1 star for no cover...I guess. Holy sh*t their music is loud. Call me old, call me a curmudgeon, I don't care. If you value your ears the slightest bit stay away.

25 cents wings on Monday, awesome! Had some 75 cent oysters as well. It was a nice afternoon stop and the service from Gemma was amazing. Thanks!

I came with a group of friends who were in town visiting Boston tonight. My friend ordered a round of drinks, and when he handed them out one of the bouncers came up to me and told me I was too drunk and i needed to leave. I hadn't had a single drink yet! After 30 seconds of speaking with him, he realized I wasn't drunk, but the decision was already made. He stared off at some other person who was signaling that I needed to go. I didn't put up an argument and just left but this was extremely embarrasing. We found a place to chill and have a drink and catch up, and honestly I am glad I didn't spend any more money at Paddy O's. I will not be going back to Paddy O's because of this experience.

My family and I went there for the final four college basketball game & they were extremely accommodating. The bartender from Ireland was great & Savanah our server was awesome. The food was good & the Poitine was delicious! The oysters were phenomenal; they were not gritty & being that we all love oysters we were very pleased! Great time!

Insofar as this is a terrible bar, I furthermore assert that my friend shan't not have been exiled from their premises.

the 5 stars are only for their live music we just stopped by for a beer since this place was playing some live music on a Saturday afternoon. the artist was such a rockstar!! We ended up staying there for two hours and thoroughly enjoyed the music.

This bar is worst excuse for an Irish bar, ever. First off: there is a Smithwicks and a Harp sign hanging on the bar yet when you peruse the beer menu, neither one of those beers are listed or served here!! Stella, blue moon and whatever other non Irish beers made us walk out. The crazy part is that the woman that finally walked over with a menu had what sounded like an Irish accent. We question the authenticity of that as well. Very disappointing and don't waste your time here.

The oysters were ecquiste / fresh -- great Happy Hour value ----- Hugo may the best and funniest bartender --- great service / food -- ask for Hugo -'-

Never eaten here. But when I'm out and about its always a definite to stop here for nightlife. Great staff with some of the best/fastest bar hands in all of Boston (literally). In a touristy area, but live the vibe, djs are always good and again, love the bartenders here!! Cheers!!!

They had me at whole Maine lobster for $17.99. Who could resist such a price? We came here for dinner after the Freedom Trail walk. At $1.50 each, we ordered a dozen oysters and clam chowder as appetizers. Both were very good, although there were traces of the shell in the oyster, which totally stinks. For the main dish, I had the whole Maine lobster, of course. I was disappointed that the $17.99 price didn't come with any side dishes. But I guess that's why the price was so low. The lobster was delicious, but I didn't like their drawn butter. I've had two other lobsters on this trip, and this is the first one where I noticed that the butter tasted odd, very different from the other two. I'm guessing that they might've used margarine or another substitute. That bumped my review down to a 3 star.

Nice random bar that seems like a sports bar and Irish pub in one. Great for the game or a pint

I'm not local, but I visit Boston on business from time to time. I have visited Paddy O's on every trip, and I have always enjoyed myself. $1.50 ea oysters on the half shell drew me in the first time (and have drawn me inexorably back each subsequent time), but there is more to it than that. The decor is welcoming. The bar is attractive. Irish man-cave chic. The TVs... I don't like TVs in bars and restaurants, but I'm willing to ignore them. If you DO like them, holy cow! It's like having the game on a movie theater screen. The bartenders have invariably been friendly, engaging, and full of local trivia. Excellent crew. If I find myself in Boston again I will absolutely be back.

Excellent service! The menu is perfect for pub food. Tons of lunch specials too. The execution was delicious as well. We had the pesto panini and the Rafael. Great pub atmosphere. Highly recommend for a weekend lunch :)

Hugo (the bartender) was awesome! He was a gas to talk to and made excellent beer recommendations. The Shipwreck pumpkin beer was awesome with the cinnamon rim. Also, Hugo, you were right that the trip to Framingham wasn't worth it. It was novel but not worth a days drive!

This place is the best! I have been going here for three years, and even though there is a good amount of time between each visit, the bartenders remember me! Very friendly as well as the door staff.

I didn't eat here, but the experience I had grabbing a few beers and hanging out was fantastic. I love a good Irish bar and having Smithwicks on tap makes me a happy Irish lass! The bartender was super friendly and was from Ireland. We had a great time and I'm kicking myself that we didn't stay longer.

The bouncer thinks he is entitled to make decisions on who can or cannot get in despite the fact that he is over capacity based on Fire code. I would never recommend.

    (1)

Standard bar, cheap bud lights but get them while they last. The bouncer is my fave because he remembers me each time I go. This place also has much smaller lines than say, Bell & Hand.

Went here for lunch. This is a typical bar scene with lots of TV monitors. Quite noisy but with a great beer selection. We have Clam chowder for starters, Lobster roll and Paddy burger for entrees. The food was tasty and of good quality. The service was *VERY* slow. The bar was not busy they were just not that interested in serving people.

  • Michael V.

Good selection of snacks to go with a short but adequate beer selection. Hefe Blonde quenched the thirst properly. Had a tasty lobster roll with fries for $15. "Linebacker" nachos were nothing to write home about but the steak tips on my dad's salad were delicious. Staff was pretty friendly too.

I typically avoid Fanuiel Hall bars, but this one was pretty awesome. They had cheap beer, decent wine and live music! And on a Friday night early it wasn't crazy crowded, or full of douchebags that tend to frequent the area. It's my fav bar in the area!

First off, going to Paddy O's was the worst dining experience of my entire life. My friends and I (group of 7 girls) wanted a quick bite to eat while walking around Boston so we figured we would stop at local pub. We found Paddy O's but they looked closed. The lighting was dark and there wasn't a single person dining there. We were hungry so we decided to go in anyway. Worst decision that we could have ever made. Our waitress had a young girl following her the entire time so she could be trained, but if anything she was getting in the way. We asked for 2 pitchers of water with lemon and the pitchers of water didn't come out for at least 15 minutes. 15 minutes! We were the only people there. Then we asked again for lemons and they came 10 minutes later. One of my friends ordered a sprite and it tasted like water from a fish tank. Finally, when we ordered (30 minutes later) our waitress had a terrible attitude. I don't care how much you hate your job because you do not tell your customers how awful your job is. Just quit! When our food finally came 45 minutes after we ordered it, every single one of my friend's orders were wrong. My friend and I asked for a bbq burger (which comes with cheese, bbq sauce and coleslaw) and the coleslaw didn't come on it. The burger meat was doggy and very low quality. When we asked for our coleslaw to come out her excuses was that the cook doesn't speak english. That should not matter considering the burger's ingredients were a menu item and we did not ask for anything extra. Ridiculous. 2 of my friends ordered a salad without olives and with dressing on the side. However, when their salads came out of the kitchen it had tons of dressing and olives. 1 of my friends asked for no mayo on her sandwich but of course why would they listen?! Her sandwich came with mayo. When the check came I had no intention of giving this place my money. There was nothing satisfying about this meal and I felt repulsed as we were leaving. I left no tip but I reluctantly payed $16 for my meal. Biggest waste of my money. I'm from Boston so I used to being around people with Boston attitudes, but this waitress's Boston attitude was not appreciated. She was so incredibly rude and had no patience. Frankly, she should be fired. This place should be revamped and put under new management because it is run so terribly it is insane. I honestly hate this place so much. Also, the pillows had stains on them and looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the 1800's. Peace out

Took a few minutes to decide where I wanted to eat. Since I was by myself just went to the bar as to not take a whole table. I sat there watching the bartender count her tips, do some dishes and pretty much ignore me. Guess that invisible suit worked as I never even got noticed. Thank goodness many other options in same area! After giving her ample time I walked out and walked next door to another restaurant! Won't go back!

I stopped in here with my family while visiting Boston. We wanted to grab a light bite and catch a world cup soccer game. For sure a great place to come and watch a sporting event. Lots of TVS and large ones as well! Had a pretty good selection of beer and wine. Service wasn't terrible, but they really needed another 1-2 waitresses they were easily understaffed. Everyone was pleased with the food. No one blown away. But the salad was very good. And the clam chowder very good. Would deff go back!

Like some restaurants in and near the North End, Paddy O's has an architectural limitation: shaped like a large rectangle with only one of its edges facing the street, it gets very limited natural light. It reminds me a bit of The Thinking Cup on nearby Hanover Street, or The Pour House in the Back Bay. Great places, the lot of them, but quite dark inside, too. On the flip side, Paddy O's' shape does allow for a LOT of TV and projectors screens--perfect for a sports day. Today's World Cup game between USA and Portugal blares crisply from the speakers, and the two projector screens on the far back wall are so massive that I can see the game from the outside bar's window. This reels me in. I grab a Corona and a table; power outlets line the wall (a huge plus for me), and I plug my phone in to charge while watching the remainder of the painful soccer match, now in overtime and minutes away from Ronaldo and Varela's agonizing (infuriating) equalizer goal. When I'm ready for another drink, I have to go out of my way to find the bartender. This is like the Cactus Club in the Back Bay-don't set your customer service expectations too high and you won't be disappointed. A few hours later, as evening hits, a band sets up shop inside. The members start playing easily recognizable covers, from Michael Jackson classics like "Rock with You" to old school R&B like Blackstreet's "No Diggity". I dig it. Others do, too, but it's 9 PM on a Sunday, so the place starts to empty. Par for the course for this part of town, which is mostly a financial district. Nonetheless, I appreciate the live music just before a work day, without the hassle of dealing with a crowded club. It's also not a bad way to blow off steam with that loud friend of yours. There are worse ways to spend the tail end of a Sunday. Thanks, Paddy O's. Make it a Boston day. abostonday.com

The security guards are power happy and think they are CIA, if your shirt is wet because of the rain you should have a chance to fix it but they are uneducated bums who have no other life then to check ID ' s and don't let people have fun. I was respectful and they don't return the favor. No problem though, they don't deserve the credit of working at a good night club

So, I LOVE Paddy O's. Never had a bad experience here. Tonight I recommended it to a bunch of friends. It's a Monday night and the Bruins are playing the Penguins. Hugo is behind the bar. That's it. No waitress. NO ONE ELSE. It was not crowded. But, Hugo was by himself. He was not pleasant. It was not good. SLOW doesn't come close to describing the service. He was, at best, gruff. Again, on other visits, he was great. Kills me to leave this review. The food was decent but the service was BRUTAL. No waitress and a single bartender on the night of a Bruins games? Really??

There are so many different places to choose from in Boston but Paddy O's is by far the best! This bar is spacious with good music, good food (burgers are great!) drinks are reasonably priced and to top it off they have an amazing staff. Angela and Nigel are two of the nicest, funniest, most personable bar tenders I have ever met along with their manager Theo. Thank you to this wonderful staff for making my stay in Boston a trip to remember. Go Bruins!

This place is just A-ok. $2 beers and 50 cent wings are probably the best about this place. Beer is cold, wings are pretty good (i recommend the teriyaki sauce) I know you can get cheaper wings at red hat, but hey, still dont mind paying around $5 for 10 wings, good enough deal to me. Only problem for me is the service, and it seems like every reviewer is complaining about that. I went there proabbly a little under 10 times in general and it seemed that the waitresses i had really hate their job. She didnt give us attitude or anything but a smile to another person would make their day right? I would like some positivity. Also, I went there one night to just sit, relax and drink with 6 of my friends. We walked in, seated ourselves, and didnt see a waitress... at all. They were actually pretty lucky that me and my friends only want a simple little hang out that hour because if we were all starving, I would of complained. After about 20 minutes, we just left, didnt want to waste our drinking time by just waiting. I would come back if this place happens to be in my way and Im craving for wings

Had some amazing lobster here, and the bar tender was very kind and gave me tips on how to eat it since I had never had one before. Service was good at the bar and the prices were fair. I found this place because the line at Union Oyster House was ridiculous, but I am glad I changed my mind!

Clam Chowder was tasty with big chunks of clams and they poor a stiff drink here. I think it is still technically a tourist bar, but they have fun decor with traditional Irish sports gear. My dad and I stopped in for a pint before heading out of town and it was very relaxing, not too loud on a Sunday.

Well my review is a little bias based on how amazing our night was buuutt.. We were on a mission to Bell In Hand Tavern for my cousins 21st when the enthusiastic doorman of Paddy Os yelled, "No Cover! $2 Beers! No Line!" ..We stopped... decided to go in. Then... we had a blast. Great music, busy but not annoyingly crowded. There was adequate room to break it downnnn. Fast service even though they were busy. I heard the DJ announce their was a drawing going on soooo, I saw the KISS 108 table and entered our names in the drawing. Low and behold, my cousin won a trip to VEGAS! We had an awesome time. The doorman was pumped for us. We loved it here.

Nice pub, amazing band, good cocktails and prices. Had a good night here, even if it shared the same issue of the whole trip: Boston clubs / bars were empty!

Hip hop bar, warning no Irish music played, this place is advertised as an Irish pub, but it blasts hip hop music between and during periods of the Bruins game. Service wasnt real good, bartenders were decent.

I badly want to give Paddy O's four stars but I think it stems more from the fact that they are a sponsor of our softball team and less about quality and experience. All in all there are many bars in Faneuil Hall that fit the same category that Paddy O's falls into: - Decent beer selection - Decent beer specials on occasion - Decent food - Decent food specials on occasion ($0.25 wings anyone???) Decent bar in a decent location = 3 Stars

This is a long overdue review. Paddy O's is one of many typical Boston bars. Irish, decent beer selections, loud music, herds of 21 year olds. A few things set it apart though, and keep me coming back, even though I recently bid farewell to my twenties. ~no cover. This is key, as all the other average bars on Union Street charge to get in ~ $2 beer specials. Again, all the other bars on this street charge a silly amount for bud lite. Some nights you want to drink crappy beer all night and get out with a tab under $30. ~ live bands. Friends and I have had a blast on multiple trips getting into a full dance party here. Most importantly, Paddy O's hosted my Boston Marathon Fundraiser here last March. I approached the manager to ask about the possibility of holding it at his bar, and he immediately agreed to help. I had planned on asking around and then deciding where to hold it, but after speaking to the staff at Paddy O's, I felt no need to go anywhere else. He gave me his email, and we were in communication about planning. He was responsive and helpful, going out of his way to answer my questions and make suggestions. They charged me nothing, and didn't even require my party to have a minimum bar tab. The fundraiser was a great success, and I am so grateful to Patty O's and the staff for assisting me raise money for Dana Farber. Thank you, Patty O's!

I had fun the first time but the second time was lack luster. The bartenders can't manage it. They either work the front or the back, no designated areas. Be prepared to wait or walk to them.

Paddy O's has a warm and inviting atmosphere to indulge in after a long night of bar hopping to various places around the city. Warm and inviting. . . once you get inside. The bouncers make it very easy to pass this place over when deciding whether or not to stop in. A small group of friends and I were walking by this place when we noticed the $2 drafts sign outside. Perfect! It was getting late and the night was slowing down, ideal place to get a few more cheap drinks. A few minutes into our discussion about going in, one of the lovely bouncers shouted "Come in if you're coming in, otherwise get out of my doorway, your blocking the way." We're blocking the way?? Standing near your sign of advertisement, not even near the doorway? We ushered ourselves in (hey, there were cheap beers, no where else in sight at the time) as I gave him a disgusted look at his idea of his own self-importance. Bartender was nice enough, poured our drinks quick and checked back often enough to keep them coming. Some pretty great hard liquors lining the shelves, even 151! You don't see that often! Or at least I don't :-P. Some live music playing, although they were not in a great area. Right near the door. . . so we had to walk in front of everyone on our way in and out. Always makes me feel bad when I'm leaving a musician's set before its over. Loved the dim lighting, stonework pillars, dark wooden seating. Great place for some friends and conversation. Not many people here this night, made for much elbow room at the bar. Didn't have any food here. This would be a much better place if the bouncing staff was a little more friendly. Definitely wouldn't wait in line or put up with that in the future. . . good place to stop by if nothing else is available.

How do places that treat their customers so badly stay in business? If I could give this place no stars, I would. I came in here with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon. The place wasn't busy at all. We took a seat at one of the tables, and went to the bar to order drinks. We were informed that we needed to wait for the waitress to come around to us and couldn't order at the bar. Kind of odd, but we obliged. It took another 10 minutes for our waitress to show up - she seemed pissed when some of us asked for a menu, and had a serious attitude problem when someone asked about beer selections. You work at a pub, what the hell do you expect lady? She took drink orders, and the rest of us said we would order when she came back with drinks. Except, she never came back. We waited a good 15-20 minutes, and when one of us spotted her standing near the register chatting away with another employee like our table didn't even exist, we decided it was time to leave. Waste of time, rude waitresses, god awful, non-existent service. This place sucks.

LOUD MUSIC. Way too loud even for a bar. Food was $$ and just okay but had large portions. Place would probably only be good for grabbing a drink, eat elsewhere.

Home of the $2 beers. That's unheard of in an area like this right? An Irish bar.. where you should remember they are probably only good for Irish things. Their mussels are truly disgusting. I think the mussels were dead for days.. too much lemon juice. I am still shuddering at the thought. Decent place to stop by but I wouldn't hold your breath for the crowd or great food..

Paddy O's for new years was a nightmare. My coat was left in coat-check overnight (wouldn't let me back into the bar after my friend had a disagreement with staff and I went outside to ask questions). In the interim of caring for my coat, a staff member clearly went through it and stole my darts - $65 value. Thieves work there.

Food was well below par. Appetizer wasn't appetizing. Ordered the special lobster roll which was all bread. Fries weren't tasty and didn't even come with all of the sides listed. Overall bad food experience.

Thanks Paddy O's for being air conditioned last night when we were up the street at the Green Dragon drinking and sweating. Also thanks for no cover, tasty dark and stormys, and some entertaining dance offs to watch. Your bathrooms are kind of icky though.

I'll never come here again. My friends and I (party of seven) were looking for a bar to have a few drinks on St. Patrick's Day. Three of us showed our IDs, and were waiting in the inside foyer for the rest of our party to come in. The bar was not busy, and the foyer area was empty. As we we waited for the rest of our party, before paying the $10 cover, we were approached by a staff member who, extremely rudely, told us to pay or leave. We never had any intention to NOT pay - we were just waiting for the rest of our party. When we tried to explain, the staff member loudly said to the other patrons "They don't want to pay". It was extremely embarrassing. We promptly left an went to another great bar down the street. We didn't care about having to pay for a busy bar day - we just didn't want to be so blatantly disrespected. I'll never come back.

First time in Boston this past Saturday. Did the tourist trolley and harbor cruise and got to see the highlights of the city in a few hours. Was going to stop in at the Union Oyster House for lunch, but there was not a seat around the oyster bar. Oysters $13+ for a half dozen. I went a few doors down to Paddy O's and I am glad I did. Bellied up to the bar and had a half dozen oysters on the half shell that were some of the freshest I have ever eaten - $9. A guy was teasing his friend about trying an oyster - turns out they were both from Denver - how does that happen? The lobster special was a whole lobster over 1/4 lb with your choice of sides - I chose the fries - $10.99!! Easily $30 in Denver and it was so good. (After a few reviews I realize I need to find some more adjectives for good food!). Washed it all down with a fresh Guinness and was on my way in less than 45 minutes. Service was great from 2 friendly women straight from Ireland, beer was poured correctly with a fantastic attitude. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay in Boston and to visit Paddy O's again!

Great place for watching sporting events, bar hopping or if you just want some good food and drinks at a reasonable price! They offer $2.00 bottle beer specials and 25 cent wings. You can't go wrong with any appetizers or sandwiches. Staff is great and make you feel like they've known you for years!

Very impolite and inappropriate bouncers at the door. The bouncer didn't let us in for no logical reason. He first claimed that we are intoxicated. When we politely explained that we had just had dinner at home and hadn't started drinking yet, he claimed that we are we were talking about drinking shots and getting drunk. We explained that our plan is get only one beer and go for a walk in North End. He finally said that his boss has asked him to not let us in. I wish I could write something better, and I know that I cannot judge a business based on one bad experience, but this was by far my worst experince with a bussiness in Boston.

I do NOT recommend this place, at least not what we went for. We stopped in on a Wednesday night to have a couple pints and some pub food - no big deal, right? It's a random weeknight so how bad could Faneuil be? Well, not being a sports fan, I didn't realize the Bruins were playing. I want to stop right here and tell you that I acknowledge the fact that this is NOT the restaurant's fault. I understand that, on big game days, tables are moved away, people are standing and shouting, and the TVs are ridiculously loud. This is not the reason I had such an awful time. There were no more than 12 tables in the entire bar, so we could only grab one near the door/big open windows facing Union street. That would normally be lovely, as it's very isolated from the screaming hockey fans, but as we soon realized, this also meant we'd get absolutely no service. After waiting about 15 minutes for our waitress, my boyfriend went to the bar to get a menu. However, we could not ORDER at the bar, as the bartender told us we had to wait for our waitress to come over. Fair enough, though because she was either too busy or didn't want to bother with the three isolated tables near the door, ordering was a 30 minute endeavor. Once she finally appeared, we pounced on her to put in our entire order at once, food and drinks, because we had no idea when she'd ever be back. Sadly, we struck out on food, big-time. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef sandwich ($9.99) with some sort of horseradish mayo with fries, and I had a simple house salad with chicken ($10.99). Portion-size on both plates was adequate for the price (for Faneuil prices, anyway), but the food was not tasty. Frozen-fries fried to order were expected, for sure, but they seemed so under-fried that they were dry and mealy like steak fries (though they were much thinner). The best part about the corned beef sandwich was the squishy roll it was served on. The layers of meat were very very sparse, so we felt like we had paid $10 for a nice, squishy roll. My mixed greens salad was a bit odd - the basic salad comes with canned black olives, blue cheese, peppers, tomatoes, and mixed greens with a maple dressing. I'd never before seen this combination and it didn't seem to work all that successfully. Also (for good measure?), there was a handful of diced apple mixed in as well, a bizarre addition that was not listed on the menu. I ordered chicken to go on top, and the waitress gave me a choice of grilled or blackened. I chose grilled chicken, but what I received was a mangled mess of very dark, fried, chicken pieces tangled together as though someone did not cut the breast properly or it was just a particularly ligament-y section of chicken. Regardless, it was a good portion for the $10.99 I paid, and while the components didn't seem to work well together, it did the trick to fill me up while giving me my servings of veggies. We also ordered the Paddy O's spring rolls ($9.99) because we were very curious as to what a corned beef and cabbage spring roll would be like. These are very heavily deep-fried and extremely greasy, and are served with some sort of congealed cheese dip (the kind that leaves thick strings/ribbons still attached to the bowl as you try to dip your item in to coat it) that seemed an odd choice for corned beef and cabbage. While the innards of the spring roll were very sparse (leaving a bite that's mostly greasy-fried wonton), the actual filling was very tasty. For $10, I wouldn't call the handful of spring-roll halves a screaming deal, so I wouldn't recommend this appetizer unless, like us, you're wildly curious about corned beef and cabbage spring rolls. Our waitress finally brought our bill but forgot our $30 coupon, so another 10 minute wait occurred before we got the correct bill and could pay. I will note, however, that when we DID see our waitress, she was extremely nice and got our orders right, even with modifications (do you count dressing-on-the-side as a modification? Regardless, i'm a pain in the ass about that). Overall, the service is EXTREMELY slow and you have to near-beg someone to take your order and your money. The food is sub-par for a pub, even on that street, and there are certainly better pub-food options. Even in the non-weekend-party hours, it still feels more like a Faneuil bar than an Irish pub (bummer), and the sound is kept entirely too loud, making conversation absolutely impossible. Again, I know that it was a Bruins game day, but when the game wasn't on, the house switched to blasting top 40 music at a ridiculous level on a Wednesday night. Oy. Sadly, I won't be back. It was hard enough to bypass the tasty fries at Saus to get in here, I doubt my will power will allow it again.

I love no cover charges and was super excited that we found a Boston bar with no charge. I was super excited to try it out. Our bartender was awesome and the music wasn't irish but that's okay at least it was good music.

What brought us in? No line. And the waived $5 cover charge didn't hurt. It was full near the bar but not overly crowded for a summer night. We ordered a round of drinks... whiskey ginger, vodka sprite and gin and tonic, though they were mostly ice... they weren't bad at $6.50 a pop. My biggest complaint, it was a SO HOT in there. But we can blame that on the fact that it's been 90 plus degrees for the better part of the last 2 weeks.

Great Irish Pub, I always come here when I'm in Boston. I bring friends and we have a great time. Whether it's getting a full lobster meal or just snacking on some appetizers and watching a game. My favorites are the Green Monstah it's a mix of appetizers that you dare not attempt alone. Or for an Irish mix I like the Paddy Burger or Heartbreaker Burger. So many items to sample, I try to get something different each time.

I used to like this place last summer when I went there with my friends for Karaoke. However, I was also there the same night as Heather G. Even though the Bruins were playing, it was not overly crowded at all. It was HORRIBLE service. My friend and I had already got a drink at the bar and sat down with friends. It took FOREVER to order another beer. We had to ask the waitress twice. First she brought us the wrong beers. Then she randomly brought us a bottle of Bud Light when we never ordered it, we were drinking tap. We got one more round- that is 4 beers total from this waitress. We get the bill, she charged us for 5 beers plus the Bud Light we never ordered! I told her and after going back to her station, she told me it was my guy friends who ordered it. Also false. So I had to pay an extra $6 because she kept forgetting our beers every time we asked and added them onto the tab? I don't think so... So then two nights later, after a Bruins game that wasn't even in Boston, I wanted to go there with my boyfriend. We strike up a convo about the game with the bouncer...which is completely normal. The bouncer then says he hates the Bruins and Red Sox and basically all of Boston because he is a Yankee fan. How in God's name does that make any sense to tell incoming customers?!? So rude. Then he didn't even let us in. Why? Soley for the reason he is a Yankee fan. Great hiring concept Paddy O's... you suck.

I like this place a lot. My friends and I were tempted by their sign outside saying 2 dollar drafts. Can't go wrong with that! ($8 dollar pitchers) Which works out to about the same. I mean all I really did here was drink that 2 dollar beer and watch people dance to music on a Monday night. They made me a huge 151 shot which was well awesome. I can't even find a lot of bars that carry 151 so I was pretty psyched. This place is HUGE, cool stone structure, good place for cheep drinks and a large party! Staff was quick and efficient.

Went here on Friday night. I have been here several times before. The drinks are good and the ambiance is usually solid. Tonight though was different. I thought at first that maybe it was the alcohol. Here is what happened... I look up from my drink and see: - Weird spiked hair - Hot pink LA gear tee shirt - Hot pink pants - A space invaders tee shirt - Long hair - Fans blowing long hair - Pac man shirt What could it be???? Then in a flash, I hear Rock you like a hurricane and know that my dreams are coming true. It was 80s night, and as this 80s band started rocking, It brought back memories from my youth. Probably also many forgotten moments as well. Thank you Pat O's for the good band and good memories. Cover was $5 bucks, but worth it. BTW, make sure you hit SAUS next store for some fries and waffles. Great drunk food. Open until 2a.

Our group stopped in at Paddy O's on Sunday night, Marathon Eve, for a bite to eat after we became exhausted while touring the Freedom Trail. Clearly not all of us were planning to run the Marathon. Our lone runner was search of pasta, and although Paddy O's didn't have much on the menu in the way of noodles, they cheerfully accommodated my friend with a bowl of penne in marinara sauce for just $7.95. Although Paddy was offering up a lobster dinner for $13.99 (2 lobster for just $5 more!) none of us partook this particular night. Instead, my friends sampled the clam chowder and professed it "okay" but not spectacular and I had a delicious plate of lobster mac & cheese. The mac was stocked with plenty of big meaty lobster chunks as well as Irish bacon and scallions with a touch of Irish whiskey. I thought the cheese sauce was too thin, but the taste was superb. The accompanying salad with balsamic dressing was a good mix of greens and veggies to balance out the cheesy decadence. We had a lovely, attentive server (who was happy to facilitate the aforementioned pasta request) and prices were reasonable. Paddy O's presents a warm, comfortable atmosphere that's perfect for a casual dinner with friends be they marathon runners or not.

Pretty much all sentimental value for this one...well that and they often have a decent cover band... We've had a lot of fun nights here with friends (often getting in before a cover is charged which is a major plus in the area), enjoyed some good drinks (which they often have some sort of promotion going on), and in general have just had a good time there. Thanks, Paddy O's!

Fun, spacious bar with a great live band last Friday night. There was no cover but we went in before 11PM. It wasn't crawling with douchebags, the ladies room was pretty clean, and the door guys were cool. Drinks weren't a total ripoff. Definitely would go back here.

Basically a bad experience all around. We experienced a very rude bartender. The blond woman bartender walked away mid sentence giving attitude while my my friend was attempting to place a small drink order. The same woman had a very snotty attitude to another friend in my party when placing a drink order and also walked away mid sentence. A bar back almost knocked me and two other friends over when slamming us in the backs with cases of beer. We were also in an area that smelled of vomit and raw sewage. My party emphatically decided to move to another bar. Ambiance is nice but everything else leaves something to be desired. This is not a place I would bring any of my friends. I have been to many other Fanuiel Hall bars in my time and felt this to be the worst of my experiences. The $6 cover definitely added insult to injury.

This place is terrible! Our group entered and took a seat at the back. We assumed we would have to go to the bar to order drinks, but a waitress came over, so we placed our order with her. A few of our group were still deciding what they wanted, but ten minutes passed and she still didn't bring the beers for everyone else. She was serving other tables and never even checked back with us. We ended up walking out to try a different bar. Save yourself the trouble, and skip this place.

After having an epic weekend in Boston, I had to pause and write some reviews on the places I stopped by. Faneuil Hall was packed that day, it was hot as hell, and all the restaurants were completely filled so my friend suggested we pass the pubs on Union. We stopped by Paddy O's, nice interior, not crowded and friendly wait staff. I asked if they had Magners even though it was listed on the menu nor on the wall of beers offered, they did have it (yeay!) so I wonder if it's an inside thing or that all good irish pubs have this as well as Guiness. I orderd the Irish breakfast, the plate was huge, the usual white and black pudding, tomato, eggs, irish bacon, and more sausage. The taste was salty, perhaps a bit too salty, the entire dish was ok. I stay in the middle only because the servers were really nice and it was a catchy touch to have all the wait staff have an Irish accent.

A solid standby for a night out. Low and reliable drink prices and cover charges, and as long as you aren't expecting rock stars, they have great luck with the cover bands, too. Maybe not the destination bar they wish they were...but you tend to weed out the more annoying barhoppers, as they are waiting in line elsewhere, or at one the 'hotspots' and can't afford to leave and pay another cover elsewhere. I've never had their food...or even really seen the menu, but have yet to hear a good review on the food, so I suggest Paddy O's as post-dinner destination. There are plenty of good places to eat in the area anyway...who expects somewhere they can go for dinner and stay for clubbing to have great food anyway? Definitely thumbs up

Only one highchair for the entire Paddy O establishment? OBVIOUSLY they aren't counting on the real Irish broods swarming the place. When we arrived, we were told the lone highchair was, ahem, being used. We said, "No prob, we'll hold the baby or put her in her stroller." We were lead to a high top table - NOT SMART with a baby in tow - and we asked to be seated at a lower table so that we could push the stroller up to the table... Rather than under it. The radio system was spazzing out, switching between incredibly loud stations but not settling on one for longer than 15 seconds. The food was way below average, but the soda refills were constant - great for a hot day. I think it's safe to say that Paddy O's strong points are keeping glasses full, having a cool interior, and cheap prices.

Dos Equis bottles for $2/ea? $8 pitchers of Miller and Coors Lite? I'm three stars deep already. After that they didn't have to do much to impress me, but it IS a nice-looking place, definitely more pleasing on the eyes than almost any other Faneuil Hall Irish pub. The live music is good (I went on a Tuesday, Open Mic Night) but if you sit anywhere near the stage you will literally have to SCREAM to talk to your friends (doesn't help that most of the tables are wide and result in a precarious separation of the people sitting on either side). We moved to the back where it was still loud-ish but much more reasonable. When the live music stopped... Hold on. Is that... is that Boyz II Men? Oh well. I can almost appreciate that kind of gall. But seriously, two bucks a beer. TWO BUCKS.

I wasn't terribly excited to go to Fanueil ( i.e. I am over 25, and generally dont drink to the point of vomiting or fighting in public) in general, but decided to stop in for a friends birthday party. Her boyfriend had called ahead to make sure that we were able to get in without having to pay a cover. We were told that was fine as long as we were there before 10:30. We arrived from dinner at 10:40, no line. We shuffled inside and were told to pay a $5 cover. We explained to the girl at the register that we were here for the birthday party. She gave us an attitude and argued that it was 10:40. We asked to see the manager. The male manager ( dressed completely unprofessionally) immediately got aggressive with my complaining female friend. His reaction to her complaint was completely unprofessional and downright classless. Right off the bat he told her if she wasnt happy with the situation to "go somewhere else." The $5 wasnt the point, it was more that the bar was empty and we were there to spend money, the management and staff shouldn't be making it difficult for us! The manager didnt need to suggest going somewhere else, we would have PREFERRED to be somewhere else! I just felt that they were exhibiting poor customer service and lack of gratitude for bringing in a party of at least 25 people that would NEVER have shown up there otherwise. To add insult to injury, upon trying to check my coat, I asked the girl to please hide it inside my male friend's larger coat, as it was an expensive Burberry coat and I didnt want it to get stolen ( already had two stolen.) She gave me an attitude, threw it on a hanger, and brushed me aside as she moved on to the next customer while I was still addressing her. Overall, just poor customer service and attitude from young, classless staff. Will not go again, birthday or no birthday!

I've only been here a couple of times but it's been fun. What I don't understand is how this place doesn't attract more people. The DJ is always great, service is relatively quick and there is no cover. This place has a good set up with a bar area up front and an open area for dancing. They even have an elevated seating area, which could be a VIP section if they ever got enough people to fill the bar. Whatever the surrounding bars are doing to attract people, Paddy O's needs to mimic.

Paddy O's is a typical Irish pub type of place in Fanueil Hall. The food is pretty good, and their menu has a pretty big selection. Their wings are really good. For a night out, this place is aight. It can get REALLY crowded, but alas, that is par for the course in Fanueil Hall. C'est la vie. It's not my first choice for a night out but I won't bitch and moan too much if I end up here :) There are plenty worse places in that area. They have a good DJ too, at least on Saturday nights. I've never been on a Friday night so I can't tell you about that. All in all, it's a decent place to start the night, or stay all night if that's what you decide to do. You get your typical Abercrombie frat boy crowd as you do in most places around there, but the music is decent and they have a more diverse crowd than most other places. And that? Is fine by me!

My favorite indiscriminate Irish bar in Faneuil Hall. Not sure why, except that I've always had fun here and prices are reasonable. You can dance without the judginess of a club. (Or the Jersey Shore look-a-likes.) And if you're not a big dancer, that's cool too. Alla round, this is my favorite chill bar where you can dance a little, drink a little...and not have to scream to be heard.

I played on a bocce league in Paddy O's for 5 weeks in the Spring and enjoyed it there every time. $2 drafts were key and they have waitress service and alert bartenders. I will keep this bar in mind for when I'm out and about in Fanuiel in the future!

I spent about an hour here on Saturday night and I already know I like it. Caught the last few minutes of the Celtics game...everyone was into it and had a very chill vibe. As soon as they won, Dirty Water started playing and the DJ immediately followed. Some people were dancing, others weren't. Very relaxed place with an open floor and the music was great. I will say, if you're looking to meet/mingle, it did not seem like this would be the place for you. Mostly everyone was couples or groups of couples. Definitely want to experience one of the 80's nights.

Thanks to Craig C. I was able to not only experience Paddy O's and the cover band that was playing that evening, but we were also there for a Coor's promo event. I also got to see some really handsome firemen pass by 3 times on the ladder. The bar was extra long and shaped in an L shape, allowing everyone to get their drinks without having to wait very long. While the place wasn't at capacity and I had plenty of "breathing" room and dancing room, the clientele here was certainly below standard. I loved the stage and the cover band, but the crowd was too touchy feely for me. Thanks but I didn't want to be groped tonight. I just wanted to dance with my friends and have a good time. Is that so much to ask for? Craig - we missed you! We must have another night out.

Honestly, this place really surprised me, in a really good way. My work arranged a breast-cancer fund -raiser with Paddy Os and since it's located in Fanuiel Hall, I had my doubts that the bar would be without the usual "chode-factor" that area usually invites. Instead I found a comfortable, clean, attractive casual bar, with friendly & helpful bartenders. The waitresses were extremely helpful with helping my coworkers and I prepare the area for the fund-raiser and made the whole experience pleasant and enjoyable. The bar-goers were mostly the after work crowd on a Thursday--ages ranging from mid-twenties to mid-forties, polite, lively and happy to be there. I really like the set up of the bar. There is a long entry way with comfortable chairs and tables, the bar, and a large area with tables and enough room at the front in front of the stage for dancing. The place isn't huge, but it's extremly comfortable. We also had arranged a buffet for contributers. The food was all donated by Paddy Os and was extremely tasty for typical pub fare. I applaud the bar's generosity and helpfulness. They refilled the buffet several times even though the whole meal was out of their wallet. Thank you Paddy O's, you rock!

I avoid Faneuil Hall like the plague. It is a spot for tourists, undergrads that like to binge drink, and suburbanite men to come hit on undergrad females who like to binge drink... as well as anyone else who likes to binge drink. Paddy O's is no exception. Though I have found myself there 2 of the past 3 weekends due to friends bday gatherings. The line in the freezing cold and snow is exceptionally long. The place fills to capacity almost immediately and there is nothing they can do to ease would-be partygoers pain. My first time, a girlfriend who was already inside was able to persuade the bouncer to let her one beautiful female friend in, so I avoided the line altogether despite my 11:30 p.m. arrival. The second time, I waited for about 20 min (having arrived at 10:20), and later was able to persuade the bouncer to let another lone beautiful female friend in (the bouncers are very nice!). However, my other friend who was there with her boyfriend had to wait in line and after an hour of subzero temps and waiting ended up going home :( Enter Paddy O's and you have an awful crowded scene. Cover is $5, coat check is $3 (and if you like your coat you should check it! spare it from beer spillage). You can barely move... it is hot, sweaty and packed. The clientele is generally drunk and drinking more. Lots more. Drinks are spilled. Dancing is ok, largely because the DJs are awful... good popular dance songs but no transitions and switching song-to-song every 20-40 seconds. Bartenders make fair drinks, but getting to the bar is a nightmare. The layout is bar, hallway to bathroom, dance floor so you can imagine the traffic nightmare that presents.... All in all, there are just so many better places to party in this city.

Decent food, cold beer, bad bad bad live music. That said, Joe (bald, goatee) is the best bartender in the city of Boston, especially if you can catch him when it's quiet. The guy is hilarious and makes a mean Manhattan. What more could you ask for? Hot girls, I know. I was there on a cold Saturday for lunch. Whaddaya gonna do?

We came for a co-worker's surprise birthday party on a Thursday night, and I was surprised that it was actually quite a nice bar (for the Fanueil Hall area anyway). It had a kind of ski lodge feel, despite the fact that it is supposed to be an Irish pub. The food menu wasn't very Irish (they have clam rolls and oysters among other things), but offered a nice variety. Service was kind of slow, but food tasted good--again, much better than I expected. The staff was very nice and accomodating for our large party. Good, inexpensive beer selection, and bartenders knew their stuff. That night, there was also a guy singing up on stage with a guitar--not half bad either. I'd come back again, even though I don't tend to frequent Fanueil Hall too often.

Average Irish Pub food. Nothing too fancy... and glad my roomie had a gift certificate from restaurant.com . Prices were very reasonable, especially with the gift certificate. Decent spot if you're down around that area and looking for a spot to grab a bite, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way from Dorchester to go there... but I sure wouldn't turn up my nose at Paddy O's either.

Live karaoke here absolutely RULES. My friend and I went once and had an absolute blast -- by the end of the night I had pretty much taken over the mic. Great times. Also can't beat the beer specials! I had the curry chicken and fries (or, something like that) here and they were spectacular. I was also pretty buzzed at the time, which has the effect of making any food great, but the half I reheated for dinner the next day was good as well:) Never been on a weekend, but I'd have to imagine, given the rest of the Fanuiel scene, that it's probably crowded as all hell. Guess I'll have to figure it out myself sometime.

This place has truly stepped up their food preparation in the past 5/6 months. First time I went here for lunch the lobster roll and coleslaw had too much mayo, which is something I hate. I ordered a salad instead of fries and was disappointed as I usually am with bar/pub type places. I decided to give it another chance for dinner. Again, I ordered the Lobster Roll special for $15.99 (lobster roll, fries, coleslaw). I swapped a salad for the fries once again hoping for the best. And even though the waitress forgot I ordered a beer (she brought it once I reminded her) I forgot all about it once I started eating my meal. It was great! The lobster roll was so delicious with large chunks of lobster meat, lightly mayonnaised with slivers of celery and romaine leaves. The coleslaw was very good with a touch of sweetness. The salad was a mesclun mix with tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions... compete with sprinkles of blue cheese!! If you're a couple and like to order apps like me and boyfriend do .. I would try ordering an app or 2 and splitting the Lobster Roll special. I'm definitely bringing my Mom here when she comes to visit. The place is loaded with T.V.'s and I imagine is the perfect place to enjoy watching sports and eating. I'm hoping the wings are just as good!

Sub-par. Went here for dinner cause I was in the area last sunday night. I shoulda kept walking to the north end and had some good italian. People try and say, "average pub food" but i disagree. I got the steak tips and they came almost well done, big no no, and the veggies were drier then the atmosphere. My friend got the salmon and she said it was average at best and if it didn't have the sauce it was coated in then it woulda been returnable. The place was pretty much dead and our food took FOREVER to come out to our table. Oh and the chair she sat in nearly gave out underneath her, shes maybe 100lbs on a good day, so it wasn't her that was the problem. Our waitress kinda drifted in and out from us but I think the kitchen was at fault for the time it took to get to us and how crappy the meal was. The bouncer was also smoking a cig at the door and blowing it in pretty much everyones face, just what I like as an appetizer before my meal. Good place to drink, not eat.

Paddy O's is party of that Boston Irish bar conglomerate including purple shamrock, green dragon, etc. Big deal. I don't care how many bars you add to your group, there's no way getting around bad food. The food was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. We went there just to grab some food while we were listening to some wedding bands perform. I was jonesin for some mozzerella sticks and they were okay--i mean, i wasn't realy expecting very much. They were the normal frozen mozzerella sticks that you could get from any freezer aisle. I saw the "crab burger" and I was intrigued thinking it would be like a crabcake. I asked the waitress and she confirmed that it was like a crabcake. Methinks NOT unless her crab cakes are dried, packed, and browned all over. It looked disgusting and tasted even worse. I don't even think a dog would eat it since it was so dry. It lacked flavor and most importantly, lacked crabmeat. Defintiely NOT like a crab cake. Yikes. I had to ask the waitress if she had any tartar sauce, just so i could get it down. After passing by me not once, not twice, but five times before she realized that she forgot the tartar sauce, my crab frisbee was already cold. Oh well. Not like it was good when it was hot either. The fries were also pretty bad....probably the worst fries I've had in town, which is odd---because bar food is your simple fried variety, and normally, you can't go wrong. Paddy O's must have not gotten that memo. My fiance got the bleu burger and wasn't that pleased either. He said that he couldn't even taste the bleu cheese in the burger, which is suprising, since bleu cheese usually overpowers things. The waitress asked him how he wanted his burger, to which he replied, "medium." What he got was definitely not medium, or well, it was probably more well-dead. What i did like...my blue moon, but then again, i like my blue moon at a bar or in a bottle, doesn't matter much to me. I will definitely set a reminder to NEVER eat here again. Make sure you know its just a drinking joint.

If you're in the mood to dance to great 80s and 90s tunes you can all sing along to - this is a great place to go! I must say I was very surprised that I had as much fun as I did - thought it would be just another cheesey Faneuil Hall touristy Irish bar. Well, it was all of that :) but the cover band on the Friday night I was there (plus my girlfriends) made it really fun. Good for a ladies night out dancing!

Aww Yeah... You gots to love $13.99 lobster. I know I do, and that's exactly why I walked into Paddy O's. we were going into Ye Old Oyster House, but their lobster was way too expensive, so we followed the chalkboard sign to the special of the day which led us next door to Paddy O's. Even though, We were the only people in the entire restaurant we still decided to give them a try, and their lobster was tremendous. As the first touch of seafood in Boston, Paddy O's did us right complete with lobster bibs, Ummmh Oh yeah, crackin', snappin, and crunchin hunting for that savory flesh only to, aw yeah dip it oh dip it baby in some butter, and then oh yeah its gone.
