Everything I have tried here is delicious, definitely the best place I have found in the vicinity for Greek food. It is also SUPER cheap, I was a little hesitant the first time I went because I saw the prices and automatically thought the food was going to be crappy - I was so wrong! The workers are very friendly and they deliver!!

Greek food, to steak and cheese, to cheesecake. The staff is very nice, prices are good, and tasty eats... = good place to grab some Greek

Rating this solely on delivery from Foodler orders... The gyro wrap is _really_ good. I've never been disappointed by it. The fries/onion rings are always ridiculously greasy (to the point where the bag is COMPLETELY soaked through when it arrives at my place in JP). The dolmades and spanokopita have been pretty good, and the galaktoboureko dessert is delicious. The fried dough is also pretty good (they give you A LOT) for a dessert. Not open on Sundays, though. womp womp

I try to find the best lamb/beef gyro in every city that I go to. So far, the award for Boston goes to Mama's Place. Of the items I've had here, most were pretty greasy, but good greasy. Delicious greasy. Their tzatziki sauce is cold, fresh, and thick. Expect to pay about $10 for an entree and side. My favorite quality about this restaurant is its staff. They've always been extremely friendly to me. The owner, "mama," named the place after her own mother and is more than willing to take the time out to talk to customers. The first time I went, I asked her about the "Mama's" brand soda they sell. She gave me a free cream soda to try. There are only about 8 seats in the restaurant, but I've never seen it completely full. They also deliver for a small fee.

Mama's Place is great! A real beacon of light in Mission Hill. Super friendly staff, really delicious, affordable food. Made with a lot of love!! Oh man, the Dimitra's wrap is A-MAZ-ING!!

this review is for the gyros. the delicious, delicious gyros. thick, soft, slightly chewy, warm pita loaded with salty, hot gyro, and piled high with fresh veggies and that glorious thick, fresh tzatziki. i'm hooked. i have only ever gotten delivery, but that being said, their delivery is prompt, friendly, and the food still is hot when it arrives. i am a HUGE fan. i just ordered a gyro for lunch.

LOVE this place! Inexpensive, so fresh and filling. I think it's a place that really cares about its business. I always get the gyro...the burger reviews look pretty good though, maybe I will branch out and try one the next time I'm there. But that gyro is damn delicious!

I tried.. I ordered from my boyfriends house once and we got some burgers they were ok. After that I ordered from work a few times things just never seem to work out. Either they didn't have things that we wanted to order, didn't bring what we ordered, or didn't have a driver all together.. this is very stressful when you are hungry. Update we tried to order again before I posted this review because I like to be fair.. they didn't have the first three items we ordered off the menu. We finally ripped it up from our menu options, If you want to order from here I wish you luck. I have since gotten some food from mamas and it was pretty good.. they still didn't have some items but I moved them up a star because after all the aggravation the food was good.

I can't think of anything bad to say about Mama's. I went for lunch with a few friends and we were all very satisfied with our meals. I got the chicken gyro, which might have been one of the best I've ever had, and I'm Greek so that says a lot. It was packed full of moist flavorful chicken, possibly homemade tzatziki, and had a warm slightly crisp pita. The side of spicy curly fries was gigantic and they were cooked just right. A friend got the chicken kabob plate that came with peppers, onions, and rice and he couldn't even finish it since it was so big. Good thing I was there... ;) There were also many options for vegetarians, which my other friend was thrilled about. I can't wait to go back and try a few more menu items. Also, they accept LevelUp which is cool. $4 credit on your first purchase!

God, it's hard to give this place 2 stars because the burgers are so good! I ordered food online at about 630pm for delivery. By the time 8pm rolled around we we at Mama's Place to pick up our grub (just 2 burgers). So we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to find out it hasn't even gone out the door yet. Rather than wait longer for the delivery guy to get back, we decided to pop in the car and go pick it up. Keep in mind we paid online so we already paid the tip to the driver as well as the delivery fee. When we got inside we asked for compensation, but they only agreed to give us 1 piece of cake. Which we didn't want, but it was a take it or leave it opportunity. Well thanks a lot Mama's. Not going back.

I love this place! Typically, we order using GrubHub & get delivery, but I have gone in there on occasion to pick up my order. There food is always fresh & I have yet to eat something from there that left me disappointed. My favorites are the beef gyro, chicken fingers & of course, their chocolate chip cookies! There was one time they delivered spicy fries instead of my chicken fingers. They fixed the problem within 15 minutes & gave me a free cookie & a brownie bite for my troubles!

While pulling an overnight nearby, ordered out here on a whim. Good choice. Had a Ceaser Wrap, and a buffalo wrap ( it's a 12 hour shift, leave me alone ). CW was tasty, crouton's were crunchy, ceaser wasn't overly anchiovy-ish, romaine crisp, chicken warm, wrap was hearty. Also 4-5 stars on the Buffalo. Can't give five because I've never walked in, but the next time I'm working overnight, suggesting this place again!

Great service, reasonable prices, good quality ingredients. "Mama" established it like 30 yrs ago and still works the kitchen....we went as a family 6 m ago, she gave my son some free rice pudding because she had not seen us before (though I had eaten there earlier alone as well and loved it). The service was so good it was like eating at home....if your real Mama is a gracious host and cooks great! We went again last night. I am still giving 5 stars overall, but their spit roaster was broken so they used frozen patties....potential loss of one star right there, nothing beats the taste of freshly carved gyro lamb/beef from the spit. Hope they fix it soon! Mama and crew, thanks for the great food and wonderful atmosphere!

I've been here a couple times, and well - for me, it was just alright. It wasn't great, nor was it bad - just mediocre. The first time I went here, I got wing dings. Fault on my part because who goes to a Greek place just to get wing dings? Anyways, second time I came here - Davel and I got a spicy chicken sandwich and the beef kabob plate. The rice in the plate was a bit weird for my liking, but the meat was okay. The chicken in the sandwich was good, and the bun was pretty ordinary. If there is a next time, I think I'll try the gyro sandwich since my friends got it here and said it was good.

I decided to go for a long walk and this happened to look like a real good place to get food. I went inside ordered the Daddy's Double with small fries and it was ready in 10 mins. I walked all the way back to work sat down opened up the burger and it looked like a fat kids dream. A giant mess of goodness between two pieces of bread. I didn't mind that it was messy because it was good. The french fries were not what I like because I like them crispy but they tasted good for thick cut fries. I'm just happy i didn't eat there because I needed to clean up after that. :) I will be coming back for more.

Worst delivery service in Boston. They only restaurant in Brookline with a delivery service that won't deliver to ANY address in Brighton, no matter how close! I live two seconds from Whole Foods on Washington st in Brighton, What is an hour long walk down Washington St through Brookline Village to Huntington st, down to Mama's Place for me is normally a 5-10 minute drive down virtually one road for a delivery guy. Because my address is in Brighton and not Brookline (Regardless of living on the virtual boundary, 2.2 miles away from the restaurant) I get a call an hour after placing my order online from a woman named Tina telling me they don't deliver "that far"... Thanks for nothing Mama. Revise your automatic delivery refusals!

Excellent food. Excellent service. The "big guy" is awesome and Mama is actually there for all to see. The food is great- try the American burger.

Food so good it makes u wanna smack ur momma! U better not touch my momma tho. Ok so I have never been in this place but I order deliveries from there all the time off of Foodler. Everytime I order I get Greek food because thats what they advertise. My review is based solely on that food and none of the American stuff. Their spanokopita is damn good. Not enough feta in my book but still damn good. The chicken soup was just good. The gyro was good. And the macaroni w meat is pretty good (although i wish it was just a tad bit more saucy). I love their rice and I absoluely dream about their galatobouriko (i think thats spelled like that). If u have a sweet tooth its custard in the middle with some pastry sheets on top and cinnamon. yummy

This place has really good gyros! FOUR starts for the gyros. It's right around the corner from me so I might be coming here a little more often. I don't think they make their own baklava but having been raised on the stuff by my HS Albanian friend, I can say they're pretty good when fresh. If you're planning to order here, it's not a bad idea to come during the peak hours since the meat is ordered more frequently, you'll get the more tender cuts of meat for your gyro. I would avoid going when no one's around since you might get stuck with the slightly dry outer parts of the rotating meat. I've only recently started enjoying these gyro treats but I like the softness of the dough and the fact that their meat is not overly salty. That's one of my pet peeves with food. I also got their spicy curly fries. Not spicy at all, but fresh, delicious and enjoyable.

Amazing, inexpensive Greek food. Huge portions for a great price. Excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Fast service and great for take-out. Absolutely delicious- I recommend the wraps (especially the Greek salad wrap with chicken!)

Love it! I live 5 minutes away so I frequent here at least twice a month. The owner always smiles at me & asks how my day is ... I appreciate that, small things matter. I always get the steak tip salad which is amazing along with a cream soda and I'm always satisfied. It kind of made me sad to read all of the sad reviews here ...

yum! I work around the corner and probably get lunch here once a week. I usual get the greek or california salad with chicken. the salads are HUGE, the veggies fresh, you get a ton of freshly cooked delicious chicken, and the california salad comes with about a cup of gauc. all for under $10!! the people have always been super nice to me, especially the one time they messed up my order and made me the wrong sandwich. if only they had coke instead of pepsi...

Mama's Place was absolutely the worst delivery service I've ever had. So, I come home from a long plane ride and rush hour trip on the T with my suitcase. Needless to say, I was feeling lazy and was in no mood to go grocery shopping or to cook. I tell you this, because I definitely should have fought with the Mama's staff more than I did, but I was just too tired. I ordered food on Foodler. I ordered a California Chicken Salad, Mac and Cheese bites, and a Raspberry Lime Ricky. Foodler told me they'd be there in about half an hour- good enough. Twenty minutes later I get a phone call about my salad. They didn't have avocado and offered to replace it with mushrooms. Avocado is the main reason I chose that salad, but oh well, things happen. (Though, for sake of argument, Stop and Shop is a 3 minute walk from Mama's, so they could easily have gotten more). I told her to replace it with green peppers instead. Then, an hour later, my food still hadn't arrived at my house. I called the restaurant to find out that the person had just left and should arrive in 10 minutes (with no apology). So, the food arrives and I open it and find my salad, the soda, and no mac and cheese bites. Call the restaurant again and tell them what happened. He says, "hold on a second" and hangs up on me. I wait eight minutes to see if he intended on calling me back- he didn't. So I call again and say, "we must have been disconnected..." and he tells me that they're making the mac and cheese bites then. Thanks for telling me? Again, no apology. So, forty minutes later my mac and cheese bites finally arrive with one extra $2 soda (was this their apology?) As for the food? Not great. The chicken on the salad was much too salty. The mac and cheese bites were meh. And the lime ricky basically just tasted like Polar Raspberry Lime soda (which, admittedly, is delicious, but not the house made lime ricky I was hoping for). Don't know why this place has 4 stars! Terrible disappointment.

I was going to give this 4 stars till I made the regretful purchase of trying their Daddy's Double Burger. Their greek style cuisine and wraps are what almost gave this 4 stars. Great tzatziki that they put with their greek stuff. Now, I realize it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make tzatziki, but regardless it can be very easy to mess up as well. I subsitute mayo for the tzatziki in most if not all of their sandwiches and wraps and it adds great amount of flavor to them. Now, of course I haven't ordered everything on the menu, but the one time I decided to venture outside the greek style cuisine and wraps, I was extremely dissappointed. I paid $6.50 for a double burger, and what I end up getting is something along the lines of a Burger King double whopper. If you've ever had burgers that taste literally like an omlette, then you know two things: Its not 100% beef and they basically make the burgers like unseasoned meatballs (hence the omlette taste since eggs are typically essential to making meatballs). Not necessarily a bad thing, until of course you flatten a meatball into a burger AND you don't season said meatball. Also, now that I reminice about this poor experience, I realized they didn't add Lettuce and Tomato as I requested as well. So ya totally not worth trying, you want a similar style burger, go to Burger King and buy a whole double whopper meal for around the same price or less.

I love this place.. The best thing to order is a burger! It's a rather small place.. So not much seating, but for being a corner food place it's one of my favorites. There's this one guy who I believe owns the place (he's always there) who is so lovely. He's super nice and always comes from behind the counter to bring me my takeaway. Also, whoever works at the cashier no matter who it is, is always pleasant. (I have come to this place a lot haha) I would say they prepare the food pretty quickly, even when they're busy! You can see them working on it from the front so you always know they are working hard! I have also ordered from this place and I'm super impressed with how quickly it gets to my apartment! The people who work here are great, and their food is good! The only downside is they aren't open on Sunday, which is okay, but it sucks for me because I always tend to want food from here on a Sunday! Either way, it's a good place to stop to bring something back to eat after a long day!

had the souvlaki and the kebab plates before. the wraps are delicious--but, goodness, are they oily. looking at the saturated baking sheet wrappers, i definitely think the oil overkill. the rice pilaf is a bit superfluous, but if you enjoying having two scoops of rice fill in any lingering corners of your tummy, the plate may be a good choice. its good food, just not something i'd go eat in good healthy conscious more than once a month.

I ordered through Foodler and got a Barbeque burger with curly fries. The burger seemed a little on the small side but it was well done and tasty. The curly fries were crispy and flavorful. You get a large portion of fries for a price of $3.95. The food was very good and delivery was prompt. The delivery driver actually came to my door when most just call when they're outside and have me wait until they pull up.

Mama's Place is exactly what the name implies - comfort food that will satisfy everyone and anyone. Located right off of Huntington Ave in Mission Hill, this place has the perfect location for the young population that resides in the area and their sometimes desperate need for greasy, delicious food. Their menu is extensive for being such a small joint, and their prices are affordable which make eating here financially guiltless. My two favorite items off the menu are the Gyro Burger and the Spicy Curly Fries. The fries are always crispy and never too oily, and they are packed with incredible flavor. As for the Gyro Burger - oh my goodness gracious. This burger is absolutely heavenly. It's the perfect combination of two Greek and American staples. Just imagine a love child between a gyro and a burger, and that's exactly what this is. If you live in the area, visiting the area, or simply looking for some deliciously affordable food, Mama's Place is THE place to go.

Great local eatery serving delicious middle eastern fare. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Over whelmed by the selection the fellow behind the counter suggested the Cleopatra wrap which has Hummus, tabouli, falafel, tahini sauce, cucumbers and tomatoes. Huge I could only eat half, but was happy to enjoy the other half later in the day. I was lucky enough to grab a seat by the window counter during the busy lunch time. You gotta love places like this that serve good food at reasonable prices with cool staff.

Mama's Place is definitely a go-to when you are sick of eating the typical American food, Chinese food, and Indian food. I looked them up on Yelp and saw that people rave about their beef kebab plate. I was not disappointed! I highly recommend it. I've also had other items, such as fried mac&cheese and fish&chips. So yummy! I definitely recommend their fried mac&cheese. The staff is also really friendly and attentive! They make you feel at home. I still have yet to try other items on their menu, but I'm sure they are all amazing. It's a really small restaurant, located on the corner of Wait St. and Huntington Ave. It's pretty hard to find parking, so I suggest taking the T (you get off at Brigham or Fenwood Road) if you want to sit down and eat. Otherwise they do take out as well! I've done delivery as well and I experienced nothing bad so far. They will also give you free dessert occasionally!

We ordered take out for a late night session of testing. The food was delivered quickly and was still hot when it arrived. I ended up getting the avgolemono soup (lemon chicken and rice) and the California chicken salad. The soup was great and really creamy with the egg added. The flavor of lemon was very light, very good chicken to rice ratio as well. The salad was OK - all of the lettuce was iceberg and the guacamole wasn't homemade. I wasn't expecting much seeing that is more a pizza/Greek place for food. The chicken on the salad was excellent and I loved the extra kick of the BBQ sauce. Others got Gyro wraps as well as sandwiches, all was good! Parking on Huntington ave is awful so make sure you get delivery or pray for a spot to open if you are doing pick up!

  • Sara M.

I order from this place on Foodler and have sampled a few things. It's decent enough delivery food but it isn't stellar. The avgolemono was watery and thin, not creamy and bursting with a citrus brightness. The gyros was decent but there was just something off about it. I was excited for the curly spicy fries but they arrived soggy even though the flavour was there. However, the steak kebabs with onions & peppers nestled on top of a pita with sides of rice and salad is fantastic. The beef is seasoned and cooked perfectly; dipped in the tzatziki makes it even better! I like to rip pieces off the pita and make perfect little mouthfuls. The delivery always comes early or on time and the food is warm. I will continue to order from here because of this entree.

Attempting to get delivery from this place was a frightful experience. My client was in a 3-hour meeting and wanted dinner. I put in an order through Eat24 and everything was going fine until I got the call from the delivery person. He said he had arrived and I sent my client out to find him. The building is rather complex and since it was after hours my client had to make sure that he could get into the building prior to coming out to pick up the order. I called the delivery person back when my client was outside but he said he couldn't see anyone and told me something about "coming back." After a few minutes I called him back but the call went straight to voicemail. Using a friend's phone, I called him back and he picked up to tell me that my order was at the store. Well...the reason I asked for delivery is because I can't go pick it up! I never got my food and the delivery person was very rude on the phone when I asked incredulously (I think justifiably) why my food was not being delivered. He just kept repeating that my food was at the store. I realize the location may have been confusing, but the delivery person should have stay on the line with me until the transaction has been completed. The elapsed time for the delivery was barely 5 minutes. The delivery person should have waited until my client could find him. This establishment not only let me down, but also my client. You have once chance to make a good impression and you failed. In the end, I never got my food. This is probably an unfair review considering all the other stellar ones, but I had a terrible experience and it would be worth it if the restaurant was aware of the situation if they could prevent this from happening to someone else. TL;DR Attempted to get food delivered, food never got delivered. Delivery person was rude.

I've eaten here twice. The first time I had the gyro wrap. I've had better. The second time I had the gyro burger. It was a bit pricey and above average in taste. I might go back since this place is close to work, but I'll keep my expectations lower and order something else.

Still one of the best eateries in the LMA. Tried the eggplant wrap--it's huge and I don't know what tourlou is but it's delicious. Definitely makes for two filling meals. And they make a huge strawberry milkshake. Not a lot of seating but it usually works out that you can find a place to eat by the time your order is ready.

Food was decent. Customer Service sucks! I ordered for the first time today for delivery. The delivery guy named Sammy (or Hammy, whatever it was) couldn't find the building I was in. He parked in the wrong parking lot and had to just turn one corner. He parked in the middle of the street, made me come out to the middle of the street when it was pouring rain and then he continued to cuss me out about how he doesn't have time to be finding my building when he has another 30 orders that night. Good: the food Bad: The guy who cussed me out, they gave me 1 napkin for 3 meals, the guy who made me stand in the middle of pouring rain to cuss me out, and the fact that he didn't even say sorry for being late or for pissing me off. Coming back? NO. NEVER. even if the food is good. I'm not buying a meal there to pay for an arrogant a**hole's paycheck.

Ok! Just ordered from Mama's Place for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised. Delivery was a little iffy, the food was cold and a little soggy when it arrived, but considering the horrible weather in Boston right now, that's absolutely forgivable, especially considering that they got here right on time and came in to the lobby of my building(most places don't!). The spicy curly fries were tasty, not overly seasoned, but they had a good kick to them. As a Philadelphia native, I was fearful of trying a cheesesteak (steak and cheese sub) anywhere else, but I was craving one pretty badly and I decided to place my trust in Mamas Place. I was very pleasantly surprised, the cheese and steak were delicious and a good proportion and I could tell that the bread had been crispy before it was delivered. Definitely pleased with Mama's place, however I think I'll be eating in next time so I can have the full hot food experience.

Mama's Place has literally been the worst place I've ever ordered from in my 26 years of living. I ordered through foodler.com and placed the order around 7:20pm. Almost TWO hours passed and, after 2 different phone calls where they ensured it would be there any minute, the food FINALLY arrived.....ICE COLD. It was absolutely ice cold. When I had called earlier, they had said to call back if we weren't satifsfied and they would refund us. I called the second it arrived and the phone was handed to the manager of Mama's. Let me assure you, this man was one of the rudest human beings I've ever talked to in my life. He DEMANDED that I give all of the cold food back to his driver in order for me to get refunded. But if I didn't give the COLD, LATE-ARRIVING food back, I could not get any sort of refund or compensation. Reminder, we waited 2 hours only to have cold food delivered to us. No matter how much I politely asked to have some sort of refund for the extreme inconvenience his restaurant caused me, I was not able to be refunded unless we returned the food which is absolutely, shockingly ridiculous and obscene from a customer service standpoint. He even went as far as to tell me to "make sure I have ALL of the order there to be picked up". That "nothing was eaten". My jaw dropped at the obscenely rude comments this manager was making to me, the customer. I will never order from this restaurant again and I insist that anyone who likes hot food delivered to them should NOT order from Mama's Place. I wish there was a way to rate a restaurant ZERO stars. Update: It is now 9:30pm and we are heating up this food in the oven in order to eat it...dinner time is long past and we are out $37. Needless to say, we are not happy and STRONGLY encourage no one to ever order from this terrible restaurant. They clearly don't value their customers.

Things go keep in mind: - No tables here! Not a big issue but not exactly the best place for 5 people to catch up. There's a row of seats along the counter at the window (maybe 10 total). Much more of a pick-up to-go place. - Saw tons of cops come here to grab dinner. My friend made a good point that any restaurant where you see a lot of cops or EMT workers means it's definitely a great local spot - they will know the neighborhood better than just about anyone. - We could all tell a lot of the desserts were Costco-bought, being big Costco fans ourselves. (Recognized the brownies, saw the packaged cookies on the shelf, and the chocolate cake definitely tasted familiar) I feel like I can't really give a rating on these items since they don't make them in-house. Can't comment on the cheesecake & baklava, maybe they make those. Cost: $11.75 for a wrap & curly fries. Very inexpensive, very quick, & lots of options. Must-haves: Fresh Fish & Chips, Mac & Cheese bites, Spicy Curly fries (if you don't mind that it's not too spicy). Menu: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… GREEK CUISINE * Gyro Sandwich, Beef ($6.95) - 3.5 stars pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… cross-section: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… The bread is pretty thick and soft, but could have been just a little more toasted. The meat was good but I would have loved even more sauce to bring everything together! The ingredients weren't distributed the best - a layer of meat, a layer of shredded lettuce, a couple slices of tomato, and sauce drizzled on top. SOUPS * Lentil soup ($3.95 for a bowl) - 3 stars pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… Interesting that they gave those small crackers that normally come with clam chowder. The soup was pretty thick, lots of good texture from the lentil, but it was really bland in flavor. SIDE ORDERS * Spicy Curly Fries ($3.75) - 3.5 stars pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… Absolutely perfect texture. An evenly slightly thick layer of flaky crisp. You bite through it to a warm soft inner part. Just perfectly thick. I just wish these were more spicy! Definitely could've used more flavor. You do get a giant serving. * Mac & Cheese Bites ($4.95) - 4 stars pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… cross-section: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… You get a smaller serving, but this was really great. Triangles of mac & cheese (creamy, soft, fantastic), surrounded in a thick perfectly crisped layer of batter. The cocktail sauce went great with this. FISH & SHRIMP * Fresh Fish & Chips - 4 stars (w/ fries, coleslaw, & homemade tartar sauce. $9.25) pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… Wow, probably the best quality fish I've ever had in a fish & chips dish! Really tender and soft. The batter was a little soft and soggy, though. The chips were even fish-flavored, probably friend in the same oil! However, while the middle part was soft and chewy, the outer part once again didn't have enough crisp, unlike the curly fries. You do get a giant plate and overall this was pretty great. MAMA'S WRAPS * Cleopatra's Wrap - 3 stars (hummus, tabouli, falafel & tahini sauce, cucumber, tomatoes. $6.95) pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/mama… I thought this was an amazing deal, and you do get a huge wrap for this great price. Remember that you aren't getting any meat, which I was aware of. However, this IS a cold wrap (I thought the falafel might be toasted!), and the wrap itself was VERY stale and hard to bite through. This made it really hard to enjoy, especially since the hummus was absolutely delicious, very thick and fresh-tasting, the dominant flavor, and went so well with all the other ingredients.

I got a gyro .. I opened up the sandwich to eat it with a fork and knife.. And apparently not only does it come with beef/lamb, red onion, tomatoes, & lettuce, but also with 4 thick strips of potato layered under the meat? Unless those happened to fall in unnoticed somewhere along the preparation process, they seem like just fillers. Hmm..

Food was soggy and cold by the time I got it and they messed up my order. Better food and better service from other places nearby.

I've had this place several times while I lived in the Mission Hill area. It's a serviceable cheap eat establishment with some pleasantly surprising stand-outs (the Gyro Burger and the Greek Salad deserve mentions here). The staff has also always been incredibly friendly; all smiles and very attentive. It may not seem like a lot but if you've ever worked a counter job like Mama's you know how much energy customers can sap out of you. However, I can't bring myself to give Mama's more than three stars for one reason: there is simply too much bloat on this menu and the stand-outs don't stand out enough to make this kind of establishment error. Seriously, stick with a Greek identity or Greek Fusion identity; I'm not quite sure what kind of vibe Mama's is going for when Fried Fish and Chips, Makaronia Me Kima, and California Chicken Salad are on the same menu. Despite these gripes, if you stick with the options I mentioned earlier (as well as other recommendations from fellow Yelpers), you should get a good bang for your buck.

Really great value. Ordered delivery with a specific future time and they got here exactly on time. Really impressed and will certainly order from here again.

First off, Food. -4 stars- The food is very good for the low prices they have. I've ordered from there twice now, getting a burger each time and they are delicious. You get a lot of food for your buck. You always get tons of fries, onion rings, or whatever side you order. Second, the service. -0 stars- I ordered delivery both times. The first time was good, food came on time, paid and went on with my day. The second time they called me to come downstairs of my apartment building to get my food. So, I put on my shoes, grab my keys, not moving slowly at all. I started walking downstairs and I get another call to hurry up, because he couldn't find a parking spot. Being up 2 floors, I guess takes too long. If I was old and had to walk down stairs slowly, I would probably had spit in my food from the delivery man. So I go down, open the door and get my food and then the delivery man decides to yell at me to come down when he calls... which I did. Apparently he was in a big hurry. He went on saying he's going to get a ticket, and what not. All in a very angry manner. I didn't tell him this, but he has 15 minutes where he was parked. I gave him a good tip, which I had already dug out of my wallet on the way down. I honestly believe he deserved $0 in a tip, and I'm a strong believer in tipping. Never had a delivery driver yell at me the way he did.

Found out from Yelp that this place has great gyros and curly fries! So I (almost) immediately marched my butt on over! Pretty small place which people have touched on already, but if you go a little later than the lunch crowd, there is no problem getting a chair at their bar. I ordered the beef gyro & spicy curly fries. The fries weren't spicy but they were delicious. The beef gyro was out of this world! And the homemade Tzatzki (I know I butchered that & my iPhone won't autocorrect it!!) is amazing as well! Everything tastes fresh! I would definitely come back to this place! Staff was friendly as well.

First let me say is never understand how people could write a yelp review because a lot of people fabricate there stories to make it sound worse then what it really was. So for me to write this that means I was completely disappointed in my service. I places my delivery order through eat24 at 930 the restaurant opened at 9 why did it take almost over an hour for my food to arrive? To top it off everything was cold. I mean cold not one thing was warm. The toast was cold and hard like it just sat and died waiting the rest of the food. I work in a restaurant so I know what died food taste like and my toast was exactly that died food. When I reached out to eat24 about my food they said the restaurant would take off the pancakes for the inconvenience. How about you delivery me a hot plate of food like i ordered. I don't want a refund I want a hot plate of food. But they couldn't even offer that, I would've given the old order back. Just be more aware of your delivery times and have better guest service. Much better places to order from for breakfast its just disappointing that I've given this place so many chances to improve and they just keep disappointing there guest

The best in the area. You can't touch this. My first taste is when my school got catering for one of the club: first of all the pita + tzatziki sauce is so good (always need to get that or else), spanikota pie is always consistently delicious, fresh salad + good dressing, delicious pasta When I'm sick of waiting for the next club meeting for their free food, I go there myself to eat ~ because good food is worth the money ~ Thank goodness they're also quite cheap. I love the patata wrap (potato) with the sauce and the soft potato, really filling and could be make into 2 meals! Chicken kabob plate is really on point, like I said that sauce make everything amazing.. They also have wing dings, really good buffalo sauce for dipping and CHEAP!!! I tried their strawberry smoothies and it was fine, nothing to write home about but it fits my need. I find their desserts a little bit too sweet, but if you're into that - you'll probably like it. Overall a great place for your college wallet. ALSO you can get delivery and order online from Foodler - how convenient :)

I like the burgers because they taste like what my own mother would make at home. Very comfortingly nostalgic and delicious. The onion rings are crunchy and filling, though far from the best I've had-- and I consider myself a discerning onion ring addict/conneissour. The service here was off-putting recently when one of the girl's gave me unnecessary sass when I pointed out that my burger came without tomatoes and lettuce....and I definitely didn't want a naked burger. She made it seem like an unbelievable burden to add these simple toppings to my burger. Dunno if I'll be returning soon.

  • Lizzy S.

I've had their Gyro sandwich twice for takeouts and I'm in love with it, but this time for delivery I wanted something different so I ordered the Cleopatra wrap (with pita bread, instead of tortilla). I'm loving it!! It tastes so fresh yet decadent at the same time! I also ordered the chocolate chip cookies -delicious!!!- and chocolate milkshake -very good!-. I ordered the chicken fingers dinner for my kids and they love it! I tried some and I have to agree that it's better than some chicken fingers delivery I've tried around the area. Their fries taste kind of like the fries at Disney World parks, which we love :) Had no problem with delivery time and the delivery guy was very nice. I'm already thinking about what to order next... one of their burgers! I'm gonna make my husband try another burger menu just so that I can tackle two items at one go.

Just stopped by for some Greek food! The chicken souvlaki sandwich was very good . The spinach pie was very good also . One of my favorite Greek desserts "rizogalo" rice pudding was truly exceptional . Will definitely return when we visit Boston again. Geia sta heria sas!!!!!

  • Astra G.

Their beef Gyro was pretty good and came out piping hot. The bread was soft and slightly crispy on the outside, the meat was tender and flavorful and the veggies were freshly cut. The tzaziki sauce though was veryy mayo-y and not so yogurt based as it should be. But then most to-go type places add lots of mayo to their tzaziki sauce. It did have lots of nice garlic flavor though. Can you tell I'm particular about my tzaziki sauce? The staff were extra nice and attentive.

Hands down, best Gyro's and curly fries around. Great greek salads, loaded with goodies. Plus, don't forget dessert--they're rice pudding is glorious. Great fast, friendly service. Super clean kitchen and dining area. Dining area is small, seats about 10, so plan for takeout.

Ordered from Foodler and it took almost two hours to be delivered, even though the original estimate was 60 mins. When it finally arrived it was ice cold. Owner was extremely unapologetic and, frankly, quite rude and abrasive. He refused to refund us until we returned all of the food. So at this point we have been hungry for two hours, are out $30 and have nothing to eat. Worst experience with a food delivery and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. EVER.

  • Madeleine G.

Just had the worst experience placing an order for delivery. Waited almost 2 hours for delivery, called twice, was ensured that the food would be delivered in the next 10 min each time. When the food finally arrived, everything was ice old. We called to see what our options were. Apparently, the only option was to return all of the food (making sure everything was there as quoted by the owner of the restaurant) and then we could wait another 45 minutes for a redelivery once the order was "checked out" at the restaurant. I spoke to the owner myself and I have never felt so deceived and disrespected as a customer. When you place an order for delivery, you expect the food to arrive still warm and fresh, not the same temperature as something out of the fridge. I can accept that it was a busy night and it was a mistake but the owner of the restaurant was completely unwilling to see the situation from the customers point of view. Needless to say, I will never order from this restaurant again. And I would highly recommend that if you expect your food hot at delivery, do not order here. Worst experience ever.

Absolute go to place to order from. My boyfriend and I order from here maybe about twice a month-their delivery is very quick and it is always ready quickly if you are picking up. The chicken gyro, beef gyro, mac and cheese bites, burgers are all top favorites. - if you ask for tztkai zauce on the side with some pita as an app it last a couple of days and makes a great snack. prices are fair for the area, burgers don't come with fries so you have to order seperatley but if you are ordered with another person the portion of a small is plenty since they give pretty large portions on the food. If you live in the area deff a go to place for take out!

    (5)
  • Elise P.

The food's very good. Their pita and rice are buttered to perfection (perfection is a LOT of butter). Guy working the counter was a awkward though & I couldn't wait to get out of there.

  • Lisa M.

I'm here visiting from Albuquerque, NM and I have to say the food was great and the portions were huge! My Greek Salad was delicious and wouldn't have a problem eating there all the time. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

    (4)
  • Kelly O.

Solid lunch choice in the area (and they take LevelUp). Good value for money; the $4.50 app portion of the spanikopita is huge (think giant rectangle), and the $2.95 small soup is still a good sized portion. Food wasn't too bad. I do prefer my spanikopita to have much more feta than Mama's had, and also for it to be fresh out of the oven (theirs was made ahead of time and heated up), but their version is fine. Their avgolemono could have used a little more lemon I thought, but again, decent version if that's what you're craving (it's hard to find around here, for some reason). I'd return to try some of the other Greek items.

The best beef gyro I've ever had in my life. Honestly, wow. I'm speechless. As I ate the generously sized, soft, warm, flavorful gyro, all I thought was "I'll never let go, Gyro. I'll never let go". I also ordered the Mac & Cheese fries, Mozzarella Sticks, and Fried Dough with Honey. All of those were good, but the gyro? Oh man... I'll never let go.

Okay, so we just ordered take-out from Mama's, and the food is okay, but we found a piece of glass in the gyro. Gross. And dangerous. Not fun.

Have you met Mama? Well, I have. And she is just darling. Last year I moved to Boston to attend graduate school, and I stopped in on my way to show my boyfriend my new place in Mission Hill. If you're walking up Huntington Ave, and you passed the Green T Coffee shop, keep walking just a few steps more. Mama's Place is just around the left corner, and trust me, you will be happy to see Mama. I was greeted by someone at the cash register who seemed to be related to Mama, and as a joke I asked if I could meet Mama one day. She turned around, and yelled "Mama!" Before I knew it, Mama was smiling at me and asking me when I moved into the neighborhood. We chatted for a few minutes when suddenly my boyfriend and I found out she knows his mother through the Greek Boston community! What a joy it was for me to find a close connection to my extended family. I ordered a falafel sandwich and John ordered a steak and cheese sandwich. While we waited, Mama brought us her warm homemade grapevine leaves, which were so full-filling after a long week of apartment hunting. The sandwiches were unexpectedly huge and absolutely delicious. After my first personal visit, I put Mama on speed dial and would order chicken caesar wraps for lunch and cheeseburgers during finals. I ordered so many times that Mama's delivery man knew where I lived, where I went to school and where my study buddy and I hid out to cram for exams. Thank you Mama for helping me get through my first semester of B-School!

This place is amazing. Do yourself a favor and order a Mama's burger. DELICIOUS. Honestly, one of the best burgers I have ever had ever, and definitely the best one that I've tried around Boston. After I discovered this place at the beginning of the summer, I've ordered here at least twice a month, and will continue to do so so long as I'm in delivery range. Also, their "spicy" curly fries or whatever they're called are equally amazing. Also--surprisingly not spicy, but still delicious and worth every calorie. They're more your traditional seasoned curly fries. Every time I order them they're consistently crunchy and flavorful and they do give you a generous portion for the price. I can never finish them by myself and I eat quite a bit! I'm boring and don't like to try new food when I've found something I already love, but eventually I'll venture off to other things on their menu. I'm sure they'll be just as wonderful as their burgers and fries.

Unfortunately this is not a review about their food but the counter girl taking orders. Kerin and I ordered fish and salad and chicken and salad. We both asked for blue cheese dressing. As our food is being put in the bag, I asked for an extra blue cheese dressing and the counter girl said we put Italian dressing on it. I said I asked for blue cheese. She said well we put it on already. I said ok, I won't take it. She says OK (not I can make another salad BUT OK... SHE THEN PROCEEDS TO ASKS Kerin "I guess you don't want yours either?" Kerin says no I will take it but we've been coming here for a couple of years and they've never put the salad dressing on it. The counter girl says "well I've been working here for 3 months and they've always put it on there"! She proceeded to the grill guys in the back and says "She wants her money back because the dressing is on her salad". So with that being said we will not be returning to Mamas with such poor customer service.

First experience ever getting food from here. I was starving one night so I ordered a steak and cheese sub with peppers and onions. At most places they understand that these should be grilled the idiots here did not. The meat was wicked dry and it's like they don't know what cheese is because I didn't see any of this sub. It was cold when it got to me, and it's not that cold out tonight so it shouldn't have been cold when it got to me unless it was siting around for a while. Even though I was starving I threw the whole sub away it looked so disgusting I couldn't even eat it. I don't know about the other food but I can't imagine it's any better there are so many other resturants in the area just go someplace else.

A decent neighborhood joint with friendly service. The chicken gyro was good, though a bit heavy on the tzatziki sauce. My go-to is the chicken rice platter. The pita's the best part, as it's super warm and fluffy. The rice is nice and buttery, and the chicken (though a bit dry) is well seasoned. Haven't tried the burgers/fries yet, so I may have to update my review when I do.

Simplicity at it's finest. You walk in, stare at their menu located on a giant wall, and walk out or sit down with a great meal. This has been a favorite of mine lately. The buffalo chicken and Greek chicken salad are absolutely excellent. My boyfriend enjoys the burgers, and has recently become a fan of their kebab plate as well. The portions are ridiculously large for the price, and the price is incredibly inexpensive for a restaurant in Boston. Also have a large variety of Greek foods that I am gearing up to try out in the near future. I don't know who invented this place, but this "Mama" is doing a heck of a good job.

Ordered delivery from here: American Burger, Chicken Fingers, Cheese Fries. Burger was OK, didn't seem like a half pound but oh well. The fries were extremely soggy and mushy - I had to broil them before eating. The chicken fingers were definitely standard frozen pieces. From the description I believed I'd be getting BBQ tossed chicken pieces, but instead received bottled BBQ on the side. I also requested Bleu Cheese with them, which I did not receive. Will not be ordering again.

One of the best places for Greek food in Boston. The gyros are authentic and amazing. Mama's also has a fantastic selection of burgers, although they are on the smaller side. It's a small shop, so I don't recommend trying to eat there during peak hours. The baklava is a must try as well!

  • Christina S.

This is a small little place on the corner of a busy street. The parking is side street. So you should find any parking nearby and just walk. We came from CT to do a weekend in Boston and this was our first stop because I was craving a gyros. and their gyros was amazing. the meat in it was juicy and thick. It was wonderful. The location was close to Harvard Medical School. Convenient. It always had people coming in and out so it was constantly busy. There is just a small area to eat in the restaurant. Its a small bar that faces the window so you just can look at the cars, trains, and buses going by. I'd recommend the pork gyros. :)

Chocolate shake was awesome, but I went for the wings, and they were probably some of the worst I've had in boston. the breading was moist, and i specifically asked for blue cheese, only to receive 2 packets of ken's ranch. i've heard the burgers are good but i just want to make sure no one orders the wings again. $11.50 for 12

Great food at an affordable price. I've ordered burgers, fries, onions rings, and shakes from this place several times now and I've never had any complaints about the quality of the food. The burgers taste great and the fries are the average run of the mill take-out fries I would expect when I order out. I enjoy how customizable the plates are on their online ordering system. The onion rings in particular are delicious and I highly recommend them. There aren't any exceptional highlights to point out other than the fact that everything is priced very reasonably well and from there, the food exceeds any minimal expectations you could have.

Chicken gyro is delicious. I crave their tzatziki sauce! Definitely call ahead since they get very busy for lunch, and their shop is small. Don't plan on eating inside. Got free rice pudding with our orders, which was very good. I don't normally even like rice pudding. Pricing is in between Samys and El Mondo.

I only ever order the American burger for takeout. The best! With brioche bun, two patties with cheese, the traditional lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles + bacon and their homemade sauce YUM! Only downside is that the fries tend to get soggy by the time you get to your house since they are placed in a closed paper bag. They have LEVELUP which gets you a few bucks off on your fist payment. I believe I got $4 off. I am always so disappointed that they are not open on hangover Sunday :( I def recommend nevertheless!

  • Matthew M.

The food is here delicious, and the servings are very large for their charges, but I haven't had a single good delivery experience. The last time the delivery driver didn't follow my directions, got lost, accused me of lying to him. Then I had to go out in the cold looking for the dude.

I've ordered from this place about half a dozen times now and everything I've ordered has been really good to great. For a delivery place in Mission Hill, that's akin to a miracle. Their onion rings are amazing; thin, crispy, salty, all the things you want in a fried onion. The gyros are equally great - the tzatziki sauce is a great compliment to the juicy meat, perfectly fluffy pita, and the crisp veg. Their salads are really tasty and come with a lot of toppings. Their rice was a miss for me - it looked and tasted like mush. My husband swears by the salmon burger, and when feeling less healthy, he's a big fan of their regular burgers, too. Delivery is always pretty fast and while the prices are just a tad higher than I sometimes feel they should be, that obviously doesn't stop me from ordering from them! Ah, convenience.

  • Steven R.

Food was fantastic. Deserves a 4.5 out of 5 but that's not an option on yelp. Gyro wrap was awesome and the beef and delicious and great Greek quality. The only downside was that there was only a bar to eat at with about a dozen seats inside, but hey that Boston right? Food was prepared pretty fast and I could tell this was definitely a local favorite. The price is also really good for most items on the menu!

    (5)
  • Sidney L.

In many ways, Mama's Place feels quintessential Mission Hill. It's pretty cheap. It is mostly a takeout and delivery joint, though there's a small eating area if you want to eat on the premises. It's a Greek, but you can also get subs, onion rings, burgers, and chicken wings. I found the Greek food here merely OK - mushy falafel, somewhat bland hummus and gyro. The American food is a little better, especially the onion rings. But for what it is, a cheap takeout restaurant, Mama's Place does just fine. You'll get very good service and the food is made promptly.

I was babysitting at a house with no food near Brigham circle and mama's place saved the evening! The hamburger, fries, and vanilla milkshake came in less than 30 minutes and definitely hit the spot. Fast, simple, good food. This was my first time trying this place, and I'm looking forward to ordering more from them!

I've never actually been in the restaurant, but I've had Mama's many times. Ordering in their delicious spanakopita or dolmathes via Foodler.com is my guilty pleasure. Once on a (fat kid) whim I ordered the gyro hamburger--hamburger with gyro meat on top. Amazing! If you like hearty Greek food, Mama's is the Place for you.

Quick service, friendly service, quaint little place....stress on the little. Bar stool seating only. Very busy w/customers on a Tuesday night. Good sign. Ordered the gyro sandwhich. Very good and filling. Plentiful w/beef/lamb strips for 2 meals. I'm a fan.

Mama's place is a small lunch spot that is popular in the longwood medicial area. It is right next to Brigham and Woman's hospital. It is greek based but branches out to meet more of an american sandwich restaurant. There is limited bar style seating but most people do take out so if you want to sit down I am sure you can find a seat. I have gotten a burger each time I went (first the gryo burger and then the college burger) which were both fantastic. Full of rich flavors and fresh ingredients. But I was not completely full afterwards. The second time I went I got the mac n cheese bites and now I am really full. It will hold me off for a late dinner. They have a decent selection of drinks as well. The menu is not just burgers and sides. They have seafood platters, wraps, salads, and a few other specials. This is a great place for your lunch break. There are a ton of restaurants in the area but this place has to be a top contender on your short list of lunch spots.

This place was delicious! The staff were super friendly. I ordered through Grub Hub, they no longer do delivery so that solved that problem! I'm glad I got their small fries because they were more than plenty! the bag was soaked in grease and so was the wax paper they put around it, but that actually ended up being a good thing. Less grease in my stomach! I got the falafel sandwich...I was used to the falafel balls rather than it crumbled up in the pita, but it was still super delicious with all of the fresh veggies and hummus. The hummus could have been tangier, but really balanced well with the sandwich. And the pita bread tasted very fresh like they had made it in the shop. I will certainly be back!

This place is clean, neat, affordable, and you can tell the workers care about their food. I like their gyros. They're good sized with the usual trimmings and are neatly presented. They're also not expensive at $6.50 per sandwich. I've also had their fish and chips. I had to try them since the cashier actually wore a t-shirt that read "mmm..fish and chips". For 9 bucks you get three big pieces of cod on top of steak fries, a cup of coleslaw, and tartar sauce. Unfortunately, the cod is overwhelmed by thick, hard, breading. Think extra crispy fried chicken. I ended up removing the hard shell and just eating the fish, which was delicious. The steak fries were greasy and limp. The coleslaw and tartar sauce were above average and might even be homemade..

Mama's Place might be our new favorite local place for take out. They have everything from burgers to soup & salads to gyros. We had a cup of avgolemono soup, the college burger with a side of onion rings, a gyros basket with fries, an order of baklava, and two of each of the desert bites (chocolate chip cookie and brownie). The prices are very inexpensive and the quality of food is great. We will be going back for sure. The space is small but the layout is unique and they keep it clean. If you are in the mission hill area, you've got to try this place!

Hey, I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Generic name, tucked away on a corner off Brigham Circle, and replacing another forgettable takeout spot. But this food was good!! I had the fish and chips - super tender and flaky fish (fork-worthy and actually so flaky that a fork was necessary), homemade tartar sauce, fresh coleslaw and chunky fries (fries were kind of standard). Amazing for $8.50. Husband had the gyro sandwich, also very well done and flavorful. We also shared a custard phyllo dough thing that was sweet and yummy and generously portioned. The restaurant itself is primarily geared towards takeout - just a few stools at a counter available for eat-in, but overall clean and comfortable atmosphere.

I'm so happy that Mama's Place is finally open! My favorite menu item so far is the gyro burger: two juicy beef burgers, beef/lamb gyro meat, tzatziki sauce and veggies. It's juicy, flavorful, and filling. I also highly recommend their gyros, the lentil soup, and the falafel. Plus their fries are fantastic! This restaurant is exactly what Mission Hill needed--good prices, amazing food, big menu, fast service, and a very friendly staff! There is very limited seating, so I recommend getting your food to go. Mama's is a weekly staple for me now, so if you haven't been yet you're definitely missing out.

From first visit (4 stars): Food was pretty good! I got the gyro burger and my partner got the Hummus and Falafel wrap. I really enjoyed the burger. It was juicy and flavorful, I will definitely order one next time. The wrap was lackluster, even had little bits of foil in it from them cutting the foil-encased wrap with a dull knife. All in all, worth a visit. The staff is friendly, the place is well-lit, and it has a welcoming decor. Oh, but mind you will have to pay for refills on your fountain drink :) It seems they are still new to this, hehe. Editing to yelp for more recent visit May 12th (5 stars): They've steped things up a little since my first visit. The staff is very friendly and welcoming without being too pushy. If you get their combo, try the rice, it's delicous! Served with a creamy lemon sauce, it's just the right about of flavor and a welcome alternative to fries. The gyro sandwhich was delectable this time. I will certainly go back again, and bring friends. My first time was only 4 stars, but my second time was 5, so I'll report back on time 3.

The place has a very positive homely feel to it. very polite people, especially mama. I'd go there to try some of their other stuff if I was in the neighborhood, not a place to go out of the way. What I tried: 1. Gyro: very tasty and meaty, I don't know too many places which mess up a gyro. 2. Fish and Chips: highly impressed, more so because I don't expect a small place like mama's to serve up such a mean fish and chips. Really really fresh, and well seasoned fish. Chips (fries) were the only thing that was kind of disappointing coz they were not crisp (maybe coz I let them sit in the take out box for 5mins. The fish over compensated for the chips. Cons: not too much place to sit, not open till late (till 10:00pm), location is not great.

I hate to be in disagreement with the other high praise this place gets but I try really hard to like it here but it just isn't happening. I've been about half a dozen times now and every time there is an issue. There is always a service problem with the food sitting on the counter for a while while I look at it wondering if anyone who works there is going to notice and give it to me. The last few times I've gone and ordered french fries they've been under cooked and when I ordered the chicken gyro, the chicken was not well prepared in that there was still a lot of nasty parts still attached. This time when I went, I let them know the last few times I was in the fries were under cooked and if they could make sure they weren't this time I would appreciate it. They had changed the fries since the last time I was in and this time they were delicious and perfectly cooked. On the other hand the fish I had ordered to go with them is under cooked and still in my oven baking. As most of their business is take out, and by the time people get home to realize there is an issue, they aren't going to go back to get it corrected (especially if they are walking, like I am) so Mama's Place really needs to step it up in terms of the quality of food going out before they pack it up. I keep trying with this place as it is a family owned restaurant and I try to support my neighborhood places, but they are making it really hard.

Really good dolmades, souvlaki, and spanikopita! Buffalo wings are much better than you'd expect, too.

The food was unbelievable! I had a very important lunch meeting that was going to be for 6 people, and rather than having everyone just order off a menu, or get the standard finger food sandwiches and salad, I decided to get the owner's suggest for a meal. She said "leave it to me", and prepared a spread that impressed a very well known local celebrity as well as visiting dignitaries. This included seasoned meatballs, lemony, feta topped roasted potatoes, a greek salad, spanikopita (spinach pie), dolmades (grapeleaves wrapped around meat and rice filling) and fresh pita bread. For dessert, she included triangle shaped Bougatsa (phyllo wrapped custard soaked in a honey syrup sprinkled with cinnamon) as well as small cups of almond infused rice pudding, dusted with cinnamon again. Everything had the taste of being made that day and with the freshest ingredients. We had an extra guest join us, and there was still enough for everyone to have seconds and still some leftovers. (The two that flew in from Florida were trying to figure out how to take the leftovers back on the plane with them. I have actually never been to the restaurant, but had heard great reviews from friends. The owner went out of her way to give great service and product and made me look VERY good. It was also very very reasonable for all that we had. I look forward to going to the restaurant and will also keep Mamas Place in mind for future events. Definitely a 5 star rating.

I found this place to be quaint, small, and clean. The food was made in a timely manner and the service was great. AND compared to other gyro making places in the Boston area, this one is in the the top 3!

First of all, I am not sure why people rate a place based entirely on their delivery. It doesn't matter what place you order from, if its busy the delivery is going to be slower. That being said, the place is excellent. It's clean, authentic, and the woman in there (I think her name is Tina) is incredibly nice and treats you like her own kid. A classic Greek mom! Anyway- I got the Beef Souvlaki and it was as authentic as it gets. Wonderful people, clean place, and a few seats to enjoy your food at. People rave about their burgers, my brother got one and said it was GREAT. Try it out!

First, I feel obligated to say that never in my life have I written a review, for anything. Now, my boyfriend and I live in a great location with plenty of delivery options for dinner after some of those tediously exhausting work days. Recently, three new casual dining eateries opened close by Subway, Wok and Tok (Asian) and Mama's Place. We tried out all three over the past few weeks, and I must say, the food from Mama's Place was absolutely incredible. The food exceeded my expectations beyond words can say, I would say it's I've even better than some of the food I've received at 4-star fine-dining restaurants. I've tried the Gyro Platter, chicken fingers, french fries, and Daddy's Double Burger. Wow, and I mean WOW. I have never been a big fan of gyros, but Mama's Place turned me on to them. I always worry about chicken fingers and fries, because usually the fries are soggy (especially when ordering for delivery) and quality chicken fingers are difficult to find, but both were incredible; crisp and delicious. Most recently I tried the burger, purely out of curiosity, as I've always detested cheeseburgers, absolutely HATED them. So when I bit into Daddy's Double Burger (medium) I had a life-changing experience. I am so grateful for the chef for showing me what a delicious burger tastes like, it is now my usual order. However, I must note, I tried a bite of my boyfriend's medium-well, and I did think it was not quite as appealing, and after tasting mine, he agreed that the burger cooked medium was the way to go. I would definitely recommend Mama's Place if you're looking for some great food for incredible prices.

It's my first time to Mama's Place and I'm deeply impressed by their food! I ordered fish and chips which i'm absolutely in love with! The fish is super fresh, goes really really well with their homemade tartar sauce. The staffs are friendly and the owner is the sweetest lady i've ever met. It is really impressive to have such a nice and new restaurant around mission hill that is really decent priced and have "bar+restaurant" or even better standard of food and service! Spread the word and check out Mama's. definitely better than other places around this area.

Hmm..

This place is definitely one of my favorite food places for ordering greek food. They cook amazing gyros, kebob dinners, and fish sandwiches. Their curly fries are also a favorite amongst many of my friends. I also really enjoy their rice pilaf, as I am a fan of its lemon taste. The place is small, so I usually get my food delivered. Delivery has always been quick. Their prices, however, I have noticed increased over the past few years.

Amazing gyros and kobobs. And their zitziki is to die for. The guy who owns the place is super nice and almost always gives complimentary rice pudding.

EVER.

  • Elise P.

The food's very good. Their pita and rice are buttered to perfection (perfection is a LOT of butter). Guy working the counter was a awkward though & I couldn't wait to get out of there.

I'm here visiting from Albuquerque, NM and I have to say the food was great and the portions were huge! My Greek Salad was delicious and wouldn't have a problem eating there all the time. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

Fast becoming a regular favorite. Food is great (grilled chicken sandwich in particular, also stuffed grape leaves) and made quickly. Fast delivery, and dudes behind the counter are very nice.

They also deliver for a small fee.

this review is for the gyros. the delicious, delicious gyros. thick, soft, slightly chewy, warm pita loaded with salty, hot gyro, and piled high with fresh veggies and that glorious thick, fresh tzatziki. i'm hooked. i have only ever gotten delivery, but that being said, their delivery is prompt, friendly, and the food still is hot when it arrives. i am a HUGE fan. i just ordered a gyro for lunch.

Had the chicken gyro. Sauce was tasty and the meat was fresh. Small take out place with lots of food options. Will definitely eat here again for a quick bite.

My first time was only 4 stars, but my second time was 5, so I'll report back on time 3.

had the souvlaki and the kebab plates before. the wraps are delicious--but, goodness, are they oily. looking at the saturated baking sheet wrappers, i definitely think the oil overkill. the rice pilaf is a bit superfluous, but if you enjoying having two scoops of rice fill in any lingering corners of your tummy, the plate may be a good choice. its good food, just not something i'd go eat in good healthy conscious more than once a month.
