Mac's Deli is a fantastic new edition to the Oak Square neighborhood in Brighton. Located ever so conveniently on Washington Street, next to several bus routes, Mac's makes for a convenient place to stop on the way home from work or the gym when I'm just about ready to eat a whole cow. Their menu offers every kind of sandwich, from the traditional (Italian, Thanksgiving) to the creative and crazy. I mean - I don't even know what I ordered but it involved pastrami, crispy bacon and barbecue sauce and now I'm curled up on my couch like an overfed cat, stuffed and happy. They offer a variety of great sides, including hot soups (perfect for those cold and rainy days), potato salads, chef's salads, mac n' cheese (YES!!!) and leafy green salads. The owner and staff are very friendly and seem really excited to be serving the Brighton neighborhood. I am looking forward to see this place develop and will definitely be going there again. (Rumor has it they'll be offering breakfast sandwiches soon too. Can't wait. Because honestly, I am extremely lazy on Saturday mornings and that chain donut place nearby just doesn't cut it.)

I've now been to Mac's 3 times since they've opened and I can't get enough. From stopping in for a quick bite, to having them cater a group of friends of 20+, Mac's always delivers the best. Their meats are fresh and their red bliss potato salad is the best I've ever had. If you live in brighton near oak square you should check it out. Definitely worth it!!

Place is a great addition to Oak Square as many have said. I've gone there about 6 times or so since they opened in September. Breakfast sandwiches, 5 stars; Cold Cut sandwiches 5 stars; Hot Sandwiches such as Buffalo Chicken; 2 stars. The chicken wasn't fresh cutlet, and was microwaved to heat up and a roast beef sandwich I had was kind of on the dry side. In all honesty, if you move in to a neighborhood with a Wings Express and numerous pizza places, you have to come in swinging with that Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I'll still get a breakfast sandwich from them over Kikis any day of the week.

We are really excited to have this place in the neighborhood! The sandwiches were really, really good. And the bread was fresh. It's also really close to the Y so perfect for a post workout sandwich! I have to agree with some of the other reviews though in that the actual space and the number of products needs improvement if they're going to last. Right now it feels like a going out of business sale in there, with empty fridges and no tables. I understand businesses need time to get established but you don't want people to stop coming because It feels uninviting. Also, ease up on the 'try out meat' college humor references.

Went to macs after a friend recommended it to me, sandwich was good, definitely lots of fresh meat (though I prefer a larger veggie to meat ratio), but the bread was a bit stale. When I told my friend, she told me she had gone back and gotten stale bread as well. I want to love this place, but better bread please!

I got the Black Jack sandwich. It was good, not soggy at all even though there was a heaping of lettuce and chipotle mayo. The chicken was breaded and decent. The bread was fluffy and sesame seeded, reminding me almost of a big mac. The sandwich was okay, nothing special. I think it could have been improved by superior bread options. I felt like I was eating fast food, and that is not really what I look for in a sandwich. I typically am not a fan of deli sandwiches that are served hot. But for $12 dollars, I had figured this was going to be something special. Unfortunately it wasn't, it was a good sandwich relatively speaking. But if I pick apart the sandwich, ingredient by ingredient, I just don't see where the cost is justified. I will give them another try sometime down the road because the staff is friendly.

They are right around the corner, and I want to like them so badly. I am from NJ and have been dying for a real deli in the area!! Pros: Boars head meats good bread thin sliced cold cuts taylor ham egg sandwiches cold cuts by the pound cons: they don't make their own chicken cutlets, im talking frozen and microwaved. Just take the extra time and make your own, its not hard. They are open at the completely wrong times. If you are serving breakfast sandwiches then open for breakfast, im talking like an 8AM-7PM schedule. There is no need for a deli to be open till 10PM at night. They are marketing all to the college kids, when there are plenty of young professionals, and trade workers in the area that need coffee, breakfast and lunch or early dinner. There are 1,000 refridges with nothing in it and zero décor. Its way to stark and uninviting. Get a few tables, or at least some bar stools. Fill up the fridges or get rid of them. It looks terrible. Final thoughts, the folks that own it are really nice, and they have the right idea. But they aren't going to last without making some changes. For now, ill keep throwing them a bone but ill stick to cold cuts till they figure out the rest.
