Great food and great view. I came here in the early afternoon with my colleagues for an event hosted by the chair of our department. I can't speak for the prices but the food that we got was great. The fried goat cheese salad was a great. The toppings and dressing were a great balance. The tuna panini was crunchy and delicious. The turkey and vegetable sandwich were standard and a good staple if you don't want to be too adventurous. The staff were really nice to us and treated us great. Overall I was happy with the experience here but just to be clear, I was not paying either so keep that in consideration :)

A lot of these reviews tend to be hit or miss so I'm going to assume we came on a good night or they made some changes recently. Regardless of anyone's opinion one thing is for sure the views are amazing so if you're in the area at least stop by for some drinks on the deck. The majority of what we ordered was excellent. My sister and I got two drinks to start and an order of fries pickles. Both were great. Once the other half of our party got there we ordered the calamari and the mussels. My only complaint here is that some of the muscles were gritty, but the taste was great. For entrees three of us ordered the lobster salad roll, and one ordered the seared scallops. Besides the side of pickles and red cabbage that comes with the lobster rolls everyone finished their whole meals. For dessert we got two orders of butterscotch pudding which was also great. Not too sweet, but after a rich meal that ended up being perfect. Two complaints, the prices were a tad high and the wait staff definitely has that "don't bother me" attitude. We got there around 4 PM on a Sunday and wanted to sit in the dining room upstairs. At first they didn't want to seat us because the other two people in our party weren't there yet. I had to insist because... 1. It wasn't busy 2. We were eating and drinking before they showed up so we're still paying customers 3. As soon as the other two showed up we ordered a full meal and several rounds of drinks After pleading my case they sat us, but I don't think this was too much to ask in the first place. Will go back!

Come here on a random Saturday afternoon, plunk yourself down on the first floor patio, and enjoy a nice adult beverage while enjoying the beautiful city views on the water. Bonus points for the ample fans with built-in misters to help mitigate the heat. Beer selection here isn't bad, and the 2 cocktails I tried were surprisingly pretty tasty and fresh (Painkiller and Strawberry Smash). Raw bar's not terrible either. The crowd started to get a little bro-dude on our way out, so if that's not your thing make sure to come early.

We loved the crab cakes, but the clam chowder wasn't the greatest. The entrees are fairly expensive. The view from the Pier is absolutely stunning, you can see the entire skyline and the sunset from inside.

Mediocre, overpriced food. The lobster tasted stale. The calamari made me sick an hour later. The spread was decent but came with a pile of flat bread and a thimble of hummus and eggplant. The worst part was the "mojitos". It came without mint or lime or sugar. Yea - it was basically soda with a dash of rum. And tasted like butts. Also disappointing was the clientele--we are by no means fancy people, but unfortunately this establishment caters to a lot of loud groups of screaming girls. I can only describe the crowd by saying that one observes a lot of "tramp stamp" tattoos on the way to one's seat. If this is your thing, cool, but just be forewarned.

Pier 6 is great! It has really good views of the city, is right on the water, and has very good food. I went with the Maine Omelette and it was excellent. I highly recommend it. Wife had the fish (mahi mahi) tacos and they were really good too. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

It was such an amazing weather in Boston and to make it a great day we decided to try this place which had a beautiful patio deck that overlooked the city of Boston... We ordered only appetizers and decided to share.. We had clam chowder flights which was all so tasty! The bbq wings was delicious and had a nice crisp to it. The crab cakes blew me away and they had a tasty selection of beers as well as an open bar for those trying to get a little frisky. The waitress was amazing as well. Sat us immediately and tended to us often. You won't feel ignored here for sure! I wish I stayed longer to try their main meals, but I'll be back.

The place is extremely disorganized. The menu is very small and weird. Don't go on a holiday and expect a brunch menu! Needless to say our waitress was very slow so we came sat down after a 20 min wait and no one ever came to take our order so were leaving.

I haven't tried the food there. However, let me just say that the view is amazing when the sun goes down, and it's worth a drink or two in good company. Location, location, location

Impressive outreach from a managing partner after an unfortunate issue with our anniversary reservation. Integrity is always the bottom line in human relations. We will return.

We went for a Sunday brunch. The view is pretty cool. But, other than that, nothing particularly impressive. The food is okay.

I had my first experience at Pier 6 this evening and it was lovely! Not only does this restaurant have a spectacular atmosphere but the food was superb. We started with calamari, crab cakes, raw oysters (3of each), fried oysters, and lots of yummy alcoholic beverages. Everything was very well prepared and was delicious. I especially enjoyed the calamari...and I'm pretty picky. For my entree I had the steak...cooked to perfection. Family members also really enjoyed the burger and the lobstah roll. It was also extremely refreshing to be welcomed by such a friendly and charismatic staff. One of the owners, Sal, was at our table side at least three times during our meal...which he so generously allowed us to have in their beautiful private room. Our server (I'm having a brain fart on her name, but she had short brown hair and had on some fabulous jewelry) was super sweet and took excellent care of our 7 person party. Overall, they were pretty much a rockstar staff! I am so thrilled that my cousin, Meghan, introduced me to Pier 6. She is a server there and I will definitely be back for a visit! So...definitely go...drink a lot...but not too much that you can't enjoy the spectacular food that Chef Silva prepares especially for you...and ask for Meg!

They changed the name of the place but it's about the same. Gorgeous view of Boston and mediocre food. Although the 2 drinks we ordered were very refreshing.

Pier 6 Boston Waterfront is a great place to grab a bite to eat while enjoying a view of Boston's water font! I came here for brunch on a Saturday and the place wasn't too busy. The day we went was a bit breezy, so we opted to sitting on the upper deck by the sliding glass doors that we were able to adjust. As far as food, I ordered the lobster roll. I've had my share of lobster rolls in Boston, but I'd have to say that their's was just "okay". I'm used to having huge chunks of lobster meat, but their were chopped thoroughly as if it were diced. With my meal came a side of fries, which were pretty good, a little too crispy for my liking, but not bad. Along with our meals, my friend and I decided to share a bottle of champagne & purees to mix in. Rather than traditional mimosas, I thought it was neat that they offered strawberry and peach purees to mix in the champagne. The service was great and our server was super friendly and attentive to our table! Although we got there a little early during brunch hours, the restaurant started to get busy. If you're looking for a place to sit outside and grab a bite, I highly recommend this place!

In summary: Good service, good food, great views of the city! I would go back, but wouldn't go out of my way if I wasn't already nearby. I had the huevos rancheros and thought it was really good. Our server was nice and attentive. My friends and I shared the Bucket of Bubbles, which was a bottle of champagne, orange juice, and 3 juice purées and was reasonably priced. Overall nice place.

I stopped for a quick bite and a glass of wine, so I thought I'd just sit at the bar downstairs. This was a mistake -- the bartender wasn't real friendly and it was a bit cramped. On the way out I went to the ladies' room upstairs and wished I'd dined up there instead. Great bar area, great views. The food was good and they oysters were lovely. Nice wine list. Would go back!

Great summer spot, recommend reserving the private room for a big group. Rose, water view and lobster rolls, what more could you ask for!

Went for Mothers Day Brunch and it was absolutely gorgeous. Though it did get very hot on the rooftop, sun is strong up there ESP BC it was 82° and even utensils get hot SCENERY The scenery is beautiful, you're looking out over the water, you can see the skyline, TD Garden, the bridge, prime locations in Boston. There was also a ship named the Warren Jr anchored next to the restaurant, which was perfect for pictures.I can just imagine what it would be like with a nice summer sunset. BUILDING/CLEANLINESS The building is very clean, didn't look grungy or cheap, no dirty seats, no messy floors, no rusty outdoor seating, no dirty utensils, nothing floating in our drinks, no hair in our food, just clean. the indoor seating (though we sat outside on the rooftop) was gorgeous and the design of the building was built almost upwards, very different and I loved it. The rooftop area was soso cute. Tad confusing to find because it was set back on like a dock. But whatever. FOOD The food was absolutely delicious. As I said we went for brunch and they're menu is a good size for breakfast and lunch on one menu. Everyone loved their meal and trust me we are very high food critics, we know good food, homemade everything at home. I got the Fried Goat Cheese Salad and loved it. It wasn't typical romain or iceberg lettuce so that's a plus and the goat cheese being fried came in a small fried ball on top similar to a risotto ball but obviously cold soft and fluffy goat cheese not rice and cheese. The French toast was unbelievable, not too eggy tasting which was a plus for me. For a meal I ordered the crab cakes (2 to a plate but medium sized) which I am very picky with but these were fantastic. They were almost like shredded crab to perfection with a tad onion pieces big enough to pick out without ruining it which I did but still perfect. On top were I think shredded potato slices. Also make your own Mimosas and Bellinis champagne with side of orange juice and 1 strawberry purée and another peach purée. SERVICE Service I don't know if it was just our waitress but it was kinda slow at first. She didn't come back for a good 15 min after giving us water didn't tell us the special and didn't ask us if we wanted anything different to drink other than a bottle of champagne ordered and water. Others around us seemed like they were getting their food quite fast however do I'm convinced it was just our waitress. The food did come out pretty quick in my opinion not super quick but medium. PARKING Good amount of space for parking LOCATION Very good, close to North End so we popped in there after. Secluded and very nice living areas on both sides of the restaurant.

We went there for brunch and were seated on the patio. It had a great view of the Boston financial district. The food and the service were great. My friend had the Huevos Rancheros which looked great and I had the Maine Omelette which was absolutely delicious. The combination of the service, food and view made this a five star experience for me.

This was my first time at Pier 6 and I will definitely be returning. The food and service was excellent! The atmosphere and view is phenominal!! Parking availability was perfect! I would highly recommend to friends and family.

I liked this place, rode our bikes over from Cambridge for brunch. There is a nice outdoor seating area on the top floor with views of the harbor and city. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was friendly. The food is probably more like 3 stars. From looking around at what different tables ordered I feel like it could be pretty hit or miss. I would consider coming back for brunch or drinks and a snack some time.

This is a review of the bar/patio but I love this place on a hot summer evening. Grab a cold drink, maybe the hummus platter for an app and enjoy the cool summer breeze and the view. You can see almost every part of Boston was the patio! I saw some reviews mentioning terrible service but the waitress we had was quick with all our orders and got everything correct without writing it down! The bar area gets a little packed and intense for me, but if you grab a seat, there's a server that will come to you and take your order.

Went to Pier 6 last night because the weather was nice and pretty much everyone else in Boston had the same idea. We got a couple seats at the bar surprisingly quickly. The cold Lobster roll has been improved since last summer and I was a fan of the old one. Great food, service and atmosphere is among the best in the Summer.

Wonderful experience. My wife and I arrived for lunch without a reservation. The host was able to seat us at the captain's table, a table for two on it's own small deck. She had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the pier 6 pub burger. Both were excellent. Both dishes were served with a red cabbage and golden french fries. Our server was friendly and helpful. The breathtaking views of Boston added to the experience.

Great location and the food was ok. After spending $$$ of drinks and appetizers, be prepared to spend $25 on parking- If you live within walking distance, great. If not, be prepared.

Great spot with a view of the harbor and Boston skyline. Relaxed atmosphere, great food and excellent friendly service. Lobster roll was delicious. Tuna melt too. Antipasto appetizer platter was just the right amount for sharing.

Girlfriend and I met friends here for our last night visiting Boston, and we went out with a memorable experience at Pier 6. The view in the dining room of the Boston skyline at night was impeccable and terrific to have while eating. Decent beer and cocktail selection as well...three of us stuck to beer but my buddy's fiance got the Blackberry Smash that looked very good. Our waiter had an incredible personality, goofy yet professional. We asked him if they could 50/50 our wings (we were torn between two flavors) and he put in a good word, and our request was granted! We also got the calamari which was very good, but the Tabasco aioli was one of the best things I've ever tasted! Food is a bit pricey though, for entrees, the burger (which I had, and was outstanding) is $14, the next lowest entree is $23. So just be prepared to open your wallet at the end of the day, but for the view of Boston at night and the ambiance, it's worth it! The place is small so if going on a Friday/Saturday, call ahead. It's worth it for the view at night. Have I mentioned the view at night? It's outstanding.

The decor and view is so pretty and romantic! I love that it has the nautical theme! This restaurant is located right on the water and has an incredible view. I came here during lunch and could only imagine this place at night. They have a nice stocked menu but I didnt think the food was particularly tasty. I ordered the lamb ribs, my friends got a chicken sandwich and a burger with some crab cakes. Everything was alright. I'm a huge fan of lamb but i wasn't crazy over my dish. Presentation was cute but i thought it was rather greasy. The idea of sweet potatos with yogurt and an almond type topping was definitely unique but I didn't think they tied well together. My waiter was nice and this place will sell me as long as that view is there. definitely a cute date night idea. (=

Stopped in last night after picking up my buddy at the airport. Just something quick and a cold beer type of pit stop.... I really like this place. Casual and Clean. Our waiter Paul knows the menu and timed everything perfectly from the apps to the meal even when he stopped by to fill our water - SPOT ON! My only concern, as stated in a prior review.... there is nothing between a 14.00 Burger and a 23.00 scallop plate.( which looked awesome). You are leaving money on the table with this one. Will definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Jordan C.

The restaurant is a little overpriced for what it is and the menu could be bigger and more varied. The beer selection is meh- mostly sam adams and harpoon varieties, and they don't let you bring food down to the patio (in my experience). The best thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere and the location.

It was a dark and rainy night. The kind of night you think could lead to an eerie tail of a disastrous evening of dining out. We had heard so many mixed reviews about this place and debated weathering the storm to get here or not. But let me tell you - this was no gloomy story. It's a melt in your mouth, happy taste bud kinda tale! After making a mad dash to the door in the rain we were greeted with a warm smile from a nice young lady and seated at our table of choice for the evening. I was immediately very comfortable in this rustic contemporary designed restaurant that may have the best view of Boston I've seen thus far. A quick glance at the menu already had my mouth watering at the thought of delicious oysters. So I decided that would be my theme for the evening. We were then greeted by the extremely lovely and knowledgeable Laska. Laska means Love by the way in Czech and that I was!! I mean this lady was the finest waitress I've had in some time. Polite, professional, knew almost everything about the menu and what was in each dish and if she didn't know - she didn't pretend and went and found the answer to even the most obscure questions. She checked on us right at the perfect moments and made sure we were pleased with everything that was placed in front of us. The Dirty Texan -Tito's vodka, what can I say - this Texas lady loves it! Just the right amount of salty spiciness to make this a sipping pleasure. The Bloody Mary was requested spicy as well and didn't disappoint! The Loose Cannon was a fresh squeezed mulled jalapeno margarita recipe that I need to bring back to Texas! It gives you a nice pucker with a hint of fire on your tongue. The food was also a delight to consume. We started with a raw oyster sampler. They were cleaned very well and nicely presented. The only wish I had was that they had fresh horseradish with them, next time I will ask for that. We moved on from there to share the shaved fennel salad and beet salads. The kitchen even split them for us to keep their presentation in tack which I felt was very nice touch. The beet salad was my preferred choice. They played with flavor combinations and found a real winner here. The bite of dill with the saltiness of feta was a great contrast to the roasted sweet beets. The fennel was also fresh, light and pleasing. For our main coursed we had the scallops and fried oysters. The scallops had a perfect sear and were soft and delectable. The oysters were lightly fried and paired so well with the crisp celery leaves and beautiful house made tartar sauce. We were so delighted with our meals that we just had to try dessert, even though we really didn't need it. But can I just say - holy happy taste buds - we were so glad we did. That rhubarb shortcake was absolutely divine! I really couldn't have asked for a better evening. It may have been one of the best dinner experiences I've had in a while. I don't know if this is the norm for this place, but if so - I'm not sure who these people are that gave them a bad review. I will certainly not hesitate to come back here when I'm in town. Thank you Peir 6 chefs and staff, with Laska getting high honor, for a brilliant rainy evening! **If suggestion were requested - I'd get rid of a few of the very large TV's that seem to consume the bar/dining area and to serve up some fresh horseradish with those amazing oysters**

Party of 8. We were seated in private room with Windows on 3 sides. Best harbor views of anyplace in Boston. Food & Drinks were good. Swordfish, Lobster Rolls, Calimari, all done well. Hats off to Nicole, our server, very charming, took good care of everyone. A Very Enjoyable Night.

I took my brother and his niece here for lunch. The staff was great. Food was excellent. The ever changing view of the harbor worth the trip. Raw Oysters, fried clams, chowder flights, special Italian sandwich all perfect. We will return for late afternoon cocktails. Give them a try.

I was pumped when I moved to Charlestown and had a place like this within walking distance - and then I went in for a dinner. From the outside, this place looks awesome but that is really where things end. The food is average and salty and the prices are $2-$4 to high. I do like the decor at the outside patio but that is not enough to keep me going back. Hopefully they pull it together because if they were better priced and better food, they would be packed 7 nights a week.

One star for the setting, zero stars for the bartender who is too busy texting to take my order and has forgotten my water 3 times...

Had the oysters, lobster chowder, fish tacos & toffee pudding. Highly recommend the pudding! It was the best I've ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious, however I would have liked the chowder to be a little thicker. Overall, great service, great food & great views!

Maybe I might be a little bias because I have been going here for a long time now it right down the street and I know everyone there but this is my fav place to have a few beers, to be honest maybe more than a few. LOL I do not eat any seafood at all but I love their Burgers I have to say I would give it 5 stars. All my friends say the sea food is phenomenal so I will have to say it's true because they are fussier than I am. Oh I can't forget that this is right on the water with great views of Boston and the Harbor it's right down the street from the USS Constitution so if your in town as a tourist this would be a great place to stop in for lunch!

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating because my boyfriend and I absolutely loved it! I made a reservation for Tuesday night to be safe, and although we probably didn't need it, I was glad I did. The atmosphere is classy and comfortable (dress code varies, but I'd say go with "nice casual"), and nobody is lying about the breathtaking views -- even at night. The staff we interacted with were great. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out a perfect glass of wine. We started with the crab cake as our appetizer, and it was easy to cut in half to share. The sauce is to die for! The portion size was perfect: we got our money's worth, but weren't too full for our entrées. Speaking of entrées, I chose the mac and cheese with lobster and it was absolutely delicious. The peas really added a lot! My boyfriend had the warm lobster roll, which was also great. I really loved how the small sides that came with the plates (namely the cole slaw with the lobster roll, and the veggies on top of the crab cake) were really delicious -- and not just an afterthought or garnish. For dessert, we chose the strawberry rhubarb streusel tart, which way exceeded my expectations. The whipped cream was just the right amount of sweet, and the tart was the perfect size for two to share (okay I definitely ate more than my boyfriend, but isn't that how it's supposed to be?). I found the price to be very reasonable for a great Boston experience. For an appetizer, 2 entrees, a glass of wine, and a dessert, we paid ~$80. I would recommend making a reservation regardless of the night, and checking out the menu ahead of time if you have a picky eater (I thought all the options sounded great, but the menu is pretty short!). I can't wait to go back next time!

This place is definitely worth going to. The food is fantastic and well prepared. The dining room is clean, cozy, and very urban. Our waitress was very notable about the menu and had great suggestions without trying to up sell us too much. I have had brunch their several times and the staff is always very attentive. I am impressed that the prices aren't higher then they are. The view of Boston is beautiful. Sometimes restaurants charge you for the view, not the food. This is not the case. Check this place out if you want a classy satisfying meal, appetizer, or even just drinks with their excellent bartender.

Since my last review, it has gotten MORE expensive and I (and a few classmates) have gotten sick from the food here. Mysteriously, a friend and I got food poisoning from soup - soup! It was a vegetarian bisque... I don't even know how we got sick from that... The servers are nice, the hostesses are awkward and unfriendly, and the bartenders can be weird. Not necessarily rude, but definitely not nice. A few of us went for drinks one day and a friend asked for a bit of tomato juice or bloody mary mix in his beer (it's common to do that in the Southwestern states where we're from.) After WAY too much confusion (my friend had even tried to nix the request - it wasn't worth the hassle - but the bartender had already gotten the manager. Total overkill) he finally got his splash of bloody mary mix. When we got the bill, they had charged him for a full bloody mary! $10 for a splash of juice. We tried fighting it, but it just became too much of a mess and we had somewhere to be, so we split the cost among us so it wasn't too painful for our friend and booked it out of there. I get it that it wasn't a request commonly heard here, but that was totally inappropriate and it was handled horribly. Also, all the locks in the women's restroom are broken. You'd think since they're charging a dollar extra for all their beers these days, they could take some of that profit and fix the locks. Just a thought. I will add, even though no one's really a fan, we do still go here because it's close and the view is incredible, but no more special requests and NO ONE eats.

Nice location with a view of Boston Harbor. The brunch is legit, yo. I had the banana rum french toast and the scrambled eggs with bacon (oink); I enjoyed every bite. Even the coffee was pretty good. The bartender was super friendly. I would go back.

Looks good but beware of the dog friendly listing. They are not dog friendly as described. Don't waste you're time walking there if you think you want to have a drink with you're dog. Only allowing service animals is not dog friendly.

We went her for the first time since it changed from Tavern on the Water, which we loved for that casual boating, Boston view hangout. The best thing about this place is the views. I think it's expensive for the quality of food and drink. I paid $13 or $14 for a mai tai. It came in a small glass that I could have drank in three sips. The burger was very good, just a bit salty. The fried calamari was coated in a thick batter and didn't have much flavor (tasted like flour). I hope the menu and drinks improve because I really love this location.

I came for lunch, and it is a great space to hang out and grab drinks. The waiter was very attentive, but I wouldn't come back here for the food. I got the chicken sandwich and the chicken came out incredibly dry. I was not impressed. However, maybe the other food is better. It's certainly a great place for a date since they have a romantic view right on the water.

Nice view, mediocre food, not great drinks(had to have bartender redo a martini... How can u mess up a martini?) Id be nicer but there is NO ELEVATOR so forget it handicapped and old people... I wanted to bring my 96 year old Bostonian grandfather but can't because how is he supposed to get up the stairs. I have no patience for NEW restaurants that don't make the investment to accommodate all people. No excuse- this is a new place and could have made the effort. Shame on pier 6.

We came here about a year ago for brunch and the food was fantastic. The banana rum french toast was delicious as was the bloody mary I had. We returned today, and I don't know what has happened but the food was awful. Again got the french toast. It had good flavor but was so soggy and mushy. The scrambled eggs were cold. The blueberry pancakes were not only tasteless but they were raw inside! Yes raw. We informed our waitress and thankfully the manager took them off our bill. Not the brunch we were hoping for at all, very disappointed. Pier 6 needs to decide what kind of place they want to be- it's trying to be high end with the prices and menu but the execution and consistency are just not there.

I came here for my birthday last week, and I couldn't have asked for a better all-around place to celebrate with my family and friends. As soon as we got there, the ambiance at the outdoor patio bar (amazing city views, music was just right, bartenders were fun) where we enjoyed some pre-dinner cocktails gave us the vibe we were on vacation (I live right down the street)... which I LOVED! Our party of 10 (we made reservations about a week in advance) then sat for dinner at a table right by an open window, still enjoying the city views and waterfront breeze. Apps were my favorite - we ordered wings, shrimp ceviche, lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail and crab cakes for the table. Generous portions! Entrees were also delicious - nobody in the group had anything but good things to say, which is surprising with a party of 10. We ended up going back down to the bar afterward, where we stayed all night. It was a great time. I think I found my new summer spot!

Wonderful rejuvenation looking the best it has since it was The Quarterdeck (1981-1985). The best restaurant view with a great atmosphere even on this cloudy and damp Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Great staff and owner! There's free parking on the pier.

This place has hands down, the best view in Boston, at least of anywhere I've been. The city is right across the water and there are SO many seats/tables available with a magnificent view. The food is decent, with a limited menu, but we got their special appetizer, a charcuterie board, and it was absolutely amazing! Drinks are reasonably priced for the city, and the food a little higher, but I'll be honest, I really only come for the view. It's even better in the summertime with the outdoor beer garden. We'll be back!

Holy cow. Sitting at piere 6. Wanted a burger. So it was raw. Sent it back. Gave me a new burger. On the house. Oh. But raw again. I want this place to succeed but how? Fire the chef? If you can't do this menu. Hang it up.

I was indecisive between a 2 or a 3 on this one but had to lean towards the 2. The positives? Location, view, waitress was pleasant, decor looks great. Negatives? Everything else. What better way to enjoy on a rare 90 degree Sept day than a glass of Sangria on the water? More like red with OJ and water. Not good. Menu? Extremely limited...and pricey ...especially for my non seafood eating self. We were hoping to split some after work apps... Which narrowed my selection to olives. No thanks! The cherry on top was when we decided not to order food due to the very limited menu....our waitress told us we could not stay at our table...tables are for those ordering food. Which I would understand if: 1. Your hostess asked us before seating us if we were eating and 2. There were not 5 empty tables surrounding us. We need to leave so you can have another empty table? I'm not grasping that logic. I was clearly not impressed and really wanted to love it bc the location is so convenient!

Minus one star for the simple fact that they need to broaden their options and lower their prices. It's almost trying to be something it's not. Many people who live here (like myself) want to come here for lunch, the options are somewhat limited. With that being said-FANTASTIC brunch (Eggs Benedict was amazing) and the lobster roll is to die for. Unreal.

People are really complaining about the prices at Pier 6. If you can't afford it, don't come -- this isn't TotW anymore, get over it. The food and drinks were quite good, but the service was quite choppy (it was rather busy). The latest time we were there was during Dine Boston, but we did not order from the special menu. I had a burger (on the regular menu) and it was excellent, not too big nor too little and served exactly how I ordered it - med-rare. My finace had their crab cakes which were slightly dissapointing since they were not baked or pan friend, but seemed to be deep fried. They were OVERWHELMINGLY lemony and there was no taste of crab. That said, they were tasty, but not what I would call a "crab cake"...shame. Please just make crab cakes the way they are supposed to be made. The reason the restaurant looses a star is due to its "dude" culture/following: There were a lot of "Bros" there the night I was there. I DO NOT need that type of low-class behavior when I am trying to have a nice dinner with my fiance or visiting parents.

Wait staff was pretentious and bar looks over seagull shut on the docks and bar staff serves watered down drinks in plastic cup to a group of regulars ....do yourself a favor and avoid this dump

OK, you finally got the Mt Gay Rum in. Now, start using proper fresh ingredients for the drinks we pay 11/12 bucks for, and 86 the 19 year old college bartenders who spend all their time talking to friends on cell phones.

A friend and I went here because I had seen on Boston calendar that they had advertised a new "beer garden". When we arrived we went to the outside bar, where the majority was, what I'm assuming, a bunch of twenty somethings that were bored with their Tinder and decided to indulge in a legitimate social encounter. We ordered drinks off the drink menu that were a little pricey but overall not bad. My friend was a little turned off that the drinks were served in plastic cups when they were charging roughly $13 per cocktail. But, with the bar being outside and near the water, I can understand their lack of trust with actual glass. I asked the bartender about the alleged "beer garden", and she looked at me rather confused. She then pointed to about two dozen plants set up amongst the couches and tables on the deck and said that she thought maybe that was it. Listen, it wasn't a bad setup, but it was no beer garden. I definitely had a different visual in my mind. The fact that she didn't even know what I was referring to at first makes me believe she also didn't consider their display to meet that criteria also. Regardless, the view of Boston was really nice and the couches and chairs they arranged outside were comfortable. I'm not in a big rush to go back because I wasn't super impressed, but maybe a place for a potential date in the future.

Went for lunch with husband and my parents. Hostess was very unfriendly. Felt like we were inconveniencing her by walking up and asking for a table. Extremely confusing what "limited menu" was. Had to ask two times and didn't get the same story from either the hostess or our server. This place could be amazing with the views f Boston Harbor and the renovations from the former Tavern on the Water are a vast improvement, however the unwelcoming staff and the exorbitant prices make this a one time visit. Lobster roll was $23 for a something as small as a child's fist. The bar isn't welcoming downstairs or upstairs. The downstairs bar is still a complete meat market. If you are looking for a good meal with some good drinks in a comfortable atmosphere, Pier 6 isn't it. The place is living off the location.

So, I would love to give this place five stars, but the service was lacking, other than that, this place was amazing. Went in for dinner last night around sunset and what a view! Seemed to be "the" place to go. The food was amazing! I had the skirt steak, and wow. Amazing food, amazing ambience, would love to go back in hopes of better service. Did I mention this place was amazing?

They have fantastic views of Boston, the bar has a great selection and the service was friendly. They have a wonderful outdoor deck, but the inside seating has great views as well, with sliding glass doors and lots of glass. The food was excellent!!

All good things to say about this place. The combination of the food and the view was such a special treat in the middle of the city. Honestly, felt like we weren't even in Boston. We ordered the duck hash (yum, but a little on the salty side), the skirt steak and potatos (it was perfectly cooked medium rare), and we had the sticky chicken wings. Drinks were mimosa's, bloody mary's, shanty, and the spiked ice coffee. I really liked the iced coffee. Everything was fairly priced, no complaints here.

This is not a forgettable eating/drinking experience. The atmosphere, views, and vibe at Pier 6 are tough to beat. The restaurant sits out on a pier, overlooking Boston Harbor, and the Boston skyline. The music was fun, the atmosphere was clean and friendly, and the staff was attentive. We went for brunch, after some friends who had gone for dinner/drinks had recommended it. I got the duck hash with two eggs, and my fellow eater got the steak and eggs. My duck hash was flavorful and, despite being on the smaller side, filling. My partner's steak was cooked perfectly, though the eggs were unfortunately more hard-boiled than anything else. We also got some cocktails. My Bloody Mary was standard perfection. Our server was casual and honest. So, nothing to complain about there. I'm not giving this 5 stars because of two reasons. The first is that this place is small, which I normally prefer, but given the fact that it was during the brunch rush, we felt very rushed. While all of the service was accommodating, everything happened very quickly and we got that herd-em-in-herd-em-out feeling. The second reason is that, for the price, the portions were a little small. Overall, though, I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back in the warmer weather!

We live next door to this place so we've been here several times since they opened. We really want to like it and come here at least once a week in the Summer but there are several consistent issues: limited food menu, pricing and service. It's conceivable after the opening they were experimenting with the menu and would expand the food options (beyond 4-5 entrees). They also didn't have a beverage and wine menu for weeks after they opened. However, it's been months and the food options are limited and they still seem to be experimenting with various dishes with varying results. We went to the downstairs bar to watch the world cup games this week and asked for a glass of La Noble Chardonnay. The bartender looked at us like we were asking for a strange peculiar drink. After 5 minutes, she came back and informed us they didn't have it. So I asked for a glass of Muscadet and it was a similar response. Finally, I asked for Harpoon IPA on tab and she said they were out. We also ordered a half dozen oysters for the happy hour specials and received 5 oysters? The views and ambiance are very good and it's super convenient for us but the place still lacks identity: Is it just a bar for beer and cocktails? Is it an upscale or gourmet restaurant on the water? I don't think the Navy Yard residents want to pay $11-14 for a glass of wine served in a plastic cup with the type of food and service that is currently being offered (especially when they already have decks and views at home). The food is also much better at Navy Yard Bistro for similar prices. Maybe try some happy hour specials for drinks and good bar food to help create a loyal following. Legals C Bar is opening soon in Ctown so hope you guys can find your identity and better train your staff.

I came to Pier 6 with 5 of my friends for a Saturday brunch. We were seated right away and received a warm welcome from the hostess. It was a beautiful fall day in Boston and we had an amazing view of the skyline. After reading the menu, the waitress promptly asked us for our drink order. Most of us went with the Bloody Mary and one friend ordered a mimosa. I have had many bloody Mary's in my day and this is up there as one of the best I have ever had. It was perfectly spicy and the presentation was great too! For out entrees, I ordered the Pier 6 burger. It was juicy and cooked to perfection, the bun was fluffy but had a nice crunch from the grill, and the bacon was the ideal thickness. The fries were great too! I recommend getting another side of ketchup if you enjoy some for your burger and fries. The staff was very friendly and was very prompt on refilling our water glasses. Great service, great food, and a spectacular view. Pier 6 is a must-go!

This is the former Tavern on the Water. Same great view, same professional after work crowd. Great location, however poor service and expect a very long wait for dinner or a spot at the bar due to the small seating area and the high volume of patrons.

Let me preface this review by saying that, as a Charlestown resident who is dying for more great local joints in the area, I hope that the owners of Pier 6 will use this review for suggestions on what the local young professional community is really looking for: Good food at a fair price point, the servers who know your name, and a casual after work or weekend atmosphere. Upon spending a few hours there last night, I would say that Pier 6 has some work to do. Last night the intention was to check out the newest Chucktown spot for a drink or two, but we ended up putting our name in for a table. I am glad that we did because we got a gorgeous private room right on the water. Although the room was simple, with only one large table, candles, and one lamp, it was very beachy, and, as a woman I was with described it, it was a scene perfect for instagram. If one private room was all that a restaurant needed to get 5 stars, Pier 6 would be there. Unfortunately, there were a few things that knocked a potential 5 star review down to only 2 stars. So: Onto the more important items such as food, service and value: Food: Pier 6 is trying to be a little too upscale from what I saw of their limited menu. The menu ranges from small plates at $7ea to the scallops entree at an expensive $31 (for 5). Lobster Bisque- Very very strange. I am not sure why there were so many ingredients in this but it was as if they were trying to make up for the fact that they don't know how to make it? Make it simple and make it delicious without all the distractions! Ceviche- I believe this was a flounder ceviche and I found it pretty boring and undersalted. Tomato salad- Very plain small salad for $10. The dressing is also too overpowering/sour. Scallops- The scallop dish was very good with the big plump scallops some sort of lentil mixture underneath. This was a heavier, more winter feeling dish at a very high price point. Chicken- The standard half chicken with mashed potatoes and mushrooms that most restaurants that are trying to fit into this category serve. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were a nice touch. Lobster Roll- Who doesn't love a good lobster roll? Who doesn't love to pay $25 for a good lobster roll? This girl. It's fairly common knowledge in NE that Lobster prices are pretty low and stuffing lobster into a plain roll and putting it next to french fries doesn't make it worth $25. I understand operating costs and the like, but few "regulars" are going to be attracted to this lack of value. Tomato/Risotto- We didn't get this vegetarian option but just wanted to comment on the fact that one of the entree items was two stuffed tomatoes over risotto for $21. Little steep for tomatoes and risotto, no? Service- Service was a bit spotty with what seemed to be some newer busboys and foodrunners. Few things about the service that need to be fixed: 1- Please don't auction food. Know who ordered what, and, if people are sharing at the table, please coordinate with the waitress accordingly. As we shared everything as a group last night, it is unnecessary to explain to put the food anywhere on the table every time a dish comes out. 2- When drinks are served the waiter should NEVER touch the rim of the glass. Every drink, even wine, was served with the waiter's hand over the top. One waiter had black finger nails and it was unappealing for them to be all over the wine I was about to sip. 3- Lots of fumbling when clearing the table. When stacking the plates there was a lot of slamming of dishes and dropping of silverware. If you want people to pay upscale dining prices, you have to have good table service. Some basic training in clearing tables could go a long way. 4- Where is the owner? Oh that's right, he is the owner at Mija who is notorious for not saying hello to regulars. This is Charlestown. Please respect the local hospitality and introduce yourself if you want people to return. Stop into Navy Yard Bistro if you need some pointers! Pier 6: We really really really want to come back frequently, and not just Thursday-Saturday. Make the price points favorable to going out on a Monday night. I would suggest reducing the prices and simplifying the menu a bit. I will be back when they have their full menu finalized and hopefully have a better update.

Today was only Pier 6's second day of their soft opening, so they're still working out a lot of their kinks. The overall look is very reminiscent of Tavern on the Water, although definitely more upscale and a bit cleaner. They kept the pier bar without the sand, and completely renovated upstairs. We took a seat at the bar while we waited for our table and ordered a beer and mojito. That mojito was sttrrrrooong. Wow. We were shortly seated, and the menu is currently really rather limited- understandably though since it just opened. Their lunch menu offered oysters, two salads, three our four small plates, a burger, and a lobster roll (at $25). Because it was only the soft opening, I'd imagine they'll offer a more cohesive, comprehensive menu when they're fully open. The food was... just okay. The medium-well burger was charcoaled and my tomato salad (while it was a very pretty presentation) was a bit bland. While there's definitely potential to the menu, it seemed like Pier Six wasn't exactly sure who they wanted to be.. will they be a upscale seafood restaurant, or more of a tavern? The waitstaff mimicked the confusion... some staff were dressed nicely as if the restaurant were a bit more upscale, while others wore shorts and sneakers. Our waitress was friendly but was clearly very flustered and was open about her frustrations. I hope Pier 6 is able to get their act together soon and am hopeful to try it again when they're in full gear. Pier 6 as it stands- Ambiance- 5 stars (beautiful views, great atmosphere), Service- 3 stars (friendly but frazzled) Food- 2 Stars (should improve as menu is expanded) Total- 3.3 stars

Pier 6 could be great - they arguably have one of the best views of the Boston harbor and skyline - but they just don't understand service. For starters, they should hire bartenders who don't hate their jobs. Or at least these ladies appear to hate their jobs based on their scowling faces and inattention to paying customers.

    (2)
  • Lisa T.

Couldn't stand the pretentious attitude of the entire working culture here from the wait staff to the bartenders. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor to get off their mobile phones to take your order? I miss the old staff from Tavern on the H20. They report that they are dog friendly but they are not. We have had our dog downstairs and had a drink. Then the next week, dogs were not allowed at all? I would recommend you spend your hard earned money elsewhere. There are plenty of better waterfront dining options in Boston to consider over this place.

I frequented the previous place, Tavern on the Water, and when I heard that the new Pier 6 was having its soft opening I decided to check it out. First, the redesigned space looks great, although as another review mentioned the new hardwood floor is very slippery and I almost wiped out walking to the men's room. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was very good, made with house made mix and nicely spicy. Then on to a cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly rare, as ordered. I can't comment on the fries since I substituted an Arugula salad. The bar area has 4 flat screen TVs, but they all had to be tuned to the same channel. It would have been nice to watch multiple sports events at the same time, but I'm sure they will fix this before football season starts. Overall a great improvement and I'm glad to hear that they will be open year round. I would have given 3 stars, but they get an extra star just for the view.

Best waterfront bar in Boston. You simply won't find views like these anywhere else. Perfect blend of service and ambiance. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Have I mentioned the views. Delicious burger, lobster roll, gnochi and well made drinks. Haven't had a poor experience yet. Miles ahead of where TotW left off.

I'll be nice about this. Absolutely terrible food and service. Waiter couldn't open a champagne bottle. Salad was soggy and chicken was tough. Asked for medium burger and received a well done hockey puck. Waiter never asked once about our meals. All around thumbs down!

When you compare this updated spot to the old tavern it is a big upgrade as far as the decor goes. The furniture is new and clean and there is plenty of outdoor seating where one can enjoy the amazing views, which is why this place gets 3 stars instead of 2. The menu and the food is in need of much attention. I really wanted to like this place and am giving them this feedback in the hopes they improve their menu items so I can become a regular here. We started by asking for a wine menu, which apparently they don't have. The waitress was pleasant, but not knowledgeable. The prices are a bit high for the quality you get. The bottle of wine we got is typically $25 at other restaurants, here it was $33. We also ordered a glass of it once we finished the bottle and they charged us $10.02. No, that's not a typo - what an odd price. Also, a glass should cost about 1/4 of what the bottle costs (~$8.25 would have been reasonable) We started with oysters, which were fresh and there was a nice selection. We followed that with the heirloom tomato salad priced at $13. It was fresh and a good sized portion. We then ordered a small plate of Maine crab cakes ($9) which were a nice portion and while it was real crab, it was not fresh and had a fishy taste to it. Instead of us each ordering a meal we decided to share the lobster role, which unfortunately also tasted fishy. At $25 I better love it! But unfortunately it was not fresh and the slaw that came with it was doused in vinegar. The waitress was attentive enough to notice that we didn't eat it and offered us something else. We figured we'd steer clear of fish and try the BBQ ribs which are an odd item on the menu. I'd say they are just ok, but not something we'd get again. I'd recommend they replace the ribs with a burger or a steak which is something the menu is missing. This place has a lot of potential and I hope they rework their menu and prices. Charlestown needs a nice after work spot! Until then, I'll stick to the drinks and the view.

This place gets 5 stars for it's view. We sat right by the window and enjoyed a view of the harbor, boats, birds, with the city in the background. Beautiful! It was not crowded when we went for brunch, and the service was great & quick. We both ordered the scrambled eggs, and I ordered my bacon well done. When we got our food, the waiter came back to make sure my bacon was well done. Very basic menu.

I'm not one to complain and the atmosphere is 5 stars for sure. However, they need to get their stuff together - we got there at 6pm on a Saturday. Were told an hour wait, ok, fine. Lovely night so we got a drink and sat outside. 2.5 hours later we basically had to beg to be seated. We ended getting seated next to people we knew who said our table had been unoccupied for close to an hour. Food was good but not worth the wait. Prices are what you'd expect. Bottom line: MAKE RESERVATIONS!!!!! or go there with some patience. Will I go back again? Probably... but not on a nice night at dinner time without reservations.

After hearing great things about this place, I decided to take my parents here while they were visiting Boston. We went Sunday at 3pm and they were still serving breakfast/brunch which was basically breakfast, 3 salad options and a burger. There was not much in the way of lunch or a hearty meal. I got the crab cakes and arugula salad ($19 for both) and I was still hungry afterwards. Mom had lobster roll and fries, again, very small portion and underwhelming lobster roll. Dad had the burger, probably the best thing on the menu. The service was terrible. I understand it was packed but it's a small restaurant and there were plenty of waitstaff. They looked confused, didn't know which tables belonged to who, and were SUPER loud and cumbersome about bussing the dirty dishes. The view is nice, but there are plenty of other places with a nice view of the city. Just because you have a good location, doesn't mean you can skimp on food and service! Also, more signage would be helpful. When you first arrive, you're not sure where to go? Up the stairs? Walk around the building? They had a paper taped to the window that said "Bar Open Downstairs" but what it still wasn't clear where the main entrance to this place was...

We were supposed to have reservations for 4 tonight, having made the reservations days ago. We received a message this afternoon that there was a problem with their reservations and we no longer had one. No apology, no accomodation for what plans we had made days ago because something messed up in house. This is on top of having my brother's birthday there a couple months ago, which my sister-in-law planned with a lot of effort and they screwed up those reservations as well making everyone wait two hours and comping 3 appetizers for the inconvenience. I had been there when it was Tavern on the Water and clearly the new management is running around with its head cut off not knowing which way is up. Although a great location, I cannot anticipate trying to go back to this place again.

We have been meaning to come here for a while and I was a little hesitant given the negative reviews here so went into dinner without any great expectations and boy was I more than pleasantly surprised!! The service from the minute we walked in was great and the food was top notch. After seeing an order of the sweet and spicy wings go by we decided to start there and definitely weren't disappointed. I had the pan seared cod which was extremely fresh and cooked perfectly. My husband had the steak and he too was very pleased with the meal. My only regret is that we hadn't come here sooner!

Time for updates 2 months laster... November 15th - Sal, the severely inexperienced manager, finally contacted me to ask for my mailing address to send a check. November 15th - I reply with my address December 27th - He STILL hasn't given my money back. I asked him If I could start charging him interested. I guess it's time to go back to Bank of America and start the 90 day chargeback process. Arggh.. What a waste of time.

Pier6, I am so glad you are open! Pier 6 is a vast improvement over the Tavern on the Water which used to be at this location. It maintains the same spectacular views of Boston on the water, but everything on the inside from the food to the decorations are a touch nicer. The food is a bit more expensive than the old Tavern, but on the other hand, one is no longer afraid of being food poisoned. Since they've opened, they've broadened the price range of entrees which makes it more approachable for those wishing to grab a more casual, neighborhood dinner. Drinks are good, although when they first opened they were constantly out of dark and stormies. Some suggestions for one of my favorite local bars: 1) The only thing I liked more about the old Tavern was that they had pitchers of dark and stormies and margaritas, that were great for groups in the summer. Could you bring those back? 2) Perhaps an item like fish and chips or a fish sandwich would be a nice fit, given the waterfront location? 3) A wider variety of dinner options under $20 would be appreciated and would probably persuade many to come around more often. 4) What about some clam chowdah? 5) Your sweet and sticky wings appetizer is awesome--don't change a thing with this one.

First visit was just okay, went back realizing they had just opened. Not good, very limited menu - with no options for sides, bread, etc. No dessert. Pumpkin risotto when served was obviously sitting around for awhile as it was all dried out on top. We don't think we'll be going back.

We really want to like this place. Being from the neighborhood, we wanted to be able to really enjoy Pier 6. But I am afraid, after our fourth visit, we just have to say we are completely disappointed. First, at the downstairs bar, I ordered a whiskey and soda. The bartender gave it a short pour and served it in a plastic glass, and charged me $11. Gagggh!. Could not even taste the whiskey. Then upstairs at our inside table, we each ordered a glass of white wine. The wine came in short plastic cups and cost $11 a glass ... in a plastic cup? We ordered oysters which were fresh and good ... thank goodness at $2.75 each. Only tourists would think that is a good value. We both ordered the swordfish for $26 and the beet salad. There was no bread or crackers or anything brought to the table. Beet salad was good, but a very small portion. The entree' arrived and at first glance we were startled at how small the fish cut was. The fish came on a bed of something called quinoa, a super grain of some kind but it was tasteless and ice cold. The fish was okay but the portion ridiculously small. Bottom line, the meal was a disappointment. We left hungry. This place has gotten more expensive each time we have gone. The view from the bar is spectacular and the staff is warm and friendly. But we can't recommend Pier 6. Way too expensive, poor quality food and wine in plastic cups even when dining inside ... no thanks. We miss Tavern on the Water.

We went here for brunch in the late summer and were pretty happy with the experience. I totally recommend the stuffed french toast, which two of us got. Our other friend got the breakfast sandwich, which she was happy with, but she later wished she had the french toast as well.

The joke my friends have been making is that this place should be called "Fenway on the Water". The views are still gorgeous, but it's hard to not spend a good chunk of change while you are there. Despite spending a good bit of time in Charlestown, I can't see this being a place I'll frequent regularly.

Just had brunch here this morning. Eggs Benedict was delicious. After we were just about finished with our meal, we noticed our waiter fighting with the manager outside, probably about 10 feet away from our table. Then we saw our waiter storm thru the restaurant, grab his things and leave. We waited about 15 minutes for our check. Finally I asked another waitress what happened and she informed me that he quit. No one offered us an apology, and I felt the whole situation was handled extremely unprofessionally.

I was impressed for a soft opening. The place looks great redecorated. Our server, Julia, was very attentive and helpful when we asked about the oyster options. She also asked the kitchen to split the salad my friend and I were having between two plates so we didn't have to do it ourselves. That said, things were not perfect. The salad came out last, after my friend and I had tried separate small plates, which seemed like an odd order, but we had not been specific when ordering. After dinner we freed up the table but stayed at the bar for another drink (which turned into two) and soon we though a little bit more food would be good considering the alcohol intake. They have a decent beer selection (not too many on draft, but additional bottle variety helped). The bartender took my request to get just the side of fries from the lobster roll as a quick dessert/snack and I was happy they were able to accommodate. I think we stayed around for that second round of drinks because of it. Bathroom looks great but they need hooks on the back of the bathroom doors! I'd like to come back when they have a full menu and the small kinks are worked out.

Went here for lunch with some coworkers. The changes to the interior so far are nice. Service was good/ adequate. Menu was very small, and way over priced. The $25 lobster roll was comparable with a $15 roll at a family restaurant. It was good, but far from great and certainly mis-priced. My coworkers' food was similar to what you would get under the prior ownership but for twice the price.

I will preface this with the fact that I went for brunch twice. have not gone yet for lunch or dinner. Brunch was just great. My wife and I both got the corned beef hash and eggs. The way they do the eggs is very different from any place else I've been. I wasn't sure I would like it but I actually did. They brown the eggs on the bottom. But even though it was crisp on the bottom I still had an over easy egg. not sure how they did that. Anyway the hash was excellent. We also ordered a side of potato's and those were worth the meal by themselves. Awesome flavors! Our waitress was extremely pleasant and very attentive. Maybe the staff is different for brunch but I know we will return again on the weekends. I do want to check them out in the evenings as well. The waitress told us they have plans to expand the menu as well and add burgers too. I hope they do that because I would really like them to do well since they are right next door. My only area for improvement is to add something to the stairs so they aren't slippery in the rain. Its an accident waiting to happen. Okay so I just got back from dinner here. I had the special which was pan fried salmon in a curry sauce. I gotta say it was amazing. The sauce was fantastic. The salmon was cooked perfectly. so I've read where people think its expensive but 24 bucks for a perfect piece of salmon and I don't think thats a high price considering the location and the quality of the dish. My wife had the burger (with home made pickles) and raved the whole time she was eating it. So I am increasing my rating to 5 stars. I am not sure what the heck is going on with everyone else. Service was excellent as well. We plan to go here quite a lot.

We've been in a few times and really enjoyed it each night. The place looks so nice and I don't think there is a better view to be had. I like the bar, decent drafts with some different harpoons. Good oyster selection and we also had the oyster app that had some that had a bbq sauce in them or something. Really good. I've also done the bbq plate which surprised me. I wouldn't have expected it to be so good from a non-bbq place. Keep an eye out for their local nights. I think it's Tuesdays, but they do some lesser expensive meals.

I have to say that after a response from management, I truly believe that there is a sincere effort to value customers opinions! For that reason, I will be giving Pier 6 another try!

Really disappointed. Live next door and was hoping for a good local spot for a meal and a few drinks. Beer and wine selection terrible!! No craft beers in 2013! You have to be kidding. Wines all very generic. Also no drink list. Everyone has a drink list these days Food was ok but bartender was not very helpful or knowledgable. Thank god the place has a great view

Yikes! So much potential but they're really not there especially for the price. We made 8pm reservations for new year's eve. We paid $75/person for what was advertised as a 3-course dinner with a bottle of prosecco followed by dancing from 10pm-2am and a champagne toast at midnight. We knew exactly what they advertised, but their staff had absolutely no idea what was going on. First of all, we got there a few minutes before our reservation and were asked to wait briefly for our table. Sure, no problem, we've waited for reservations before. Cue the cronies of one of the staff coming in and being seated right away (with the same number of people in their group). Now it's 8:35, another group arriving after us has been seated, and we're still standing near the door. "Two minutes" turns into ten more minutes. Everyone's reservation was at 8pm (they had a 6pm seating and an 8pm seating, according to their advertisement) so there was no reason at all for the groups before us to be seated right away while we stood around. Meanwhile, the bouncer/doorman who's chatting with us is very confused by our inquiries about the dancing from 10pm-2am, we were asking about it because we didn't see where the dancefloor would be. He told my husband directly that we're supposed to leave after dinner and then come back later after the 10pm people were done eating, "maybe go to Mija or somewhere in Faneuil?". Buddy, it's 5 degrees out and I'm wearing a dress and heels, do I look like I want to walk over a mile to Faneuil Hall when I paid to stay here and dance after dinner? When my friend and I questioned him because we made the reservations and knew what was advertised, he rebuked my husband for saying that we had to leave and said that's not what he said at all, "of course we'd never ask you to leave," but that there's no DJ and no band, just background music that gets turned louder, and the dance floor is this nice empty 3ft-wide space between the tables and bar that you see right now as they clear a few tables away. Hmmm.... Finally we are seated, prosecco bottle is brought over right away, poured and put into their ice sink a few steps away. Nobody ever came back to see if we needed more, so my friend eventually took it upon herself to go get the bottle and top us all off. About an hour later the waiter realized that the bottle wasn't where he left it and said we should have told him we needed refills. Don't get me wrong, he was a nice guy, funny, but an AWFUL server. We didn't get our orders in for another hour and by the time we were eating it was 10:30, I kid you not. The champagne toast they advertised? He didn't know we were supposed to get it, and my friend insisted that he bring it over, so we were literally in the 10-second countdown to midnight when he brought some plastic flutes over. The food was better than we expected it to be--raw seafood plate for two was good sized, white peppered tuna with mushrooms and creamed spinach was all delicious, and our friends' lamb and short rib were both good as well. Chocolate mousse was a weird texture and too salty for my taste but the banana upside down cake was great. The service in this place is some of the worst I have ever experienced, which was such a disappointment because the view is beautiful and the fireworks took place right there in front of us which was nice, not to mention the food actually was good. Come to find out, the doorman suggested Mija because it's owned by the same people--that makes sense because Mija is the other place with the worst service I've ever experienced! It all finally made sense... What a shame. Save your money!

Was there on a busy Thursday night and had a delightful time. The view is beautiful once we turned our table so we could see it. We had oysters, the beet salad, bouillabaisse and the crab cakes. All were well prepared and beautifully presented. The atmosphere casual but elegant. We didn't have reservations and they were cheerful about seating us anyway. The bar was busy with cocktailers and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. I would love to have given this gem of a restaurant their well deserved five stars, but our server (older guy. Tall) was pretty terrible. When asked "what do you recommend for local beers" he told us to "read the menu" then didn't come back for 15 minutes. And he went downhill from there.

Horrid dining experience! Just close the kitchen immediately and keep the bartender only. Literally the view and drinks are the only thing good about this place. Excellent dirty martinis. Had an 8:45 reservation last night... Was told by the hostess, they are running about ten minutes late. Okay- no big deal, my party of four can wait a little bit. We get seated at 9:45! Not sure what we were thinking sticking around. Waitor = worst waiting I've ever had. Forgetful, incompetent, unapologetic. It's 10PM, 2 dirty martinis later and the food still tastes like crap. Get this.... They ran out of steak, BREAD, and DESERT!!!!!! I can't make this up.

I have tried soooo hard to love (not just like) this place and after my experience last night I will no longer try. Food: - they try to hard to be fancy/different with the food. Ordinary dishes with weird twist to them...they miss the mark (every time) Service: - 70% of the waitstaff are GREAT, but the other 30% just ruin it... - last night was the last straw- the owner sat at the next table over from us and "smug" doesn't begin to describe him... He wanted to save the table on the other side of his table and asked the hostess to re-seat the customers she just sat there, then another party sat down and I thought he was going to fire someone on the floor...he got so heated with the staff. They were running around, it was understandable that the memo didn't reach all staff members. Since our table was so close to theirs normally its inevitable to exchange smiles- nope not the case. Never exchanged smiles or even acknowledged that we were inches away and he caused a huge disturbance trying to reserve a table. I hope the owner reads this and previous reviews and reevaluates how he treats people. Thanks to yelp, what goes around comes around!

Roasted Cape Oysters were wonderful, but everything was far too overpriced for me to go back for another dinner. Will stick to drinks and the view next time.

I had visited Tavern on the Water many times before and was very excited to go to Pier 6 and check out the new space. The view is still spectacular, and the decor is much better, but the food is NOT worth the hefty pricetag. After waiting 10 minutes or so at our table, We started off with drinks. There was no drink menu but the waitress let us know the bartender could make whatever we want. Fine, but I would have liked to see some specialty cocktails. I ordered a glass of wine without looking at the menu. I would have expected the house wine to be around $7-$8. The bill showed $11 per glass. I then ordered the Lobster Roll. At $23, I was disappointed with what I got. The lobster salad was dry and the bun wasn't buttered, so it was just a dry, crunchy mess. Near impossible to eat and difficult to swallow. As a Charlestown resident, I would have hoped for a place I could frequent more often, but with the disappointing food, expensive price tag, and limited food options, I don't think I'll come back for anything but a drink or two so I can take advantage of the view.

Finally another good restaurant in Charlestown. Started out with Ceviche, crab cakes, and oysters. Each dish was fresh and flavorful, especially the ceviche. My wife had the salmon special and I tried the lobster. The salmon was great and the sides (quinoa & eggplant) were flavorful. The lobster Rockefeller was a little on the small side, but tasted great. My only complaint is that there was no cocktail or desert menu, which seemed odd.

Beautiful setting but the food is expensive, disappointing and portions are skimpy. The waitstaff was very nice though and since it wasn't crowded, they gave me a choice of where to sit and offered to open the window for me which was a nice touch. I started with the shrimp ceviche. The shrimp had a nice texture but the citrus broth it was set in overwhelmed all the garnish and although it was served with a spoon, I used a fork to avoid the whole thing becoming a mushy mess. Next, I had the grilled fish tacos. A tasteless fish was grilled and set into two tortillas which were also supposed to be grilled but they just had that gray grill mark that looks like when your grill grates are dirty? No char....you know what I mean don't ya ;-) !! I don't know what the purpose of double tortillas was...to give you more to fill you up?! They tasted old and the salsa tasted like it came from a jar. Finally, the best part of the meal was the butterscotch pudding! It was creamy and the whipped cream was delish with candied walnuts sprinkled on top...the view of the skyline and the pudding were what made it worth the trip!

Enjoyed great lunch with spectacular view. My guest and I tried two different salads with the Crab cakes. Presentation was wonderful as was the portion, freshness and flavor! Staff very cordial and attentive. Price well worth the meal and surroundings. Beautiful decor and restroom facilities.

Was so excited that a new place was opening in the old Tavern on the Water location but very disappointed after my first visit. Yes, they've done a great job renovating but it is way overpriced. $7 for a Michelob Ultra? Really?? That's almost as bad as Fenway. Even if they are trying to attract a more upscale crowd that's ridiculous. They won't survive a winter where they need to rely on local repeat business. I hope they realize some changes are needed.

Menu is very small and limited. The food is very tasty, but small portions. The appetizer list is very small. There are no dessert options and when we asked for coffee after our dinner, the waiter advised us to not get it telling us that the coffee was a lot of work to make and it wasn't that good since it came from a Keurig. Very strange staff. The location and atmosphere are great. Because there are so few restaurants in the Navy Yard, I believe this restaurant could be much more popular if they increased the menu options and lowered their prices a bit.

went here for lunch yesterday and the menu was TINY. there were 5 entrees on the menu and they were out of one of them. got the fish tacos and they were ok, but i was still hungry. it was a plate with two small fish tacos on it and nothing on the side. i'm not a huge person and it doesn't take a ton to fill me up, but they could have at least given you three tacos instead of two! the location is nice. but the food needs a little help. it's pricey for a lunch spot. but i guess you're paying for the view? not worth it.

beautiful restaurant and awesome location. I thought the menu was limited, although the chicken I had was very good. my major complaint is that it was so dark eating outside that we couldn't even see what we were eating. pier 6, you need better lighting or brighter candles!!

I checked out this restaurant on Friday night, the week of their soft opening. I'm hoping to upgrade this review to a 4-5 star after they've worked out some kinks, but also hope the owners read through these reviews and take a few notes. The space: the renovations look great. The downstairs bar is classy with a beautiful granite bar, perfect view but was strangely.. empty. The upstairs bar/dining area was packed wall to wall people--mostly groups of bros, and lots of girls in tiny shorts and heels.. meat market-style). Once we realized they don't serve food downstairs (or have a wait staff to man the 10 empty tables lining a beautiful skyline view..?) we understood better. Seating experience: 1) No host stand. I had to walk around looking for someone to take my name--it was very unclear where I was supposed to go, who I was supposed to talk to. What I finally found was a very sweaty, busy looking man with a clipboard running around seating people and eventually finding his way back to the front of the room to take names. May I suggest TWO people for this job: One to man the door and one to seat guests. 2) When we were finally called for a table, we were taken to a tiny table in the middle of the bar with one chair. Apparently they bought JUST enough chairs for all the seats in the bar, and someone had taken off with one. We had to wait for them to clear another table before moving us to the second table (because they couldn't' move a chair from that one to first, nicer located table? Very strange. 3) We were crammed in in a row of 2-tops, in the middle of a very noisy bar. About halfway into our meal, they decided to try and seat 3 people at the 2 top next to us, which meant someone basically sitting in our laps. I was stunned they would try this. Luckily, a table next to us opened up and I asked the manager if we could move to that table so they could push the other two tables together to better accommodate 3 people. At this point, we were now on our THIRD table. Service: Our server was great. Very sweet, helpful, food came out hot and quickly. After we moved to our third table, we were missing silverware and the food runner noticed immediately, and brought it all for us. Food: We ordered the heirloom tomato salad (delicious, fresh, perhaps a little pricey), lobster bisque (simple, flavorful, tasty, though again, pricey), the chicken (highly recommend this dish--perfectly cooked, large portion), and lobster roll (highly anticipated given the $25 price tag--let down. Lots of lobster, but very plain, nothing unique, and on a sub-like style roll. Fries were good.) Drink: Decent local beer selection on tap but sad bottle beer selection. Has the owner not gotten wind of the craft beer craze? How about some selection aside from domestic light beers? Also saw no drink menu or wine list, so have to assume that does not exist yet. Overall: There's great potential here--excellent food, space, and locals are dying for someplace that's comfortable yet affordable. Why not make the downstairs bar a BAR and the upstairs a dining room, where patrons feel better about spending $100 on a meal, when there's not bros dripping their bud lights on you while you eat? Make the seating experience less frenzied, invest in some extra chairs, stop trying to pack in people like sardines.

We had dinner and drinks at Pier 6 on the upper deck. The food was pretty good. Great oysters, I liked the shrimp ceviche and the ribs. The service was MIA for the most part. After we were seated it took our waitress 20 minutes to come to our table and take our order. It took even longer for the food to arrive. By then it was very dark and we couldn't see our food, people ate in the reflection of their smartphones' flashlights. There were candles on tables but they weren't too helpful. I'm not sure why there aren't any lamps on the upper deck. After dinner we moved downstairs to the bar for a few drinks. The music was good. We had a hard time getting the bartender's attention, because he was texting while tending the bar. Food was pretty good, drinks were okay, service needs improvement.

The views here are pretty nice but nothing amazing, next time I'll have to sit at the upper deck area to see if those are any better. I came here on a Monday night and it was probably the first warm night where you could enjoy some drinks outside. We sat in the dining area right next to the windows which were all open and let in a nice breeze. Our server was friendly but super busy the entire night but gave us enough attention throughout the night. My friend and I just wanted something small to eat so we ordered the sticky wings which sounded good but didn't taste so good. They seemed to be deep fried all the meat literally melted or something. Definitely overcooked and we weren't impressed. We also ordered the burger which was good. They split it for us which was nice. The cabbage slaw it came with was great and the burger wasn't too bad either. The fries were awesome, definitely give them that. Cooked to perfection and cripsy just as I like. I'm sure this place gets packed on warm summer nights so I will definitely come back and check it out. Good views, parking isn't great but there is a parking garage close by, food isn't great but has potential. If you are looking for a drinking spot definitely stop by if you are looking for a great dinner find another spot.

Don't go here if you are hungry or handicapped. Tried this place twice because of the VIEW and our college friends are from out of town. The food is It is pricey and flavorless. From the continuous "pushy" wait staff, the emphasis is on drinking and we could not carry on a conversation without being constantly interrupted regarding "drinks". The lobster roll lacked lobster. I believe it was $24-$26. The iceberg lettuce in the Cobb salad was brown at the edges and the mussels were tough and gritty. Our friend's Dad is handicapped. He was thinking of taking him there for the drink because of the view. Apparently the dining rooms on the second floor are not handicapped accessible. We were told that he could use his wheelchair downstairs. Well there is two outdoor areas downstairs. One is cramped with outdoor furniture and exposed to the elements. The downstairs bar attracts a loud drinking crowd and again none of us could imagine a wheelchair maneuvering in that tight area. I was not aware that a restaurant could get a license in Boston without handicap access. I'm not sure if there are "true" bathrooms downstairs. In baseball, 3 strikes make an out...in this case 2 strikes and several hundred dollars is one huge OUT and never again. We will walk down the end of the pier and see the same view for free and no indigestion.

The view= 5 - One of the best on the water dining/drinking spots in the city. Ambience = 4 - Updated decor, a few TV's to watch local sports, and good tunes playing on the sound system. Service = 3.5 - Nothing to complain about, but I didn't get the sense that our server was very familiar with the nuances of the menu. She was friendly and patient with my elderly counterpart. Food = 2.5 - I hate to say this but we were utterly unimpressed with all of the food we had. We started with the Meze Plate. WHY DO YOU NEED TO FRY PITA CHIPS??? Please stop this. Pita chips should be baked and it you really want to kick your healthy option quotient up a notch, try making them in multigrain or at least whole wheat. I had the Bouillabaisse. I'm not a nazi about having steaming hot food, but there were parts of this dish which we lukewarm at best or cold. There wasn't nearly enough sauce to dip the mussels and clams in (which probably would have kept everything warm longer too). The sauce itself didn't knock my socks off either. The definition of a good sauce is when you want and need to taste in every bite until all the food is gone and then you find yourself sopping up the remained with the bread. None of that was there for me. My wife had the tuna, which was fairly well executed and visually appealing, but the flavors were once again underwhelming. The beets on the plate had no flavor. I'm not sure how you get a beet with no flavor. My father-in-law got the lobster slider, which the waitress proclaimed as very good. It seemed to come with a decent amount of meat, but my father in law found himself picking around the hot dog bun that it was served on. I would say for $23 they need to come up with something a little more original than a hot dog bun (pretzel roll, bahn mi bun or something home made). The value is decent. I think the meal ended up being around $40-45/person with one glass of wine each + tip. If Pier 6 could focus a little more on enhancing the food experience, this place would easily become a solid 4 star.

I went to Pier 6 for a friend's birthday/ going away dinner last night with a group and had a great time. We arrived early and had a few drinks at the bar (my first one was something with strawberry and bourbon, second was blueberry vodka, both amazing). The bartender was so sweet and helpful - not only did she let overhear my friend say her phone was dying and offer her a charger, she also gave the birthday girl a free drink! For dinner, I had a salad with fried goat cheese and strawberries; I'm all about #balance. I did eat the entire salad which is admittedly rare, not sure if this means the portions were on the smaller side or I was hungry/holding a good buzz... Our server was happy to take our (increasingly rambunctious) groups' photo with the Boston skyline as our backdrop, and as we were walking to the parking lot another employee yelled to us from the balcony as he found a forgotten cell phone. Overall, it was a great venue with amazing views, incredibly friendly staff, delicious food and drinks that packed a punch! Will definitely be back.

We have been to Pier 6 about 6 times since it opened with new owners. We love it. The menu is simple, but with something for everyone. The bar is great with about 6-8 beers on tap. The view of Boston is spectacular. The lobster roll is super and the chicken is a favorite. Please give Pier 6 a try, you will not be disappointed..

This is a real classy place for lunch. A bit on the pricy side for sure but it is what you expect. The lobster roll is really fantastic and something I've ordered multiple times. The burgers are actually quite good too. What is not good is the fried oysters... They taste waaaaay too gamey... Almost like a chicken liver... Don't get the fried oysters. That said, the views are really really nice on a clear day. You get to see the Boston skyline as well and planes taking off from Logan airport.
