In our never ending quest for a decent pizza here in Rockport/Gloucester, we decided to give Sebastian's a try. The sauce is sweet, disturbingly so, and not very interesting, no oregano or basil or garlic flavors. The bottom of the crust was soggy, so that the first bites of each slice are just a mish-mash, with no structural integrity. We had a coupon for $2 off a large one-topping pie. We ordered an extra large two-topping pie (and a salad), and they wouldn't even honor the coupon. So they are incentivizing us to spend less money. Our quest remains unfulfilled.

Top 3 Pizza places on the North Shore!!! Great, pleasant employees! Delivery is usually prompt and always accurate. It does get busy at times especially on Football Sundays and nice weather weekends, but well worth the wait. Their sweet sauce pizza is excellent and they have many toppings other pizza places do not. Riceballs are fantastic, they will make you great mini ones for parties and functions!

It is hard to find good pizza on Cape Ann and thought this pizza was fairly decent until I saw the person handling money at the cash register return to the kitchen without washing their hands or putting on gloves, and started kneading dough. I felt sick as studies have found cocaine and fecal matter on money, plus it can carry more germs than a household toilet ( content.time.com/time/sp… ). I know the pizzas are cooked, but I still do not feel comfortable eating here and I definitely would not eat a salad. I suggest skipping this place until they start practicing good hygiene.

Love their pizza (especially w/that sweet sauce paired w/breaded eggplant!), calzones, subs, & their arancini (rice balls). --Very small & casual place that's great for delivery, take-out, or a quick stop-in for a bite. Watch their math, though, as I was overcharged a couple times for multiple arancini. udine4less.com/sebastians

One of my favorites. After living in Gloucester for the past 10 years, I can say with confidence that Sebastian's is my go-to pizza joint. If you're squeamish about the sweet sauce, ask them to go lite on it (personally, I like the change). The mozzarella cheese is flavorful instead of plasticine, like a lot of pizza joints. My favorite is a meatball and ricotta cheese pizza (or calzone).

Excellent sweet sauce pizza. The sauce has spurned a secret sauce for myself that I hope to impress on friends some time. Wow. Can't get the sauce out of my head. Other items were fine as well (I nibbled on friend's items).

i am giving this place 4 stars even though i don't eat here. the pizza sauce here is sweet, and i don't like sweet sauce. however, everyone in my entire life that has ever been to sebastian's loves the hell out of this place, hence my 4-star rating. i can't justify giving 5 to a place i don't frequent. i lived down the street from seb's for awhile and i'd walk by there every night after getting off the train. i'd be starving and this place would smell way too good. what a tease, sebby. what a tease. if you like sweet sauce, you're going to LOVE this place.

I really like their pizza but for me where they stand out is there other items. The arancini are just like my moms and I wish I had one right now. They make these little sandwich size calzones that are way better than getting a sandwich somewhere else and I wish I had one right now. But get there early because they tend to run out.

I wish, I wish, I wish I could give this place the full 5 stars. A little backstory: I've been going to this restaurant off and on for the last 30 years. Growing up, a friend had a summer house in Rockport and he and his father discovered this place. When we first started going there, the owner was a former fisherman who had a prosthetic leg. He was loud at times, but damn the pizza was good. We would stop at a pay phone on Rte 128 on the way and place the order so it would be piping hot when we got there. I would order the pepperoni pizza, the combination of the sweet sauce, the almost overcooked pepperoni and the crisp dough made this the pizza I would rate all other pizza against. It has been a few years but tonight I decided that I would make the trek. And I have to say, it wasn't what I remember. The sauce, still sweet. Great amount of pepperoni on the pizza and the cheese was super. But the dough was too, well, doughy. I recall a slightly crispy dough ring on the edge. Still chewy but more of a crunchy outer coating. It is possible this night something changed. It is raining outside and the humidity does change how flour reacts. Who knows. All I know is, I have an ideal attached to my senses and it wasn't met tonight. I will still go back and try again though.

THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! We walked in and made it very clear that someone in our party had a severe food allergy, when her salad came out and she said they put croutons on it (which she cannot eat) the girl who took the order said "I don't even care." That order was canceled due to her rudeness but we waited for the four pizzas we order for our hungry children. They were later cancelled and we walked out because the women working we're HORRIFICALLY RUDE, to the point of glaring at us and even cursing in both Italian and English. As a Californian visiting Massachusetts, I'm a bit disgusted to be honest. The only reason I gave one star is because it's required, otherwise there would be none. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!

It's the second time in a row that I ordered a pizza for pickup only to bring home a pizza that was several hours old. The first time I didn't complain, and this time I wasn't going to either, but mid way through this review I decided to give them a call. I voiced my complaints about the pizza and was offered a $5 discount on my next pizza purchase, I told them that I wouldn't be coming back to use a $5 coupon. The lady on the phone angrily offered to remake the pizza, I'm not really sure I want to eat a pizza made by people who are angry at me. Anyway I'm done with Sebastian's, which is sad because their fresh pizza is really good.

How can you eat at a place for 46 years and not know all of the owners, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters? Sebastians was started by a fisherman who lost his leg working the docks on Gloucester harbor. The world of pizza has never been the same. The sauce is sweet because they use 7-11 fresh ground kitchen ready tomatos: It doesn't need spices to be good. The cheese is morning glory cheddar. The current owners shred the cheese, the original owners used to grind it giving it a unique texture when cooked. It's not often that new owners maintain the same standards of excellence that the originals establish;however, Mima and her crew are one of the rare exceptions. Thier pizza has travelled as far souht as southern Florida and as far west as Arizona. This pizza,s excellence stems from high quality, fresh ingredients properly prepared. Whenever I get close to the northshore I stop in for pie.

My wife and buddy just haphazardly stumbled upon Sebastians the other day after skipping over Mexican for some unknown reason. It was fantastic! Their Arancini (Italian rice balls) where the best I have ever had. What I had was made fresh made that day and not salty. You don't feel like you biting into some overly spiced product like would find in Faneuil hall or a mall. The Sfinciuni (Sicily pizza) was great authentic taste, something that I have not tasted since being in Palermo Sicily. It light with a fresh dough and killer even with coffee. The place is small with just a handful of tables and real mom and pop-ish. Uber-Uber care free vibe... Looks like one of tables completely resided to just pizza boxes. Nothing special about the outside and as result can easily be over looked. I have not been there in years and Kind of forgot about them...(What a mistake) Enjoy

the sauce is WAY too sweet they say that the sauce is 'unique' but it's just loaded with sugar and nothing else. the crust is thick and not crisp. there are better places in town.

Great pizza! They have a very sweet tasting sauce, but i think it compliments the pizza very well. If you are a cheese fan then you will love this place they cover the entire pizza with cheese making sure you have a full flavor in every bite. The pizza dough is very thick, which means the crust is too, but they cook it so its crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle! If you love toppings this place is great, they cover the entire pizza with toppings of your choice, meaning every slice you get a great amount of toppings with every bite. For the amount of pizza you get the price is pretty good, for 20 dollars for a large pizza which is plenty for a family of 3 or 4. Cons~ Sometimes its over or undercooked, due to the thickness of the crust. Not always fully cut, which leads to the cheese being ripped off of the pizza when trying cut it again. The Cheese is very hot, and if you take it to go make sure the pizza is leveled or the cheese will become your desert!

The sweet sauce is a fact. I like it. I recommend the breaded eggplant on any of the pizzas. Yum.
