This is a dive beach bar, we've been coming for years. We stick to the summer months when visiting the beach. They went back to a lot of the old menu after Kitchen Nightmares made the place/menu over last year. The decor never really changed after the show came in, just fresh paint and new wall art work (a bunch of different ropes tied in different knots) The seafood is basic fare, love the fried oysters when they have them. The staff is friendly. We trickle in and out while spending the day at the beach, and they are always accommodating. It's a beach bar that does what it needs to....serves cold drinks and seafood quickly without a lot of fuss.

I must start by saying Robbie is a fantastic bartender and I enjoy visiting him whenever possible, however, upon arriving and sitting at the bar my friends and I were greeted by nicole, a manager apparently. We were promptly informed that it is illegal for anyone under 21 to sit at the bar, havi g been a bartender for the last 10 years I know this isnt true especially regarding infants in strollers who are falling asleep. We were offered a table, but really wanted to sit at the bar as the service is far better, we left disappointed. I would love to go back as soon as their managers learn the state laws before talking out of their asses

My Husband and I just had lunch here. Let me start by saying that the food was excellent. The portions were large for the price, and we both enjoyed our food. I had the fried scallops and my Husband had the Baja tacos. The scallops were sweet and fresh. The Baja tacos came with rice and zucchini that my husband thoroughly enjoyed. If I were giving a review based on the food alone, I'd give the place a 5. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Our waitress was pleasant enough and friendly. She just was inattentive and slow. It took a long time for her to greet us and bring water. The restaurant was not packed. Then when we asked for our check, we watched her have a conversation with another employee and do three other things before she brought us our check which was in her apron the whole time. We were a table of two and there were a few other tables in her section with more people. Those tables seemed to receive better service. It should also be noted that the hostess stood at the host stand playing on her phone the entire time we were there. The food is good for beach food, but if you go don't expect prompt service or anyone to go out of their way to make the experience better.

Horrible food and service! For the first time in my life, I sent back my meal. My shrimp smelled and tasted spoiled. I understand that accidents happen, however, I was quite frustrated with how our server handled the situation. She tried to lecture me on how the shrimp were fine and that the problem must be that I don't know what shrimp taste like. I eat shrimp frequently... Lesson learned... I should have checked Yelp first!

Wow, WORST phone etiquette. Mackyla answered phone and sounded so rude then asked me to wait and then says "um...this girl wants to.. like.. talk to the owners and um like i dont know what to tell them". Really? Im on phone, and can tell this person is an AIRHEAD. LIKE OH MY GOD REALLY! LOL Mark, I was calling to speak to you and was horrified by the ppl you have running your establishment. So much for making business!

Service is cute to look at but not good at serving. Waited for 1 beer waited for the check. Hand her the bill and my card she walks away and is not serving anyone at the bar so uh WTF?

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Waited to Be seated for over 40 minutes and when arrived told to wait an extra 20 more minutes. After we complained the manager named ERICA who is extremely rude and snobby, refused to sit us because we were unhappy with the service and the attitude of the workers. Instead of her apologizing and making the situation better she made it wor she told us not to come back, worst experience and worse managing style ever ERICA also disturbed everyone in the surrounding area and caused a huge scene, will never ever go here. EVER! Stay away!!!! Go to McDonald's where the service is actually much better

Most disgusting place. We got seated at a table outside right behind the trash. Smelled so disgusting Then, we asked to seat somewhere else. They gave us a different table full of flies. I understand outdoor seating but if you have flies all over its never a good sign.

I should have read these reviews before coming here (mental note to always check Yelp). I was pretty hungry and this place was packed so I figured it would be a good idea. After placing my order did I start reading the reviews and I was feeling queasy (food poisoning, soggy food, 2 hr wait for food, and.....maggots?). I almost lost my appetite. Found out this place was also featured on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. I ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail, stuffed quahogs, and the Fried Fisherman Platter. Our waitress was friendly. Food came out quickly.Shrimp cocktails were average size. Stuffed quahogs were decent and seasoned well. So the problem was the Fried Fisherman Platter ($20, fresh fried cod, sea scallops, shrimp, clam strips, fries slaw & tartar). I was disappointed when I got my entree. I didn't know I ordered French fries with a side of seafood. There were only 2 shrimps, 4 small scallops, and cod. The food wasn't fried but was heavily soaked in a pool of butter and had bread crumbs sprinkled on top. The cod was cold and not fresh. Oh, and we were missing the clam strips and tarter sauce.

If you are going to be going for drinks, go at night and get served by the bartender, because the bartender knows what he's doing.. the waitstaff clearly does not. First the hostess tried to seat us at a table with no umbrella in the 90 degree sun when there were 10 open tables, half of them with umbrellas. (They should put umbrellas at every table and take them down as the sun goes down).. Our waitress we had yesterday, did not know how to identify that my friends ID was in fact, real.. until we were laughing at the fact that is 100% real and she asked the bartender and he agreed with us. Out of the 4 of us at the table, only 2 of us ordered alcoholic drinks. One of us with a strawberry daiquiri and the other with some cran vodka drink. One of my friends who was not drinking alcohol ordered a non alcoholic daiquiri, and when the bill came, the waitress charged us the same price for the alcoholic and non daiquiri. We knew this could not be right, even though she assured us it was the same price. We brought the check to the bartender to investigate, he assured us the alcoholic one was $9 and the non was no more than $3, and corrected our bill for us. All and all, the food was good but will not probably go back during late lunch hours and only go back to hang with the bartender who knows the deal. I hope that Bob's can invest in training their waitstaff a little better, as our waitress was nice and attentive but she knew little to nothing about the menu and drink menu.

I love Barefoot Bob's! I've been wanting to go here since October. In my Restaurant and Resort marketing class, we watched the Restaurant Nightmares TV show with Gordan Ramsey. The episode was of Barefoot Bob's and I couldn't wait to go in person. To begin, my server was very friendly. My Shirley temple was great; sometimes they're too sweet or not sweet enough at other restaurants, mine was perfect! I tried my first oysters and they had a great presentation. Not bad! I shared the Fisherman platter with my mother, 10/10!! Every single piece of fish from scallops to haddock to clam strips was cooked PERFECTLY. Best fried seafood I had in a while. I'll be coming back here soon!

I'd like to say I was surprised and that the other reviewers were mistaken, but the 1 star ratings are for real. DO NOT EAT HERE. Fine for a drink- in fact, I was expecting dirty taps and skunked draft beer but it was fine. Not made to feel welcome at all. 2 young "hostesses" upon entering the beach side to the outdoor patio exchanged scowling looks without any semblance of a greeting. We arrived at 6p on a Friday evening. Place was crowded. After being seated, we were going to order just drinks and an app - considering the horrible reviews, we wanted to test it first. Orders cup of chowder (tasteless-chewy, something not fresh about it, inedible) and buffalo chicken dip (coagulated cheese curds, chewy chicken, and a splash of franks hot sauce - I guess that's what makes it "buffalo"??? Chips were super stale and we had 2 bites of both chowder and dip before requesting the check. $30 failed experiment - won't get fooled again. Terrible food. Apathetic service. I noticed there was not a single owner response to any of the poor reviews - they probably should pay attention because when summer is over and the tourist/alcoholics business dries up, Kitchen Nighmares (or any other show for that matter) won't touch this place. Another disappointing place that dots this sorry strip of so-called beach in Hull - no wonder people steer clear.

Had Nick as our server and he was great. My wife had an awesome skinny margarita and we split the stuffed mushrooms with a lobster sauce as our app. Didn't eat a full dinner. It really enjoyed what we are, the cocktails and the great service. For a small spot on the beach this a great place! We will be back

Always a good place to stop for decent food with a good menu-something for everyone. Good service and nice servers. They have parking. No dress code at all. Place to go if you're looking for something to eat and you're coming off the beach and might want to sit down and grab a bite that's not a slice of pizza and a soda.

It seemed cute from the outside. Thought it would be a great place. It wasn't that great. The food wasn't good. Turns out this was on Kitchen Nightmares...I guess it still is.

I'm noticing a disappointing trend at Barefoot Bob's lately, one that mimics their pre-"Kitchen Nightmare" days. What was once one of my favorite go to spots for comfort food on Nantasket Beach, has now become a "avoid at all costs" establishment. I was a regular customer, who always brought a companion or two along for lunch or dinner. The food was always good and the atmosphere was fun. I actually preferred the Tiki Tavern look as opposed to Gordon Ramsey's ill-conceived yacht club makeover. The restaurant quickly redecorated back to its old surf bar concept, but it appears that their lackluster attitude is showing signs once more. The last two occasions that I dined there were disappointing. Last time, On our arrival, there was no hostess at her station, yet there were two busboys sitting at a table next to the hostess station. They looked at us, but not once did either one of them say "the hostess will be right back" or at least bothered to go get someone for us. Usually, it's a sit wherever you like kind of deal but it was a little busy in the dining room and we didn't want to get lost in the shuffle of customers. When we were finally acknowledged, we were seated and given sticky menus and our table wasn't the cleanest either. This didn't set a happy tone to our evening. Our server was fine...friendly and attentive. No issues there. But the food was a disappointment. I had the blackened Mahi Tacos, which tasted bland and uncooked. My girlfriend had the Cod Nantasket and it too was just warm, not hot as you'd expect. We asked nicely if they could heat it up for a moment or two, which our server did. When it came back out, it was hot but very watery on the plate, indicating to me that they microwaved it. And that's fine...I know restaurants do this, but for God's sake, re-plate it and take some pride in the presentation. Her meal was rather un-eatable by the time she was halfway done. I couldn't blame her, as I had tried some of it and agreed it was garbage. We decided to just get finished and pay up and leave. We didn't penalize the server as far as the gratuity was concerned. I had no problem with our server. My problem is the overall impression that I get from the place lately. Such as: The owner sitting in the bar yapping with her friends, instead of overseeing the quality control of the restaurant. The unsanitary conditions such as the above mentioned dirty table and sticky menus. And why is it every time I walk into the men's room, I'm stepping into a puddle of water, with overflowing trash receptacles and no towels on the dispenser? Unacceptable. The fact that because the big profits are made at the bar and the outside patio from the drinkers, that somehow patrons who simply wish to eat dinner inside are insignificant. I think my days of being a devoted customer have come to a close. There is a lengthy list of restaurants which appeared on Kitchen Nightmares, that are now closed for business. If they don't step up their game, they could end up another restaurant casualty very soon.

Great view and outdoor seating. good mixed drinks and theres usually a (rotating, i think?) selection of good beer on tap. great place to get a decent dinner in a lively outdoor atmosphere without spending too much. very relaxed and young crowd. big summer hot spot.

Never again!!!! We just came from dinner at Barefoot Bob's and I will never go there again. I am giving a 2 star just because of their Maryland crab cakes that were really good. My son ordered clam chowder it was honestly the worse whatever it was that we ever tasted. The chowder tasted like it had gone bad and they dumped a bottle of lemon juice in it. The chowder was a strange grey color with a ton of crumbled bacon in it. Coming from the Boston area and knowing clam chowder I can tell you this was not chowder in any sense of the word. I myself ordered the fried clam strips another mistake. The clam strips were tasteless and I am still trying to figure out where the clam was. My basket was full of these thin strips of batter but I could neither find a clam nor taste one. I will say the service was great the young woman was very attentive and a great server.

Great food at a good price. Very friendly and helpful bartenders. It is like being on a side street in Jamaica. I had mussels and my friend had a chicken sandwich.

I've been going to Barefoot Bobs for years but I'm fairly certain this past Saturday will be my last trip. For starters I ordered a Cobb wrap with a pasta salad, when it came out with fries I informed my server to which he said he would bring some right out. 15 minutes later when he came to check on our meals (my friend sent her fish back as it didn't taste right) I reminded him again about the pasta salad as I don't eat fries- he once again told me it would be right out. Fast forward another 20 minutes, he comes over with the check and asks if we can close out since he now had to hop on bar- I said that's fine but I paid for a complete meal and only got half since I never got my pasta salad. He instantly copped an attitude and said "well I can give it to go to go but it's only a side so I can't so anything else". Um pasta salad to go...at the beach...on a 90 degree day? No thanks, and ignored the fact I paid for a COMPLETE meal which I did not receive. To top it off when we closed out we had a simple request- $25 dollars on the top card (it was black, shiny and the TOP card) and the rest on the red (red and on the BOTTOM) of course he messed that up as well. Again calling him out on it he barely responded. Bobs I used to love you but you service Saturday killed it for me and my group.

The worst group of teens and miserable adults that never made anything with their lives work here. Rude and non accommodating. I show up here with a group of 7 including a 6 month old baby. So its 90+ degrees and these malcontent cretins make us wait outside the gate for 20 mins, rather than letting us sit inside and putting the baby in the shade we had to put her seat on the concrete once our arms got tired. Finally we get in and ask if we can have a certain group of tables. The waitress says yes and we do the hard work of putting these tables together since they are to busy, lazy, and occupied with their cell phones to do it. The joy of finally getting off scolding pavement that resembles that of the surface of the sun is short lived. As the leader of the trolls informs her minion that the tables cannot be combined, and so the minion starts pulling it away with our stuff on it. At this point the thrill of eating at barefoot bobs have ended. We quickly head out and make our way towards out parked car. We stop at the red parrot to let the kids use the restroom. Here we are greeted by devin which is joyous and professional. She informs us that the deck is closed but the dining area is open. We say its ok and are led inside. Now im enjoying a tasty sam summer as my melted flesh from the sun exposure at bobs slowly cools and coagulates. Word of advise, I understand that its hard to find good help at a seasonal place but finding local over privaledged kids that care more about their next text than their next customer is a bad way to run a business. Even if it mean finding older people that want a second income or costs you a few more dollars in payroll make the sacrifice and keep the business running right.

Great location obviously and friendly staff, but that's really the only positive thing about this place. Food was awful except for the free hoodsie with kids meal. Had to send both meals back. One had undercooked bacon. Chicken did not look to be fresh off grill - looked like it was cooked before and fridgerared. My sandwich came on a hot dog roll?? Also just a lot of little aggravating things. We finally get meals..took about 40 min, but it wasn't crowded...ketchup bottle empty, Asked for onion rings - got fries, asked for pickles, none came. No booster seats. Not the absolute worst experience, but wouldn't go again...unless I had to. It's such a good location, I don't think this place could go out of business if they tried.

Im not sure where to start. Basically there is no reason to go here, under any circumstances...... EVER. Don't let the patio sway you, this place smells, is filled with flies, is ridiculously over priced, the staff is rude and the food is AWFUL. Ive had several undercooked meals their and the staff has been rude each time. Do not go to Barefoot Bobs.

Not what it used to be. You used to get huge portions for a good price at a place that felt family friendly. Now the portions are small, presentations lacking, and clientele are all at the bar.

My husband and I were putzing around the waterfront on a warm, bright, sun-soaked day and decided to stop here for drinks and lunch. There was a short wait so we put our name in and went inside to grab a drink. I ran to the lavatory while my husband waited for the drinks; when I came back he said, "don't count on this being any good. The kitchen door swung open and it looks dirty in there." Got the drinks, returned outside to hang near the hostess stand to wait. Watched as they took an umbrella from one table and put it on another. I thought to myself, "oh god, they're going to try and sit us at that table with no umbrella." I burn like a roman candle in the sun, blast my Irish heritage. Sure I used sunscreen but I didn't really want to sweat in the sun while I ate lunch. The hostess came up and said, "So we have a table but it has no umbrella blah blah blah." I said sorry but we'll wait. They took an umbrella from another table and put it on a high top and seated us there. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else? My bloody mary was way too spicy (and the shrimp that came with it tasted like nothing...literally tasteless) so I got a hurricane like my husband. Pretty good. Waitress was very nice. Despite my husband's warning of the kitchen (I mostly thought he was being facetious), we ordered. Hubs ordered a turkey club I got the surf and turf with steak tips and baked stuffed shrimp with broccoli and a caesar salad as sides. I am very, very picky about my steak being cooked properly so when i ordered medium rare and the server repeated it back as "medium" i enforced medium rare. Waited a long time and had another drink; they were really busy. I heard the umbrella-less table next to us stop a waitress on her way by and ask if anyone would come help them. She indicated if someone has already come over then no, she cannot. ooook. they said no one had been there so she went....somewhere?...to get someone to wait on them. in the meantime, they left. Food came out. Tried the stuffing on the shrimp and it was like eating sand. Steak tips. Well done. Broccoli? I don't think they steamed it for even 30 seconds it was so undercooked. I have never in my life sent anything back to a kitchen (because I am a giant push over and always feel bad) but this whole experience was horrible. The waitress stopped by, I told her, she asked if I wanted to wrap it up (uh, no) and I said i was all set and I didn't want anything else, I'll stick to a liquid lunch I guess. She dropped the bill off and had removed my meal for which I was grateful. As she walked by I thanked her for taking the meal off the bill; we left her a $15 tip on a $35 check and sat there to finish our drinks. No thanks you's from anyone, no apologies but meh, whatever. I know this palce will stay open because it's on a beach and it might actually be fun for music and drinks ONLY but good lord that was one terrible experience. I had a couple of friends tell me they had great food and service when they go but I will just take their word for it. No, thanks.

Try their maggot appetizers. Literally WORMS in the seafood. It smells of rancid seaside waste (but is nothing compared to their bathrooms!) and we should have known. But when we received the order of "fresh" seafood appetizers, the friend I was with screamed. Live worms. Maggots, I guess. Hey, it's summer! And they have a whole new season of not giving a shit! Try their maggots!

Came only because we wanted to make a decision for ourselves after seeing it on Kitchen Nightmares. Disappointed to see that they didn't keep up with the changes. More disappointed with the food and very slow service. Ordered clan chowder and 2 clam strips. The clam strips had too much breading, so much so that there were clumps of clam strips more than actual just clam strips. The fries that they came with were mediocre to begin with, but they covered most of the plate and were not that good. The only thing decent about the plate was the coleslaw. As for the clam chowder, it was passable, but I wouldn't call it clam chowder... It had bacon and cheese in it... Should've listened to Chef Ramsey.

They deserve the bad reviews. The bartender on 8/30 2014 tried to rip me off. Don't insult my intelligence, now I'm not a rocket scientist but when I ask for a Bacardi and coke and you serve me one then when I ask for a second and watch you pour well rum into my drink and I call you on it and say that's what you did for the first drink when I saw you pour Bacardi it tends to make me want to smash your face in. Don't lie to me but because I'm a nice guy I still left you a good tip. Just know I'm aware of what happened and I hope you fall in a bucket of aids. Now go fuck yourself fauxhawk bartender.

Where do I even begin. I was excited to try this place when I was visiting my grandparents and I remember it from being on kitchen nightmares. Needless to say, this was the worst experience. Service was slow (I was there easily 1 hr 30 min during lunch hours) and it didnt seem to me that my waiter didnt want to be there. The drinks (I got a long island Ice Tea) was watery and it didnt even seem like there was tea or alcohol in it. Not worth the money (Spent 10$ on that) The decor was blah. It was dirty and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in months. And finally, the food/plates and silverware: My glass with my drink was very dross and the silverwear didnt seem clean to me. And the food was at best sub par. I got a lobster roll because its my favorite thing to get when I am visiting MA. But I will most definitely go some place different. The lobster was chewy and there wasnt a good balance between the lobster and the rest of the ingredients in the mixture. Bread was soggy and needed to be toasted and the lettuce that was on my bread was wilted and gross. I mean I felt like a lobster roll was something that you couldnt really screw up but boy was I wrong. Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to this place. Dont waste your money!! Go someplace else.

Great location, massive opportunities for success that are not executed! We WANT to like this place, BUT...dirty bar floors with holes in it; a one-person, grimy ladies room that it not maintained well enough during busy times; greasy, brown soda lines at the outdoor bar= GROSS. By far the biggest problem is the miserable staff. SMILE people! You are in the customer service business. Hostesses, servers, and most bar staff all look like they are in a deep depression. Owners- these are EASY fixes! Take pride in your business!

My fiancé and I were really excited to try Barefoot Bob's because we'd seen it on Kitchen Nightmares a little while ago. We drove an hour and a half, not realizing they hadn't kept up with Ramsay's improvements. When we walked in, there was nobody in the dining area and about 6 people spread around the bar area chatting with the incredibly loud bartender man and watching TV. We ordered the popcorn shrimp and buffalo chicken appetizers and were not impressed. Something was wrong with the combination of the batter, cocktail sauce and shrimp. I tried a piece without cocktail sauce, then picking the batter off the shrimp and trying it plain, but no matter which way I tried it, the taste was just strange. Not sure if it was a funky batter recipe or weird cocktail sauce, but my fiancé and I couldn't eat very much of it at all. The buffalo chicken was ok I guess, but the celery and carrots that accompanied the chicken were disgusting. The celery was rubbery and bendable, and the carrots were dried out and had brown strips along the edges. We addressed the funky veggies with the server and she was very apologetic and made the effort to make things better, which was nice. For dinner I ordered the Lobster Roll and my fiancé ordered the Seafood Sampler, both with sides of asparagus. The lobster roll consisted of 7 claws, long strings of lobster, and dried out chunks. I'm not sure where the string portions came from, but that was a first for me to find in a lobster roll. It was far too large for me to eat like a sandwich so I picked out a few claws before finding the hunks of dried out bits and it put me off completely. It was entirely unappetizing and I couldn't eat the rest. My fiancé's Seafood Sampler was terribly bland, oily and mushy. Rubbery scallops and mushy, unseasoned fish made this dish impossible to eat, and the shrimp were very clearly frozen and not fresh (which is ironic given the restaurant is adjacent to the beach). He only took a few bites before we had it taken back. Not to mention that both of our asparagus sides were wrinkly and dried out. We asked the waitress to check how old the asparagus was and she said it had come in the day earlier. I'm not sure where they're getting their asparagus from but I've never seen asparagus look like that after 24 hours. We told the waitress about the lobster roll - pointing out the specific dry, brown chunks as well as the strings. We also informed her about the unsatisfying Seafood Sampler and she apologized and offered us something else to eat. Honestly we were just disappointed by the whole experience and wanted to get out of there. The server removed both dinners from our bill without hesitation, leading us to believe this is common practice. All in all it was a shockingly bad experience and the only redeeming factor was the waitress who was super nice, apologetic and provided great service, despite horrific food.

By it's outward appearance, it's not what one would define as being a "classy" place. However, one cannot always judge a book by it's cover and automatically assume that it's not a decent place to sit, have drinks, eat, and socialize with friends. On the contrary the atmosphere was decent, despite the lack of class, and the food was pretty decent in amount, taste, and price. It was even cozy enough to sit back and chill w/ a few drinks. I would definitely go back to this place, if and when I am in the area.

Decided to try Bobs after seeing the kitchen makeover show particularly I wanted to try the fish and chips after seeing Gordon Ramsey make them there. I'm afraid they certainly weren't to Gordon's original recipe, I found the batter to be too thin, a personal preference, and I also prefer the fish to be a whole fillet not "fish bits" I'm also constantly surprised at how many seafood places still use frozen chips (fries). After saying that the actual fish itself was delicious, flaky, white and mild tasting. Slaw and tartare sauce were nice and tasted fresh. The highlight of the meal was the clam chowder app i had, delicious broth with red skin potatoes and juicy clams, a winner! Service was prompt and friendly, I'm sure we will be back, there were several menu items I'm looking forward to trying on our next visit.

I was super excited to try out barefoot bob's beach grill after watching their episode on kitchen nightmare. and after a day of beach fun, i dragged my group of 12 friends there. The patio looked nice but because our party was so large, we were seated inside. the decor was poorly done and it was so dimly lit. For starters, their sodas were flat and tasteless. We ordered onion rings and their "famous" clam chowders... the onion rings were ehh, nothing too great but not bad. their clam chowder had to be the saltiest thing ever! When I was able to flag down a waitress and asked if it was normally that salty, her response was ... "well, its made by the ocean"... I'm not sure what that meant ... They ran out of the lobster roll and so me and half of my group ordered their fisherman's plate. nothing but batter and disgusting oil, no taste... just BLEH ! their mash was cold and there was absolutely no seasoning what so ever (should've poured the clam chowder over it). mickey d's makes better fries than them! my waitress was nice and although she didn't bring us everything in a timely manner, she didn't forget anything either. its safe to say that i will not be returning to Barefoot Bob's ever again.

Dined here for the first time yesterday and I will never return. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled as I feel violated for spending my hard-earned money here. First, the good: -Our waitress was friendly -The Lobster Roll sandwich was good -Stuffed quahogs were good The Bad: -I watched from afar as the bartender making my drink used her bare hand as a strainer -My fiancee's mojito tasted like sugar water -The service was very slow. ~35 mins for 3 entrees. -The stuffed shrimp was nothing more than a ball of bread stuffing -The seafood sampler had scallops chewy as erasers and haddock that tasted like tin. We did not complain about any of these issues at the time and in hindsight I wish we would have. Two of the three entrees should have been sent back. A $90 meal for three of us and it makes me feel ill thinking of how badly it was wasted.

My friends and I decided to try out Barefoot Bob's after a nice fun day at the beach. When I first saw it, the tiki bar looked nice and the out door patio looked nice but because we had such a big party we decided to eat indoors rather than wait for a table. (Thank god because it ended up down pouring rain). Some of us were disappointed that there were no "Famous bob's lobster rolls" and all of our soda's were flat. Half my friends, including my boyfriend ordered the fishermans platter (mix of fried clams, scallops, and shrimp). The fisherman's platter was horrible. Nothing but grease and oil. The scallops and shrimps were tiny and the clam strips barely had any clams to it at all. Definitely not worth the $20. I've definitely had WAY better. Then there was the steak tips with BBQ flavor. Half the steak tips were raw on the inside and extremely chewy and soft. Definitely undercooked. My friends had the chowder and it was way too salty. They also didn't enjoy their cheeseburgers. (idk how you could mess that one up! Apparently even McDonalds does a better job at making burgers. smh) Overall, not worth going to eat. You're better off buying food from the stands if you're in Hull, less expensive and would taste better. I can't believe this place was on Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay. We definitely will not be back.

We are regulars but tonight we were disappointed in the service. Had to remind our server that we had a soup before meal came out. The wrong pasta was given with meal & desert was served burnt. All with a smile on her face. We will return because we do love most of the staff there. This is the first time this female has waited on us. She should stick to behind the scenes

Um, where do I start? Its bad...like really bad. I ended up going this past week to show the place some support after catching the episode of Kitchen Nightmare. My bullet points are below. 1. This place is not clean, almost to the point of a constant odor. 2. The food is "meh", clams and scallops are not good...I mean, we're in New England, seafood should be a staple if its on the menu. 3. The service was slow and unprofessional Just nothing good came out of the experience.

So I popped in here on one of those Sunday afternoons in April that ended up being way warmer than anyone expected. The waitress informed us that they were out of about half of the appetizers and a few other things, too. She said they just got swamped. Well, hey. It happens. One of my friends tried this cajun brocolli pasta-majigy and it was actually pretty stinkin' good. A little sleazy? Yes. Tacky? Majorly. Big bar? Check. Obnoxious college kids? Yup. But I can totally see this place being awesome after a day spent in the surf across the street, on Nantasket Beach. Yeh, I'm a fan.

Despite my better judgement after a piss poor experience last summer I returned. Never again! Last summer was probably the worst rudest service I've ever dealt with in my life, to the point where our daft, surly, miserable waitress proceeded to loudly talk about our table right in front of us to the host completely unprovoked. On to the most recent experience. (Sunday, 4:30 PM 6/23/13) I'll preface it with this, I am in fact currently in the service industry in a front of house position so when I'm blatantly lied to by an unprofessional, disrespectful host about how 2 parties that came 20 minutes after we had been patiently waiting due to only having 3 top tables available...they're all 4 tops! Absolute BS. When in fact right in front of us the server of the aforementioned tables came up and said only seat her with larger parties despite a wait! You don't get to pick and choose based on how much money you think you'll make per head. Had that waitress had us as guests she likely would've been in for a solid drink bill plus food and well over 20%. The server we did end up getting was in fact nice but completely forgot out appetizer, she responded by saying "shit I forgot" but at least took responsibility. The appetizer came after our entrees were entirely finished and was still on the bill. Pretty terrible but regardless she still got 20% because she was probably what seemed to be the only non rude person in the entire establishment. If you're looking for a place to spend your hard earned money while on the beach do not go here! There are other places on the beach with a million times better service, better food and won't rid you of every last bit of restraint you have.

This place has been going down hill for years. It's finally hit rock bottom. Went there today for lunch....most of the staff is gone and the new staff is rude and lazy. One of our foursome was not eating so we were informed we could not have high top outside unless EVERYONE ordered food. WTF? The place is dirty.......God know's what the kitchen is like. I hope someone buys it and fixes what is wrong. It's just awful. We used to go everyday during the summer. Not anymore. Now we do the Parrot of Daddies.......which are not much better but at least the people are decent and they're clean. Bye, bye Bob's.

I went after kitchen nightmares. They betrayed Gordon Ramsey. I looked at the window sill and saw it was dirty. in the episode he touched it and it was dirty. The décor went back to the way it was then in the episode. I sat down, the waitress informed me that they were out of everything (i.e. Crab cakes, Lobster rolls, and mussels). Me and my sister ordered chowders. They said they only had 1 chowder left, but the waitress was nice enough to try to get 2 chowders. I got it and it was very salty. Then I ordered a mixed grill with steak tips and ribs, it was pretty good actually. They did not keep Gordon's recipes. I may go back.

So, we used to go here a lot. Maybe not a LOT, but frequently enough that my fiance would always bring up the fish tacos whenever we were deciding on where to eat. I also have a shellfish allergy, which had never been a problem going to BFB's before. We went this past Saturday night (Memorial Day weekend) and I had a strange feeling as soon as the obnoxious hags at the bar started screaming in their drunk self aggrandized rage, that we were in for it. We got to our picnic table, which was the least of my worries at that point, only to find that the gloriously large menu had been whittled down to one single page. I have a shellfish allergy. These new changes, were not ok. My choices were 1) side salad, and 2) baked potato. Where did the swordfish go?? What about the turkey tips?? OH, and they said that the grill and kitchen area are VERY SMALL, and when I ate there in the past, they were surprised that I could, because everything is cooked in the same grill space. WHAT THE FUCK, GUYS?! I've been coming here, bringing in visitors from out of town, and each time I tell you about my allergies you *appeared* to be diligent about it. Apparently this wasn't the case. UNACCEPTABLE! I can't believe I never had a reaction. Thank God. This upsets me because my options for restaurants are very limited to begin with (shellfish, nut, soy, sesame, legume allergies aren't conducive to lots of variety, unfortunately) and I am heartbroken that things have been changed, and apparently never were legit to begin with. I feel like I've been cheated on! Sad face. The icing on the cake was our waitress saying that "everything's a mess" when we were mentioning that the menu has been reduced down to very little, and it seemed like things had changed. A mess indeed. I hope the owners can find some dedicated staff to help keep the place in order, and bring back some of the good stuff, at least for the people who go for the seafood. I however, won't eat there again only because of my allergies. Very curious to see the episode of Gordon Ramsey's show - I am very upset that Gordon profits off of shenanigans like this. I thought he was supposed to HELP restaurants get better, not worse.

We sat outside and enjoyed the sea air. It was really fun to be literally across the street from the beach. I don't like fish, so the burger it was. It was okay, but the experience was worth it. :) Definitely try this out. The fish and seafood on other people's tables looked great. Wish I liked it...

All I can ask is...what the heck happened to this place? Bobs never pretended to be anything more than it was. A sort of tiki themed year round bar with pretty good food. And that was fine. They close for a month or two because Mr. TV star (?) Gordon Ramsey is gonna feature them on the show. I dunno, I don't watch foodie shows. Anyway, this place is just not fun anymore. The new and "improved" decor is lame and loosely attempts to be nautical vs tropical. Dark blue or black walls have replaced reed grass wall coverings and goofy framed knots have replaced surfing schwag. This is Hull, people, not Nantucket. Menu is a mere shadow of it was. Mr Ramsey must have deemed the old menu as too confusing for the average patron to comprehend. Puh-lease! Save your business while you can. Nobody's gonna mind the old barefoot's.

I was expecting so much more from a revamped restaurant on Kitchen Nightmares. You would expect better, right? I hyped this place up for relatives visiting out of town and was embarrassed when it turned out to be the WORST food I had eaten in a long time. Seafood shouldn't be something you get wrong at a place on the ocean, but their whole clam plate was disgusting. Way too much oil and grease, I couldn't even taste the clams, there was no seasoning on them at all, just really bland. My husband who is a Pescatarian had the chowder and was appalled to find out they put bacon in it and harldly any clams. If you use bacon in your chowder please describe it on the menu. So many people have different dietary needs it is so helpful to have descriptions. Also don't say "famous" chowder, when its not. The service was slow, our waitress took a long time with our drinks, she forgot items, and when we asked for more orange juice for our 3 year old, and she forgot it, she asked if we still needed it. Umm...yeah of course we do! There was a complaint at the adjacent table by a couple, one of their burgers was cooked rare and they wanted it medium, they sent it back. As the waitress approached the table she acted nice and sweet about it but as she brushed passed our table she whispered profanities. Oh and be prepared for smokers if you are sitting outside! The table in front of ours right near my son, people smoked. I was extremely angry. I know of restaurants that have patio seating and still ask that smokers smoke outside of the eating area. The management didn't seem to care. I want a good experience when I go out to eat not a horrible one. I will not be going to Barefoot Bob's ever again.

We stopping in this weekend for a drink and late lunch after a day at the beach. Going in, I wasn't expecting a culinary experience - it's a beach bar - just decent food and a cold beer. The wait for a table was only about 10 minutes. Both the bartender and our server were very nice and attentive. The hostess - well, she was what you would expect from a high school/college kid with an attitude. Really, is it that hard to give a time estimate when you say there's a wait? Sorry I asked you to do your job. I had a chicken sandwich and my fiance had a fried oyster sandwich - both were much better than expected. What's really driving the two star rating is the smoking. Ok, I understand that technically smoking on a patio is a loophole in the no smoking law, but really? The majority of restaurants and bars have taken is upon themselves to make smokers go outside the patio area. Allowing people to smoke at their table? Unacceptable. Period. The vast majority of us don't want to be inhaling your second hand smoke while we eat. It's disgusting and trashy - way to be a classless bar.

Ok - I feel like I'm being "Punked" by Barefoot Bob's... it's never been fine dining - but it was always decent. Revisited about a week ago - the clam chowder was nearly flavorless with a gelatinous texture and we also ordered the crab (or lobster?) stuffed mushrooms - the mushrooms were cooked decently but there was no crab/lobster in that stuffing :/ Total rip off... I ordered a broiled something or other - and I got fries w/it but had asked for a baked potato. The hubs had some sandwich which was also forgettable. C'mon Bob - get it together!!

My husband and I live in Hull. We have frequently gone to this establishment before and after Kitchen Nightmares. Have had some awesome meals. Tonight my usual Haddock NANTASKET was horrible and missing ingredients, the service was slow..which is bad news with our 18 month old grandson and other family there to celebrate my birthday. At the front as we were waiting to pay our bill we watched as the hostess sat at the front desk-podium and took 10 pictures of herself making several faces on her phone! Yes 10...we watched and counted! I was totally embarrassed that I chose this place to celebrate with my guest after talking it up as one of the better places in Hull. The only reason I would give the second star is because we have had good food before and hope this was just an off day.

Rude wait staff and the food is really generic. They give little effort or pride in their service and food. The only redeeming quality of this place is the view. They refused to move an umbrella over from one table for my pregnant wife. They were also irritated we were not drinking non stop (We only ordered food and iced tea)

Service is horrendous!!! After a long wait we finally got beers and miraculously found seats at the bar. The bartenders then proceeded to ignore our requests for a menu (there were plenty stacked up behind the bar). We got frustrated and just got up and retrieved a menu from the hostess (we shared one menu). After a few minutes the hostess came over and ASKED FOR THE MENU BACK!!! She said she had to seat a table and ran out of menus. Totally unbelievable. Are we not as important as the tables? We did not even order food yet. She noticed our disgust and said "never mind" and walked away. She was a sweet young girl and to her disadvantage she is clearly not properly trained. Watching the poor hygiene behind the bar (the lime in my corona looked like it was picked up off the floor - dirt and debris all over it) we decided to skip the food and leave - very annoyed! This place has so much potential - sad to see it run the way it is. Staff needs to be replaced with friendly folks who make the guests feel welcome. Clean up your bar - gross!

The staff is terrible and extremely unorganized. It took forever to get a drink and even longer to get shrimp cocktail. Shrimp cocktail! The only good thing about this place is the view. But if you're looking for a clean, reasonably priced restaurant, stay clear!

I like trying new places to eat because sometimes you find a real jewel in the rough but this place is way too rough and there's nothing good about this eatery. This ghastly small, cramped, and loud pub is full of loud and obnoxious patrons and waitstaff. The food is bad and not fresh. I don't know how you screw up chilli but they found a way where the meat was mushy and the cheese was awful! The waitress was slow and unapologetic about it. When I was brought the wrong meal, I got attitude. I don't recommend this place.

Solid tips and good beach day fare. Rob is a good bartender and food was quick, clean and tasty on an 80 degree day. Judging by the other reviews, I was VERY pleasantly surprised.

It makes me sad to give this place an updated one star review but I really have no choice. Bob's used to be our "go-to" place in Hull when we had guests visit and everyone we brought here loved it. But, those days are long gone and after today (when we use the last of our Groupons) we probably will never eat here again. Like I said, we LOVED this place: Great pizzas, great wings, great apps, great pasta dishes, interesting specials etc. We loved it so much when there was a Groupon deal a few months back, we purchased four of them. Now we've been forcing ourselves to use them up and not waste money and every meal we've had in the process has been subpar. I'll take a brief moment to discuss the decor. Say what you want about what Ramsay did or didn't do, I thought his decor was better. Maybe BB's/Hull isn't perfect for nautical knots but it certainly looked cleaner with the new chairs/new paint colors etc. For whatever reason now when you go in there, the decor is somewhere in between the old and new - some new items are there but old decor (like the horrible thatched matting on the wall and cheesy flip flops) have been put back up and it just looks horrible. If you want to go back to the old tackiness, go ahead, but do it 100%. The mismatched of tacky surf joint meets modern nautical just looks horrendous. On to the food. As many other Yelper's have noted, their menu is extremely limited compared to what it used to be and while that approach generally helps a restaurant improve food quality, I feel at Bob's it has done the opposite. It doesn't help that they have pretty much eliminated every dish that was absolutely delicious before. It seems that they are trying to specialize in fried seafood. Of the four Groupons purchased, here's how the trips played out: 1) Ordered a Chicken Wrap, Cobb Style & Pulled Pork Sandwich. The Chicken Wrap was ok enough - nothing special. Friend who got the Pulled Pork Sandwich really enjoyed it. 2) Ordered Baked Cod and Mixed Grill (with steak tips and chicken). My baked cod was absolutely disgusting. I don't know if they just buy a terrible quality of fish or don't know how to cook it but it wasn't flaky at all and it was drowning in so much butter the bread crumb topping was all mushy. I could barely finish it. Fiancee had the mixed grill - said chicken was mediocre and steak tips were tough. 3) This time we brought a group of people. I went for the Cobb Salad as I didn't want anything fried (apparently a crime here) and after last time's baked cod disaster, I opted for a salad. It was decent enough, but it's a salad. Fiancee got the fish and chips - also disappointing. The piece of fish was mushy and fell apart (hence us not thinking they get very good fish there). The other two with us got fried clam rolls, said they were satisfactory but nothing to really write home about. Tonight is trip #4, the day the Groupon expires. I'll probably just end up getting a few sides of vegetables because at this point everything else was just a disappointment. Looks like the Sea Dog will have to go back to being our go to place in Hull.

On one of the first hot days of spring, I shamefully spent about 7 hours here lounging, eating, and drinking. We scored a great outdoor table, friends came and went, our waitress kept 'em comin', and I got a nice tan. Their salads are huge, fresh, and tasty. I tried their onion rings....crispy. The only think that's missing is a raw bar!

Omg this place is so f-in gross. Came here during a weekday afternoon. They had 2 waitresses working both of whom were trying to get every customer out of their so fast. 2 hostesses were just sitting there reading books and texting. That stuff wouldnt normally bother me but IM PAYING TO EAT HERE and the service is unbearable. The food was so disgusting and it wasnt like we had a complicated order. Steak tips and grilled chicken. I wouldnt serve that chicken to a dog im not kidding you it was so disgusting i couldnt even swallow it. The waitress brang the check over DIRECTLY after we got our food without asking us how things were or if we needed anything or perhaps if i just got instant food poisoning from looking at their nasty food. The ONLY reason this place is getting a star is because they filled my wine glass to the very top. Thanks!

This little dive in Hull was fun...set in a great spot across from the beach. Service is OK (certainly better than the Parrot - HORRIBLE). They had this great menu with lots of choices (ok, more than they needed). Pasta. Steak. Seafood. Salads. Sandwhiches. REAL mashed potatoes. Yummy veggies. Amazing buffalo wings. I hadn't been in ~ a month...stopped by, mouth salivating thinking about those steak tips and yummy mashed. Whoa! No longer the tiki-bar decor inside..ok, that's kinda nice! I step outside and do a double-take....am I am a rest area picnic ground on the interstate where pervs try to pick each other up or...? PICNIC tables? Really??? Half of the seating is gone (round tables that sat 2-6), replaced by cheezy picnic tables arranged in a militant line from the front to the back. Ok, it's a nice day...I can go with the flow. I CLIMB into the table (yes, one of the JOYS of picnic tables, for those of you that don't remember because hell...who would voluntarily sit in one when there are other options...like staying in your car in the rest area...but I digress). I ask the hostess "what's the deal with the new decor?". She says Gordon somone-or-other (some "celebrity" chef) has decided to "help" BFB out. Um....he's a chef, right? How exactly does that qualify him to be an interior decorator? Anyway. She hands me the menu. Or shall I say she hands me one 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper with writing on just one side. The old BFB menu was, gosh, 8 pages? 9? Now? Maybe 10 entrees and 6 appetizers. Mashed potatoes....GONE. Buffalo wings...GONE (oh, wait...they had "chicken fingers" that could be served Buffalo style. Like you get at Wendy's. No thanks.). I say "oh, no! My wings! My mashed...gone!" and she says "Don't worry, we still have a lot of the stuff from the old menu - just ask your server.". Ok, so maybe all is not lost and I will get my app, my tips and my mashed after all. Server comes over, after I've looked the menu over and I ask about the mashed. In a sarcastic voice she replies "If it isn't on the menu, we don't HAVE it.", as if I am some simpleton for asking such an outrageous question. Ok then. I should have gotten up and left. But no. I wanted the damn tips. So I order them. Bloody, rare, mooing...cow with a chain saw. No, seriously - I say those exact 8 words. I worked in the F&B biz a long time, and I know you can always cook a steak more, but once it's overcooked, it's going in the trash. I wait. My ice tea arrives. No sweetener to be found, no waitress to request it from. I "suck it up" and drink it as is. I wait...I wait some more. The place is "dead" - one other PICNIC table has folks seated at it and there are people at the bar, drinking. The food arrives with the MIA waitress and by now my *ss is sore from shifting on the plank of wood that serves as a seat in this PICNIC table. Now you've got to understand...I have a, uhum, generous posterior. Plenty of cushion, so I shouldn't be uncomfortable sitting on a plank of woo-- I mean PICNIC table. But I am (which is - duh!- why nobody uses PICNIC tables!) Hmmm... was this done purposely to make people eat and leave quickly? (This was a "problem" with the old BFB...it was so nice out there that you'd snag a table, eat, and sit, drink, sit longer, drink more and leave 2 hours later). Ok folks, I get that you want to turn the tables more quickly, but if it is so uncomfortable (and quite frankly, visually unappealing) then people won't sit there TO BEGIN WITH, that sort of defeats the whole purpose of redeocrating, now doesn't it? Again, I digress. I tell the server I'm uncomfortable and ask if it is OK to move inside. She agrees so I follow her in. Again, it's dead inside - I am the only one seated in the dining area. I look down at my plate and the baked potato has cheese, bacon and scallions all over it. I distinctly told her "butter and sour cream". I point this out and she says "they just come like this". Well goody for you, sweetie, but I am ALLERGIC to onions (yes, scallions=onions). And quite frankly, me and my generous posterior don't need extra calories of bacon and cheese, in addition to the butter and sour cream that I requested. She takes the potato with her (picks it up off my plate!!) so that I can eat the rest of my meal...I'm hoping she washed her hands well, but so hungry at this point that I don't care. Tips were FAR from bloody, raw, mooing, cow with a chain saw. Half were "medium" (I'm being generous), 2 were "rare" and the rest cooked through entirely with no pink (medium-well). I suck it up, yet again, and eat them. I am 3/4 way though my meal when - tuh-dah! - my baked potato arrives. With cheese on it. But no bacon. What the....? I give up, ask for the check and leave. I probably went here 1X/week in the summer and about 1X/month in the winter (I live close by). Keep your picnic tables - I won't be back.. Bet they don't last a year.

I had bought 2 Groupons and decided rather then wasting the 2nd I would go back and give it another go. I am so glad I did, we were all happy, but did not dare try the steak tips again. My husband tried the ribs and he is still raving about them, the kids got a burger from the adult menu and a pizza and I got a baked fish dish. They did now show on the menu that they had mashed potatoes as a side but they do and give you a nice size portion. We really enjoyed it, I was undecided between 3 or 4 stars, but we had to wait quite a while for a seat even though a lot of the tables were empty, the waitress told us later 1 of the staff had gone home as they did not expect it to be busy. We will definitely give it another shot and it will not be on a Monday or Tuesday like my 1st experience. Hopefully I'll be back here increasing my stars.

This place is nasty I was seated in a dirty booth with a sticky top, my girl that I was with wanted to leave but I stood firm, I should have listened to her, like i said first impression was this place is nasty, that's all I can say, the floor has holes in it and you can see throught them, the food is all frozen stuff, why do I constantly pick bad places to go to? Why? Maybe I'm bad luck? Anyway, whatever Ramsey did here this place looks nothing like, this is nasty, the food it horrible, I had Chowder, Fish and chips and a side of Botchalism as I got sick from this place, Nasty with a capital N. Oh and I love it when the server went "What you'se getting from the bar?" and I answered 2 cokes and she said, "Really? from the bar you want Coke" this took like 15 minutes to do as she stopped to text, hit somebody from the kitchen, grab a fry off a plate going by and have a cigarette, and may I add the bar is like 12 feet away from my booth. My girl, she ordered nothing but the coke and didn't even drink it. the chowder came out in a coffee cup, I can't make this up. the fish and raw chips was horrid. Ugh I'm getting sick writing this. Never in a million hours would I ever go back to this place. You can just tell when people who work here just don't care about the place they are working at. Needless to say I'm pretty sure the food I didn't touch was probably eaten by the waitress. may god have mercy on the soul of this restaurant.

Spent the weekend in the area for a wedding - our group of 16 was looking for reasonably priced seafood. We found it here at Barefoot Bob's - seaside atmosphere with wonderful seafood. I hope I get to go back sometime soon.

Awful food. I have been here in the past, but only for drinks. This time I sat down for food with a group of friends. It took 10 minutes before anyone even came over to take our drink order then 20 more minutes for the majority of the drinks to arrive and the waitress to take our order. I was the unlucky one at the table and it took nearly forty minutes before my drink decided to show up. Our waitress, despite her short comings when it came to timing, was very friendly and nice and offered me a free drink for the wait. I have been known to be won over by a pretty girl giving me a free drink. So the food finally arrived, I was splitting a burger and fried clam bellies with someone else and god was it awful. The burger was as bland as it gets and overcooked. It would not kill you to add some seasoning to the meat before cooking it. Even a little salt and pepper would help. Also, medium rare should not be the same thing as a hockey puck. As for the fried clams, it is very simple to clean clams. Consider doing this before frying them so that I am not crunching on sand the whole time I eat them. We had heard that kitchen nightmares was there a few weeks ago so I asked the bus boy about it. He told me that Gordon Ramsay screwed everything up so they had to switch the menu back. I am baffled as to how a famous chef's recipes could possibly be worse than the crap I just ate. I have never been compelled to write a review before this and probably won't be again, but this food was terrible. I complletely excuse the drinks not coming because stuff can happen and people make mistakes and forget sometimes. I don't blame the waitress at all because she was very nice. The problem is the kitchen. Not cleaning clams is inexcusable in Iowa nevermind a restaurant that overlooks the ocean. And having bad recipes is not a one time mistake. Feel free to drink here, but eat at the Red Parrot or Jake's instead. Anywhere, but here.

Really liked the clam chowder and we got the fisherman's platter to split which was plenty of food (we took a bunch home). Scallops nice and sweet and all cooked perfectly.

Had a Groupon and went on Mother's day. Sat ourselves to a table inside. The chairs were covered with crumbs and not wiped down. Had the worst cheeseburger I have ever had. The onion rings were very dry and tasted like seafood....no doubt because I had a few little fried clams on my plate and I detest clams. Bar looked well stocked. So if you want to hang on the beach, go there for a few drinks and eat because you're starving.....this place would be the perfect dive. They need Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible to visit!

I was really hoping for better given that Gordon Ramsay had been here. The decor was fine and menu looked okay. What we received was mediocre at best. Fried clams and calamari were both way overcooked. Steak tips were okay, just okay. The best thing was the tartar sauce. A real disappointment.

Went back for the first time in years. Worst service I have ever had. We ended up leaving the money on the table and just leaving because we could not get someone to come over so we could pay our bill. They dropped the bill and we waited over 30 minutes with our money out. The restaurant wasn't even full- it was lunch time on a chilly sunny day in April and only the inside was open. I am never going back.

Caveat: middle of the day, off-season, some people at the bar, and three tables taken. Summary: would probably not come back if we were in the area, there are some other places to check out. 1. We walked in and were told to sit wherever we wanted. One table had someone's homework on it, another was dirty. We ended up sitting at a 6-top because it was clean, I don't care if anyone liked it or not. 2. Service was perfectly nice but slooooooooow. We were there for 1 1/2 hours for no good reason. 3. Prices were a little steep for the dive bar type setting, honestly. Husband got seafood pasta alfredo, which he liked. I got a cajun shrimp po boy, or what was supposed to be. It ended up being fried shrimp, with the tails still on, on a hard slab of toasted baguette, with tartar sauce on the side. This was not possible as a sandwich, so I ate the shrimp and dipped the bread in my husband's pasta when he was done. Made the best of it!

This place is cheesy. It's like a backyard party full of embarrassing uncles where you have to pay for your food and drink. Personally, I've always been fond of my embarrassing uncles, so I get a kick out of this place. It's weird in the daytime, but after dark it's actually a pretty enjoyable place by the beach to get fed and hang out. Last month, probably against my better judgement, I ordered fried clams here, and they were surprisingly good! In fact, all the food at our table was pretty good. Definitely a little on the overpriced side, but it's a tourist bar at a beach, so it's kind of dumb to even act surprised about that. This is absolutely not a classy restaurant, and is maybe not quite a dive, but it is enough of a shitshow with good enough snacks that i like it more than a little.

I'm basing my review solely on the lobster roll. The place is kinda divey and the ambiance is beach bar bordering on biker bar. But. These mofos make a great lobster roll. At $20, it's not the cheapest but man you get a freakin' ton of lobster on a nice baguette roll. Sweet, tossed with a little mayo and nothing else, this baby probably inspired the B-52's hit. The onion rings it came with were on par with the lobster. I left stuffed and satisfied and for $20 that ain't bad.

The good: The steak tips with veggie and horseradish sauce are great The bad: The drinks are weak, the service is slow, and even when it's dinner time the place is way too loud. Looking for a place for you and 10 buddies to go drink your face off and get crazy, the BFB is for you. Want a good quiet meal with your girl/guy, skip it.

Run don't walk away form this joint. The food there tonight was nothing short if disgusting. I hope I don't become sick this evening. The explanation I got was that there was a new young cook. I'll never darken the door of this shit hole again.

Good cheese burger. Corn on the cob was lame. Service was good but it wasn't crowded either. Overall pretty good. It's better than average beach food. A great hang an night.

Have been here many times throughout the summers when I was younger, but haven't been since recently. We were down at Nantasket last month with a friend and stopped in. I got a sandwich wrap with sweet potato fries and my fried the pulled pork sandwich. The beau got the steamed mussels scampi style which he couldn't get enough of. The wrap was average and my friend loved the pork sandwich. Then we were there last Thursday because beau was craving the mussels (unfortunately I have to lay low due to the Lil baby growing in me, cause I love mussels). Unfortunately, they were all out! He was disappointed but ordered a Neptune dish with pasta instead and I had the baked stuffed shrimp with balsamic asparagus and house salad(which was very impressive and had white zin dressing). We were happy and full and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. Good service noted at this visit. Labor day and no plans led us down to Nantaket with another couple. We got seated in 15 and it was packed. YAY! Our waitress apparently was not on point and had a bit of an attitude so that sucked. Soda was flat : ( No drinkies for this preggo. I had a bruger with cheddar cheese , the regular stuff and avocado and had the house salad as a side instead of fries...my burger was a little more well done than I like though. Beau got his mussels x 2! He was happy : ) The other couple had fish n chips and the fried seafood platter. They said the fish was oily (?eewww gross...we recommended Andy's in Whitman : ) ) and the tarter sauce was blah. Needles to say the waitress did not get tipped well. We will return for mussels and apps which looked huge and delish.

My husband and I stopped by Barefoot Bob's on Friday evening to recharge after strolling Nantasket beach. We couldn't remember if we had heard good things or bad things about this spot, so we kept an open mind to decipher into which category it would fall. Unfortunately, we found that it was the latter. I'd like to give a higher rating on this place- there was plenty of outdoor seating, the waitress was super nice, although she didn't know much about the menu, and they were willing to remake our french fries when they were initially served stale-tasting- but every satisfaction seemed to have a disappointment to it as well. The stuffed quahogs were huge, but overloaded with bread. I've definitely had better. The draught beer menu is short (3 options, one of which was shandy- ew) and they were out of several of the better bottled beers. I also noted that there were only two items on the menu that included lobster- I was having a serious craving for it- and neither seemed to be fresh and still in the shell. How unfortunate for a beach-side restaurant. To BB's credit, the muscles with white wine & garlic sauce was delicious- probably the only thing that I can report without complaint. If we ever choose to return to this restaurant, it will probably be just for the muscles, though there are probably better places to fulfill this craving.

We are locals and haven't been to BFB in a couple years because it was not worth going back. Well, after a great late afternoon kayak excursion, being hungry and not wanting to get all fancied up for dinner we decided to take a chance and go. Gordon Ramsey had been in the spring, so we figured they must have made some improvements, right? Sadly, no. The one positive was the fish chowder we split was yummy. The fried seafood (we got oysters and scallops) was way too oily. The oil was just dripping off the seafood and I had to blot it with a paper towel. The scallops tasted good, but the oysters were not. The buffalo chicken dip was not at all spicy (buffalo chicken was just fried chicken fingers pieces) so we just poured on some redhot sauce. There were two completely useless hosts and it wasn't even busy. These two kept playing with their iphones- as a matter of fact, on a trip to the bathroom, a waitress nearly ran into me as she was texting while walking! Every single person working here was texting or playing with their phones- to the detriment of service. The place is a dive- I mean, it is on the beach and I don't expect much, but it smelled like trash on the way back to the bathroom (near the bar) and the bathroom was just scary. Our waitress was pleasant but had to be reminded 3 times to bring us water (and I hear a table nearby ask multiple times as well). She did make the useless male host help her bus our table at the end, good for her. So, I'm interested to see if Ramsey comes back. I am certain I will not.

I watched an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and saw BBs restaraunt get a much needed makeover! I felt like this particular episode was great bc I'm from Boston and thought this would be a great opportunity to taste Gordon's recipes (while supporting a local restaraunt)! The episode aired a while ago and I've been dying to go ever since. Well, today was the day!!! And what a huge disappointment!! Let's start with the appearance, shall we? Gordon came in, took that tacky tiki crap off the walls and made it look clean, and crisp. When we walked in there today, it was dark, the walls were multi colored (red, blue, white)? The tacky tiki look was back and well, I was seriously thinking we had gone to the wrong place! (I googled it while we were there just to make sure). We had been seated in the dining room (we were asked to pick a seat ourselves) and then we waited... And waited... And waited some more. Finally, when the waitress came over, we ordered our drinks and tried to order our meal... She politely informed us they were out of scallops. (ok, that's like burger king being out of burgers!!) Anyway, my husband needed "a second" to look at the menu again. Literally, we waited 20 minutes before she came back with our drinks and then finally took our order. (Sigh, im starving btw)... Ok, the food... It was good... The clam chowder (which, when I ordered this after placing my meal order, got me a death look from the waitress) was awesome!! The fried seafood was just ok... Not worth the drive to see a run down shack, hole in the wall with "meh" food and poor service though. I won't go again, and to be truthful I'm really annoyed. The place looked great after KN did its thing. BUT... The owners went back to their old ways and that is their perogative but IMO it sucked before KN and it sucks yet again. The bartender that was working at BB when the show aired hated the makeover & said "we are a seafood place, we feed people & get people drunk"... That's the feeling you get when you go in there now... A place to go to eat and drink... Which is fine, I like that, but really? I can do that at home. I give this place two stars and that's for the clam chowder! You can keep your tacky tiki!

Can't understand the reviews of others for this place. The food is mediocre at best. Maybe we ordered the wrong items. If seemed that seafood would be a good choice at a beach grill. The Seafood Sampler arrived looking like an undercooked bunch of unidentifiable objects. The shrimp, fish, and scallops all had the same grey tinge to them with some kind of uncooked breadcrumbs on top. The dish was missing eye appeal and also taste. There was no seasoning of any sort on anything and there was no salt or pepper on the table. Even the cole slaw was bland and it was served with strings of cabbage slopped over the side of the bowl. The tasteless mashed potatoes were not totally offensive and the fresh asparagus was cooked nicely. People might find the place "funky" but we found it to be "tired" complete with a dusty faux plant.

I will never go back to this place, unless it's for a drink at night. Honestly the only good thing was the drinks! The service is AWFUL. We went for lunch on a really warm day, so naturally the outside area was packed. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, waited another 30 minutes for a waitress to recognize that we were waiting to order! Had to flag someone down to ask where our waitress was. Apparently they weren't sure who should have been serving the table. Meanwhile parties who were seated after us were served food before we even got drinks! And the waitress gave us an attitude the entire time. The food was mediocre at best. My steak tips were well done, asked for medium rare. I didn't even dare to complain because it wouldn't be worth the wait. I am not a person that doesn't give a fair tip, but we cut it to 10% because the service was just so bad. Hire a better cook and better servers, it would be a great place to get lunch and enjoy the ocean view.

How could I be the first?! I was turned on to this place by a generous friend who couldn't keep it a secret anymore. this is exclusively an outdoor summertime restaurant with only a small covered bar area. what do i recommend? fried scallops. the plate is about $15 but you get get a pile of scallops about a foot high, and super crunchy greasy onion rings to boot! wash it down with an icy corona, and in one hour you have experienced the joy of new england summers.

While on vacation my wife & I thought we would check out BFB's and the "new" look. What a mistake, we soon found out that they were not happy with the Gordon Ramsey look and wasted no time in returning this place back to the beach dump it has been. Walking up to the back of the restaurant from the beach is a lesson in who doesn't give a shit on first impressions, cig butts & other trash are everywhere. We had to wait 10 minutes for them to open, give me a break, obviously the only rule they follow here. We sat at the bar finally ordered drinks and waited & waited & waited for the bartender who was obviously impressed with the story from another patron, wow are we taking time from your life or do you have a job ? The clam roll I ordered came pressed, as it was under the salad plate my wife ordered, hell why be surprised at this tasty bun of flat once frozen strips, the bartender wasn't, nor was she concerned with bringing the tarter sauce I asked for until we were finished eating, but in her defense she did bring the 2nd round of drinks quickly. The food was at best passable, as a wise old man once said, been there, done that, never again. It's a shame, with a little effort from the owner down to the waitstaff this could be one hellava go-to place on the beach but until light dawns over their marble heads it ain't gonna happen. Move along nothing to see here.

We sure do like Barefoot Bob's! Went there last Sunday for a late lunch and chowed down on some delicious clams casino. Delish! I had the Santa Fe chicken wrap and it was huge (also delish). The waitress let me add a salad instead of the fries and the salad was gorgeous, fresh and dreamy. Me and the hubs both ate meals and an app and go outta there for $32 bucks! We will definitely go back...we are looking to relocate in Hull, so this is a nice find!

I can't believe that so few folks have rated this place- it's the closest approximation to being on vacation in Key West around! As if the south shore weren't amazing, Bob's alone could keep me living in Hingham for the rest of my life. Very parrot-head and beachy with outdoor seating in the warmer months, this place is the destination for cold Coronas and appetizers. Friends can't live without the Quahogs, but I'm particularly partial to their BBQ Pork sandwich. It's absolutely massive and to-die-for. Regulars are eclectic and entertaining and run the gamut with a smattering of good-natured bikers and Hull locals mixed in with college kids hanging out on Nantasket. Watch the sunset, sip a mai tai (they make a darned good one) and order the nachos. If you don't already live in Hull, you'll be looking to relocate immediately.

we went here after seeing that gordon ramsey had been there last week. they must not have listened to a word he said, or they sucked really bad before. the highlight was the drinks. they were good size, a healthy pour and taste awesome. our waitress sam was nice and personable, but slow to say the least. it was dead and it took over an hour to have an app and mains with no dessert. even if the kitchen was running slow, after our mains were done we waited a solid 10 minutes before we saw her again to get the left overs boxed. the clam strips were great, but i had two that were gritty. the salmon was ok. pretty flavorless. it had a good crust, but we left on for about 1 minute too long. wasn't over done, but not perfect. the potatos were good and flavorful. the asparagus was a total disappointment. they were soaked in butter. no other flavor, on the plate under them was just a pool. if you're going to drown them in butter to cook instead of grilling them, pull them out with tongs and give them a shake before you plate them. the fish and chips was good but the batter was a little thick. now for the really bad parts. the mens room is NASTY, it smelled horrid and seemed to have no ventilation. if i knew what i was walking into, i would have gone to dunks to use theirs. also, when the wind changed direction, you could smell the trash that was behind the fence and see and hear the guys dumping it into the bins as we ate. to top it off, the high tops are crammed together and the ground is very uneven. no matter what high top you sit at, the chair will rock. if we go back, it would just be for apps and drinks at the bar

Funky place with surprisingly good food. Excellent burgers, grilled salmon sandwich, wraps and other sandwiches...with your choice from a list of sides, including a side salad, veggies and a baked potato if you want to avoid the fries (which are really good, I have to say). Outdoor dining space is terrific; inside is dismal. Can get raunchy, but on a breezy afternoon, it's a great place in a town that isn't exactly the best restaurant town around.

I'm actually shocked that the reviews of this place are so good. The good: The food is decent. Large portions, fresh and tasty...and relatively cheap. The bad: 1) We get to the hostess stand and kindly request something that is a little shady (it was a scorcher of a day and we had already spent hours on the beach so the last thing we needed was more time in the sun). The hostess replied "I don't even know what shade means right now" Ummmmmm, what? She then proceeded to seat us in the sunniest section at a table with no umbrella. Perfect. 2) We were convinced that everytime the waitress walked by she was required to go on a 20 minute break because she would disappear. I hope you don't need a refill or a napkin or the check...no where to be found. 3) Smoking - Coming from a former smoker, I get it. It's great to be able to smoke outside. But when your ashes are blowing from your cigarrette onto us and our table, it's just gross. Be courteous and move away from the other diners. The restaurant should limit the smoking section to the bar, not the tables where people are eating.

Not bad but not amazing...kind of meh. We came here for some lunch and beers after getting kites nearby at Sea Side Kites. We both had fried clams which were really good as were the french fries and onion rings. It's definitely a local joint which is both good and bad. They had the Sox on which was definitely good and as most bars have now- they sport 2 ginormous tvs. There was no room at the bar- it was all taken up by Keno zombies. One lady near us was telling her personal obnoxious story to pretty much the entire bar- it was amusing to hear but I'm not sure everyone would feel that way. The bartender was also pretty loud and mildly entertaining. A couple that came in after us has ordered and devoured two cosmos in record time- hehe. The service is extremely slow so if you're in a hurry beware for sure! There are dozens of clam shacks/bars around the New England coast- this one isn't the best. If you like Jimmy Buffet/Parrothead stuff- maybe this is your dream place in Mass.
