I'm a native of the South Shore, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to fish shacks. (Yay Clam Box in Quincy and Wood's in Plymouth!) The only places I ever found that I liked in the Pioneer Valley were the ever lamented Jack August's in Noho and a fish shack in Easthampton that folded shortly after I discovered it. You wouldn't expect to find a good fish shack in Franklin County, but this is it. The ambience is what you'd expect (thankfully, none), but the selection is good, the prices are good and the fish is good. They also have a daily all-you-can-eat, which changes throughout the week, and all you can eat scrod for $7.50 - that being Tuesdays -- is a positive delight. The service is also good and helpful, and what more can you ask? Unfortunately, it's closed Mondays, but that's the only fly in the ointment.

When you walk in you're greeted by a huge display case of healthy fresh salads and seafood dishes. But don't be fooled! Pete's is best known for fried fish - fried clam strips - fried calamari - french fries - onion rings - the works. It's wonderful, crispy, and just greasy enough. Everything you want from a fish fry. Sure, you can get healthy stuff too but this is THE place to go for fried fish, tarter sauce, a monstrous portion of fries, and a cold beer (or two) to wash it down. Crowd is friendly and local. Friday's they are packed. Owners are super nice people.

We were at Pete's last night and the scallops were great as always and the scrod was just ok. There were two complaints 1. The condiments were awful. The kachup was not good. I'm not sure if it was bad or just some off brand, and the Tarter sauce was mostly mayo. That is not what we usually get there. 2. There was a group of younger people with 4 children that let them run, jump, roll on the floor, and scream and no one stopped them. When I asked them to quite down I was met vulgarity. There were about ten other people there that were also upset with the noise and said That they would not be going back. We also will not be going back!

If you are looking for fresh seafood in the Pioneer Valley, then you can't miss out on Pete's Seafood. This shop hidden on School Street in Greenfield reminds me of eating fresh seafood on the Cape during the summer. The last time that we went we bought a large seafood combo platter with a side of calamari and were not disappointed. It is phenomenal to think that you can get this quality of seafood so far from the coast! Pete's is a "no brainer" if you are craving seafood in the Greenfield area!

If you can pull it out of the ocean, batter it, and fry it, Pete's makes it and makes it well. This place is hands down the best seafood place in the Valley. It is an institution in Greenfield and has been ever since I can remember. If you're in the area, don't skip it.

The best local fried fish around. The fish is always fresh and the prices are just right. You can always find it packed on a Friday night but the staff keeps the line moving quickly. They take phone orders for you to call ahead for pick up. There is seating outside during the warmer months and plenty of parking. I've always had great food there and look forward to going.

Yes! Deep fried oysters in a very light, thin, crispy coating. Cooked perfectly. Will return regularly!

This is my favorite seafood restaurant in the Valley. The food is made fresh to order, a far cry from the frozen garbage others pass off as fresh. The prices are amazingly competitive for the exceptional quality they provide. The only complaint is the wait in line, but that is more of a testament to their greatness than a critique.

Visited area and this was the 3rd place I had haddock and this place knows how to cook it and it was fresh. Good portions, good price and very laid-back.

Fresh delicious lightly battered fried seafood. I will be coming back to try some of the other items off the menu.

Great on Friday nights especially when Pete's behind the bar! And they always know what I want when I walk in the door for lunch!

Such small town charm. I got the fried clams because that's what I do when I'm in New England. We had a decent sized group. You pay upfront then wait a bit and your food is ready then you sit down. Everyone was happy with what they got. They have a water jug in the dining area if you ordered water. They have lemons to add to it too. It's a cute place

Very disappointed in this place, over priced and on my list of Top Ten places to go for top quality seafood this place just doesn't cut it. :(
