Came here with two coworkers for lunch after visiting the MIT museum. One of them knew a local who recommended this restaurant. Bertucci's is a casual Italian eatery, with a huge kitchen featuring brick ovens and plenty of seating. Colorful menus showing all sorts of pizzas, pastas, salads, etc. Huge seating area. Service was great and the food was excellent (we all got individual, small pizzas which are 8-inch diameter). Appetizers include piping hot and soft bread rolls with premixed olive oil/rosemary/red pepper dip. Also a refreshing green salad with olives in a large bowl for sharing. I got the Ultimate Bertucci which is a meat lover's pizza - four quadrants of different flavors: chicken, ham, and two types if sausage with different taste and textures. Crust was thin and crispy without being burned, and perfect balance of sauce and cheese. Very affordable prices, and I could see waitresses handling huge dishes of pasta to other guests - generous portions obviously.

Since its finally spring and we work so hard, our boss treated us to lunch. I called one day prior and placed a phone order from off of their catering menu: 1 large farmhouse salad: The salad was good and came naked. We didn't eat it with any dressing and it was still very flavorful. I liked how although it was a salad that feeds 6-8 people all ingredients were separated which was awesome since I don't eat meat. It was convenient having the pepperoni's in their own pile and not mixed in. 1 margarita pizza: Delicious 1 pepperoni pizza: I don't eat meat but everyone else enjoyed it. 1 veggie pizza: So many veggies, so little time. I love veggies so this was very good. Everything was tasty and the delivery service was right on time and professional! It was smooth sailing and our department really enjoyed everything and my boss gave me the $5 off coupon! Score!

Went here with a friend. The food was great and the waitress was nice to refill the bun stack when it got empty. Will probably go here sometime again.

I subtracted 2 stars because although the food is delicious, they are ALWAYS late when delivering, by at least 10 minutes. I have to order it for the executives at my company and it really pisses me off when the food is late.

Bertucci's is a decent Italian chain restaurant that can please a variety of different taste. The food won't knock your socks off, but it's good, relatively inexpensive, and will definitely fill you up. Granted, there are plenty of better Italian options around the city, but if you're going to go down the food chain route, I would definitely recommend this location in particular. It's never full, so whether you arrive on a peek night or show up with a big party unexpected, you can count on quick seating, friendly service, and a stress-free meal. Stick to their pizza and calzones and you won't be disappointed. If you venture further than that, you may be taking a risk.

The following is based on a TRU story: Few other eating establishments have such an odd place in my life's story. When I was but a schoolboy at the tender age of fourteen, my class went on a field trip to this Bertucci's. Why This place? Budget cuts. On the way there, one of my teachers howled, as per usual, the itinerary for our stay in Boston. After she mentioned dinner at Berruchi's, one of my peers inquired about dessert and whether we would receive it or not. This teacher, and the rest of our instructors, became livid. One stood up and scolded, "How dare to speak that way on a school sponsored function? You are representing your school, your family, and your town by going on this trip! We will not hesitate to send anyone home who thinks it wise to speak like that again!" We were dumbstruck. The boy retorted, "I just wanted to know if we were getting dessert." Needless to say, we didn't get dessert. The second Bertuchiz incident happened two years later. My friends and I went to MIT for a competition that was a vain attempt to get us into college. Our waiter's name was Serene. She was from The Islands. She had this blank stare and a long, mystical drawl to everything she said. After she took our orders and brought out the pizza, a certain yelper asked if he could get some oregano to go with his dish. She was perplexed. The question seemed to strike her very core. Serene asked the yelping boy to repeat himself. "Oregano," she asked. "What is thaaaaht??" It's uncommon enough to find a charming woman of The Islands as one's waiter in an Italian restaurant. To find a waiter who doesn't know what oregano was seemed impossible. Until that day. Then it became possible. The doormat had a pizza on it. Mat game on point. 5/5.

My boyfriend and I go here for date night from time to time and always request the same waiter (Chris). He's a really funny and makes our dining experience one-of-a-kind every time! A great server as well (attentive to our needs, gets the drinks and food out very quickly. Totally recommend requesting him as your waiter!

They have the best bread rolls I've ever had, and you can get as many of them as you like, for free. Their pizzas are great too, and the eggplant parmigiana is one excellent as well.

Staff is friendly and helpful but the food is always mediocre at best. Today had the Salmon Pesto salid and it arrived with fermenting lettuce and a piece of salmon that was burned to a crisp. They made it right by,

I like this Bertuccis. It's never really crowded and their food is pretty consistent. Delivery can be a longer wait around dinner time- no matter what day it is. I recommend calling around 4-4:30pm for 1 hour delivery, otherwise it may be up to 2 hours plus a long wait on hold when you call. Note, Bertuccis has an online ordering system- but this Bertuccis does not use it. The website has said it is "coming soon" for about a year now. Come on guys, it would really help streamline the process for customers and staff! Oh and for delivery or pickup they will give you as many rolls as you want- one time we asked for 4 and they misheard us so we got 14! Hah.

I really don't like writing negative reviews. I also don't like complaining. That being said, I will make an exception for this Bertuccis. I love going to Bertuccis in general because the food is consistent and cheap. I know what to expect. I always get the Grilled Chicken Chopped Salad with the dressing on the side. I know this salad. Iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped cucumbers, bacon, grilled chicken, and a gorgonzola vinaigrette. 1) Took a longer time than normal. 2) Came with dressing on the side... but also completely dressed-- no-- DOUSED in dressing. The waitress immediately offered to take it back, but she was a little hesitant about it, "Like, oh, I can take it back if you really can't handle it." I gave it a try but it was honestly soaked and I just didn't want to settle. I asked for a re-do. 3) The second one came out much faster (why did the first one take so long?) but it was covered in blue cheese and was missing the bacon. 4) The waitress took away the first two salads and told me she would bring a third. Then she came back and gave me a list of reasons why the salad was wrong... but honestly, I get this salad exactly the way I like it at every other Bertuccis. With no problem. 5) I ultimately lost my appetite... feeling like if I ever got the correct salad, it would be spit on or something. 6) The manager offered to take it off the bill, or to give me a piece of cake. I just didn't want it, I was bummed out. :( 7) Also if someone is ordering a salad with dressing on the side, do you seriously think they want a giant piece of cake? I feel kinda bad, the waitress was really nice and was trying her best. I also don't think that I was being a nightmare customer. I was very nice the entire time, I just had a really bad experience. I feel like the whole place is disorganized and sloppy. There are much better options and even better bertuccis within a short distance. Ugh.

Giving 2 stars because the delivery guy was nice. However, when I opened the container, half of the sauce was in the bag along with the contents. Not happy

The food here is good for the price- I personally recommend chicken tortellini, chicken Domani, or pasta and meatballs. The service is hit or miss, mostly because the manager seems to have a bad attitude herself. Order for take out if you can.

Great easy go-to dinner or lunch place. Tasty sangria! Also really nice to have a gluten-free menu. Vegetables always come out delicious! And my stomach never hurts after a meal here. Attentive service.

first and LAST time I will use this place when hosting lunch and learns for my customers in the area as they showed up 20 minutes late, which is really fun when you have 25 hungry people in front of you. gave them lots of time for the order and assured me they would be on time or even early and even commented that my customer is very close by and they go there all the time. if that wasn't enough they messed up the bill. For me to write a negative on a pizza place, it had to have been an experience that struck me. I can understand if the wait staff is new and/ or inexperienced. I don't hold that against them and it is reflected in my tip (unless of course the service is so lousy and rude that I am left no choice.) so that is not my main concern here. We arrived at 8 pm on a Saturday night when they have a 10pm closing, there was a decent business going on but not too busy. The quality of the food was severely lacking. Our party of 3 ordered the Ultimate Bertucci, and one order of Chicken Marsala for the non pizza eater. For their signature pizza, especially a brick oven specialty, I expected so much more. The toppings were sparse, like they took a medium or small, and spread them over a large crust. Speaking of crust which I normally eat the entire thing, blah. That's all I can say. The sausage, I mean all the different meats used, were bland. Cheese? What cheese? Now to the Chicken Marsala which I tasted. Come on guys...really? You use what I figure was canned brown gravy? She didn't eat the whole thing either. Usually I finish her plates, but one taste was enough. And this was listed under their 'Specialties' Menu. At least the chianti was good. Being from out of town, our friend recommended the place and went there with us and he said it was probably the best in town, so I didn't want to embarrass him by complaining. But I think next time I'll check YELP first.

Perhaps restaurants such as this one are best to be left unreviewed ... alas ... people of Central Square and Area Four need to know that having dinner at this Bertucci's can ruin your evening. Yes, they have those hot rolls that are usually tasty and you can dip your heart away in the accompanying olive oil. Yes, the pizza comes in individual size and there's a brick oven in the back. Yes, the restaurant is a chain and usually at chains, food tastes similarly from one venue to the next. But how many ways can one locale mess up your meal? Let me count the ways: 1. You order a carafe of house chianti and it takes not 1 but three tries to get the order correctly served .... 45 minutes after the order (but it does come before dinner). 2. You order appetizers which come AFTER the first dinner plate is served. 3. Your mis-ordered pizza is returned to the kitchen...a new one comes out and it's wrong, but you start eating it coz we've waited at least 30 minutes post wine carafe to eat ... and a THIRD pizza is delivered (slightly more correctly made - how do you mess up the margherita pizza?!) 4. Salad comes after dinner plate. 5. Even a sauceless calzone is wet. 6. Spaghetti is wet and school cafeteria-like 7. two and a half hours later... I'd like to mention that I went to Bertucci's with low expectations... but it's a friends' choice and the gals love American food. Plus, it's VERY close to Cuchi Cuchi (disappointing meal-Savior!). Not my first choice for out-of-towners.... for dinner... on a holiday week, but these things happen... like those low expectations can be torn from the threads of hope you had for a place and never be corrected. Bottom line... if you do go here... just order a family pizza, some soda, and get the heck out. The longer you stay, it seems the less likely you will be served in a reasonable amount of time. And the more the staff disappoint you, the even more less likely they'll attend to you (like bring you a bill so you can get the heck out). Enough complaining. Please don't judge Central-Kendall on piss poor service and quality food. Try anything else (maybe not Pu Pu Hot Pot)!

I've been going to various Bertucci's for over 20 years and I have overall had a bad experience at this restaurant. The Bertucci's in Alewife is worth the extra drive. My family has often found the pizzas here to be burnt, or the pasta to be watery/not well drained. But a few weeks ago we ordered a pizza for takeout. First of all, we were told over the phone that the our order would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant about 25 minutes later, and had to wait an additional 10 minuets for the pizza, turning the initial 15 minute wait into a 35 minute wait. When I got home, I noticed that the pizza barely had any cheese on it, more than half of the pizza was just bread. This was disappointing, so I called the Bertucci's to voice a complaint. The person who answered, who I believe was the manager, was very nice and offered to make me a new pizza or send me a gift certificate in the mail. I opted for the gift certificate, as it was late and I didn't want another pizza at this point. The manager took my address and said he would mail out the certificate the next day but I never received it. Pretty bad customer service to me.

Strolled into this place for a sunday easter brunch with the SO. The staff was minimal, service was OK, food was standard. The server was very helpful and the food came out to ordered. Overall a decent dining experience. I mean it's bertucci's its a chain, there isn't much to say.

This was probably the WORST restaurant experience ever! - Waitress said 10 words, at most, to us - Food was disgusting and cold - Took 10 minutes, at least, to get our beverages (she only had one other table) - Took 20 minutes to get our check - Took another 10 minutes to split our check Worst of all, though, was when we paid for cash she never brought back our change! I am dumbfounded that she was about to take over $50.00 from 3 people as a tip. When we asked for our change back she said "Oh, you actually *want* your change?!" (which was the most she said in one sentence). There's a reason why this restaurant is never packed... you're in Cambridge, go somewhere else, folks!

Careless service. Microwaved food. Challenging parking. If you love Bertucci's do not come here. It's like stepping in the land of lost children: except the children are you servers/cooks and all you want is an adult meal. This is not the Bertucci's I have always known and loved. Drink refills were forgotten, soup came out cold, appetizers tasted like a microwave meal, and the beans looked like someone picked them out of the trash and dipped them in movie theater butter. I have alway loved Bertucci's for the faux but passable Italian brick oven feel/ambiance. None of that exists in this land. The lost children have taken over. And they left with all the things you go to a restaurant for: food, service, and value. Grow up. Stay away from this place.

As one of the first restaurants in the Boston/Cambridge area that I have visited several times, it's a good one to start my reviews off. The draw to this restaurant is definitely the bread. They are fresh and warm from the oven, and the wait staff is not stingy about giving you as many as you'd like. In fact, they have let me take a paper bag full home free of charge. Definitely a ++ in my books. As for the food... Their pizzas are, for the price, above average. The Bertucci's Deluxe, especially, is basically four pizzas in one (separated into quarters). Pretty good for someone who likes to taste around. They are also open to half-and-halves, which is always nice. As for their pasta... it's really rather unremarkable. The pasta and the sauces are both pretty bland. For the price, I would not recommend it (this is where it lost the star). For the service, I am probably a little biased. In the few times I've been there, I have been served by the same waitress. She is a beautiful, black lady (just objective truth here). She has this melodious, deep voice that one might expect to hear voicing a fiction audio book. She's also lots of fun and very obliging. One of the times I went it was for a friend's birthday, and she made sure he had fun, gave him VIP treatment, and, of course, free dessert :) All in all, I would recommend this place for a casual night. Definitely not the atmosphere for a date night, but, if you just want some simple Italian food and great bread, this is the place to go.

I really wish I could give this Bertucci's a better review. I came here for lunch with a friend and ordered the bottomless soup and salad. Before I could even tell the waitress which soup and salad I wanted, she walked away. Then I had to wait another 10 minutes for her to realize that she needed to know my preferences. When she finally brought us the food, she forgot to check on us and see how we were doing. I wanted more salad but I couldn't find her to get more. It was really frustrating! At the end of the meal she forgot to come and take the credit card from us and it literally took us 20 minutes to pay. I know I shouldn't rate a restaurant off of one waitress, but the whole experience was so long and frustrating that I really will not come here again.

More than "I've experienced better" - I think I was expecting/hoping for better. Staying around the corner for a conference and after a long day, just wanted decent but quick food for 4 starving stomachs. The service was slow (15 minutes to get water out) and the food was very mediocre (bread, pizza, pasta, dessert). The flavors on the pizza just weren't balanced right (with garlic and sage overpowering the sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella).

The food was good! But, the waitstaff experience overshadowed the meal. They simply weren't interested in giving us any service. The host gave us menus, but we never really got a waitstaff person to take our order. Once I flagged a waitress to our table she took our order, but never gave us utensils, table bread, or our drinks. Seemed every time we needed something we had to find a waitstaff person to help us. It felt like we were bothering someone every time we wanted to get any service. I wouldn't normally be so critical, but this is the second time I had experience like this at this Bertucci location.

Now I know why I don't go here despite it being near work. We were seated by a rather ornery and pissed off acting hostess, who was very put off by the fact that we walked through the door. I don't know if she purposely put us out of the eye of servers, but after about 10 minutes of sitting there, we still were not served. I really think it was a case of fat on fat hate or chunky girl envy... I don't know what her problem was, but she was nice to every other group of people who walked in, but not to the two chunky girls who are dressed nicely looking for a quick lunch. We seriously watched other people who walked in after us get seated and begin to order, and we still had yet to even order drinks. What I noticed while we were waiting: my menu pages stuck together. Gross. I'm really hoping that it was just food and not that some chunky guy took them out back and had a good time with the pizza pictures. My table was disgustingly dirty. Double gross. The hostess also didn't remove the unused silverware from any table she was at, so I'm assuming that if it's not used, it's likely just sitting out there and waiting for the next party. I'm now worried I'll have a case of giardia. Finally someone took pity on us and asked if we had been helped. She took our drink orders and then tried to figure out who was supposed to be waiting on us and just ended up doing it herself. Thankfully she decided to come over because we'd likely still be sitting there. Actually, no... I was ready to leave right as she walked up to our table. Good save. Everything from there on out took forever, but I can't blame the server who added us to her list of people she was helping. The food was good and typical Bertucci's. Bread and salad with the caloric intake of a Snicker's bar and pizza with some delightful toppings. Towards the end of the meal we were literally trying to flag down people to track down our bill. No dice then on finding anyone until we managed to catch one guy's eye and he found our server for us. Seriously took us about 10 minutes because it was like server exodus in the dining area. A meal that should have taken only 30 minutes took over an hour. The only time I'm EVER in a rush to eat is when I'm at lunch during work. I felt a little bad leaving a dollar tip because the girl who did serve us helped as best she could (and was clearly overworked), but we really were going to leave without putting down a tip at all. This was our compromise. It kind of bothered me that as we were leaving, the hostess grunted at us as we left. Was this Wookiee for goodbye? I know I am a scientist and work in the nerdiest square mile in America, but I didn't even see that movie until I was trying to impress a guy in 2005; I definitely don't speak the language. Just an awful all-around experience.

I found a hair or what looks like a pubic hair in a bread roll... This bertuccis does not represent well. I've been to others that are much more professional, this was a few steps down. Check out the picture I posted of the bread roll and decide for yourself what it is pubic hair or regular hair

I went here on a Friday night with about 15 hungry runners. I was happy with our ability to sit, though pressed together, at one table, given the place was totally crowded. Little did I know that turned out to be the most imPRESSive part of the meal. (see what I did there?) I was told by a local and read on Yelp to get the pizza. I had the Stella pizza, which was advertised as having eggplant and mushrooms on it. Maybe they were running out of eggplant or couldn't tell the difference (both are brown), because I had about 80% mushrooms, 20% eggplant. Oh well, it tasted alright. Now, getting worse...I'm not sure what part of chicken broth with some chunks of garlic spells "white wine sauce" for whoever made the chicken/broccoli/rigatoni dish that 75% of the table had. Fortunately, it was somewhat salvageable with a bunch of grated cheese and salt. I actually think pasta water would've made a more flavorful sauce. I will certainly seek better options next time I need cheap Italian for a large group!

This is a very standard Bertucci's, and Bertucci's is always dependable for delicious rolls and tasty but not terribly exciting pizza and pasta. I came here with a group of 11 last night and they did an excellent job of accommodating us. They had the table ready 20 minutes before the reservation, so those of us who showed up early were able to sit down and start munching on rolls, which really nice. The service was prompt and very friendly, although they kept trying to plug a bottle of wine they were selling in honor of v-day. They also had our entire party in and out in just over an hour, which is pretty impressive. Pizzas and pastas are standard chain Italian fare - tasty and filling but not anything to write home about. At about $10-$15 an entree on average, its hard to complain though. The best thing Bertucci's has going for them food-wise is of course their famous rolls, served warm right out of the oven with olive oil. Mmmm.

  • Lisa I.

Don't be fooled by the fact that it's a chain. Bertucci's is still some of the best pizza around. They still cook all their pizzas in a brick oven, which gives them a unique smoky taste. YUM! It's not deep-dish, nor is it thin crust, but it is SO good. After YEARS, they finally put Chicken Domani back on the menu. It's my favorite pasta dish of theirs - gemelli with chicken & spinach in a light white wine sauce. So yummy. Get it while it lasts because they do tend to take dishes off their menu. Lastly, the ROLLS. If you're getting takeout, make sure you ask for LOTS of these, because they're so good and everyone will gobble them up.

There's nothing terrible about this place, but it suffers from several things: 1. Prices definitely not worth the quality of food and service. Depending on what you order, you can get a less expensive dinner from Eastern Standard across the street, which has incomparably better food and service. Sure, the pasta portions are huge, but few of us really need 1200 calories of straight carbs in one sitting- and it's not even worth the price if you use leftovers the next day. 2. Service is moderately slow. I've never seen it be awful, but the few times I come I end up spending more time here than I really want because I can't get the waiter when I need him/her. 3. Food is really just meh. The spaghetti and rolls are good, but nothing really ever stands out as delicious. You can get much better Italian in this city.

Great value but service could be better... This is a 3.5 star place where the menu has steadily improved over the years but the service hasn't. I'm not sure what's up with the management, but it seems like all the waiters are new every time I come. Does anyone else feel this way??? During my years at MIT Sloan, there was always a lot of free Bertucci on campus, but it was always the same stuff, a boring 1 topping pizza or cheese and BAGS of rolls, so many that there would be leftovers the next day that had hardened up and gone stale. After I graduated, I started coming here for lunch and dinner and it's always been a go-to when I'm craving something in between the North End and going to a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint. Lunch is a great deal because they give you unlimited salad as well as rolls. The rolls are always hot and freshly baked and it comes with seasoned olive oil. Also, I love how they have black pepper AND salt grinders on the table. Freshly cracked pepper and salt really make it for me. Some of my favs here are the Silano (chicken & broccoli w/ lemon wedges), Pizza Verde (Arugula & Proscuitto w/ balsamic nectar), Ultimate Bertucci (Pizza divided in 4 with 4 different toppings), Rigatoni Abruzzi, and Roasted Tuscan Veggies.

Alas, I remember going to the original Betrucci's Pizza and Bocce in Davis Square. Was outstanding!. Now however, quality has gone down and prices have gone up. Yes the rolls are fantastic, but that's about it. Poor waitstaff, diminishing portion sizes, and inconsistent quality - all indicators this (now chain) is better left a memory.

Arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night and there were only 2 or 3 tables filled. Ghost town - should have taken it as a sign. And although it was empty, we had some really slow service. Waitress brought over the dipping sauce for the rolls but never the rolls. Had to ask, and she seemed surprised that we wanted some. Seemed like she didn't have any intentions of bringing them unless we asked (then why the dipping sauce, I wonder??) There were four of us - one of the orders came out wrong. When we asked to send it back, waitress said "oh sorry, I told the kitchen you were substituting shrimp but they don't listen" Um, okay. Two of the dishes were swimming - and I mean really doused - in sauce. Made the pastas extremely soggy. When time to take home these wet dishes, waitress put them in flimsy square-sized stirofoam containers. Mine was filled to the brim with sauce...it would never had made it home in tact. When I asked for a better container, she looked it me like I was a pain. Overall it was a really frustrating experience to pay for some poorly prepared food - clearly no one there cares.

The service we received from our waitress at this location was STELLAR and earned all the stars. You cannot beat the rolls. I tried the Tuscan Chicken Rollino, which was chicken and spinach with avocado in a flatbread. It was okay, but I should have known it wouldn't be up to Bertucci's standards as it is not really Italian. For dessert, we had the apple cranberry crostata, which did not look promising (a little too beige), was very tasty. Could maybe have used a touch of something creamy (whipped cream, ice cream, something). Clean and quiet location. Much better option than the tiny Harvard Square location if you can schlep down to Central Square.

Bottom line is this: The food is this place's saving grace. Yes, it's pricey, but it's quite delicious. But my two star rating had little to do with the food and a LOT to do with the SERVICE. Yes, it's true. People do value good and friendly service in restaurants. It's really not just about the convenience of not having to cook. The abysmal service is championed by this restaurant's obese hostess. Whether it's the obesity that puts her in a perpetually bad mood or just her lot in life, I honestly don't know, but I've gone here at least seven times (like I said, their food is their saving grace) and I've felt miserable all of those times to the point now where I DREAD having to face her. A typical host MIGHT say something along the lines of, "Hi, welcome to Bertucci's" and she or he will ask how many are in the party. Not this one. She just stares at you with this miserable look on her face to the point where I've actually had to ask, "Are you guys open?" Only then will it dawn on her to grab the menus and just walk away. I just stood there and she looked back incredulously after having walked fifteen or so feet away from me. I was like, "You didn't say a word. How was I supposed to know to follow you?" The waitstaff wasn't horrible, but in truth, they were only about a couple of degrees above the hostess in the warmth department. Seriously, how do these people have jobs? Is the pay THAT bad down there that everybody in Bertucci's has to walk around with a frozen scowl on their faces? Hell, the only time the waiter gave me any kind of attention was shortly after he delivered my bill. I haven't been back in months and doubt I'll be going back anytime soon. I'm just really tired of going to a restaurant feeling as unwelcome as I do when I go there. My two cents.

I had a memorable dining experience here. I usually come here with the team now and then, but yesterday was different. I ordered a pepperoni and green pepper pizza that was seriously one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. There was something ineffable about the crust; hearty and floury with a tangible flavor. It all went down so smoothly; it really hit the spot. The tiramisu I had afterwards was a nice complement; it made me even happier. Food happiness is one of the best kinds of happy. Service was slow at times, especially as we were dying for their delicious rolls, but our waiter was very courteous. We could have left earlier if they had been faster. But still, the pizza was so good. You have to try it (I'd recommend the individual size and eating in as opposed to take-out.) Their specialty pizzas look amazing. I have also tried their pasta and meatball. Meatball tastes great! Kind of wish they had a larger entree with sausage (only some entrees have sausage as a side feature.) Desserts were well-received by my friends.

There really needs to be some pictures up for their food... Solid pizza and salads. Pretty cheap from what I remembered.

Extremely Disappointed. My date had asked what I was craving for dinner on a Saturday evening, and I really wanted Italian food. He suggested Bertucci's and off we went. We were seated immediately and eagerly searched the menu for what we wanted to order. Well... 10 minutes passed and our server was nowhere in sight. He finally came and we ordered our drinks and dinners ... no big deal, but already impatient with the service. I had ordered the Chicken Parma and asked for penne instead of spaghetti ... a personal preference. We got our drinks and chatted over the delicious bread. (always good). Our salads were forgotten. My Chicken Parma was overcooked and hard to cut -- the breading just fell off and I had overcooked chicken over a bed of SPAGHETTI. No one showed up for about 10 minutes, so at that point I wasn't going to send it back. Our server walked by a few times but ignored and us never asked if I wanted another glass of wine. (I am not one to flag a server down). At the end of the meal, he didn't try to give us the dessert menu, it was basically an afterthought .... clearly unmotivated to care for his clients or make the most tip he can. I should've gotten a pizza. I won't be going there again.

This is my friends and my typical meet up spot when people are around and in town. The restaurant seated a group of 11 comfortably and the service was attentive and friendly. Be careful about going around Valentine's day though...they will totally try to sell you their $19.99 cabernet sauvignon. Still a solid eatery. Will continue to go here with friends. :-)

Woo hoo! This was my go-to place for takeout and pizza dining throughout college and even afterwards when I happened to be in the Boston/Cambridge area. The hot rolls they serve with salads are enough to fill you even before your mains / entrees / pizza arrive. You can ask for more and they'll give those rolls to you on the go. Food is copious (perfect for students) and pizzas are decent. I have usually ordered pizza with seafood or shrimp toppings. Service has almost always been pleasant and the ambiance is super casual. Since Bertucci's is known for their "brick oven pizza", I've always stuck to its flagship dish after deviating once, only to have discovered that I'm better off not ordering their non-pizza items. One thing I should note is that the quality of food seems to have slowly deteriorated over the years. I'll be conservative and stick to 3 stars.

My co-workers and I order out all the time. Most of the time we order from this Bertucci's, it's the longest wait ever. we waited 2hrs once for a deliver! Normally, we normally eat around 12, so we have to order it around 11 and it'll be get around 12:00pm. So much planning! The only reason why iorder from here because my co-workers love this place.

This place is so bizarre. My agency orders from this place almost every month and yet every time they pick up the phone, they act like they have no idea how to work their own computers or take orders. I recognize their voices, I know it's the same people on the other line, but I feel like every time I order, they come up with a new rule that didn't exist before. Last time it was that I had to have a $100 minimum per order for corporate deliveries, and the time before that was that I could not create my own pasta dish...even thought we have been doing it for the past 3-4 years. Mind you, always the same person who picks up... And then when the orders arrive (even after they repeat the order to me over the phone), all of the dishes are wrong... They're nice people, don't get me wrong. But I just don't understand why they can't get their act straight. I have been in there personally as well and they are not a busy place in-house. I mean, I just don't get it. I really REALLY want to understand why they suddenly get amnesia every time they answer their phones. I would just like ONCE for them to make ordering from them quick and painless and to not get asked by my boss why every order we made was incorrect....

Hrmm. I've somehow managed to avoid Bertucci's since moving out here despite the random rabid fans insisting I MUST try them out. So anyhow, I ended up here for a little din. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. That seems to be the problem/benefit of most chains. You know you're not likely to hate what you've received but you likely won't remember it either. Service was awkward but mostly competent. The server tended to reach right in front of people which I don't care for. Don't get me wrong, I can give two shakes if I'm served from the left or right but if I'm watching to make sure your shirt doesn't dip in to my marinara you might need a bit more training. I had the four cheese ravioli and it was not too bad. Not too good but...you get it. I did like that they didn't drown the pasta in sauce. Good job there. The real stand out from the meal was the rolls. I get it, they're really good. Maybe I had three. Maybe. In the end I think the rolls may have earned a whole star on their own. Would I go back? Sure. I have a feeling I'll need a roll fix.

It's a Bertucci's with the world's most brain-dead waitstaff. What is it with this place? Read the reviews, and you can see it's not only me. Every single waiter we've had here (and it's been a different person each time) either takes FOREVER to take your order, deliver your order, bring you your check, or give you change or your credit card receipt or all combinations of those. Who trains these people - how can every single one turn out to be so friggin pokey?? For an area that's dying for more lunch time options, they seem to operate on a model to discourage as many patrons who actually need to return to work at a reasonable hour. If you have a serious craving for their roles or for their specialty pizzas, do yourself a favor and visit one of their other stores. Other than that, plan to spend 2 hours here for chain food.

Ordered from Bertucci's Kendall tonight from my job. Never been so disappointed. They took almost 2 hours. The food came and it was cold, and had items missing. They did come back but that was someones dinner they had to wait another 40 minutes. The staff was very nice, maybe they were just overwhelmed on this particular Wednesday. I was hoping the food would be better considering the price and the wait... this isn't the first time I had a bad experience with Bertucci's.

I love Bertucci's pizza, their sangria, and their rolls. All three were great at this location. I am not fond of this particular location, however, because of the service. Don't get me wrong, no one was rude, but it seemed a little off. Also, when I went up to the take-out guy to ask if he could break two twenties so that we could pay our bill, he immediately got all defensive about how he didn't if know he had change, etc. Again, he wasn't rude, but it was a little off-putting. This is not the first Bertucci's location I would choose, but if you are in Central Square/MIT-land and Bertucci's is what you want, then it's fine.

  • Jonathan D.

I would normally think of a Bertucci's as a 3-star sort of place... Somewhere that you could go in a pinch and get some half-decent food from a fairly predictable menu. There is something however about this particular one that absolutely fails. I have had to give up going here after multiple instances of wait staff that forget about you and your food order that sits on the counter getting cold before it makes it to your table. We have had been served pizzas where the dough in the middle is raw (no, not soggy, raw). The final blow was one day when it was just too hot to cook, and for some reason we were compelled to give it a last chance. We were seated, placed our order and got our drinks. Once we had settled in I noticed that it was quite warm in there. It ends up that their AC was broken, but I guess they couldn't be bothered to tell us when we came in. I can only guess that whoever runs this location just doesn't give a damn and that their attitude is reflected in the people who stay around to work there.

  • Alena D.

Oh the rolls. Unfortunately after too many people abused their hospitality, Bertucci's only serves rolls after you order an entree now. That sucks. So this is what I do sometimes when the craving becomes too much. Order a pizza, any kind. Don't order anything else. The food here is crap. The pasta is disgusting, nothing else off the menu is worth ingesting. So order a pizza. When the waiter asks if you would like some rolls, indulge. Eat as many as you like. Ask for refills over and over and over again. When your sated, ask for the pizza to go, tomorrow you'll have decent leftovers. I'm not sure how they bake these, but the rolls are worth ordering food from Bertucci's. Otherwise, they would have nothing going for them.

I used to be a big Bertucci's fan. Decent Italian food for a chain restaurant. However, the quality at this location has gone way downhill. It took almost 10 minutes before anyone even came over to our table. We didn't even know who our server was. When the food finally came, the quality was mediocre at best. My dish seemed like something I would make at home by dropping frozen ravioli into a pot and later adding some bland marinara sauce. They forgot to bring our salads out and messed up more than a couple of our orders. I'm not sure what happened here. I won't be coming back any time soon.

I suppose before I begin that I'm going to have to explain my rating - 3 stars for this? Well, I have nothing but good things to say about this place, but after reading all of the reviews I realize that most of them reflect not the absolute quality of the restaurant but only this specific instance of Bertucci's the chain. In conclusion the grain of salt with today's review is: I am a student, not so well traveled in Boston but with an eye out for something worth eating, and am rating this place based on the other Italian food I've eaten before. So Bertucci's at MIT? I've certainly been to better ones - this one is located in a sketchy corner in sketchy Cambridge and has a subway running underneath it, so you'll occasionally have that feeling of a train passing underneath that I usually associate with Manhattan - but the inside of this restaurant is still cozy. Admittedly, they could do a better job of making it more lively, but with the restaurant crowded (usually it is, whenever I come) there's no shortage of life. There's no need to comment on the food - the rolls, pizza, pasta and friends are exactly to the Bertucci's standard. Yes, I know Bertucci's is fake Italian food, but it's good fake Italian food. Also, this particular restaurant is great for large groups of people. They're pretty much used to it - I remember seeing three different MIT sports teams there at the same time. I guess in the end I'd have to say if you're looking for student food, you certainly won't find better.

I've been to several different Bertucci's, and my experience has usually been pleasant. This was not the case when I ate here. The service was marginal at best. Our waitress was new, so I have to give her the benefit of the doubt, but still... let's just say I've had more professional service from the peanut vendors at Fenway. I ordered the Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo w/ asparagus-- and received a pile of noodles with some undercooked white meat and unidentifiable brown vegetables on top, doused in water sauce. What is it that keeps me from giving this place one star? The rolls. They were orgasmic, as usual.

  • Trish F.

Friend 'o' Trish: Uh.. my chicken isn't cooked. Waiter: Yes. Friend 'o' Trish: See.. the inside.. it's pink. Waiter: Soo... you want another one? I know you're a chain Bertucci's.. but c'mon now. You can't properly microwave the chicken for your heavily advertised chicken marsala? I had a spinach salad with grilled chicken and it was like the onion monster attacked it. Even after removing the.. oh.. 4 or 5 onions that were maimed to make my salad.. the onion taste dominated the spinach and I couldn't handle it. They got good rolls though... when you do take out ask for extra. Say you're serving a ton of people. See. End on a happy note.

Although their other dishes aren't the best, they've got the best pizza in this area, hands down. Unlike other shops around here, the cheese is high quality, has a nice texture/flavor, and the dough is fit for a delicious pizza - not too doughy, not too sugary.

    (5)
  • Fred H.

Tasty thin-crust, fire oven pizzas. It's only a block or too from the T-stop. We went there for lunch. The prices seemed a little high (about $10 for a personal pizza and $20 for a large pizza), but our waitress mentioned they were doing $10 for a 1-topping large so that made the total price more reasonable. We ordered a large pepperoni for the kids and an individual specialty pizza for us parents. That was just enough to fill up everyone (with an extra slice or two remaining) for an afternoon of exploring and fun.

  • Chris Y.

Marginal at best. Service: Amateur, chaotic, clueless Food: Generic, mass-produced, tastes microwaved, bland, boring, etc. Not terrible, and cheap, but c'mon, when there's so many good places close by, why would you choose Bertucci's? I cringe whenever I hear the well-rehearsed "Hi guys, my name is _____, and I'll be taking care of you this evening" shpiel. On the plus side, the bread service is good, but their ciabatta had no crust to it... Popular with large groups from the surrounding biotech companies. Please, go to Cuchi-Cuchi instead, and join me in my boycott of bad chain restaurants.

Hated the Lobster Ravioli. Liked the Rasberry Iced Tea + free refills. Service was witty and smooth. Food came out quick. I'd go again with a big group because I would be in a big group and would not want to wait forever for a table or be obnoxious with a big group because big groups do that a lot of times. They will like us here. Yes I am Miss Cleo so I know this. Wanted to like but did not. Boo.

I like Bertuccis pretty much where ever I am, although I'm not big on chain restaurants, here is an exception. I like the Chicken Ceasar Salad, Margarita pizza, and dessert trio. The Espresso Martini and Appletinis are alright, not worth the money, but good enough. It's a fairly busy location, and it's good for getting the whole family together and eating out - although if you are not the big group there, it sometimes takes a while for you to get served. Also, I hope and pray that you don't get the one old guy waiter, VERY very nice guy, just REALLY really slow.

  • Emily M.

The service is always brainscattered and takes forever. I do usually go with a large group of people, which I'm sure is part of the problem, but you'd think the place would be able to handle groups. Their lunch specials are a bad deal, for the most part. Their rolls are addictively good and their pizza's are tasty. Ordering was a bit like when you go through the McDonalds drive thru and check your bag right when you get it to make sure it's all there and the order's not messed up. My friends ordered a large pizza to split and somehow the waiter thought they ordered a personal pizza to split. The most recent time I was there the manager wanted to see an additional ID from me because I have an out of state license. This is something I've experienced before at the bars and clubs downtown, but not at Bertucci's on main street.

My friends and I dragged ourselves off the couch on a lazy Sunday evening for some good old Italian fare. We eschewed several local standbys for the comfort of our favorite chain. Why venture the half mile to Basta Pasta when you can have warm, mass-produced rolls at your fingertips? We were greeted by a confused young male who seemed to be unable to navigate his seating cart. He consulted his manager a couple times before seating us in a dark booth beside what looked like MIT freshman dorm night. We squinted at and pondered our menus before starting things off with some jazzed-up mozzarella sticks, and an assortment of house and caesar salads. The mozz sticks and the caesar salads were downright delectable but my friend's house salad was way iceberged out. My dining companion and I ordered a large pizza with fire-roasted red peppers, artichokes, and eggplant. Our server, Fleurian, waltzed the pie out proudly and said our pizza looked so delectable that he was tempted to sit right down next to us. The pie did not disappointed; the crust was cooked to perfection and the veggies were roasted evenly. My other dining companion ordered a side of rigatoni with red sauce for her entree and, much to our dismay, the pasta was cold! It tasted as if it had been sitting out for over ten minutes. But, polite diners that we are, we sucked it up and let Fleurian go about his Sunday night business. I'd return, though, to chow down on some of that top-notch pizza and to be seduced by Fleurian's dreamy smile.

Bleah ! Took a friend there, visiting from Florida last weekend. The delicious food of yesteryear is gone, replaced by bland, pasty crud, the decor is 30 years old and looks every bit of it (think: HoJo's, mid '70's) and the service took FOREVER. There's something disquieting about being kept waiting for 56 minutes after you've finished your meal, before the waitress is finally near enough for you to be able to flag her down. I wanted to leave her a tip of 56 cents. My softhearted friend was more generous than I would have been under the circumstances.

No Matter where we travel, we always look for a Bertucci's. With 30 Pages worth of Food Allergies, I will be forever grateful for their Gluten Free Menu. They will also take out, or adjust anything that you can not eat. It is very Food Allergy Friendly, and all meals can be modified. Bless their heart. It is hard to find a restaurant that I can eat at. It is delicious food, hot, and fresh. We are regulars in almost every state we visit.

I am not particularly bowled over by Bertucci's food, but when in a pinch to get something for dinner, their Margherita pizza is always a great standard. This location in particular gets a 4 star rating though for their great service. I recently ordered a pizza from this location for take out completely forgetting that earlier that day it had been MIT's graduation. When I arrived to pick up my pizza, the restaurant was absolutely packed and the hostess could not find my order anywhere. To make up for the mishap, they sent me off with a free pizza of my choice and freshly backed rolls. Thank you Bertucci's! Now that is service!!

Oddly enough, it's not bad. The atmosphere seriously needs help (it kinda feels like a pizza hut in there...), but the pizza is pretty good - and I've tried about 8 different ones. And the rolls are REALLY good when they are fresh and warm. But the atmosphere.... eh. I'll bring my grandma there or order out.

I love this place. Granted it is a chain restaurant, it still has some of the friendliest people that work there. The bred is really good and it is a great deal for lunch as the lunch menu includes bread and a salad of your choice. They also offer a rewards card that gives you points toward a free meal in the there that my friends and I use regularly. Definitely hit this one up!

I've visited this Bertucci's a few times this summer. The first was great (see my previous review). The second wasn't quite as good, but it was busy and not a big enough difference to warrant updating my review. Tonight was absolutely terrible. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I arrived around 8:30. I had spent a minute or two looking over my menu when my server, Edson, stopped by to introduce himself and drop off the dipping oil for the rolls. I placed my drink order and told him I'd need a few more minutes to decide on my order. He brings the rolls out, I place my order, a few minutes later my soda comes out; everything seems to be going well. I eat a roll and run out of soda. I slide it to the edge of the table. Eating slowly, I start in on another roll and eventually catch him as he's passing by and ask for a refill. A few minutes pass and I'm still sitting there with an empty glass, but he's no where to be seen. Eventually, he walks by again and I remind him about the refill. He apologizes for the delay and grabs it. About ten minutes after I placed my order, my salad come out. I start in. A half dozen bites later (around a quarter of the way through the salad), the main course comes out. I finish my salad and second soda, slide both to the edge of the table, and start in on my main course. I keep an eye out for my server, but he doesn't stop to refill my glass or to check on things. After two glasses, I wasn't very thirsty, but it was a bit annoying. At around 9:00, I finish about two thirds of my main course and am full. I slide it to the middle of the table, and start looking for my server. I can't remember exactly what he was doing, but it was far enough away that I couldn't wave him over, so I take my napkin from my lap and set it where my plate was, assuming that would signal that I was done eating. Ten minutes pass, and one of the other waiters stops to ask if I'd like him to get my server for me. Edson finally stops by (at 9:11) and I ask for the remaining third to go with a couple of rolls. A few minutes later, he drops off a bag with the leftovers. A few minutes after that he stops by to apologize for the wair on the check, citing computer issues. A few minutes after that, he drops off the check. I read the check, notice there's a mistake (the pasta dishes come with a half insulata for $2.99, the bill had the full $4.99 price), and try to get his attention. I don't get his attention, but one of the waitresses notices and tells me she'll get him for me. He stops by, and I point out the error, which he tries to explain away. I ask to see a menu, point to the price, and he says he'll have to talk to his manager. While he's gone, I notice that the to-go bag didn't have the rolls I asked for. When he gets back with the corrected check, I remind him about the rolls, which he apologizes for forgetting. He disappears, a few minutes pass, he reappears, walks by the table, does a double take, says "Oh! The rolls!", and goes to get them. When he delivers the rolls, I hand back the bill with a credit card and ask to see a manger. 9:45. A few minutes pass, and a nice lady shows up (she introduced herself and told me her title, both of which I couldn't quite make out) and asks me what my issue was. I explain a subset of the above (the refill issues, the poor timing, and the fact that it has been half an hour since I asked for the bill), and she offers to give me some sort of discount (which turned out to be 30% off). I sign the receipt, and head for the door. My server sees me heading out, and holds the door for me. It's nice that they tried to make up for it in the end (with the discount and by holding the door), but I don't think I'll be going back - they aren't my stories to tell, and I don't have all of the details, but based on the number of apologies I was overhearing the server make, it didn't sound like the parties on either side of me were having a much better experience. Food: 3/5 Service: 0/5

It's a Bertucci's okay? You're not going to get swept into the spirit of the old country or remember it as one of your epic meals. But if you're willing to spend thirty bucks on a pizza you can have them toss a half dozen toppings on and order it with rolls and oil (their pizza dough rolls are sweet) and you'll be happy. Order the pie well done.

I love bertucci's. This location is big with the MIT crowd as the location is ideal for lazy college students. I love their pizzas - especially the simple margherita pizza. The salad and fresh hot rolls (free with lunch orders I believe, and $2 extra for the salad with dinner orders) - the rolls are free of course - make the meal even more amazing.

This is a good place for lunch in the Kendal Square area, it's a bit difficult if you get there right at noon, though. It can be crowded, but the food is decent, and they give you free rolls to go if you ask for them. According to the "I'm speaking very quietly because I'm about to have a complete mental breakdown" waiter we had, this is a tradition they've had since the 1600s. Which is odd, because Bertucci's was started in 1981. But, A for effort, you know?

It's a bit pricey especially for a college student, however the service was exquisite. I went there with friends late one evening and the place was empty, Bad for them good for us, with 5 min of ordering a fresh pizza was set before of sniveling snouts which we then devoured relentlessly. The waiter was fun and very friendly and in the end gave us a huge bag of bertucci's rolls. Loses a star for price and that's about it.

This place used to have bacci ball. Now they don't. I miss bacci ball. The one in David had it too. Now I don't even think the one in Davis is there anymore. The one in Harvard has no character at all, and there is a move em in move em out cattle style kind of feel there too. If you like eating in a parking garage you'll love the one in Fresh Pond. Bertucci's is a nice place don't get me wrong...they all are. But they have gone super corporate and I really think the quality went downhill when they did. Used to be great, now its just run of the mill.

I love itallian food so this just fills my stomach in all the right places. I would recommend asking for some bolognese, its not on the menu but they make it for you and its absolutely amazing. The garlic bread and salad as an appetizer though come is such a large portion that its almost impossible to finish the main course.

My friend was in town from NYC and we were craving that fresh made pizza with herbs and spices (none of that 2am-the-bars-are-closed-pizza) so we hit up Bertucci's and it hit the spot. Good service, nice place. Great pizza.

Very reliable brick oven pizza. Nice location just outside of Central Square. My favorite is the bread and the melenzzana pizza. Yum.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
