My boss took our staff here for lunch last week, and we all ADORED it. The restaurant is very clean and boasts a sleek decor that makes it very inviting. I was wary of an order-at-the-counter place, but the wait staff really went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We placed our orders--three of us went for kabobs, one ordered a panini, and the other got lamb--and took a seat, and we were delighted when one of the servers brought a basket of piping hot pita and fresh hummus. I could've survived on that alone! Our meals arrived after we'd had time to savor the appetizer, and we were all impressed with our entrees. My kabobs were served on pita with a side salad; I could've done without the salad, but the kabob was very tasty and memorable. I recently moved to this corner of Brighton, and I know I'll be visiting Esperia again soon!

This place recently reopened as Esperia. It's still run by the same family but the place has been revamped with nicer seating options and glass deli cases up by the counter to showcase the food. I used to come here when the place was still Brighton Center House of Pizza and it was pretty good then. It's AWESOME now that they have more Greek items on the menu. I just got an appetizer platter with hummus, skordalia(garlic spread), tzatziki, feta spread and some WARM pita bread- all for about $9 - perfect! In addition to the Greek food they also still have pizza, subs, wraps, paninis, and rotisserie chicken.

Loved the food. The falafel was great. So was the dessert. (I forget the name. The chef said that it was something similar to Baklava, but has more cinnamon). The team was friendly, courteous and thoughtful.

It took me a while to try this little hole in the wall next to Dunkin Donuts, but it was worth it. I still dream of their Feta spread.

Great local place. All fresh, homemade Greek that's to die for. Great, family-owned and run place. Stop in to see Tim and Georgia while munching on the #2 with chicken!!

Let me preface this by saying I don't really care for Greek food. Couple that with the fact my boyfriend has dragged me to every kebob shop within driving distance (greek food overload)... and it's safe to say I fought him on even trying this place. But Esperia Grill is great for fast takeout. The chicken gyro is hot, flavorful and filling. The side salads are even delicious, with super tasty dressing. Great variety of food and reasonable prices. What more could you want for week-night takeout? Yum.

Love this place! The food is SO good. The greek salad dressing is ridiculously good....so good that they sell it by the bottle! I make frequent trips just to buy the salad dressing! The people that work there are always very friendly too.

The food at this place is great and I've been coming in regularly since it opened. Their greek salad is amazing. I occasionally get it with grilled chicken in a wrap and its mouth watering. They offer a half panini with a soup or salad special and the panini's are juicy and nicely seasoned. One of my favorite items is the pita with spicy feta spread appetizer. It's addicting and I get it almost every time I go in. The family that runs this place is super cool. They remember you and make you feel like family. I tried my first gyro from them and it was absolutely amazing. They even make pizza too. The place has a nice dining area and the cases with food displayed always look great. They now serve beer and wine too.

Amazingly friendly service during 3 visits. Gyros are great. Plan on a nap after eating there!

I came upon this place by accident and got very exited to try it out (since I really miss working near "Greek Corner"). I ordered 2 Moussakas (one with Roasted Vegetables and one with Sauteed String Beans) and a Cold Appetizer Platter (Spicy Feta Spread, Tzatziki, Fried Eggplant and Marinated Fresh Mushrooms). Both Moussakas ended up in the trash - there were barely any meat in them and both taste and texture were horrible (instead of creamy, it tasted like uncooked flour with cinnamon from the meat). They fared better with the appetizers, but even though i like the taste of the Fried Eggplant, the amount of seeds in some of them made it very unpleasant to eat). The sting beans had some herbal flavor I didn't care for and the roasted vegetables weren't that good either - wouldn't really call what I received roasted. I also don't think they are that cheap: it came to about $39 and most of it ended up in the trash.

Very good Greek food. The gyros, rotisserie chicken, and salad are great. There dressing is so good that they started selling it by the bottle. Delivery can sometimes be longer than expected but it's worth the wait.

I go there quite a bit, and the owner is named Tim. He's a nice and hard-working man (with a short-temper to his sons). I love Greek food, and this is my favorite. His son told me that their restaurant has been there for 10+ years. THeir prices are fairly-priced for excellent food. Their beef gyros are great with the baked potatoes with lemon. Also, their chicken gyros are great. Finally, their PASTRIES ARE ALSO a hidden gem over there. It takes them a while to cook your food, however. Expect to wait 10 minutes. UPDATE as of July 24th, 2010: This place continues to be the best Greek restaurant (better than Steve's Greek Restaurant on Newbury or Farm Grill in Newton) - hands down. Their prices are unmatchable. The hidden gem, however, are their baklavas, which is much better than what you get at Athan's across the street or the Middle Eastern restaurants of Cambridge. Tim, who is the owner, son told me that his mom makes them. Excellent.

This place is my go-to delivery place in the Brighton area. Their salads are actually fresh - which is hard to come by at many local establishments. Also, their appetizers, particularly the garlic spread and the spice feta spread, are delicious. I've never found them anywhere else, either! Definitely a quick, easy, and delicious choice in Brighton Center.

Delicious food, large dinner portions with salad and reasonable prices. The chef and waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. If you have a gluten allergy, like I do - the waitstaff notifies the chef about the allergy so there is cross contamination and everything is 100% gluten free. Must try: gyro platter, lamb shanks, lamb kebabs, and rice pudding.

Food was average; tomatoes in my Greek salad were under-ripe while those in my husband's village salad seemed old and as if they should have been tossed a day or so prior. Chicken in the gyro was moist but seemed to be all dark meat (I like a mix of white and dark meat) and a bit fatty. Service was pleasant. Easy parking. Do not think I would go back; Gyro City near Fenway was much better.

Best. Greek. Ever! Love the greek salad with homemade dressing and gyros are to die for!!!! If you haven't been here yet, you're seriously missing out!

This place is pretty great. I've only had the Greek salad with Kebob and a chicken lemon soup but both were delicious. I think they make their own dressing, it's unlike any other Greek restaurant I've been to, but in a really great way. The beef kebob has great spices sprinkled on it. I wish the salad had more romain and less iceberg in it.

A friend and I ordered take-out from Esperia on a Saturday night and were very pleased with our food and the speedy delivery. We ordered the chicken gyros and Greek salads. Their house dressing on the salad is absolutely delicious and the pita for the gyros was very tasty. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be ordering from Esperia again soon.

Totally delicious and addicting. I could have their tzatziki everyday. I've wondered if there are some drugs in it because of how often I crave it. Love that and their spicy feta dip with pita bread. Their chicken kebab on a pita is wonderful and their greek dressing is the best I've ever had.

If you're looking for good, well-priced Greek food, this a great place to start. Esperia Grill is small and cozy, and I've always been satisfied after eating here. My roommate and I came across this place one night when we couldn't figure out what to eat. We saw it tucked away in the corner and decided to give it a shot. The inside was small and pretty minimal, but that allowed for the staff to be that much more attentive. That night, I got a chicken gyro, which is my usual go-to. It came with a Greek salad that was absolutely delicious and put me in a very good mood for the rest of my meal. I wasn't disappointed with my gyro. It was flavorful and hefty, and I usually count on that with my gyros! My friend ordered the rotisserie chicken with butternut squash, and he was completely satisfied. I tried the butternut squash, and it was like eating candy; that shit was GOOD! Note to self: get that as a side the next time I go. The second time we came here, I ordered the falafel. My goodness, it was so yummy! I've never had bad falafel, to be honest, but they grilled the pita which made the sandwich that much better. I don't remember how it was the last time, but our pita this time around was less than desirable. It was very thin and bland, which was really disappointing. I anticipate checking in here again, and I can't wait to have a hefty side of Butternut Squash!

Super delicious! Not the best drink selection if you plan to sit down. Parking is limited if you plan to drive. Service is good and prices are reasonable

I've been to Esperia twice since recently moving to Brighton and they've been conflicting experiences. During my first visit- I was greeted by the waiter and promptly seated. There was only one waiter for the entire restaurant,- which I'm sure would normally be fine since the inside is not that large. However, I went during a week night and roughly 70% of the restaurant was packed. The waiter did not check up on my table as often as he should have- and I was often left wondering where our food was and where the bill was once I had finished eating my meal. The food was alright, didn't strike me as authentic greek food like I am used to but I'm not sure what I expected from the Brighton area. I ordered the chicken gyro plate with veggies and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were extremely salty and I could not touch them after my first bite. About 20-30 minutes after eating the meal and returning home I was STRUCK with a stomach ache and lets just say the end result was not very pretty. Reluctantly within a week of my first visit I decided to give Esperia another try. This time I got take out since I did not want a long wait. The take out was extremely quick! I got home and the food was really delicious- much better from the first time and no stomach issues/problems. I have not returned after my second visit but I would give it another try- I feel like this restaurant may be hit or miss depending upon when you visit!

Awesome food. I love the roasted chiken. It's run by a family. Prices are affordable.

This place is completely nutbone. The falafel, the chicken, the lamb, EVEN THE SIDE SALAD IS PERFECT. I prefer to get it to go since I live across the street. If you do that, call ahead of you'll have to wait about 20 minutes plus (though it's def worth it). Otherwise dine in, the servers are super nice. Come hungry and get an extra side so you can try more of the food. If I were gonna recommend one thing it would be the falafel wrap with the side salad whoa nelly. Good prices, they serve alcohol, some free parking out front, nice casual but clean atmosphere, definitely fam friendly. Not necessarily a date destination but you'll both love the food at least haha. I haven't actually tried the dessert shockingly but I have to imagine it is insane.

The spices. On the rotisserie chicken. They are so good. The chicken is so tender. I could eat this every day. Sometimes I try to. The butternut squash side is delicious. The "Greek" potatoes (what does this mean? I don't actually know. But I think there's oil, spices, and something else) taste similarly to the vegetables, which are another side option- but the potatoes will take the win in a head-to-head. Overall, this is amazing Greek comfort food, great value for price, and service has always been reliable and friendly. One of our new favorite spots for delivery. I feel like I'm not doing it justice. Try it for yourself!

Excellent greek salad! Good salads can be hard to come by. The staff here are super nice and they had my salad out in about five minutes. Do recommend.

WOW!!!!!!! Amazing greek food. Authentic. A family run establishment that reminds you of your greek friends family gatherings. What a little gem tucked away in Brighton. Everything we have had here was delicious. Love all the hot/cold apps, the sides, the meats. I love it all. I have had most items on the menu and they have all been delicious. My favorite is the chicken kabob on a pita. Meals come with generous portions of greek salad. The dressing is a bit creamy but you better not be counting calories when you walk through those doors...The portions are generous and the flavors leave you fiendin for more. I have had a lot of greek food and this place really sets itself apart from the rest of them. GET IT! There is parking too. Food is made to order and service can be a bit slow. I will definitely return.

They have the best Gyro in the city and the lunch special comes with a salad. Went on a Thursday and there was a good crowd for lunch as on previous visits it was quiet. The chicken Gryo is also very good with nice flavor with their sauce. I have not tried anything else because the Gyro are so good. Worth a trip.

Excellent gyro. I'm from Greece and this is the best I've had in the Boston area. I usually prefer pork but chicken is good too.

I came here around 1 pm on a weekday for lunch. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. While other reviews have mentioned parking, note that it is a VERY small lot out front with about 5 parking spaces. And when other customers don't park in the parking lines (for example, parking in a straight line instead of slanted, like the lines suggest you do!), that number of 5 spots decreases to 3! We had to park on a side street. My friend ordered the half chicken with corn and mashed potatoes (comes with a side Greek salad), and I ordered a Greek salad with lamb kebob. My friend enjoyed her meal, although she did mention it was a little too heavy for a lunch time meal. I really enjoyed my salad--the toppings were plentiful, the dressing was delicious, and the lamb was cooked very well with a slight pink tinge. Overall a hidden gem that I will definitely be coming back to for more!

I LOVE Esperia Grill. Probably the best restaurant in Brighton and that's not even an exaggeration. I don't even love greek food that much in general, so that's saying something. My go-to meal is the chicken gyro dinner and/or the cold appetizer sampler. All their cold appetizers are amazing, especially Tzadziki, Eggplant Salad, Baked Giant Red Beans, Hummus and more!

Best food ever! It feels exactly like a home cooked food. Whatever I've tried was great. BTW, people working there are really nice too

Most of this food has been sitting out all day and just gets reheated. It's super oily and salty. I've eatn here a few times and keep hoping to have a 5 star experience. Nope.

    (2)
  • Tom G.

Eaten here 2-3 times. The food is modest Greek fare that is often pulled from a heating tray. I don't get the raves. I've had a lot of dry, less-than-flavorful proteins and equally dry/overcooked sides here. Cheap beer is nice. Mostly friendly staff. It's very diner-ish (which isn't a bad thing at all, but I don't get the 4.5 stars outside of it being a cheaper, different Brighton college-kid place).

I love this place they have great authentic food that is so tasty and affordable. I love coming here for lunch when it is not too busy. Try the chicken pesto panini so good!! And of course you cannot leave with out having a slice of baklava! ! So good

I had dinner here the other day and ordered the pork gyro while my partner had the spinach pie. The flavors were okay and the service was very good. We are from California and have had a lot of Greek food and I think our expectations were a little high for this quaint place. The prices are reasonable, service was good, food was okay--3 stars for me.

I've gotten their grape leaves, Greek salad (yes, that dressing is worth its weight in caloric gold), and falafel wrap almost every time I've come here, and it never disappoints! Everything is fresh and made to order. Plus, you've got the options of dining in, taking out, AND they deliver. A triple whammy! The service, should you choose to dine in, is good, but it's a very simple and casual place to eat, so set expectations accordingly. It hasn't ever been stellar when I eat in, but it also hasn't ever been bad. I think I'd prefer take out, though. It's just a lot simpler. There's only been one place in my experience that does a falafel wrap better than Esperia, but that's where my heart belongs... East Side Pockets on Thayer Street in Providence, RI (XOXO). But this place comes verrry close.

  • Dan K.

I went here because I saw all the great reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. To be fair, I had takeout, so didn't eat at the restaurant. First, they gave me the wrong sides with my meal. They confirmed them on the phone, and when I picked it up, so I know they had the order right. I didn't realize until I got home. Second, the piece of swordfish they served was pretty small, and overcooked. We also got the spinach pie, which was way too salty.

Delicious! Came here today to try it out. My boyfriend had the falafel wrap platter, I had the pork gyro platter, and we split a small side of grape leaves. If you like traditional Greek grape leaves then you will LOVE the ones they have here. The perfect amount of herbs and lemon - YUM. Also, the large must be huge because the small came with about 8 pieces. The falafel wrap was the best I've ever had...deliciously moist and flavorful. The pork gyro is completely packed with meat and seasoned to perfection. I loved everything about our meal and we will definitely be back.

Rarely give first time 5 stars, but a homerun is a homerun. Place lives up to its reputation. Falafel, on point. Chicken kabob, point. Rotisserie chicken, point. Fries, greek salad, Tzatziki, warm pita bread, point point point point. Even diet coke tastes better there. Sammy 5 Star certificate # B4792

Best pita bread I've ever had! I have my coworkers HOOKED on the beef kebab on a pita with salad, and the rice pudding. Thank you for your great food and service, especially the owner who's always there with a smile on his face. We'll definitely be back!

Everything is amazing. It's closed on Sundays though (so many Sundays I have a craving for a gyro and then my soul is crushed when I remember it's closed) and takes at least 20 min to get your food. But who cares? Run don't walk to this incredible establishment POSTHASTE

love their greek salad--has lots of cheese, dressing is tasty. If you get the chicken, it can be a bit dry have had the shoulder--super yummy pitas could be better gyros: meat could be chewy and/or dry service usually very friendly and quick love their veggie sides

  • Derek K.

We came here for lunch and had a very good lamb shank. The lamb was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The service was prompt and friendly. The only minus is a limited dessert menu and it's a little pricey. We didn't try the drinks, but they were very inexpensive.

So, I had to think about whether I wanted to tell the world how great this place is, or keep it to myself... I don't like waiting for a table... The food and service at Esperia are great. Nice people, and terrific Greek delights... We used to love the Acropolis in Needham, then it closed, and Farm Grill has good food but terrible atmosphere and service. For some reason it's hard to find Greek food this area, there just aren't too many places that aren't take -out, or have really weird service. Only thing is the parking can be tough, it's Brighton, and the atmosphere is pretty bare bones, good service but not at all fancy and a steady stream of take-out-ers going to the counter..

This is one of my go-to places since it's a block away and the food is fantastic. Some of my favorites: Salad: Yes, everyone talks about the dressing. It's light & creamy, sweet, full of herbs, and delicious. I'm just hoping it's not too bad for you =) Get the gyro meat on it! Gyro: When I think gyro, I usually think lamb. But Esperia's pork gyro is absolutely wonderful. Full of flavor. Mousaka: This is my go-to dish. The ground beef and eggplant has great warm seasonings. The bechamel topping is thick and a nice compliment to the meat. The best part is the layer of potatoes in between that almost act like a barrier and segue between the meat and bechamel. Service: Everyone here is so warm and welcoming. Even when it's busy (which is often), I've never felt neglected - especially when taking out. I find when restaurants are busy, they tend to overlook people trying to order for take out or picking up. Every time we've gone in, our order is ready on the counter and someone is alerted to take care of us promptly. Definitely one of the best things about Brighton Center!

so the first time i decided to give this place a go i asked the gentleman behind the counter what was good. "everything" he said. EVERYTHING? i asked. "everything". and thus it began. i've waited to write a review in an effort to be diligently thorough and after a few months of regular visits i can safely conclude that yes, everything is indeed QUITE good. but there are a few standouts. the pork gyro - best pork i've ever had. the owner told me that marinating and cooking the roasts is a 24 hour process given the amount that they sell and from all indications they don't take any short cuts. the flavor is great and it's all crispy and combined with the sauce and the fluffy wrap (i'm sure there's a greek name for this) it's just awesome. the grape leaves - i get these AT LEAST once a week. i brought them to a potluck recently because i didn't feel like cooking. i tried convincing people that i made them but it didn't work. the salads - they make their own house dressing. it's kinda famous around brighton center. you mention esperia and people are like "OMFG their dressing..." and i'm like "yeah i KNOW". first time my girlfriend tried it she bought a bottle. i mean it's thick and white, it can't be healthy, but come on, it's a SALAD. so whatever. the soups - the chicken, rice, lemon, egg one is their staple and then there's a soup of the day. all the other stuff that i've tried has been great as well, but that's the stuff i get regularly.

This place is fantastic. I don't really know where to start. I think I've only had their fish special here, which is either salmon or swordfish (I got swordfish) with grilled veggies and a salad. Great value, delicious fish, and good quality. Comes with pita, which was delicious as well. I think that was all for about $13, and you get LOTS of fish. How can it get any better? They also deliver! Bonus points!

Esperia is a Brighton gem. I've been there many times and every time the food is delicious!! The chicken kebabs and the Greek salad are my personal fave. There's not much ambience to speak of but for a quick bite with friends, the food makes up for it. And the prices are super affordable. All in all esperia is a must in Brighton.

This place is the best Greek I have ever had!!!! Really good tziki (sp?) sauce and gyros! They make everything homemade and are a family run business. I only wish they were open on Sundays which is usually when I crave it ;)

While my chicken gyro and side greek salad was undeniably tasty, at $12 from the lunch special menu, the pricing left a bitter taste in my mouth. I found it to be somewhat of a poor value considering that a gyro is a very simple sandwich to make and that it requires few ingredients. The salad was a bunch of lettuce, a few tomatoes, olives and some dressing. It was good. Actually pretty damn good all things considered but there's no way that I could make this my go-to place for lunches during the work week. First off, it took forever. We were there, waiting for almost 25 minutes for our food to be ready. That's almost half of our lunch break. And we still have to drive back to the office! Secondly, the service wasn't all that friendly. Not only slow but the people just weren't all that nice. They made a mistake ringing us up and weren't all that apologetic about it. They just didn't seem to care. Lastly, I try to spend less than $9 a day on my work lunch whenever possible and this place cost me nearly $14 after I ordered from their lunch special. While I knew what I was getting myself into, I was just expecting more from it. How about including a drink in there at least? No? Really? Fine. I'll see you every three months or so. Not much more than that.

My god this is the lamb gyros of my dreams. Seriously I have never found a more delicious gyro anywhere else. Wonderful layered, seasoned, roasted lamb; crispy, fatty, and succulent. NOTHING ELSE IN THE GYRO BUT LAMB!!! It's so good. Pure. Awesome. Also it comes with sides that you pick, and I highly recommend the butternut squash puree, 3 bean salad, or roasted vegetables. Lastly I got this delivered to Cambridge via foodler. So FYI that is a thing and is very handy to get amazing greek food delivered without having to get all the way over there.

This place is great. Falafel and gyros were great, hummus was awesome, salad was great and incredible dressing. Price was worth it and they have parking. Will be going back.

Got take out tonight. Easy to park and pick up your order with their little parking lot out front. Food was real good. Hummus was fresh. Chicken kebab was well cooked and seasoned. The rice and green beans on the side were also solid. Portions were great. Will definitely return.

I dream of the hummus from this place. Literally, the best I have ever had. There must be Mediterranean msg in it [kidding]. Highly recommend the vegetable plate. You can choose what comes with it. I usually go with hummus, three bean salad, tabbouleh, and grape leaves. They give you a ton of pita with this, so just grab everything with the pita and enjoy! If you love salty, lemony greek food, this is your place. Get your food to go and enjoy at Joey's Bar across the street!

  • Mike D.

The food here is for the most part incredibly delicious, and the only reason I don't give them five stars is that they lack the cozy factor. I think it's because of the high volume of take-out that they do that the sit-down service seems like more of an afterthought. But once I sit down get over myself and dig into the skordalia (holy crap it's good!), lamb kebabs, falafel, or pork gyros... well I get over myself. Foodwise the only thing I don't really get are the hot veggies which tend to be boiled and mushy, so I'd recommend sticking to cold sides and salads.

Super fast delivery The best falafel I've ever had, moist and delicious! Gyro and Spinache pie were amazing as well.

  • Carsen N.

I really wanted to enjoy this place but for reasons I'm unknown, it takes more than 25 minutes to make a gyro. It should be known that dining in here requires sitting down and being waited on, despite it's obvious layout as an 'order at the counter' restaurant. As I had somewhere to be, I simply left before the food arrived, and went hungry. The water was great, though! In their defense, they were very polite the entire time and did not make a fuss when I told them I was leaving. Hopefully, I'll be able to give this place another try (and a higher rating) some other time.

Good - but jeez after reading the previous reviews, I was waiting for a "wow" experience. I didn't rate Esperia til after my 2nd visit. The first time was for lunch and I got a grilled chicken panini. It was good, but unamazing. Tonight, I thought I'd try the pizza. $5.95 for a small cheese is a great price... but really it wasn't worth more. The flavor was just kind of bland. The positives: free parking and a ridiculously nice staff. I doubt you'll find a better option for Greek in Brighton, but as for the pizza, just drive a little further down Washington to Brickhouse... much better.

I can't wait to try more food from here; until then I'll only give it 4 stars. Went there with my girlfriend and her dad and it was great. Awesome service, reasonable prices. I just got a Greek salad...but the dressing was the best I've ever had. Clearly homemade. Had a bite of a pork gyro and it was awesome. Can't wait to go back; I'll update my review as required once I try some more things on the menu!

I'm not someone who goes out for Greek often. Sure, I'll do the odd Gyro and snarf down hummus and tzatziki with chips or crudite at a party (or at home in my underwear, if I'm honest), but I'm not big into the more traditional Greek food. Esperia Grill could have me venturing out. My bf and I went there Saturday prime time after reading about it on Yelp and ordered saganaki cheese (one of my favorites, because, fried cheese, hello!) as a starter. We never order starters, but FRIED CHEESE. He ordered a chicken gyro with butternut squash puree and mixed veggies; it also came with a salad. I ordered a cold apps platter. Every single thing we got was very, very good. I don't normally like a chicken gyro, but theirs was great - moist and flavorful. And the sides and apps were amazing, I loved all the stuff I ordered. Falafel was a bit too fried, but really, how is that bad? We took more than half the food home, and ate it for brunch on Sunday. Prices seemed good, but the total was higher than we usually spend for dinner. However, we did order the saganaki (you really must), and we did get two meals out of it. My boyfriend already said he wants to take his parents here when they come... and usually they just eat burgers. The service was very helpful, but sometimes it was hard to get attention in the moment to moment, and the chairs weren't all that comfortable. Also, parking is limited (only four spots out front, or you can try your luck with street parking). I'm looking forward to going back and trying something healthier, like the swordfish. But that cheese...

Walked in here when I was walking home and needed a quick dinner in Brighton center. I had a chicken gyro. The chicken was grilled perfectly an it was nice and juicy! Everything about the gyro was great. Will return!

I love Esperia. Dining in, take out, or delivery, it's all good. Although I generally go for the same thing--grilled chicken kebab dinner--I am never disappointed or sick of it. The hot sides are great, rice and spinach being my favorite. Also, the spinach pie isn't too shabby either. But best of all, they have THE most delicious homemade greek dressing. I make sure to get a large greek salad every time just for this dressing. Oh, and the staff are awesome! Can't go wrong here.

Randomly stumbled upon this place while taking a walk today. Great food and really tastes homemade. The pita served is thin, warm, and delicious. I ordered a soup, which was good. My boyfriend ordered the meatloaf, and it was so delicious. We asked for another basket of pita just to eat up all of the gravy that came with the meatloaf. Our servers were all really nice and responsive. Would definitely come back again!

I grew up eating in "Greek Town" in Chicago. This set a high bar for me as a consumer of Greek food. Boston has been a desert for good Greek food...until I found Esperia. Mouthwatering Gyros, perfectly cooked lamb kabobs. great tzatziki, friendly and efficient wait staff, this is the place I've been yearning for. If you like Greek food, you'll love this place, and so will your wallet. We can't wait to go back.

Tried this place for delivery on Thursday, and guiltily reordered from them the next day. Everything we tried here has been delicious, but I particularly enjoy the gyro (I have tried both chicken and pork and both were fantastic) and they honestly make the best falafel I personally have ever tried. For how delicious the food is, I feel that it is a much healthier option than some of my other local favorites. This place impresses you so well with food quality that you get upset with yourself for not having tried it sooner.

Esperia serves the *best* falafel wrap I have ever eaten in my life. All of the cold appetizers are amazing, the tzatziki, hummus, and feta are my favorites. The only downside is that they are a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Tonight was my first time eating at this place. The attentive and courteous staff was a breath of fresh air. The food---from the appetizers and all the way to the desserts---is wonderfully succulent, delectable, and mouthwatering. I cannot wait to go back to try the rest of their menu!

We had dinner here last night for the first time and enjoyed ourselves. There is not much in the way of atmosphere but at a modest price point it's more about the food. I thought the tzatziki, hummus and felafel were all above average. Pita was warm and fresh. My shrimp entree had a nice charred flavor. My wife enjoyed her spinach pie dinner which comes with 2 sides and a little Greek salad (she liked the side potatoes; the green beans, not so much). Service was prompt and courteous.

I can't believe I've never reviewed Esperia! This has to be one of my favorite take out (or eat-in) places. We found this place living in Brighton and now that we've moved to Jamaica Plain we still need to take a ride back for our own "Falafel Fridays" or just an easy date night. The food is always good, the staff is friendly, and it doesn't break your wallet to have a pretty decent meal! Their falafels are the best I've ever had, the spicy feta dip will make you giggle with delight and the hummus is top notch. Yay, Esperia!

A big disappointment! Six of us had dinner this evening. Service was OK. The meals were disappointing. We started with egg lemon soup which tasted watered down. The salads were fair, at best, with very little feta cheese. The pita bread was hard to chew. I never had hard to chew pita bread before! We ordered grape leaves. They turned out to be vegetarian and tasteless. I asked for my lamb shishkabab to be "pink" and it was served raw. Two in the party had fish which they said was pretty good. We were charged an 18% gratuity fee for a party of 6. Is this customary for a small group? Perhaps tonight was an "off" night. Would I return? Most likely not!

Friday night, 7:30 pm, my companion and I walked into Esperia Grill. Half full. Waiter/Manager said to sit. We picked a table for four (two tables of two pushed together) at the back. At first I didn't understand what the Waiter/Manager was saying. We couldn't sit there! If he got a party of four he would have to move us! What did you say? There are at least four other places where he could put a party of four. Did he expect a mad rush of sixteen people to come in at any minute? How long did he expect a party of two to be in the restaurant? We would have probably ordered and been out in less than one hour. Needless to say, we left. I am still flabbergasted that he actually told two customers not to sit at a particular table because he might have to move them if a bigger party came in when there were many, many places to sit a bigger party. Rude beyond my belief. I am sure it will make no difference to the restaurant, but I will never go there again (I live down the street) and will tell one and all not to go there. Too many other restaurants in the area. and in Needham, the Farm, is a great Greek restaurant.

I got my first taste of the gyro a few years ago, when I was studying in Austria for a few weeks. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up eating gyros nearly every day of my trip. (I discovered later that part of the reason it was so delicious was that they were using veal, but I digress). Since 2005, I have searched in vain for a gyro that was as delightful as the ones I found in Austria (alas, I've never actually been to Greece). These come pretty close. They're chicken or pork, so don't worry that it has to be veal to be amazing. The pita is soft, chewy, and flavorful. The meat is tender and well-seasoned. The sauce is delicious - I actually caught myself licking my fingers in public! I'm apalled at my manners, but, luckily, my table mate was doing the same thing. She's half-Greek, eats authentic Greek food frequently at family gatherings, and still thought this was the best gyro she'd ever had. It was amazing. I'm eating the leftovers now, which I heated in my oven for 10 minutes. It's still delicious. The pita is overflowing with filling, so I managed to get two meals out of this - and I only spent $13, including a 20% tip. This meal was well worth the cost. We also split a spinach pie. It was a little more well-done than I usually like mine, but I am weird and tend to like things under-cooked, so don't blame them. The pastry was flaky, and the filling was very flavorful. The parking lot is tiny - if possible, you may want to want. Our waitress was friendly, and she gave us a good amount of attention. She noticed that my water glass was empty without my having to ask for a refill. That happens so infrequently that I'm always really happy when it does. Excuse me - I'm going to go finish licking my plate.

I only ordered the Spinach Pie from Esperia...and I ordered it to-go, so this may not be a great review. I didn't particularly love or hate this spinach pie...but the crust really nice and flaky. It satisfied my starving stomach, so no complaints. However, my friend ordered a salad here...and it looked SO GREAT compared to my dinky Spinach Pie... I'm going to have to come back and try something else on the menu...because the other yelpers seem to love this place.

I'm sad to give Esperia 2 stars. The food is really good, so if you want to go there to eat in, I'd give it probably 4 stars. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY from Esperia. I've ordered lunch three times and each time it takes longer. It's never been under an hour and the food isn't even hot when it finally gets here. I called and asked if there was a better time to call and place the order, or a way to get it any faster than an hour (oh and work is only about 2 miles from their storefront) and was told "Not really." Wow, thanks for that tip. So great food if you eat in or pick it up TERRIBLE delivery and not thrilled with the customer service.

This is a great restaurant in Brighton that I decided to come on a whim to escape from the Chinese cuisine I typically eat in Boston. This restaurant is a family business run by a Hellene-American family and I had a chat with the owner. He's nice, told me the whole story behind this restaurant. I have been to this place twice for the beef kabobs. I ordered a Beef Kabob meal, in which you get pita bread, a fresh Greek salad, and two sides. Although it costs almost $15, it is almost guaranteed that the meal will fill you up. The salad was probably one of the tastiest salads I have eaten. When it came to the beef, I was amazed. It was the best tasting beef kabobs I have eaten. The side dishes were mediocre. The green beans tasted like they came from a can. The rice was pretty good though, as well as the corn. If Esperia food was put into one good and ideal meal equation: Esperia beef kabobs + fresh cooked vegetables with tasty seasoning + white jasmine rice = one awesome meal that will fill you up. I would definitely come back again. Hopefully the side dishes will be better, but they will not stop me from coming back. I would definitely come back for the kabob meals, especially the beef kabobs.

Esperia is like a Greek, upscale version of Brookline Family Restaurant. It's a counter service deli/restaurant type place where they sell their dressings, sauces and sides in bulk if you want to buy it that way, or serve them to you on plates with meats and such restaurant style. It's slightly pricier but much nicer, certainly a worthy trade. I love salads so I gotta start by saying the greek salad is addictive. Particularly the dressing, which they sell alone. I've never really had homemade greek dressing before, just the bottled versions, and the difference is night and day. Esperia's is rich, herby, but not gelatinous or terribly acidic. The feta spread is a spicy feta puree that comes with pita. It's pretty good, but not terribly remarkable to me. The Gyro is often compared to shwarma and donner kebab, but I would pick the Gyro most of the time. Spit roasting just suits pork better in my opinion. The gyro is delicous. The sandwich version comes with fluffy pita and a nice runny tzatziki sauce. To finish everything off, I had some greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. Again, the difference between this and the store bought stuff are readily apparent. The homemade version is thicker, but creamy, with a similar texture to a good panna cotta. It's also even more acidic but that's perfect with the honey. I am a panna cotta freak, and I was pleasantly surprised by their similarities in texture.

It is a 3.5 star place for me, and it would be hard for me to bump it up to 4 because I was not too impressed with the dishes we got. I am intrigued to come back and try some of the other dishes, however. The Greek salad was the best of the dishes we had, which came as a side to our entrees; the cheese and dressing made it REALLY good. The lamb kebab had good spices but it was too dry. The lamb shank had delicious sauce, but the meat too was too dry and not falling off the bone. It's a casual dining place, though there isn't any cozy feeling to the place. Prices and portions are both decent.

First of all, my boyfriend wants to make it clear that he disagrees with my rating and believes this place is worth five stars for their chicken gyro alone. We have eaten there several times, and he now never deviates from that order. As for myself, I'm only knocking it down to four stars because I found the shrimp kebabs a little lacking in seasoning. The chicken is insanely good though! The hummus, potatoes, grape leaves, and whatever-the-hell-they-put-into-their-house-omg-insanely-good-dressing are also standouts. Service inside the restaurant is a little slow but all the employees are all super warm and friendly. I recommend ordering takeout and getting basically every cold app they offer.

As a Greek from the south side of Chicago (a place with lots of Greeks and Greek restaurants) I was so happy to find this extremely authentic restaurant. Dishes like spinach and rice, roasted potatoes, and Greek chicken are so simple but so very good. These dishes taste just like the ones my Yia Yia used to make. Esperia is truly more authentic than any Greek restaurant I have ever been to.

I love Esperia Grill! The restaurant is clean, the food is delicious, and the service is great. My favorite dish is the baked lamb shanks. You can get one shank for lunch, and two shanks for dinner. The meat is so tender and juicy, it just falls right off the bone. And even though I don't usually like salads, they make a mean salad that is delicious. Like others have said before me, it's probably something about their home-made dressing, but whatever it is, I'm all for it!

I've lived in the neighborhood for so long, wish I went here sooner! I got the chicken gyro and it was delicious. You can see them make the chicken and lamb, everything looked fantastic and you really get your money's worth. Just a heads up-order ahead and pick up yourself, the place gets really busy and you could be waiting a while before your order is ready.

Excellent cheap Greek food! Beer and wine served. I had the chicken kabob and salad. Loved it. I had this Greek dessert, that was some delicious custard wrapped in puff pastry, name of this dish is very hard to pronounce but it was excellent. Waitress was attentive.

STAY AWAY! Went there last week with my wife and that night we both had food poisoning. The food was also lacking in taste to say the least. Not to mention the rude staff esp the owner who was yelling in greek at her staff. VERY UNFRIENDLY! Would rather eat Mcdonalds than this dog food ever again. I would not feed this food to my own worst enemy thats how bad it was. I was litteraly sick for daaays and had to miss you sons championship baseball game, that's how serious it was. There is a dunkin donuts right next store and you would be much better off getting a meal there than this place. I would encourage any and everyone to stay away unless your trying to be out sick for work/school.

Esperia was one of the first restaurants that I tried after moving into the area and to say the least I was pretty impressed. Esperia has a great selection of Greek food. I ordered a gyro and a side of hummus. My fiance ordered something that he referred to as "greek lasagna" (pastichio sp?). Esperia serves the best humus I have ever had. I think the next time I dine there I will probably just order humus. Overall great place, clean, and reasonably priced... you get a lot for your money!!!

The prices are affordable and the quantity is large - very large in fact. However, I just felt that there was something missing from this experience. I had the Gyro and tried the spinach pie. The gyro has a soft buttery pita, but the meat, while plentiful was very fatty and salty. Each bite just didn't leave me satisfied. The spinach pie was also missing something...I cant put my finger on it, but it just seemed 2-dimensional. Finally, what did it in for me was the baklava; a buttery confection of phyllo dough, crushed walnuts and drenched in honey (with a dab of rose water if youre lucky). There was no honey drench, and the phyllo tasted...well like nothing. No buttery goodness. Sadly, this was a baklava I could not finish.

I have eaten here a bunch of times and I must say it is spotty. A few times the food was amazing, and a few times it was really weak. I'm still trying to find the pattern, - day of the week? or specific items? or something else? If it was always as good as it can be, I would give it 5 stars. But sometimes it has been 1 star awful, and it's like a crapshoot on the quality of what you'll get. Just some helpful tips: The falafel wrap is horrible. disgusting. which is REALLY weird because if you order the falafel a la carte - $1.25 per falafel, their falafel is AMAZING. Also, their 'gyro' is made from fatty, gristly meat. It tastes really good, if you can stand that type of meat. But it isn't the type of gyro I've grown accustomed to from the Greek Fairs in cambridge and somerville, and Greek Corner where they grind up beef and lamb, mix in spices, and then roll it into a giant log that rotates on a heater, and from which they shave off strips for the gyro wrap. I LOVE those types of gyros, and Esperia's are definitely not that kind.

I thought the restaurant was nice and clean. The strip mall has some super skinny parking spots but having a lot really made things convenient to eat here. While I was there for lunch, I had the porkchop dinner ($12) which had a smaller than average porkchop but also was also served with pita bread, salad, and two sides. The porkchop was ok. Not surprisingly it wasn't too flavorful and the texture was a bit too tough. The salad, pita and having mashed potatos and some roasted veggies was nice to have. It really made it a rounded meal. The table service was friendly and efficient. I'd like to try their more traditional Greek food though.

Mousaka was so good!!!!!! The dressing is a must have! when I was there getting my chicken gyro's yummmmmmmy! I saw the dressing but I had already purchased my lunch. **Disclaimer: have only had delivery** What is a group of students stuck at Boston College to do, when they have been there from 10am and it is now 6pm and they are starving? One of them (me) doesn't like pizza all that much (shush!), another is kinda picky, and no one really has an opinion (except for no pizza). Using foodler, we stumble upon Esperia. All of us order the chicken kabobs, with greek potatoes and another side. I was super happy with my spinach and rice. Each plate came with a nice salad, pita bread, and the portions were VERY GENEROUS. Next time I'm in the area, I'd love to either dine-in or get take out. It is NOT the cheapest delivery (pizza, is of course, the cheapest), but much more satisfying.

In the time since I wrote my first review, I've had time to try a few of their other items, which include an amazingly delicious chicken parmesan calzone (5 stars), which is HUGE -- enough to feed a family of 4 on just the small version ($7.95) -- the cheapest dinner ever! And, it's really, really delicious and not too bad for you (the chicken is not deep fried and is tender and succulent). Be sure to ask for extra marinara on the side! I also love their spinach pie. At $4.95, it's full of flavor, and worth every penny! The family who works and owns this restaurant is very friendly, and the prices, plus the quality of the food make this small, casual stop a fabulous find!

I've lived in Brighton since 2006 and never tried this place. It's kind of looks like a little hole in the wall, the kind of place you could walk by and not think about. But first of all - it's hopping. We went there relatively late for dinner and it was completely full, with lots of people coming in to order out as well. The food was delicious and very well-seasoned. We ordered appetizers for dinner, so we got a good sampling of all the vegetarian options they had, and everything was great. Also, get a glass of retsina. You can't come to a Greek restaurant without doing so, and they serve beer and wine here, so you can do so. Mmmmm. We'll be back. It's too close and too delicious not to come back.

Great Greek salads! We had the chicken and the pork gyro on the salads. The chicken was fantastic. And the pork was even better with a crispy flavorful crust, with a moist tender inside. I would like to observe a moment of silence for the best Greek dressing. Ever. The dessert- a custard/flan wrapped in phyllo and bathed in honey was a dream. The owner could not have been more friendly, warm and genuinely interested in the customers. We are planning to go back often and tell friends. The yelp reviews that motivated us to go could not have been more correct. So go...

Had dinner there a few nights ago. Dinner was delicious and wonderful -- prices were modest to boot! Had the lemon rice soup, lentil soup, moussaka, spinach rice, pork gyros, greek salad (with very good homemade greek dressing), and 2 of their pastries. I can't say enough about how excellent the food is. I just wish it were closer to downtown Boston or that we had a Greek place as good as this in the suburbs. Despite the distance, it's worth driving to! I can't wait to go back again.

This place is delicious and affordable. I got the chicken kabob. The chicken was season well and served on a soft and tasty pita. The kabob came with a greek side salad that has the most amazing dressing.

Best greek food I've had in Boston so far. It's not saying much because being Greek I have high standards. Grape leaves: 4/5 Salad: 3/5 Gyro: 3/5 Saganaki: 5/5 Veggie pita: 3/5 Tzatziki: 5/5 Kabob: 3/5 Service: 5/5 The waitor was SOOOOO nice. I love him. I think his name was Pan.

I think the family who own this place might be the hardest working people in Brighton Center. The Greek salad with grilled chicken is really, really good. I would also recomment the hummus, grape leaves, feta spread, roasted red peppers, etc. If you eat in, grab the 4 cold appetizer sampler and throw any of the above mentioned on. It's cheap and filling. I would not recommend the falafel wrap. It was very disappointing. They pressed it or something and it was all mushy inside. I like my falafel nice and crispy. Otherwise, good food, great prices, clean restaurant. Great neighborhood eats.

There is something about a good Gyro. The pita must be fresh and warm. The meat must be moist and taste like real meat and not fillers. The tzatziki must be creamy and garlicy. Esperia delivers on all counts. This past weekend I had to forgo the Gyro (I'm watching my girlish figure so that I can actually fit into my spring wardrobe) so I had the healthier chicken kabob on Greek salad. Of course I unhealthied it up a little with a side of tzatziki and a falafel. Yum! The best falafel this side of the King downtown. Very moist and flavorful as was the chicken on my salad. Their dressing is so good they bottle it and sell it. They have a private parking lot and while it's small, they share with Dunks so people are coming and going and spaces free up. Delicious Delicious Delicious. If you are looking for good Greek get to Esperia!

  • Brian R.

I've dined at Esperia a few times, but it really serves as one of the best takeout options in the area when I don't feel like cooking. The food is fresh and there are a number of healthy options on the menu. It's a significant improvement over the Chinese & pizza joints. Others have highlighted the gyro and the greek dressing, and with good reason. Their prices are also excellent for the quality of food they serve. I will be ordering takeout from Esperia many more times.

Everything we've tasted there has been good. So far we've tried to gyros, hummus, spinach pie (recommend it), and baklava. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. I especially enjoy how they toast their pita breads unlike a lot of other greek restaurants I've been to. Service was a bit slow but it's probably because we came at the beginning of the dinner rush. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating to our needs.

  • Catherine S.

I'm no expert on authentic Greek cuisine, but Esperia cooks a really great meal. Any of the gyros are great; well-cooked to a crisp, awesome yogurt sauce (perhaps my favorite part), and with a substantial pita. I love how they give you a side Greek salad; it completes the meal well, and you're not exploding like you would with an excessively huge meal. The older man, who I believe is the owner, is incredibly nice, but there's another, younger guy who has a personal vendetta against me (yelled at me for parking there once, and yelled that someone was in the bathroom when I was fully aware of the fact...). Unfortunately, that guy left a bad taste in my mouth, but the food didn't (quite the contrary), so I'll be going there a lot--and you should too. Seriously.

I'm so glad I listened to all of the other Yelpers for this one! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I got the spinach pie, which had a delicious flavorful filling. The spinach was really tasty and the filo was flaky and buttery. The boyfriend did the kabobs and was very pleased. Both dishes came with two sides AND a salad. it was pretty amazing and the overall price was cheap! The waiter was great and the owner dropped by the table to make sure we were enjoying oursleves.

I've been wanting to go here for a while due to my addiction to greek food. All I can say is OMG BAKLAVA!!! Seriously amazing. I ate even more this morning and was still in heaven. The baklava has some cinnamon in it, which isn't the typical type, but it is one I enjoy immensely! The spinach pie had a little too muh spinach but was still quite good. The grape leaves I was told were awesome, but I only like meat grape leaves and they only have vegetarian. I shall go back and try their gyros next time or lamb shanks. Awesome food for the allston/brighton townlne. I still prefer the greek corner, but it is too far!

To the 2 people who left a negative review in early June: I think it's funny that you both mention some other greek restaurant in your reviews. Don't you think it's odd that out of 52 reviews, yours were the only negative ones? Maybe you should think of a better way to promote some other restaurant. The other 5 star reviews speak for themselves. Esperia Grill is by far the best Greek in Boston.

Brighton Center has a wealth of independently owned restaurants tucked away between the Dunkin Donuts and Kablooms of this world. Esperia is one of them. Thanks to Yelp, I discovered its existence and wandered over there today for lunch with a friend. I've known a Greek or two in my time. The people running the place are definitely Greek, which is always a plus. I saw some older Greek ladies in the back enjoying a ladies lunch, which was a good sign. I'm not all that familiar with Greek food, but my moussaka was delicious. It had layers of ground meat, eggplant, potatos, and some sort of creamy goodness thick layer on top, with excellent flavoring. I'm sure a large part of the deliciousness of the flavor was due to the high fat and cream content, but there was also just the right amount of spice (nutmeg?). My squash puree side was generous and delicious. The Greek salad was iceberg lettuce... but the dressing was tasty. All for just $9! You order at the counter, but they bring the food to your table if you're eating in. Service was pleasant and the food arrived promptly. All in all, this is a great causal join to grab a gyro, moussaka plate, kebab, or even pizza (what Greek joint doesn't have pizza?). I brought back a menu for my office, and will definitely be returning again.

Esperia is my favorite Greek restaurant thus far. It's very clean and the food always looks amazingly fresh. I love their greek salad dressing, which of course, they sell at the counter. My favorite is their grape leaves and spinach and rice. My boyfriend always gets their chicken gyro which is a hugeee portion. Lunch time -- you order at the counter and they'll bring out your food. Dinner -- Full service. They normally have good specials on holidays too, such as Valentine's day. I'm so excited to be moving closer to this area so Esperia will be within walking distance from me.

Holy tsatsiki batman, this stuff is good!!! The price is perfect, and the portions are more than generous - You will NOT leave hungry!!! Seriously, Esperia breaks the mold when it comes to Greek food... I recently spent two weeks in Greece, and not even the Greek food where it supposedly originates was better there! These guys really know how to do it... and I'll tell you what, the food is only the half of it! Tim and Georgia (the proprietors) really know how to treat people - if I could pick one restaurant to bring with me to the afterlife it'd be Esperia. One item? The gyros!!! Other suggestions: the moussaka, pastichio, lamb... and get the roasted potatoes and squash on the side!

I love this place (except the prices)! The chicken and salmon are always delicious, and their hummus always tastes fresh.

Delicious Food! I cannot recommend this place enough. I haven't ventured too far from their Greek fare, but my roommates love their standard American fries and calzones. As for the Greek, I haven't found any place that can even compete with quality. I would highly recommend their gyros, lamb shanks, grape leaves, kabobs. My favorite item on the menu is their Greek salad dressing. You get a salad with every "Special" or "Dinner" menu order. The hot sides aren't to die for but everything else is spot on. The place is owned and run by a Greek family who are super nice. Enjoy!

Esperia Grill has ruined gyros for me. I don't think I'll be able to order a gyro ever again... anywhere else. I just had the best gyro I have ever had, bar none. Wait, that's almost damning with faint praise if you've eaten many gyros. I mean we all know that most gyros are pretty good and that they're all pretty much the same, right? Wrong. The gyro they served me last night was heaven in pita bread. Back to that in a moment. We started with the spicy feta spread. Superb. I had a cup of the avgolemono(?) a lemony chicken and rice soup. The kids said the Greek pizza, with spinach, Kalamata olives and feta was delicious, and it was still fantastic when I tasted a leftover slice today. So so good! My girlfriend had a falafel wrap that she said was moist and delicious. All brought to our table by a gracious man who I think is the owner. But then the gyro... I said to the woman at the counter, "OK, I've just come through an hour and fifteen minutes of traffic because I heard how great this place is, so if I'm going to order one thing to be totally blown away, what should I get?" No hesitation, she shoots back, "Gyro... Pork Gyro." "Pork?" I think. "Okay," I say. I'd like to give you more detail but I was just kind of overwhelmed with taste sensations. I can tell you it had so much fresh, hot, juicy flavorful meat in it that it just kept spilling out. The bread was soft and warm and toasty and the sauce was otherworldly. The salad on the side was loaded with Feta cheese, tomatoes, onions, Kalamata olives and lettuce, and came with a dressing on the side that was not the usual creamy goo you get on a Greek salad. This was a lighter, much more subtly flavored version that was perfection. Oh, forgot to mention... I don't know where they get the Feta, but I need to find out. It s the king of Feta cheese. The man (perhaps the owner) was so friendly and hospitable and nice despite how busy the place was that he should teach a customer service and retention seminar at the Harvard Business School. Zappo's could learn from him! When it came time for dessert - hardly room for it but just too tempting to leave without a taste, I went back for the baklava. When I went to pay, the man stuck out his hand and shook mine and said "It's on me!" Yeah, just like a heroin dealer. The first one is free. Son of a b... I'm jonesing already. I've already mentioned the place to people I just run into. I'm not sure when I can make the trip again, but pathetically, I'm already looking for excuses to be nearby again.

The food is great and the owners make you feel a part of their family. Although my girlfriend and I have moved out of the city, we still try to get in to Esperia when we can. Their home-made salad dressing is amaaazing.

We went to the restaurant this evening. It is more of a deli/restaurant. Everything is clear cut and the food is fresh and tastes delicious. My favorite the Greek Style Roasted Potatos. Yummy!!!! It is a side dish, but I was in love. It is a great place to go for cheap food in a good ambiance and best of all a parking lot. No need to be finding street parking. Greek salad delicious. Main dish Chicken Kabob dinner great - chicken was tender and juicy, and it went well with the side dishes. Desserts good, but I would go find a gelato place or get something else. Overall, I will go there again as the price and quality are great!

I just tried a Shawarma from brookline and wanted to compare it with a gyro. This is my first viist to Esperia Grill; although I have been there before when it was a Center Pizza House. The place is set about 20 feet from the street because of parking spaces so it's easy to miss. The curb appeal is not there; but go in and there is a nice surprise - a clean and well kept restaurant setup with lots of great foods. I ordered a gyro, a tzatziki, and a mousaka. The gyro and tzatkiki were reat. The mousaka was different from what I recall and not quite what I like. I'll have to try out some of their other main courses.

I have been meaning to try this place for the longest time- I have heard such amazing things. I got some takeout tonight- a falafel wrap with a Greek salad. Only $9.50 and the portion was great! Plus it was really fast and friendly service but didn't taste like fast food. The salad was nothing special, a regular garden salad with feta and one, count it, ONE olive. Which is fine since I don't like olives and I need to eat more salads, but it wasn't really what I imagine a Greek salad to be. The falafel wrap was heavenly. These guys know their falafel, it was divine, nice and moist and lots of flavor. The only problem was that I forgot to ask for no tomato- but that's my fault. The desserts looked amazing so I will definitely be back soon for some baklava!! I really liked the layout of this place, it's very casual but they also have wine and beer? How odd! But I like the deli-feeling where they have the counters of food right in the open and you can see them grilling up deliciousness. Yum! You must, must, must try it.

This place is good, but not THAT good. The pork gyro is really yummy, and the spinach pie is fresh and made to order, but I feel like the prices on some of the dishes don't reflect whatchu get. Maybe I'm just looking for a better deal than this, or maybe some of you yelpers are wearing rose colored glasses after reading all of these glowing reviews. Still, the food is decent and it's close to my house. I'll be back Esperia!

this place has amaaazing greek food. its obvious yiayia is in the back making some delicious moussaka, or pastichio, or galactobouriko, or baklava, or crumbling the feta. the family owned business is really nice, they make a mean tasty rice, when greek is in the mood, come to this hood, get a taste of amazing greek food, its really really really good. they do delivery and take out, call ahead of time without a doubt

I've actually never stepped foot in the place, this review is based SOLELY off of delivery service/food quality...which in a nutshell, is excellent! Always arrives in a timely fashion, always hot, and you can't beat the price. The Greek potatoes are a MUST have in my opinion. i can't order from Esperia WITHOUT getting them. the Greek meatloaf is super fantastic too. A Greek spin on an old favorite.

BEST food in the Allston-Brighton-Newton area. The Panini's, the Gyros, the Spinach Pie, even the salads are top-notch. Esperia would be a 5-Star rating in my book, but I often order delivery and delivery times can range from an hour and a half to two hours!!!. So if you can, stop in to the restaurant and eat.

Everything I have had here has been delicious. I remember before this place renovated, when it was just a regular pizza place, I would order steak and cheese subs, and they were good also. As people have mentioned before, the gyros are different from what you usually get, the meat is fresh and doesn't taste mass produced., and I like the lamb better than the chicken. I've tried the cold mushroom appetizer and it was delicious, it had a vinegary/pickled taste, as good or better as what you can get in a European deli. Also I tried the stewed mixed vegetables, they were also very good with just the right amount of seasoning. The people here are very friendly and customer oriented, they have beer from Greece. The only bad thing is once when we were there late, I heard the owner criticizing his employees for eating too much of the food during the day. This is the only possible bad thing I can think of. Overall a great family owned eatery. I can't wait to try more of the appetizers.

Ever since I came here, i dream about this food. It was by far the best greek food I've had and it was SO CHEAP! We ordered the hummus as an appetizer, which was a huge portion with unlimited fresh pita bread.... and let me tell you, I'm quite the hummus connoisseur and their hummus is one of the best I've had. The we split the greek pizza and the Mediterranean panini, both of which my heart yearns for now. All the food was so fresh and so good and very light. I want to go back again and again. And best of all, our whole meal (plus leftovers) was around 20 bucks!

Huge portions and very low cost. I suggest the pork Gyro. I will be back again and again. This place is hidden jewel. Tucked in next to the Dunkin Donuts, you would have no idea that some of the best Greek food you could have is right inside. And they have great table service with drinks as well. The hummus was so rich and delicious and the portion was huge. We throughly enjoyed our dinner there and suggest it to all. I can't wait to show my friends the huge Gyro. Make sure to save room for dersert!

Wow... must lick the Styrofoam!!!!! I had the beef kabobs- A+ with a delicious side of butternut squash puree (couldn't resist... tis the season I guess) and the other side I chose was the Greek style roasted potatoes. Holy bleeping bleep these were the bleep. I would bleep them if I could. I want to try pretty much everything else now especially the cold apps. Roasted peppers, hummus, spinach pie... I just can't wait! Oh and Wedding cookies!!!! I hope for my thighs those cookies will be dry but I suspect a trend of OhmyGODness to all of their food because my man had the chicken breast and wing with mash and rice and spinach... he licked the styrofoam too. Both came with a perfectly sized delicious greek side salad. BRAVO! In an area with many truly HORRIBLE delivery options- I was ECSTATICALLY Surprised! Thank you for existing!!!

THE BEST GREEK SALAD, EVERRRR. 'Nuff said. I ordered a Greek salad and my boyfriend got the meatball parm sub. Both were awesome! I have to say, though, that this was the best Greek salad dressing I've ever had. Customer service was great - they were really friendly and helpful! I would definitely come back here and try the rest of the menu out!

This place is great! I recently moved to Allston and was craving a Greek Salad. I am of course a self proclaimed salad aficionado, and take my salads very seriously (or any food for that matter). My landlord was kind enough to leave a menu for this place at my door, after I was inquiring about - where to get a good... you guessed it, GREEK SALAD. So, I'm on my way home from work... s-t-a-r-v-i-n-g. My boyfriend was kind enough to place an order (for delivery - gasp! Normally I would never, but decided to "splurge" on a weeknight. And boy am I glad I did). I ordered the greek and also got a side of hommus (with pita bread)- which was fabulous and my boyfriend got, a calzone AND a pannini (he's a hungry boy, what can I say?) :-) I can't wait to see the place in person! I can't wait to take all of my friends there! I can't wait to order from here again!

The dressing for their Greek salad is yummy. My mom loves their chicken. My husband loves their salmon. I am a veggie and love their veggie soups. Love the family who own this place. The mom is the greatest--she cooks everything!

For roughly $8 a plate, you'll get an amazingly prepared greek meal. The spinach pie was warm and crisp and the Kabob in a pita was quite tasty. My only real argument was the "complimentary" side salad. Iceberg lettuce with a single olive and tomato slice did nothing but provide a nice bed for my pita. Be nice to the cashier, and maybe he'll swap out the salad for a bowl of Butternut squash soup. Also, the staff was exceptionally polite. Yeah! On a personal note, the restroom door lock doesn't lock, so don't be surprised if you get company when you least expect it.

Eh. Standard cheap Greek food. Not great but not bad... there's really not much to say about this place. Personally, I think what I ordered (stuffed grape leaves w/ rice) was pretty awful, but my friends lamb dishes looked much better -albeit the side of green beans was by far the most depressing thing I have ever seen. Definitely get a meat dish if you go (vegetarians need not apply)... the gyros in particular look delicious. AND get a side Greek salad... the dressing is SO yummy. Probably best for takeout in my opinion - the restaurant itself bores me.

The Esperia Grill is awesome. Plain and simple. Iv'e been coming here since the Center House of Pizza days. Same owners even after they changed their name. Food is great if your looking for something authentic and fast. I like the lamb shank and the grilled beef kebab. They have alot of great sides as well. I like the eggplant spread. yumm.. portions are pretty big and it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. The service is great. Because it's family owned and operated- you literally have the whole family there working together and they are very attentive. The place is clean and welcoming with an array of family pictures hangging on its walls...most of them while in Greece.

Based on the other reviews either my expectations were set too high or this area does not know Greek food. This was one of the most disgusting meals I have had to date. The service was atrocious, the food was bland with the exception of the hint of being near spoiled. My wife and I ordered very different entrees and found each worse than the other. My advice is to take a pass.

I met four friends at Esperia last night and had an awesome dinner. We started with the saganaki and the cold appetizer platter-- chose the spicy feta spread, hummus, tzatziki and tabouleh: each of which were fantastic! We started to run low on pita and as soon as we looked up our server was arriving with two full baskets. By the time our side salads came we couldn't believe we had more food to eat. Our eyes had clearly been bigger than our stomachs! Salads were good, but nothing spectacular. For entrees we ordered chicken gyro specials, the spinach pie, and the lamb kebab, but after a few bites we all leaned back from the table and asked for boxes because there was no way we could finish. (And we had heard the desserts were great so we wanted to make sure we saved room!) Both the baklava and the wedding cookies (on the house) were spectacular. Some of the best I've ever had. Restaurant has a casual, family deli feel. The owner was very friendly and came over to chat halfway through. Seems like half their business is take-out but they do have servers. It was a great place to go with friends, especially if you're on a budget!

Whatever you do, make sure you get the roasted potatoes and the tzatziki. Their falafel and roasted vegetable wraps are also delicious. We used to go there all the time when we lived in Brighton, now we try to go every few weeks but the only downside is they tend to close at random times without warning so if you are going to make the trip, make sure you call ahead to see if they are open.

I've been meaning to try this place for a while, but never did because it did not seem like a good sit down place from the outside. More like a elaborate pizza shop. I was wrong. Recently I finally went there with my girlfriend. We were both amazed. I'd have to say that partially I was right. The place does not have the ambiance that a lot of other sit down restaurants have. There are multiple tables there and the place is quite spacious. The food is really really good, and the people who work there are great. Unless it is a special occasion that requires ambiance, music in the background, champagne and waiter service (which this place does not), I'd definitely return without a second thought.

As good as they all say. So many options for authentic greek food. I had the mousaka with greek style potatoes, and green beans-wow! So filling and tasty to the last bite. Go early for dinner though, by 7-8pm, they are running out of some dinner options. Nice place to dine alone too-saw several other people doing so while I was picking up my to-go order.

Can I get an OPA? I said OPA! And, I said it a few times whilst dining and responsibly enjoying their greek wine. My name is Greek and means honeybee. I don't know what Esperia means, but it sounds delicious to me. We started off with the feta spread (spicy and cool at the same time) this was served with a stack of warm pita bread. The dining companion got baked lamb with white rice with peas as his side dish. I got roasted veggies (similar to the kind you'd get in a stew). I also got their spinach rice. Everything was great and the service is counter service, but they deliver it to your table. Nice kid working the counter too. Friendly lady in a red sox cap delivered our meals. Beer and wine is available (Greek beer and wine), what more could you ask for? Check it out, you'll like it! OPA!

Great experience every time we go there. If you are searching for authentic Greek, that's your place. Heaven for meat lovers, but also good for vegetarians like myself (I recommend the cold appetizers platter. Order falafel, grilled eggplant, taramasalata). Shares a parking lot with Dunkin Donuts which is kind of small, we've seen a couple of cars almost hit ours when we packed there.

I am Greek...so I have high standards. My sis asked me to go here this evening...I had my doubts, as I had passed by this place before and it looked like a simple take-out joint. I was pleasantly surprised! It was packed with customers (always a good sign). the food was great, not good, not mediocre, GREAT! We split a spinach pie, it was just like the spanikopita I make at home. I ordered lamb kebab plate with Greek potatoes, and green beans. The meat was flavorful, and grilled perfectly, the potatoes were lemony as they should be. Sis got the pork gyro. it was great. I was surprised they use actual pork, and not the manufactured gyro meat that is beef mixed with lamb, and pork, processed. We shared a rice pudding for dessert, creamy and delicious (but ask for extra cinnamon). The lovely server even made us a fresh pot of cafe` we will be back...KALI ORAKSI!

Been here twice now--once for the falafel wrap, once for a chicken kebab plate--both were delicious. Only thing I would say is that it took kind of a while to receive my order--but it was fresh. I just might order ahead next time. Would never have thought to stop in here if it weren't for Yelp. So glad I did!! Update: 6/1/10 Continue to love Esperia Grill. I think it's the simplest things that are best: kebabs, salads, traditional cold appetizers, etc. Things that could easily be mediocre/boring are perfectly seasoned, fresh, and delicious. I love their dressing too. They've dressed the place up a bit recently, including drapes on the windows. From the street, you'd never know the inside housed such a pleasant dine-in space. The staff is lovely and friendly too.

I've eaten falafel wraps here on several different occasions, and each time its the best falafel that I've ever had. For starters, the actual falafel is delicious... you could seriously eat these delicious balls by themselves (I love delicious balls). In fact, I have... but putting them in the wrap with delicious hummus and perfectly chopped lettuce will only enhance the flavor experience. The wraps are massive too. My fat ass ate the entire wrap but someone with greater discipline than I would likely have considered it two servings. Also to be mentioned, is the baklava (drools like Homer Simpson looking at donuts). Soooo gooood. Pretty nice size too. You know how sometimes you get those little pieces of baklava that look like they came from a tasting tray? Well, not here, this baklava is about the size of a half pb&j (cut triangle sandwich style... aka, the only way to do it). Prices are great too, especially for the quality of food, and once you throw in the serving sizes... giggity, eff'ing giggity, (pause) alright.

I've never had a better gyro, but I've never been to Greece. Get the pork, and the salad. It was well worth the price. I was full all day! We had a relaxing lunch and drank some Greek wine with our gyros. I will definitely keep coming back and attracting others. It's a simplistic, deli-like atmosphere, and it is a family-owned business. Though I usually prefer the feel of fine dining, you can't dismiss the addictive quality of this Greek food!

Esperia Grill is FANTASTIC. I was skeptical at first since it's a bit dive-y looking (like a diner but a little less nice) and you order your food up front and then they bring it to you (I'm kind of a snob). But the food was delicious. I ordered the Chicken Kebab dinner. The salad was fresh, the bread tasted homemade, and the dressing was finger licking good. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. I ordered rice and corn as my sides. They did not look good in the case, but boy did they taste yummy. As a side note, you can tell that the owner really cares about the food as it is going out to customers which is nice to see. And the kid who was our waiter could not have been nicer. He was serving the whole restaurant and he was still attentive and courteous. I will absolutely be going back to the Esperia Grill. It's tasty, cheap, healthy, and finger licking good. What more could you possibly want from a meal?

On a rainy fall evening there is nothing better than moussaka. Unless it's moussaka across the street. I've never read anything but good reviews for this place and was super excited to try it. They were very very busy that night with both take out and in-house orders, but I wasn't in a rush so it worked out. The salad was fresh and the pita was warm and light and crispy and perfect for dipping in the dressing that came with the salad. The moussaka was creamy and comforting and perfect with roasted vegetables. I wouldn't mind getting take out, but it's a clean and cute place to eat in as well. Either way, I'll definitely be back soon.

Soooo good. This is now THE place I will recommend when friends ask for a Greek place in Boston. Small, clean, deli-like place with very friendly staff and owner. The lamb shanks are so tender and delicious. The appetizer platter for $10 gets you 4 spreads with pita (the feta spread and Skordalia are awesome). Even the salad was great. They also serve beer (incl. Marathon Greek beer) and wine. The portions are huge and cheap. 2 lamb shanks with 2 large sides and a salad is $15. The roasted veggies and the spinach-rice are the best sides. I will go back very soon.

  • Katie W.

Delicious. Indeed. The greek salad dressing is exceptionally garlicly and peppery, better than any I have ever tasted and I know my greek salads! The spinach pie is solidly spinach, not overwhelmed w/ feta like I have had at some places. My fiance raves about the cheeseburger- great bread and a solid hunk of meat. Great delivery service- nice and speedy.

  • Emily L.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. The Greek salads are delicious. The appetizers are fantastic. The salad dressing makes me feel funny inside (in a good way). The people who own the place are so sweet and friendly. My boyfriend and I went in last night for dinner and saw a sign on the door saying they're going to be closed from the fourth of July through like the 15th and we were upset because we didn't want to have to wait so long for more delicious feta spread and salad dressing. We tried to give the guy crap about it and he said "Too much vacation?! We've been working seven days a week for six months! My wife is gonna kill me in my sleep!" so we laid off. So the reasons this place is great: the food is wonderful, the prices are reasonable, and it is family-owned and really personal. It makes you feel like you're at home.

Yes, yes, yes! Excellent food at a reasonable price. If I lived closer, I would go twice a week. When's the last time you had a gyros that wasn't made out of the Kronos cube frozen crap? The gyros here is made by hand, allowing you to immediately tell the difference from the moment you first set eyes on it. The sides are many and varied and the menu selection is endless. The only complaint I have is that they definitely do NOT put enough meat in the gyro, but since everything else was so great, they still get 5 stars. Nothing fancy, just good food !

So I just had a revelation. Yelp is not just a forum for sharing places we enjoy, but also a way for business owners to self-critique and improve... That being said, I hope Esperia reads this and the other reviews, because I like them a lot and feel like I should help them out... Things you do well: Cleanliness Friendliness Deliciousness Where you could do better: Advertising: your awning says something like Pizza, Subs, Calzones, Gyros. You are so much more than that. Bostonians love ethnic food, and unfamiliar words on a sign are usually enticing.... Music: Not sure what Greek music sounds like, but the restaurant feels a bit sterile without it. Miscellanea: *The far pages of the menu are difficult to read. *An antipasto plate with various appetizers and lots of pita would sell through the roof. *Nobody understands Greek wine, and some more information regarding it would please winos like myself Of course, I've never owned a business, so you probably shouldn't listen to me, and I'll still return even if you ignore my advice.

I was craving meatloaf and didn't want to cook or leave my house, so I turned to foodler. Thank you, Esperia Grill, for enabling my laziness. It was delicious. The sides and greek salad were good too. The spicy feta spread was also awesome, and there was enough of it to snack on for days. I can't wait to try the gyros and the spinach pie. Mmm. Edit: The gyros are AMAZING. The meat is flavorful and tender, and the pita is just perfect. So good.

Hands down the most authentic Greek in Boston. You won't find a better gyro or homemade pita in the city. I've tried!

As a person surrounded by Greek friends, I've tried a few places in the area. I've got to say, hands down, Esperia takes the cake with it's classic Gyro. They layer the meat on a spit and shave it off, the way it was meant to be served. Also, try the galaktoboureko. it's phenomenal The owner, Tim, is such a great guy and treats you like family whether you're a frequent customer or a casual passer-by.

All I had was tabouli. It wasn't bad. I've had better at Azama Grill in Allston. I liked that they gave me way more pita than I could ever really need with my order, though. Maybe it's because I got there close to closing and they were gonna throw it all out anyway. The prices were fairly high but not unreasonable.

Took my (Greek) wife here for her birthday and we loved it. Reasonable prices and great food. I had the baked lamb shanks which were delicious, and I also sampled merrily from my fellow table-mates' dishes (moussaka, pastichio). Salad was nice as were the stuffed grape leaves. I wish I had tried the spanakopita but that will have to wait til next time.

Esperia really surprised me! The food here is incredibly authentic, obviously home made... and most of all, fresh and delicious. If your idea of a "Gyro" is a giant rotating meat loaf (as is served at most places), then it would behoove you to high tail it to Esperia and see what a Gyro is really like. Not to mention the wealth of other delicious foods on offer here!! Also, I'd like to take issue with a previous reviewer's comments about the Taramosalata. I found Esperia's rendition to be top notch -- delicate yet creamy, not too heavy... but still substantive. It is a fish roe salad... so there is a pleasantly fishy undertone to the dish. However, my only criticism would be that there's not ENOUGH roe, rather than too much. I suppose that there is indeed no accounting for taste. Beyond the stellar food, the friendly and knowledgeable staff makes this place just an all around gem. The owner is around and always game for a chat, which for me is just another positive. Keep up the great work, Esperia!

Because their food is so good, I decided to suggest them for our weekly meetings at work. When I initially inquired, I was told they would deliver, even though we were outside their zone, because of the amount of food we were ordering (several hundred dollars a month just for lunch once a week). When I called the next week to place the order, they had a lot of attitude (A LOT), even though I told them I spoke to the owner and he okayed it. Now all of a sudden, they're charging a ridiculous amount for delivery, which was not what I was initially told. Bad business. We ordered from there twice, then decided it wasn't worth the hassle. And honestly, for the amount of $ we were spending, it should have been worth the 5-mile drive to deliver it (if not, they should have said so up front). So... not a good experience.

I love this place. The food is great. I'd come here even if it weren't on my way home, even if I didn't live in Brighton. As it is, it is all I can do -not- to eat here every night. And I couldn't afford that because it costs $9-$10 a plate even at lunch time. It is so worth it though. The gyros are to die for, even the veggie ones are great. I don't care for the Greek salad--but the owner is open to substitutions, so I often get the spinach rice. I love the owners--they are so warm and welcoming. One time after I finished my plate the owner came over to take it and said "Now you can sit and relax!!" How sweet is that? This restaurant is one of the reasons I love Brighton. Update: the pizza and calzones are really awesome! and they deliver!

Great place, great food, great service! The Greek salad is heavenly due to the fantastic dressing (which you can buy independently). Hummus is amazing! There is a private lot but it's small.

Quite a satisfactory little place, with a tasty mushroom bisque, flaky spinach pie, nice gyros. Good portions at an extremely reasonable price, and friendly atmosphere. Nothing fancy.

Taramosalata is one of my very very totally and completely favorite things. So, I get a little excited when I see it on a menu. A little extremely excited. I have had it often at an amazing Turkish restaurant in Winter Park, FL, and now I don't know if I've been indoctrinated to a certain style, because I do not like the taramosalata at Esperia. It's a little too fishy tasting, not as rich and decadent. It's less creamy opaque and more translucent pink. My spanakopita worked hard to redeem things, because it certainly looked wonderful and was an ample serving. The filo was not crisp, but the filling was pretty good. A cross between a deli and a cafe atmosphere, Esperia has a really nice little space, and the food is right there for you to see and decide on. You can watch the meat roasting on an upright spit-thing, and it certainly did look delicious. And the guys behind the counter were friendly and helpful. I'll have to back and try the hummus. That will be the deciding factor, because I am, right now, on the fence.

Contrary to what I have heard from most Yelpers, I think that their pizza is amazing. I also tried their calzone and I was sold. The night I went was a Monday night and sadly the Spinach Pie was so old so I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the fried cheese dish and it was pretty good, but I don't think I would order it again. The waiter was nice, but I don't know what it was about the night we went, not only was pretty much everything sold out, but we didn't get our food for about 40 minutes. Our server was a little off-key, and honestly since he was so nice it was ok, but we were starving and subsequently annoyed. Aside from the slow, inattentive service and lack of food, the food that they did have was really good. It's not too pricey and people are nice. I really want to go back and try their spinach pie. I wish they would work on the service though because if I am really hungry, although I would want to try my chances at getting their amazing food, I would probably opt to go somewhere where I know I won't have to wait super long for my food.

This place is great. I just tried it out yesterday for the first time and am very excited to go back. The staff is extremely nice, and the food is authentic, and delicious. Prices are reasonable too! I ordered stuffed grape leaves on rice and my girlfriend had the falafel wrap; both were excellent. They are probably the best stuffed grape leaves I've ever had. I can't really compare the falafel as I've never had it before, but this was reallllly good. The side salad I got was pretty good. The hummus and pita are soooo awesome, I could eat it all day everyday. I'm really excited to have such a great Greek place so close by. I can't wait to go back and try Spinach Pie, the Gyro's and the Kabobs! Everything looks and smelled so good.

I just had a very satisfying lunch at Esperia. My gyro was all I could hope for, with fresh ingredients and a nice chewy pita. My bf had a steak and cheese sandwich that he said was the best he's ever had. And the guy eats a ton of steak sandwiches. The bread looked like a nice french loaf, rather than the usual roll that sandwiches are served on. We ate inside and the restaurant's owner brought us our food. He confirmed that the place is family run and said that they reopened with the new renovations/menu about three months ago.

Went here late on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We started with the eggplant salad which was amazing! It came with a heaping portion of warm pita bread on the side. It was so good I think we scraped every bit off with the pita bread! For lunch we ordered a chicken kabob and a chicken gyro. Both were delicious and served with a nice greek salad on the side with their awesome dressing. The food was so good and I can't wait to try all of the other appetizers. Everything looked so good - makes it worth it to come over from Cambridge! Service was super friendly and I would recommend everyone go try it!

It's "just" a diner, but you'll have to go all the way to Greece to find chicken soulvaki this good. Strike that, Esperia's was better than the ones I had in the old country. The spicy feta dressing on their salad is addicting and their roasted potatoes are soft on the inside, crisp on the outside. Haven't been wowed by their spanakopita, go figure.

This place is consistently delicious! I've eaten here many times and I am always reminded of why I come back. The staff are all so friendly and you can tell they've created a close-knit community. And more importantly, all the food is AMAZING. I'm obsessed with the spinach pie, try and you'll understand why!

I am absolutely in love with Esperia. From my first visit for baklava (yum!) to my most recent, I've been pleased with the service and the authentic Greek food. The last takeout adventure involved a bowl of avgolemono (seriously, this is the closest I have come to what my yiayia used to make) and the chicken kabob dinner. Although I did have to wait a little bit (it being a Friday night), it was well worth it. The service was excellent (the girl who worked the counter was very friendly - such a sweetheart) and the food, phenomenal.

This place does not disappoint, I've been to this place about 10 times in a span of 3 months. I've recommended to teammates and friends, the food is delicious. First timers, I would try the special #3 i think... its the chicken or pork gyro comes with a side of greek salad. I've ordered this 9 out of 10 times, the other order was a steak and cheese. My teammates have ordered other stuff from the menu and they had no complaints. You'll be leaving full and satisfied.

Their food and service are top notch! Very friendly people, very down to earth and polite. I am very impressed with the authenticity of their food, its not perfect, but unless you have Greek friends like I do with mothers who have the best cooking this side of the Aegean then it definitely is above average. Their service makes me want to go again and again and their food makes me never want to leave!

We made a special trip from Natick to the restaurant to try this cuisine after reading about it in the Boston Globe's end of year best-places-review. We were not disappointed. The food was clean and simple, yet well conceived. The salad was a better version of an iceberg lettuce salad, made better in part by the temperature, not too cold, and the dressing, dill infused creamy concoction. Fresh pita bread accompanied this and the lamb kebobs were honest simple grilled meat with peppers and onions, side of rice and corn (not distinguished). I had to ask for some tomato sauce accompaniment, which made a substantial difference to my overall enjoyment of the main dish. The management should seriously consider offering this as a little cup on the side automatically. Previous greek establishments have always offered this, and it does kick the meal up a notch. Finally, the baklava was an excellent choice for just $2.95. Overall, we will be back, (unlike some other places closer to home in Framingham... that are too expensive and too unreliable.)

This place is one of the best in Brighton Center. Some reviewers didn't care for the salad, but I thought it was great: creamy dressing, fresh, crisp lettuce, onions and other veggies, and feta cheese. The moussaka is delicious, and the sides are warm and plentiful. The spinach pie is delectable, but didn't have enough filling to satisfy me for a meal. The staff is unbelievably nice, and if you eat there they'll bring the food to your table, even though it's not a completely sit-down dining experience.

I was so impressed with this restaurant! I haven't had a dinner this good in a long time. The food was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly, the atmosphere was friendly and the waitstaff was excellent. Brighton is quite a hike from the South End, but I will definitely be going back to Esperia.

If you live in the Brighton area, I would strongly suggest that you pop into this place. The entrees are good but what really makes the place worthwhile is the appetizers. The eggplant salad, the tzatziki, and lest we forget, the incredible hummus. Bring a pint to your next potluck, and everyone will love you.

mmmmmm so good. BEST Greek food in Boston! Family owned with great service. The lamb shanks fall off the bone and the hummus is addictive. Definitely buy their bottled dressing to take home, you'll be craving for more later!

We'd been meaning to go here for awhile and just got around to it. LOVE IT!! Simple, tasty Greek cuisine. Two kinds of Greek beer in the cooler. Service is cordial and homey and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated next to a big Greek family who ordered wine and were really enjoying the whole meal. Adding to the regular rotation.

I'm giving this place 2 stars for the service alone..great food but unfortunately the servers are miserable and act as if they are doing you a great favor to be serving you.Ive lived in Brighton ever since I was 9 yrs old and have been going here for years, even way back when they were still a small pizza joint. My friend and I looove their food especially now that they've expended their menu.Great steak tip kabobs, spinach pie,Greek salad and gyros, but unfortunately we don't go in as often bc of the service..the owners are friendly but the young staff that serves tables are very rude! from now on I think ill only get take out..

Three words: Chicken Orzo Special. It is this amazing dish with chicken and orzo in tomato/cloves sauce. It comes with a Greek salad and their yummy Greek dressing. I licked the container it was so good. I am so full now I need to go lie down.

Been to Greece a few times and this is the closest I have found back home to Authentic Greek food. The owner Georgia is also the chef. She is Greek and does her homeland proud when it comes to cooking. She also makes the desserts! I love the chicken shishkabob, the green beans and roast vegetables. The roast eggplant looks great but I haven't tried it yet. My husband (Greek) loves the roast potatoes. Always get them. Will be going again tomorrow night. Our favorite casual restaurant. Alcohol: Beer and wine only

From a guy who lives in a neighborhood where you can't walk 10 feet in any direction without tripping over a kabob shop, for me to actually get in my car and drive out of my area to get greek takeout means it must be pretty damn good.

Great food. I love their calzones. I prefer the chicken parm. Huge calzone for such a small price. Amazing chicken salad pita pocket. Chicken kebob is excellent as well.

Still amazing, and I'm majorly crushing on the entire family that works there. The owner even came out from behind the counter to ask someone to move his car after he blocked me into their teeny tiny parking lot.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the former Brighton House of Pizza has transformed itself into a top notch Greek delicatessen with top notch prepared warm and cold foods. The taramosalata was out of this world, the fava beans were flavorful, the lamb was so tender it fell off the shank, and the greek style potatoes were tasty as well. Decent vino, great service, and they still offer BHOP's old menu of subs and pizza. A great addition to the neighborhood and a nice step up from most casual dining experiences. Oh our dessert, very long and greek sounding started with a g, was to die for. And not just in your sleep, nope this filo dough stuffed with custard was easily worth being hit by a car or a small van.

I love Esperia. On a trip to Chicago last year, I had some Gyros and really loved 'em - they were totally different than the "Gyros" I'd had back east. Back home, I tried lots of places, looking for that same experience, but every time all I got was frozen low quality mystery meat on a low quality pita with more salad than meat. I had totally given up, and then I found Esperia. The food here is GREAT. The portions are huge, the salads are crispy, and everything is just plain good. There's very few places where I can have a meal for under $20 (forget $10, which is what a meal at Esperia generally costs me) that make me feel content and satisfied after. The place is also family owned, and they are very friendly people. I really can't recommend this place more.

I've eaten at this place a number of times, and it's been pretty good overall. The veggie panini is my favorite...nice and fresh. The pizza is somewhat inconsistent. It ranges from well above average (for this city, anyway) to extremely average. Decent prices and very good customer service. I'll continue to eat here recommend it to my friends...

Used to eat here all the time when I lived in Brighton, and so I had to stop by when I was in the neighborhood. Awesome food cheap! The feta dip is to die for.

Great place - the spanikopita rivals my Yaya's. It's a casual place but they take their food seriously. The owners are really friendly too, they'll probably stop by your table to make sure you're happy. I have to agree with Mark C about the taramasalata - it was really, really good, but it could use a little more roe. The hot sides were amazing - loved the Greek style roasted potatoes and the stewed string beans, mmm.

I'm very surprised there are so many great reviews about the food. I went in for take-out and wanted to lamb, but by 5 pm they were sold out (?), so I ordered 3 pork chop dinners for me, husband and son. We all got roasted veggies and one side of rice, mashed potato and butternut squash. I specifically asked they not overcook the pork chop, but not only was it dry and overcooked, it was tiny. The sides were pretty bad - mashed potatoes were dry and clumpy, rice ok but little flavor, butternut squash was so loaded with sugar that I thought it was sweet potato and I threw it out. Roasted veggies were just boring. Little side salads were usual lettuce, cuke, tomato, feta. Dressing was OK, again surprised that people raved about it. Looked at the green bean side and it was cooked to oblivion- hardly could recognize that they were beans. Only knew that because the sign said so. Overall a very unsatisfactory meal

I hate the Globe for outing my food faves, but this time, the Globe did me a favor in recommending Esperia Grill. I never had the opportunity to visit while it was the Brighton House of Pizza but if the pizza was anywhere near as delicious as the Greek food, my waistline is so very thankful. Esperia sports cafeteria style cases full of Greek delights. I've never tried anything here that was a miss and you can sometimes convince the counter guy to give you a small taste of the food if his descriptions of the flavors leave you wanting. My favorites are...everything, honestly. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender, the pita (I'm not sure if they make it in house) was fluffy not dry and thin, the taramosalata was creamy with just the right zest of lemon, the melitzanosalata was oh so deliciously spiced. Thank you spanakopita. Finally! tzatziki with enough garlic for my liking. I barely remember the avgolemono because it was gone so quickly and the galaktoboureko at Esperia renewed my faith in heaven. The prices were exceptionally reasonable. Two people ate heartily, with dessert and wine but our bill barely topped $30. Esperia must be Greek for tastetastic!

  • Bethany M.

I live alone and despise cooking and doing dishes, especially for just one person, which is why I love this place. For 12 bucks, I get a half a rotissarie chicken, 2 sides and a small greek salad. The food lasts me for three meals. The food is yummy and the prices are great!

    (4)
  • Jesse A.

the gyros (lamb and chicken) are just spectacular...near perfection!! the delivery is not just quick - it's lighting fast.. and i love the green beans, squash and fresh veggies as sides, instead of some soggy fries that i'd just throw away... the homemade hummus is incredible too, and comes with about 700 pitas the chicken was a tad on the dry side, and the pizza is kind of bleh... on a lazy night, order up a gyro and before you know it the buzzer will be ringing and you'll be beyond please

  • Thomas M.

The Chicken Kabob special is awesome. This place is very clean inside as well, they take great care in the back and front of the restaurant. Most everything is cooked to order, so you have to wait a bit sometimes, but it is worth it.

  • Noah H.

The food is absolutely terrific. We had the Beef Kabob and the Gyro Dinner. I personally enjoyed the Gyro Dinner more than the kabob - the meat was tender and juicy, the pita wrap moist and flavorful. However, the kabob was also delicious. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I'll certainly be going back regularly.

Love this place!!! I always love everything I order. The people that work their are incredably nice! I think it is the owner who works the register. I always ask for his opinion on what I should order and he always gets it right! Today I tryed the lamb kabobs for the first time, they were amazing! I always get the feta spread, hummus, and baklava which are excellent!! The rotisserie chicken is fantastic too. You can't go wrong. I just wish they gave you more pita with the spreads.

This place is so so good...know how you love the spinach pie from one place and the gyros from another? Everything I've had here has been the best I've had. The baklava was perfect too, not super ridiculously sweet but just delicious. The family that runs the place is great, especially the dad, he's a really friendly guy.

Esperia is one of those eating establishments that I almost don't want to review, because I'm going to say how unbelievably good it is and then I'll never be able to get a table again. Casual, friendly and family-owned. Georgia is the cook, Tim and Dmitri take care of customers. I don't know how she does it, but every day Georgia turns out this heavenly falafel, amazing hummous, grape leaves, lamb and chicken entrees, an array of hot and cold sides -- when does she sleep? You can order tapas-style -- my fave is an order of falafel, grape leaves and a spinach pie -- or you can get a platter off the menu. I've had Esperia on-site, dinner delivery and catered -- all good, but when you order for dinner delivery leave about 2 hours. It's worth the wait. They open at 11:30-ish (sometimes you have to wait) for lunch. Small 4-6 car parking lot shared with Dunkin Donuts. On the 86 and 57 bus lines.

AWESOME, CHEAP GREEK FOOD! ----------------------------------------- + PORK GYRO: The pork is cooked very well without being burnt. The pita is the perfect thickness, keeping in all the meat without breaking. For $8, the size of this gyro is unlike anything you can get in Boston. It comes with a small side salad that is like a typical Greek salad paired with Caesar dressing. + CHICKEN GYRO: Just as good as the pork gyro; it's just a preference between whether you like pork or chicken better. Can't choose? Grab a friend and split the pork and chicken gyros! This was the best combination for lunch. TIPS: - Be sure to check the Esperia website for open hours during the summer. As the Greeks do cherish their vacations, they will be closed for a month. In 2015, they were closed from July 4-21. - They also do not deliver on Sundays!

The food is so, so good here. Also, try sell the geek dressing. However, I had to take off a star for the gruff, generally surly attitude I've always encountered. And kids are definitely not welcome. Soooo- order takeout!

I mean, everyone already said everything so let me add this: I try to eat here every day. I could drink the tzatziki (sp?)... FREAKING DELICIOUS! EVERYTHING on the menu is AMAZING. I usually get a lamb kebob something (single kebob on a salad/pita... sometimes dinner plate!) I also HATE lamb.... this is the only place that I'll eat it at and it's my go-to. It's SO flavorful and doesn't have that distinct lamb-y taste that I typically don't like. GOOD JOB!

I'm Greek so I'm qualified to say that the food here is really authentic. That being said, you have to eat there to get the full effect because it is simply not as good when you order delivery. I've also had their catering and it was really good. So, good in all accounts. Let's talk about dining there... I've been to this place for lunch with coworkers multiple times. You have to order at the counter and depending on how busy they are they will either bring your food to your table or you have to pick it up at the counter. I was with a large group so they brought the food to us. The inside isn't that big so be strategic about when you go. Someone also brought ice water and served it in mason jars, which was cute. We got some appetizers and they were so good that I ate too much of the and are less than half I of my lunch! We got grape leaves (uh-mazing), spanakopita, and tatziki. These are all dishes my family makes so I'm picky and they were all good. The tatziki was served with decent pita bread and the spanakopita was not at all soggy. The grape leaves were the star- though that's only true if you like grape leaves. Some people can find them bitter or dislike the texture. Those people don't matter. I have gotten the falafel wrap with Greek salad as well as the chicken gyro. Both are Amazon g and very filling. After lunches at esperia I know that the second half of my day will not be as productive. Still worth it. :)

This is my most favorable restaurant in Boston! I've been always so satisfied with their food quality, service and price. It's not a fancy place but acceptable. They have a limited Greek menu but it's super delicious! Give it a try once and you'll come back soon.

Very very good Greek food! I found plenty of things to eat as a vegetarian. The falafel was the best I have ever had in my life. Fresh - moist and with whole chick peas inside. I do wish they would soften the lights though. It's always so bright in there at night.

Amazing food!!! Hard to describe how good everything is here. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table. The spinach pie was light, crispy, and flavorful. I highly recommend the pork gyro. The pork was cooked so well and packed with flavor, while the pita was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pita for the pork gyro was probably my favorite thing about my whole meal here. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I hear they do delivery too - so I'll need to check that out one day!

Both experiences of sitting in and taking out is very good. The chicken gyro is delicious and all meat with the soft pita bread. If you add a salad is $2. It is fresh and delicious! I love Greek salad with that fresh feta cheese. I'm glad the gyro doesn't have too much dressing. The restaurant itself is very clean and tidy! I will go again!!! The kabob dinners are tasty too and very filling. You get to choose 2 sides!

You don't know how much it kills me that I can't give esperia 5 stars!! I am reserving the 1 star because I've only ordered delivery from here and have never been to the actual restaurant. Since service is a big part of the eating experience, I will reserve my 1 star until I get my lazy-ass up and dine-in for once. Regarding the food..... I. AM. OBSESSED. I literally dream of the tzatziki and chicken kabob on a greek salad. They're closed for the next 2 weeks... what am i supposed to do?!?! D: I already marked July 18th on my calendar and have a countdown going haha All in all, awesome food (&healthy too.. for the most part)! oh, and if you're debating between the half pint and the full pint of tzatziki, just get the full. you can thank me later :)

I'm really impressed with this place. We got seated just next to the preparation counter, and observed that the cooks and the chef were paying attention to every single dish that goes out. There is only one waiter and I can't say he was checking on us very regularly, nevertheless we got good service. Food is okay. Also, they have their own parking lot for the guests.

I decided to try this place out, having recently moved to the area. Based on the reviews I decided to try the pork gyro. Fantastic choice! I've never had gyro before and this was sooo good. The pork tasted amazing and was tender. The chicken there is also a great option. I ordered some and brought some home with me. The place is casual and can get busy. Great place.

Just had the same lunch two days in a row and you can't beat it. Chicken kabob pita with Greek salad and it was super fresh, filling, and a great deal. Never really overcrowded for lunch and I could eat here every day. Full beer and wine menu, awesome spinach pie, and super clean and friendly. Can't go wrong!

I love this place. We live down the block and could not function without it. We have eaten hear for 2 years now and our favorites are: - Lamb + Chicken Gyro - Spinach Pie - Any greek salad combo Their hummus is a little too lemony for me, and I'm not a huge fan of Greek-style falafel, but other than that, you can get anything and be pleased. It's affordable, delicious, and friendly. Gets really busy though - service can be slow right around dinner time on Friday and Saturday.

As a Greek that has grown up eating Greek food all my life, this place is money. The pork souvlaki special is great. The rotisserie chicken is also quite exceptional. The dressing that comes with their side salads is something else! A creamy ranch-like dressing that everyone seems to love. If they were to bottle that dressing, they could definitely have a nice little side business. I've always ordered out and delivery is typically quick and dependable. If you want a nice gyro or souvlaki in the Boston area, you will not be disappointed. Go with the pork over chicken though, if you do in fact decide to get a gyro or souvlaki. Run by a Greek family that knows their food, they always seems to elucidate memories of my Yiayias cooking.

This place is so good! It was so tasty that I didn't even have time to take a photo of my Chicken Gyro. I went for the first time a few weeks ago with a friend for lunch on a weekend and when we got there it was empty. I was a little hesitant at that sight but not a big deal. For lunch you order at the counter and they bring you the food once its ready. I ordered the chicken gyro which was a good size and had nice flavor with tzatziki sauce and a side greek salad. A good portion for lunch which ran us around $12 with a drink. The ambiance reminds me of a local lunch place. I had no problem with it as I was there for the food. It was so good I got take out the other night. Again, so good! Best Greek food in the area. I recommend stopping by for a great gyro!

Fun story for you: My father traveled on his bike from Buffalo to Boston, a 495 mile adventure. Where did he want to go to eat when he arrived after a week of cycling? Esperia Grill. I think that speaks volumes about this place. My family ALWAYS wants to go to Esperia Grill when they visit. The food is always excellent, no matter what you order. Favorites here: Traditional Gyro with pork, side greek salad (my go-to order) Lamb shank- gotta try it! So tender and flavorful Eggplant salad hummus plate, of course. The pita bread is addictive... Baklava Greek Salad with chicken kabob Service is good, always friendly staff. I like the family owned restaurant feel. I've gone to this restaurant more times than any other place in Boston.

Really a great surprise while trying to decide a healthier alternative to the wildly popular Jim's Deli. I came here with my little brother after reading good reviews on yelp. The place is rather unassuming at first glance, with a vertical roast visible for all customers to drool over, and fairly sizable spinach pies ready to be heated up at any given time. The gyro, on the insistence of my brother, was one of the better gyro's I've had in a very long time. The meat with fresh, chock full of flavor and tasted amazing with the toasted pita bread. The cold appetizer plate was a bit disappointing for the price; I chose hummus, eggplant salad, mixed beans salad and tabbouleh. The hummus was a bit on the saltier side, but everything else was decent. If I had a choice, I would have definitely chosen the salmon fillet, for just $2 more. The service was a bit on the cold side, but the food was top notch. Food: 4 stars Price: 4 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Service: 3 stars

Family-owned, great food with fast service. Try the traditional pork gyro or go fancy with the lamb shank, everything is yummy. Don't forget to take home as much hummus as you can get your hands on. It's amazing and the pita that comes with it is just as delicious.

Nice relaxing lunch. Close to St Elizabeth's Hospital. Friendly service. I had the chicken Greek salad that was perfect. Tasty bit size chicken and fresh veggies in the salad . I would definitely return to try the gyro's .

Do you like lots of food for not a lot of money from some super friendly folk? Esperia is right for you. Make sure you order the feta cheese dip to start. It comes with lots of fresh pita and a nice spice that makes it more than just soft feta. All of the dishes here are big, whether you order to go or have it in the restaurant. I'd recommend just about anything here.

Yesterday's lunch was just terrific and very reasonably priced. I had the keftedes plate ( greek meatballs) , my aunt the avgolemono soup ( filled with chicken) and my daughter had a kebab plate. We also had an appetizer of phyllo , feta, honey & fig! All were just yummy and authentically Greek . I am of Greek descent and I know my Greek food. Please go. You will not be disappointed. Service was great too. Nice people.

We decided to go a little out of the city on our trip to Boston to try this place based on yelp reviews... To this day we still talk about how good the food was! Tattoos was just perfect and complimented so well with the pita toasted right. Souvlaki, Greek salad, everything here is fantastic!! I will definitely recommend this place. Lives up to its hype

This place has been on my list for a while and I finally got to stop by. Being from Queens, NY I had high expectations for this greek spot. I've tried the other Boston spots and was unimpressed. My boyfriend and I shared the Saganaki to start. Perfectly grilled and crunchy. Next was the greek salad with a deliciously creamy dressing. Next, I had the Moussaka, my favorite. I was impressed by the flavor but also the sides. The butternut squash was creamy and the portion was generous. PLUS, they have parking! Lastly, the bill was under $40. I am your new best customer.

Everything in this place is extremely good. Home made, very high quality and with very unique options. We had the kebab that was amazing and also we ordered falafel that came with hummus. For dessert we had the Galaktoboureko that I have never had before and it was delicious. Restaurant with excellent value. One of the best greek restaurants I have been in the US.

I love Greek food a lot. I would marry a grape leaf. We were looking through Yelp for an undiscovered Greek place, and Esperia Grill is conveniently located for me. Happily, there is a parking lot right out front. The decor is an interesting mixture of casual, with an open kitchen and all the items in a glass display case for easy takeout, and a bit more upscale, for instance, they use cloth napkins. They have a very nice, mellow, bottle of Malamatina retsina, which I highly recommend. It's a bit less resinated than some others I've tried and very smooth. The food is outstanding. I seriously wished I could eat more, it was so good. I had the dinner where you can pick four cold appetizers and had the Humus, Taramosalata (Greek caviar spread), Eggplant Salad, Falafel, and I added on Grape Leaves. I wanted to try a Gyro too, but some things are just physically impossible. I loved the Humus, Taramosalata, Grape Leaves, and Falafel. I'm used to Eggplant Salad with more olive oil and tomato in it, but this was very fresh and healthy tasting. Also, I think they make their own pita bread, it was fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable, very nice people. If you want a casual place with fantastic Greek food, I suggest you head over post-haste

I used to work in Brighton Center and this was my go to place for lunch/dinner. The owners are great and the food is delicious! I usually get the pork gyro or house salad with grilled chicken and house dressing. FYI, they sell the dressing bottled...yummy! Anyways, I haven't been there for a couple years and went there today with the hubby- same deliciousness. Try everything, you won't regret it.

Oh. My. Goodness. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Everything I have eaten here has been delicious from the gyros, to the kefetedes, to the greek salad. Seriously, how do they make a salad taste so good?! I believe that this is the best greek food in the Boston area by far. Everything always tastes flavorful and freshly made. Service is great and I like how everyone always says goodbye when you leave. The only problem is that they are closed on Sundays when I seem to have the biggest desire for their food. Also, if you are looking for lamb gyros you will not find that here. The only have pork and chicken gyros(which are delicious!)

This is one of my favorite places to get food in the Allston/Brighton area. The portions are huge and the food is pretty cheap. Most importantly, everything is so delicious! The spicy feta spread is SO ADDICTING. You can spread it on anything and everything. I suggest getting a pint of it to bring home so you can spread it on your sandwiches. My favorite dish is the lamb kabob. It's perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It might be the best lamb in Boston!

This is the first review I've given that's received 5 stars and it's with good reason. I've been here several times, eat-in and take-out and have been thoroughly happy each time. You never have to worry about whether the food will be good--Esperia constantly delivers fresh, authentic Greek, and delicious food. I've tried the chicken gyro, chicken orzo, tzatziki, grape leaves, falafel--all of this is delicious and I can't wait to try more. I brought some family and friends here last week and they were all pleased. They kept commenting on how even at 9p on a Wednesday the place was still packed and busy--clearly showing the popularity of the restaurant and the many fans. My friend got the beef gyro and said she was shocked at how little vegetables there was and how much meat it came with. This shows the quality and standard Esperia holds itself to. The gyro cost $8 and while most places are cheap and load up their gyros with vegetables with little meat to save themselves money, Esperia does the opposite. The prices are so reasonable and the food is delicious so you owe it to yourself to give this place a try--I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

I've lived down the street for a while and just discovered this spot recently. So good! We got the gyros, saganaki, dolmades, and avgolemono. Growing up in a Greek household I was spoiled to have a lot of this food regularly. You might think that would mean I wouldn't like it coming from anywhere but my own kitchen, but it was awesome. Will go back soon!

This is a solid Greek spot. I had the Gyro and my gluten free wife had the beef kabob salad. The pork gyro was tasty and a classic. I have had better, but not around these parts. My wife's GF kabob salad was really good. If you need to be Gluten Free this is a great spot because both GF and non-GF is quite good.

The apps were amazing - fresh homemade hummus - flavorful taziki - good falafel - soft nice pita bread Attentive service The pork gyros were good although were used to having lamb gyros (which isn't a choice here) Would definitely come back!

A nice place! With parking! Simple ingredients that make tasty meals. The hummus here was really great. The kabobs, came out raw in the middle we had to send them back to be cooked more... They only had one waiter for dinner, and he was overwhelmed, the group of folks behind the counter barely helped him! Would come back here for sure - great greek salad too!

One word: YES. Five words: Yes -- a thousand times yes. But if you want more: this place is wonderful. The chicken gyro is fabulous. Total gyro gamechanger at a reasonable price (the special comes with a basic small salad). The meat is wonderfully flavored and tender, even though it has a slight, pleasantly crunchy crust. The thing about the gyro is that it tastes a bit like the thick pita has been buttered, and I generally like a stronger onion presence, but none of that deters me from the chicken. Also tried the lamb meatballs, which were nice and moist. At first I was afraid when the folks I was with got the butternut squash (I've been avoiding squash after having eaten it everyday for four years), but this was great - tasted more like pureed candied sweet potatoes. I may or may not have spread it on my pita, and felt like I was five for doing it. All of the portions at Esperia are large, too.

I moved from Brighton to Roslindale a little under two years ago and the only thing I truly miss is Esperia. Greek salad is my "desert-island" favorite food and I order it wherever I go, and nothing compares to Esperia's dressing. Everything I have eaten here has been delicious, but my favorite is the falafel wrap special that comes with a side salad (I'm not even vegetarian...!). The food is a great value and the service is excellent. Like any good Greek restaurant it is family-run and there's something very comforting about the overall atmosphere. They are closed on Sundays and for three weeks in the summer which is always heartbreaking when I forget and think I'm about to order my favorite food, but it's just a reminder that this is a special place with loyal customers who aren't going to start eating somewhere else out of convenience. I never crave anything the way I crave Esperia. Now I'm hungry and I am definitely getting dinner here tonight!

Hands down best Greek food I've ever had. I always get the pork gyro, which is so meaty and delicious. Also the Greek salad and pita bread that come with meals are absolutely killer. Love that Greek dressing.

This place is so so good...know how you love the spinach pie from one place and the gyros from another? Everything I've had here has been the best I've had.

I live alone and despise cooking and doing dishes, especially for just one person, which is why I love this place. For 12 bucks, I get a half a rotissarie chicken, 2 sides and a small greek salad. The food lasts me for three meals. The food is yummy and the prices are great!

the gyros (lamb and chicken) are just spectacular...near perfection!! the delivery is not just quick - it's lighting fast.. and i love the green beans, squash and fresh veggies as sides, instead of some soggy fries that i'd just throw away... the homemade hummus is incredible too, and comes with about 700 pitas the chicken was a tad on the dry side, and the pizza is kind of bleh... on a lazy night, order up a gyro and before you know it the buzzer will be ringing and you'll be beyond please

The Chicken Kabob special is awesome. This place is very clean inside as well, they take great care in the back and front of the restaurant. Most everything is cooked to order, so you have to wait a bit sometimes, but it is worth it.

GOOD JOB!

This is my most favorable restaurant in Boston! I've been always so satisfied with their food quality, service and price. It's not a fancy place but acceptable. They have a limited Greek menu but it's super delicious! Give it a try once and you'll come back soon.

But I am taking my little brother for his birthday next week and I will be sure to purchase. Everything is so good here! I love this place. Coming from Chicago you have to find a Great Greek Place......

So go...

I might move back to Boston just to live near Esperia again. Enough said. Best chicken parm calzones & fresh rice pudding in the city, hands down.

Enjoy!

  • Robert J.

Delicious.

I love this restaurant. It has the best Greek salad and falafel I have ever had. My husband has ordered various things off the menu and likes them all a lot. The service is very attentive and quick and the prices are so reasonable.

I've tried!

  • Paul C.

Really friendly folks here with good Greek classics on the menu. It's casual without sacrificing the quality of food.

  • Paolo D.

  • Nora B.

Quite a satisfactory little place, with a tasty mushroom bisque, flaky spinach pie, nice gyros. Good portions at an extremely reasonable price, and friendly atmosphere. Nothing fancy.

  • P'raka ..

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.

For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food.
