This restaurant/bar is a great addition to the neighborhood; it's my new favorite spot, beating out Devlin's by a long shot (Devlin's won this title by lack of other options). The skinny: COCKTAILS: Best. Cocktail. I've. Ever. Had. The cantaloupe margarita was to die for. FOOD: I had three small plates: the pretzel bites (good, not amazing, but how can these be amazing?), the meatball (not my favorite, sauce kind of sweet, but my bf liked it), and the deviled eggs (not my favorite in the city by a long shot, but still good). ATMOSPHERE: Industrial feeling, fits right in with the 'hood. I thought it might be overrun by hipsters, but this wasn't the case, at least when I went (for dinner on a Tuesday night in the summer). WAITSTAFF: Bartenders very friendly. I highly recommend Lulu's Allston.

This place is great for both omnivores and vegans. They had enough options that my vegan friend had trouble deciding what to get. In the end she chose their Buddha bowl which she said was good. Their short rib mac n cheese is pretty good, but nothing spectacular (pretty generic mac n cheese, short rib tasty but a little chewy). The bad ass burger is delicious, though was hoping for more beer cheddar cheese soup topping. Pretzel dough.bites are different from what you'd expect, but they're chewy and delicious, and their house-made mustard sauce is awesome. What was really stellar though was the service. The waitress was so nice, and despite being busy our food came out pretty quickly. Overall, solidly good (though not quite spectacular) food, cool atmosphere, and great service.

Listen, I haven't even gotten my food yet and I love this place! Instant service, water and menu in your face like BOOM!! Atmosphere is beautifully trendy with a sexy modern rustic feel. Just finished my Bad Ass Burger! The best medium well done burger I ever had! Beyond juicy! Beyond full and I will be back! Well done Boston well done!

Always wanted to try this place and before we went, we studied the menu and food sounded so good. Went in for a Sunday brunch at around 3ish and loved the vibe. We were sat down with brunch menus and while we were deciding on what to order, our waitress came over and told us have to order in 15 mins because the kitchen is closing for 30 mins to prepare for dinner. We were shocked because they should have told us when we asked for a table. We ordered anyway because we still wanted to try. My husband ordered their burger with their hand cut fries and I ordered the short ribs eggs benedict. My husband went for the fries first thing and so did I. Their fries was so greasy and soggy. It seems like the fries had been sitting in oil for awhile. His burger was also lack of flavor. The short ribs in my eggs benedict had no taste and the dressing didn't have enough flavor. The only thing good was the tots. The only reason I can give them as an excuse is that they were closing their kitchen and the chefs were rushing. Therefore...1 time and last time.

Secret sauces are enticing - a chance for a restaurant to shine. Too bad I only got a thin layer of indistinguishable sauce on my quinoa burger. The burger itself tasted fine - nothing to write home about but decent. I switched out fries for cajun tater tots, which were abundant - everything was served on a cafeteria tray, bringing me back to my days as a wee elementary schooler. Cute presentation, decent food. Not bad, not great. Friend ordered the Lulu burger, which she didn't love (didn't stand out and was unimpressive). We ordered a flatbread with peaches, goat cheese, basil and balsamic vinaigrette on it. Dish overall was shy of hitting great notes. Peaches already made it sweet, they could have done with more herb, less balsamic drizzle (which made it too sugary), and a little more goat cheese. Didn't taste any truffle whatsoever. Not great if you're looking for savory, ok for a sweet tooth. Drinks are solid. If you're looking for spicy beer, come here - packs a good heat! Service - it was a busy Saturday night, but we had food/drinks incorrectly delivered to our table twice and it was difficult flagging our waitress down (took us 3 tries at least). Also took a long time to put our order in. Not timely in checking in on us for garnishes after food was delivered. I get that it gets busy but on top of that it took us a long time to ask for our receipt, and then when split was incorrectly rung up. She was sweet, but there were a lot of glitches in service overall. Something to keep in mind. Maybe it was just that one night, who knows. Still a turnoff. Friendliness level from overall staff is good, though (hostess, bouncer). Overall, since I'm now seeing the rave reviews for brunch, I wouldn't mind checking it out if someone else planned a date. I just wouldn't go out of my way to come back for dinner.

Since my last review, I have come back several times, and I am just going to update on the meals. Lulu's still remians my favorite spot to grab a drink, sit at the bar or high top, and catch up with friends. The atmosphere is inviting, low key, but you still feel that you are in the city. The menu is constantly changing, which is exciting (But sometimes disappointing if I really like a dish!). I feel lucky to have Lulu's as my neighborhood joint. Since my first review, I have tried the: -Hake (so much flavor, fresh, delicious) -Mac n Cheese (very creamy, thick... almost too much for my liking and gave me a stomach ache after.... however... if you like super thick, creamy mac n cheese then this is ideal!), -Smores Pancakes- tastes as good as, and exactly like they sound... I didn't even know this was possible but I am obsessed that it is! -Mama's fried chicken breast- now i was a little hesitant to get this after my last experience with the chicken, but I figured it was cooked differently so I gave it a try. I am so thankful! It was probably the best fried chicken I ever had. It was crispy, and the honey glaze was to die for... literally! Probably one of the best meals I have had at lulu's yet. In my last review, I was debating between a 3 and a 5, so I settled for a 4 . Having been back several times now, the scale definitely goes towards a 5. Lulu's, you swayed me!

A year has gone by and I have rather changed my opinion about this place. In a suburb of Boston that is slowly becoming overrun by Korean restaurants, and bars that blast nothing but top 40 music, Lulu's is a nice escape. Especially since it's on Cambridge street, right next to the Shisha Lounge - a more chill side of Allston. The key to this place is to find the dish you like and stick to it. For me, that has become their pulled pork sandwich. Really can't go wrong with it. I haven't had the burger yet, but it looks like one, so probably tastes like one too. I've tried a few bites of the 'hipster wrap' too, and its, just alright. It's like a greek/falafel wrap type of deal. But if you're really craving that, I'd just go to Garlic N' Lemons. If I'm certain about one thing, be absolutely sure to get the tots with your meal. They're super awesome. Beer selection is on point as well. They seem to rotate their lines around fairly quickly, so it's always exciting to see what new things they have. This place also has a nice, relaxed and social atmosphere where you can bring a few friends and actually have a conversation. I can't say the same for half of the other bar/restaurants in Allston where I have to yell for my friends to hear me.

Amazing!! I'm sad I never tried this spot out before! Service is wonderful and you get your food so fast! I think it literally took 9 minutes from the time our order was taken until we got the food! We ordered the famous white trash hash (tater tots, 2 sunny side up eggs, short ribs and hollandaise sauce) farmer's omelette (spinach, caramelized onions, tomatoes and goat cheese) with a bloody mary (which was quite spicy!) and we devoured it. It was SO good! Not too cheap, not too expensive. Also, a great spot to come to meet friends and grab a drink and watch sports games! I'l definitely be coming back here more often :)

This is the kind of place that everyone finds themself craving after a night out, with its fun atmosphere and menu that offers an abundant selection of comfort food and drinks. Unfortunately it's quite packed on Sunday afternoons, so we waited almost an hour for a table. Thankfully the food was so delicious that the wait was well worth it. I came here with 4 other people, and since everyone ordered something different, I was able to sample a large part of the menu. We ordered the S'mores Pancakes, Hair of the Dog Pancakes, Protein Packed Omelette, Farmhouse Omelette (with a side of Turkey), White Trash Hash, Baked French Toast Casserole and a side of Cajun Tots. Out of everything my favourite was the Hair of the Dog Pancakes - they were massive, and had a very unique and slightly salty taste which was fabulous with the bloody mary butter and some syrup. Everything else was also very tasty, and creative. To sum up: - French Toast Casserole is perfect for anyone who's a fan of bread pudding because they share the same consistency - egg lovers should try an omelette - the eggs were SO fluffy and perfectly cooked - the White Trash Hash is unlike anything i've ever tasted, and a good way for you to also try Lulu's AMAZING tots - S'mores Pancakes should be ordered by anyone who believes that sugar is the most important ingredient in any recipe. The waitresses at Lulu's were very friendly and came by our table frequently to refill our water glasses and clear plates off the table. Thank you Lulu's, and thank you Phantom Gourmet for telling me about this hidden gem in Allston!

I'm really fortunate to have such a variety of places to eat in my neighborhood. And Lulu's is added to that list. I really love Lulu's. The atmosphere is great, their drinks are great and the food is great! Each time I have come, it's been on a not so busy night and we were able to get a table right away. Service is great and they don't bother you too often, I think most people come here just to relax and have good time. They have really unique doughnut hole flavors: Fruity Pebbles and Kit kat are the two I have tried. Mac n cheese is amazing and the tater tots with the cheese sauce, like wuttttttt. Burgers and sandwhiches are a safe bet.

Went for dinner. Nice looking place with nice menus, everything seemed so promising. I got the Badass Burger and my bf got the short rib mac & cheese. Also got two ciders (one of each offered). Mac & cheese was bland. Very bland. My dish was served in some kind of tray lined with paper. My guess is the paper was there to soak up all the grease, but it didn't work, because everything was drowning in sauce and the oil from the chili cheese fries. The chili was actually decent, but the fries were so soggy eating them felt depressing. Burger was so-so, meat was cooked perfectly BUT the patty felt very rubbery, which is supposedly a sign of having worked the meat too hard. The bun was unfortunately soggy as well. Bottomline: food was extremely mediocre. Ciders, however, were fantastic! I recommend trying both. I may return for breakfast at some point.

When this place first opened I was all about it as the interior of the restaurant is really nice & spacious and the beer selection is great. I have been back 5 or so times since and sadly it's gotten progressively worse. The service is seriously horrible and a few times now I have had multiple different servers who were super unfriendly and inhospitable not to mention you have to constantly flag them down. If you go during brunch on a weekend forget it because they don't turn tables well here during a rush so you could be waiting for awhile. The menu is fun but hit or miss (white trash hash is great while mexican cheetos not so much). It's a decent option but given some of the other good places in the area even right up the street (Lone Star, Deep Ellum, Roxy's) I would probably pass on giving Lulu's another go unless I was just looking to go have a beer at the bar.

This has quickly become one of our favorite brunch spots where we bring all of our out of town friends! The menu is unique and the food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the hair of the dog pancakes (beer pancakes with bacon IN them? ok....) and the boy always gets the short rib mac and cheese. The drink menu is also extensive, but the bloody Marys are a great go to. Even though they are always crowded for brunch we have always been seated promptly, and comfortably. Although they are accessible- I'm not actually sure that the bathrooms are, but I haven't actually pursued finding out. I do know they are downstairs, and there's an accessible stall, but I'm not sure there's an elevator- so there's some irony for ya. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to consider if you are going to plan to hang out all day (which would be easy to do). We have it on our list to come back for lunch or dinner and experience the rest of the menu. Love you LuLu's!!!! Welcome to the neighborhood!!!

Went for Breakfast Sat morning... Food: 2 Stars - I got the Hipster Hollandaise... i get eggs Benedict everywhere and this was by far the worst. No taste.. not enough seasoning... same with the potatoes. Go somewhere else for benedict. My boy friend got the black bean burger... which I tried. Waaay to much filling with breading.. hardly any black beans or seasoning. So super disappointed with the food considering breakfast was recommended there to me... i remember going for dinner another time and being underwhelmed then too. Seems they have good reviews on other things but didn't like what we got and we consider ourselves foodies. Nice beer selection. Would go back just for drinks. Ambiance : 4 stars.. cool spot. Air was circulating well but a little loud. Service : 3 stars - food came fast considering the amount of people in there, but waitress was just eh... we asked for siracha but she brought Tabasco saying they were all on other tables... sever 101... go to a table that's done and ask them if you can take it.. at a quick glance i saw right off the bat the table diagonal from us had an unused one and the bar had like 4!... and she never checked back to see how the food was. Just my opinions.. take it or leave it. I'm a 30 year old female, prior server, cook and catering manager. If you like bland America food and a lot of meat this might be for you. But def not for a vegetarians or people who like things with flavor.

I had never even heard of Lulu's until my friend suggested it last weekend. Being located where it is, i was expecting a dive bar more like the Silhouette or the Draft. Im happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere Very young, hip vibe. Most of the customers were young professionals, giving off a different feel from the normal Allston college scene. Definitely not a place to go on a friday night if you're looking for a good time. Lulu's is more of a "grab a drink with a friend you haven't seen in a while" kind of place. FOOD The menu is awesome. The food is full of classic dishes with modern twists. We ordered the tater tots and the "mexican cheetos." Both were cheap and delicious. I was mostly just curious what mexican cheetos were and ill admit they were really good! Basically they were puffed up noodles with the same normal cheeto texture sprinkled with a tasty cheese powder. The cheetos also come with a dipping sauce that is VERY hot. So beware DRINKS Lulu's has a TON of beer on tap and good prices too. There were plenty of different types including more high end options listed as "rare." ADVICE Don't go to Lulus expecting a crazy dance party. Its a very low key place with a few tvs and an awesome beer selection. This is where you would go if you're just looking to grab a drink with some friends.

There is a lot going on with the menu here. I was a little concerned that so many combos of menu items would blow my mind and not get me to choose something to eat. I'm not a big breakfast or brunch fan, so I went with the roast beef sandwich. It was a normal RB sandwich with tator tots. Looking at what everybody else ordered, I think everybody really enjoyed their meals. I only give this place 3 stars because I am not a breakfast fan and because I'm pretty sure our waitress served me decaf coffee and swore it was regular. Orange handle means decaf...I'm not picking on you, I'm just telling it like it is.

Summary: The service spoils the experience. Pros: Cajun tots are the best tots in the city; beer selection Neutral: The beer selection is less than adequately varied for its size, breadth, and quality. It is too much influenced by the current myopic trend towards West Coast-style IPA's and dIPA's. Cons: Lackadaisical waitstaff Apparently, 1 pm is still brunch time on a summer Saturday, which means you cannot get "lunch." I was unpleased to find that any item on their apparently and inexplicably weekday-only lunch menu but not on their brunch menu was completely unavailable on a weekend, even if asked for. I could understand this if it involved an ingredient or two that was not available, but I asked for the EBLT--eggs, bacon, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli, and Texas toast. Every item appeared in at least one of the "brunch" menu items. So, all the ingredients were in house, but apparently ordering them to come together is too much. Explain that, please! So, I ordered the roast beef. It was unevenly piled on the bun, so my outer bites were without meat. It was confoundedly cold and tough, and it was flavorless. How can the taste of a roast beef sandwich with a horseradish sauce be completely overpowered by the arugula, tomato, and onion? To say I was disappointed was to be an understatement. If the Cajun tots weren't delicious, the meal would have been a total bust. Then, leaving took 15 minutes longer than necessary. When the waitress cleared our dishes, I told her that we were done. Generally, that's the cue to the server to get the patrons the check. It took at least 10 minutes to finally get her attention to ask for the check. It took a while longer to get her attention to collected the credit card. (In her defense, our server looked to be the only one working hard, for every other server was hardly working, spending plenty of time gossiping at the servers' bar.)

Brunch is worth the extra star. My friends and I went at prime brunch time on a Sunday and were quoted 40 minutes for a table. We decided to wait it out since we needed some catch up time anyways. We were seated much quicker than 40 minutes, I think we waited half the amount of time. I appreciated the quick service. Got a bloody mary because they looked so damn good waiting for our table. It was good, but I personally needed to add some more pepper to it. I got the White Trash Hash, probably one of their more popular brunch choices, but it hit the spot. Eggs and hollandaise over a bunch of tots. My friend got the rice krispie french toast with blueberry compote. Really fun spin on boring french toast! I'd probably come back for brunch over anything else. It's a good place to take people from out of town!

Had brunch and it was great! Came with two other people around noon and waited for about 20 min so not bad. The coffee is great here. Not bitter with hints of cinnamon. Ordered the donut holes to share which was perfect. Donuts were nice and warm and the texture reminded me of a mix of churros and funnel cakes. The chocolate dipping sauce was perfect too not too sweet. For my meal got the white trash hash. The combo of tater tots, meat, and runny egg was perfect. Add siracha and it elevates the dish even more! Definitely would come back

I came here for brunch and it definitely did not disappoint! I came on a Sunday afternoon, which is prime brunch time, and even though there were a lot of people on line ahead of us, the wait wasn't that bad at all! The food is extremely affordable and reasonable priced. Honestly, I would probably pay more if they priced it higher and wouldn't give it a second thought. Some of the plates have short ribs which can usually make the dish pricier but I don't think that was the case at all at this place. I got the white trash hash and it's definitely a lot of bang for your buck. All the entrees have an abundance of food and I was more than satisfied with my portion size. I also tried the pink lemon and it was really good. It was basically a pink lemonade champagne spritzer and it's a great brunch/day drink. It was sweet but not too sweet and just the right touch of alcohol. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is that I don't think their eggs are poached very well. The whole point of a poached egg is to be able to cut into the middle and have the yolk just pour out. My eggs were over-"poached" and I thought it was just mine, but my friend who got an eggs Benedict was no different. For an eggs Benedict, it's almost mandatory that the yolk is runny so I really don't know how a place that serves brunch could really mess that up. All in all, I could look over this because it really is a great place. Just learn to poach your eggs! That's brunch 101!

Summertime has a new address, and it's in Allston. Lulu's is a welcome addition to the neighborhood - it has all the charm of Deep Ellum but enough space that you can actually sit with your friends and chill for a long time without being rushed. Plus, the food and drinks were well crafted and delicious. The prices were especially spot-on - $14 for fried chicken and mashed potatoes, $12 for "chicken fried" with a salad (and the salad was incredible. I could have eaten just that and been happy). None of their main dishes were more than $15 - a rarity for dinner menus in this city. And their specialty cocktails ran from $9-12 and were worth every penny - my friend got the cranberry mojito and it was perfectly refreshing. She also swore that their sweet tequila (recommended by the bartender) was the best tequila she's ever had in her life. The dessert was awesome too - we skipped the donuts in favor of the monkey bread, but I'd come back sometime to try them all. Next time I return, I hope for slightly more consistent service (people seemed a bit distracted, but they just opened so I'll cut them some slack) and more/any vegetarian side options. They were kind enough to make my friends a side of asparagus when they didn't want a salad, but I'd love to see some other options to go with their delicious dishes of chicken, wild boar, burgers, and more. In short: worth the trek, worth the price, and worth a visit this summer.

My liquid diet was the white cosmo and it was utterly amazing that I had to have more than 1. So much better than the regular one. With a twist of lemon I thought it would be strong but it was perfect. Other than finding parking which is typical for that area it was nice for an after work get together.

I was skeptical because this area can be a bit dicey at times-- we found side street parking almost immediately! They open for brunch at 10:30 on Sunday and I suggest you get there right away or you will be waiting! The music was a bit loud but it actually seemed to be totally fine. We ordered a sandwich to split and it was huge and delicious. Recommend the tater tots to ANYONE! If I hadn't been watching my weight, we would have ordered them. Also, a friend got a man-mosa and it seemed delish. Bloodies looked yummy as well. Will definitely be back! Service was great too.

Have you ever fallen in love with something that you know is bad for you? Well that's how I feel about the short rib mac and cheese. It's so good, if someone proposed to me with this instead of a ring I would still say yes. The cheese has this creamy flavorful taste and it's so smooth. Don't worry about your mac and cheese being dry, it was covered with gooey goodness. BTW it's the same cheese they used for their pretzels bites.

I went to Lulu's for brunch last Saturday with a small group of friends and really liked it! It was a nice day so they had all the windows open and the wait was not that long. Their Bloody Mary's are delicious as well as the spiked ice coffees. We also really enjoyed the food and tried a bunch of the items - Eggs Benny, Protein Omelet, 2 eggs meal, White trash hash and of course the doughnuts for dessert. I recommend all of it - except I would like crispier potatoes.

Super good food. Beer/cider selection is pretty large. They offer a "Village Keg" for $3.50. They can't tell you what it is exactly, but they will tell you what type of beer it is. Sometimes you get burned though - last time I was told "Summer Ale", then between the waitress putting in the order and a runner bringing us the beer, the keg was changed to a Curry-flavored Stout - which very literally ended my night after a single sip.

Great beer selection, great/unique food items. Definitely recommend the pretzel and tater tot appetizers!! Favorite part of this place is the atmosphere. So open and modern, feels very clean and welcoming. On warm days the windows open completely so you might as well be outdoors. Brunch here is also amazing, shouldn't be missed!!

Wandered in Lulu's on a Sunday right before the kitchen closed after drinks. Asked what was good and the server, who was so nice, said the chicken. THE CHICKEN!!! It has this like buttery, beer batter, something. IT WAS SO GOOD! The mashed potatoes. I'm picky about my mash. It was soooo good. I mean like "Damn this is good!" type of good. I cant wait to go back and try more things. Such a delightful surprise.

Not much I can say except for the fact that the fried chicken is the best I've had in the city. Lulu's also has a great beer selection and a nice ambiance. Can't wait to try other items from the menu. Definitely a type of place that creates regular customers.

A quick review of ordering takeout only. An unfortunate side-effect of ordering takeout from a not-really-a-takeout place is that by the time you eat it, everything is a little lukewarm instead of hot. I think that made a big difference, however I'm not sure I would have bumped this up to four stars even if the food was piping hot. The deviled eggs were really good - smoky - and I enjoy that there are four in an order. The pretzel buns were a little whatever, although the tater tots were delicious. We got two different kinds of mac n' cheese - short rib and pulled pork. I'd stick with the short rib if I were you. Also I'm pretty sure the cheesy sauce that comes with the mini pretzel buns is the same cheesy sauce that is on the mac n' cheese. It's tasty at first, but after a while it just feels too velveeta-y. We originally wanted the porter braised pork shank but unfortunately they were out of it, so we ordered a special they had of beef tip kebabs on mashed potatoes. The potatoes were awesome, the kebabs not so much. The meat was pretty gristly and the veggies that were on the skewers (mushrooms & pepper) didn't really have much flavor. The standout for me was the wild game frito chili pie. I actually never asked what the "wild game" component was, and essentially it was just tasty chili on top of some-crunchy/some-soggy fritos, but I really liked it. We tried the "Grandma's Warm Caramel Apple Monkey Bread" for dessert, and rewarmed it in the office for a few minutes. It was dry, had no caramel, very little cream cheese icing, and was overall pretty bad. Now that I think about it, and am looking at some people's pictures of the dish, I think they gave us something else? I don't think there were any apples in it either. It was like a dry cinnamon bun. Maybe this is one of areas in which it would have been vastly better in the restaurant, but I think it's possible some of the other dishes might have gotten 2 stars when dining-in, so an average of 3 seems reasonable. I'm glad I tried it, would probably be happy there again if I was in the neighborhood, but this likely won't be on my "to recommend" list just yet.

Great food! The kitchen had a issue with food timing on almost every table for Sunday brunch. Half the meals would come out and the rest would be at least ten minutes late. My food was a bit cold too. They need to work on timing! However the food and mimosas were great!

A new place in Allston? Not exactly a rarity, but it was brunch and I was ready. We checked out the menu before heading in, and I had my eye on the Thai Black Bean Quinoa burger. I ordered that and my bf ordered the Lulu Burger. Both were served with a puny pile of fries which I was sad about because you know homegirl has gotta get her fries on. I was afraid the burger was going to be crumbly and dry but it was kind of the opposite. It was pretty moist and so soft that just biting through the bun caused the burger to squish out of the back of the bun and eventually plop onto my tray (trays here, not plates). The flavor wasn't bad, but the texture was totally just mush. The prices and service were average, but the restaurant was clean. The decor seemed a little sparse in places but maybe they're still working on that. I really wanted to try the fried chicken but it wasn't on the brunch menu so I'll probably be back to try that and share my thoughts.

Brunch gets a sympathetic 1 star. The other star was for how understandably busy they were today, given it was standard Sunday Brunch. That said, service was terrible. I can't stress it enough. John, our waiter, was very nice and we all felt for him given that we all have experience working in service, but unfortunately it didn't seem that the kitchen could handle the capacity. We ordered two mimosa buckets, a few coffees, and waters, and while we waited a bit for those orders, they did arrive at some point (perhaps 20 minutes for the first round and then 45 minutes plus for the second). It was a bit strange to be waiting for champagne flutes to be washed or mimosa buckets to be cleaned, etc. which probably should have indicated that something was off -- either they didn't have enough supplies or efficient staff (though I'm not harping on staff -- it just looked like they were all frazzled -- we understand). Unfortunately, we ended up waiting AN HOUR for food! The tables around us had turned over twice before we saw any inkling of our meals. The only factor that could have redeemed them at that point was delicious food and we were hungry, so it really didn't have to be much. Disappointed again, my husband's burger was well done, while he had specified that it be medium-rare or rare -- come on, give me some bloody cow) and our friends' meals were cold to the touch. Needless to say, we won't be returning. Sorry, Lulu's -- we really wanted to give you a chance.

Any place that offers a bucket of mimosas and a pitcher of bloody marys for brunch is a-OK with me. Three of us arrived for brunch just as they opened on a Sunday (10:30), which was a good thing too because by the time we left, the place was packed and there was a line out the door (mostly students, looked like). Aside from the buckets and pitchers, Lulu's actually has a pretty well-curated and interesting craft beer list, so this seems to be a great stop for lunch, dinner, or just a few drinks with friends. Two of us split the bucket of mimosas, which came with a bottle of sparkling wine plus three small cups with different citrus juices (mango, orange, and grapefruit) to customize how you'd like, a great idea and one I think they should market a bit more (it wasn't indicated on the menu). Our table split the $3 herby tater tots which were excellent, fresh from the fryer and seasoned well, with a nice aioli for dipping. I went with the Hair of the Dog pancakes (pilsner and bacon pancakes with bloody mary butter and maple syrup), which were light, fluffy, and flavorful, and perfectly filling (3 good-sized pancakes left me filled, but not achingly full, nor with a gut bomb that can sometimes happen with bready breakfast items). Around the table, the Thai Quinoa and Bean burger had a nice kick to it and was a unique and tasty take on a veggie burger, and the pumpkin stuffed french toast was solidly good. Service was pretty standard, nothing special but not terrible; another server tried to bring our table food we didn't order that somehow ended up on our bill, but once we pointed this out, it was taken off without trouble. All in all, I think Lulu's has a lot going for it, and I'd be happy to return.

I actually heard about Lulu's through the Boston Eater blog online. I went the second day it was open and was impressed! We started off with a couple drinks.. my boyfriend got a beer and I got the one of the cocktails. Mine was a little too sweet but it was stillg good. For food, we decided to start off with the truffle tots. They were delicious! the garlic mayo that came with them was awesome as well. Big portion too for only $3! For our entrees, I got the Korean bbq pork sandwich with kimchi and asian slaw on the side. It was SO good. The pork was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the roll it came on was soft, the kimchi was delicious and the asian slaw was yummy as well. I could only eat half but ended up eating the rest when I got home. All that for only $10. Again, so worth it. My boyfriend got the Lulu's burger. He had no complaints. Cooked just how he asked, also juicy and flavorful. Our waitress was very attentive the entire time and super friendly as well. The place started to fill up half way through our meal because of the World Cup but that didnt really bother us. I can't wait to come back again!

Really cool new spot. Met the owner, Justin, and he's super friendly and very accommodating. He introduced himself to us right away (a plus!). There are a lot of TVs so you can watch games (right now World Cup 2014 is playing!). There's high-chair tables next to patio windows so there's a lot of fresh air circulating (great for summer nights!). Quite an extensive beer and cocktail menu and there's a lot of variety in terms of food. Out waitress Nicole is handling our party of 20 people with efficiency. Very chill atmosphere and the decor gives off a very inviting vibe. Definitely coming back to this spot! I had a really good first impression of this place.

We found this place by accident - on New Year's Day we were headed to the Allston Diner but noticed Lulu's next door: and I'm damn glad we did! The place is new (opened in May '14) and has a great ambience with a nice windowed front and a bar with at least three dozen drafts. The menu is also great: I had wild game chili and the absolute best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Highly recommended!

Saw this place on Phantom Gourmet and stopped by for brunch. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD kinds of good. I had the hair of the dog pancakes (beer pancakes w bacon in them) but I really lost my shit over my bf's dish- the white trash hash (tater tots, braised short rib, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce). GODDAMN! No jokes, It was the highlight of my weekend. Even their coffee had me going crazy with some delicious spices. The atmosphere is hip but not the annoying hipstery that makes you want to take a shower when u leave. The service was good but not outstanding (I think she was new?). I didn't care bc I was too busy shoving down that awesome food and instagramming the shit out of it too. See you for round two, lulu's! (And it's owned by a girl! Girl power fuck yeah)

Best snack, great service, awesome beers, bartenders are smokes, good vibe all around. Better than where I work. Get the tots. A hidden gem that's just waiting to blow up.

A new bar in Allston. Yay. I was walking home from Deep Ellum and saw that it was finally open after a couple months of teasing. Overall, it was pretty decent. It's definitely a bro "craft beer" bar. They were playing Jack Johnson and Sublime and it seemed like a lot of the patrons there were friends with the bartenders (owners?). They did play a Cam'ron jam, which is always appreciated. They had a pretty big draft beer selection, and while a lot of it was pretty safe stuff (Goose Island, Sam Adams, Golden Monkey, etc). There is a "fancy" menu with some good stuff. I think they have a cordials license, so all the liquor is all kind of gross sugar flavored stuff, but their cocktails seemed like they were honestly trying to do the best they could with it, and some of them actually sounded decent. The cordials license thing is not their fault, it's the archaic Massachusetts licensing laws, which is too bad because it really limits new, young bars from fully exploring their potential. That shit needs to get fixed by the state government, and soon. Their food menu looks pretty good. It's a mix of standard bar food with some stuff that's more adventurous than a lot of the bars around the Allston area. They have a lot of vegetarian stuff and a few vegan options. They gave me an order of their "Mexican Cheetos" for free, which were decent... they were some kind of corn puff type things, but they came with dipping sauce that was based on Tapatio hot sauce, which was awesome. Their veggie burger and some of the other vegetarian/vegan stuff sounded awesome and I would have gotten it if I hadn't just eaten. The place is bigger than I expected and roomy, with a lot of tables and decent looking seating all around (it's a mix of all chair tables and these fancy white booth/sofa type things). The bartenders (owners?) were friendly and enthusiastic and were obviously both bar veterans (a couple of people there said they had previously worked with one of them as their manager). The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming. It's seems like a pretty decent place, someplace that is "normy by nature" but is trying hard to accommodate the rest of us in Allston with their big beer list and vegetarian and vegan food. I'll definitely go back and try the "THAI QUINOA BLACK BEAN BURGER", because it sounds awesome. Overall, I'm pretty stoked that there is another bar nearby that has some decent food and beer options. Hope this place sticks around.

Came here during the dinner rush on a Saturday and we were promptly seated, which was nice. I ordered a beer from their extensive beer list. My boyfriend, on the other hand, was in the mood for liquor and ordered a vodka soda. The waitress said they couldn't make it because all of their liquors (vodka, rum, whiskey, etc) are all specialty flavors used specifically for their cocktails. The cocktail list didn't look too bad, but if you're looking for your usual mixed drink, you won't find it here. As for the food, we started with the truffle tots with garlic mayo, which were very crispy and delicious. For our meals we got the short rib tacos and short rib mac and cheese...I know, that's a lot of short rib, but it was good. The tacos were very good, as well. The mac and cheese can be summed up in one word: Velvetta. Lucky for me, I actually quite like Velvetta (embarrassing admission). Overall, it was a decent meal and affordable for the area. I'll be back to check out the brunch.

My friend and I came in expecting a nice bar with solid bar food and that's what we got! Food: Overall, the tater-tots and srircha-tots were very basic. But, bonus points for the mayonnaise-dipping sauce for the tater-tots. After reading the reviews, I was excited to try the donut holes! The flavor changes between KIT KAT and FRUIT PEBBLES, depending on the Chef's mood, and it was F.P. that night. First, the good: it's freshly made and delicious! Secondly, kudos to the Chef for the creativity of combining a fun kid cereal (a side of nostalgia, please!) with the adult guilty pleasure that is the donut (D'oh!). But, the bar was so dark that I could not see the fun colors of the F.P. (until I ate the last remaining donut hole the next day at home, and it was still delicious). The taste of any dish is affected by input from the visual and olfactory senses, so, I think that having the bar be so dark was a bit of a flaw in the interior design. And given the fact that bar food can be a hit or miss at times, I really do appreciate being able to clearly see what I am putting in my mouth. Also, my friend and I felt that the size of the holes were a bit on the larger side (= messier and more awkward to eat). Service: Slow, but, friendly. Ambiance: It was a weekday night and so, although it is a sports bar, it was not that loud and rowdy (which my date and I appreciated). The interior design was fun, but, wicked dahk. (I would have appreciated a little more or ?better lighting). BOTTOM LINE: I had fun! The donut holes were delicious and that much more exciting because I could not see them well! I can't wait to come back and try out different dishes!

I have only been here twice and so far, I'm super impressed. They have great drinks and the Lulus burger is ahhhmazing. For the Allston/ Brighton area this is a classy edition. The turkey sandwich is so basic it hurt my feelings. Seriously? It's on wonder bread.

Came in for dinner and drinks on a Thursday night. Place was busy but we got a table (party of 2) with no wait. I had the lulu's burger with truffle tots and a couple cantaloupe margaritas. All of the above was delicious. I hate when restaurants overcook a "medium" burger (aka it's a dry brown hockey puck when it gets to me) but this burger was cooked perfectly, still juicy and hot. Our server was great and so was the atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable as well. I will definitely be back, thanks, Lulu's!

Hm. I went to Lulu's recently and it certainly wasn't as good as I remembered. The place itself looks great. The food is OK and the service was OK, but I've definitely had better. When we were seated it definitely took a little too long for anyone to come over and even asked if we would like anything to drink. By the time we were ordering, someone in my group asked for pickles on her burger. But wait. They didn't have pickles. No pickles? What? Moreover, I ordered the classic benedict. The eggs themselves were awesome, but the Hollandaise sauce was wayyyyyy to creamy and thick to eat. I mean, the eggs are already yolky (great!) but that along with a super thick hollandaise? No, thanks. It didn't make me feel great at all -- just a little sick due to the sickness. For the benedict, I recommend going a little lighter. The taste was aite, but the texture of the sauce was way too overwhelming to enjoy fully.

Came for a birthday brunch on a rainy weekend and was seated on an elevated section of the restaurant which made it intimate but the lighting was tough and we had to tip our menus to be able to see. There was a TV hung way up high over the table if you want to be anti social and crane your neck to watch. Waitress was very helpful and attentive. The table shared several orders of tater tots. I like to consider my group of friends tater tot connoisseurs. We are fans of the tots at Tavern in the Square but these were pretty bomb because they are so crunchy. Also shared the banana foster french toast which was indeed banana-y and sweet so if you have a serious sweet tooth then this is your answer. The hair of the dog pancakes were bacon-y....not something I would order again just because I like bacon by itself. And the farmhouse omelet was good and satisfying. It's a bday brunch so of course we got the pitchers of drinks. The bloody pitcher was missing something. It was spicy but perhaps not peppery spicy...I can't put my finger on it. The mimosa pitcher comes with 3 mixer options - cranberry, orange and i think grapefruit - so you can make your own mimosa. Overall tater tots were the fave. The service was good and decor is a cute. Kind of reminds me of something you would find in Brooklyn. can't really speak to the ambiance because it was fairly quiet at brunch. I would def come back to check out the dinner.

Great craft beer selection. Nice little sports bar. Seemed as though it was off the radar of the younger Allston crowd. Wait staff was on point on a really busy night. They accommodated our large group extremely well. Would def recommend for a date or groups.

LuLu's is a lot of fun to go with a group of friends for brunch. For college aged to mid 20 years old this would be the spot to have a Sunday Funday. The music is "pump-up" music that is sometimes too loud or intense but again if you there to get your drink on- the music is hardly noticeable. The food was really good, I had the eggs Benedict (one egg actually was cooked too long and did not ooze out) which was very good and the donut holes with chocolate sauce which was amazing.

I've been here 4 times now and have always enjoyed the food, beer selection, service and space. Try the house-roasted turkey, it's delicious. TO THE MANAGEMENT: please, for the love of all things holy, change the music. "Whoomp! There It Is"? "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It"? The Bel Biv Devoe early 90s soundtrack is puzzling and irritating in an otherwise modern industrial-chic casual bar & grille. Your soundtrack is the bitter pill I swallow when I am craving your Thai quinoa black bean burger... I say this with love so that you may enjoy a long-term residence in the neighborhood, and so we can keep enjoying your tasty vittles.

Was greatly anticipating my first visit to Lulu's ever since I heard it would be moving into LA. I live right down the road and am looking for a great new spot for drinks, good food, and a good atmosphere. Started out a draft stout (they have plenty) with Pretzel Bites with cheese sauce...SUPER GOOD! Then the Bad Ass Burger. I was expecting the burger to be more "messy," as I could still eat it with my hands. Bun was great, meat combo of beef and short rib is spot on. The chili cheese fries could have been more chili-er and more cheesy-er. The chili was not as soupy as I would like. Still a great burger for the price. Finished off with Peanut Butter Donuts. Delicious. Best to split after a big meal. The food quality, atmosphere, and affordable pricing was the main driver for the 4 stars. The service on my visit was just OK. I could tell my server was in training, but the 10+ minute wait after finishing and getting the check is a no-no. I'll be back to try more stuff on their great menu.

This place was solidly okay. Ambiance is pretty cool inside. Lots of tables and a decent amount of bar space. I really liked the lighting and decorations. Very chill overall. My neighborhood has definitely been missing a laid-back bar like this. Beer selection is great and CHEAP. Lots of taps that I haven't seen anywhere else. Unfortunately they only serve beer, wine, and sweet mixed cocktails (no hard liquors), but the excellent beer list is enough of a draw for me. Food was mediocre, but I think a lot of that can be chalked up to opening-week jitters. There were no huge taste issues (for example, the fried chicken was burned, they were out of a bunch of stuff, etc.), so I definitely think things will improve as they get settled. Another issue is that it was extremely loud inside. It was really hard to hear the people at my table without yelling at each other. Overall, I am pleased with Lulus and plan to be back. I do think I'll give it another few weeks before trying the food again to see if they can work out the kinks.

Went opening week - had a great vibe in a community that's becoming more and hip (thanks to the addition of places like Roxys). Something that I've also noticed is that the whole street is very friendly to Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Veg etc...so very nice to see. The food itself was ok. We started with taterz totz which came clumped together (probably due to the fryer, maybe they were frozen together. The pretzel rolls are more like dinner rolls than actual pretzels so it was a bit disappointing. The korean sandwich was decent but was missing some key flavor and texture elements. My friend who got the quinoa salad was a bit dissapointed how small and underwhelming it was Beer Selection - Fantastic Liquor - I got sangria...it wasn't anything special with lots of club soda and a stale lime on top I think they're still going through some growing pains but could be a great addition to Allston. Is it better than deep ellum...probably not

We checked out this new Allston bar yesterday. Overall, we had a pretty positive experience with a few caveats: 1. This may seem like a random issue, but the lighting in the bar was rather dim which made it difficult to see the menus (they were dark brown.) I would suggest making the menu's a lighter color or making the lights a bit less dim. 2. I couldn't quite place my finger on what kind of ambiance Lulu's was going for. It seems like the menu was a fusion of regular bar food and Thai/Korean specialties. This seems slightly out of place and I was wishing for something in between just a regular burger and more specific Asian dishes. 3. Would love it if they had a good brunch! The waitress did mention this was in the works. Now for the positives: 1. Excellent beer selection 2. The burger I had was good. 3. Friendly staff I think this is a promising start but Lulu's would be well advised to try to further differentiate themselves from the other bars in the area through either the menu or something else like maybe a live band. They also have the space to perhaps do something more nightlife-y during Fridays/Saturdays.

Been here twice now, so good! The atmosphere is hip, inviting. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a great place for any occasion, went with the girls for brunch and with my BF for date. The food is fantastic and they offer a lot of unique beer and cocktail choices. They even have mimosa buckets with brunch. Here's what I've had so far... Mexican Cheetos: fun, inventive. The side sauce is pretty spicy (which I prefer) but it may be too much for some Herb tater tots: Crispy, addictive, they'll be gone before you know it Donut holes: hot, fresh, yummy chocolate dipping sauce Caramel apple monkey bread: it's as good as it sounds Short rib Mac and cheese: they openly use velveeta, but it's awesome, it's a classic! Fried chicken sandwiches: great toppings, bacon, potato salad spread, mmmm Maple creme brûlée: great flavor, sugar wasn't carmelized enough (no crack) but I think only chefs would care, still tasted great Bottom line, this place shouldn't be missed, great addition to Allston!

My new favorite neighborhood bar for sure! Every time I've gone here since they opened it's been a great experience. From the refurbished industrial atmosphere to the hella friendly overly goodlooking bartenders, and them bomb ass cheap eats, it's worth the visit. 3.50 village kegs, never know what it's gonna be but Hell's yeah why not live a little more ambiguously I figured? Well played indeed and deeeeeelucious. French onion deviled eggs were great. S'mores pancakes brunch was so good with my spiked iced coffee. Nothing I've ever got here has been bad I promise. (And I can be a needy bitch.) Check. It. Out.

Decided to stop in on a Sunday afternoon (seems to be the trend), and we were invited to sit wherever we like. The first two tables nearest the door were dirty. Typically not a big deal, but they weren't busy at all (having worked years in the industry - it's just a pet peeve of mine). Our server did promptly clean the table we chose though. Decor. It's fun, playful and industrial - which works really well in the area of Allston the joint is located. Clean, simple yet chic and whimsy Beers. They have a lot. Which in my mind can be really good and really bad at the same time. Sunset has a lot of beers on tap. Along with a sheet, view-able by the public, in regards to weekly (Beer) line maintenance and cleaning by a professional cleaning company that specializes in that sort of thing. Again - having worked in the industry for a number of years, it's pretty incredible/unimaginable the things you can find in poorly kept beer lines. Parasitic Life forms being one of them (here's to hoping they're doing their due diligence in keeping all 50 lines sanitary) Food. We didn't do much on the menu since we were really looking for a snack and a few beverages. I adore that they have tots on the menu. They're nothing fancy, likely come frozen, but they're cooked super crispy, come in a generous portion, and at 3 bucks an order certainly not breaking the bank. We also sampled the Mexican Fritos - the menu doesn't lie when it reads "You just gotta try them" (worth trying once). I'll definitely come back to sample some other menu items. Service/Staff This is where the stars started to drop a little bit in this review. The staff was super nice, and no one was rude or anything like that. It was just confusing - to say the least. Maybe we showed up during shift change or something, but our server vanished (well - not really vanished, just stopped coming around and checking on us - despite being really attentive at first), then all of a sudden, a new face showed up and started helping us out. Not a huge deal, but some communication would have been nice. The next thing - and again, this shouldn't bug me as much as it did, but it did. We ordered a third round of the same brews we had been drinking, and one came to the table looking like a cup of milk had been dumped into it (Keg Blew/was about to blow). Since our server didn't mention anything about it, I inquired. She didn't know and went to ask the bartender (who from what I could tell, literally just came on shift), and he quickly dismissed it as "The kegs is almost empty and it's just sediment- it's not going to hurt them" (confirming my suspicion). And that was it - and that's what bugged me. Good service (to me) also includes the level of quality of the first beer, should be met with each additional beer (same goes for any menu item really). Serving the tail end of the keg like that should have been communicated in the first place and left up to the patron to decide if they wanted to chew their beer or drink it (in my days of tending bar, I would just give that sort of thing away at no cost and add it to my spill sheet - I'd never dream of charging a patron full price on an inferior pint of something they've already been drinking). By not communicating, and dismissing it as "Whatevs", tells me that the bartender thinks his patrons are stupid, and/or assumes people spending money in his bar know little if not nothing about how things work (which can be true in some cases). I don't like assumptions. Especially when I myself have worked in the industry, brew my own beer, and sample craft beer on the regular. Assume your patrons know more than you, until they open their mouth and remove all doubt. I'll definitely go back. Hopefully the subsequent future visits will prompt me to update this review with more stars and praise. On the flip side, between the location and the prices, I really hope this place doesn't turn into the next gutter punk hangout (The Silhouette), or the next over-priced and pretentious hipster punk hangout (Deep Elum).

Shiny and with an open concept, Lulu's still has that new restaurant smell and is a welcome addition to the Allston 'hood. The menu is vast with pub influenced bites, plates and sandwiches and a slight accent of gluttonous offerings to boot. Two burgers appear on the menu (three if you count a black bean one a burger; I don't), one very normal, one very much a knife and fork sounding job. Of course I had to have both the Lulu's Burger ($12) and the fittingly named Bad Ass Burger ($15). Burger number one is standard and straight-forward, with natural beef, Vermont cheddar, secret sauce, brioche bun and fries. It's pretty to look at, with a soft and polished bun holding it together. The beef, more rare than medium-rare, is seasoned flawlessly and charred just so. It has a wonderful depth of beefiness usually only seen in Boston's top tiered burgers, immediately making it a contender on the scene. Cheddar is nicely melted and pronounced. Although it adds creaminess, the secret sauce (mayo based of course) isn't even all that necessary, it really just takes away from the beefiness slightly. The bun works ok in this case; flaky like challah, it does behave as a proper stopgap for the juices. Burger number two is a controlled mess, and is actually not nearly as sloppy as it could have been. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but despite the promise of stout braised short ribs, a runny egg and being topped with a beer cheese soup, it is self-contained and it works. I was only slightly let-down that I wasn't resorted to a beefy, greasy food coma afterwards, but truth be told it was balanced and damn successful. I'm not so sure I could specifically pick out the flavors of ale in the short ribs, or pinpoint the exact flavors of the beer cheese soup, which tasted more like fondue, not that it's a complaint whatsoever. The same natural beef is used on this burger too, and is again little under cooked but with the same onslaught of juices, full on beef flavor, and perfect seasoning. Fries in both cases (one normal, one chili cheese) are under-cooked as well, with greasy and not quite crispy spuds presented, and are kind of a let down but are seasoned aggressively here too. The burgers at Lulu's have some of the better beef around (not quite on the Alden and Craigie level, however), certainly as memorable as most in the top twenty. Brioche is an adequate bun choice, if not the best and sauces and accompaniments (especially the perfectly cooked fried egg) are big hits. Overall the food is balanced when it almost has no right to be, and although there are some inconsistencies with the cooking of the meat and fries, they make a very tasty burger.

Awesome place, great food, cool vibe, and a great selection of food and beer. The servers, management, and bartenders are extremely friendly!! The bar is a fantastic place that can cater to large groups and tables for two. I really enjoyed the tater tots and the chicken sandwich. Most of the beer changes to feature unique specials and beers I've never seen anywhere else. Finally to finish off the great apps, food, beers, and cocktails, the desserts look and smell incredible!! Cant think of a more well rounded place to watch a game, hang out with friends, or try some new beer. Very fun atmosphere that is a unique gem to Allston! Will be back!

The brunch here is delicious. There wasn't a line when I got to the restaurant at 11, but just an hour later the line was at least 10 people long. Their coffee is brewed with cinnamon and absolutely delicious. The restaurant was clean and the food excellent.

Wandered in here on a late Sunday morning looking for brunch. There wasn't that many breakfast items but the list was definitely sufficient- with a twist! I got an egg white omelette with goat cheese and arugula very yummy! I also got a Bloody Mary which had the perfect amount of spice. The atmosphere is super chill with TVs that aren't totally overwhelming. A good place to meet friends after work I can imagine. Can't wait to come back to try the lunch and dinner menu and some of the fun drinks I saw.

So we decided to check out Lulu's on Saturday night thinking hey it's nearby in Allston and just took over the old Cafe Brazil space. We were up for something casual maybe a good beer and a burger. Lulu's certainly surpassed expectation. Sixteen months of work and a lot of money has transformed the space to a cool open space with nice woods and flat screens. This not however typical sports bar nor typically Allston (some call it funky some call it sketchy) fare or venue. The menu is fun and creative with comfort food like burgers or short rib Mac & cheese and far more creative (quac with pineapple). The most creative part is the beer cocktails not to mention a well thought out and inspired beer selection. The bartender/owner was very pleasant tolerating me trying four different beers before making my section. The rest of the service was good and the servers were very nice. Our bottom line is that Lulu's is worth checking out.

So I was in Lulu's for the first time a few weeks ago and having reactivated a yelp account thought I would share my horrible experience. So walking into a semi crowded bar, maybe 1/2 full, and met a group of friends that had been there a couple of hours and spent quite a bit of money- the bartender made newcomers wait a bit before acknowledging we were there and when she served my friends a round of beers, I went to ask for a drink menu and she was semi-rude with an "I'll be with you in a minute"-no big deal- but after ten minutes her return came and my lovely, polite, sweet, generous boyfriend ordered a "Jameson and Ginger" and she was SO incredibly rude with her "we don't serve Jameson here, only spirits" and actually turned and walked away. No drink menu given, no suggestions and we had never been there, maybe there was a sign somewhere (it was dark and we were with friends we hadn't seen in some time and weren't paying the most attention to our surroundings) maybe we should have just known they only serve spirits? Chick turned me off to this place. As a nice person I don't like to be places where people don't return the courtesy.

I have now been to Lulu's for brunch and dinner. It has a large beer selection to choose from and a tasty menu. I was a big fan of the hipster eggs benedict. I looked forward to trying many more things from there.

Good menu, great food. I had the turkey wrap and loved it. The only downside is that their cool, flashing/flashy "lulu's" light up sign got a little weird and distracting when the place got dark. We were sitting near it. But that's okay, I can live with weird lighting.

Deep Ellum and Lone Star, your competition has arrived! What a welcome addition to Allston. With its enormous windows, exposed air ducts, and minimalist light fixtures, the space manages to feel industrial and inviting at the same time. You need only glance at the massive array of tap pulls behind the bar to know that this place takes its beers seriously, boasting FIFTY different draught beers. (Not quite as many as Sunset, sure, but there's nary a questionably dingy carpet in sight here.) They have even gone so far as to elevate their brews into signature "Beertails" - something some beer aficionados may balk at, but this page on the drinks list is worth pausing over. Mine was refreshing and tasty - perfect for those times when you can't quite decide between a beer or a cocktail. The food is spot on: eclectic, creative, and flavorful without a touch of pretension. Elevated bar fare at its best. Even the $3 Bar Bites are effortlessly executed. The menu was varied without being overwhelming, and everything I tried was great. I'll certainly be back to try the Short Rib Mac n' Cheese and the Korean BBQ Pork Sandwich. And probably back again after that. And then after that.

I work in the area and this is my first time at lulus. Wow, this is a breath of fresh air. Thy have a wonderful beer selection which I happened to choose the allagash tripel. Seeing the selection of good beers (not bud light or pbr) makes me want to have more! I chose to have the asparagus flatbread with gorgonzola carmalized onions. Such a delight! I can pretend to be health though I know not so much. They have a few TVs to watch the games. The bartenders are really nice and super polite. The lovely blonde bartender was accommodating when I asked for no balsamic and the male bartender (wish I caught his name but I understand why you don't tell everyone) is really nice and actually talkative. He took the initiative to see what I got to eat, tell me what he likes, and explain his passion for the food and why he likes this place. I appreciate honesty, especially working in the industry. Bartenders like this make me want to be a regular. Cheers to lulus. I'm glad I chose to come in tonight for a bite and a couple beers. I look forward to coming here again.

Great beer selection and excellent food, including a number of vegan and vegetarian options. All really reasonably priced while giving generous portions (or, alternatively, "bites" that are just the right size and price). Add to that a nice atmosphere and some seating in front of big windows, making it perfect for the summer. An excellent addition to the neighborhood.

My roommate brought me out today after she wandered in one afternoon and wound up spending about 4 hours there. I totally see why she did. Amazing food, solid prices, cool atmosphere, and great service. The owners are awesome dudes who are always floating around, helping behind the bar and on the floor to make sure no one's standing looking helpless for too long. We had some starters and the donuts for dessert - everything was brought out super fast and it was all SO. GOOD. I'm still fantasizing about it. I'm hesitant to even leave a five star review for this place because I don't want it to get so crowded I can't go anymore! But seriously, the truffle tots. Every other bar in the area needs to ditch tots because they just won't compare to the ones here.

A great addition to this vegan-friendly stretch on Cambridge St. in Allston. Vegan & vegetarian options are clearly labeled on the menu. While there are only a couple vegan choices, I'll definitely be back for fresh and flavorful ramen bowl. Ambiance-wise, Lulu's is spacious but not sprawling. There's just enough intimacy, with many different spaces (bar, low-top and high-top tables and booths) throughout. Definitely worth a try, if just for a drink and sampling of their creative aps offerings. And hey guys, how about a few more vegan aps. ;)

We live in the area and are always delighted when new restaurants/bars come, since it gives us a reprieve from the white horse/TITS crowd. We really liked this place. The atmosphere was relaxing without being pretentious -- it has this almost industrial feel, the kind that's really trendy these days. I loved the floor to ceiling windows, perfect for window watching. The TVs were placed in kind of weird places though, so I'd never come here for a big game. Anyways, the beer selection was massive, and the food we ordered was a step above the average bar fare. The tots were a delightful surprise (and cheap!). My cobb salad was fresh and the dressing was lemony and delicious. The boyfriend's mac and cheese was creamy and tasted home made. The service, however, was anything but top notch. The waitresses were friendly but they neglected us a lot, so our meal ended up taking a half hour longer than planned and got us pretty annoyed at certain points. But overall we're excited about this new addition to the neighborhood and will keep coming back.

I'd like to start off by saying that the food here it was pretty good but the amount of time that it took for our server to not only take our order but to have it brought out and the amount of errors that were made made me seriously reconsider going there anytime in the near future. Also I ordered the king Beertail and the list of ingredients didn't include dove soap but that's exactly what it tasted like

I've been twice. Great ambiance, friendly service and interesting, tasty drinks. The food is not on par with the local gastropubs but it's not trying to be... this place has TVs and frito pie on the menu! A few menu items deserve note: 1: The deviled eggs were either loved or hated - I found them to be very salty but also delicious, 2: Ditto on the donuts - the dough was really thick and chewy, 3: The frito pie is exactly what you expect. LOVE. The only thing I'd say avoid is the pretzel bites - dry, not a lot of taste which I think was supposed to be remedied by the strongly flavored beer mustard but I didn't like it - tasted like vodka not beer to me But overall, this is a solid addition to the neighborhood.

Great addition to the Allston neighborhood. I have been twice now and have had good experiences. The menu is great with lots of interesting options that makes it hard to choose. My first visit I sat at the bar and ordered the Korean BBQ Pork Sandwich. 5 stars for that! The bartender was great also. The second time I was with a group of 7 seated at a table. There were a few mistakes with the order, missing beer, missing meal (fortunately the food always arrives quickly so it wasn't long before this was fixed). I ordered the bolognese. It was good, but I preferred the BBQ sandwich. I'll be back!

I'm glad to see this place open, but I think it could user a few small changes to really shine. I will say I love the quinoa salad but when I returned I think I tried the summer salad and it was drenched in a dressing that had a terrible soy saucy tang to it. I couldn't finish it. my boyfriend was underwhelmed by his BLT, or looked like he could have made it and was served on metal plates which made the sandwich get colder faster. personally if I'm going to pay 11$ for a sandwich I want it to at last be on quality bad and not just sliced white. The Mexican cheetos are also less tasty the menu make them seem. However, their donut holes are amazing!!!! It seems dessert is where they shine. I also tried the monkey bread, but I recommend the donut holes more. They're very hot and soft, slightly undercooked in the middle, but in that decadent delicious way. Oh, but there were five of them, making it hard to spilt, same with the pretzel bites. If there were six it would be easily spilt between two or three people. I really want to like this place, but I think it has to go through some growing pains first.

We had a reservation for 7, and were seated in a booth for 6. After I pointed out the error, we were reseated at a much larger table that could have sat 12. It was a nice, VIP area with a cool, red wood tabletop. We received three orders of the pretzels with cheese because they were in the bites section. They were alright. We also got two flatbreads to share. The asparagus one was rather bland, the other had meat, so I don't know, except to say there was one piece left I ordered the portobella sandwich with cheese soup. The sauce on the sandwich was good, but there was either too much bread or not enough mushroom, so I ate it like a flatbread. The soup was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, it was a pretty inexpensive night out with mediocre food. I realize this is a new establishment, so I hope they can step up the food menu and use bolder flavors in the future.

My girlfriends and I came here for the first time last night and I think we found a new go-to in Allston! Cocktails were really good, but the appetizers were what made it. The truffle tots and pretzel rolls (get the cheese sauce) were AMAZING. Everyone working there was very attentive and personable. I didn't have any entrees but will definitely be exploring other menu options next time I come (which will be very soon!)

Been here a handful of times now and it is bomb. They have a bunch of interesting options on the menu and everything I've tried is really good. The beer selection is a little pricey for Allston but it's extensive. Also, truffle tots. Neff said.

The food and drinks keep me coming back, but the service sure doesn't. Every time I come, especially for brunch, the service seems to be a confused mess. So many servers come to the table to check on us and try to take our order, we don't know who our real server is. That wouldn't be a problem if the servers communicated with each other, but they clearly don't. Last time I was at Lulu's I had to ask three different servers over the span of 25 minutes for my bloody mary, and something like this happens every single time. If the place were busy, I would understand, but it wasn't. Both my roommates who were with me ordered hot coffee, but when it arrived, it was cold. Not luke warm, cold. To top it all off, all three of our servers watched us struggle with an extremely wobbly table for a while and no one offered to help. The servers are nice people, no one is rude, but the quality of the service is bad.

Went on Friday night with friends for dinner. Drink: Great. Have a variety of draft beer. Didn't take a good look but cocktail and wine list seem good. Food: A little disappointing. We got the cheese fondue for appetizer, which I think the name was misleading because the real dish is crouton, carrot and celery sticks with grilled cheese spread like thing. For main I got the freto chili pie, which sounds interesting and exactly what it sounded like, freto on top of pie of chili. It tasted ok, guess I was expecting something better. For dessert we got the "Monkey Bread" which sounded special but literally just cinnamon bun. Overall, will probably come back for drink and maybe snackcs but probably not for a meal.

Wanted to give this new bar a try last Saturday night. Menu looks good - lots of veggie and vegan options (love to see that!) - but we were only there for a drink and an appetizer. We ordered the pretzel bites ($3) - came with ground mustard seed - yummy- and added on the cheese side (another dollar or so). The pretzels themselves were yummy, and the cheese was ok. Their selection of beers was good - lots of draft and options. Did not look like their village keg was running (beer special). The bartender was friendly and attentive, and allowed me to taste a beer before purchase - always a plus for me. After getting our first round we also added more pretzels and the Mexican Cheetos appetizer. Not sure what it was but it was stale and gross and came with a side of watery hot sauce. They could probably do without that on the menu - or a revamp of what it could be. Not a fan. The menu display was cool and the inside was clean and new with good lines and nice furniture with various options for seating. The music was good all night, lots of throwbacks, and the place seemed pretty full. My only turn off was we were sitting at the bar and at least twice servers and the bartenders were ripping shots of Jameson or something together right in plain sight. This has never been a problem I just find it sort of odd - I worked at a place where it was NOT acceptable. Maybe next time take it to the back room/kitchen? I don't like to think my waitstaff is hammered. Overall will come try it again and see what the food is like, and maybe get a cocktail next time and sit in the restaurant part. Welcome to Allston.

First time I went to Lulu's was for dinner with my boyfriend, he got a burger i think and said it was pretty good. For myself, well I'm a vegetarian and was a little disappointed with the menu considering there was only a handful of vegetarian options. I ordered a portabella mushroom sandwich, pretty basic, and honestly wasn't super impressed. Could have made it a home myself. We decided to give Lulu's another shot on May 5th, because we heard about their Cinco De Mayo Takeover menu and were extremely interested! Well, we were thoroughly disappointed again that night. The menu had only 2 vegetarian options which is absolutely crazy in my opinion because Mexican food is very simple to modify for vegetarians. For drinks, I asked for a Corona, the waitress said they were not serving single bottle of corona, just a special that consisted of 5 bottles in a bucket for $25. No way were my boyfriend and I going to have 5 beers at dinner..I was very confused, so I declined a drink all together. Then for food, I wanted to order the enchiladas verdes but it came with pork, I asked the waitress if I could have them just without the pork, basically a glorified cheese enchilada with rice and beans on the side. She wasn't sure, asked the chef, came back and said no sorry, no modifications...this concerned me because if that was the case then were all of your enchiladas pre rolled for the night with pork and cheese??? It was a very simple request that could not be honored. SO she suggested I get a grilled veggie burrito. I declined and decided to try the crab tamales (which were originally listed as lobster tamales online but Im assuming they could not get their hands on the lobster and switched it crab that day?) They were terrible!!!!! Barely any crab, just the starchy corn masa dough that is the base of all tamales with a little bit of sour cream on top. I took two bites and had to send it back. My boyfriend ordered a chicken burrito and only got through half of it before he admitted it didn't taste like much of anything and he couldn't finish his. The waitress came back and conveyed an apology from the chef who offered to make me a black bean burger, I politely declined because at this point I was completely over the food and did not wish to try another item and be disappointed yet again. I think Lulu's has a great atmosphere, look cool from the outside, and the service is ok at best, but would never recommend it to anyone, especially vegetarians.

The good: -Parking was easy to find and the decor and ambiance is cute with an edge. - Plenty of seating, ranging from quaint corner tables to private booths for larger parties. When you walk in the bartender or host will tell you to choose your own seats. -I am not a beer drinker but my date was and he was impressed with the wide variety of choices. From the extensive draft list to the well organized bottle/can menu. -The dinner menu has many dishes that are their own take on a well known classic/comfort food/ whatever you may be craving. From deep fried tater tots to mac and cheese and loads of vegetarian options! The bad: -I came in on a Tuesday night at 10:00 pm with no reservation, there were only 4 other patrons in the building so I got to sit down right away. They close at 1am but my server was already closing up shop. In fact, he was so busy trying to close that he didn't even acknowledge that I was there for 15 minutes. When he finally came over to take my drink order he was in such a rush when I tried to introduce myself and catch his name he just walked away. After 20 minutes my date finally made it and the first thing he says is "Why don't you have any water yet?" -We ordered the short rib mac and cheese as an appetizer. It came out REALLY fast. Almost too fast. My food shouldn't reach my table before I even got my drink that I had ordered already. The short rib was tender, and easy to pull apart with a definite barbecue flavor. The mac and cheese was more cheese (think velveeta and cheese powder) than anything. We were so disappointed we decided not to even order anything else. The downright ugly: -Like I said, I'm not a beer drinker and they only have a cordials license so I didn't have many options to choose from. They do have a "Beer-tails" list but none of them tickled my fancy. I asked my server if he had any recommendations and he said he had absolutely no idea. I told him I was interested in the blackberry cider and asked if it was any good. His response, "I don't know, probably." In case you were wondering, it wasn't good. It tasted more like a flat smirnoff ice than a cider. -Because our server was sooooooo busy trying to get out of there. He wouldn't let us leave either! He was gone for a good half an hour so we couldn't get our check at all. All in all, I wouldn't come back because of the lack of effort shown.

The drinks were good and the two appetizers were fine. The service was absolutely terrible. We sat at the bar. It wasn't busy. It took at least 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. We almost left but she finally came over. She wasn't friendly and acted as if she did not want to serve us at all. Maybe she was having a bad day but she did seem to be attentive to other patrons that she knew. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but it was awful service. it was a shame because we went there after reading a good review in the Globe and it was also my husband's birthday. Not a very nice experience.

Booth in the corner waitress came back with everyone's food orders except one. It was at THIS TIME that she chose to inform one person in our party that they couldn't make a BLT. Yes, a BLT. I have personally never worked in the food industry, but I just kind of find it difficult to believe that in the entire restaurant, they ran out of portions of the simplest ingredients in any establishment. It's simple chef/incompetent waitress. Here goes: bread(preferably toasted), little bit of mayo, little bit of lettuce, little bit of tomato and, IF YOU CAN PLEASE SPARE, can we please have a couple slices of bacon? Kind of weird you couldn't make this considering the other 6 patrons around the table could have made our friend her sandwich by dissecting our own. And perfect timing on the delivery of the verdict. Might want to tell her that the chef couldn't put together this mind boggling plate before you deliver everyone else's, and giving her a measly bowl of potatoes when she ordered the tots. 0 stars on the service. That being said, the turkey wrap was spot on.

Recommended by a friend, this place is awesome. The burger selection was so cool, so many different combinations of toppings and add ons, it wasn't hard to find something to like. The beer list was also awesome as well. Their tap system was super cool looking supplying a good range of beers for all people!

I want to give this place more stars! But its just not quite there yet in terms of the food and the presentation. I guess I went for brunch, but still... My bf was really psyched to get Bloody Mary's and the s'mores pancakes (weird combination, IMO lol). I was going to go for a BM too, but the waiteress said they had a special spiked iced coffee that included Kahlua and ... glazed donut vodka!! I'm not usually a sugar-y coffee drinker, but this was brunch so I figured, why not? It was really good! Strong enough to taste the liquor, but not gross, and not overly sweet. I ended up trying the white trash hash, but it wasn't really up my alley. I thought it would be seasoned a little more but it just tasted a little greasy. I wish their menu had more options featuring vegetables BESIDES salad. Greens and local veggies are so trendy in restaurants right now (at least in NYC) and so I was expecting to see something semi-nutritious besides salad on the menu. The truffle tots were incredibly salty/greasy. I love the interior and open windows, and I love that new spaces and concepts are opening up in parts of Allston that aren't BU-centric (despite being an alum), so I hope this place figures out some of the kinks.

Went in for lunch, I really like the ambiance. Very fun and clean. The staff were all friendly, responsive, and helpful. Location is not the best. It's a little hard to find parking spot. It's a bit weird to have the big bouncer asking for ID on the front door though. Why can't they ask on the table? It felt out of place for some reason. I don't think Lulu's targeted market is drunk college kids, so they should make it friendlier for young professionals and families. On to food and drinks, these are what we had: - Mexican Cheetos: smells a bit weird, tasted interesting. Wasn't bad but wasn't great. Comes with salsa tapatio. - Truffle tots: tasty. The garlic mayo is a good pair. - Thai quinoa black bean burger: very good, the red curry and coconut milk is a good touch. Husband loooooves it. - Mama's fried chicken: I really wished I loved it but I didn't. The chicken was crispy but wasn't crunchy. The skin was tough to bite, maybe it was overcooked? Too much flour? Wasn't sure. I couldn't finish it. The Arugula salad and mashed potatoes were delicious! - Chef's donuts: consistency were like fried dough, but I love it. Comes with chocolate and caramel sauce. - Beer and cranberry mojito: good. I'll go back here again for the donuts and try their other food.

Honestly, I don't understand the positive reviews ... I found the food underwhelming, not nearly as good as expected... my dish was too salty and seemed like a frozen meal that was heated up in the oven. The service was also pretty slow across the board. The hostess took her time welcoming us, bartenders pretended not to notice us arrive to the bar, and then the waitress basically forgot about us after taking our order. I don't recommend dining here and won't be back myself.

Disclaimer: I tried to be a little too adventurous with my food and thus discovered how many things I didn't like. I won't press this matter on Lulu's entirely, I am going to go back and I'm determined to love this place. We got a free little bucket off the truffle tater tots! The garlic aioli is an interesting pair. I tried the beer cheese soup. I've drank IPA many times, I mean, IPA is my friend, we hang out frequently on the weekends. But I personally didn't find that it translated well into a soup with the smoked gouda. The creamy texture was definitely "comfort-food" level but both components have such strong flavors it was kind of overwhelming. I tried the Thai quinoa burger. Now I've had a quinoa burger before, first time was at Burger-Fi by Boston University and it was crissssppy. This one was kind of lumpy and soft. Maybe it wasn't cooked entirely? The sauce was unique, I did like it, but coconut just ain't my thing. They've put a lot of effort into creating a special space and the staff is friendly, well-rehearsed, and will try to make this the best experience you could possibly have. The food just didn't do it for me this time, though the person I was with was like, having an intimate affair with his BLAT (BLT with avocado). I'm definitely going to go back and explore the menu some more. You can't possibly put this much effort into creating such a creative twist on household favorites. Strong potential to be a great restaurant. P.S. Best beer selection in the area. Fo reals.

Came here for a Saturday brunch and holy hell. I enjoy that their menu is a bit crazy. Pancakes with bloody mary butter, french toast covered in rice krispies, and white trash hash. I personally had the white trash hash which basically looked like all the pieces of hash torn apart. It was awesome and some of the best hash I've ever had. My fiance had the french toast encrusted with rice krispies with blueberry compote which was also amazing. Forgot to mention that we started the meal off with some doughnut holes with a chocolate dipping sauce. If you like food that is a little out of ordinary and like to do things a bit crazy, this is the place to go.

I absolutely love this place. My girlfriend and I went on a Friday evening and sat at the bar. We had two extremely friendly male bartenders caring for us. We had about 5 drinks each - we walked there - and each was delicious and made to perfection. We also had apps and dinner which were both fantastic (pretzels for app, and 2 chicken salads for dinner) we were raving about how good the desserts (especially the donuts) sounded and the bartender must have overheard us. 15 minutes later he had brought us out a complementary order and they were one of the best things I have ever eaten. Needless to say my roommate and I tipped big and will undoubtedly be back again very soon!!!

I think that, overall, this place is great. We had the disadvantage that we came on a Sunday - apparently, once they hit the end of the week, they run out of lots of things on tap. BUT their list was outstanding, and what I had was pretty great. Food wise - I didn't have any, but those in our large group were pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. I think we may have been a little too big of a group for them to accommodate easily. But overall - pretty damn good.

I have been meaning to try Lulus's since hearing that it opened. Went there with a group of friends and while I am not reviewing all of the dishes I am reviewing two. The place was packed! Partially because the FIFA game between the USA and Portugal was playing and also I assume because it was a gorgeous summer Sunday. The service was good (still a little "we are new" vibe) but the waitress did her best and was very friendly. I ordered the Korean BBQ Pork Sandwich and my wife got the Cobb Salad. The sandwich had good flavor with just the right amount of mayo and kimchi. The only flaw was the bread. They serve it on a hearty toasted ciabatta. It's clearly quality bread but it was too chewy and rough. I would have preferred it to have been a lighter kind such as an olive oil rosemary or an onion celery seed ciabatta. The asian slaw that comes with it is amazing! Seriously it stood out as the best thing I tried! Would I get it again? Probably. Would I travel to get it? No. The salad was good. But didn't impress. Although the grilled chicken was great. It had a good flavor and was still juicy. The beer selection is pretty good but in an area that is so strong with good bars I think the biggest pull for this place will be their ability to procure good unique selections. So far though I give them kudos on the selections. The table shared the Truffle Tots as an appetizer which we all felt were too salty and couldn't taste the Truffle oil. For dessert we shared the donuts which definitely missed the mark. They were too doughy and just not fluffy at all. So overall it felt very mediocre. I will definitely come back again! And I hope they impress me the second time around. Lulu's has potential and a solid menu but hope they tweak a few things as these reviews start to flow in.

My new favorite place for Sunday brunch! Excellent drinks (I had the cranberry mojito with fresh muddled mint and lime and made with cranberry rum). Tater tots were perfection. The protein packed omelette was perfect on my very empty stomach after being up all night. Sox on one TV, football on the other. 60s/70s/80s oldies created a great mood. Everyone's attitude was chill even though it was extremely busy. The donut holes dessert was amazing but I could not eat it all (brought the rest home). They serve until 3pm and it is always packed but WORTH THE WAIT.

Great variety of food and craft beer. They can accommodate large parties. We had 14 on a Friday night for a birthday dinner. Recommend: siracha tater tots, pretzel bites, Mexican 'cheetos' (I think they had to change the name because cheetos is a Pepsi trademark name), black bean burger and bag ass burger. Great choices in Belgium beers including triples and the occasional quadruple. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Service had always been great. Love this place!

Had the worst food poisoning I've ever had from the grilled cheese there.. Save yourself the money and the stomach ache and go somewhere else..

Came here last night with 8 girlfriends and we all agreed everything was super yummy. Definitely a hip young place. I probably wouldn't bring my parents here for dinner on a weekend night the music was a bit loud- luckily we were sat in the nook of the restaurant at a long booth/table. If you have a party between 7-11 people I would request that! For food we really loved the tater tots- so good!! Only $3 for a bucket. The pretzels with warm cheese were also delicious. I enjoyed my veggie burger with fries and everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. The fried chicken sandwich and beets salad are also super tasty. For dessert definitely get the donut holes- you may want to order yourself two because they are that good! Check this place out for a date, girls night out, or even a quick lunch!

This is my favorite brunch in the Boston area. I make the trek out of the city just for Lulu's brunch on the weekends. The bloody mary pitcher is a great value, but all of the drinks have been super tasty. Everything on the menu has been delicious, though when I come here I can't not order the short rib mac and cheese and the donut holes. Both are so good I never leave any leftovers. The donuts flavor changes week to week, which is awesome because on every visit you can try a new kind! A definite must try in Allston. Try and get here before noon, it gets super crowded after that!

Perfectly average pub grub. Service is alright, nothing special. The food is tasty but unmemorable. The location is alright but not super convenient, as parking can be tricky. Ambiance is classic Allston hipster bar. That's pretty much it.

The BLT was perfect. I always say don't ruin a good thing and they did a good job here. Great choice of bread and super crispy bacon with a fresh sliced tomato. I read another's negative comment on the cheese soup and I completely disagree. I thought it was so delicious I have even returned just for the soup! Really great and creamy with a non overbearing cheese and beer taste.

Came here with the bf on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated right away. The atmosphere was like a fancier bar scene. People were grabbing a drink and watching the game but the place was very nicely decorated. Unfortunately they were out of the slow-roasted turkey wrap when we were here. Truffle tots: For only $3 these puppies are worth every penny. The garlic mayo this comes with is absolutely delicious and I think the truffle flavor is in the sauce since I didn't taste any truffle in the actual tots. The tots are super crunchy and delish as well! Quinoa burger: Yum! I loved the flavor that the actual quinoa patty had. It was also nice and crispy on the outside. I made the mistake of cutting it in half...therefore squishing the entire burger lol. My only complaint would be the bun, it was a bit stiff and didn't go well with the texture of the burger. Lulu burger: Standard burger, nothing too special. All in all, not a bad place to be if you want to go watch the game or to be around cute decor. I would probably come back to try more of the menu.

Phenomenal food, excellent service, I definitely recommend to anyone in the Allston area. Not only is the food delicious, the atmosphere is great for groups or dates. Five stars all the way

I've been a regular here since opening night because they're the only spot in Allston Village that strikes just the right balance between good food, great beer selection, room to sit, and good prices. 50 beers on tap at all times -- leans heavily in favor of IPAs, but plenty for everyone, including local brewers. Also some beertails, cocktails, and bottles. Food is also good! The black bean burger with tots is my go-to but I've also tried the snacks and salads and short rib mac and cheese, which were all delicious. Staff has been mostly very friendly and accommodating both at tables and the bar, and the chef introduced herself once and was also friendly and open to feedback about the meals! But the service is what makes it four stars -- there have been a few bad experiences, including a very inattentive server and one bartender who seemingly reluctantly answered a vegan friend's questions and provided bad information. But overall good place to bring a date, watch the game, bring your parents, and/or bring a group of friends.

So I decided to try this place for the first time yesterday. I was meeting my date for a drink there. The atmosphere is pretty chill and the bar wasn't too crazy busy. It was a rainy day after all. Our waitress (Bree) was awesome and she did a great job taking care of us. We ordered 4-5 drinks the whole night along with Cajun tots (which were great) and the grilled chicken on skews which were very cold and tasted dull when they arrived. It's generally a nice place for drinks and get together. I am taking one star away due to the following reasons: the bar definitely needs to carry regular unflavored vodka, the food needs to come out warm and at the same time( our tots arrived within minutes and the chicken skews arrived 20m later) and lastly, I would strongly recommend the waitress asking before taking away any food that's left on the table. I know that the tots were in a cup and perhaps weren't visible but I was still working on them and unfortunately our waitress took them away without asking. I would generally say something but considering I was on a date, I chose not to.

I came here with two friends and this was the worst meal we had had in a long time. What we ordered to share: stuffed cherry peppers and cajun tots. My bf and friend ordered Lulu's burgers while I ordered the chicken fried sandwich. The tots were salty and the stuffed peppers tasted odd, because the combination of the cheese and prosciutto did not go well with the pepper. My chicken fried sandwich was dry and had no flavor. Finally, both my boyfriend and my friend stopped eating their burgers half way through because they said the meat tasted like it had gone bad. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and left with stomachaches that lasted til the next day.

Great place for brunch. Really creative cocktails and a delicious selection of brunch items. The ambiance is very casual -- popular with students and people in their 20s. I got the farmhouse omelette with tomatoes, spinach, caramelized onions, and goat cheese. The vegetables were very fresh and so tasty! Comes with potato hash and Texas toast. The hash was interesting -- also came with onions and seasoned with some herbs. It tasted very similar to the flavoring in my omelette but for other dishes it's a very savory side. Great place to go with a group of friends!

I've been here a handful of times now and have always had a great time. Their menu has a bunch of fun options, and I can't wait to try more. Last time I went, I got the BLT with tator tots - and it was definitely one of the best BLTs I've had in awhile. There are a vast amount of beers on draft which ensures that there is something for everyone. The layout of this place is awesome, and I love the decor as well as the music selection. The staff has always been extremely friendly & attentive. I was reading some of the other reviews on here regarding brunch, so I will definitely be checking that out some time as well! Also, despite being in downtown Allston, I've never had issues finding a parking spot- so that definitely scores some brownie points with me!

This place has become one of my favorite brunch spots. Affordable prices and good quality food and drinks. I've never waited more than a few minutes for a table. The customer service is usually great. Love the white trash hash! Dinner here is also good-Getting the donut holes afterwards are a must. Nice local spot!

This place was pretty fantastic. Good and interesting food options definitely sets this place apart. Personally, I was rather pleased that they have fifty beers on tap and fifty bottled beers. Nitros, a bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin ale, and some kind of ginger draft (which reminded me a bit of a ginger beer) were notable. To eat I had the wings and the jerk sausage corn dogs. The bartenders are nice and friendly, there are multiple TVs, and the vibe is nice. I am definitely a fan of this place and I intend to go back, not only for their beers but also for a number of food items that I pegged in my mind as "try-next-time" items. If you are a fan of good bars like I am, you need to take a trip to Lulu's in Allston. Dooooo iiiiitttt.

Been here twice. So far so good. I love that the kitchen is open LATE !!! I thought this place would just be about looking cool but it actually hAs really good food and drink. I'll keep checking it out! Great salad.

Eh... I really want to love this place thats why we keep going back. The food is VERY under seasoned and not what I would expect with a Chef in the house. This time we ordered the Beef Short Rib Mac & Cheese which was ok. But just slightly bland. I decided on the special, Shrimp Tacos and it just seemed so basic. It was shrimp and lettuce and a little crème fraîche. SO BORING. It could have used a hot pepper, tomato or something to bring it up to a good level. Otherwise I still love the atmosphere and the staff is always nice.

White Trash Hash! This white trash is ginormous! It's the best tatter tots I've had in a long time. The hollandaise sauce drizzled on top was perfect. I'm usually not a fan of this sauce, but I very much enjoyed it here. It was not overpowering. Everything about this dish was heavenly. If you are coming here for brunch, come by before it opens if you don't like to wait. We came about 5 mins before and there was a short line waiting for it to open. By the time we got our food and started eating, there was a line for people to leave. The service was ok. They were slammed so I wasn't expecting personalized service. I would definitely come back to try their dinner menu.

Came here on a Sunday night with the bf to try out this new joint and catch a football game. It was certainly a surprise. Food and service was great all around. As far as drinks go we only had the beers. They have an amazing 50 taps available and 1 on cask. Although we did not have any mixed drink cocktails I'm sure they were good as everyone else at the bar was ordering them nonstop. I had the pork shank plate. DELICIOUS fall off the bone meat with amazing flavors. And I love when I say oh its only mash potatoes - but these mash potatoes were seriously good with perfect texture and taste. The bf ordered some sort of burger with an egg on top and it came with chili fries. He wasn't even hungry but holly crap did he devour that burger. I tried his chili fries and damn was that a surprise too! It was friggin good. We were both seriously full but decided to go all out and add dessert to really make a final decision if this was going to be one of our new hot spots. We ordered the creme brulee. Really? Seriously? Finished our night out on a perfect note. It wasn't the usual fruit topped creme brulee. Instead it was topped with nuts. Soo friggin good I left there feeling like a pig .... but a happy and super satisfied pig! Worth every penny of the bill! Speaking of which - the bar is new and has a very nice speakeasy feel. The bar tenders were very attentive to us as well always checking in to see if we needed refills on beer. As far as the price goes...it's very reasonably priced. I've been to many other places that had over priced food and it wasn't nearly half as good as lulus.

Been wanting to try Lulu's after out after seeing the menu online and really enjoyed the first visit. The bartenders know their stuff. Attentive, know their products and are quick to offer tasting to the many seasonal and rotating beers on tap. They have a great selection of beers including hard to find seasonal beers. I strongly recommend the appetizers whether they are the bites or sharing size. They offer some really different items such as home made cheetos with a great salsa dipping sauce and tater tots that go great with drinks. The mac and cheese with short ribs is a cant miss option and believe it or not, the frito pie was a nice back wood offering, covered in wild boar chili, local cheese and sour cream. . The atmosphere is very comfortable with a good amount of big screen TV's and service that is friendly, prompt and knowledgeable.

I love this place! It is such a great addition to Allston and I have been eagerly awaiting it's opening for over a year!! I came the opening night and was very impressed! The service was solid and the good was delicious. And for what you get the prices are very reasonable!! I returned two nights later and have come back several times since. Although the staff seems to still be training and getting settled they are very friendly and the food always comes out quickly. I love the truffle tots and the Mexican Cheetos. The Mac and Cheese and burger were also impressive. Actually everything I have tried so far has been good!! I will be coming for brunch ASAP because the menu looks awesome! Check it out you won't be disappointed!!

It's nice to have another beer bar in the neighborhood, but after visiting 3-4 times I'd say LuLu's is solid but nothing special. The beer selection is good, and they always have a vegan option or two on the menu.

Security was not friendly. But the first person who actually greeted us was really sweet and genuine about welcoming us. It was hot so we sat at the high tops near the open windows. Pretty awesome for Allston people watching. The table should have been wiped down before we sat down, but it was just watermarks from pint glasses. The silverware we were set up with had fingerprints and watermarks. The napkin folds were noticeable but not in a good way. So I used my napkin to polish my own silverware. They were steady but not super busy. The decor was generic dive bar with a bunch of taps. The atmosphere was geared towards the college kids and young professionals who aren't too picky. Too bad I came in then. I grabbed a Uinta IPA, which was pretty great after a long day at work on a Sunday. My partner got a cider of some sort. It was pretty funny because the same woman who greeted us brought the beers and she assumed that I, as a woman, got the cider. We had a laugh at that. In restaurants, this is why seat numbers are important, so you're not auctioning off food and drink. Our server was clearly new as the entire establishment was, but he didn't seem to be enjoying himself. We were all on the same page then. We attempted to order the Revival Mussels, but they were out of that as well as the Mexican Cheetos, Truffled Tots, and all short ribs. On the spot, we ordered the Three Cheese Fondue, I got the Vegan/Gluten-free Ramen bowl and my partner got the Thai Quinoa Black Bean burger. Meanwhile, outside we watched a man and an SUV driver get into an altercation. This man in his pink polo shirt and khaki shorts tried to drunkingly jaywalk. The driver freaked out and they got into a "**** you" tiff. I believe the jaywalker won because he said, "**** you, this is Boston." Indeed it is. The food came out extremely quickly, in a bad way. The first food runner was really sweet and complimented me on my hair. The fondue or basically a broth with cheese notes came with kid size celery and carrot sticks and about 8 pieces of crostinis, not baguettes. I took about two bites, and then bam our entrees hit the table, then that person ran away without evening thinking that we just got out appetizer. I sent back the fondue aka soup and some sides because I dipped the celery in the "fondue" and then it immediately slid right off. Our server had it taken off, and because our entrees came out so fast, I had to ask for a spoon for my ramen. The ramen had a decent umami and earthy notes because of the mushrooms and greens. The rice noodles were good, but of cheap quality. Either the bowl was too large or the portion was too small. Either way, not worth the $11 spent on this. So college kids, stick to buying the packs of Ramen and making it yourself. I had a bite of my partner's "burger," which had no Asiatic notes and frankly it was bland and seemed to be begging for some type of sauce on it. The fries were fries. Because my partner finished his meal first, they immediately cleared his plate, and while I was eating, the same busser tried to take my plate, mid bite. A few minutes later, the server asked if we wanted another round of beer and wanted dessert, while I was still eating. I was fed up especially since I could see the manager eyeing our table and the security guard casually eaves dropping on us. I asked for the check and grudgingly rushed to finish my beer because I was still hungry and pissed off because i just spent my hard earned money on junk, with the exception of the beer. I pulled the server aside, asked him out long he had been a server, which was only six months. I gave him a critique how he took care of us, which he took like a champ. He asked me if I owned a restaurant, which I don't, but I have opened several restaurants and have been a server for 10 years, be it fine dining. Then towards the end he finally offered to have the manager come by, and I declined, because the manager had 33 minutes to come talk to us and at the end would be pointless. I was trying to help this server out, but I'm sure he will see that place will have a high turnover rate. Especially when I was the one to tell the security guy to "have a good night" to which his response was none. Thankfully, Lone Star, Deep Ellum, Sunset Bar and Grill, and Patron's are all within walking distance. But if you were wondering if I was still upset, my night got much better after really getting quality eats and drinks. Good luck Lulu's, you need all you can get.

After several meals, here are my thoughts. Great beer list. I am hard to please and they always have something that you don't get elsewhere. Menus look great. Execution, not so good. For the record, the chef was not there on any of the occasions that we ordered food.. smoked wings were lightly smoked but not cooked through. Pork shank barely cooked although the au jus was good. Also no seasoning. Short rib Mac and cheese completely dry. All fixable but also all was consistent on each occasion. TASTE THE FOOD!! its as if someone read how to make it but not "here's how it should taste". I hope they tighten things up. Love the potential!

Lulu's tries to deliver a twist on traditional American comfort food, but fails to master the basics. The result? An extremely bland dining experience that feels cobbled together by drunk BU freshmen from ingredients bought at a late-night shopping spree at the local Tedeschi. I had the Mexican Cheetos (which was the highlight of the meal), pretzel rolls, wild game frito pie, and tater tots. It's a real shame because the ideas on paper seem exciting and fulfill a unique need in the Allston area. On the other hand, the bar is awesome. The bartenders are friendly, and are happy to offer suggestions on beer and drinks. Because of that, Lulu's is great for pre-dinner drinks (and light snacks). But nothing more until the entrees get a dramatic overhaul.
