Great location- never too busy but always busy enough. The folks here are nice and fast with your order. I've never tried baked goods from Peet's but they also look great (actually quite better than Starbucks, though I prefer Starbucks for beverages and in general). p.s. I JUST saw the Yelp pic advertising their "dirty chai latte" which has a shot of espresso- wow, that sounds interesting and amazing!

Nothing beats Peet's iced tea! Do yourself a favor in these last days of summer and come here for some refreshing beverages! I think it's hard to find cafes with good iced tea choices, even the smaller cafes - they are always disappointing, especially in their herbal selections. What I like is that Peet's has fantastic taste in their menu! Both options are sweetened, but not overly sweet: -Hibiscus Breeze Tea Cooler -Jasmine Lime Tea Cooler I usually have a hard time deciding between the two! If you're looking for unsweetened, they'll brew whatever flavor you choose (it takes 5 minutes though). I'm also a huge fan of their iced mochas - smooth, creamy, and heavenly. Service is typically friendly and fast. Not much seating here, but I will always choose Peet's over Starbucks.

If not for the Peet's Coffee sign on the door I would have thought I walked into a Starbucks. Similar furniture, drinks, and lack of space just like Starbucks. I came here on a late Sunday morning and got a regular coffee. The coffee was decent and the service was quick. Very few places to sit. I would come here again if the Starbucks nearby was too crowded.

Worst Peet's ever. First they refused to put honey in our matcha because it would "ruin their blender" every single other Peet's had no problem blending in the honey no matter what I told them, they said "no" I did this in many Peet's in California, Oregon, and even other Peet's here in Boston. If we put it in ourselves, it won't blend because of the ice. They're not friendly by any means, the staff members that day were just not meant to work in something like this. The girl at the cashier was asking me "where are u from?" In which I replied "California" she said "no, I heard you speak in Arabic, my dad is Arabic." She was saying this with the worst attitude because she heard my sister complain in Arabic. She kept rolling her eyes, too. The man and curly haired woman who make drinks also were extremely rude and giving us attitude. Very unprofessional. We were friendly the whole time. They also gave us the wrong size. We didn't want to complain about that, because we didn't want to cause a problem because they were just so rude to us. We now always go to the other Peet's in Brookline. So much better! I would recommend them! This was around 2 or 3 on September 13. Never going back to that Peet's again!

I really like Peet's Coffee!! I like it better than Starbucks. The reason I give this location 3 stars is because of the terrible and old condition of the shop itself. If I am spending 5 dollars on my coffee then your shop should be clean and updated. This place has been around forever and they do not get cheaper so I do think they owe it to the neighborhood to update it and put more plugs around the place for people who have computers. It is really embarrassing in comparison to how Starbucks looks. The coffee itself is always good and the staff is mostly friendly and nice. So in the end if you care about the ambiance than this is def not a hit but if you want good coffee I recommend Peet's Coffee.

Sweet, sweet Peet's Coffee and Tea. I went to you first! I used to live in Coolidge Corner and returned for a meeting. I thought Peets would be nice - I prefer it to Starbucks if I'm going corporate and it's spacious. I was very very very disappointed - like disappointed enough that I moved to the Starbucks next door. I must preface my grievances with the staff rating. They were great! This review goes directly towards the owner/management/etc. - Walls: it's literally falling apart. Paint chipping and staining, it looks like the place had a flood. I also wonder when it was they last did a deep clean. I know counter tops and floors are usually what you clean, but a dirty wall is unsightly and unsanitary. - Bugs: Fruit flies everywhere. I killed at least 10 and overheard a woman return her drink because a bug was in it. It makes you question where they're coming from - what you're not seeing... - Trash: I was there early, before 10am, and the trashes were all full. This one does fall on staff - empty that trash!! - Music: I asked the staff if the played music. They said YES! we must have forgotten. A few minutes later the speakers crackled and that was it. Fix your system! - Wifi: TERRIBLE. I couldn't load yelp to write this review! Free isn't always great when it doesn't actually work... Basically Peets, you need to get it together. It's time for a facelift, because the place is - I'm sorry to say - a DUMP!

Every morning I begin my day with a small dark roast, double-cupped. The coffee is always fresh, and the "Peets Family" is expert at refined morning chit chat. The shop is meticulously maintained, with a beautiful pastry case. For those who enjoy the barista beverages, Paul and the team turn out cappuccinos with great flair. It is a great way to begin your day!

Tried out this place since I hear they have good coffee. Service was slow and indifferent. Perhaps I'm used to cheerful baristas, especially from your neighbourhood coffee place. The upholstery on the chairs are in dire need of upgrading and the tables are not clean. Coffee was ok and pastry was normal.

Friendliest barista in Jason who is super knowledgeable on not just the brewed coffees and beans they serve but also on the various brewing devices they sell!! Am making a point to stop here and grab a cup of amazing Peets coffee every time I'm in the area. Am definitely a fan!!

Oh, Peets. You are simply delightful and I wish you had seating available more often. You help me hone my predatory table-hunting skills, but sometimes I just want to walk in, order my chai tea, and sit down without worry. You really emphasize that most good things are worth the wait. I always get a lot of work done at Peets, and it's also a nice place to meet up and catch up with a friend. The staff is really friendly - and oh gosh, their chai tea is wonderful!

If you want REAL coffee come here. This isn't your watered down Starbucks or Dunkin this place is for coffee lovers. I love everything about Peets except that this location doesn't have enough seating! It's in the perfect location and the vibe inside is super cool but I can never get a seat. Hopefully one day I will!

Simply put, a great cup of coffee served by a knowledgable staff who are genuine and friendly. Pete's has one my coffee business with the quality and consitency. If you brew your own, the Kona is pricey but delicious.

I have never heard of this chain of coffee shops (even though I have been to California a few times) until a lady I recently met suggested to me that we should meet up to talk and hang out at this place. I agreed. I went to the nice and quiet community of Brookline and walked in. Since she was not there when I arrived, I found a table for two, put my stuff down, sent an SMS to the lady I was supposed to meet, and waited for a couple of seconds. While I was waiting, I decided to get some coffee and a snack. I ordered a small Vanilla Latte and a croissant. It was probably the most expensive coffee and snack I had at a total of $6.26, but it gave me enough energy for the rest the afternoon. The croissant was probably the most mediocre croissant I had in a while. It was a little rough to chew and had some staleness, probably from being on the tray for a while. However, the Vanilla Latte was probably one of the best coffee drinks I had in a while. I really liked the warm and somewhat sweet creaminess. I was glad I did not had to wait too long for my coffee. By the time my coffee was ready, the lady I was waiting for arrived, which was less than 5 minutes. She had some tea, and she seemed to enjoy it but said to me that the tea bags made the flavor a little strong or something like that. Although I really enjoyed my coffee after several sips, I was more engrossed in my somewhat spiritual conversation with the lady. Overall, this is not a bad place to get some decently good coffee in the nice and quiet community of Brookline. It is also not bad place if you really want to make an appointment with only one person. It is probably one of the very few cafes that I would go just for the coffee and not for the food. Hopefully, if I ever return to the best state in the USA, which is California, maybe this chain can serve better coffee and food.

This Peet's has the friendliest and most attentive staff of any coffee shop I've ever frequented. I happen to like Peet's coffee as well. I guess we're lucky to have several Peet's locations in the Boston area. Aside from Boston and a couple of stores in the Chicago area, Peet's is a west coast chain. The new matcha latte is great because it's made with matcha -- just the powdered green tea. That means it's finally possible to get a green tea latte that's unsweetened. And Peet's will make it extra strong if you want. I also like the new open Wi-Fi (no more codes to type in!) and the fact that your drink is free if you put $25 on a Peet's card. The people are the best thing about this Peet's, though. Tip them well! :-)

Coffee is the same as the joint in Lexington, however the service was lacking. The barista/s always seems nice and friendly but the cashiers are the ones who disappoint. The cashiers need to go through some customer service training or something.

I scrunch my nose, look down at the ground and shuffle my feet at the realization that I come to a CHAIN coffeehouse more than a local one. But hey, they know their stuff for a chain. And I'm around the Coolidge Corner area and there aren't many other options. Pour over coffee, french pressed, or drip. You name it, they have it. You can get bulk beans too! If you're into adding things to your coffee, they have a variety of things to choose from including raw turbinado sugar, chemical crap, honey, cocoa and cinnamon. I recommend giving the cocoa or cinnamon shaker a couple taps over your coffee or latte.

Truly, this is the best place for a cup of coffee in Coolidge Corner. It is kept clean, a house newspaper is often available and the staff is very knowledgeable about the coffees and helpful to customers. The atmosphere at Peets is a place I like to frequent. Their aged Sumatra coffee beans is my weekly purchase for making coffee at home. I am thrilled that Peet's is walking distance from my home.

    (5)
  • Joe R.

I like Peet's. Solid cup of coffee. The house blend, which I blindly buy, has a good kick. I love coffee, and I generally find one cup of this "Joe" to be plenty to wake up my mind, and stimulate my body. Service is personable, and I love the vibe of the shop and patrons. I am usually alone, set up solo to read or work, and it all happens well for me as I wait for my peeps to run errands or appointments in the neighborhood while I "put my feet up and mediate over a cup of coffee.

Love a good cup of Peet's coffee! Very fortunate to have one down the street from me all these years. On a recent visit, I met a friend here to catch up a little. Since it's cold i ordered a standard latte with an extra shot. Now I have noticed and also read online that Starbucks now uses a pre-made espresso concoction to speed things up and lessen the burden on their baristas. You can definitely taste the difference. Here at Peet's expresso is still made fresh to order and dead on! The staff here is always helpful and friendly. My only complaint would be to remodel to allow more seating and make it seem less like a cafeteria feeling. It seems like there is a ton of waster space to the left where they ground coffee. Being that it's Coolidge Corner, seating is usually hard to come by. Although it still has more than seating for 22 like the Starbucks a few doors down. Also, I think it's a weird flashback to 2005 whenever I use their internet. They give you a daily password.

  • Tyler W.

I go here more or less everyday. To be honest the drip coffee isn't very good, at least to my taste. On the other hand the espresso, and all the espresso drinking are good. Don't get me wrong they are far from great, but I haven't had great coffee/espresso in boston yet. For more part the coffee in boston is really bad. The best thing about Peet's is the staff. If you don't know nothing about coffee or espresso they give you what you'd expect, and it good, but If you know what you like they'll make it happen for you. They can't change the coffee they serve, because they're a franchise, but if know what an authentic macchiato is and you happen to want one, they'll make it for you. So to sum it all up, boston coffee scene is a crap shoot. Peet's does it better than most. Are they going to make you the best coffee you've ever had? Probably not, but they'll a good coffee every time, and in boston that's the most you can ask for. If you want coffee that's going to blow your mind go to Bard, in Portland, Me. It's an hour and a half drive, but it you looking for a place to grab a latte everyday Peet's is it.

I do not usually write reviews for chain coffee shops- but the Coolidge Corner Peet's is worth it. Delicious coffee, fantastic service, good tea and pastry selection. The staff are absolutely wonderful, and I feel as though their friendly and cheerful vibe is contagious throughout the store. I also always give coffee shops points if they offer simple syrup, along with sugar, to add to the coffee. Free wi-fi is always a plus, and I appreciate that the staff does not give me attitude if I stay for a few hours to get some work done. If you are waiting for the ever-temperamental C-line and need a quick pick-me-up, stop into Peet's (or stop along the way). Visting Peet's before my daily commute makes the Green Line experience much more tolerable. (Disclaimer: hot coffee on the T can present a safety hazard to both you and your dry-clean only clothes)

Every day I worked this summer went a little like this: Oh god, it's too early to be alive. Why am I awake?! Hm, Peet's is coming up on my right. Should I? Should I? Yeah ok, who am I kidding.. I walk in and see either the longest line ever or no line at all. I wait either way. The staff here already remembers my name and says hi to me and follows with a high five. "No worries, this coffee will kick in soon," they reassure me. I release a huge sigh of relief from my first sip of delicious, dark roast coffee and think, "how in the world did I use to drink Dunkin Donuts?" and go on with the rest of my day. Now that I'm back in Manhattan, sweltering the rest of my summer away in coffee shops that never remember my name, I reminisce of the times I breezed into Peet's and was welcomed by not only the rich aromas of coffee but friendly faces and morning conversations.

here is what happened: me: do you have cold brew coffee? barista: yea we have iced coffee me: no cold brew its different barista: oh yea its cold brew... then handed me an iced coffee that tasted like they used the left over burnt coffee from the day before. I would not expect everyone to know the difference BUT if you work at a coffee shop that is not dunkin - YOU SHOULD KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. cold brew is sweet nto bitter and does not contain acid like traditionally brewed coffee because it is never headed it sits in the grounds overnight and then is drained.

  • Laura S.

Went here to just use my laptop and so I wasn't expecting a super nice coffee. But their latte tasted really creamy and just right! Later then I found out Peets actually is located in several other places, and even sell their own roasted beans in some other markets. Well, there's always a reason behind a well developed coffee shop!

I had the mint coconut mocha iced thing and it was delicious! I don't drink a lot of coffee but I would definitely come back. The employees were very nice and the shop was very clean.

i like this place. i prefer their coffee to starbucks, and the staff are always nice - and they don't keep trying to talk to you if you don't want to talk (a huge pet peeve of mine). also way better non-coffee options than starbucks. PEETS, I LOVE YOU.

  • Mon R.

came here one morning this week and it was SO warm inside! I mean, as warm as luke-warm coffee. I personally appreciate my coffee being at least a FEW degrees warmer than where I'm sitting.... Also wish there was more seating.

  • Ester W.

The service at Peet's is consistently good-the barista are always so energetic and they always so welcoming and nice, even if customers are loaded with unnecessary attitude. It was my first time trying the new "Green Tea Latte" at Peets-my only complaint is that I wish that the matcha was a bit heavier-im kind of a matcha fanatic. But otherwise it was good!

    (4)
  • Toodles K.

*LOVE* this Peet's! It's the first one I have ever been to and it's still my favorite! My barista was tall, dark and handsome with lovely ice blue framed glasses and the BEST flair outside of "Office Space". *muwah*

    (5)
  • Catie C.

I like the tea here more than Starbucks. I think it has more tea flavor. I would give them 5 stars if they have sofas for lounging around! The barista was courteous and friendly. I'm so used to my drinks lidded from other places that I just thought it was awkward that Peet doesn't hand it over that way. It's greener this way since I skipped going to the condiment center of getting a straw and lid. I just sipped as if it was in a tea cup.

    (4)
  • Nik B.

Anything is better than Starbucks. Having said that, there is a Starbucks about a block away from this Peet's and Peet's pretty much uppercuts it to the floor. Not only does Peet's offer a better, more delicious selection of pastries, but the espresso drinks are much better too. The selection of tea is larger, and the music is better. With any purchase, you get 2 free hours of Wifi at Peet's, and they have no problem giving you another code, free of charge for 2 more hours. At Starbucks you have to jump through a few hoops, or pay, to get wireless internet. Since I live about an 8 minute walk away, I see myself coming back to Peet's many many times.

    (4)
  • Elise K.

This coffee is pretty strong. Stronger than I prefer, anyway. And the food selection is uninspiring. On the upside, the staff is pretty nice. I kind of wish I liked the product more because I really like the environment and would enjoy spending some time there.

    (2)
  • Jeff D.

Better quality coffee than Starbucks plus an utter lack of pretentiousness (if that's a word) is why Pete's gets the 4 stars. Plus their tea is fantastic so I always feel like I have to make a choice at the counter between tea or coffee, which I also enjoy. Every time I've been to Sunday breakfast at Zaftigs a trip to Peet's is in the mix. It helps kill the wait time if you put in your name, wander down to Peet's for your caffienated beverage of choice then wander back.

    (4)
  • Annette N.

I must thank you, Mr. Peet for the music so discreet like Telemann's A minor recorder Suite in Harvard's best place to meet for tea and that pear danish so sweet. What a treat! Never again, Mr. Starbuck, Your coffee be muck. And your music, it suck. And your tea, what the f---?

    (4)
  • Matthew F.

Not a truly memorable coffeehouse in terms of space - though it is decorated with the same beautiful framed African mud cloths standard in the California shops - this is a fairly typical Peet's. Don't get me wrong, I am a professed Peetnik fan of their Berkeley home base - their teas and coffees are very good (though their overlord competition Starbucks has given them a run for their money with the new Clover brews offered in select stores) but there are plenty of more independent places all over town if that is your thing - I admit these days it is certainly mine. Nevertheless, if you can snag a table, this place is pretty solid for writing that dissertation or blogging that astute web banter. It's also nice to see the Coolidge Corner community, including elderly patrons who take their coffee seriously - gotta respect it - kids and folks of all ages, coming and going. Despite the narrow work surface, the bar along the window makes for decent people-watching.

Probably the best iced vanilla lattes I've had, ever. They froth the milk for their iced espresso drinks which I'm tellin' ya makes alllll the difference... I've never been in another coffee shop that does that, and wouldn't have even thought to ask for it pre-Peets. Try an iced drink here and you'll never be satisfied with one anywhere else. Also, staffers are wicked nice, they always put a smile on my face when I'm there. Thumbs up all around.

Not bad, service is hit or miss. Make sure you stalk your desired table in order to make sure you pounce...

I hate this coffee shop. I don't know if it's because I going the weekends, but the people that work there have always been really snotty to me. For some reason it's needlessly loud. The coffee I got there in the early afternoon was terrible, and the coffee drink iced I got was awful.

  • Zulu Q.

Call me pretentious, but how do you East Coasters tolerate Dunkin Donuts? Please. I want to know. To me, it tastes like cholera-infested pond water. Then again, I'm also a Peetnik. To a DnD lover, it makes me an asshole. To a coffee lover, it makes me an afficionado. Maybe. Anyway, after trying to desensitize myself to DnD swill or Starbucks with a weird fish after taste (WTF?!) for four days, I was so happy to find myself in Brookline and near this Peet's. Such a sight for sore eyes. I almost dry-humped the building. Yay, it was a little comfort from home to the disoriented East Bay gal. (Though it was weird seeing my latte made with milk that was not from Berkeley Farms). Even more comforting, my barista was also from the East Bay...my hometown even...the world is small. This Peet's is of average size. It gets pretty crowded, but it is large enough to accomodate the strollers that sometimes happen here. This location will be seeing a lot of me very soon.

I swear I am not a coffee drinker. Or at least I did not used to be. But here I am, writing a review about how good the sugar-free soy vanilla latte is from Peet's! I did not see this coming, very much in the same way people do not realize they are in love. Out of nowhere, it hits you. Your palms start sweating, heart racing, mind all a-blur. I don't think I can go to Dunkin Donuts any longer in good conscience. I mean, the odds of me passing a D&D is much greater than Peet's, but the enjoyment factor just won't register in the same way. Should I be thankful, that my eyes have been opened to a better, more delectable way to enjoy coffee? Or should I be annoyed that I cannot simply live in ignorance, enjoying the semi-burnt taste of an inferior bean? Even the people at Peet's are nice! Today, the barista smiled at me and told me to "take it easy today." Thank you Peet's. I have now been enlightened.

This particular Peet's Coffee location is top notch because 1) The coffee and snacks are delicious 2) The Baristas there are phenomenal. They are positive, friendly, helpful, generous and really make this location an extremely pleasant place to be.

saturday night, i decided to go on a much needed date with the city of brookline. she was special, very much so, to the point that i didnt want it to end, but just as her sisters of boston and cambridge and others she goes to bed pretty early so i stretched it out as long as daddy permitted her. i went to peets around 745 or so, after a nice small dinner at anna's and a couple of walks through stores, i wanted a nice coffee with ice in it and a nice place to sit and people watch, the same people that would eventually watch me. i was casually greeted upon entry, the queue of 3 people was apparently too long, and they had to call for back up, oddly enough. i ordered some caffe mocha latte, umm, it was coffee with milk and chocolate, like whatever, not that serious, but it was good. the atmosphere felt a bit cold, not so much in temperature, but a bit sterile really in environment. coffee was good, if a bit too much chocolate, atmosphere was sub par, but my date with brookline ended with a long walk down harvard street, and then i cheated on her with allston for a house party...

We usually come in during the summers for their Jasmine Lime Tea Coolers. It's refreshing, but sometimes, they make it too sweet. Sometimes, it's just right. It's hit or miss, but if it's too sweet, I'd wait for the ice to melt a bit to un-sweeten a tad. I also like how they'll give you a complimentary coffee/tea if you buy a pound of coffee or a tin/box of tea!

    (4)
  • Joseph P.

My iced coffee didn't taste like coffee, it tasted like tootsie roll water with a shot of Sanka. The atmosphere was not inviting. It seems like they tried to make it feel like a cross between starbucks and dunks...why would anyone do that?

  • Angie G.

A great fan of the location. Their coffee is amazingly fresh and I find myself jealous of the baristas for having the luxury of working on a Marzocco machine! The best machine in the business, if you ask me. I find myself wanting to work there just to use that machine again! The service is pretty decent and their foam impeccable! Consistently delicious and timely. A staple to the neighborhood.

I live in Brookline for 2 years and I've never been in Peet's coffee & Tea. I tried this place last Friday with my boyfriend and we really liked it. I had a cappuccino (it was strong) and my boyfriend had a hot chocolate. His hot coco was DELICIOUS:) Plus, they are open till 10. I love Coolidge Corner and I really don't understand why most coffee shops are closing early..

I love Peets. When my husband and I lived in New York, he used to mail order our coffee from Peets. Imagine our delight when we moved to Brookline and there was a Peets in walking distance from our apartment. And not just any Peets, the best Peets in Boston. The baristas in the Coolidge Corner Peets are friendly, personable, and always willing to answer questions about the day's blend. Have a question about whole bean coffee? They can answer that too. They were even able to answer a question on where we could get our home espresso machine repaired. The store is immaculate. I've seen the employees here completely dismantle the espresso machine and grinders at night to clean them out. The coffee is delicious. I love their espresso drinks- the shots are always perfectly drawn. Wi-fi is free at Peets and it can be hard to get a table. If you get there early in the morning on a weekday, though, tables are easy to come by. Later in the a.m. the stroller squad takes over and tables become a rare commodity.

I used to work at the Coolidge Corner TJ's and would come in every singe lunch break for a strong ass cuppa. Love the staff, love the beans, love the Bialetti Moka pot I purchased from there as well.

Peet's coffee never ceases to amaze me. Growing up a Seattle coffee drinker I am used to that "one" coffee company you see EVERYWHERE. Going into the Brookline store last week was a treat. It was clean, inviting, and packed. Obviously people knew where to get their cup of joe. I appreciated the humor of the boys working behind the counter. They treated everyone who walked in, including people they've never seen before, like long lost friends. That is how you define customer service, and even though its a 20 minute drive out of my way, I intend to make this shop my go-to store for a little work and relaxation.

While not the largest coffee shop in the universe, it occupies great real estate and is a spot to see and be seen. I'll also forever love this place because I hugged a girl there after our first date and now she's my wife. Oh and the scones aren't bad either.

I heart Peets. I grew up in Souther California and I lived on all the amazing coffee chains out there. As I got older, I started shifting away from the ice blended drinks and towards the straight up coffee. That's what really weeded out a lot of the chains in LA. Peets stood out. I may also be a bit biased as I used to insist on going to the one in Berkeley whenever I found myself in the area. I pretty much resigned myself to Starbucks, if I was lucky, when I moved to New England. Granted, I hadn't discovered Dunkin Donuts yet...so that was a huge savior from the burned, overpriced Starbucks coffee. So imagine how shocked I was to hear that there were actually PEETS in Boston!!! I love the one in Coolidge Corner. It's cute, the staff is always friendly, drinks are always prompt and the whole atmosphere is just laid back and awesome. The coffee is great...never over-brewed, never bitter...just delicious. Yum. I'm actually heading there soon to get my fix :) Yum.

Saving the day one cappuccino at a time. Who saves the day when I need a pick me up in the morning before my walk to work? When I'm working from home but my internet is not set up yet? When I need a special but small gift and have no time...who comes to my rescue? PEET'S! Two hours of internet for free?! Wha?!?! AND they're super nice about it! Just ask them for a code at the front counter (umm and buy something..). In general, the staff is super friendly and the coffee is good as always but in particular, their Coolidge Corner location is wayyyyyyyyy cozier than the Harvard one. In Harvard's location, I love the coffee, love the service but hated actually sitting there, in Coolidge, I enjoy all three! Anywho, Peet, you saved the day once again so I just had to write about it.

Man, I do so love Peets. I got hooked on them way back in Palo Alto California, and was so happy to see them when I moved out to Boston. Their drinks don't have that burned taste that Starbucks do, and also have quite a bit more of a kick than any other place I drink. The staff is friendly and quick.. my only complaints (which isnt going to cost them a star) is that the store needs a refresh. Now if only In N Out Burger would head out here I would be set!

We love Peet's, but this one is terrible. Over two weeks, we ordered eight Freddo drinks, and only two tasted right. Large orders were prepared as medium size twice, then the employees tried to gloss over the difference and "get away" with it rather than redo it properly. The prep area is tiny and cramped and for unknown reasons the pickup counter is the same small place where you order, leading to several "excuse me's" and jostling every time your drink comes up. Employees aren't rude, but don't seem happy, which is a sad contrast to our hometown Peet's location. Just a bummer all around, and we certainly gave them many chances to get our simple orders right. Avoid this Peet's.

Stopped in for a cappuccino. We don't have Peet's in New York City, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail at what appears to be a chain coffee shop. My cappuccino was perfect, the ever important foam was well balanced. Peet's appears to resemble a coffee house more than Starbucks. This little coffee shop offers a nice assortment of coffees, varied blends, all types of teas - and slice of warmth on colder days.

I'm removing one star because I found myself going to Peet's less and less. Here's why: I don't think they're making a good cappuccino anymore. It tastes bland (I can barely taste the coffee). Now days cappuccino is more like a latte.

Ok I've been converted. Never thought this day would come. I love everything about the drinks Peets, their regular coffee, their tea, their lattes. All delicious. I stay away from the pastries as I am disappointed with every single one I've tried- but you don't go to Peets for pastries, you go for coffee. And it's great and strong. The employees make it even better, super friendly, nice, and remember you. Love it.

They haven't kicked me out yet, so I suppose that's a good thing. Seriously though, I spend a lot of time here. Like way too much. Since I work from home, I often feel the need to get out of the apt. and into the "real world." I usually just get black coffee, which is the perfect strength. But I'm also in love with the non-fat sugar-free vanilla latte. I know, It sounds disgusting. It is sooooo good. I honestly think they're lying when they tell me it's non-fat and sugar-free, but what I don't know won't hurt me, right? I wish Peet's was bigger. Sometimes I have to wait for a seat. And then I feel really bad when I'm sitting for a couple hours and know that I'm taking up room. The staff is always super friendly and like I said, they haven't kicked me out yet. In Brookline, you can get 1 free hour of wi-fi daily. or you can subscribe for something like $10/month for the first 3 months and have unlimited access. Works great from Peet's but for some reason not at all from Starbucks!

Nice small place. Great location. Can see locals here. That's always a good sign. Good service. Great coffee. Has a clean restroom for the paying customers. Ask for the key to the restroom. Got a one hour free WiFi. You get the password from them. I have been there twice now.

Dear Coolidge Corner Peet's Coffee & Tea, I have a crush on you. Do you want to go out with me? Yes: ___ No:___ Need More Time: ___ Love, Michael PS: Peet's coffee is pretty good for a chain shop, and they have a great variety in rotation. It's always very fresh, and they give you as much room for cream and sugar as you ask for (with a drain for you if you forget). Let me tell you though, the folks that work here are pretty great and have some pretty great knowledge of what they're selling to you. If you like the Starbucks-style "Here is your coffee into which we have dumped 17 pounds of sugar and 114 fl. oz. of skim milk, please go sit in that corner and drink it alone and don't make a peep because we already know it tastes like burning", then I recommend going to the one half a block down Harvard Street where your Uggs will fit in better. If you like to shoot the breeze with the cuties making your drink for you, come around midday or after rush hour and you'll be in for a real treat.

Location location location! Let's face it. Coolidge Corner is a happening neighborhood. When I'm in the area and am looking for some caffeinated goodness, Peet's is right around the corner. Their drinks have always been satisfying (although I am a die-hard Dunkin fan) and I would happily drop in again in the near future. Last time I tried one of their tea smoothie drinks, and it was quite delicious. I had the mango one and my friend got the pomegranate and they were both really good. So even if you aren't a huge coffee person, they've got really yummy non-coffee drinks as well! Score!

Best Caramel Latte I've ever had. I haven't had anything else because I am addicted. I am a coffee snob, and I admit it. The seating does stink, but this is great for on the go coffee. Or if you are willing to wait, you can eventually find a seat. Can't wait to go back.

Peet's is never actually my destination- I am usually popping in to kill time before a movie at Coolidge Corner Theatre; to warm up with a cup of tea in the winter or to just plain ol' while away time. That being said, the shop is very clean and the staff is friendly. I really like the assam tea and my boyfriend slurped down his drink in about 4 seconds flat. (It usually takes him about 2 hours and 4 trips to the microwave for a re-heat when he is drinking tea at home.) Maybe one of these days I will make it to Peet's as a destination. But until then I will happily make up excuses to pop in and out for now. P.S.- The chai here is a lot better than that at Panera. Also, the wait probably averages 3-4 hours less than that at Panera.

Definitely one of the best peet's I've been to. Very friendly staff, clean, and good drinks (coffee/cappuccino drinker)

After moving to Brookline, I immediately went on the hunt for an acceptable coffeeshop where I could relax, read, and use wi-fi every so often to check e-mail, etc. Peet's, while coming oh-so-close, doesn't really deliver. Granted, their lattes are the best in the area by far, and their drip coffee is quite good. However, this Peet's location has an odd layout and isn't all too good for hunkering down. It does boast diving floor-to-ceiling windows and tons of light, but I simply haven't been able to get comfortable in the space. There are a fair number of people that will hover over their laptops for hours on end (as far as i know it is the only place in the area with free wifi), putting additional stress on the already high demand for seating. bottom line: if you are in the area and want a quick pick-me-up, peet's is the obvious choice as their beverage offerings easily outdo the starbucks nextdoor. but if you're looking for a comfy spot to unwind and enjoy your espresso, you may want to look elsewhere.

Dear you, I love you Peet's. Can I marry you? I want to have your children so we can feed them those f***ing awesome chewy chocolate chip cookies you make everyday. And only you and I know you don't get those cookies anywhere in the world - not even your own store in San Fran. Special much? I think so! I love your coffee, I cry sweet tears every time I sip my iced vanilla latte. I love your baristas - they are super cool and friendly. I love your location - fun to sit and chat or read a book. Love Me

  • Adam E.

I love Peet's in general, I don't care if they're a bit of a corporate chain. They have quality drinks and high standards. The staff is friendly, but don't expect them to have a conversation with you when there's a line of customers. It does get crowded on the weekends, so bear that in mind if you're looking for a place to spread out 5 law books. And Charlotte L. is so right, leave the double-wide stroller at home if you're going to Peet's. The space is too small for your Maclean XXL Twinnie Special.

    (4)
  • Charlotte L.

If you have a five-ton stroller with you the next time you come to Peet's in Coolidge Corner, please don't park it in the doorway. Seriously, folks, I understand that you need a way to transport your children, and I realize challenging that is a surefire way to incur the wrath of Coolidge Corner, but this place is tiny and crowded and somehow, one way or another, I always stumble over something--animal, vegetable or mineral--on my way in or out. "A good alternative to Starbucks" seems to be the most-cited reason to visit Peet's, never mind that they're just behind the infamous Seattle coffee behemoth (and I don't think they'd turn down the chance to overtake it). So why not walk down the street to JP Lick's and patronize a real, live local business? Their coffee is at least good, I promise, and you won't have to scale an obstacle course to get it.

While I am not really big on coffee, I do enjoy a mocha paired with their delicious cookie. Their tea selection however needs a bit of work... but then again, I think most people stop by Peet's for the coffee. Sometimes it gets a little crowded at Peet's and it could take a few minutes to grab a table, especially when there are lots of people camping out for the day.... but I like that people feel comfortable enough at Peet's to camp out for the day. As someone who likes to camp out at cafes to do work and to veg, Peet's is decidedly better for vegging. *****Update***** - star b/c I saw a teeny tick crawling along + star for the yummy jasmine lime ice tea - star for said jasmine lime ice tea b/c the icea tea was 80% ice

    (3)
  • Matt C.

If the Starbucks a few doors down is the trendy, slovenly acquaintance who always asks you to pick up the tab, then the Brookline Peet's is the amiable, soft-spoken best friend - never offending, always delivering. Peet's is a nice place to read this week's Phoenix or wait for a movie at the Coolidge, and the lattes (hot or iced) always come with perfect foam caps, the sign of a true barista. I docked half a star because of the seating situation. Every time I stop by, whether I'm staying or going, I never see anyone buying beans. Yet the beans section occupies over half the store, eating up valuable table space. The other half-star is subtracted because of the hours. I can't say how many times I've made plans to see a movie at the Coolidge and grab a coffee at Peet's before hand only to find it dark and silent. Please, embrace competition and stay open as late as your boisterous neighbor!

Since I start every one of my days here, I figured it's a good place to write my first review about. For a chain coffee shop, it is solid. The lattes are consistenly great and they don't judge me when I order iced lattes in the middle of a blizzard in January. (Sidenote: that's just how I roll). The line runs very smoothly and the drinks take a few minutes longer due to the TLC they give it. The staff are all friendly and very efficient (and ahem...cute). Few minor things: Never feeling the pastries. For some reason they don't look that appetizing. Starbucks probably has them on that regard (Apple Fritter, Marble Loaf, Egg Florentine sandwich....no contest). Starbucks has better seating too (Peet's seating just looks uncomfortable). I'm in run and gun mode so its not an issue for me in the morning. Still not sure why there's still people who would rather go a few doors down to Starbucks when Peet's is right there, but hey, if it means the line at Peet's is a bit shorter for me, then let's just keep it that way.

A pretty good Peet's overall. A pretty decent coffee shop overall. Let me break it down: Service: the staff's fun, polite and quick. When it's not busy, they're free to chat and recommend the drinks they like. Variety: Peet's in general has great variety in coffees, teas and random drinks. In fact, other than Tealuxe, they provide more variety in teas for sitting and drinking, then other places I know (Maybe Cafe L'Aroma? But only cause the owner owns the tea shop upstairs too). Atmosphere: It's ok, a little cramped feeling at times, and it's basic Peet's deco. At least it doesn't feel machine-pressed like other corporate coffee shops. Crowds: This place gets *packed*. Good luck finding seating on a weekend, even on weeknights. Often tables are taken up by people with laptops and no drinks. I'm no fan of that. Overall: If you can, i like this place to meet up with friends and sit, drink, chat, read.

I am fairly knowledgeable about espresso. I home roast, and have used pro quality gear in my home for years including mazzer grinders and 45 pound Italian espresso machines. The good news is I can stop into this Peets and get a drinkable shot of espresso. The bad news is that it has never been outrageously wonderful, sweet, with fine aromatics. It's just acceptable. I think the baristas there do a great job with what they are working with and I've always gotten great service. It's second wave espresso, but not third wave like other small local shops in Boston are serving.

This quaint corner location gets many thumbs up for its size, great coffee and inviting atmosphere. I'm a Peet's addict originally from California and this one reminds me of home. I love their coffee and they don't burn their beans. I figure if I can chug a regular cup with no sugar or cream it is as good as it gets. There are several tables set up for conversation with a friend or friends. They also have good counter space facing the street for prime people-watching. It is a good spot to study if you need to escape your apartment.

Everything I've ordered here has been good. I've had a couple of the coffee drinks and one or two of the muffins. The employees are really nice and I like the atmosphere of the place. The only downside is the tables seem to be filled most of the time and you have to wait to grab a seat.

Peet's has a special place in my heart since I'm a NorCal native and remember Peet's when it was a Berkeley phenom...that was before it was bought by Starbucks. Tear. Anyway...buy your coffee beans here (Major Dickason's blend is a popular favorite) to use at home. The loose leaf tea is so flavorful, it will make you shun the kind that comes in a bag. Also, this Peet's picks up the free wifi from across the street. I'm taking off one star for two reasons: the pastries are hit or miss and the place is so darn cold you need a hat and gloves all year round. Nonetheless, Peet's is still, by far, the best place to check e-mail or meet someone for coffee before a movie in Coolidge Corner.

Zomg. Let me tell you a little secret. When I was looking at coming to Boston University for grad school my mom booked a place called "The Beacon Inn" on (duh) Beacon street. On one occasion where we found ourselves exploring Brookline, we stumbled into Coolidge Corner. We walked down the street a little and there it was. Peet's. I thought to myself: "I am going to BU. I am living within walking distance to Peet's." Done and done. Two years and lots o' debt later, here I am reviewing Peet's Coffee and Tea. I used to live in the Bay Area where coffee is king and I grew up drinking Peet's. Living so close to one is truly a huge, huge treat. I love the people that work here, they're way laid back and always willing to have a quick convo if they're bored at work. They are efficient and the coffee price is right for the awesomeness you are ingesting. I love that they will pack you a fresh pound of coffee, not just expect you to pick up a pound that's been sitting on the shelf for god knows how long. And with that pound of coffee, you get a FREE coffee. Or, you can put the free-ness towards a prettier, fattier beverage if you like. It's Peet's, the sky's the limit. Oh. Did I mention it's the best coffee you'll ever drink? No? Well, it is. Forever.

This coffee shop would give Starsbuck a run for their money. It is a quaint coffee shop. You will see a selection of coffee bean and people buying freshly grinded coffee powder. The mocha tasted just as good, if not better than Starsbuck. It is a shame that they do not open one in NYC.

I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, so I know good Peet's when I drink it, and these folks do me proud as a coffee snob :b The baristas are super friendly and the space seems to be adequate for the amount of customers it gets. Their pastries are delicious and fresh. And I love Coolidge Corner/Harvard Street area so much anyway, it just makes sense that my favorite coffee chain would have a place there too :)

    (5)
  • Max N.

Consistently quite good coffee. The wifi is now free for two hours, which is handy, though it can be pretty damn hard to get a seat there. The last couple of times I was there, well over half of the computer users had MacBooks (including me); odd. Several years ago, they had several passable-to-decent pastries. Now their pastries are very sad. I won't say that Starbucks' awful pastries are better; but I do heavily regret that almost no coffee places in Boston have acceptable pastry.

  • Stockton M.

Peet's has a nice atmosphere - no comfy chairs like Starbucks but less cookie-cutter. Plus, the chairs at Starbucks get kind of dirty and gross after a while. Peet's is well-lit and has nice tables. The problem is that there is not enough seating, so I often walk away if I want to sit and work. No free-wifi except the town offers one hour of free wi-fi per day-not long enough to be worth it.

true, my norcal upbringing garners a certain predilecton for loving on peets, but after much cafe exploring on the east coast, there are many many things that peets still does oh-so-right. as full a selection (if not more) of exquisite tea and coffee, an array of edibles that far outshines that other place down the block, the possibility of swooping in on wireless internet via the front window seats, and a staff who is neither expected to wear visors nor support a system of inarticulate sizing (a tall is the smallest option, you say? and now you've changed languages on me?) a spectacular place for gifting, as peets has been my go-to for all away-from-the-bay gatherings. my only hope is that a city as supportive of scholarly endeavors would look to extend cafe hours past nine pm (look for this recurring theme in all of my loving of cafes and yet bumming about early closing hours in other bostonian reviews...)

I map my day around Peet's. I love their coffee (small americano with lot's of room) and when I order they don't confuse me with some secret coffee language. I tell them what I want, they provide me with that. It's really simple and they don't complicate it. I also buy my beans here. They encourage environmental awareness by rewarding you when you use your own cup, grind bag etc. They also give you a free cup of coffee with your pound. My only complaint is that there aren't enough Peet's in the Boston area and that they don't leave soy milk on the counter with the cream and milk.....

  • Q S.

Eh, this place isn't all that special to me. It's smaller than the one in Harvard Square and less crowded. I ordered a decaf caramel latte and it turned out to be way too sweet for my taste. The baked goods aren't all that great either.

Love my neighborhood Peet's! Seriously better coffee than Starbucks, way cooler ambiance, and has the added bonus of serving really good tea, tea drinks, and nibbles.

  • Jonathan P.

Great alternative to Starbuck's. went there for the first time this weekend and hit it up at least three more times. Prices are comparable to Starbuck's, but the decor is a little homier feeling and its got more of a raw indie feel than Starbuck's corporate comfort thing. I got the Iced Carmel latte, the large, and it was pretty damn good and did the trick all for $4. The caffeine works just fine. That's good with me, plus the service was friendly and very helpful, and they had a large selection of teas too, I didn't try them but they looked good.

  • Emily R.

Although I don't get anything from Peet's for free (wish I did), I still love their coffee. Even their house brew is full-bodied and delicious. The staff at the Coolidge Corner Peet's is always friendly, while not pushy or adjective-obsessed like other coffee chains. I like to buy their beans and brew at home...another plus, when you buy a pound, you get a cuppa joe on the house.
