At Hidyan Cafe I usually get the falafel wrap or the Middle Eastern plate. The wrap is huge, full of fresh veggies, and the falafel is very tasty with the accompanying hummus. The Middle Eastern plate comes with these deliciously seasoned meat patty-like things, salad, and choice of rice or fries. Rice was my go-to choice but I've recently discovered that their fries are good too! I'm fairly certain that the fries are frozen but I swear they were yummy! On to the froyo.....now I am not allowed to consume a lot of dairy BUT I make the exception once in a while for frozen yogurt! Hidyan's frozen yogurt is comprised of this icy vanilla yogurt base with whatever toppings BLENDED in. I am so used to the toppings being on top...but let me tell you....BLENDED TOPPINGS ARE THE FUTURE!! Okay so the idea is nothing new, but I rarely see froyo places do this! Its even better than Coldstone's technique because you aren't handed a melty mess after the mixing process. I also like that the consistency of this dessert is perfectly creamy without being too heavy on the milk. There are so many mix-ins! Hidyan keeps them frozen so don't worry about getting a rotten/too ripe handful of your favorite fruits. Carrot cake and oreo+rasberry have to be my top choices. Although I would like to try the avocado soon.... Two toppings is 4.50. Portion is huge. I always have to share. Gaaah....this place is close to my apartment and open late.......okay I'm going to get some now. *********************************** Here is where I will evaluate the mix-ins combinations *********************************** Oreo + raspberries- Oreos and creamy just go together! The raspberries make the yogurt slightly tart. The combination tastes much like chocolate covered raspberries. Oreo + Heath bar- I feel like a kid again with this combo! Again, you can't go wrong with any combination when it involves Oreo, but the crunchy bits of toffee make it even better. Avocado + carrot cake- SO GOOD AND YOU GET YOUR VEGGIES (that's how it works right??)!! Avocado doesn't impart THAT much flavor (perhaps it's because the avocados aren't in season) but make the yogurt extra creamy and rich. The carrot cake tastes phenomenal with this backdrop. Lemon + raspberries- I was imagining this combination to taste like raspberry lemonade....sadly, nope! They use REAL lemon slices here and the result was SUPER sour and quite bitter from the membrane skins (I don't know what it's called...) of the fruit. Avoid lemon in anything!

The frozen yogurt here is absolutely delicious! I've heard that the middle eastern food, especially the falafel, is wonderful. I can't wait to try more here. And it's my favorite kind of spot- a hole in the wall that surprises you with it's delicious, homemade, inexpensive menu. Can't wait to try more!

The food here is absolutely awesome. Whenever I'm thinking to get something healthy for dinner, this is the first place that comes to mind. The falafel wraps and grilled chicken wraps are just so good. They fill them with lots of crunchy veggies and just the right amount of tasty hummus. Seriously. So good. There's really no atmosphere, as it is mainly a take-out joint, but the ladies here are super sweet and will make you feel lik e a welcomed guest.

I didn't have the greatest fro-yo experience here, but it's because we weren't sure how it works. For anyone that's curious, this isn't a Pinkberry or a Red Mango with lots of fruit/chocolate toppings. This is just a huge menu of flavors and they just mush everything into one froyo. Now I know. The servings are absolutely huge. I had blueberry banana. It tasted great but hard to really taste the banana. The girl I was with had coffee and Butterfinger, and it was pretty bad (although I'd say mostly her fault). Coffee obviously overpowered the Butterfinger so that's all you really tasted. Plus they actually use coffee, as in there are black coffee grinds in your teeth after you eat it. The consistency eating it was as if someone kicked sand in your soft serve ice cream. So it definitely takes some careful planning but I'm confident there are some perfect combos out there. I need to go back and try raspberry Oreo as someone suggested.

Ordered at 9:45 ... its 11:15 and my food is still not here ... Called 3 times .. no answer 4th time .. finally the phone was answered ... most unpleasant woman on earth (doubtful but still) food has been good in the past but this customer service is just NOT worth it

Don't let the shoddy exterior fool you! Their wraps and frozen yogurts are perfect and CHEAP! Definitely recommend everything. I promise it's tasty!

Good memories of walking here in the summer to try a new flavor of fro-yo for a great price! I never got any other food because it seems very much like a take and go place. And I just can't eat sandwiches while I walk.

My friend just moved in to the neighborhood and after we hauled stuff to her place from Bed Bath & Beyond- we were is desperate need of a refreshing treat. I'm so glad we picked Hidyan over Berryline. Both are great- but so many places put toppings on TOP like berryline. Hidyan grinds it right in! I didn't realize that if you get 2 flavors they are mixed right together. So now it makes sense I got such a weird look when I asked for avocado and brownie. It was surprisingly good combo! But next time I'll stick to just one flavor. The servings are HUGE!

  • Rocky H.

I liked it. A lot more than expected. Didn't know much about Middle East Food but had a falafal wrap and hommus and it was really good.... the girl I went out with said she eats there all the time so I didn't put up a fight not a huge vegetable person but this sandwich was more than just edible it was good Don't think I need to go back anytime too soon -- will rather eat Brasilian BBQ but thought it was worth yelping for any other peeple that want to live on the edge a little

The place is great! Affordable, tasty, and the service is very friendly. My favorite are the Mediterranean wraps with lots of tzatziki.

This place has gotten me and my friends through many a booze-soaked college night. Now that I've graduated and am no longer within a walking/delivering radius, I've been missing their delicious, greasy chicken baskets, fries, and the best froyo in Boston I've ever had. Hands down. There is nothing the froyo masters at Hidyan's can't do. Yeah, it's really sketchy looking, in a neighborhood I tend to avoid at night. And yeah they can be a little gruff. But they make good food, deliver for decent prices. I wish they still delivered to where I'm at now.

Best things about Hidyan Café: -The frozen yogurt is da bomb. I worked at Dairy Queen for years, and I'd probably still take Hidyan froyo over a DQ blizzard if I had to choose. They legitimately throw your flavor choice in an industrial mixer. Milky Way? That's a whole candy bar down the hatch. Brownie? Looks like chocolate, tastes like a brownie. Blueberry Oreo? Fantastic. Even Fig Newton was pretty impressive. -The woman behind the counter almost never smiles, but you can't help but like her. We've been there three times, and already she knows we're just there for yogurt. I like little touches like that. Don't be fooled by the shady-laundromat-looking exterior! We walked past it the first time, intimidated, and I wish we'd stayed for food and yogurt. It only FEELS shady at first. They have a credit card charge, which is almost definitely not allowed by Visa and MasterCard (it's like $1 if your bill is less than $7), but I think I'll live paying cash when I go.

  • Jimmy H.

Wrap tasted OK, Lasagna tasted better. It's mediocre good, lunch joint if you work close to it or if you are too tired to cook and in the mood of ordering in. This place is like chameleon to me. I can't quite figure its ethnic genre. It's got American(burger/sub), Italian(pasta), wrap(Mediterranean?), etc.... If you are a business owner in Fenway area and want to have catering, this place could be reasonable place to order from.

  • Danny P.

Can I say one of the nicest Oreo milkshake I've ever brought? Place is good for milkshakes!

    (4)
  • Edward W.

2 words: frozen yogurt Seriously, just based off size alone it blows any other place I've been to in Boston out of the water. You don't want to pay $5+ on a small yogurt? Come here instead. The owners are so generous it's not even funny. Flavor wise? Awesome as well. They let you combine any 2 flavors on the menu. Favorite by far is Raspberry Oreo. Nothing else I've tried ever beat this combo. Other good flavors are Blueberry Oreo & Coffee Oreo (basically most things + Oreo). Just don't mix 2 fruit flavors (doesn't mesh well and you'll end up eating some funky mix of 2 fruits that doesn't taste like either).

This place is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire city. I started coming here when I lived around the corner, and now, every time I visit Boston I have to visit here. Everything is so fresh and great! My favorite staple has to be the avocado and brie roll-up. They put huge chunks of avocado and brie in there...amazing! And their pizza! Some of the best pizza I've ever had, hands down. Don't miss out on the great frozen yogurt here, too. You can get pretty much any flavor you could ever want! Also: the family that runs this place is so sweet and friendly!

  • Amy T.

My husband and I have been Hidyan Cafe regulars for a few years now. The food is consistently good. I personally love the eggplant and sun dried tomato roll up and my husband raves about the pepperoni pizza and tuna sub. As others have said, the frozen yogurt is always enjoyable. You have the choice of pretty much every topping imaginable. I have a great deal of respect for the couple who run this place. They work tirelessly for their customers. Despite their long hours, they always manage to greet us with a warm smile each time we walk through their doors. For as long as we live in the Fenway neighborhood, we will continue to go there.

  • Meredith B.

Falafel and hummus wrap, chicken fingers, and froyo are amazing. I order pretty much every time it rains. Thankfully, the delivery man is really nice! This is a small, single family owned, hole in the wall. But it is delicious and appropriately priced and the owners are lovely. I will come back to Hidyan Cafe even when I move out of Fenway. And I will order it to BIDMC over Cafe 472 any day.

  • Rejena C.

Everything here is pretty average, no better no worse. Had the spinach and artichoke salad and the cheese pizza. The spinach and artichoke salad was good, but definitely not too many artichokes hearts in it to be titled that way. The cheese pizza was alright, there was not a lot of sauce though. A a medium pizza can be eaten for one person. Overall, not too impressed but decent food.

Great and tasty food. Very big and delicious frozen yogurt (try the pistachio). Steak combo is great too. Chicken fingers is irresistible. Simply its great.

  • Omer A.

Like everyone says, don't let the exterior fool you! Nicest owners/couple EVER. If you get to know them, they'll offer you complimentary tea and even let you sit with and have breakfast with them! The food has great TASTE and is a great value for the price! Also, they are known for their froyo, which is not overpriced even with any of their DOZENS of toppings mixed in, and is one of the best I've had! Highly recommend!

  • Lexi W.

The best place in Boston! I love their frozen yogurt and veggie pizza! Me and my sister go there all the time and we are never disappointed (and we are really picky about where we eat out). If you go there make sure to try the blueberry yogurt or milkshake! They really are amazing! It really is well worth it! :D

    (5)
  • Mariya V.

Came here for the frozen yogurt everyone raves about, and trust me when I say it didn't disappoint!! I'm very picky about my frozen yogurt, I prefer a really creamy texture and only have two places I normally go to, but this is officially my third. For four bucks, you get a lot of delicious froyo. My friend and I couldn't stop raving about it for the next hour. I tried pistachio which was perfectly creamy with just the right bits of small pistachio pieces for a crunch. My friend got the carrot cake flavor..also good, but mine was better! They have a lot of interesting flavor choices which I think are directly grinded into the yogurt giving it the best flavor. I'm trying kit kat next! Definitely going to be my summer treat to cool down.

  • David M.

People really rave about this place - and maybe I should go back - but between the sketchy looking store front, a slightly odd smell when I walked in and a mediocre lunch, I'm writing it off for now. The falafel wrap had questionable lettuce and a very acidic taste. It may have been an off day - but with so many great options in the area, I don't get how they can afford to keep there store front so dingy without wowing every customer with there food.

    (2)
  • Rachel S.

Been coming here for years. Wonderful food. Great frozen yogurt. They actually make amazing vegetable pizza. Everything here is good. Big fan of the tuna wrap also, which cannot be ordered anywhere.

    (5)
  • Ellie P.

ordered a sandwich and frozen yogurt for delivery, both were really good! The guy who delivered them was super friendly and nice, and literally took 20 minutes to deliver the food, which grubhub said would take over an hour. Will definitely order from them again!! Froyo game was strong here

    (5)
  • Jason Y.

The frozen yogurt here is top tier! The flavors here are great and you get a nice, satisfying amount. You can tell the owner cares about his product. On a sunny day, he actually came outside to adjust all the outdoor umbrellas -- just so everyone would be a little more comfortable! What a guy. Thanks for a great experience. :)

  • Amanda C.

I live right next to Hidyan so I really wanted it to be good. However, the food I've had has been very disappointing even for a fast food place. The steak tips were dry, gray gyro meat looking pieces of "beef" that had no flavor, the pasta was mushy and had no flavor (do you see a pattern?) and the chicken fingers and fries are just frozen crap. I haven't had the frozen yogurt, which seems to be the thing people really like from Hidyan, so I can't comment on that. This place is designed solely for take-out, as the inside seating area is disgustingly dirty and in constant disarray...so don't go there to eat in. What is really comes down to is that the food is downright bad.

    (2)
  • Maxie S.

This place is a hole in the wall. But I've gotta say, hands down, they have some of the best froyo I've ever had- they have every flavor imaginable, and you can mix and match! And it's all mixed fresh in front of you!

    (4)
  • Kiana S.

I ordered delivery and got the eggplant wrap. After reading the description, I asked for no cucumbers, since I am allergic. I received my wrap and what do you know- I bite right into a cucumber. I called them to discuss this and was met with rude customer service. I'm never ordering from here again.

    (1)
  • Francis C.

The owner is a super nice woman who makes great food. The menu has grown and the frozen yogurt combinations are endless.

    (4)
  • Lauren L.

Okay, the falafal wrap is just okay. I don't like this place because it's run like a third world. They don't use A/C, and the doors are always open if it's hot, because they don't use A/C. So, going there feels like you've just entered a hot yoga studio, but instead of yoga everywhere, it smells of food and grease. And having the door open all the time just really invites every airborne insect onto your make table, you're stove, your oven, your plates, everywhere. This place is what I'd expect to find if I were touring the middle east and this place was somewhere in the desert, in the 1800's, except they have a phone. It's just not that clean and fresh here. Most of the customers come here are taxi drivers (Boston's taxi depot is right there) and people who wants some frozen yogurt. If you like clean and shiny dining establishments, I would avoid. If you like third-world level appearance, cleanliness, and temperature, come here. In the hot heat of July, this place was terrible to stand there and wait for my food.

  • Ali Cat Parties A.

GROSS! I got the Buffalo Chicken Roll-up. Trust me when I say that you need an extra set of canine teeth to chew the ridiculously overcooked chicken! Let us not get into the old a$$ tomato in it!!!!!!!!! Maybe they think the squoosh thats oozing from the old mushy tomatoes will soak into the dried up chicken and work itself out, but that did NOT happen! Don't waste your money on this place!!!!

  • Lisa B.

Based on my fellow yelpers' reviews, I thought this would be a slam dunk 4-star experience. Sadly, my food was... not good. I ordered the brie and avocado roll-up. The pita bread was really dry, and the whole wrap fell apart upon opening. Also, the avocado wasn't ripe, so I couldn't eat any of it. At $7.50, I left pretty disappointed (and still hungry). Bummer :(

  • Jamie H.

fast, fresh, and inexpensive - this is a great go-to spot for subs and salads. i submitted the foodler order yesterday for subs, and within minutes the restaurant called us to ask which salad dressing to substitute since the one i had selected was not available. i appreciated this extra step, since often times restaurants will just throw in a different one of their own choosing. the food then arrived about 10-15 minutes later, which is really quick for delivery. i ordered the grilled chicken roll-up, and my fiance got a turkey sandwich. the pita bread was pretty fresh, and the chicken had nice flavor and was not too dry. it also came with plenty of vegetables including lettuce, tomato, carrots, pickles, and peppers. i thought it was pretty good, and certainly appreciated the fast and accurate order completion.

In life, one of the most important things you can do is finish strong. And that's where Hidyan excels- dessert. So get that. My favorite mix ins are blueberry and granola. It's like getting just the happy ending and not having to sit through the awkward exercise of a sub-par massage. They have that yogurt that you can mix whatever you want into, like at Angora Cafe. So, I think of this place as a fro yo shop, not a lunch place really. With that said, my Israeli co-worker totally loves their falafel, so maybe it's authentic or something but I don't get goosebumps over it. Their other roll ups (buffalo chicken, chicken Caesar, etc.) are similar. They'll do the job, and if you're at Simmons, they are the closest non-chain place that will get you a quick lunch. But you'll have to finish it with your hand unless you get the yogurt.

  • Taso A.

Lunch. Falafel wrap. Good not great. Microwaved falafel. Chewy as result. Pita didn't hold up. Nothing special here. Decor. Sub par. Loose ceiling tiles. Glass dirty. Back room not so great. Service. Friendly. Knowledgable. Value. Decent. Verdict. Prob won't return for lunch. Will for frozen yogurt smoothie to try out.

    (3)
  • Lesley K.

FRO. ZEN. YO. GURT. The falafel is good. The sandwiches are good too. But let's be honest, these are just waypoints on the journey to frozen-yogurt heaven. If the hole-in-the-wall decor skeeves you out, walk a half a block and have a seat in the little public garden instead. Sure, it's full of bees, but the frozen yogurt's so good, you won't be able to blame them for trying to take it from you.

I went to Northeastern for five years, and always avoided this place because it looked a little sketch. Two years later, I started working next door, and despite the new chains in the area (Panera, Chipotle, Upper Crus etc.), the food options are meh and not so healthy, so I decided to give it a try. SO sorry I didn't sooner! Now, I eat here on average 3 days a week. I'm a veg, so I stick to wraps for the most part, and I gotta say - their hummus and falafel is the best around. Prices are super reasonable, and the owners are so sweet, and always the only ones working the counters. When you order any wrap, she replies, "with all the fresh veggies?" YES PLEASE.

the other night i had a dream about the $2 make your own frozen yogurt thing they got goin on there! it got me through 4 years of college latenight snacks... can't find anything like it in ny!

  • Peanuts The Guinea Pig B.

Oh Hidyan, why are you so good to me, baby? If you attend college near the Fenway area, Hidyan is literally the one-stop for all your needs cafe. Everything is home made. Except for the chicken fingers, as I watched them pull out a bag from the freezer. But so good nonetheless. I love the pizza, and my two favorite items on the menu are the humus roll up, hold the falafel, and the buffalo chicken fingers. Oh and also the egg salad sandwich with Bacon. Fro Yo is a blast there. They are open from 12 to 12. Every. Single. Day. You really can't beat that, and the price is awesome. Delivery on anything over $7. I haven't ordered as much recently since one of their drivers is new and can't seem to find his way out of a paper bag, so I gotta wait like 40 minutes. But usually you order it and someone eerily shows up like 10 minutes later. It's like they were hiding in the bushes the whole time just listening to you thinking aloud about the menu. Long live the Hidyan. If you are wondering about the quality of the food, well, anything that doesn't give me diarrhea or hunched over a toilet all night is quality to me!

    (5)
  • Brenda H.

The Hidyan Cafe has to be one of the best kept secrets of the Fenway. Just looking from the outside you can't tell how delicious your food will be. The family that runs this joint is happy, friendly and you can tell they love to cook :) I have eaten here for the last 4 years and tried everything on the menu - and I have not gotten anything bad. They are open late during the summers - which is perfect for having a frozen Yogurt mixed with anything you can dream of - sitting outside watching the locals walk around.

  • Shan C.

I hesitated for a while to come here even though it is right in my hood and family owned and operated. Finally earlier this spring we tried the Frozen Yogurt and it is great! Kiwi for Jay and Oreo for me. WOW- the portions are huge and for a great price. I will have to come back for some takeout falafel.

    (4)
  • Andrew R.

Hmmm. Hard to say. Just tried their take-out, and it was okay. The falafel was alright, nothing astounding, though the onions were a little overly strong and the cucumbers didn't taste quite right. The service was brusque, at best, and the place itself is rather unpleasant. A definite hole in the wall cafe. This is the kind of place you'd totally forgive and call a hidden gem - if only the food were actually that good. I'll go back sometime and give the fro-yo and another sandwich a try, but I'll wait til it's a nice day and I need an excuse to walk down to the park for lunch. Otherwise, there's nothing to draw me back here.

  • Mike L.

I just wanted to pop in and offer a quick note re: Hidyan Cafe. I live in the area and order take out and delivery from here once a month or so. The quality of their subs (love the meatball), sandwiches (love the grilled mushroom), and pizzas (see attached photos) is consistently above average. Hidyan Cafe is definitely worth a shot if you live in the neighborhood and need a quick bite to eat -- they'll almost assuredly win you over.

    (4)
  • Rob C.

i have no idea what nationality the guys that run this place are, but when i first moved to the neighborhood in the dog days of summer, i always noticed lots of people getting ice cream there, sitting outside on the picnic table (actually i never could tell if those were regulars or employees or both), and hanging out. i still haven't tried the ice cream (frozen yogurt, apparently), but they make a damn good pizza, with good crust, decent sauce, and good quality toppings for a very reasonable price. so other than for curiosity, i don't really care what a Hidyan is, but for now it's first on my pizza list.

  • Alexis B.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to order the stupid portobella mushroom sandwhich thing. Honestly it must be 6-8 times. Guess how many times they have mushrooms to make it? None. Take things off your menu you can't make!! RRRR.

  • Sara C.

Any place that will deliver fro yo to my door is fabulous in my book. They have tons of different flavors and everytime I have gotten delivery it has been super quick. I can order it online with campusfood.com and not have to worry about having cash either. I took a star off because frozen yogurt is really the only item I have loved at Hidyan's. I have tried the falafel as well as the gyro and it hasnt blown me away like the frozen yogurt has.

    (4)
  • K R.

Fresh vegetables, low prices, outdoor seating. It's also cheap and looks like a hole in the wall, but I'm a fan of this place.

  • George G.

Hidyan Cafe offers a variety of frozen yogurt flavors ranging from traditional to wtf. I ordered carrot cake fro-yo and it was greeeeeat! Nothing is pre-mixed so I watched as the woman behind the counter blended chunks of carrot cake into the fro-yo and made my heart melt. Its been months and I still talk about it. I later returned for a sandwich and didn't like it.

Frozen yogurt is Amazing! Try brownies and oreo mix! I've also had the steak and cheese sub, and its fantastic. Don't let the shoddy exterior fool you lol.

I've lived one block from this place for a full year now. Never thought about eating here because it looks quite shabby from outside. Finally gave it a try today and I am glad I did. Had the chicken avocado &sundried tomato wrap. It was so awesome that it prompted me to write my first review here on yelp. And the price is very reasonable too.

This is where you go if the Swirl Freeze machine at Emack and Bolio's is broken. :( :( :( I was actually put in a very sad mood last weekend when I wanted a reward for running the half marathon and the Swirl Freeze machine at E&B wasn't working. Sensing my mood had shifted significantly, the boy suggested this place, which he knew of just by being in Fenway often enough. He didn't realize it was the same fro yo machine, which I was delighted to find! And here I was thinking I was getting a sad substitute for E&B. Well, it kind of was to be honest. While this machine somehow didn't seem nearly as work intensive as the E&B one, they didn't clear it out in between orders, so that my raspberry tasted more like raspberry-and-York-peppermint-patty. Meehhh, still ok I guess. Also, they give you waaayyyyy more than is necessary for one single person. As a result, they also charge $5 for fro you with one topping! Booo on that, which is why this will always only be a backup. Side note, is this place related to Cafe Podima in Beacon Hill? They have like the exact same menu.

    (3)
  • Jeanne B.

Dropping down to three stars because every time I call this place someone is incredibly rude to me. I just called to add a drink onto an order and the woman put me on hold for five minutes (I had to hang up and call back ten minutes later) and she was insanely unhelpful once I did actually get her on the phone. Food is great though, just don't expect any customer service.

I am a frozen yogurt junkie. you think im kidding, but it i oh so true. I have officially broken up with ice cream and am now involved with Froyo, and i owe it all to Hidyan! I always order the raspberry oreo - and i love it because they take a handful of raspberries and a handful of oreos and crush them all up and it goes right in. This, to me, is a gift from god, the chocolaty goodness, the sweet and tart raspberries - absolut heaven. I am ashamed to say that i havent really eaten there, but i always go back for more of that froyo goodness. its well worth it - and then head over to peterborough to the Dorothy David Ramler park to eat it, or to the fens to watch people with dogs or playing basketball or running or the cute people sunbathing- good times my friends, good times.

Oh how I love thee. This place is a true hidden gem. It is close by to my school which is a blessing but can be bad for my weight. :P Their pizza is the best. I live in Dorchester but if I wanted some really great (not just good) pizza I would go here. Their calzones are huge! Their fries are crunchy and tasty. Their subs are wonderful. There is just way too much to chose from. I want to try it all. This is the only place I will eat frozen yogurt at. Plus, the lady who works here is so sweet.

  • Chelsey A.

Ordered a small cheese pizza, fries, and frozen yogurt with oreo mixed in ... I was pleasantly surprised! Everything was really good ... I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something cheap & good. Bonus points: the fries were not soggy when they arrived.

Love the people that work there, they're always pleasant and sweet. The falafel wrap with all the veggies and fresh avocadoes are insanely good. I've eaten there a hundred times and had to take a break so I didn't overdose. Love them, love their food. Worth every penny.

Yucko. Came here for lunch expecting great things based on previous reviews. Falafel was meh - and nothing else Middle Eastern was available: no tabbouleh, no tahini, no baba ganouj, nothing. No roasted vegetable sandwiches. Basically anything reviewed here is unavailable - the excuse was, "we can only make [insert food here - specifically, baba ganouj] when the owner's here - and the owner's never here." Me: "Really? You can't make the things on the menu without the owner present?" Him: "No. We're changing our menu to be more mainstream." (read: buffalo chicken wraps and steak subs). My friend ordered a salad with roasted vegetables, and it was your basic pizzeria salad with slices of fresh mozz on it. "Vinaigrette salad dressing" was straight-up balsamic - there was nothing dressing-like about it, no olive oil, nothing. Very disappointing.

Oreo and raspberry?! Delish! Thank you Maureen H! Three not four stars for the awkward service from the two ladies behind the counter, but when - not if, when - I go back again let's hope I have a positive reason to update.

When I dream of frozen yogurt, I dream of the the frozen yogurt from the Hidyan Cafe. I could eat it for every meal. The portion is big, the price is right, and the base yogurt is extremely delicious. BUT THEN. . .you can add anything you want and the super-friendly proprietress will mix the goodness all together in her magical machine. If you order carrot cake, she puts a piece of carrot cake in there. If you order almond joy, she unwraps a frozen bar and in it goes. You get the idea. There are about twenty-five options to choose from. The only reason that Hidyan is not getting five stars from me is that I have never been there for savory items. I may update if things change, but the yogurt is enough for a whole meal for me and goddamn it's delicious. p.s. sometimes they are randomly closed, so if you're coming from afar you may want to call first.

Who doesn't love the Hideous Cafe?? Their fro-yo is just fantastic - no pre-mixed flavors. Maybe I'm just not that familiar with the fro-yo process, but when I asked for carrot cake frozen yogurt I was amazed when the lady threw actual slices of carrot cake in the machine and three seconds later, voila! Some odd flavor choices in the line-up though (just what exactly IS "fat-free elfin"? And is "avacado" really such a good fro-yo flavor?) Intriguing.... Best buffalo chicken wrap ever. And I've also had their ziti alfredo - nothing to write home about, but it's good, and more importantly - it's $6. Lot better than that place down the street from here I'm about to review...

My love affair with Hidyan has gotten so bad that one day, when I was working the front desk at one of the nearby colleges, the Hidyan delivery man walked in, handed me an order, and was half-way out the door before I could tell him that, no, it wasn't for me this time. I therefore feel I have the authority to say that, yes, Hidyan delivers at least in the Fenway area) and accepts credit cards. There's a $7 minimum for credit card sales. This is why I order two frozen yoghurts. Or at least a decent excuse to do so. As others have mentioned, the frozen yoghurt is Hidyan's real selling point. I feel like the harried pony-tailed woman who works there will put pretty much anything you ask into a frozen yoghurt. It is awesome. While some question the avocado thing, it is delicious. They put a half an avocado in and it comes out smooth and cool. I do feel like the frozen yoghurt portions have gotten a bit smaller over the past year or so, but they are still enough to make you almost sick. The menu and signs say the base is "plain", but it's a really delicious vanilla. I also really like their hot sandwiches. The portabello mushroom and cheese one is great. The only thing I've ever been disappointed by is the fish and chips. It's a small-ish portion and was sort of greasy when I got it. The one time I ordered a milkshake, I was pretty disappointed-- they seem to have taken the "milk" part pretty liberally. The indoor seating area is pretty small and kind of sad (vinyl tablecloths and plastic chairs), so if there's a group of you, plan on taking your food elsewhere. Stick to ordering from their strengths of sandwiches and frozen yoghurt and you are good.

Awesome falafel (almost as good as Falafel King's) but even better wraps. They have a really yummy Chicken Kebab roll up with tasty hummus and lots of add on options.

I got a sandwich delivered from here to work for lunch. it took forever, the delivery guy did not have change & it was not very tastey :( I see all the great reviews are for the frozen yogurt, so I might have to try it & update this. but for the sandwiches & wraps, stay away!

This review is for the frozen yogurt only, which is awesome, but the rest of the food looks really good too! A huge menu of flavors, which get mixed in to the regular fro-yo and comes out in individual servings. For an individual the size of an elephant! Neither Natasha nor I could finish our servings, they are enormous! I got the mango (lots of fresh chopped mango in it) and Natasha got the coffee (actual coffee in it). Yum. And it's a bit over $3 for a tub that 2 people can definitely share (closer to $4 if you want to have 2 flavors). the milkshakes that someone was ordering looked very good too. I'm just curious about some of their flavors...avocado seems a little bizarre, but the sorbet ones really got me - what the heck is fufuberry?? Do I even want to know??

This review is for the frozen yogurt only. It is the freaking tastiest thing around fenway and the first thing I eat when I am visiting Boston, which is a few times a year. I love mixing in reeses or snickers. Once I had strawberry, but it wasn't quite enough strawberry flavor for me. Oh, and the baklava was really really tasty too! Though the ambiance is lacking, the service is 5 star. All of the staff are super nice and are really patient while I stand there staring at the mix-ins board for 5 minutes deciding which ones I want.

I expect very little from most places that make pizza that don't have someone that looks like an Italian stereotype working behind the counter, so I was pleasantly surprised by their pizza. I've only tried it once, and I think what stood out the most was the crust; it was flaky and crispy and delicious. It also seems like every other review here mentions the froyo, so I will too. It's very good, and they give you a massive serving of it (I got brownie and caramel). Everything I've tried here so far has been good (pizza, buffalo wrap, chicken Caesar wrap, turkey sandwich), and it's really close so I'm sure I'll be by far more frequently than my belt would prefer.

Go find this place, you'll love it. Just blocks away from Fenway, this mom and pop place is worth the trip. I had the yogurt with Cracklin' Oat Bran and cheesecake. The servings are huge, and hit the spot on a summer afternoon. Enjoy your treat at one of the tables out front while watching the neighbors come and go.

Holed away in a corner of the world I frequently walk past but never enter is Hidyan Cafe. I've been attending school not 5 minutes away and I just discovered it. And I'm graduating. Oh cruel irony! Their storefront is uninteresting and cluttered full of handwritten signs that say "Falafel" "Pizza" and other general food offerings. It's even kinda boring and definitely tiny when you go in. In my big, puffy, snow-repelling coat, backpack and large purse I felt like I took up the whole dining space. The woman behind the counter has helped me twice now and each time, it's a bit awkward, but not too bad. She's a quiet talker for sure, so listen up when she speaks. The man who was there the first time I went speaks little to no English and was confined to operating the fro-yo machine. But he makes a damned good fro-yo, so I won't judge! Their menu is chocked full of stuff, to the point that it can be overwhelming. I say just take a deep breath and go for it. You'll thank yourself. I LOVE the Falafel & Hummus Roll-up. The little falafels are a touch dry, but the creamy smooth hummus picks up that slack easily. So many freaking fresh veggies pile in there, it all combines to make a falafel that is seriously huge. But you must remember to leave room for fro-yo! You must! It's homemade, not just spinning around in a machine waiting for the man to pull the lever and artfully swirl it into a cup. Oh no! The aforementioned quiet guy manning the machine takes the topping of your choice (I went w/ Peanut Butter, my friend, Twix) and gets it all crunched up and blended into the yo to make that flavor yo. Gone are the days of mashing your Twix or Oreo or Butterfinger crumbles onto your towering mass of fro-yo in the hope they'll stay put long enough to be consumed. Hidyan Cafe has answered my prayers and makes a damn fine IMMENSE cup of fro-yo. Indulge and enjoy.

YUM!! Five stars solely for their frozen yogurt. After ordering from Ankara for the past three years and being so frustrated by their delivery services, I finally decided to try somewhere new. Thank you Hidyan Cafe for being prompt and getting my orders right! I used to wait literally two hours for Ankara and now my yogurt from Hidyan comes in less than half an hour. Their yogurt is creamy, the topping selection is to die for, and they will even give me half vanilla half chocolate :) If you love froyo as much as I do and are looking for a new place... try Hidyan! You won't be disappointed!

I LOVE LOVE this place for sandwiches! The staff here are so nice and everything tastes SO fresh! This is a much better lunch option than all the corporate stuff in this area. The menu here is endless and they have TONS of vegetarian stuff. Awesome Awesome Awesome!

Tasty hummus/falafel wrap! Not to mention blueberry/chocolate cake froyo. Mmm.... I think their frozen yogurt is actually better than Ankara's, and it's cheaper by 70 cents. I have yet to try Angora's. Who is the amazing person who started this whole Middle Eastern diner around BU that serves up pizzas and sandwiches galore and the most amazing frozen yogurt?? The lady at the front was all business, so she wasn't the friendliest of ladies, but the guy she ordered around in Turkish or whatever language was nice and friendly despite his lack of English. Are they husband/wife? If yes, I think they make a funny couple. I swear we saw them making out in the back when we were leaving. Maybe. Hehe.

I've only been here for the frozen yogurt, and truthfully, the fro-yo is worth it for a visit. Huge servings for cheap prices. And delicious flavor combinations that you get to choose yourself. Needless to say, I was impressed. Now this isn't like the Pinkberry sour yogurt fro-yo craze type of fro-yo, but it's still darn good. What makes it so good is the fact that they take actual bits of fruit, candy, whatever ingredients you desire and mix it into the dessert. No artificial flavors here. (Well, not really.) And you can mix and match. I got Heath Bar & raspberry. Yum! (Real bits of raspberry fruit!) And yes, the portions are plentiful. I could barely finish mine. It's like the Cold-Stone of fro-yo.

While it has a less than promising look about it, this place has forever changed my taste in frozen yogurt. I honestly don't like any of my usual haunts any more, because they don't stack up to the frozen yogurt experience at Hidyan! We've tried some of their lunch/dinner foods, which were just okay, (portions are large across the board), but I can't give it less than five stars, because this is seriously the best frozen yogurt I've ever had!

I have finally found a delicious falafel in Boston!! The falafel wrap at Hidyan Cafe is the best in town. All homemade, fresh ingredients, soft thin lavash bread, and the hummus is perfect. To get the proportions just right, make sure to ask for extra hummus.

I've only been here once, but I didn't really enjoy my sub. The bread was cold and kind of stale tasting, and the meats and cheeses weren't anything special. I didnt try the frozen yogurt or the falafel wrap. I'll have to try it again sometime. I'm more of a college pizza fan.

The frozen yogurt is fantastic here but the place still sketches me out. And sometimes when you want that chocolate craving the candy bar they put into the fro yo machine gets ground up so much you can't even taste it. It frustrates me.

This place is amazing - delicious wraps and salads, cooked fresh and made to order. I recommend the grilled chicken and avocado wrap. I would also advise ordering take-out as opposed to eating there - it's not the coziest of spots. But with a well-priced and extensive menu, friendly service and convenient hours of operation, it's hard to beat the Hidyan.

From the outside you wouldn't expect this place to be one of the hidden jewels of Fenway. Don't let the looks fool you. This place serves some of the best comfort foods around. First off, their pizza is one of my favorites if not my favorite pizza in Boston. Their cheese is so gooey and the crust is flaky and buttery. If you're a health conscious person you might not like it because there is a fair amount of grease. But when it's late and your hungry, nothing satisfies your stomach better than a Hidyans pizzas. I also love their burgers and fries. They make a pretty darn good french fry and the burgers are simple but so damn tasty. They grill the bread, and the bread they use is a little different. I haven't tried their wraps yet but, from what I've seen they are enormous. The woman there is also one of the biggest sweethearts you'll ever meet. Good food and a friendly staff is always place you want to go back to.

Pizza is typical, I would avoid the sandwiches, but go here for frozen yogurt. The yogut itself is awesome but then you can customize it with any kinds of candy, fruit, etc and they mix it in for you like a really thick and yummy milkshake. OH MY GOD, go here every day twice a day in the summer. it is the best thing in the world. WAY better than cold stone.

I have owed Hidyan a review for a while now... certainly a hole-in-the-wall type of place, but there are some great menu options. I love the steamed veggie salad (w/grilled chicken), the hummus wrap with loads of cukes (actually, i've tried a few wraps and they've all been delicious), the rice pilaf, and the grape leaves (a little on the greasy side, but still...yum). The calzones aren't too cheesy (which is good) and the chicken parm sub is supposedly delicious. As I've heard, if you're picky, you might be better off getting pizza elsewhere, but the fro-yo is as delicious as the other reviewers have claimed. Portions are generous and prices are inexpensive. And best of all, the woman who runs the ship (...and I won't even try to spell her name here, as I'll certainly butcher it) is AWESOME. Big shout out to her! Anyway, I live a stone's throw away, and Hidyan is my go-to for quick and consistently good neighborhood take out.

So this place has amazing pizza, especially the veggie pizza. Not sure if its the fresh toppings, or the grease, but either way, its probably one of the better pizza places in Boston. I think they have one of the best pizza crusts in town as well. It's definitely a hole in the wall kinda place, but they have plenty of items on the menu and most of it isn't bad. The frozen yogurts are also verryyy good on a hot summer day (too bad the place doesn't have air conditioning though). If you get one of the frozen yogurts, try the Oreo flavor (goes for about $4). I've tried several items on the menu, and most of it was generally decent for the price. The gyro was not too good though. But I remain committed to this place for its pizza and desserts. Also, the owners of the place are realllllly nice. Sometimes, she'll throw on extra toppings at no cost. They're open for lunch and then remain open pretty late. Great spot to go to if you live in the neighborhood and don't want to go too far for a quick bite.

This place is a hole in the wall, but they have the BEST frozen yogurt!!! You choose the ingredients (mango chunks, reeses peanut butter cups, etc.), and they mix it with the soft serve ice cream. It tastes really really really good. I know people from the med school across the muddy river that loyally visits this place.
