it was before Night 2 of the Foo Fighters concerts at Fenway so the crowd was insane and it was pretty packed. $2.50 Miller Lite drafts though. We got a table for two, ordered after a few minutes, was told by waitress she totally forgot what we ordered, went back to the bar, got the drinks and the food came out almost simultaneously Buffalo chicken wrap for my brother and and the Sweet Caroline's wrap for me, both were good, nothing to rave about but both very solid efforts. Would I got back? Yeah, the bar area seemed to have a bit of buzz and the staff was awesome.

Opted for a quick lunch at Sweet Caroline's. Located a block from Fenway, a spacious bar and restaurant with pool tables. Simply ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries. The fries were cold and soggy. I had to pick out the small crispy bits from the bottom of the dish just to get a semblance of crunchy fries. They lacked salt and flavor, a disappointment. Fries are supposed to be delicious. The burger was average. It was a bit small for $9 plus the up charge for bacon. However, service was friendly and they offer discounts to guests staying at The Verb Hotel, show your room key.

Once again this place impresses the hard to please. Great beers, food and serve. Stopped in before the Billy Joel concert. This place has become the go to location whenever we are in the city.

I stopped in here before a Red Sox game. We ordered the boneless buffalo chicken tenders. The chicken was dark meat and very fatty. I have never seen boneless chicken fingers made with anything other than white meat. The dark meat tenders were gross and couldn't eat them. We couldn't eat them and the bartender didn't bother asking if everything was ok. You would think if he saw two people were done eating and had barely touched the one app they ordered that he should suspect something was wrong. But I guess that goes to show how bad the service is. Gross food, poor service. Stay away!

I would give this 0 stars if I could. We came before a Red Sox game. For a place that has half a menu of pizza, the pizza is disgusting. We ordered the pesto pizza (the Monster) and it looked like a lake of grease. Would not come back.

Cold food. All came out together. Awful quality. Awful service. Rude staff. Long wait time. Did not understand the menu. Terrible experience all together. When asked what they could do about the bill they took a minimal $5 off. Not responsive to gluten allergies.

The brisket had a great taste, problem is you only get 2 slices for $13 with one side and some pickles and onions. The biscuits are worth the trip, they are huge and wonderful with honey butter provided. Taste is good for the bbq but the price for the quality doesn't match..

Came here for a date and we had reservations so when we actually got there, they had printed out my name on a cute paper tent on our table. We thought that was a really nice personal touch! Even though it was a Friday, it was surprisingly pretty quiet. I assume when the Red Sox start playing, it will get really crazy. Started off with philly cheese steak eggrolls with a side of ketchup ($9). It was good but nothing too special. For entrees, we had the grass fed cheeseburger with fries ($15) and the short ribs ($16). Both were pretty good! The fries were very crunchy however it was on the extremely salty side. We both got REALLY full at the end. Wish we had some room to try the desserts. Service was good. Since it wasn't busy, the food came out really quick.

Came here with family and my wife just before the Red Sox Game. This place gets busy and has good drinks. The food was ok and had good taste but was nothing spectacular. I tried the slider trio which the cheeseburger was the best one of the bunch. I do like how you can watch the game(s) here and the service and atmosphere are great.

There's a full bar which is a major plus, but the prices are typical restaurant prices which can be steep for some people. We ordered a large buffalo chicken pizza between myself and my husband. Holy cow it was huge! I suggest getting something smaller for a party of 2. Let's just say we had leftovers for a couple of days. It was a thin crust style pizza, with blue cheese, buffalo sauce, and pieces of white meat chicken. It tasted a little too salty for me, which is why I didn't think it was the best. We also ordered the garlic fries. It was too greasy for me, so I didn't finish the whole thing. For the price, I don't think this place was really worth it.

Ok place if your in a hurry just getting out a game. I ordered a pizza which was taken out of the freezer and cooked in the pizza warmer. Prices are resonable for being in the city.

My wife and I dined at Sweet Caroline's one night while vacationing in Boston. We had the buffalo wings and a pepperoni pizza, both were great. Their menu had good selection of pizzas with a diverse selection of toppings for those that may be a little more adventurous. We dined at the restaurant later in the evening and on a night when the Red Sox weren't playing so the restaurant wasn't very busy. Our waitress was Crystal and did an outstanding job. She checked on us regularly and since the restaurant wasn't very busy, had some extra time to talk with us about the area and about how our time in Boston was during our vacation. Crystal has a great personality and made us feel welcome to the area. With Sweet Caroline's being pretty much right across the street from Fenway Park, then get pretty busy when the Red Sox are playing at home. We were going to dine at the restaurant a couple nights prior since we were staying nearby, but noticed the place was packed, both inside and the outside patio. If you plan to visit Sweet Caroline's on gameday when the Red Sox are in town, plan to get their early. We were also told that Sweet Caroline's was under new management and recently had their grand re-opening. So if you see some of the older reviews that suggest that they aren't that great of a place to visit, don't let it deter you from checking them out and seeing for yourself.

It wasn't the greatest experience I've ever had but it's also not the worst. The atmosphere is 4/5. The service was okay I guess to some extent. It took more than 5 minutes for a waitress to just greet my table. Meh you should always greet within the minute of being seated. I asked for more water and she brought a pitcher over and left it for us which a part of me appreciates. The only thing is she didn't even fill our empty glasses for us. My hands were dirty from eating the wings... Other than that everything else went smooth.

Went here for the first time on Saturday night. Never been before and the place was pretty quiet. The staff working were all very attentive and welcoming as well. Always makes a big difference. We grabbed a table top across from the bar and it had a great view of all the TV's (Bruins were on) and view for people watching. The server was quick and informative. They have a great craft beer selection on draft and in cans. From Mama's Little Yella Pils in Colorado, to Marooned on Hog Island from San Fran, Ca. They have a bunch of local brewers like Whale's Tale, Green Monstah, Allagash and UFO. We used our Groupon we bought here. The menu isn't too crazy and it keeps it simple. Too many choices can be hard on me, stressful and flip flopping. We started off w an appetizer and we went w the Dirty Pretzels. They came out 3 warm and soft pretzels and served w honey mustard, some kind of sweet butter and I forget the other dipping sauce, but they were all good. Great app to start off with. We moved on to the main course where I ordered the Grass Fed Bacon Ch. Burger. It's your bacon cheese burger w also a FRIED EGG on top. Never tried that before. Never tried a ''Grass Fed'' burger before, does that mean my cow was a Veggie ? But once biting into it was delicious. The burger was cooked at a perfect slight medium-well, cheese was perfectly melted over the bacon and the fried egg was the icing on the cake on top. When you haven't eaten all day and munch on that it'll hit the spot. It came with french fries which were better than your average fry. The woman ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was served with sweet slaw, tabasco aioli, sweet potato fries. I didn't try it but was told that it was very good. There sweet potato fries which of course I did try, were great too. Glad I bought the groupon here and will again. I'd even be back before a game or just for a peaceful meal and to watch a game. Heard brunch was worth the trip to so that is on my list now.

Had high expectations for this place and they did not come true. First off, there's no indication on the website that they serve brunch on Saturdays until 2. That means they only serve a brunch menu with only 2 items a hamburger and a chicken sandwhich for lunch. Second, the $14 hamburger is supposed to come on a brioch bun, says so on the menu. They served the burger on a bun you would get at McDonald's. When I asked our server about it he said "oh, yeah. Our order was screwed up this week." Which is fine, except I asked him his opinion on the burger before I ordered it. He could have told us about the bun issue before we ordered 2 of them. As a result the bun was a soggy mess on both which is very frustrating to eat. I felt like we got ripped off on this meal. Luckily we had a gift certificate. The steak and cheese rolls appetizers were very bland, and the ketchup they served on the side was an underwhelming and uninteresting side sauce for this appetizer. They had a good hard cider from Maine and the interior looks nice. If your heading to this place I would suggest drinks only and skip it for a good meal else where. There are lots of restaurants to choose from in that area now.

Avoid the onion rings. The fries and onion rings were soaking in oil. The grilled salad is amazing and the burgers were okay. Sangria was tasty but was more sprite then sangria. The atmosphere is good and different, but if there were ceiling fans that would help immensely. (It was hot!) we sat at the understaffed bar, and we didn't feel welcome. Oh well... Theres a lot of other spots, we figured we would try something different. There was not anything on the menu, etc that made it stand out. Sorry Sweet Caroline's we won't be back.

With all the other options for great food in the Fenway neighborhood, Sweet Caroline's just doesn't stick out as anything special. The food makes for okay bar grub, and if you're looking for a place to watch the game, this place will suffice, but there are so many better options in the area. I came for lunch one Saturday afternoon, and it was practically empty. I suspect that the fact that the Sox were away playing in NY may have had something to do with that, but I didn't mind the peace and quiet. I imagine that that's a rarity here, though. Their menu is on the smaller side. I was expecting something a bit more extensive. I ended up choosing to try the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with tabasco aioli and coleslaw. It was decent. The chicken and toppings were good, but the brioche bun that it was served on was a bit stale. The sandwich came with a hefty portion of sweet potato fries. I'm not the sweet potato's biggest fan, but these fries weren't bad. They weren't mushy, which is probably my biggest fry pet peeve. They had a little bit of crisp, and weren't overly sweet. They also have a great variety of beers on tap to choose from. I love beer (who doesn't??) and I enjoy trying something new as often as I can, so I was glad to see some choices on Sweet Caroline's menu that I'd never seen or tried before. Service was amazing. My waitress was super friendly, and we even chatted for a little bit about some of our favorite authors after she saw me putting a book away in my bag that she recognized. Also, a man who may have been the manager came over at one point and asked me if everything was satisfactory, which I thought was a very nice gesture. But I was still underwhelmed by the food, and that of course is the most important part of the dining out experience. So, with amazing places like Citizen Public House and Sweet Cheeks just steps away, Sweet Caroline's really needs to up their game in terms of their food.

Not a bad place to grab a beer and a burger - but aside from the awesome baseball theme and memorabilia - it doesn't do a heck of a lot to stand out against the local bar scene. Still - it is spacious, and a busy but fun place to watch the game. If you want a typical baseball put to watch the game in, that has a feeling like you're in a real Boston Pub, this might be great for bringing people from out of town.

Came here after the Boston Red Sox Parade cause all the other bars were super packed but I was highly surprised how awesome it was, great waitress, cool drinks and the burger was the best I had that whole week in Boston! Also had the Green Monsta IPA which was very tasty!

I'm a big fan of Sweet Caroline's in general. They have a decent beer selection (always including the Magic Hat seasonal) and excellent pub food. The sweet potato fries in particular are outstanding; absolutely the best I've ever had. In general I'd describe Sweet Caroline's menu as bar food that's just a bit fresher and less greasy than you'd expect. As a University of Michigan graduate, I also think it's awesome that Sweet Caroline's transforms into a Michigan bar for football games. (Although on a side note, as a person well out of my college years I also find it a bit too intense an experience, and wish there were more seating.) This is the best place in Boston if you want to re-experience a slice of Ann Arbor on game day. I've been very impressed with the decor at Sweet Caroline's, including the sleek hardwood flooring and bar, and the living ivy wall in the downstairs seating area. In the bar area, there is no bad seat with respect to the tvs. My experience with the service has been fine, although in retrospect I've only ever been here when it's been slammed for a Michigan game, or pretty close to empty. In any case, I can say that the bartenders are attentive and get the job done.

Went there for lunch. We were one of three tables there. The staff were friendly however the food was average, at best. I had a salad that was made of mostly wilted lettuce and old mushrooms. My husband had a cheese pizza which he enjoyed. The reason for a notch lower in stars was the music that was playing - it was a pandora station playing R&B slow jams that included words such as P***y. Not cool.

To be honest, I've never been to a sports bar. I have, of course, heard of their awful food, but I had never experienced one first-hand. Sweet Caroline's wasn't that bad of a place to start. I admittedly visited at 3:30pm on a weekday, so business was slow and the waitress didn't have anybody else to watch. Their drinks list is quite something, which may be par for course for sports bars. The food, however, surprised me. I ordered a Reuben and was very satisfied by both its taste and size. It's a pity how expensive the entire meal ended up being, however. Neither the sandwich nor the drink was worth nearly as much as they charged me. If not for the prices, Sweet Caroline's is a pretty sweet place to be.

I was overwhelmed by the amount beers they have on tap, bottle & can. I don't even drink beer & some of these names were hilarious & things I have never heard of. I have come here throughout various times of the year but obviously during baseball season it's damn busy. I guess I wouldn't consider this a place to come & eat since it's more bar than restaurant in my eyes & this veggie likes options.

my husband i got takeout from sweet caroline's, and while the food was okay, i was really not that impressed. we went in on a sunday early afternoon, and i felt really bad that there was one slightly listless waitress managing the whole floor. this contributed to slower service, but there was not really much she could do about being the only one on shift. my husband ordered the california palermo chicken sandwich, which was $13 and included avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, honey mustard, and a side of onion rings. when he opened it, he was disappointed to see that it was regular wheat bread, the small kind of slices that come in a loaf from the grocery store. overall he thought it tasted good and he liked the honey mustard a lot, but it was not what he had in mind for a sandwich at that cost. the onion rings looked okay, pretty dark and crispy. i decided on the spicy chopped chicken salad with a pickle on the side. it was supposed to come with chicken romaine, bacon, cheese, celery, carrots, corn, red onion, tomato, avocado, and pickled jalapenos. the "supposed to" is a really important part, since it actually was missing the corn, red onion, and pickled jalapenos, and barely had any celery. these were the exact elements that made this anymore than a standard garden salad, and i was so disappointed. it was also covered in what looked to be bagged shredded cheese, and the avocado was brown and served as 2 large pieces. this salad was $14, and i definitely did not get that much value out of it. not to mention they forgot the pickle that i asked for on the side.

I've been here a few times and the food is generally pretty good. I had only ordered appetizers previously but decided to try the "maple pulled chicken sliders". The description led me to believe that it would be a lettuce "bun" but what I received was not at all like sliders. It was some slices of iceberg lettuce with a mess of sticky chicken and sauce. Not pulled chicken either, more like those pre-cooked chicken strips that they sell at the grocery store...awful. There were bits of apples and large chunks of bacon. Honestly, this should be removed from the menu ASAP... Service also sucked but there was a sox game and a rain delay so I understand they were swamped. I'd go back for the buffalo chicken rangoons or maybe a burger but will never try anything remotely creative since you never know what you'll get..

Here's the thing about Sweet Caroline's... Nothing is really that good. I've eaten here a few times due to its location, and I've never taken a bite and said, "Wow, that's good." My sentiment is usually more along the lines of, "Hm... that's not bad, but it's not good either. How much did this cost? $18? Yeah... not worth it." I think you catch my drift...

Went on 8/30, 12 people with reservation...all in 50's, professional people,... service was horrific, a complete disaster...couldn't even get the bill for 1 hour and it was wrong,...they ruined our night. What's worse? I spoke to the GM, John, one occasion, called 3x more and left messages and emailed him 3 more times and he never got back to me. It's one thing to mess up a group's night, but its another to completely ignore customers who want to give you another try. We will go back to the Yardhouse. This place is mismanaged it seems.

I've had two perfectly acceptable evenings that involved time at Sweet Caroline's. The first was for a Michigan football game, which was fantastic. I felt like I was back among the true believers and loved every minute of it. If you're going on a game day, expect to stand unless you arrive plenty early. The tables aren't turning over until the game is done. Also expect a lot of shouting. On a non game day, things are a little less crazy but a recent weekend visit yielded a healthy quantity of bros, so heads up if that's not your scene. Beer selection is good and I've heard good things about the food. In conclusion, GO BLUE!

Worst service you'll receive in your life! I came here after a baseball game and wondered why every bar around was packed except this one, it all came together when our waitress didn't know what captain Morgan or black label was and when asked what other scotches they had looked confused and to top it all the manager when confronted with a difficult situation lost his temper and approached my group of friends in what almost seemed as a hostile temper. Management should take some serious consideration on how this establishment is run especially when sales are so low in such a highly trafficked area.

If I was in the Fenway area and looking for a place to get ok food I might stop by again, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way. The wait staff was nice. For a Saturday night the place was very low-key - I presume the atmosphere can change drastically once baseball season is in full swing. The experience wasn't bad, but there are just a lot of other great places to go. I think a lot of places in the Fenway area suffer a similar fate - they can stay afloat thanks to tourists and the baseball crowd, but they are nothing special.

The best veggie burger I have had in a long time! I was hesitant to order it, but it did not disappoint - so flavorful! My boyfriend had the surf & turf burger and also loved it. They also have a great beer selection. Service was good.

The food was good our server seemed sad and like she did not want to be at work (I mean who does) but she could have faked it like the rest of us. Don't think i should have taken my son did not seem to have a kid atmosphere and there wasn't even a game that day. Long story short I would go back, without my son.

After my previous review, one of the managers emailed me, apologizing for the "less than stellar service and things [being] slow." She explained that they are "actively working on our beer and wine list, as well as the issue with our front door and the cold weather," and that they should all be resolved soon. She invited me to come by again, to give them a second try. I really wanted to like this place, so I went back with 2 coworkers. We started with the Philly Cheese Steak Eggrolls (Tender shaved steak, American and provolone cheese, red bell peppers, onions. Served in a crispy eggroll with a spicy ketchup dip), which were fantastic. There were essentially 3 egg rolls on the plate - 1 for each of us! Which was perfect. Although, I could have eaten the entire order myself. One of my coworkers and I split the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (Smothered in a spicy buffalo sauce, red onions, provolone cheese. Served on a grilled bulkie roll), but ordered it in a wrap, with no cheese. After taking our order, the waitress came running back and asked if we wanted it grilled or fried. I thought it was so nice that she realized we were trying to be good (we ordered a side of grilled veggies, instead of any of the fattening side options) and made a point to ask. They also split the sandwich onto 2 plates for us, giving us each our own pickle and side of veg. So considerate!! I don't think they charged us extra for any of it either. Our other coworker got the Anjou Pear Salad (Mixed greens, anjou pears, bell peppers, black olives, goat cheese, candied walnuts. Served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing), which I had been eying. I will have to get this next time, because it looked awesome. She got it with the Marinated Steak Tips and said the steak was cooked perfectly. I got a nice, huge glass of Reisling, followed a glass of Prosecco - both of which were delicious. To end our meal, we treated ourselves to the Fresh Baked Cookie Dough Pie (Large baked to order cookie, served in a personal skillet with whipped cream, and chocolate sauce ala mode). The waitress said it takes some time, since it is baked to order, but was so worth it. And it was. YUM! The owner (I think?) even came by to apologize for the last experience. So, I understand that they knew I was a Yelper and perhaps that's why the service was so nice, but I also think we were there on an off night the last time. This time was a Monday night - there were only a few other people in the restaurant - and I'm fairly certain our waitress was being trained. Might the service be worse on a bustling Saturday night? Absolutely. But that would be the case at any restaurant! It's not a cheap place, but we decided it is "higher quality bar food" - and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had! This visit totally made up for the last one and I will gladly come back.

"Meh" is exactly the right rating. Not too bad, but not too good... Classic, kinda boring sports bar with nothing magic about it. The food that's the worst for you tastes pretty good - if you go, order the buffalo rangoons or the philly cheese steak spring rolls! Wine selection / drinks selection is good. Had some fun looking cocktails. Do NOT order anything too complicated or anything you'd expect to be healthy or fresh (it's not). Gorgonzola mashed potatoes tasted and looked like boxed, flake potatoes with a llittle bit of flavorless Gorgonzola mixed in. Veggies were steamed or maybe microwaved to mush. Meatloaf was... edible? My advice: come if you're in the area, maybe with a big group and get some drinks and apps. Treat it like a sports bar and you'll be okay.

I...really do not like this place. Twice I have been here (once before a Red Sox game and another time on a bar crawl), and twice I have been less than enthused. In retrospect, I should have made a bigger deal about not coming here both times, but when friends insisted, I obliged. Sorry duders, I have to respectfully disagree with you here. The beer selection is decent (they actually had Founders Breakfast Stout on tap) but the quality of the food was terrible. Boston, as great of a city as it is, is riddled with places like this. What gives? There are SO MANY other great bars around Fenway, although it is no wonder that bars that slap endorsed names on them do well. How does this place average 3.5 stars? Come on. I hate writing bad reviews, and I write very few under 2 stars, but this place just makes me feel icky.

Good was not bad I came in during lunch and it was a complete ghost town though so obviously the service was fast. The manager checked in on us and the other few customers in the restaurant periodically, just to show attention. Overall it was ok, the buffalo chicken was hottt but good, and for an entree I had lobster cheeseburger (surf n turf) not bad!

My boyfriend and I went to Sweet Caroline's because we had recently purchased a groupon. We were quite impressed with their interior. It was down to earth, southern, and sophisticated. We went around lunch time, and the restaurant was very slow because it is a sports bar type of place, which means that peak hours are during games and dinner time. Aside from our bad timing, the menu options seemed extremely appetizing and unique. Unfortunately because we are only two people we couldn't order everything we wanted. The items we did order were the motz stix, the palmero chicken sandwich, and the surf and turf burger. We found that the motz stix were the best part of our meal. The chicken sandwich was kind of dry and the biggest issue was that the burger was ordered as medium, but we received an extremely well-done burger instead. In addition, the lobster that came with the burger was specifically claw meat, which was disappointing due to the fact that my boyfriend enjoys tail meat. Even a mix of lobster meat would have been more enjoyable. Another thing about our bad timing is that it was poorly staffed. And by poorly staffed, I mean that there was one server, who was a designated bar tender. We sat in the dining area instead of the bar area, so our service was slower than those who sat in the bar area.

Came here for the first time last week. My party split a few apps (Buffalo Chicken Rangoons, Philly Steak Spring Rolls, Chili, Hummus) and everything was amazing. The beer selection wasn't huge but it had some great selections on it. Our server was very friendly and helpful and the service was pretty quick. Can't wait to come back soon. You made three new fans when we came in last week.

Jan 12 2013: Want to start by saying I'm not a fussy, high maintenance diner I'm pretty simple and came here in a good mood.. Food: menu is very limited, we ordered the salmon filet- tasty Angus burger- tasty and cooked to order, fries good too Dessert: yummy Crème brûlée: Cookie dough pie: No complaints here.. Kudos to the cook 4 stars for food Service: well to start Saturday nite, 26 empty seats in dining room and I'm waiting at least 45 mins for a table... Hostess is hosting and bussing tables. Just watched 4 people walk out after being told of the wait. This appears to be a VERY poorly staffed and run restaurant. Since we haven't eaten yet ... Still editing for our table I can't fully judge this place. We are here w/ a Groupon so we are stuck waiting. Also stuck here because we were able to get a prime on street spot after a 45min hunt. Our waitress was friendly enough, although the hostess seemed aloof and not at all phased by our wait and observation of empty seats in dining room ... Her explanation " we haven't been this busy in months ... Since the Red Sox were playing" ... Wasn't management aware of the recent Groupon offering. Isn't that the purpose of Groupons??? to stimulate business ... Food arrived in timely manner, at a perfect temperature. Initially asked waitress for more ketchup ... Well in a snarky way she Motioned to the ketchup on my plate and I proceeded to tell her that I would need more... Well it took us flagging the waitress down to actually get it, she was apologetic when she brought it to us. Towards the end of our meal she warmed up. I'm guessing she was busy and stressed. Environment: big screen TVs to watch the game visible from all areas, clean enough, Didn't check out the restrooms. We have to go back again .... I have one more Groupon ....

Stopped in this place while looking for some good eats on a date night with my wife. Service was good. Ok beer selection. Quality of food was pretty decent. Good portions. My wife had the California chicken sandwhich and I had the shitake meatloaf with Gorgonzola mash potatoes, who h was pretty yummy. Not your home made style meatloaf as it was kind of thin but certainly worth getting. Would recommend checking this place out but desert prices seemed a little steep.

Well this place does have a nice atmosphere, and a good selection of beers, but that's it. The atmosphere is only reason they are getting two starts... Jerry Remy's across the street has an even better atmosphere though! We gave this place a try because Jerry Remy's kitchen was closed due to hosting a charity event. STAY AWAY from the food!!! Steak tips were like shoe leather, salmon was burned, and tasted fishy. Service was the WORST! The waitress didn't bring us the water for 30 minutes of us sitting here. The appetizers and the meals came out at the same time COLD. Our waters didn't get refilled once, we had to go to the bar and get them refilled ourselves. We had to get up and ask for the bill, and then get up to actually pay because the waitress just decided to ignore us. Some people should not be in hospitality... and the manager didn't really do anything to help either. And no we were not being impatient, we spent hours there. Stick with the beers when you go there because they don't make those, those come ready!

Stopped in on a quiet Saturday for lunch. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. Here is what we had: Buffalo Chicken Rangoons - They were too small, the inside contained almost nothing. Might as well of had wontons with blue cheese dipping sauce Philly Cheese Steak Eggroll - These very very tasty Steak Sandwich - Pretty standard steak and cheese sandwich

After my last review, I was asked to come back and give it another try. I've had a few friends that have had good experiences here, so I decided to give it another shot. We came in on a Saturday night, after baseball season was done, thinking we'd have no problem finding a spot. To our surprise, this happens to be the place to be if your a Michigan fan, and low and behold, they happen to be playing Michigan St. This ended up being the best part of our experience. The crowd was electrifying with chants, and even a cowbell. After the game was over, the place cleared out within 5-10 minutes, although you could tell the staff was a little off, running around, not really cleaning tables, but not just standing around either. He had tried to just find the hostess to put our names on the list to be seated, and that alone took 5 minutes. Once our table was ready, we were seated. We had one waitress come over and ask about drinks. We ordered drinks and waited. After 5 minutes, we asked another waitress what happend to our drinks, and 5 minutes after that, a 3rd came over with our beers. Again, with the football game before, we wrote it off. After a few minutes, the 3rd waitress, came back and took our food order. Unlike our previous visit, the menu had change tremendously to a much smaller menu, which both my gf and I agreed was a good thing. We ended up splitting an order of Chessesteak rolls, which were pretty good. I ended up getting the Steak Tips, which were way over cooked (ordered med-rare, got them med-well) although they were still tasty because of the sauce. The portion was a little small for the price as well. My gf got the Pork Chop which she liked, although I though the portion was still a little on the small side. Overall, the food has gotten better with the new chef, however, we felt the service was not good.

We came here on a Friday night for a birthday get together. We came early and ate here as well. The food was decent (portobello burger, cheeseburger, crab rangoon) nothing spectacular. Bar selection was good. However being the only ones in the bar for most of the night (maybe 1 other table at times) the service was terrible. Many of us gave up and went up to the bar to get drinks. Not just waiting for drinks but waiting to put in orders. And because of that, I won't be coming back

At 27, this is pretty much the only Fenway bar I can any longer stand being in. Great outdoor seating in the summer, friendly service, good cocktail selection, decent food, fun crowd.

Well unfortunately, I'm going to have to say that Sweet Caroline's still sucks. I really want this place to turn it around and do well, but I just don't see it happening. Aside from the comments I am about to make, it is in a fantastic spot and it is very clean and new. Unfortunately though, the flaws: 1. Staff: I'm not sure if they just aren't training the staff, if the staff doesn't care, or if they are just really incompetent. We were sitting at the bar, which was somewhat busy, but not packed by any means. The bartenders were just struggling. They were also just kind of wandering around the bar with no sense of urgency or purpose. They forgot simple things, like people needing silverware to eat. They also couldn't remember what beers were on tap. We waited for quite a while with empty glasses.......or no glasses at all. When it came time for the bill, one of the bartenders screwed up my friends' bill......twice. Then she proceeded to give them attitude like it was their fault. After she finally got it right she had this bitchy, annoyed look on her face. Very professional. 2. Food: I realize that it is a bar and that they are serving "bar food". However, it doesn't have to be bad or prepared wrong. First thing........just take the ahi tuna OFF THE MENU. If you're not going to buy good tuna, you certainly shouldn't serve it raw. I couldn't even chew half of it. Gross. Moving on.......it would really help if the description of the item was accurate. If it says there's avacado, use avacado, etc. It also helps if the right people get the food that was ordered. 3. Menus: If the bartenders and servers can't remember the beers, you should probably have a beer list. Those were just a few of the highlights, unfortunately. Come on SC's........turn it around.

My boyfriend and I came here during the summer and then I went again for a party. The first time I went my boyfriend and I sat outside because it was a warm night. I like the outdoor seating! I got the portobello burger (but without the pesto/cheese stuffing to keep it vegan though I don't know about the bun). It was ok. To be honest I'm so over portobello burgers, it's usually the choice of restaurants that don't want to be creative with their vegetarian dish. It's just overplayed and so 10 years ago. But I appreciate that they could convert their vegetarian option to a vegan option for me. I opted for onion rings on the side (not sure if they are vegan or not) but we didn't like them. Too much breading and lack of flavor. Onion rings are like our favorite junk food and we rarely get it cuz it's so fattening but we were so bummed out. We ended up giving 1/2 of them to friends standing next door at the Baseball Tavern who were there for a show and then just wasted the other half. I got a beer and my boyfriend got a coke. I came back here again for a party and I appreciate the chef making vegan options available - portobello burgers (though they forgot to take the pesto off which has parmasian cheese in it) and a hummus plate. The head chef seems really friendly and very accomodoating when I gave him suggestions so I hope he tweaks his menu to make it more exciting for us vgetarians and vegans!

Very interesting that my review is considered by yelp to be 'not helpful' Do yourself a favor and read all the 'non important' reviews. I think you will find that they offer the true view of Sweet Carolines. Stay away, unless it is for a beer and NO WHERE else is available

Fish & Chips ($14): Fresh fish, but prep could improve. Too much breading, and too soggy. Soggy fries as well. Decent portion size. Grilled Salmon Fillet ($17): fish didn't taste fresh, but frozen. Eggplant had good flavor but don't think they prepare this either...it tasted more like it was from a jar of baba ganoush. Small portion size. Absolutely a rip-off at $17.

We were in from out of town and ended up getting stuck in a blizzard and getting a cab back to our hotel was...not in the cards for awhile. We wandered into Sweet Caroline's. The service was wonderful, very attentive, the hummus was...bland and not recommended. However, we got the lobster roll and the spareribs. I tasted the inside of the lobster roll and it was delish with big chunks of lobster. The spareribs were tender, the gravy awesome, and the vegetables fresh. They were so gracious and told us we could hang out as long as we wanted waiting for a cab.

Went for dinner 2 1/2 hours before a Red Sox game. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait, but we ended up waiting almost an hour for a table, even though there were 5 empty tables that just hadn't been cleared. Took another 20 minutes to order, and when the food finally came we had to wait another 10 just for silverware. The food was ok and service would probably be fine on a slower night but I would not recommend going when it's busy. They clearly don't know how to manage their staff on busy nights.

Great restaurant and bar located next to Fenway Park! My husband had the BBQ Bacon & Cheddar Burger with onion rings while I had the New York Grilled Chicken Club with a salad. Both were delicious! The burger was cooked perfectly to my husband's request. The chicken in my sandwich was not dry like many times grilled chicken can be. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive as needed (my water was never empty).

My boyfriend and I went to Sweet Caroline's because there was a Groupon available. In general, the food was ok, but nothing special. I had the cheeseburger and he had the ruben sandwich, and we split the buffalo chicken rangoons and the cookie dough pie. The burger was way overcooked--I asked for medium and it came back well-done. The ruben was ok, and the rangoons were not very impressive. The best part of the meal was the pie; it's warm and gooey, and pretty delicious. Overall, the food was nothing special, relatively expensive for what it is, and the service was not great. It took a really long time to get our food (and the appetizer came out at the same time as the entrees). We wanted over 10 minutes to get the dessert too. I'd only really recommend going to the place for the cookie dough pie and maybe a few drinks.

The salad descriptions don't match up to the menu descriptions. No avocado on. 2 salads and the tiniest amount of chicken humanly possible on the salads. Clam chowder was very good, service was cold and indifferent. One and done for us here.

Stopped in on a slow Wednesday late afternoon(5/16/12) and ate at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive. They had UFO White on tap. Looking great so far... Ordered the Cobb salad. Added the grilled veggies($3.99) I enjoyed the Cobb. Again, were doing good here people. The veggies: Separate plate. Carrots were fine but the green beans were undercooked. Ate a few and left the rest. Not the end of the world. I mentioned this at the end when I was asked "how was everything." Manager on duty comes out and asks me 2 separate times what was wrong with the veggies. In other words he reconfirms that I feel they were undercooked once at the start of the conversation and once at the end. Then he says "I'm gonna half that for you does that sound good." I laughed and said "sounds great" because why escalate a discussion over $2. Sweet Caroline's takes $2 off and keeps $2 for the undercooked veggies. BIG WIN for Sweet Caroline's. I tipped the bartender 50% and will never to eat there again with so many choices in the neighborhood. There is nothing worse than petty. Yes I will drink your beer but if there is resistance and a serious conversation over a poorly done $4 menu add on, why would I take friends there when they visit me in the neighborhood this summer...That's what happned on a $15 dinner tab, i'm going to come back and spend $200 on dinner with friends? No way. My advice: Apologize for the undercooked $4 menu add on, deduct it from the check, and move on.

Honestly- this was one of the worst dinners I've had in a long time. The food was way overpriced, and the quality was very very very poor. I ordered a side salad and chicken fingers, thinking that would be a safe bet, but the salad was soggy and the chicken was shriveled and dry. I would have returned the food but at that point I was so frustrated with the experience that I just wanted to get out of there. I would stick to getting drinks only.

I've been to this place a few times, I guess it's now my go to place in the Fenway. A good beer selection, friendly staff, cool decor, and a nice TV setup to watch the games. I wouldn't call the crowd upscale, but they seem to keep the low lifes out. Except for me, of course. Now for the food. Maybe I'm in a rut, but it's very hard for me to pick up the menu and pass by the bacon burger. A nice burger, covered in bacon and blue cheese. Terrible for my arteries, but oh boy does it taste good. Fries are good, not great, but good enough. The California Chicken sandwich is lighter and very good, they don't overdue it on the avocado as some places do. I know people rave about the buffalo chicken rangoons, I've had them and they weren't bad, maybe my expectations were too high. I was much more impressed with the Philly Cheese Steak Egg rolls. Overall it's a good place. The food is just plain good, but the friendly staff makes it a place worth returning to.

We usually eat at "the place across the street," but they had a longer wait and we needed to be at the game soon so we opted to take the short walk, and we weren't disappointed. We got steak nachos which were really great. They were made with fresh ingredients and real cheese, which I love. The guac /sour cream was a little stingy, though. We also shared a chicken salad wrap, which was a little bland, but not terrible, just needed a little salt, no biggie. The waitress was not overly friendly, but attentive enough that she wasn't pushy. It wouldn't be my first choice but we'd definitely recommend.

I made reservations for my group and they did have tables reserved which we very much appreciated. However it took 25 minutes for us to get drinks and over 50 minutes to get appetizers. I received my chicken salad sandwich 8 minutes after any of the 7 friends I was eating with at this restaurant. Overall our meals arrived over a span of 16 minutes from first one served to last one served and the first one was served 85 minutes after arrival and over 1 hour after ordering. The food was OK but the poor service ruined the whole gathering. We all questioned how a chicken salad sandwich came out after multiple burgers and steak sandwiches??? It is simply illogical and unfortunately speaks to poor kitchen organization and poor service as no apologies or reasons for this poor service were ever given. The menu has a great variety but loses it luster when one cannot get food in a reasonable time at lunch. Makes me shudder to think what might happen if at a dinner.

Stopped by here while on a bar crawl. Had a burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was good fries were amazing. Just a tad bit pricey. Our waitress was also very attentive which I wouldn't have expected given the number of people that were there. The place was also larger than I was expecting, clean and nicely decorated.

For the half hour we were here for a quick bite to eat, we loved it. It's wicked nice inside and the bartender was SO nice and personable. The food was delicious and is all made fresh (what a surprise for a Boston bar!) We'll definitely be back.

We stopped in for a late lunch between the Fenway Tour and the night game. Given that it was empty when we arrived, we were surprised that it took some time to place an order for lunch. Sandra ordered the seasonal local brewed stout on the menu, and was surprised to see an amber ale show up. After waiting 15 minutes, she started sipping it. I ended up walking to the top bar to ask the bartender about the beer on the menu being different from what showed up, and he said he'd get the waitress. She said the stout was seasonal, and shouldn't have been on the menu, apologized, then brought the menu back, so she could order another. I had a sprite that was empty and even though she returned, I had to ask for it to be refilled. Our food arrived, and it was all right. I had a burger, Sandra got a sandwich. Her sandwich was better than my burger. Robert ate off both of our plates. Even though we sent the wrong beer back, ir showed up on our bill! When we asked about it, we were told it was half-way consumed, so we were being charged for it. It was half-way consumed because it was a hot day, we were not given waters, and it took almost 20 minutes for another drink to show up! The place looks nice, tv's everywhere (that tend to play the same 3 stations) it has a great name given it's location, but it's not worth it. Walk around to the other side of Fenway and hit up Boston Beer Works. WAY better in all aspects.

I have been to Sweet Carolines a number of times and am not an avid Yelper. . but I have to say - this place is awesome. It is HUGE! There are so many tables and two bars - so, even on a Sox game night there's plenty of room. AND tons of TVs so you can watch Sox, Celtics and more - all at the same time. It's very well designed and decorated. It's a very comfortable environment for dinner with your man or drinks with your girls! I usually have a vodka or rum drink and have been pleased every time. They also seem to have a vast selection of beers, though not my beverage of choice. The food is awesome. I've had several different apps (Buffalo Chicken Rangoon, Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Ahi Tuna). Each was very flavorful, tasty and fresh. Yum, yum, gimme some! I've had the Pear Salad with Grilled Shrimp - fab! And the Steak tips with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes - mmmm. I've had a burger - and it was cooked just to my liking. All this - and there's a convenient lot right next door ($8/night) - which is pretty reasonable in town. I hope you enjoy Sweet Carolines as much as I did/do/will.

I am willing to give this place another try in a few months since it's rather new, but, for now, it's getting 3 stars. It's totally OK, but nothing super special. Our waitress was awesome, which seems rare lately. Bonus points for that. The hostess staff was also great. The menu is basic American food, there was also a nice variety of suggested cocktails and beers (but no prices on the beers which I find a bit annoying). The atmosphere, which everyone else seems to love, struck us all as if the restaurant had intended to be a Rainforest Cafe, but lost funding, then Sweet Carolines took over and never changed the decor... As for food, the spinach and artichoke dip was really delicious. The homemade pita chips with it were really greasy though. We all had burgers. I found mine to be really, really charred (and I did not get the blackened one). The burnt flavor overwhelmed every other flavor on the burger (like I couldn't taste the cheese or the sauce). Next time, I will not be getting a burger. It was also super dry (and I got it cooked medium rare...) The fries were crisp and delicious though! I also think you can get sweet potato without an upcharge, which is cool. Overall, it was OK!

Due to a miscommunication too boring to explain, I ended up with two of the same drink at once. Instead of offering to take one back, the waitress said, "Well, now you have two!" Stuff was overpriced. Really big TVs, though.

As a UM fan, I came here for the Michigan-Michigan State game. Great apps - we had the Philly Cheese Egg Rolls & Buffalo Chix Rangoon - perfect for gameday. Great selection of draft beers. Service was great too. The owner was cheerful and attentive to his customers. Highly recommended gameday destination.

Ive been coming here through the transitions, this is a decent spillover location, ive never seen it full, and the place is massive.. The buildout is great, ambience very appropriate for its theme, food is mostly IQF (frozen deep fryer stuff) and some fresh items. I hope is properly capitalized otherwise it'll only be around another season.. This isnt charity, but they are worth a try, let them earn a return visit.. Id choose them over a line across the street anyday..

Went with 3 work associates on 1/9/13 after hitting Remys across the street and reading bad things about Remys food on yelp. Sweet Caroline's was written up much better. Beer selection at both were extensive. The menu at Sweet Caroline's was pretty limited. The food was good. The four of us ordered the salmon. They only had 3 left. I opted for the Cobb salad. I got the better end of the deal. I was told the salmon was good. The salad was also good and fresh. We had apple crisps for dessert. i am an apple crisp snob. this did not rate up there because the sauce was not thick enough. I would not run back, but I'd give them my business again if there weren't so many other places to check out in the area . Service was good.

Grabbed dinner here on a Wednesday night. Service was extremely friendly! I thought the menu had enough choices without being overwhelming. Their dishes are classic and not fussy, but many have a nice twist (eg Buffalo chicken ragoons or the Reuben burger). I liked the setup and the ambiance. There weren't a million TVs like a lot of sportsy restaurants, so that was nice. The huge windows at the front and the wall of plants are a nice touch. It wasn't very busy, so our food came out in no time. We got nachos as an appetizer. All the sauces came on the side, so they weren't the least bit soggy. Both of us really enjoyed them. I got the ceasar wrap with shrimp and sweet potato fries. The shrimp was perfectly grilled, not overcooked and not rubbery, and it tasted great! The wrap itself wasn't dripping with dressing, which is a common problem with ceasar wraps. The fries were excellent! My boyfriend got the Reuben burger, which he was extremely happy with (it looked really juicy and cooked properly), as well as regular fries, which were also quite good. I had absolutely no complaints about the meal. I just wish I'd tried a drink because they had a couple creative ones that sounded good. Maybe next time. I will definitely be back! So basically this place is perfect for what it is--casual, non-fussy American fare that will leave you full without spending absurd amounts of money.

We had a great experience here. We were watching the Pats and other games and stayed for hours. I had salmon on kale and loved it. My husband had a nice steak and cheese. My son had a grilled chicken sandwich. All satisfying. We loved the Caesar salad. The chef makes the dressing. We would go back for sure.

A-OK. Went here last night just based on the high yelp score, and found out it just opened about a month ago. The place looks cool inside, and our waitress was nice. The food had great flavor and beat my expectations. There were little things though, that leave room for improvement. A couple orders were slightly wrong and some pieces of the steak tips one of my friends got were so chewy he couldn't eat them. I'll definitely be going back though, and once a few kinks are worked out, I'm sure I'll give it a higher score.

I want to give a HUGE thank you to all the amazing staff at Sweet Caroline's. Last night they hosted our fundraiser for Special Olympics and it was the perfect venue. Kim, the event planner, was great! From beginning to end helping us set up and get the space read for us to helping us manage when to order more food and checking in to make sure that everything was going OK and if they could do anything to help! Thanks Kim! The space is great! Love the reclaimed wood on the back of the lower level bar and the half moon shape bar top was perfect for our event. The living "Green Monster" (like a wall covered in plants with their own irrigation system and UV lights!) with the projection screens over it displaying the Bruins game was the perfect back drop for our event. We could not have been happier. We had a great bartender, Glinda, who was just as excited as we were to hold the event. LOVED that they still had Shipyard Pumpkin on tap! Additionally they had great food--we got three appetizer platters with Buffalo Rangoons (this has to be a the most amazing combination ever created), Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls, Stuffed Mushrooms, and BBQ and Buffalo wings. All were a big hit with our supporters. We could not have been any happier to have held our fundraiser here and they will most definitely the place we hold our next event!

Worst service I have experienced in years. We stopped in for a drink and bite to eat before the Red Sox/Yankees game on September 15th. Never having been to Fenway, Sweet Caroline's looked as good as any. We wandered into the bar where my husband stood at the bar for at least twenty minutes before he could get a drink order in. Meanwhile I waited in the bar area where the cocktail waitress passed me several times. When I finally caught her attention and asked if we could order from her, she said she would have to ask her manager as the area was only supposed to be for four people. After getting our drinks from the bartender, we managed to get two open seats at the bar. We were hungry and wanted to order some nachos, but despite our patience and trying to signal the bartender, Pam, we got no further service. That went on for another twenty minutes. We should have just asked for a table in the restaurant. Pam waited on several other people who came in long after us. When the last customer walked up to the bar and got her attention right away, that's when we decided to leave. I should have checked Yelp before we wandered into this restaurant. I see that many others have rated it poorly as well. I'll know better next time Avoid Sweet Caroline's if you want to be treated with good customer service.

I came here with my boyfriend last weekend. It was perfect for what we wanted. Just a casual bar to watch the Celtics game. The service was good, however the place was empty and it was a Friday night. There were maybe 5 other people in the whole place. They have a great drink list. I recommend the expresso martini. We got quesadillas and a grilled chicken sandwich- both were good, no complaints.

I've been here once with my girlfriend who is a Michigan fan; so naturally we went on Gameday. Not being a Michigan fan (or a college football fan... or even having gone to a college big enough to have a football team) the noise, crowd and atmosphere was little overwhelming for noon on a Saturday. Thankfully I wasn't nursing a hangover at the time. SC itself seems like a great bar: lots of seating, plenty of TVs, clean bathroom and an interesting two-level layout that is much more inviting and upscale in appearance than your average sports-bar. The beer selection is fair-to-middling, but I'm betting most patrons opt for Bud Light while there for the games, so it's to be expected. Still, with Jerry Remy's offering a nice selection across the street, it's an area for improvement. I'd definitely go back to Sweet Caroline's, and I'd like to try it for a Sox or Bruins game and/or on an off-night to get a better sense of the place. From that one visit though, I'd say it's a fair match to the neighboring Jerry Remy's.

The words and pictures certainly aren't deceiving, Sweet Caroline's has got a killer setup going on. Ivy climbing one of the walls near the entrance, reclaimed (and clean!) wood floors and bartops, two fully equipped bars, and a plethora of large, HD flat-screen TVs. Solid -- 4.5 stars on appearance. They've also got a pretty solid on-tap selection (locally brewed Cisco Grey Lady Ale anyone?), and the prices are pretty reasonable. However, the food is just average. My Turkey Club with Cranberry Chipotle Mayo was on-par with what I would expect from a local Shaw's, or perhaps a Stop & Shop deli, not from a Fenway-area restaurant. My dining companion for the quiet Sunday afternoon, Briana M., had a better experience with the California Club, and that was actually pretty decent, but still a step below what I expected. Regardless, SC's is a sweet (and affordable) place to grab a bite near Fenway, even if it's not the best around. I'll be back soon.

I assumed Sweet Caroline's was just a sports bar with typical "sports bar food" but I was so wrong! We started with the hummus that was homemade and slightly warmed, then salmon with an eggplant puree and kale and a bacon cheesburger with the most fresh bun. The food was fabulous and I would definitely go again.

Very cool restaurant and bar! The food is very good with reasonable price, staff is gentle and the atmosphere is cool.. It's quite big and you don't feel tight even when it's crowded. I have been for the super bowl and they offered a free entrance (the Jerry Remy's which is on the opposite side of the street asked 20$$??? WTF).. Recomanded!

SHOULD HAVE GONE TO REMYS Wanted to try somewhere new before the game, this was the wrong choice. My server was short and not very friendly. I had to ask for everything twice. We had to eat our appetizers without place settings or napkins. EVERYTHING we ordered took very long to get. Two out of five of our dinners were ordered wrong and the french fries were WAY too salty. After our meal, we had some time for one more beer before the game, I asked, but it never came. Our server seemed to disappear, and when she reappeared it was time to get the check. Plenty of other bars around the park, don't go to this one.

my sister, her boyfriend, and I were out a few Sundays ago to catch the Pats game and grab some dinner while we were out, and we came to Sweet Caroline's after some truly terrible service at Jerry Remy's; long story short, the unfriendly bartender thought my sister's and my IDs were fake and kicked us out. service at Sweet Caroline's was top notch, and the food was good. I wasn't hungry that night so i was just nibbling off my sister's plate, but I recall them getting mozzarella sticks that were good (except one had absolutely no cheese in it! literally a cheeseless deep fried bread encasing) but it wasn't enough to throw us off of being much more impressed with the place than Jerry Remy's. our server was wonderful, she even talked about our IDs with us and indulged our conversations borne out of anger. I was thoroughly pleased with how the night went after that!

It was a good place to watch the Pat's game, good food, solid beer selection. Our waitress was a little frazzled, but very attentive. Will return!

Great food. Service wasn't there though. I would go back. Had a good selection of alcoholic beverages to.

The food does not look like anything pictured on here. Everything was bad from the nachos to the salad. The waitress/bartender and the drinks were the only good things, So pissed I bought a groupon for this place and I didn't use it knowing I would never be back. So disappointed

good looking brunch. Dinner is less impressive. Wings are great and Philly spring rolls are good too. Service was fine once, but another time we ordered a coffee porter from our waitress ashley but receive a sickly yellow colored beer. When we asked that it be taken back, she told us to try it. When we asked what type of beer it was she had no idea, and didn't know beer. I asked if it was a hefe or an ipa and she cut me off to say that obviously it is lighter than the coffee porter and it is yellow. When we asked that she take it back, she refused to take it back until we tried it. It was very clearly an IPA. For a place that talks about the great beer they have on tap, it was surprising she knew so little about beer and would expect us to want a beer we did not order.

Sweet Caroline's is still relatively new. And they have great people working here...But the food was just average to me. I think they could add a few things to both the food and drinks menus. I did like the it was very comfortable/laid back. And I bet this is a great place to come before a Sox game. I want to give it another shot - but for now, just A-OK rating. Thumbs up on location and taking over another place. When are these guys going to get a real sign instead of a banner?

My daughter frequently gets Groupons so we can try out different things without spending an arm and leg. She had one for Sweet Caroline's, so we went to go check it out. The decor and ambiance was modern and inviting. The place looked clean and was equipped with plenty of TV's so that you can watch the game. The staff was friendly, attentive and eager to please. At first glance, I noticed a variety of beer to select from, which is nice if that's what excites you. We ordered a simple Pineapple and coconut rum cocktail and received what tasted like just pineapple juice. Without incident or resistance, we were able to replace our drinks with pineapple juice and strawberry flavored vodka...YUM! Our apps were the crispy honey cayenne chicken wings, which were meaty, flavorless wingettes drenched in a delicious sweet n spicy sauce and the steak n cheese egg rolls which tasted ok and would have been better if the crust hadn't been over fried and slightly burnt. My entree was the Lobster mac n cheese. The flavor was tasty due the selection of cheeses they used and the pasta al dente. It was topped with cracker jack popcorn and I still don't understand why as it did nothing for the dish itself. My only problem with my dish is I only had 3 tiny pieces of lobster and felt jipped. My daughter had the surf n turf burger, which is a burger with lobster topping. She didn't really care for the bland taste and texture of the combo however I did notice that they gave her more lobster on her burger than I had in my lobster mac n cheese. Wtf! And I paid about $2 more. All in all, if you're looking for someplace to watch the game, enjoy the company of friends and/or family without the headache of waiting to be seated due to crowds on a Saturday evening and you're not looking for tremendous flavor or value, then you'll enjoy Sweet Caroline's. Personally, I will not be revisiting this establishment unless the following 3 things exist; I'm in the area already, it's the only place open that doesn't have a crowd and I've already had a few drinks so taste doesn't really matter anyway.

If you're in the Fenway area or looking for some decent grub before a Sox game, Sweet Caroline's is a good choice. They have ample tvs, chairs, and bar space to enjoy a drink or food if you choose to watch a game there instead too. I am always amused by the forest wall contrasted with the castle-like chandelier light fixtures--it's like Rain Forest Cafe meets Castle meets bar. The food here is decent though. They have good burgers made to order, with the option of sweet potato fries, which I always am a fan of. I really like their buffalo chicken rangoons, and would definitely recommend you order them as an appetizer, followed by the cheesesteak eggrolls. However, stay away from the chicken sandwich and regular french fries. I tried both on one particular visit and they were bland and overcooked. Basically, if you stick to the typical bar fare, you'll get a tasty meal with few surprises.

Decent pub food, accomidating staff, good prices and great location to Fenway. I went here before the game on Saturday night with my family. I wrongfully assumed that being so close to the park they would not take reservations so we showed up at 5pm. THere was a HUGE group (I Mean like 25 people) taking up a mess of tables and since we were out of the norm number wise we had to wait. THe manager was great checking in with us every once in awhile. Food came out fast when we were seated (we got some menus to look at so knew what we wanted when we sat down). I would go back here as an option before a game or just because.

Happy I stumbled upon Sweet Carolines a few weeks ago after getting out of a Red Sox game. We were trying to go to Baseball Tavern and the line to the roof was absurd. We came out and saw this great patio with a bunch of empty tables right next door. We had 11 people with us so weren't sure if we could actually get a table. The manager came right out and set up a big table for us outside. The waitress was pretty attentive and quick. Their sweet potato fries were probably some of the most flavorful I've ever had! They were seasoned really well and practically melted in my mouth. Obivously good sweet potato fries always scores you points in my book! Will definitely be back here. The inside looked big and a great place to go watch a game and grab some beers and food.

Had dinner on the front patio last night in the summer warmth of March. I had been waiting to try this place since its poor timed opening (as the sox were sent packing prior to the playoffs). We were a party of 5 and the host was happy to accommodate us at our requested table for 4 on the patio. She was quick to return with an extra chair and was very friendly. The entire staff appeared to be ladies and all looked the same. Cute and young, perfect for the business/baseball crowd. The dining room/bar/patio were all crisp, clean and new. Felt as if we were there on opening night. SC's offers a large menu with very tempting options from the aps, entrees, burgers and salads! I highly recommend the buffalo rangoon, the lobster mac or fish and chips. The onion rings were underwhelming but the rest of the dining experience was spot on. The bar has a great selection but was brutally slow even on a slow night. I would be weary of getting mixed drinks on a game night! I would say go check out SC's Its a great alternative to the baseball tavern/jerry remey's

Great draught beer selection, they have about 15 beers on tap with a couple I hadn't seen before (Magic Hat Hex), and the old standbys for the Fenway pre-gaming crowd (Bud Light). The food is also excellent, best sweet potato fries I've ever had and the wings were solid. They have a lot of space here with plenty of room in both the bar and table areas. Plenty of tvs but the place doesn't scream sports bar either. The amount of space can be a bit of a drawback when there's nothing significant sports-related going on...I was here on a Friday night once, and it was kind of dead. Servers are great, really friendly and attentive. Be warned if you go on college football Saturdays, this place is a Michigan bar, so either avoid it if you're not a Michigan fan or come an hour early to get a seat. I got here fifteen minutes before game time and barely found standing space.

I really enjoyed the look of the place, very clean and nice looking for a place to sit down, enjoy some food and watch some sports games. But of course, I can only give this place 3 stars due to the fact that the food was nothing special. Their honey bbq wings were delicious but the courses that my friend and I got were not that great. She got the marinated steak tips and I got the meat loaf because for some reason I was craving it. Anyways, just the overall flavor of the two dishes were not very pleasing, so I literally took one bite, was turned off, and left it there to sit. The only reason this place got an extra star as opposed to two was because the waitress we had was so nice and I was very pleased with her service. She even noticed that something must have been wrong since I barely touched my food, but knowing how nice she was I just didn't want to bother her with any issues so I left it alone. She also knew we were in a rush to make it to a movie so she ensured us our dessert would be out right away, which it did. But of course that dessert was also very dissappointing, we got the profiteroles, which was ice cream sandwiched between the bread of the cream puff dessert -- the bread was super dry and tasteless, idk if cream puffs generally taste like that but I bet I wouldn't like cream puffs either, but if you're a fan of them and ice cream, maybe you'd like this dessert. My friend and I agreed that this place was not worth coming back to for the food though.

Inside has nice ambiance: ivy & stone walls, look of reclaimed wood at the bar, huge TVs everywhere, & overall very inviting. Food was good, but they took a very long time to serve us. Waitress told us that our appetizer had been stolen & needed to be remade, but boy was the buffalo chicken rangoon worth it. They made several mistakes while we were there (brought wrong beers twice) & not just with our table, as we could overhear apologies to the tables next to us. Also: you would think by now they'd have a drink menu together, but they were sorry thy still don't have that too. Though slow & often confused, staff was over the top nice. The lobster stuffed haddock was a bit small, slightly bland, & a tad rubbery, & mashed potatoes tasted half instant, half potato. My husband's chicken salad sandwich looked tastier, & his sweet potato fries were outstanding--I don't even like sweet potato fries so if you do I highly recommend them. Overall it's a place with nice atmosphere for a game, & room for improvements as they go along. I'd sit in the bar area during winter so you don't feel the draft from the front door opening too.

A nice, above-average sports bar with TVs aplenty, ample seating and solid draft selection. Our waitress, Sarah, was a sweetheart and did a great job throughout our time there. We ordered the house, bacon, and California burgers amongst us and they were all pretty good, just a bit overdone. I'd have given this place 4 stars, but it was disappointing not being able to watch the Raiders game. I understand that they could only show so many different games at once as someone else couldn't watch the Jets game either. Still, it didn't change the end result. If they do manage to show a game I want to watch next game, def wouldn't mind coming by again. The full menu should be out by then too!

I had a positive experience dining here in the past. My family and I ate here after the sox game and it was as they had never experienced an after-game rush. It honestly wasn't even that busy. We were seated on the patio outside and it took 20 minutes to be acknowledged and another 20 minutes to get a couple waters and 1 beer. There were no apologies from the waitress who asked "you ok? Do you know what you want?" To greet us. We ordered an appetizer that came out cold and was awful prior to us having to ask for plates and silverware. The tables next to us had left prior to getting their drinks and one couple had requested their check and it had been 20 minutes so they left cash on the table and walked out. Only the food busser and hostesses actually looked like they were trying to help customers. They had a bouncer doing nothing just staring at the dirty dishes on the tables and he was focused on waiving to the servers that were not paying attention in regards to underage kids trying to get dinner with their families. Keep in mind this was at 8pm. The manager was dressed extremely unprofessionally and didn't even apologize to our table, clear dirty other tables, or seem to do much of anything. He brought us an extra beer, lol! Um.. Thanks? At this point we still didn't have napkins or silverware to eat our cold appetizer and he never checked back on us. The server actually made a comment apologizing only to say she thought the manager was drunk. Our food came out shortly after, I had a salad that had no dressing (of course I had to ask a busser since the server was MIA) and the salad was very mediocre. Nothing on our bill was comped and there was no apology for the terrible experience. I will never go back with friends even for a beer.

Decent food, empty seating on a beautiful Friday night. Only have the outside seats were occupied and maybe 5% inside. Waitress hustled us out like there was an hour wait. Would come back again but ensure we don't get in her section again.

I went here with some friends this past Friday, for lunch. It wasn't busy. Our server was great. The drinks were good and made fast. I ended up getting the NY club with onion rings. The sandwich was good. Could've been better if served on bread instead of a roll. The chicken was good, but lacked in flavor. The onion rings are definitely home made and VERY good. Not that pricey. The music was awesome and I liked the ambiance. Overall, this place is great! Definitely a "go-to" place when I'm in Fenway. I recommend it!

Edit: I had first visited this place twice and a had a couple frustrating experiences with being able to get a table on a day they were closing early with no warning, and on a day when a basketball game was on and the bar and dining area were filled with fans. As a result I wasn't able to use the Groupon I had purchased in order to try this place out. However after speaking to the manager, Travis, he was very understanding about the situation of my friend and I being turned away twice, and still wanted to honor our Groupon. The waitress was really friendly, and we didn't have to wait long to get our food. The only thing is that I do wish is that the food was a bit more flavorful. Nothing was bad, but some dishes like the steal tips sounded so appetizing but just didn't blow me away for whatever reason.

This was my first time dining / drinking at Sweet Caroline's, but I'm a little bummed to say it's very likely going to be my last. The place wasn't that crowded, but the service was a little slow, and in general the restaurant seemed understaffed. The food was hit-or-miss: decent appetizer, and one pretty good entree and one that had WAY too much salt and a rather cloying sauce. The beer selection is good; however, three different beers that our table's diners asked for were either "off the menu" or "not on tap tonight." One of our diners was also somewhat disappointed at the rather small, ice-heavy glass that his drink was served in. Pluses: the staff is very friendly; it's a handsome, clean restaurant in an ideal Fenway Park location. For pub food, good beers, and sports on the TVs, though, I'm not sure why a local wouldn't just go across the street to the (admittedly noisier, but with slightly better pub food, and probably a bit cheaper) Jerry Remy's. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised at all the four- and five-star reviews on Yelp for this restaurant.

Nothing Sweet about this Caroline We went in for our lunch hour around 12:00 just before a rush of folks going to Fenway Park came in, but that didn't save us from what happened next. We were seated at the same time as another couple that got their food 20-25 minutes after they ordered. Our table got 1 beer, 1 ice tea, and a plate of past with butter for my 6 yr old daughter. At least she got to eat something and my friend and I picked at her leftover pasta noodles. We waited for 50 minutes and still did not have our food. The manager came over and apologized and said our food would be out in 1 minute. Another 10 minutes passed and no food so, we asked for our bill and headed to Subway as my lunch hour was over and I needed to get back to work with my kid in tow. We were comped the tea, beer and pasta, but that hardly covered the torture of watching other people eat around us, the time I lost at work, and the horrible stomach ache I got after eating the Subway sandwich in a HUGE hurry! If we would have come in during the rush, I may have been more forgiving, but we were there at least 35 minutes before the rush came in and plenty of tables that were seated after us got their food right away. All the manager could say is that he had no excuse, he was honest I guess? What part of the economy sucks and service needs to be stepped up to get new customers let alone keep customers do restauranteurs not understand? I work nearby and we go to Red Sox games, but Sweet Caroline won't be seeing my hard earned $$ any time soon, Barump, pump, pump!

Food was alright, nothing special. Quiet during the week, making it look a bit desolate and sad with all the TVs on but no patrons. They had Shipyard Pumpkinhead early though, which is great with me.

They took their great menu and reduced it in a pathetic attempt to be "fancy". It's a shame, I really liked this place, but now I won't be coming back. Poor management is going to doom this place.

  • Nikhil P.

I think there is a stiff competition between Jerry Remy's and this place for bad bar food. You could argue that's just par for the course (ie. "I spent all the money on getting those 6 TVs hanging by the bar so you can't possibly expect me to have anything to pay the chef!"). But then you have places like Yard House and Boston Beer Works. So then you could argue that those places are chains and you really shouldn't go knocking the underdog small-man's establishment. But then why not just go across the street in camouflage, pen and paper in hand, and either write down ideas from their menu or order a bunch of food and pick apart the components of how they made them? Surely you could find at least a dozen ways to ramp up your menu! All this self dialogue to justify why I'm giving a 2-star. The food isn't very good. My chicken sandwich was really rubbery, the salad was tasty but pricey, the nachos were expensive for what you get, sweet potato fries were plain, and the cookie ice cream concoction was good but just cookie and ice cream (which sounds great, but isn't so interesting after a few extremely sweet pieces). I want to like this place because the atmosphere is awesome. Watching the Celtics with a few loud fans (and one Miami Heat fan) was good times last night. But until I see management in reconnaissance at Yard House scoping out their menu, I can't be convinced I'm going to dig the eats that go along with my beer.

The wife and I went on Friday with a Groupon. We started with an ahi tuna app. The portion was fairly big, a pleasant surprise. It came with a dipping sauce which I enjoyed very much. The ahi crust though could have been a bit more flavorful. I ordered their wings for entree. Overall, the wings were just ok too. It would have been better if they fried their wings a bit longer to get them more crispy. My wife got the lobster stuffed haddock. The dish was ok too, Not sure about the freshness of the haddock, but tasted like it could have been sitting around for a few days. Anyways, the dinner overall wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Just A-OK I guess.

Love it! This is the second time I've gone there for a Michigan game, and this time we showed up with about 10 people. It was a blast. Our waitress, Michelle G, was fantastic and put up with our endless shenanigans. A really great place to go for a game. There are big screens and projectors all over, and the service is awesome (especially considering they just opened). If you're a Michigan fan, here's the scoop: There are two U of M bars in the Boston area, and this is the one you want to go to. The other tends to be more of the "golf clap" kind of crowd, and SC is a heck of a lot more fun. Get there early to get a table. PROTIP: Outside seating for a night game is awesome, you can see the game no problem. Day games might be a bit tricky with the glare.

My wife and I went here a week ago, wanting to try out a new place before a concert at Fenway. We had planned to order some food, but when we sat down at the bar a swarm of fruit flies appeared when the bartender poured us beers. Previously being a bartender, I understand that occasional fruit flies will appear but the amount concerned me about the cleanliness of the bar. Decor is dark and drab inside. Plenty of better choices in the Fenway area, and Sweet Caroline's shouldn't just rely on their name.

Went here after a red sox game and the restauraunt wasnt packed yet and the hostess was rude and basically shoved us outside when we could see there were open tables inside. The food is great although being a chef i could tell they were serving me meat that was borderline ready to get rid of. so that was a downer. The management came over and asked how our food was and that was nice not many restaurants do this anymore. I think this place needs a little fine tuning to do.

Stumbled upon Sweet Caroline's on a Friday night. It was surprisingly not that busy so I was able to get a table for six instantly. Decor is nice... open windows... would be the perfect spot for a warm summer night. We got two apps: Buffalo Chicken Rangoons and Philly Cheese Eggrolls. They were good, no complaints but I've had better. The drinks were terrible. My friend and I had the mojito which had absolutely no alcohol taste. I had them sent back and it came back tasting the exact same. This landed on first place for worst mojitos. We had our waitress switch out our mojitos for a beer and found out that we were still billed for the mojitos ($9 x2) that we didn't like which I consider awfully shocking. Two other friends got the margaritas which they said was not impressive either. As for the food, it was good. The sweet potato fries were tasty. My friends got the steak dinner and I tried the shepards pie. Overall, the food was good. If it wasn't for the poorly made mixed drinks and being billed for them, I would've given this place a four. I just don't find it fair that they would bill me for something I rarely drank and sent back within the first couple minutes after being seated. However, this place fits perfectly in the Fenway area and is better than average. They need to work on perfecting their drink making. Heineken promoters were at the restaurant too which made for a fun night.

We were lucky enough to be their "soft opening" for the Michigan Alumni gathering. Everything went off without a hitch. The food was GREAT and the service was very respectable considering I don't think they realized just how many people were going to be there. This will be a great alternative to this food choices/prices of Remy's or Baseball Tavern.

I want to love sweet Caroline's. it's gorgeous inside and has a great location. Problem is the staff. I came in with friends at 11 pm after a game on July 3rd. I realize it's a Wednesday but its a holiday eve. Keep the grill open and get some staff who aren't rude to customers who walk in.

Disappointing. Last time I got a salad with steak tips and it was almost all lettuce and only 4 tips. Expect more for a $20 salad, and the burgers leave me still hungry. Also no beer specials? Come on. Bit too pricey for a sports bar.

I'll start off by saying that the food here was pretty good. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Parm sandwich with fries. The sandwich was actually very good and the sourdough bread they used was great! The fries were actually very good too. Now to why the rating drops. The service. The hostess and waitresses are extremely nice and friendly but only if you are in their section. My friends and I arrived there for Bruins game 7 at puck drop. We asked for a table of 4 which we were told there was a 30-45 min wait even though we saw a table for 4 open for a good 20-25 minutes before they actually seated someone there. Many other customers who came in after us questioned about that table as well. We were okay waiting and stood around the upstairs bar where were were promptly greeted by a waitress to get beers, which was great! We got our drinks and saw a couple of seats open up at the bar on the main level. We took those seats and were told by our FIRST waitress that someone in that area would help us. We waited for a waitress to come by for about 15 minutes which never happened. Eventually, our cups were empty so we flagged a SECOND waitress down to get some menus. She drops them off and promptly walks away. Another 10-15 minutes later, no one stops by to take our order or ask if we need drinks so we pull over a THIRD waitress and ask if we can order. She says she'll find our waitress and eventually comes back and says, she'll take our order. Basically, there are about 5-8 waitresses in the restaurant yet it's not very packed and took us FOREVER to get served. We finally get our food and we notice they don't have a busboy to clean up the tables. The tables stay empty for a while and it's the HOSTESS who actually leaves her station and cleans the plates and the tables. Instead of having 8 waitresses on duty, why don't they hire 1 busboy? The hostess eventually comes up to us and says there is a table ready for us and we sit at the table. And we are then served by a FOURTH waitress. All in all, the food was pretty good but the service was slow. People there are friendly but it seems they lacked the proper training. The hostess was a jack of all trades by seating people, bussing the tables and cleaning the tables. Personally, I would go back there to catch some games again just because there were a ton of TV's and wasn't too packed compared to Remy's and Yard House. Just don't expect fast service.

Been there 3 times now. Twice for Michigan games and once for a Detroit Lions game. Tv's are awesome with great sound. Food is great with an huge draft selection. Staff is very good and this place is top notch. Get there as soon as you can it's a great place to watch all sports.

Loved the references to Fenway (with the restaurant name, the Green Wall of moss, etc). The decor is nice. It's a nice place to eat and the service was really great - friendly staff. I would recommend that Salmon! It was really tasty. Nothing too crazy special about this place, but I would love to come here again. Something I regret: I wish I could have tried one of the desserts. The dessert menu sounds amazing.

Just made it over to Sweet Caroline's for the first time and loved it!! We went to meet friends for the Pat's game and to celebrate her birthday and it was perfect!! Meh. The pre-opening reviews we're filled with promises of being "not just another sports restaurant in the Fenway" but that seems to be squarely where this place has landed.

It really is just meh. Better than Jerry Remy's (for those of you who've been that's not saying much). The staff was really nice and attentive and the room was nice but their food was just... meh. Nothing special, just ordinary bar food. I hope they get a chef that creates something that will be signature to them.

Went here after walking out of Sweet Cheeks. The restaurant was fairly empty and I liked the seperation of the tables from the upper level bar. would be a good place to watch a game. A step up over the Baseball Tavern in price and food quality, although the same footprint of the establishment. We both had burgers which were average. Both the fries and Sweet potato fries were very good. No wine / beer list as others mentioned. Also for no one else eating, the burgers did take a fair amount of time. I reccomend it for a game where you plan on eating.

This place is brand new, and it shows in the wait staff, but the food is EXCELLENT. While the staff does lack experience they make up for it with passion. They are all very nice and will do whatever it takes to make your dining experience an enjoyable one. The interior design is also great which adds to the overall dining experience. If you haven't checked Sweet Caroline's out yet, you have to. If you have checked it out then you agree that you have to go back again and again.

Great bar/lounge/restaurant! It has everything you could want in the Fenway area delicious food like buffalo chix rangoon, 20+ beers on tap some of them changing seasonally,, high end flat screen tv's, and of course a gorgeous wait/bar staff! The doors opened recently and they seem to be off to a great start, I've enjoyed my time here much more than the surrounding establishments!!!!!!!
