The chicken plate is a great choice for lunch. It comes with heaping portions of rice and salad. Usually I have enough to bring home for work the next day. My fellow reviewers should stop complaining about a sign in the window and focus more on the delicious food. The prices are a little expensive-- but then again you're in the financial district and you're not eating cheap fast food.

Joshua's is one of my favorite lunch spots! My go-to dish is the chicken plate: a jam-packed skewer of grilled chicken chunks and red onion over a big serving of tossed salad and a heaping scoop of rice (I always get the Italian dressing). This lunch usually carries over to a second day because the portion is so large. The food is fresh, the service is fast and you won't go hungry with anything they serve. The price is right too! When I'm not in the mood for rice, I'll order a chicken pita stuffer which is the salad, the chicken and a fresh pita. I've also ordered sandwiches from Joshua's before which are also fresh and delicious - but huge.

In the War on Average Taste, this place is a high ranked lieutenant of the opposition. If you're a friend of mine, and you say you like Joshua's Deli, that's the first strike on the path towards total dissociation. If you say you LOVE Joshua's Deli, well then I bid you adieu, Felicia. However, Joshua's does serve as a great binary metric as to whether or not to trust the food opinions of your friends, coworkers, and family. If you're a fan of dry chicken, tasteless plates featuring poorly made salads, and bad things, you'll have the time of your life in this "establishment" (I use that term loosely and with a high degree of sarcasm). Man, I hate this place.

I work across the street and it takes me longer to get there than it does for me to walkout with my order!! I got the chicken kebab plate. Its a tad dry but goes well with the dressing. olid portion and taste.

What's not to fucking like? Meat = excellent Price = right Salad = standard, and refreshing. I've been three times and each time is consistently delicious. The best of the kebab places around here. Line has never taken me more than five minutes. Use ya blinkah and head over to this fine Boston establishment.

Joshua's had been a pretty regular lunch spot for me since I started working in the Financial District. I would deal with the owner's passive aggressive and for a lack of a better word, douchey, signs that covered his restaurant about how he can't read minds and that his customers should use the Hilton's bathroom down the street because it was a convenient place to grab a quick meal; however, I decided to stop going to Joshua's after I saw the signs he posted about increasing prices across the board by $1.00 due to a $1.00 minimum wage increase. Assuming he has five employees working 40 hour weeks, this is a $200 weekly increase in expenses. I find it hard to believe that Joshua's does not produce 200 plates in one lunch hour, let alone an entire week. Nonetheless, a co-worker convinced me to go back to Joshua's recently. I purchased the steak kabob plate and was disgusted to see and a steak piece that was entirely fat (refer to photo). Needless to say, I will not make the mistake of bringing my business back to Joshua's again.

Great place with great workers and excellent food. Where could you go to lunch in Boston and get fast food lunch in and out in less than 4 minutes. The chicken kabobs are the best meat always cooked to perfection and nice and tender never dry with the rite anoint of seasonings. I highly recommend this place to anyone who works I'm the area or just walking by it will be worth your trip

They are always serving great specials! This is a great place. The food is so fresh and so yummy. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't have a lot of time for lunch! Such a gem of a place!

This place has excellent lunch options that are relatively healthy. I enjoy the combo plate, which includes salad, rice and three types of meat. My orders are usually processed fast within 60 seconds and the food has been consistently delicious. This location has a specialty chicken sausage which is yellow and very tasty. Occasionally, I have had a some pieces of steak that were tough and fatty, but that is never a huge deal. For the plate and a 20 oz soda, I'm usually looking at $12.00 or so, which isn't bad considering the servicing size. This seems like a grab a go place rather than a sit down lunch.

I went here for lunch today after seeing a line out the door on Tuesday. I walked in around 12:30 and was immediately served (since I was mysteriously the only customer eating lunch at 12:30.) I decided on the steak tip and cheese sub because it seemed like a change of pace compared to most sub shops in the area. For $8.50 I got a sub that was about 7 inches and had 5-6 small steak tips (3 juicy and tender, 2 hard and dray) as well as 2 slices of american cheese hastily thrown onto a half stale sub roll. I expected a lot more since it's price was more than I'm used to ($6 huge, fresh, and delicious subs at Al's only 2 blocks away). The service was fast and friendly and I noticed most people getting salads, but due to all the places in the area, I doubt I'll be back any time soon.

Food is halfway decent, but the owner put up a really ridiculous sign by the registers notifying customers of upcoming price increases. It's nothing but a long whiny rant about the minimum wage being increased. But the math doesn't even add up. Prices are going up by about a dollar, same as the coming minimum wage increase. Is it really believeable that Joshua's Deli only sells a couple of sandwiches an hour? So the food is going to cost more, but at least the bullshit sandwiches are free. There are plenty of other delis and sandwich shops in the same area that don't appear to have the same lack of respect for their workers. I'll be eating elsewhere.

The owner is really upset that people on Beacon Hill raised the minimum wage from 8-9 dollars. He thinks he needs to let us all know his unhappiness by showing us where we all will pay for this in his menu. No need, I'll spend my money where people who own and operate a business won't begrudge their workers a living wage without whining like a baby. boston.eater.com/2014/11…

In the last year and a half that I have worked across the street from Joshua's, I have eaten here many times and the food is excellent. However, I was very disappointed to walk in yesterday and find the most ridiculous sign I have ever seen. Since minimum wage will be increasing in the new year, the owner sees the need to increase his prices. This is not my issue, Joshua's has very loyal customers that would keep returning even with a slight increase in price (although some of these increases are as much as 15-20% for a $1/hour increase in minimum wage). The issue I take here is the owner's BLATANT disrespect for our law makers and his employees, who work harder than at any other lunch location I've seen in the financial district (and always with a smile on their faces!). I understand that an increase in minimum wage might be tough for some business owners, however, there are far better ways to present some price increases without putting down your workers and law-makers; who are just trying to give your employees a fairer wage for their hard work, which has undoubtedly made Joshua's so popular, as the employees there are always friendly and extremely efficient even in the craziest lunch rushes. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning to Joshua's again, which is a true shame.

Great deli-style food and the chicken kabob is a lot of food for the money. The line moves very quickly and the staff is great. It's a shame that thanks to our lawmakers prices have to go up but I'll keep coming back to Joshua's anyways and support this small local business.

Love the greek salad w chicken kebab, so tasty! I used to work near Fargo Deli Of Course (same as Susan's) so was psyched to find they serve the same chicken kebabs here. The chicken is so delicious and it is my favorite lunch to get when I am eating out.

Superb lunch spot, fast & friendly service, great kebab salads, other specialty sandwiches. I go at least once a week & highly recommend this place.

Greek salad with chicken kebab!!! My first time here-I took my lunch to go. I was literally in and out I don't think it took longer than 1minute 30 seconds for them to prepare my lunch. It was $8!!! The portion was big and it came with pita bread. I think they charged me .50cents for it so the good itself was only $7.50. If you ran out of places for lunch you should definitely try it. It's right off of High St! Very good food - I am definitely going back :-)

This place used to be Susan's Deli Of Course. It has been taken over by new management. The food appears to be about the same. They are known for their grilled chicken with rice and salad. Their prices are good for the financial district, and you get a lot of food. I like the chicken cordon bleu.
