Ordered a Garden Omelette breakfast sandwich (omelette with peppers, tomatoes, onions) on a English muffin to-go. It came in about 5 minutes and they packed it up nicely--wrapped in aluminum foil in a to-go bag with napkins and ketchup. I enjoyed the sandwich and it was fairly filling--the eggs were possibly slightly overcooked, but not too noticeably. The onion was the most prominent ingredient, which I loved, but the peppers were also abundant. They were a bit skimpy on tomatoes in comparison and the english muffin either could not withstand the amount of eggs and became soft or it wasn't toasted much at the start--either way, it was still very tasty. Overall, this was another good experience with Cookin' Cafe and I will continue to go back!

I ordered pancakes and bacon. The bacon was microwaved or atleast tasted like it. It wasn't even very hot. I could do better at home any day. The pancakes were just poor too. I didn't finish my meal . I couldn't.

I found the steak tip sub to be quite tasty with a generous portion of meat. I recommend.

Used to be a huge fan. Until my order, 3 hours after I ordered it, still hadn't arrived, after 2 phone calls and an attempt to reach Grub Hub. Sure, they apologized on the phone, but you need to pick up the damn phone and tell your customers that their food will take 3 hours to get there, and will maybe never arrive, instead of waiting for them to call you, when they're all already ticked off. Maddening. And now I'm starving and have to find a Plan B.

I don't normally give poor yelp reviews, but after the third time in a row of cooking cafe delivering half of an order, I had to post this. Sure, I should have simply stopped ordering after the second time, but I like to give people chances. I can't do that anymore here. When it takes an hour to deliver a couple of omelettes and you only show up with one, you should reexamine the way you do business. Pull it together guys because your food is alright otherwise.

I really want to make this four or five star place, but its inconsistencies make them impossible to rely on. I have been here multiple times on the weekend to grab a breakfast sandwich. I order online and for some reason, they didn't get it. I then wait twenty minutes for a egg and cheese on an English muffin. I order over the phone, am told ten minutes, and I still end up waiting a half hour when I walk in. I used to get bacon egg and cheese until they put sausage on my sandwich instead of bacon. If they were busy when I went in I would understand, but I`m there when its too early for the college crowd and the shop is empty- these guys are so nice when you come in, but the kitchen is just dysfunctional and inefficent.

Perfect place for a quick meal. Their menu is ridiculously large and every item I've ever gotten has been pretty good. Not the classiest place ever, so don't bring your dates here, but holds its own against any of the casual, cheap dining places in Packard's Corner.

Props for delivering breakfast! That's awesome. But... it's kinda meh. Unlike previous reviewers, we got perfectly-cooked pancakes--golden on both sides. But they were dense, and heavily-vanilla-scented-- not thick and fluffy; almost spongey in texture. Delivered still warm, so no major complaints there. One friend got "Texas French Toast" and there was nothing "Texas" about it... it's just regular white Wonder bread. Even with the thinner bread, however, the custard didn't soak all the way through to the middle. Just slightly egg-coated toast, with no powdered sugar to hide the "griddle grease" taste. We also ordered a breakfast sub, which is probably the best deal, economically speaking, for the amount of food... but the cheese on the "Ham, egg, and cheese" was a very thick, white pasteurized goop. Probably white American triangles or something, applied way too liberally for my liking. Does the job, if you're really hungover, probably... but I'll probably just crawl over to the Allston Diner with sunglasses and a Snuggie on, or something, next time.

I ordered breakfast delivery (!!) and got their chocolate chip pancakes and a froyo milkshake. Delivery took a while (over an hour) but it was worth the wait. The chocolate chip pancakes were DELICIOUS. A stack of four for $8.99 - more than your average pancakes but definitely worth it. The froyo milkshake wasn't bad, but tasted more like milk than a shake. Oh well, still alright. If I'm ever craving a breakfast delivery again, this place is at the top of my list.

The egg white was burnt at some parts and on others was over cooked. For the first third I thought they sent me the wrong order cause there was no veggies Pancakes were full of vanilla and a bit dry on the edges In conclusion: not ordering from here again

Ehhhhh. Ordered breakfast delivery to my hotel, took an hour and 45 minutes, and arrived cold. Im sure it wouldn't be bad if it was warm. I ordered through grub hub before seeing the yelp reviews lol. The toast was so stiff I had to bite and tear pieces off like some kind of creature, eggs were rubbery. Home fries were good, just frozen! For 16 dollars I wouldn't order again. Should have just waited a few hours and gone to chipotle. Oh and after an hour and 20 minutes I called to check on my order and the guy says "you're 80 _____ street right?" And I wasn't, the street was right the number wasn't, I think this aided to the slowness. Probably started to get delivered somewhere else lol.

If I could give this a -5 stars I would! We ordered delivery for a bunch of people, and they forgot an order! And we had to wait another hour for that order, but when they finally delivered that order, IT WAS THE WRONG ORDER! They still wanted the wrong order back, even though we already opened and touched it! THEY WERE GONNA SERVE YOU THE FOOD OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TOUCHED!

Ordered a mediterranean roll up for delivery. Food was cold, took more than an hour to get here, and by the time it got here it was a weird mush consistency. Will definitely not order again.

If you're hungry, don't want burnt food, and hate being lied to DONT ORDER HERE. 8:43: Order processed by Foodler 9:25: Received order of coffee, soggy home-fries, and burnt pancakes. The pancakes looked burnt but I tasted just to be sure they weren't just a little brown. Definitely burnt. 9:36: Informed whomever answered the phone. Respone"No kidding. I can send you another order or give you credit." I requested another order considering it's basically all I ordered. Was told it would be there as soon as possible. 10:10: No food. Called and was told it should be there any minute. 10:41: No food. Called and told the driver would be getting a call. Here's the thing. Cookin Cafe and Grille sent out burnt pancakes. They then lie twice about what's going on. I still have no food and it's 10:46. I wouldn't give them zero (the foods usually a 3) but it's definitely a one now.

Ordered delivery from here and it was SO BAD. The potatoes were undercooked and the steak and cheese was so bland, no melted cheese and on a plain untoasted white roll. Not ordering from here ever again.

Horrific. Ordered breakfast for me and my mother only to receive it 96 munutes later, and only one of the two came in the bag. When I called to complain they told me it was not their problem and to call the website I ordered from. No interest in helping, or fixing the issue at all. Bad service, bad delivery time, and happy to rip you off. Use caution if ordering delivery....

I've lived in a couple nearby spots and delivery was always my favorite weekend treat. The Western omelet is just so good. I even save some for later in the day. I sometimes stop to sit down and warm up in the winter and have some lunch.

I should have looked at yelp and realized that Cookin Cafe wouldn't come through. I just ordered a veg sub, a falafel roll-up and some curly cheesy fries. I don't eat cheese often, but when I do, I expect it to be real cheese. The cheese on the cheese fries was that processed sludge. Totally disappointing. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Or if you love that kind of 'cheese', this place is for you!

Awesome breakfast food! Our food was ready in 5 minutes and was really good. It's definitely a great place to eat quickly and it's inexpensive, I got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and an iced coffee for $5. It is also located right next to the T which is really convenient.

Would really like to give this place a good review since I've been there so many times...Their food is ok, but it's cheap so it cancels the "meh" part of it out. Sadly, today I got food poisoning from their chicken salad sub. Avoid it.

I returned from the Cookin' Cafe no more than 20 minutes ago. It took over an hour for our food... And it was only takeout. Upon walking in, my shoes were met with a coat of sticky slime all over the floor - I'd guess either maple syrup or a visit from the ghey parade. I was immediately confronted by the desk attendant, a Greek mafioso with multiple gold chains, no front teeth, chest hair flowing from his unbuttoned shirt - did I mention he was deaf? So after 10 minutes of signing, he finally realized we were there to pick up food, and not to pay a gambling debt. The cook, a Korean victim of human trafficking, had ebony pornography playing on his iPod as he made our food. The food was not thoroughly cooked - a statement I believe is true because I'm writing this review while sitting on the toilet pissing Cookin' out of my rear. Do not go to this place.

Okay, so, I got a veggie omelet, an order of raisin toast and a corn muffin. I haven't even finished it all(getting full), but man, this is exactly what I needed. I'm in the midst of wrapping things up for the end of the semester(as everyone else is) and I haven't had a real breakfast in forever. This was wonderful. The delivery was quick, the omelet was warm and properly cheesy/veggie-y(I don't like eggs by themselves, so this was great), the hash browns were nice and peppery, and the toast was mild and buttery. :) So yeah, woo!

Delivery was fast and quick, which is awesome. I ordered (4) chocolate chip pancakes and a side of home fries. Home fries were absolute yuck. Completely inedible. It was just baked potato with barely any seasoning and a lot of water added. Thankfully it was only $3, but $3 I could've saved. The chocolate chip pancakes, on the other hand, were magnificent. They followed my directions perfectly and even included powdered sugar! Hot, homemade, just exactly what I want. All in all, I'll order on my next Sunday off!

Disappointed in this place. Ordered in breakfast. It took minutes shy of 2 hours, even after multiple phone calls. When the food got here it was cold and hard. Asked for specific things that were ignored and not made correctly.

Ordered breakfast for delivery using grubhub. Order went to the wrong address (someplace I've never lived). When it finally arrive, it was the wrong food. Food was alright when it got here but definitely not worth the hassle and the wait.

While moving into our new apartment in Cambridge, we ordered some breakfast and lunch options for delivery from Cookin Cafe & Grill... we were famished after having spent 5 days packing, moving, driving, and unloading boxes. The website says 30-45 minutes wait for delivery... almost an hour and a half later, we had hunger pangs and were still waiting for our food. When our food finally arrived, the cheese fries were soggy (the cheese is disgusting taco artificial cheese by the way) and the calzone was only mildly warm (no good!). Only the breakfast roll was passable, but it was a bit dry. Was it worth the wait? No!

Tell me, do you get your greasy hangover breakfast sandwiches from Dunk's? Yes, you. Do me a favor. Back away from the door. Take a right. Walk 2 minutes. Now step into the Cookin' Cafe and get yourself a PROPER egg and ham sandwich for heaven's sake! Let me tell ya, they make one damn good breakfast sandwich here and for a very fair price. It's none of that floppy egg patty nonsense: I'm willing to be that at least 3 eggs go into their fluffy egg sandwiches. Secondly, they take the time to actually mix in the ham and bacon pieces, instead of slapping on a layer of defrosted meat patty. You receive the sandwich and there's actually some weight to it. I'd love to come back some time and try their other items, but their breakfast definitely left an impression on me and my belly. *Note: They also have a million flavors of frozen yogurt, similar to the neighbors, Angora Cafe. It might be worth it to check out!

I've ordered from this place a few times. I've tried the steak bomb, which falls short. Theres not much more in it than the bun, and theres some peppers, and maybe a hint of steak. (the sub looks nothing like the photo in their menu) The pizza is slightly better than the others in the area, but still substandard.

This is the first review I've ever given just one star. I'm certain it won't be the last, but I waffled on whether or not to give it two, just because I didn't want to feel mean. Then I remembered what breakfast was like and how, despite being very hungry, I almost didn't even finish my wrap. Yep, one star it is. I walked in here last weekend to grab some breakfast before meeting my boyfriend downtown. The place was empty and the two people behind the counter didn't seem particularly happy to see me. A breakfast menu was gestured at, so I picked it up to decide. The man standing behind the register seemed impatient so I went with what I considered at the time to be a universally safe bet: a bacon, egg, and cheese wrap and a cup of coffee. I was shocked when he rang up my order because, based on the menus price for the wrap, the coffee was exorbitant. To make matters worse, it wasn't even good coffee! When my food came it was almost inedible. I love bacon, egg and cheese combinations and don't generally shy away from unhealthy food, but I couldn't believe the amount of grease that was dripping from this thing. If I hadn't been starving, I would have just left, but I stayed hoping with each bite that it might improve. The strangest thing about this wrap is that, despite the excessive grease, there was virtually no flavor. I kept looking around hoping to see a bottle of ketchup or some steak sauce to douse it in, but found nothing. I choked down the rest of the wrap and spent the next few hours nauseous from all of the grease I had consumed. It may have been a one-time fluke, but with the combination of less-than-welcoming employees and food that literally made me sick, I won't be back.

Disgusting is an understatement. I've been here twice and both times were awful. Overcooked meat, hair in the food, sour sausages, old cheese, undercooked potatoes, and not even reasonably priced. Are these reviews from other people a joke? Seriously??? 3 stars? I wouldn't feed this to my worst enemy's dog. 3 stars...really?

This is my staple hungover breakfast delivery joint. I always get the short stack chocolate pancakes and a low fat frozen yogurt milkshake w/ Reese's. MMM! One time they delivered the pancakes and they were completely burnt but when I called them, they re-delivered and gave me a free brownie. Thumbs up! The froyo milkshake is usually a little melted when it gets here but it's still so yummy!! And the pancakes are bomb.com . I would stay away from the side items. Home fries were not good and I got a side order of bacon once and it was like burnt, tiny little pieces of bacon. sooo not worth it! My review is for the choc chip pancakes and froyo milkshake only!

If i don't go to T Anthony's i'm at Cookin Cafe. Their breakfast is also good and very good quantity too. They have one of the biggest omelet around. I always get the western omelet with cheese with hash browns and toast. Usually runs me about $9, not bad considering the size.

Order in breakfast sandwiches and some chocolate chip pancakes? F*** Yeah! This place is the best place to order breakfast from on a lazy weekend on when you call in sick at work. Their breakfast sandwiches are big and juicy *wink* and really good, they put tons of cheese in them. A sandwich full of WIN. They're super cheap too. Give 'em a try and then leave me a compliment for recommending them to you.

When I used to live in Boston I ordered from these guys all the time, so I feel I owe them this review. The food is good, and tastes home cooked. The grilled chicken and rice dish has some of the best grilled chicken in the area, and this was one of my favorites. I am very picky and like to customize everything I order and Cookin Cafe always made sure that my order was correct. In three years of ordering, they only messed up 1 order, that is a very good ratio in my book. A bonus about ordering from these guys is that the drivers are friendly, and always make sure to give you a soda if you ordered one, which a lot of places forget. They Deliver breakfast, and my friends and I use to place huge orders when we lived in a house together. The food is sort of bland, and the prices are relatively high for what you get but you can't beat warm French toast and maple syrup in the snow!

Perfect "I'm hungover, must have food" place. I've never been to the actual location as it's far from my apartment but ordered delivery a lot and its always good. It is not excellent food by any means but perfect not that great for you food. One thing I love is that it's not super greasy. Their fries are the best, breakfast is good too.

Okay I really think this pizza is absolutely delicious. I lived a few buildings down for a year before I ever tried it (the name never sounded appealing) and now we only get our pizza here. They also have the best french fries, nice and crunchy even if you pick it up and bring it home.

This cafe is the kind of place that always hits the spot no matter what state your in. Whether it's early in the morning or late at night, they are open most of the day and can deliver right to your house. Their food goes from breakfast items which they serve all day to regular pizza-shop items like subs, pizzas, wings, etc... I've never actually physically been there but I've ordered so many times... Their pancakes are really really good and so are their subs. I've never yet found anything bad on their menu and trust me, I've tried a few. Their delivery guys were nice and punctual which is always a plus. As far as ordering went, I used Foodler.com so I can't say that I've had a bad experience on the phone with them although they once apologized for running out of stock of something and called me so that we could work a replacement out and we did. I highly recommend it whenever your hungry for pretty much anything. And the price is just right!

Totally lame. I have never gotten their breakfast, but that's cuz their lunch and dinner foods have pretty much turned me off forever. Everything is mediocre and if I really need some breakfast, I can just walk up the road to like...T Anthony's or something because this place just doesn't cut it for me. They're awkward, it's ALWAYS empty in there...definitely a bad sign. I think the only reason why they're open is because people don't know how bad the food is so this place stays open based on first time (and last time) diners, but blech. In my opinion, seriously, don't even bother.

    (1)
  • Jillian S.

They deliver breakfast. It's kind of bland, but still... they DELIVER breakfast. And they're really friendly. Yes, I could find a better omelet, but not many will be brought to me while I watch TV in my fuzzy bathrobe.

I haven't experienced anything but breakfast here, but I love it. If I have time to grab breakfast in the morning(or wake up at an hour that breakfast is being served), I never want to go anywhere... I just feel like the whole getting dressed thing would spoil the best part of this meal. This place is great because I can enjoy my favorite meal with little effort. Everytime I've ordered from here I've gotten hot food that doesn't taste like it had been sitting in the back of a car for an hour. The portion size is very generous!! They even deliver iced coffee (which was definitely better than dunks *surprise*)!!! Try the spinch feta and tomato breakfast wrap. SO DELICIOUS.

The guys here are awesome. I live close by and come in all the time for lunch/ breakfast and they always make delicious food. The prices are cheap and there bacon egg and cheeses are top notch. I also usually order at least one greek wrap (no olives) a week.... they are delicious. Pretty standard place. Nothing is going to wow you obviously, but I try to come here as often as possible so I don't have to deal massholes at T's.

I ordered from here last night through foodler. I got the steak bomb sub and mozzerella sticks. For the terrible quality it was overly expensive. The steak bomb had hardly any cheese on it and NEEDED ketchup to mask the burnt taste. Gross. The sub roll they used had no texture and could have veryw ell been made by wonder bread. The mozzerella sticks were ok but i cost a dollar a stick. not worth it. I've read the breakfasts are good but this experience left me cold and I'd rather go to Brighton Cafe (ha!) which is right next door.

I have had the sandwiches here before but it's the pasta I'm going to rave about. I came here because I bought a Groupon Now and figured it was a quick, easy way to grab takeout dinner for me and my roommates. I confess, i didn't have super high expectations for the pasta dish but they blew me away! i had chicken parm, my roommates both had the eggplant. It was fresh, the pasta was perfectly cooked and it was sooo good. Sadly, I liked it more than the pasta specialty place in Coolidge Corner! They make everything fresh while you wait (I think - I couldn't really see but judging by the wait time and how piping hot and delicious it was, that's my guess). And the garlic bread was good! Buttery and crispy. The sandwiches are ok - i've had the steak bomb before. But get the pasta. So worth it.

Wake up on Saturday. Head feels kinda big. Tummy feels kinda empty. Need Food? I'm in an unfamilar area. We ask a guy on the street Around the corner. Go. We shuffle into Cookin Cafe. A guy takes our order. I opt for a breakfast wrap. I should have just gotten a sandwich. I wasn't really happy at all. I was expecting cheese to be involved. I don't like eggs unless cheese is happily mingling with the egginess of it all. I'm a weird kid, what can I say? I was just unsatisfied. I'm sure there are a thousand other places to go that would be better. Heck, I think I would have been happier with Dunkin Donuts and I happen to HATE DD. I guess 2 stars because the service was prompt and friendly. I probably would have loved my breffixt had my wrap been what I wanted. Maybe I'll give them another shot because "I really wanted to like this place".

The only thing I've had here is breakfast while extremely hungover the day after my 21st birthday. They serve standard breakfast fare such as eggs, pancakes, etc. There's plenty of seating and I enjoyed my omelet as much as any hungover person could. Gotta say, I did think the home fries were pretty good as well. No complaints, decent breakfast stop if you're around and hungry.

In the 2 years since I graduated college, campusfood.com has added about a million new restaurants to the Boston network. I logged on craving Mexican, but got intimidated by all the unfamiliar new dining options, and stuck with places that offered burgers. Hello, Cookin' Cafe. One word summarizes my feelings about this place: UNIMPRESSED. The delivery speed was average; the cheeseburger was mediocre (too much bread, too little meat, skimped on the lettuce/tomato/ketchup, pretty bland overall.); the curly fries were good but tasted almost exactly like the ones I get at Loews Movie Theater. Lame. What's the point of eating bad food if it leaves you feeling unsatisfied? I wasn't even greasy afterward, which, as we all know, is the mark of a glorious junk food experience.

Methinks ARSHAD S. mayhaps be friends with those in charge of things over at Cookin Cafe!! He gave it a RaVE review... and magically was invited behind the counter to take lots of high-quality photos of the cooks and employees doin their respective thangs! HMMM!!! Anyways... this place may tout itself as offering the "Best Breakfast" (see banner in aforementioned Arshad pictorial shrine) but I know for a fact that they do NOT! Someone get the BBB on the can for deceptive advertising. I keeeeed, i keeeeed. But seriously. Not only did these guys steal MY idea for creating an establishment that delivers breakfast goodness, but the stuff they offer is simply forgettable, and the service is terrible. --If i could italicize that word, I sure as hell would. I went here with two friends for some greasy grub on Sunday. They got breakfast burritos which were very large, and priced accordingly. One got some homefries which were gross. I got a bacon egg and cheese sammich. Meh. But the problem was with my muffin. 1st of all: They completely forgot about it. I remind them that I had ordered one... and wished it to be grilled. Nothing earth-shattering... just toss it on the grill for a minute. Secondly: 5-10 minutes after I remind them I ordered a muffin... I am still without. My friends have finished. Sooooo I just tell them to put it in a frickin bag and I'll be on my way! And THAT is the real-deal Holyfield. I ain't goin back. Stickin to Twin Donuts if I'm back in this area. PEECE.

Love, love, love this place. I've eaten here/ordered takeout at least 20 times, and the food is consistently good. Prices are great, the actual restaurant is a little bit messy sometimes but the food is worth it. Staff are friendly and helpful. YUM!

There is a sign outside this place that reads the "Best Breakfast in town". I'm thinking this sounds great and decide to go in with my boyfriend for a Sunday morning bite.. I look at the boards and don't even see any breakfast options so I'm like what the.. Then I notice the breakfast menu is separate on the counter. So we open up a greasy menu and decide on a western breakfast sandwich and roll up. The breakfast sandwiches are served on white toast (the cheap kind). I was hoping I would get a bagel or English muffin but oh well. The roll up was large. Both were OK. Nothing you couldn't make at home. The food took forever to be done even though there were only a couple other people in there. The guy at the counter seemed confused with take out orders and stuff coming out on plates. It's set up cafeteria style so expect some sticky uncleared tables. If your going to advertise your "Best Breakfast" how about putting some better options on the menu and cleaning up a bit!

Anyone who knows me knows that I hold a very special place in my heart for any establishment that delivers frozen yogurt with a gazillion choices of mix-ins. I also have warm fuzzies for any place that delivers me hot breakfast any time of day. I've never actually sauntered into the Cookin Cafe but as long as they continue to deliver chocolate chip pancakes, I'll continue to give them my money.

This place can't be serious. My boyfriend and I were looking for a cheap little breakfast place. I barely glanced the YELP reviews (mistake #1) due to our hunger. At first glance and smell, it looked legit. So we ordered pancakes and eggs, simple. Or so we thought. We waited, and waited, and waited. People who ordered 20 minutes after us started getting our food, meanwhile the guy in charge, just stared at us. 40 minutes later no breakfast. No line either, so something was up. Finally the guy comes over and asks us what we ordered. 10 minutes later our breakfast magically appeared. No apology!! Breakfast was at best sub par. Eggs and bacon were revolting. Pancakes were tasteless. I also ordered a diet coke, which was probably the best part of breakfast. Since it had been an hour, my drink was empty and I went up to the cashier to ask for a refil. He had the audacity to say, that will be $1 for a refil! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING?! I refused to pay, adding that waiting an hour for a sub-par breakfast entitled me to at least 5 refills. Scumbags. Never coming back again!!

Here's the deal: it's 8:30 am, you're home with a cold because you just flew back from a business trip on a plane full of sick children and you don't want to leave the house (and of course your fridge is empty because of said trip)... I usually get my breakfast delivery from Andalus, but they don't start delivering it until 11 (what the hell?). So, I went with my only option...Cookin'. The delivery took FOREVER (almost an hour!) but the food arrived hot and was rather tasty. Their omelets are HUGE (thus worth the $7), and their cranberry pancakes are super delicious. Iced coffee was meh. So B+ for taste, C- for speed.

It took them 1 1/2 hrs, two phone calls and an argument to get the food here and we live less than a mile from the place. We were regular customers who won't be going back, ever.

I've gotten many different things from Cooking Cafe; all of which were great. The price is right and the portions are gluttonous. I strongly recommend the turkey club with home fries instead of french fries and the meat lovers breakfast wrap. Great restaurant. I'll always recommend them.

In my opinion this is pretty solid diner fare. While I've only ever ordered delivery, each time it's been what I was wanting. I can say I'm a fan of their turkey club sandwich, simple and tasty. It's not a really fancy sandwich, but it has the requirements and tastes the way it should. And I'm a fan of their fries. In the past I've also tried the burger and the mozzarella sticks and they're pretty decent too. No it's not healthy food, but it's not overly greasy like some places either. All in all, it's a bit cheaper than some of the other options and it's consistent.

If you are craving a local diner style breakfast, but don't want to leave home or stand in line, Cookin Cafe is great. I really like there cranberry pancakes. Sometimes they're not as hot as I like, but that is because they are delivered.

Chicken Parmigiana Dinner: $9.25 Consisted of chopped up chicken fingers slathered in pizza sauce and greasy cheese, all over a bed of mushy overcooked pasta. Yes I ate it... No I didn't enjoy it. Not worth the $9.25

The sandwich board outside says the Cookin' Cafe serves breakfast "all day" but that day ends around four or five, depending on the cook's mood. A shame, really, because breakfast is about the only meal worth ordering at Cookin' Cafe. Everything else is what you'd expect from an Allston-Brighton pizza/sub shop. The dining area is big but not particularly pleasant: the dried blood-red walls and faded art posters are a bit off-putting and it's no fun staring at queasy-looking, bed-headed, pajama-wearing undergraduates who can't be bothered to pick up after themselves.

Best breakfast place in the area. Their pancakes is number one.

During my several year stint in the general Allston area, I became a regular at most of the local sub shops. This one being no exception to my raids. I tend to keep my orders really simple. Turkey sandwich, fries, and a drink. Sometimes I'd go crazy and order a frozen yogurt with three different toppings, but that was when I'd find myself alone on a Friday night. I tended not to venture forth and try anything else. As others have said the tables were usually a mess, and the bathrooms gave me quite a fright. But for simple meals, it could get a lot worse.

Ive only ordered for delivery from this place, for the main reason that I haven't found any places that deliver awesome breakfast food in the morning. Especially helpful when recovering from a long night and several drinks that your liver is not particularly fond of. Fast delivery, good breakfast food, without the pain of getting out of bed (maybe just getting out of bed to open the door to receive said delivery).

After several encounters with rude delivery people, I attempted to boycott Cookin' ... but they've hooked me back in with breakfast delivery. Where else are you going to turn for chocolate chip pancakes or omelets delivered to your door on Saturday mornings? The breakfast sandwiches are especially gooey and delicious. Aside from breakfast, I wouldn't bother. I've found the subs to be disappointing and the pizza to be hit or miss.

Good breakfast sandwiches; cheap, filling. It is the best breakfast in town. My friends and I used to go there almost every weekend morning (afternoon) for some hangover curing. The sub sandwiches are not so good. I got a turkey sub once and it wasn't terrible... it just wasn't good. Other than that no complaints... but I would only eat breakfast here.

While everyone has been talking in tounges about their breakfast delivery (which is awesome), I need to mention that their calzones are some of the best I have had anywhere...Get it Plain or with Sausage or Pepperoni or whatever the hell you want, it'll still be amazing! Just my $0.02...

Breakfast all day...mmm. I had a spinach and feta omelet. You certainly get a lot for your money here. My omelet was huge. The potatoes, though, were cold. Toast was fine. The coffee was okay; just diner-type coffee. The chicken kabob sub was really good! it's kind of a dive, but when you're hungry and want a decent meal, the price is right.

I've been back and forth on this place. I started ordering from Cookin' 4 years ago when I lived in Allston, and as a college kid with fairly low standards, I found it pretty good. Then, as I got older, and broadened my restaurant horizons, I found that in the grand scheme of Boston eateries, this place isn't really all that great. For one thing their prices fluctuate. At first it was $7 for a decent-sized club sandwich and a generous portion of fries. Then for a while it was $9 for the same meal, except the portions got much smaller. Then they added a $1.50 delivery fee, on top of which the drivers expect to be tipped generously. I'm sorry but $12 for a sandwich is too much. But, I'll give them this, their prices have gone back down in recent months. Their delivery time is inconsistent as well. Some nights I've waited 20 minutes between placing the order and having it in hand. But at least half the time, I'm waiting an hour to 75 minutes for my food. Really? 75 minutes? I might understand if this only happened on Friday or Saturday nights, but I've experienced ridiculous waits on Wednesdays and Mondays. How long could it possibly take to make take-out? I give them 3 stars because their pizza is actually pretty good, and decently priced. They're also very nice when you call, and the majority of the delivery people are friendly. I have ordered breakfast from them, and was disappointed at how small the pancakes were, but I appreciate that they actually deliver breakfast (and pretty early in the morning too). Overall, I've definitely had better, but I've also had WAY worse.

I will never go back... I went for breakfast. The table was dirty, the syrup bottles were gross and sticky... and then came the food. My pancakes were black... like charred. Even the nasty syrup couldn't cover that up. The bacon was all fat, and not crispy at all. The bottle of Minute Maid OJ was OK, but they can't take credit for that. Now I understand, maybe you are busy, you forget someone's pancakes are on the grill, you look back, and they're ruined. A decent restaurant would scrap them, and start over. Cookin Cafe will give you these flat pieces of charcoal and hope you don't notice. It was gross.

I enjoyed my veggie omelet here. I liked the sort of "take out" feel, since it's a good way to have a slightly less expensive breakfast. I mean, it was fine, there was hot sauce, the potatoes were okay, they got my order right (it's kind of a big thing when you take your toast dry and your omelet sans fromage; you'd be surprised), and I'd try it again.

decent food, sometimes kinda slow, prices are fair. Certainly nothing wrong with the place. It's near where I work which is the main reason they get so much of my business. Their breakfast sandwiches are probably the highlight. If I didn't work at Packard's corner I likely would never be in there, but if you need a bite to eat you could do far worse

Soooo, I turned the big 30 a few days ago and have been wrestling with life and decisions and mortality. And, I wanted some frozen yogurt, amongst chocolate chip pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice. But, I need to keep my girlish figure. So, I drove my chariot, the '01 kia sephia down to the abyss of Comm Ave. The students clearly have disappeared, so parking was a breeze, got a spot right out front with a solid 10 minutes left on the meter. SCORE! I decided to treat myself to one item, since, let's face it, I'm 30, not 20, so can't eat like a 20 year old. I chose wisely and got a cracklin oat bran with cheesecake frozen yogurt and was charged $4.38, which is a hefty price to pay for frozen yogurt that tasted very plain with teeny crumbs of cracklin oat bran. I mean, I DROVE from my hizze in Lower Allston, mofo! I mean, have you SEEN or HEARD about the gas prices these days? Well, whatevs, I was cravin' this shizz and it didn't disappoint, consistency wise and I guess in regards to froyo, if you are looking for consistency and then taste maybe? So, I will award Cookin' Cafe the big 3 stars!

All I have to say is that we ordered a side salad with our meal, ranch dressing .... we got a mini-tub of *mayonnaise*. Enough said.

They deliver breakfast!! What's better than waking up hung over and having chocolate chip pancakes at your door? Nothing, that's what. Awesome pizza and subs, yummy breakfast.

Having a breakfast place that delivers in a town full of hungover college kids seems to be good in theory, but not in this case. Their breakfast is usually cold by the time they deliver. It's pretty bland and definitely not what I would describe as a morning pickmeup. Overall a last resort.

After reading all of these *excellent* breakfast reviews I was bummed to not be able to find a breakfast menu online. Finally I found it and I wanted to share: menupix.com/boston/resta… I'll be sure to try this place out soon... and when I do I'll be sure to edit this review with my findings!

I order breakfast from Cookin Cafe frequently. You can get the special [two buttermilk pancakes (so good!), bacon, 3 eggs, toast, and home fries] for 7 something dollars. Amazing. I can't speak for anything else so I 'm giving the Cafe 4 stars instead of 5.

I've never eaten here but I have gotten delivery many times. The salad quality varies from time to time but on the good days it is excellent and they have many different dressings to choose from. The curly fries are possibly the best I have ever had and they are somehow still hot and not soggy when they arrive (most delivered fries turn into mush!). They're open late and have enough of a variety that if you are ordering with a group everyone can find something they want; from wraps to pizza to breakfast ,they have it.

I don't know much about the rest of the food but they deliver and serve breakfast all day. Great for a hungover morning when you can't deal with getting off of the couch but really want breakfast.

alright. so heres the story. it was a tuesday afternoon and i was dying, i mean dying, for a nice juicy hamburger. i ask around at my job and someone suggests cookin. now, i've had coworkers order from there but i've never experienced their foods before. so i'm on my way out the door when i ask the security guard if he wants anything. he says no thanks. says he's already ordered but that he tried to order from cookin earlier and that the guy there was rude over the phone. i thought, "fcking lame." but, whatevs, i still want my burger. so i cross the most dangerous intersection in allston (lol) get to cookin. i walk in, doors are open, place is empty, whatever its like 12. i order my food and i'm waiting... and its like.. taking forever but im also starving so i'm sure i just waited like 9 minutes or something like that. i get my burger and fries. the fries were piping hot. amazing. i was so ecstatic but i couldnt eat it cause it was so hot. and then i get a bite of my hamburger... its dry.. and its overcooked.. if you ask me. its not juicy at all. i couldve made a better burger when i was 8, but whatever. it was cheap, it was near, and it was enough to get me fed.

I'm a big fan of Cookin' Cafe. I've been to the restaurant several times and I've gotten delivery even more times. I've never ever been disappointed with the quality of the food, and think it's one of the better places in the greater BU area. Their frozen yogurt is great and their portions are generous. Their marinated chicken is excellent and the subs come well filled. Ask for extra sauce if you order chicken fingers/wings/large salad, since they only give one small packet for a large order. One thing that I am consistently disappointed with, however, is the delivery. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've gotten delivery, they have forgotten at least one thing from my order 3 times!!! How does that happen? Shouldn't you have someone checking the orders before sending them out!? I'd rather the delivery take 5 minutes longer, but get it right! Furthermore, they're not very helpful when you call to "complain," they make you feel like it's your fault. With all that said, definitely order from them, the food is good, but check your order before your delivery guy leaves, I should have known to do that by now!

Cookin Cafe's breakfast is pretty solid, and is open all day. Thats all i ask for when it comes to breakfast, serve me at 3 pm!!! Though, I wish it had more of a diner atmosphere... oh well.

This was the first time I tried this place... but the steak sub I got was not as tasty as I had hoped. Plus, they brought me the wrong side. So. There. That's why they get a two.

This place is absolutly ridiculous. We ordered meat ravioli and discovered when it was delivered that it was cheese ravioli with meatballs on top? So we called and expected the problem to be fixed. They were rude, they would not refund our money, they would not give us what we had ordered, would not allow us to talk to a manager, and the employee would not tell us his name. The other things we ordered did not come as we had specified and the sandwiches had minimal meat and a half of a peice of tomato in it. Skimpy and rude!

Packard's Corner/Allston Village has a lot of mediocre sub/pizza shops, and a handful of good ones; Cookin Cafe and Grille, on the very corner, is one of the best. They do fairly good pizza, and *damn* good subs- it's hard to find much to say about places like this, but the interior is much nicer and their food is markedly better than their hole-in-the-wall competitors, without costing any more.
