we have also enjoyed the spaghetti & meatballs and the lasagna. My only tip is to not fill up too much on the bread - although it's ok, the dinners are much more yummy, and the portions are huge! We always have at least 1, if not 2, lunches' worth of leftovers with each meal.

Awesome home town Italian cooking at its best! Mama mia! What a fantastic home style Italian place for yummy food so close to the hotel. Had the pizza with pepperoni, anchovy, mushroom as well as chicken parm and cappachino ice cream. Not fancy schmancy place but tasty food and not bad prices outweigh this. Only thing is wish they delivered but they have take out so all good. Delish!

Hop on Rte 20, pass a little red structure with a condemned builing beside it and you have Linguines. Been here a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. Will not win any awards for ambience, but the menu is deep, food comes quickly, and the specials are solid. Salads, pizza, and meatball lasgana are all recommended. Prices are very reasonable too.

We've lived in the area near Linguine's for 20 years now. It wasn't there when we move to the area, but when it opened up, it took a few years of driving by to finally muster up the courage to walk in, at the suggestion of our neighbor who raved about it. Reason being, it looks like a plain Old West prison from the outside, suggesting nothing more exotic than generic spaghetti and meatballs. We've been going there for years, and I can honestly say it's one of our favorite all-time restaurants. Maybe because our kids grew up loving the food there, that we didn't feel like we were dragging them there just so we (the adults) could get our fix. Over the years we've come to really appreciate the low prices, high quality and generous portions. Dishes like the Chicken Salvia or Chicken Gamberi (one with sage, the other with prosciutto, both in a butter/wine/lemon sauce), the bracciole (rolled stuffed flank steak), the broccoli rabe, the Eggplant Riccio (my favorite; grilled eggplant slices rolled with prosciutto, spinach and cheese), the Italian cold cut calzones, the homemade lobster ravioli, and last but not least the amazing meatballs & red sauce. If you enjoy a thick, pasty, heavy sauce, look elsewhere; this is more of the thinner, fruity, garlicky variety. Very much the way I like my red sauce. The pizzas are decent. But they've never blown me away as something that I had to have. Then again, I have very high standards for pizza that only places like Max & Leo's in Newton Corner can live up to. And my own :-) Part of the fun going there is the banter with the Linguine's family. Mama & Papa Linguine are both gruff & no-nonsense, usually found manning the phone & cash register, are always entertaining. The two head waitresses, oozing with sass, are amazing. I've never seen anyone work harder. They've since expanded the staff to keep up with the demand, but I don't suspect any plans for expansion are in the works. It looks like they're content to keep things small and controlled. I can't say enough good things about this place. In the 15 years or so that we've been eating there, we've never had a single poor meal, and we look forward to eating there for many more to come.

As previous posters mentioned, it's a casual place. The food is great, though! I'm a big fan of the pizza, the meatballs are great, and the pasta dishes have never disappointed. Definitely recommended, as long as you're totally prepared for a very casual bite. I will say that there are some quirks? Not being able to order a Greek salad with grilled chicken for dinner (when it's freely available for lunch) seems strange, no?

Oh so disappointed. Just went to Linguine's for the 3rd time. The 1st and 2nd were fantastic. The 3rd really was not. The awesome eggplant parmesan is now limp, watery, and substandard. I asked at the counter and was informed nothing had changed which I know not be true (also one of my guests had been there with me previously & had the same observation). Perhaps today was a bad day but I'll not be returning. :-(

Got into my hotel and pulled up yelp for a dinner option, and this one looked good. Checked the website before heading over, which said they closed at 9pm. Got there about 8:25, so I figured I'd be fine. First thing the waitress said (who I gathered was the owner's daughter) was, the kitchen closes in 2 minutes, so can you order fast? I probably would have left, but I already had ordered a glass of wine from the host. So I ordered fast- went with the Chicken Salvia, and overheard her apologize to the annoyed cook as she gave him the order. Not a good sign. Took about 3-4 minutes to bring my food out- a plate of cut-up chicken breast in a pool of lemon butter, topped with a well done piece of prosciutto and some cheese. The chicken tasted like it was boiled rather than sauteed...not good at all. The red sauce on the side of ziti tasted canned. Waitress came by after about 5 minutes and said, "you ok?" Not much you can say to that other than yes. Shortly after I put my napkin on the plate and called it a night. So bottom line, either the food is bad all the time, or they made it especially bad for me because they wanted to close the kitchen. Either way, I really wish I'd have gone to Chipotle instead.

Looked at from the understanding that this is cafeteria-style Italian, Linguine's is great. It is not fine Italian, so don't expect 7 course meals, candlelight, and a 3lb pile of spaghetti composed of only one noodle which you and your date eat by starting at opposite ends and finish with a kiss. Come here for lunch and expect to be back at your desk in an hour or less. The specials are good but tend to go quickly. Butternut Squash Ravioli are served in a cream sauce which is made to order, so expect to wait a few minutes for it - but the wait is worth it. Portions are hearty, so don't be shocked if you take some home with you. I recommend Linguine's as a fast, well-priced, tasty lunch locale.

It's a lame atmosphere but everything else is great. It seems to be all homemade delicious food. My favorite is the lobster ravioli. Fun to just split a bottle of wine and have great Italian food and conversation.

I recently moved to the area and was looking for good Italian restaurant. I came across Linguini's, let's just say the outside appearance is definitely deceiving! From first glance I expected high quality food and a better up keeping. It was more like a run down pizza joint. As far as the quality of food.... I ordered the chicken picatta, it was the most disgusting meal I have ever had. #1 it came out with thick chicken, no breading, and already cut for me. #2 there was absolutely no lemon flavor #3 it was more like a soup than a pasta dish. I took one bite, and that was the end for me.#4 I now officially have a fear of chicken!!!! To top it off to try and was down the disgusting flavor my soda flat!!

We were driving through New England and our traveling companion mentioned this restaurant. As it turned out, we passed through Marlborough at dinner time, so we dropped in. When you walk in, Linguine's looks like another anonymous pizza joint. Beneath the unassuming surface beats the heart of a trattoria. There was very satisfactory Montepulciano di Abruzzo by the glass. We were served a very good basket of bread. The red sauce was excellent, conspicuously featured in many dishes. We were traveling and due to time constraints, just ordered entrees. The chicken parmigiana was a home run. The meatball lasagna had more cheese than pasta and was too much for one person. The combination of mozzarella and ricotta brought to mind the texture of moussaka. We had an excellent dish of squid in squid ink pasta with olive oil and garlic. This is a challenge for a serious restaurant, so eating a dish of this quality in such a casual setting was awesome. There is lobster ravioli and butternut squash ravioli on the menu that are supposed to be excellent, as well. The prices are ridiculously inexpensive- the most expensive thing on the menu is $14.95. The service is casual and friendly. If you're in the area, this unpretentious little place will impress you.

This restaurant is as good as it gets FOR WHAT IT IS. Yes, the atmosphere is that of a glorified pizza joint. You do not go here for comfort or fanciness. You go here for simply one thing: good food at really great prices. 1st off, we got a bottle of wine for $18. That's unheard of in this area. And it was made in Italy and pretty decent table wine! Then we got garlic bread. The waitress warned us it was really garlicky. Perfect, the more the better. It was PERFECT for sopping up the sauce that came over my pasta. For dinner I got gnocchi in the pink cream sauce. It was so divine! Creamy, tender and pillowy with ample sauce. I was in heaven. And the best part? It was only $11! My sister got the lobster ravioli and loved hers as well. I didn't try it. I was too in love with my gnocchi. The service is pretty good given that the waitress is writing all the receipts by hand and calculating tax with a calculator (old school!). There was a little bit of a wait, but it was a Saturday night so that was to be expected. Overall I was really impressed with this place, and will definitely go back next time I want a no-frills, really good homemade Italian meal. I mean seriously, this was better food than most dinners I've had in the North End at 2-3 times the price. Also---I want to try their desserts. I saw Napoleans on the menu. Mmmm, next time!!

We tried this place after craving Italian.. Service is good. They are generous with bread. Quick service. Nice, convenient parking. But the food is just ok. My linguine with clam sauce was loaded with linguine, not so much of clams for $16. My husbands meal was ok too. Note that portions are very generous. But overall, we will go back if in the area.

This place was great. The day of, I placed an order for around 35 meals to be delivered to our location at 8:30pm. First off, they don't deliver. Second, they close at 8:30. They went out of their way to get us our order right on time. Everyone loved the food. The prices were also great.

The food here is really tasty for homestyle creamy italian food, but don't call ahead or put in an order for pickup! The women who answer the phone and deal with take out orders sound like they could care less that you're ordering and essentially don't want you to call in for their food. So negative and mean! I always feel terrible afterwards, and hate walking in to talk to them in person. Kills the good food- i can find tasty italian somewhere else!

Really good !! Reasonably priced. Excellent service. The restaurant has (2) dining rooms so lots of seating. During the week at lunch it's a "self serve" cafe style but weekends and weeknights there is table service. They bake their own bread/sub rolls- and you can taste the difference. Pizza by the slice- very good. Others at my table ordered pasta dishes and pasta was al dente and dishes were very large. Everyone enjoyed their dish. You can't go wrong here. I would highly recommend Linguine's.

Hard to believe a place that treats its customer with such utter contempt and pushes out plate after plate of mediocrity is always busy. Why do people continue to frequent an establishment that makes you feel like unwanted house guests? How do you explain, after being told your take-out order wasn't ready, finally being handed a bag of cold food you saw come straight from the kitchen ... not warm, not tepid, but cold? I've given this place more chances than I should have but I'm done.

Love this place! Quick and yummy family Italian restaurant. The prices are exceptionally reasonable and they make the very best eggplant parm on the planet!

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. The malbec wine was chilled, which ruins the flavor. My dinner companion had lasagna which was cold at the bottom, which indicates it was microwaved and had to be sent back to be re- heated. My dinner came a good five minutes earlier and was tasteless. I think their "gravy" is Ragu! Never again.

I used to work down the street from this place and loved it. The chicken marsala is delicious and the sandwiches are all good. I only did take out so I'm not sure about the service or dining-in experience.

Get any lobster dish and you will not be upset. Massive chunks of real lobster combined with what Im assuming was fresh pasta and oh so rich cream sauce. The rest of my table had bolognese, a clam dish, and spinach cheese raviolis, everyone seemed happy. Fresh bread when you arrive and a quaint seating area make this place the perfect spot for the hungry passerby. Bravo Linguini's, Bravo!

  • Ryan P.

When I ate here I got take-out. The ravioli in cream sauce tasted like it was frozen and reheated. The cannoli I got had no chocolate chips in it. Whenever I've had a cannoli they've had them in it. Their service is disorganized, the dining area is cramped and the prices are high for what you're getting. Not worth it. I'd rather go to a chain Italian place with local place like this.

I wish we could separate ratings based on food vs. everything-else. Decided to stop for a quick Friday pasta dinner with my 4 year old. Perfect place for it. After a couple tries, I know it's great Italian 'cucina' style food for not-too-expensive in a very informal kitcheny spot. (you can watch the kitchen from most of the place). Off to a great start, I order ravioli for her, cherrystones over linguine for me. It's something I grew up with, and one of those key dishes you can judge a kitchen on. First of all, she gets her ravioli first. I wait. Almost 10 minutes before I get my food. It's a two-top with half the tables empty and at least 4 people in the kitchen. Yet they don't seem to get how to time dishes together. Don't drop the ravioli at the same time that the clams hit the pan. I know this, in my kitchen, serving two people only. Worse, she feels so guilty that she doesn't eat, and keeps offering me her ravioli. So it gets cold and she never eats it. Honestly: awesome, fresh, fluffy, huge raviolis that I would have loved to eat. Now garbage on my dime. Because of a poorly run kitchen. My linguine arrives. A huge lovely portion. I stick my fork in it and it hits something - a 5 inch wide plastic storage tub cover. An entire peice of tupperware under my pasta. Fine. Mistakes happen. It's taken away and I wait, watching the confused huddle at the pass. The bus boy, while he happens to be near my table. tell me they're going to make a new one, and the manager is going to have mine because the lid was clean... yadda yadda. I don't care. My daugher is done, her food is cold, I'm still hungry. Eventually the waitress, on her way by, apologizes and reiterates that I'm getting a new one. What I'm still wondering is, am I getting one or two free meals for this atrocious experience? Just before my food comes, somone informs me about how much the manager enjoyed my meal. Past tense. Are you people f#*#&%^ing serious? I'm close to kicking the table over and leaving at this point. But I'm hungry. And the entire kitchen is avoiding eye contact with me. Eventually my food comes by and at least 4 of the staff make the same eye-rolling joke about making sure there's no more kitchen hardware in there. Maybe funny one time, and only if I say it. Not funny now. Again, too hungry to leave. Almost too hungry to eat. Great dish. And the bread was great. The waitress and bus staff worked hard and were very friendly. I tipped well. I had NO apology from ANYONE in the kitchen, and not a word from management. I got NO BREAK on the bill. NOTHING. So, the boss gets a free meal and the customer gets the shaft. Nice. At least one kitchen staff walked by my table and made eye contact while I ate, and immediately looked away. Totally, totally unprofessional management. Reading other reviews, it's clear they have a basic kitchen discipline and process management problem. However, the food is still great when it's free of garbage and hair; and the staff have been there for a while and are very friendly. They're doing _something_ right. They need to work on the rest. I think the manager may have been an oblivious older gentleman that stood with his hand on the register the entire night, eyeballing the customers. Each time I talked with him ("where do you get your clams? is the pasta homemade?") The first answer was an annoyed and confused "WHA?", yet he heard me fine every time I repeated myself exactly the same way. Not exactly an engaging or commanding presence. I honestly don't even think he was aware of what happened at my table, even though he stood there the entire time. He didn't ask, and no one bothered to tell him. I'm torn on whether I'll ever be back at this point. Because it's the kind of place you just really really want to have around.

This is a review for take-out. Phone Call- Me: Hi, I'd like to order for takeout, please Female voice: No problem, what would you like? Me: I would like Chicken Parmesan, but I would like steamed broccoli instead of pasta, please. Female voice: Um, that's not an even exchange. Me: No problem, if you have to charge another buck or so for the broccoli it's no big deal. Female voice: Great it'll be 15-20 minutes. Me: Thank you. Click. Click. Price of Chicken Parm: $9.97 ($9.50 + tax) Amount they charged me when I walked in the door: $14.12 WHAT? So I look at the bill for a minute and then ask if it's $4 to get broccoli instead of pasta. Two of them look at the register and my receipt and then they open the register and give me $1.05 back and tell me the side of broccoli is $2.95 but I'll be happy because it's a lot. Okay, 1) it was not $3 worth of broccoli, but, it's a restaurant so whatever and 2) I did not order a separate side of broccoli, I substituted. She told me it was not an even substitution, she did NOT say they would not substitute at all and I had to pay for the side. In fact, has she said that, I may have said okay. I could see they clearly did not get it and I think they even got annoyed about giving me the dollar back (although they were friendly otherwise) and I was tired and had no patience to argue so I left. I went to a nice outdoor spot to enjoy my meal, but there were no napkins of utensils with my takeout, so I packed back up and went home. Okay, now I know Chicken Parm is not quintessential Italian food, but it's simple and it's a good way to judge a place before I invest in trying various things. First, it was clearly lightly breaded and pan seared as opposed to deep fried. This is a good thing. The breading, however, had no flavor of it's own and the chicken was too tough for parm (it should be able to be cut with a fork). The chicken was cooked just right, however, and the sauce was tasty but WAY too salty. I am ambivalent about the broccoli. It tasted like steamed broccoli. I suppose it could have been crunchier. And cheaper. So here's my take... other Yelpers, Yelpers whose opinions I value, give this place high marks. I am sticking with my opinion, for now, but perhaps I'll go back for dinner and write an update based on that experience sometime in the future. In the meantime, I suppose maybe you could try and see for yourself.

I love Linguine's! This is the type of restaurant that I want in my neighborhood (I used to live about 5 minutes away, now it's about 25 minutes). Great food, homemade pasta, informal atmosphere, delicious bread, takeout subs/pizza, and cheap prices! The food is great red sauce Italian, and the portions are huge. I have really never been disappointed in the quality or consistency of the food. It is always good. Service is okay. Usually there is only 1 or 2 waitresses in the whole place, but it is a family run operation so I let it slide. Overall, this is my kind of establishment. It has consistently delicious food, reasonable prices, and a totally casual atmosphere.

Linguini's restaurant is a very good restaurant with family friendly atmosphere is popular with the locals. the food was very good large portions. the atmosphere was okay it was slightly louder but it's what you expect from a small restaurant. The white stuff is for us you were trying to go get it pero seconds later your your food you actually get it in good time. Overall it's a great restaurant I've gone there many times and I highly recommend it to anyone who staying in the area

Our family has been to this place many times and I must say, the reason I'm writing this review is due to the very poor service here. We are finally giving up going. The food is fine but he service, lousy at best. We visited on a Friday evening. We were seated promptly but then the wait began. No one was paying attention yet everyone that was seated after us were getting drinks and orders taken. We finally had to flag down one of the workers who took drink orders and brought bread but never took our order, nor did the table have silverware. So much for trying to butter our bread. My wife got up and finally asked if someone was going to help us. A woman came over (I think she is the owners daughter) and was actually very aloof. She wasn't friendly what so ever. Almost like she didn't want to work there. We have had her in the past and same unfriendly behavior. I've heard this from our friends that have also visited. The other crew members were not very friendly either. Its really unfortunate as we do like the food,, prices and portions but the service is just not worth the price. Especially if you end up waiting and waiting. The waitress didn't even ask us if we would like any desert, which we were prepared to pursue. Overall, if you can put up with terrible service over the food, my I've experienced better rating is accurate.

By far the best pizza in the area. The toppings are REALLY expensive though! $2.00 a topping on a normal pizza (even if it's just garlic which you can by at Hannaford's for 0.89!) and $4.00 for a topping on a Sicilian! CRAZY! Other than that, no complaints. Great pizza, great service!

Stopped in two times while I was in town and both times the service and food were fantastic. Decent size dishes, reasonable prices, and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend the king crab and shrimp ravioli and the lobster ravioli. Everyone that I interacted with that worked there was very friendly, even when we were still there after they had closed. I wish I had a place like this where I live.

The front desk person at our hotel recommended this place and it di not disappoint! It's a smallish place and closes early but the menu is HUGE! The owner came our to greet us and chat for a bit and everything we ordered was excellent! They even kept the kitchen open a few extra minutes for friends of ours who got lost on the way there. Prices were very reasonable too. I wish I lived locally. This would be a weekly spot!

On our way heading north on Rt 495, we took the Marlborough exit (20) and made the short drive to this restaurant. I had read pizza by the slice was available so I was not expecting such a fairly large restaurant with numerous cars parked outside. The modest interior was jammed with a line at the counter where locals were ordering off a large menu posted over the kitchen. We joined them and settled on 2 slices of cheese pizza and a 16-ounce diet coke that we shared. The crust was thicker than New Haven style with a modest topping of cheese and a sauce that had to have come directly from a can. After watching customer after customer pass by with large grinders filled with either chicken Parmesan or meatballs, we realized the folly of our ways. A rating of 2.5 would be most appropriate.

I don't know why people complain about this place? I have never had a bad dining experience here. I know at times the place gets super busy but the food is good. I like the homemade meatballs, and the fresh baked bread. The pasta dishes are all good and the spaghetti sauce is great.

I came here years ago with my father and absolutely loved the food! As soon as you walk in, you feel the home style feel. It's about average size, maybe on the smaller side, has take out and surprisingly with the space, they can seat huge parties. Get there before 6 to avoid the dinner rush! You'll be waiting in line for a longggg time. We got there around 5 and got seated immediately. It was pretty busy even when we got there and our waitress was definitely in the weeds. She didn't come over to us for a good 6 or 7 minutes. Didn't tell us her name, didn't tell us about the specials, had different people give us our drinks and our check. She only asked how our food was and that was all. Too busy for short talk. They may want to hire a couple more waiters/waitresses. So the service was eh, could've been a lot better. But the food though....!! My brother and I both ordered the lobster fettuccine and it was so delicious. Thick, creamy alfredo sauce with a good amount of lobster chunks in there with some diced up tomatoes. Piping hot, right out from the open kitchen. Even the bread was also really good, too. $17.95 for that? Definitely worth it. When the check came, she had mistakenly charged us for drinks we didn't order so we had to go up and tell her to fix it. She was VERY busy and I know that may happen, but for next time, just be aware! Definitely a family style restaurant and one of the better restaurants located in Marlborough.

I have been seeing all the negative reviews for this place so i definitely need to update mine. The prices here are very reasonable! Do you take stars away because a place is not upscale? NO! They make no mention that they are upscale. This place is like a pizza place with waiters and a wider menu. The food is all homemade. The complaints about the sauce I really don't understand. Every time I have been in here the sauce has been perfect and very garlicky flavored. We even asked them how they made it. The quality we always receive is very high. The meatball lasagna is very good. I used them to cater a work event a the beginning of December and I still have people asking me when will order from them again. The portions and the catering portions are huge. And the prices are very good The staff - yes some of the staff can be not very attentive or borderline rude but this is a family run business and the staff work hard and long hours.

I have been here a dozen times now and it has always had great food for lunch. The shrimp Caesar salad is a favorite. Simple, but tasty. The service is quick and everything is made fresh. Definitely a cheap and easy dining experience. Another personal favorite is the chicken parm sub and the antipasto. The red sauce for their food and the meatballs are a must have with a piece of fresh hot bread out of the warmer.

Little hole in the wall, totally unimpressive at a glance. Then you get hit with a HUGE menu (don't neglect the specials board hanging near the kitchen). Food claims to be scratch made and the taste backs the claim. I had the lobster ravioli, my companion had veal w/linguini. The side of meatballs was the only thing I wasn't a fan of, but the sauce was on point. The portions are ridiculous, we watched a piece of lasagna go by that was the size of my head (slight exaggeration). Service was ok, not overly chatty or friendly but got the job done. They do serve beer and wine, also saw limited cordials on the menu. AmEx accepted. Well worth a visit.

This place does not offer the scripted efficiency of a national chain restaurant, which seems to be one reason others have rated it poorly. However, if you want great food, a broad menu, reasonable prices and a friendly, vibrant atmosphere, this is the place for you. I went with my two teenage kids and my wife and we all ordered different dishes so we got to try a few menu items. We all loved our own choice as well as everyone else's, but we thought that the gnocchi with pink (rose) sauce was the winner. Also, none of us finished our dishes, even my sixteen year old son if you can imagine that! We did share the antipasta as an appetizer, which was also delicious. Service was friendly but a bit hap hazard as some dishes arrived several minutes before others. I see some comments complain about a male staff member or perhaps the manager/owner. There was one gentlemen working that evening and, although he didn't exactly exude hospitality, he was polite and helpful.

Worst service ever. I ordered a chicken parmesan grinder, which came with a functionally no sauce on it. I asked the owner/manager if I could have some sauce, he was rude and refused to put sauce on it unless I paid for it. I have eaten at many restaurants and have never been treated so rudely in my life. We will never go back

Service was TERRIBLE! It took 15 minutes to have someone to take our order. This place is awful. Food is very very salty - otherwise it has no flavor at all. Poor quality food - very poor - I have no idea why people line up out the door to get into this place unless their taste buds are dead and they just need to have something in their stomach. Authentic... No cutting corners... Always ordering the pizza because it is that good, not the usual mom and pop prepped pizza crust with some cheese and succeed thrown on. This pizza has a great tasty crust, perfectly seasoned sauce, and the cheese and other toppings are all high quality and great tasting... Ever get a Veal Parmesan sub and you get a roll filled with processed veal DISC's... Linguine gives you a nice fat grinder of nicely breaded veal cutlets accompanied by their great sauce and cheese. Friendly people and great feeling of a nice family Italian Ristorante.

Wow! Great home cooked meals. The service was great with the daughter of the owner who helped us and the food was some of the best Italian ice had. I used to visit every so now and again typically for take out pizza. The place is family owned and is ran by and older couple and their two daughters. Service can be hit or miss. I had the Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. To be honest I was pretty disappointed. The service was about what I'd expect from a Mom and Pop type place, but the food left much to be desired. Maybe the dish I had wasn't one of their best, but talking to some locals nearby, they agree it's not a very good Italian place.

I did not get a chance to eat here as we were pretty aggravated with the lack of service coming into the restaurant. The party before us knew someone who worked in the restaurant and was seated quickly. There were maybe two tables left....we stood at the entrance completely ignored. Finally a waitress yelled over a table walking toward us 2? We are three with our toddler. Four feet from the entrance she chose a table for us and tossed two menus down and walked away. Too bad. Food looked good and the cooks were hustling.

Come here often with family and family friends for a casual American-Italian dinner. As noted by most reviewers the establishment itself is pretty shabby looking, but it's a laid back atmosphere and you can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen. (local eatery / old-school vibe) Definitely try the Edwardo Pizza (pay extra to get chicken instead of ham). All their dishes are served hot, taste great and are hearty portions. (skip the salad unless you're on a diet) You can also pay $1 extra on any of their entrees to make it spicy (they add jalapeños to the sauce) which I'd recommend. Good food, good prices, and decent service (only ever been here for dinner so can't comment on the lunch service)

  • Keith S.

When it comes to any kind of food I'm very picky and overly fussy about taste which results from preparation (seasoning, fresh ingredients, cooking) Linguines is one of the few places where each and every meal is made to order from scratch. The portions are very generous, the prices are really low compared to other Italian restaurants with half the quality. My only complaint is that they are located so far from where I live which is not their fault at all.

I would say the food is good, not excellent. I had chicken and artichoke special with linguni. It was not very flavorful. I wish the chicken had been sauteed but it wasn't. It seemed like it was boiled, like you would see it in a soup. No grill lines or indications of sauteeing. My Bf had linguni with meatballs. He said it was good. Meatballs, 2, were huge which was good. I would possibly go back but if I did I would not order the chicken and artichoke pasta dish again because of the lack of flavor and way the chicken was cooked. Good prices compared to other italian places nearby, though. I choose Linguine's because of the good reviews here and it was the only Italian, good rated places nearby open on a Sunday. My advice just do not order the chicken artichoke because you may be disappointed. Also do not order the greek salad. It was not worth 5.95. It was literally a lot of lettucce with a huge slab of cheese. No olives, like in greek salads everywhere else I buy one from, and only 2 slices cucumber and 2 small slices red pepper, which I have never had on a greek salad. Big side of greek dressing though, which I only used less than half of it.

Was here for lunch at 3 PM, only customer in the place. The only employee present, the gentleman most of you probably know, was seated at a table with an iPad. I figured I'd go to the counter and a cook would come out and take my order. After I read to he board for a few minutes the man at the table asked what I wanted. It was a little weird. How bout a hello when I walked in, The instructions to give you my order when I was ready??? But the service here is what it is and I'm not going to detract any stars for that since I kind of knew thanks to yelp. I sat in the one clean booth; hello, I was alone in the restaurant. However, I decided to treat myself to a chicken piccata today. Before this visit to Linguines, I don't think I would've said it was possible to make a bland and flavorless chicken piccata. But they succeeded at this in spades. What a disappointment! The bread was kind awesome, I enjoyed that. But I'm mad about my piccata. That said, I hope you will learn from my mistake, piccata lovers. Other basic fare will probably be a better choice for you. I do like the broccoli rabe. All in all I don't think I'll be hitting this place with a group anytime soon.

I love their crab raviloi and lobster ravioli. I typically request pink sauce. Their pizza is also good. It is served by the slice. When I lived in the area, I would eat here a few times a month. It keeps a nice crowd and are pretty affordable.

I have always enjoyed the food that I get from here. My girlfriend LOVES this place so we go quite often. Not only that, but they will cater food for some of my work events once in a while. If you go here, you will see some good food at reasonable prices. However, in my opinion, the staff will not make you feel welcome the slightest bit. I know it has most likely been one family that's been running the place all along and its because i always see the same staff working. You'll get served fairly quickly, but I do not consider this to be a typical sit down restaurant...They're just one step up from a place where you stand in line to order your food and get it delivered to your table from a waitress... If you go here for dinner, either come with a huge appetite or come knowing that you WILL be taking left overs home. Good food, fair service

Overall, great food. I have only gotten take out, but the veal parm is to die for. Getting the salads is not worth it, very small portions on the salads... in comparison to the entire sheep that you get with the veal parm.

Like others have mentioned, this isn't a fine dining restaurant, and the food is distinctly American Italian, not anything you'd find in Italy. That being said the food they make is excellent and mostly comes with their delicious house red sauce. The menu is pretty huge and they seem to have daily/weekly specials based on the season. I've gone several times for dinner and had great experiences. The only problem is the lunches... There are no servers at lunch and the man (owner?) can be a little rude at the worst of times, and off-putting at the best of times. The first time I went for lunch, I didn't know what to do, after seating ourselves, I went up to the counter to order. I was dismissed and told to go over to the kitchen counter to order, as if I should have known that. We ordered and then picked up our food from the kitchen. A table near us let us know that we could get our own fountain drinks from the waitress station. The food was excellent as always, but the entire time we were eating, we could hear the owner "teasing the kitchen" about the registration on the van the kitchen uses, saying that his dog was smarter than a Brazilian. After eating we cleaned up and then went tot he counter to pay. The owner eventually took notice and seemed surprised that I was there. "Can I help you?" he quipped.. Is it not traditional to pay after eating a meal? I still love this place, but I think I'll only frequent for dinner from now on...

I can only give Linguine's 2 stars. They really are hit or miss. At times, the food is fantastic. Here are the 2 main problems: 1.They are very cheap with cheese. I swear, I've had parmesan dishes here with no cheese on them. Why not ask for more? Well, that brings the 2nd problem. 2.The owner. The guy is apathetic, borderline flat out rude, and quite honestly, seems like the kind of guy who would kick you out of his restaurant for asking for more of anything.

We were a bit skeptical by the atmosphere when we arrived. Bread served with paper plates and salad dressing served in Ken's packets continued the skepticism. That being said, the service was good and the main dishes were really good. Food was served piping hot. If you're looking for a decent meal very reasonably priced then you'll like it. If you're looking for a private, date night type of dinner...might not be the right choice.

Stopped here on the way back home to CT and ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli and it was good. You can't beat the $12.95 cost. They are also very friendly. We shared the ricotta pie for dessert and it was very good. Looks to be a family run place,

Stopped in two times while I was in town and both times the service and food were fantastic. Decent size dishes, reasonable prices, and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend the king crab and shrimp ravioli and the lobster ravioli.

Delish!

Hop on Rte 20, pass a little red structure with a condemned builing beside it and you have Linguines. Been here a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. Will not win any awards for ambience, but the menu is deep, food comes quickly, and the specials are solid. Salads, pizza, and meatball lasgana are all recommended. Prices are very reasonable too.

This is a no frills place for very good home made Italian food. You won't get a lot of ambience, but you will get a very good meal at a very reasonable price. This place is "supper" and not "fine dining" but the food outdoes some of the pricier, fancier places.....The Eggplant Rolantini, Chicken Salvia, Chicken Gamberi and the pizza are all excellent. If they have the ricotta gnocchi get it and promise yourself that you'll work out in the morning....it is worth the calories. The meatballs are great and the homemade fusilli dishes are a must. A great neighborhood place, with great food at very reasonable prices. A must.

Treated so poorly, will NEVER return to this dive. They should be ashamed of themselves. I can't believe they have such a regular following, especially if people are treated as rudely as we were. I will never step foot in this place again.

Great food. Not a bad price either. Could use better hospitality. Kind of and intimidating atmosphere from staff. Sometimes you can feel like an outsider. Food is great but needs more personality.

Definitely stop in for lunch if you're in the mood for italian. The subs are huge, but the hot subs are definitely better than the cold subs. The chicken parm is out of this world, as is the meatball sub. The prices are good - around $6 for a sandwich and soda, lots of booths and tables, very low key but nice, and great pasta sauce to take home for later.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend, but frankly I was pretty disappointed. I think I gave them the third star just because by the time we left they already had a line well out of the door and I always have a soft spot for these places, a town isn't complete without your local Italian place. I know full well not to expect food straight from Tuscany when visiting these places, but I was deeply disappointed by the food here. I had the chicken picatta, the sauce was ok, but the chicken was pretty rubbery and the side of pasta was way overcooked. Their pasta sauce is fairly good, but the best sauce in the world could not save that pasta. I know it was mentioned in other reviews as well, but we had two of our three plates served and almost had to wait 10 minutes for the third meal to finally come. I know they were busy, but the kitchen was not preparing stuff in any order, the waitress seemed to deliver food purely in a random fashion.

My co-workers and I order Calzones from Liguine's and they are pretty good. Usually we order take-out and pick it up. I have eaten in the restaurant once before but I view it more as an italian deli type place than a restaurant. What I mean is.... I would never think of going to eat here for a special occasion. :-)

The food here is near North End quality. It is very much a home style-red sauce place. The prices are a tad high but the quality is there, when you consider the Italian cuisine landscape in metro west. If you only have the Pizza you're missing out. * This is located much closer to Northborough than the heart of Marlborough. * Gnocchi Sorrentina ties Ziti's in Westborough, quite good. * Veal dishes tend to be slightly vulcanized, the piccata are thin enough so I suspect it's a cooking technique error. * The Pizzaiola sauce is clean-the-plate-with-bread delicious. * It's a compromise pie, too thick to be NYC style, still a good crust and sauce. * Service is friendly but not attentive, I'm not docking them.

Ok - I stopped by our local Italian hot spot on route 20, just over the northborough/marlborough line, in marlborough for ... I admit it ... for the Cannolis - these little treats are better than Mikes in the NorthEnd and yes, I've had both. Linguine's cannolis are lighter than Mikes and the way I eat, less is more - it has to be! Just the right amount of sugar, seemlingly made from scratch although I've never asked. Man-o-man they are delicious! Sometimes my vehicle just swerves towards linguines on the way to Hannaford for my weekly shopping trip. My vehicle likes to see me happy and so do I. For those less inclined towards sweets - I adore and savore the Bracciole (flank steak and sauce)... Mmmmmmm - the meat is tender, delicious and seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of stuffing. Did I already write Mmmmmmm - its worth repeating. I have also tried and very much enjoyed the veal parmigiano and marsala. The sauce is on the garlicy side but in a very good way. My son even appreciates the sauce here - his Italian side is finally starting to show. Great fresh rolls and butter and smiling friendly chefs! They serve wine as well, not sure if I've seen beer. Its a small parking lot but worth squeezing into. Not much handicap parking but its sufficient for the size of the restaurant. Staff is pleasant and consistent and extremely helpful. I very much recommend Linguines for a comfortable little Italian hot spot close to home (mine anyway).

I love Linguine's! I now live on the South Shore and anytime I am in the Marlborough area, a trip to Linguine's is a must. My husband works near this place, so that is how we first discovered it. I've been hooked ever since. The pesto tortellini is my favorite. $7.95 for a GIANT portion of homemade tortellini in excellent pesto sauce. I have leftovers for days. The complementary homemade bread that you are given here is my favorite, though. It is amazing and always warm. It can get crowded on weekends for dinner and the service is rushed and at times rude. This food is so good here that the service is almost part of the charm! Pizza, cheap subs, calzones, meatball lasagna are also all recommended!

I eat here twice a month. Food is awesome. Great service at night and cafeteria style for lunch. Pizzas are great. Lasagna is extra cheesy! Salads and antipasto's are good. Portions are big! You won't get a bad meal here!

After driving by many times we tried Linguine's for take out. Fettuccine Alfredo was very good as was the Lobster Ravioli. Gnocci was ok but we really didn't like the Angel Hair pasta although the meatballs were good. We need to go back and try some other dishes to get a better assessment but for now a three star is all we could give.

I've been going to Linguine's on and off since they opened a little over ten years ago. I've never had a bad pizza, calzone, or pasta dish in those ten years. The "North End" style pizza is some of the best I've had since I left New York as a teenager. The Sicilian pizza has a crust of perfect composition, thick, chewy in the middle, and just a bit of crunch on the outside. The toppings are widely varied and of consistently high quality. The calzones are generously portioned and come with a reasonable serving of the much-lauded homemade red sauce. They are never overcooked, always crispy, and bursting at the seams with cheese and toppings. When eating in or getting a pasta dish for takeout, the included bread is always warm and soft, ideal for soaking up some sauce. The garlic bread (especially with mozzarella) is wonderful. The homemade fusili and ravioli are particular standouts from the pasta menu, and the seafood variations are always fresh, not overcooked, and substantial for the price. The meatballs have been described by other reviewers as "legendary" -- I'm inclined to agree. They have a smooth, light texture, but still have plenty of density to sink your teeth into. The red sauce is a typical homemade marinara, executed to perfection. The staff are very friendly (though phone orders are sometimes performed with a sort of gruff efficiency -- take no offense, they're just very busy). The waitstaff in the dining room will welcome you with a smile and remain attentive, even on a very busy night. They tend to close early, and are only open late in the day on Sunday. Be sure to check their website or call ahead to make sure they'll be open when you arrive. The kitchen closes a half hour before the restaurant, and they're pretty strict about keeping to that schedule. If you're in the neighborhood (like I am), you'll find yourself coming back on a weekly basis. If you're from far afield, you'll find yourself looking for a way to live nearby.

Very "low key" place with an order counter, register, exposed kitchen. Family run and very blue collar family friendly. Portions are HUGE and quality and flavor are outstanding. Bring your appetite or make room in your refrigerator for a doggie bag because this place will expand your hemispheres (that's what my wife calls my waist these days).

Decent Italian. Great price. Love that I can get some old school home made classics like tripe and braciole. Sauce is a little weak. Bread id awesome. Overall pretty good.

Huge portions and very reasonable prices, in a cafeteria-style setting. (At least during lunchtime -- I hear that they have table service at dinnertime, but have only been for lunch.) Every day, they have several specials -- there's usually a pasta special that is delicious. Would easily say that Linguine's is North End quality on a budget. Be sure to take some bread with your meal -- it is included with the dishes and quite good. If only I could leave the office to come here for lunch more often without my waistline regretting it...

Loved this place! I had ravioli w/ meatballs. The sauce was AWESOME and the meatballs were fantastic. The place was such a great deal! Now, I was really happy that they weren't a full scale restaurant because it made the food really cheap and still great, however, the waiter could have come and pick up our paper plates, and when I was done, I still had some food left, he never asked me if I wanted to keep it, he just took it. (good thing I didn't want the rest of it). Otherwise, I thought the place was great, I'll definitley be going back :)

I heard that the food was great, even though the service was lousy so I decided to try it and not worry about the people. I ordered 2 slices of pizza. I took one bite of my pizza and noticed a dark hair on it (I am blonde). A guy came by and asked if everything was okay and I said something about it. He yelled across tables of people eating their dinners to the waitress and she yelled back that it was probably just hers and not to worry. Uhhmmm really? So I sat there until everyone else I was with was finished. Not once did anyone offer me anything different to eat. I was actually shocked when they still asked me to pay. I had literally only taken one bite before I gave it back to them. It goes without saying, I will never return to this place.

This was such a disappointment. We kept hearing great things about this place so went in for lunch. Paid WAY too much for simple pasta and the much-heralded homemade sauce. The sauce did nothing for us. Tasted like plain tomato sauce. The service was eh as was the atmosphere. If you want scrumptious Italian food with excellent service and great wine check out Arturo's in Westborough. Now THAT'S Italian.

I love Linguine's. I frakin' love it. I go there for lunch all the damn time and everything on the menu is awesome. I once looked at an apartment nearby but decided against it because I would eat there every night, too. I love their food, but I don't want to weigh 500 pounds. A word of warning: go for the food, not the atmosphere or service. Therefore, lunch time during the week is the best time to go. At nights and on weekends they switch from counter service to full service for some reason. I think this plays to their weaknesses and is not a good idea.

Worst experience I've ever encountered. This place was recommended to us by the front desk personnel at the hotel we were staying at. Boy, did they ever miss the mark on this one. We went there expecting a good italian meal and ended up with the worst one we've ever had. The eggplant parm was a joke. It wasn't even breaded and there wasn't any cheese between the layers. The penne pasta and meatballs were very watery and tasted like Ragu (only much worse). And to top it all off, they served us on paper plates and paper cups for water. Our waitress was very nasty, unattentive and rude. Be forwarned. This place is bad news!

I'm a HUGE fan of their gnocchi, even though I watched them put it in the pot straight from a bag. The staff is very friendly and seems to remember everyone that walks into the restaurant. The ordering style during lunch is cafeteria style almost. I much prefer this restaurant for dinner.

The best!!! The food quality and quantity is the best. The atmosphere is not fine dining, but the food belongs in the Northend for triple what they're charging. I go here at LEAST once a week. I have yet to have a pasta dish that beats it. My favorite part is the amount of sauces and ravioli options available. Nobody ever leaves hungry either. My suggestion is to get a side of sauce to dip the bread! Amazing prices. Range between 8.95 - 12.95 mostly. Favorite restaurant for years and have introduced many friends who now agree.

If this were only a review about the food, I would give this place 5 stars. The pizza is the best in metrowest. The sauce is delicious & you can buy it for $5.00. Calzones are crispy and well proportioned. Chicken piccata with broccoli is great.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
