Good for big group settings. Food is pretty good although it's nothing special.

The lunch combo (1/2 sandwich + soup + salad) is a great value and is delish!!

Great pasta and sangria! Service was quick and friendly. Would come back for another date night easily! :)

Bertucci's... it's a chain, you can't expect much. I'll say it up front. The best part of the dinner was the free bread and the seasoned olive oil they gave with it. My girlfriend and I came here for a late dinner at around 8-8:30 PM. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip for the appetizer and I got the shrimp scampi and she had the jambalaya fettuccine for the entrees. The spinach and artichoke dip was okay. They had entire chunks of artichoke which was interesting. The angle hair pasta of shrimp scampi was not cooked well and were all clumped into a single massive lump. This meant that the sauce wasn't even infused into most of the pasta. Very disappointing. The jambalaya was generally alright. Nothing to write home about. Overall, a pretty disappointing meal. Personally, I'd choose cheesecake factory over bertucci's.

We went there today for lunch. The service was so slow. Actually we waited for fifteen minutes to be seated. The food was good but not delicious. I don't recommend it ..

Nothing particularly bad about my experience here, and nothing particularly great either. The gluten free menu has the usual suspects that essentially belong on the normal menu minus a few ingredients. Salmon, cod, salad, an eggplant dish. No sign of GF pasta despite being told they had it by someone on the phone. The cod was good, not great, because it lacked any flavor. I know cod is naturally very bland, but some breadcrumbs or spices can go a long way. My lunch partners enjoyed their pizzas , which looked great.

Bertucci's is a standard chain and I've always felt it can be hit or miss at times but the one consistent thing I love is their pizza. Their sporkie pizza which is ricotta cheese and sausage is delicious. They also offer whole wheat dough which is great. They are known for their rolls which are delicious. The olive oil that is served with them is good too. Their appetizers are good to like the sampler and the fried mozzarella. From what I hear their entree's can be hit or miss at times but I tried one of their Salmon ones and really enjoyed it. They also have good customer service so if you have an issue, they will take care of you

Went to Bertucci's tonight with my friends and had a relatively good experience. Not my first time here, and I've also been to the Bertucci's near Children's Hospital so I know my way around the menu ;) Food: I got the Chicken Piccata - deliciouso. Three huge chicken cutlet. I only ate one because I was full from stuffing my face with their bread. Had a salad also - it was ok - just regular salady stuff. Got Tiramisu for dessert. I guess I don't like Tiramisu then. Never knew that. It was too sweet and too bitter at the same time. Frownysadness. My friends got: 1. the Alfredo, she wanted fried chicken with it. The waiter just said that he would "try" to get it for her. She was very happy when her plate had fried chicken! She commented that her dish was good and cheesy. 2. Two people got the Chicken Parm with the complementary sausage soup. They both said the soup was "good" but neither of them barely touch it. Chicken parm was yummy (I got a bite), nice tomato-y sauce. 3. Rigatoni Abruzzi - I've had it before, so good. I decided not to get it today because I've been tomato overloaded this week but it's one of my favorite dish here. The sausage is slightly spicy and oh so addicting. they also shared desserts: Chocolate cake and the Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie with Gelato. As chocolate lovers they all devour that cake in seconds. The Cookie was also a favorite. Although the Gelato just taste like regular ice cream. But ice cream is great in general. Service: It was kind of slow at times. That being said the server was nice and try to give us good service so I'm not complaining. However as bread enthusiast we were getting impatient that it took nearly 15-20minutes for us to get our bread on. Bonus points however, he split our complicated check for us. Cheers. Overall we had a good time eating good food :)

Bertucci's is one of my all time favorite places to eat. I've had great service at different locations, but this one has been consistently friendly and attentive. The rolls are to die for and the pizza here is amazing. Great atmosphere especially on game days.

FOOD Good Italian food for a cheap price. Menu is full of pasta, soups, salad, chicken and seafood. The pizza is definitely the best thing on the menu. I personally prefer the Verde, but in the end everything is good. I usually go for lunch they have a $7.99 lunch special that includes endless rolls and salad. The Margarita menucci is delicious! DRINKS The sangria is horrible but the margaritas are insanely strong. LOCATION great location right near the Kenmore T stop. For those heading to take baseball game bertuccis would be a great spot for a bite before or after the game.

I'm very satisfied with the experience my friends and I had here. The food was great and the atmosphere was very calming. However, I give the place four stars because our waitress wasn't exactly the lost friendly and engaging. She also forgot to ask us if we wanted a salad or soup with one of the entrees and ended up never getting one. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I was hoping to get at least some small talk every once in a while. Regardless, I'm definitely going to come back! Our party of four split two entrees and a small pizza and it was the perfect amount of food for all of us.

This is my second time going to Bertucci's. First time was good experience where I got the Margarita pizza - so good. This time, I got a Classic Bruschetta appetizer. My friends got their meals before I got my appetizer.... what? The server brought my appetizer and said sorry that it was not brought out earlier. The bruschetta looked like it had been sitting there for a while. The balsamic vinegar had soaked the bread and the bread tasted disgustingly sour. I thought it was suppose to be delightfully added onto the bruschetta.....not "lets make sure the bread is completely immersed in the oils." On top of that, the waitress didn't even ask us if we wanted to split the check. She split the check after we asked her but then accidentally switched my charge with my friend's charge. So I was waiting for her to come out by the register and I explained to her that it was switched. She had a rude tone with me and said "Just a second" and went to another table. I know it's frustrating and I didn't mind waiting but I don't think servers understand that choice of words can make a difference between a loyal customer vs. a customer who won't come back...ever. All in all, food is mediocre at best, service was horrible, and $$ is too expensive to pay for "okay" food and rude service. If I do ever come back (probably not), the only thing I really liked was the Margarita Pizza.

I love this place. The bread before the meal has always drawn me to Bertucci's, and I would go to any of their locations JUST for that. But there's a special charm to this location. It's one of the only places near Fenway that's not a bar or a fast food place. It's open later than most places. The staff are great and are willing to customize your order, and if you're really specific about spices, they'll take care of you. On top of that, I have never been over-bothered by wait staff while reading. That's awesome, as there's a bookstore two doors down, and it's really easy for me to read for a while, get hungry, come over and just keep reading through lunch and dinner. The pizza here is great. If you want something more manageable for one, try the small plates. The mushrooms here are THE BOMB. Then again, I love mushrooms in general, so I might be somewhat biased. ;)

Fun place to grab a bite after a game. Our waitress recommended the moscato sangria, which was delicious- we ordered a half pitcher. I got the lobster cobb salad, which was very good. Rolls were delicious as well. Convenient location and good food.

My whole family likes Bertucci's. Good Italian cooking at fair prices. This location is set up for big crowds coming through at Fenway or BU parents visiting, so if you go there at any other time, you'll get seated quickly. We use this to our advantage. :) It's the most convenient location for us, so as long as it's not a game day, (which we've never tried) it works great.

Though I had seen the mixed reviews, I tried this location of Bertucci's and found it to be quite good. My daughter and I had the $7.99 lunch combo which included salad, fresh bread and a lunch entree. I had the Sporkie Menucci and she had the Chicken Milanese focaccia. The pizza was quite tasty. The sauce was not bland or over-powering. The crust was nice and crispy having been baked in their brick oven. The toppings were a little sparse. The chicken on her sandwich was surprisingly crisp and the fresh arugula was perfect. She also had a cup of the sausage soup which was just so-so. There was too much risotto or rice (too mushy to tell the difference). We shared the chocolate chip sundae for dessert. Yum. Our waiter was not very attentive though he was friendly. He moved at his own pace and lacked the efficiency of a seasoned pro. He never once offered us drink refills when my glass was obviously empty for half the meal. Given the prices of other places and the fare NOT being burgers or subs, it was a tasty, economical lunch choice.

Can't remember why you don't like Bertuccis anymore? Come to Kenmore and you'll remember. Place was dead even though it was after a Sox game. Waiter was nice, but goofy, rolls underdone, salad anemic, and pizza greasy. Looking to get out of the city? Come on down to Bertuccis in Kenmore and you'll like your in the burbs circa 1995.

I went for a Meetup presentation on Empower Dalit Women of Nepal (EDWON). There were probably 20 of us, but it was early in the night so the rest of the restaurant was pretty much empty. Our waitress's name was Christin and I appreciated that she started off by telling us that she would ring us up on separate checks. I told Christin I was Vegan and would like to know what I could order that wouldn't make me sick. She offered to get me the gluten-free menu. I was trying to figure out how to say "That wouldn't help me" and I must've given her a look because she next offered to ask the manager. When Christin came back, she said that the Roasted Tuscan Veggies from the appetizer menu were fine and also any of the salads (although looking at the menu, they'd have to be made Vegan). I chose the appetizer. Meanwhile, I had posted on Facebook. One friend said she thought spaghetti was if you ordered it without cheese. One said "I have a friend who's a chef there and nearly everything has some sort of animal product. They also don't use separate cooking areas, etc..." Two thought the pizza with just sauce and veggies. Someone in Jersey said nothing. Another friend told me that at the Bertucci's by Alewife Station, the waitstaff can list the ingredients in the food. She also said that the rolls there are Vegan (Christin told me she thought they weren't Vegan and a friend told me that if you asked, they can make rolls without cheese). I don't understand why if Bertucci's can have a Gluten-Free menu, they can't have a Vegan one. Or better yet, just have one menu that marks everything. Oh, and a trained staff that actually knows what's in the food they're serving. That'd be helpful. I was hungry before the Meetup, which lasted an hour and a half. It took me over an hour to get home after that, but finally I was able to get something to eat.

Bertucci's, like any other chain restaurant, is hit or miss with their service and food quality. On a good day, you may get pretty good service and even better tasting food. This is the 3rd Bertucci's I've been to in the last couple of months. We sat and ordered within a few minutes. We ordered one app and one entree to share because we weren't too hungry and wanted to leave room for dessert. The food wasn't done and we waited nearly 40 minutes for it. When it finally came, both came out nearly at the same time, which was fine. Our waitress refilled our drinks and got us extra rolls as asked but never returned to check on the food. When we were ready to get our check she was no where to be found. Finally she came and we cashed out. She asked us if we wanted dessert but we were too afraid to order as that may set us back another 30 mins.. lol. NOTE: Do not go to restaurants such as these after 9pm, apparently they don't cook anymore or they just take forever to make a simple pasta dish. Onwards to food: App: Tuscan Roasted Vegetables 4.99. This was good. It was a mix of artichoke, eggplants, broccoli, zucchini. good portion size and good flavors. Entree: Shrimp Rossini Sautéed shrimp in a tomato cream sauce with capers and a hint of hot pepper, tossed with spaghetti. 15.99. Again, good size portion. Food tasted good but it was served on a cold plate.

Aweful customer service. We got extra garlic in our dishes because of we didnt want our food to be cooked with alcohol. I shouldn't have felt uncomfortable wnd unwelcomed because I want to eat my pasta a certian way. Never going there again

5 stars all around because ... ( I'll keep it short and precise) 1. Quick service / seating 2. Waiter was super nice and informative (wanted my dish to be really spicy and he accommodated my picky eating habits) 3. Food came out quick 4. The food was delicious 5. Come hungry because the portions are big 6. We literally sat there for 2 hours and he never rushed us 7. He refilled my drink every time i needed it to be without even hesitating and even before I noticed 8. Defffff going back since it's so close to BU campus Thanks Bertucci's came hungry and left more than satisfied ~

This bertucci was an excellent place to have dinner. The food was delicious most of the times I went there, and the food came faster than anticipated. The only downfall was that you were never quite greeted with a smile witch could be a problem in a restaurant.

Get the farmhouse salad with the dressing on the side. I made the mistake of thinking they would drizzle the dressing on my salad --- by instead it was drenched. The Tuscan chicken wings were actually good and spicy. If you like salty meatballs, then eat your heart out. My least favorite: the fried mozzarella. The mozzarella reminded me of government cheese (some of you may know what I'm talking about; for the rest of you, it's not a good thing).

  • Terry W.

The rolls are warmish. We didn't get our appetizer. They ran out of a house wine. The pizza okay but didn't taste brick oven. No wonder there are so few Bertucci's around.

  • Lindsay S.

I was excited they had a gluten-free menu until the first two attempts at ordering were met with "sorry we don't have that anymore" and then "we haven't updated our gluten-free menu in a long time." Not helpful. I tried the new salad with arugula shrimp and watermelon. It was good. The bartender was awful however. Not only did it take 15 minutes to get my sangria, but it tasted like super sugary fruit juice, had zero wine in it, and also lacked fruit slices. Since when can you call a drink sangria without wine or fruit slices? I definitely do not recommend. The only plus was the waitress who was nice and attentive and apologized about the mishaps.

I had to have lunch two days in a row at the Kenmore Bertucci's and being Gluten Free I was worried what they would have but on the second day I hit the jackpot and was surprised by how lovely it was as it sounded very boring - I had the roasted veg which were exceptional and the sausage soup - a perfect lunch! The menu sounded like they were struggling to do GF and were just offering sides but dont be fooled and order this whether you are GF or not. Pleasantly surprised and the staff were really nice too!

There are only two great things about this restaurant: the bread rolls and the moscato sangira. I advise getting both. As for the food, it will eliminate your hunger but it definitely won't be memorable. Nothing has stuck out to me the couple times I have been here. Honestly, couldn't tell you what I ordered. Service wise, your definitely safe in coming here, as in, the service is pretty good, fairly friendly, no complaints.

Came here after hearing some good reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Since this is close to BU, you'll find a good amount of college students enjoying a meal. At least that was the case with us. I ordered the sofia pizza - white pizza with mozzarella cheese, roasted artichoke spread, sausage and fresh thyme topped with shaved cheese - so good, but I thought they were skimpy on the meat. My friend ordered the chicken tortellini which she liked, but wasn't expecting better. The rolls were tasty especially with the olive oil. Service was ok, though our server didn't seem very knowledgeable with the menu. They do have some other promising items on the menu, so I'd come back.

Great memories of this chain. I remember when I was a kid they gave dough to kids for free to play with. We always brought the dough balls home and baked them to make some fantastic bread. Not sure if they still do that, but you should definitely ask. I wouldn't waste your time with anything other than the basic margarita pizza, but that's just me. Their mozzarella cheese and delicious sauce deserve all your attention.

I went here yesterday (Sunday) around 1 for some lunch and to catch some of the Pats game. Walked in to bar section and game was not on, understandable so I just asked them if they could change that to which he agreed, in the mean time I got a glass of wine and my boyfriend just had water. I see the bartender go over and try to get the channel to work, to no avail. He then disappears for awhile (literally at least 10 minutes), comes back and says "I cant really get the channel right now, im working on it, would you like some food?" uhm no I wasn't planning on staying to eat food if the game couldn't be put on. He said his manager was also trying....which was hard to believe considering we never saw anyone else come out to grab the remote and try to put something on?? That seemed very cowardly that the manager never even came to ask what was wrong or talk to me face to face. In the meantime he was switching to every channel but the LOCALLY broadcast patriots game. I asked for our check so we could leave and go somewhere else, to my surprise he charged us for soda, and a more expensive glass of wine then I had actually ordered!! Seriously?? We were in the MIDDLE of downtown Boston and you cant figure out how to get a NEW ENGLAND patriots game on the TV?? The nerve to then see he couldn't even charge us for the correct drinks was just icing on the top. Shame on you Bertuccis. We walked across the street and the place had about 20 TVs with the game on.

i made reservations tonight for 7:30, my group arrived at 7:31 and were told that the table was not ready and to wait for a table that did not become available until 7:50. The hostess seated a couple of similar sized parties before us too...what is the point of making a reservation? the food was mediocre and over-priced as well.

I have always enjoyed Bertucci's both in Back Bay and Harvard Square. So I had no hesitance assuming I would also enjoy the Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria in Kenmore. Our waitress was very cold, and seemed extremely unhappy with her job. Maybe my expectations are high when it comes to service, but I felt like she threw our plates in front of us- and then repeatedly asked us if we were okay. Yeah, we were okay? At one point, my boyfriend didn't even realize she was talking to us.. We ordered the bruschetta- nothing special, but of course the bread and olive oil were to die for. No need for an appetizer. My boyfriend ordered a salad- which came out looking extremely boring and dry, and I ordered the chicken parma- flavorless, soggy and I left half of it on my plate after trying to finish it several times. I was really disappointed- which is disheartening, because I've had such great experiences at the other locations. Word to the wise: make the extra trip out to back bay.

Bread is good, but not amazing. Service is ok, but could be better. Pizza is meh, quite disappointing. Been here twice and both times, my pizza craving was not satisfied. Its too greacy and lacks taste. Kinda like eating wonder-bread. Disappointing.

  • Ladyjane S.

Yeah, it's a chain, but they do damn well for a chain. Rolls perfectly warm and tasty, served with yummy dipping oil. The pizza, (ultimate bertucci) was just awesome. I tried a new sandwich on the menu and while I was shocked at the tiny size of the dish, I was blown away by the taste. It had grilled chicken, avocado, some kind of pesto, arugula, rolled up in a baked flatbread...it was amazing. It did come with a nasty pasta salad though, so that was the only disappointment. Service is about what you would expect. Sometimes quick, sometimes slooooow. But always friendly. I hate to love you, Bertucci's. But love you, I do.

The food was good; I could tell that the pizza was homemade because of the fresh tomato sauce. However, I did feel as if everything was a bit oily, and the also a bit pricey. Pasta, a small side salad, a personal pizza, and two beers totalled over $40...but hey, it's near Fenway in downtown boston, so I can't expect anything else. A manager stopped by to check in on us, which was nice. And the food and service were quick. I think everything was good; it's just not my favorite since it was pricey and a oily.

I come there often, and while taste wise, it's absolutely NO different from any other Burtuccis in this country, I have a reason for reviewing at this particular location. When I was a teacher, I'd bring my classes there (more than 10 people) and they were ALWAYS accommodating. They took very good care of us. Always polite. I taught students whose first language was not English and they were very patient. Once I made a reservation for 17 people (yeah, 17) and how many people came? 22 (yes, I'm a KICK ASS teacher. Everyone loves me). Usually the opposite happens- I reserve for 17 and 10 come. I panicked, but they were really nice about it! We didn't even have to wait much longer! So treat those servers well!!!! If you're weird and have NEVER been to Bertucci's before, pretty much everything is good. The rolls are the BEST. THE BEST. I love, LOVE the Tuscan chicken wings. All the pizzas I've had have been great. The salads are even great. Sometimes I get the appetizer sampler and that's even great. The only pasta dish i personally don't like is the tri-colored tortellini, but that's because I'm picky not because the quality is bad. I don't eat seafood so I can't tell you anything about those dishes. Sign up for the email club and get good deals. Yep.

Avoid at all costs during weekday lunches. Nice enough to accommodate our special salad request but orders are consistently messed up (not bringing the correct order; really, really long waits for extremely simple items) and I've felt pretty ill after the last two visits. Staff offers their apologies but with so many other options around, they ought to just stop apologizing and try to get their act together. Sheesh.

OK, OK, so it's Bertucci's, so obviously you already know that it's a chain. And if you haven't yet tried it, someone you know has. However, sometimes even the most successful chain restaurants have their individual venue downfalls. This Bertucci's is not one of those. In fact, it's one of the cleanest and "quick on service, but not quick on quality" ones I've ever been to, and admittedly, this girl has been to quite a few of 'em in my day! What you'll find at any Bertucci's: great rolls (they're addicting), unlimited salad, inexpensive lunch specials with all sorts of choices from lasagna to panini sandwiches to pizza, and all around good food. What you'll find at this Bertucci's: the aforementioned great service, quick turnaround, hardly ever a line (even though it's in the middle of a college town and a busy area), and a friendly vibe. If you're in the market for Italian food and would prefer not to do the authentic thing, I highly suggest any Bertucci's, but especially this one. Tip: go to this location during (or before and after) Red Sox games. The standards will all be crowded and this is not that far of a walk from Fenway. Most people forget about it when deciding where to imbibe for the games, so it can usually be a great untapped resource and a reasonably great alternative to the long lines and crowds!

I admit it. I used to live across the street and ate at this Bertucci's all the time. There is one reason to eat at Bertucci's and it is not for their brick oven pizza. It's the rolls. The rolls are fantastic. Always comes out fresh, hot and oh so soft on the inside. Pair it with some olive oil, parmesean and pepper, and I'm a happy girl. My usual was the rolls with a classic caesar salad. The only pasta dish I liked was the one with lobster can't remember the name of it. The dessert trio was pretty good too... love that raspberry sauce. For casual dining in the area, Bertucci's is not bad. I heard their Harvard Square location is better.

4 words. Don't waste your money. Calling this place Italian is truly an insult to Italy. Overpriced Sysco like food.

The two stars are only for our waiter who was really friendly and helpful and attentive. I forgot how much I hate Bertucci's. I'm really not a fan of Italian food to begin with (gasp I know what a tragedy), and Bertucci's is no exception. I went though, and had the penne something or other dish. Basically it was bland and it was like Bertolli pasta with some shit sauce that I could've made at home and here I am paying $12 for it (well I didn't pay but .. yeah) The bread with the oil is pretty sweet, yeah but doesn't make up for the feeling of wanting to vomit everywhere after eating their food. ugh. UGH.

You can't go wrong at Bertucci's. Pizza is always solid and generally better than many places. They have generous entrees that satisfy, and they are currently upgrading many of the restaurants. Nothing is ever over-the-top-amazing, but it's just very good. And who can argue with the consistently tasty dinner rolls? Here's a tip for a quick, cheap eat on the go: Order the kids cheese pizza to go. It's the same size as the "adult/individual pizza", but it's $5 rather than $11. I'd much rather spend $5 at Bertucci's when in a rush rather than fast food!

I used to eat here a good amount in college and went back recently for lunch. I don't think anyone would deny that Bertucci's has some great rolls, and for my brother the rolls are reason enough to keep coming back! We started off with the Roasted Artichoke Fonduta, which was a good size, but the cheese flavor was a little too strong for me. I had the Chicken Parma lunch special which is a good size, though I wasn't impressed with the sauce on the pasta (a little plain for my taste). My brother had the Bello Italiano sandwich (Portobello mushroom with mozzarella and basil), which was amazing. The pasta salad it came with was pretty good, too. Our waiter was very attentive, and overall, it was a good experience at a reliable chain.

Since I have been at BU a few years I have been here at least ten or so times. First off the rolls here are amazing and free and they bring a really great seasoned olive oil to dip in. Only one time have the rolls ever been cold and it was a very off-peak time. When we told the server, she graciously agreed to give us more rolls whenever the next batch came out of the oven. If you come here for lunch they also give you a free salad- basic but fresh. PS if you order take-away they still give you the salad and rolls. To save money consider splitting a personal pizza with a friend, its not a ton but with the other things it's enough, portion controlled and only 5 bucks per person! As for what to order, I would say definitely pizza. I absolutely love their Napoleana style Margeritta pizza- tons of sauce, and just a bit of really fresh mozzarella, just the way I like it. If you are a cheese lover you should probably get the original kind that comes with a cute little olive. The prices aren't super cheap, but the pizza is reliably good. Not the best pizza in the world, but better than other places. Out of their dessert's I'd recommend the Bomba its vanilla and chocolate gelato with a chocolate shell, cherries, and almonds. It's so yummy. One thing I don't like about Bertcuccis as a chain is they give no Nutritional Info...sorta makes you wonder about the calories. Others here have commented about poor service- I have never had a problem with waits or anything, and once even had a water drinking contest with a friend because they kept refilling our water glasses so much.

I'm inclined to give this Bertucci's 3.5 stars. I like the food well enough to give it 4 stars, but Bertucci's doesn't do enough for me to feel justified in awarding it 4 stars, so 3.5 it is. The food is good, though it's typical chain Italian food. The best thing about Bertucci's is their rolls, which seems to be their "thing" since they even had a billboard about it not too long ago. (Although if you get takeout, you get rolls and no dipping sauce. Another reason they get a 3.5) Their sausage soup is really good, though I don't know why they float a giant blob of cheese in the center of it- it's quite unappealing. Another bonus about Bertucci's is that, if you get the dinners with soup (like my recent delicious Chicken Parma dinner,) the servings are large enough to have leftovers for a second night. Suddenly, you don't feel ripped off paying $15 for chain Italian, you feel like you got the world's greatest bargain. The service there isn't great, I've definitely been rushed out of there by servers when it's not that crowded, and I know I'm not the only one of my friends with this complaint. I'd recommend staying far, far away from this place (like everywhere else in Kenmore Square) on game days, since it turns into a zoo.

My default pick for comfort food. Rolls are totally cravable and their balsamic vinaigrette is very nice. I almost always get the cheese ravioli, but I like their pizza as well. Service is quick if not super friendly all the time. I'd rather get my drinks/food fast than make friends with the server!

I have just finished eating leftover ravioli from my visit to Bertucci's in Kenmore Square last night, and suddenly I am feeling inspired enough to write a review about how much I love it. Dearest Bertucci's, where would I be without you? So, the Kenmore location doesn't have the greatest service, but I have been there enough where I've had good waiters and bad, just like any other place. I'll say that much. Sometimes they are on their game, other times I feel like I'm being rushed out. Regardless, I love going there, if only for the bread and oil. I like the set up of this Bertucci's, and I enjoy their bathrooms. The food is always consistent, and it's always just what I want. I go to Bertucci's for very specific things, like their four cheese ravioli. It's delicious, it hits the spot and it leaves me feeling warm and only slightly bloated. Minus one star for inconsistent service, but definitely one of my favorite places to eat on a whim.

I think Bertucci's is a great chain. Always great food. But the service here sucks! Our waitress was sighing heavily like she was stressed out which was interesting considering she only had two tables (ours included). My friends wanted their salads before their meal. They came with their meal. We were in the middle of our entrees when our waitress comes over and asks if we want dessert. Ummm can we finish? We tell her no thanks and she drops our bill on the table. Maybe we would have ordered dessert if we weren't being rushed so much. Seriously! This girl had no reason to act all stressed and rushed! The restaurant wasn't busy at all (no wait, tons of empty tables) and she only had two of them! Overall, good chain. But this one has shitty service. Avoid.

I went Harvard one, too but compare with that (I actually ordered same things) , the bread was warmer then tastes better. Pizza seems like no different but the chicken on the salad is better in Harvard. Even though this is chain restaurant the tastes are a little bit different. Then I realized that they cooked! I like chicken caprese salad from seasonal menu.

Bertucci's in general is a very solid choice as far as chains go. Went here on Wednesday January 7, 2009 with Sanjay (see my Barnes & Noble / Starbucks review). It was a rainy dreary day, around 2 o'clock. Too late for a lunch rush, too early for dinner or drinks. It was dead. I asked for green peppers instead of cheese on my salad. "yeah, but it might cost extra." Extra? I'm taking the most expensive ingredient out and replacing it with something that practically grows on my brick walls. I expressed my consternation to the waitress, who I believe was nervous as all hell to have a slightly perturbed customer during the slow hours of her shift. So, as to allay her fears a wee bit, I said, "alright, well hold the cheese, but if the peppers are extra, leave those off too. Lo and behold, no green peppers. Big dining room, plenty of space to kick it with Sanjay and catch up on old times. I took our 2 appetizer/bread plates and placed them over my pectoral muscles, much to the amusement of my friend. I did this just as the manager was walking by our table. Later on, right before we left, he came to check in and ask how our lunch was. We replied good, great, grand, or wonderful - I can't remember which. After some small talk, he remarked that he saw what I did with the plates before, and had trouble not laughing. This interaction with the manager pretty much saved our visit - he made sure things was dopasetic after a shaky start, and enjoyed my feigned plate knockers.

The best thing about bertucci's is the rolls. The pizza is good also but the salads they give you always seem wilted and never fresh. ( he free salad they give you) The actual entree salads are not bad.I would say since its a plizza place just order pizza.

I live right around the corner from Bertucci's, so when I crave Italian food, it's where I go. Each time I end up there, however, I make myself promise that I'll never go back. Many people rave about the bread and olive oil. The bread is warm, I'll give it that, but it's nothing special. The pizza is acceptable. The ravioli? Tastes like Chef Boyardee. The caesar salad? Includes iceberg lettuce. I tried the Fettucine Isabella with half insalata, and they forgot the insalata. The service is nothing spectacular. I'm better off in the Boston University dining hall. SERIOUSLY.

I've been to other branches, but I really prefer this one. The atmosphere, service and food taste better. I would recommend going to this branch for a decent Italian meal! The servers are really friendly, polite and speedy!

I hate Bertucci's. I want butter for my bread, I'm sorry if I don't like your oil. Pizza crust is bleh, waiter I had was a pretentious doof. My friends always ask me, Want to go to Bertucci's?? with knowing grins as they know I will be outraged. The only good thing about this place is it takes some Sox fans off the street after games making it easier for me to walk home.

I used to live just a block away from this Bertuccis when I went to BU, and I always loved getting their salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The staff is always very nice and helpful, and the food is also good. The scary thing is when the red sox are playing, being so close to Fenway can be scary when you forget there is a game going and you want to grab some food especially when you get tired of Dining Hall food.

Rolls. You all know what I'm talking about. Although I am a little sad that they started serving it with oil instead of butter (fat kid) :( Cut to me inhaling 4 rolls. I stopped in here for dinner the other night with a friend. It was busy but we were seated right away. Our waiter was quick with the rolls and I loved him for it. We ordered the Polpette appetizer which consisted of four large meatballs topped with red sauce and grated Romano cheese. The serving size was great for 2 people. For dinner I chose the tomato and mozzarella caprese salad. It was a pretty large salad of baby field greens topped with grape tomatoes and little balls of fresh mozzarella. It came dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette but also a drizzle of some other balsamic something or other that was sweet that made the salad a little more interesting. Bertucci's is the kind of place that I've never had a bad food experience. And that's why I come back.

I'll allow for lower quality of service on the east coast but this was unacceptable. Food was very mediocre and would be surprised if this standard would endure in other parts of the country. Good luck.

The rolls are the only things here that deserve positive ratings. The olive oil is tasty too, so long as you dump a few tablespoons of cheese into it, and douse with red pepper flakes. Of course, I did that, not Bertuccis, so I get 3 stars. The soup I ordered sucked. It tasted like dirty water with chunks of stringy veggies. The salad I ordered was smothered in some sort of dressing that strangely had NO flavor. The meatball and linguine dish my husband ordered tasted like it came from Sesame Street and was made of Play-doh. The waitress had a perma-frown, was nasty towards us, and never said "Thank you" or "you're welcome". The only time she spoke to us, other than the obligatory "What did you decide on?" was "Can I get you anything else?" after we had left our empty drinks at the edge of the table for the entire meal -- Just in case she pulled her head out of her ass and walked over to our table. We only had $40, and our bill came to $33.60-ish. Hubby had to drag me out, because I wanted to leave 10%, and he refused to wait for change. Slop slop slop. This place bites.

I really wanted to give Bertucci's a 4 star... I really, really did because, but because I believe that food should pretty much be 99% of the determining factor. Well I just could not. The food is decent-good, but the price really makes it less bang for your buck. Went here with a friend for the Celtics-Lakers Game 7, and Bertucci's turned out to be a great place to watch the game.... Very low key and unassuming, just decent food and a not-overly rambunctious crowd. We had a blood orange margarita (a little disappointing due to the lack of enough juice), which was better however than the Mamma Mia margarita. We started with the house bread and olive oil, then ordered focaccia which we both agreed was excellent. Then I ordered spaghetti bolognese and my friend had fusilli with sausage and green peppers. He was pretty happy with his food, and I was absolutely shocked with how much pasta was on my plate. The food itself was ok, the pasta was indeed special, but the sauce was a little scarce and "dry" as if the pasta had been rolled around in tomato sauce but not really cooked with it. Desert consisted of some decent gelatto (not great, although the presentation was interesting), and chocolate cake. Frankly most of what we had was average, and when the bill is almost $100 the quality of the food should be much better.

If it's UNO's across Kenmore Sq or Bertucci's, I'd rather have Bertucci's ANY DAY. I don't understand people who makes faces when I mention Bertucci's... The pastas and pizzas are all great, and I've really yet to be disappointed. My favorite items thus far are the Pizza Shrimp Bella Venezia (the only sauce-less pizza in the world that I like) and Shrimp Rossini Pasta. This location mostly employs college kids, so sometimes the service is a little slow or distracted. Make sure to let yourself be heard, lest you get neglected and unhappy.

From the first time I walked in, I knew I was going into a 'we're oh-so-Italian' restaurant. Not so much. Once you get over that, the food is actually pretty good. Needless to say, the rolls are tasty but thats sort of a requirement for an Italian eatery so lets not get hyped up on that. Onto the food... I love love love the Sausage Soup. It is so very tasty it makes me want to eat two bowls of just that. Perfection. I haven't tried their pizzas but I did think the Rigatoni, Broccoli & Chicken with white wine sauce and the Linguine Primavera are pretty good. I am not a fan of their salads though, mainly because they're nothing great. You'd rather eat that at home. If you're going out here you're better off trying their pastas and pizzas. I have yet to have a bad experience here. Its reasonably priced too.

I absolutely love this Bertucci's. I always have wonderful service here, and the food is absolutely delicious. I've been going here since it opened and rarely do I get the pizza. There is just so many good items on the menu! The only problem i've ever found is they don't give younger kids the bread dough to play with. I've heard they do this at other Bertucci's, as well as sell their dough so customers can bake their rolls at home.

Bertucci's may be a chain but amazingly it is one of the only US pizzerias offering true Neapolitan Pizza that has been officially certified by the Associazione vera pizza napoletana of Naples, Italy! Isn't that painful to know? Bertucci's?! The chain?! Well, credit to Bertucci's then for going to the lengths required to meet these standards set down by the true geniuses of pizza - the Neapolitans. After all, it was the Naples folk who took the ancient Greeks' flat-bread with herbs and cheese pizzas and started adding the exotic new fruit ' the tomato' back in the 1700s. Suddenly pizza was THE thing and the world's first and oldest pizzeria still stands there now and is nearing 200 years-old. So what ARE the standards of 'The Associazione'? Apparently.. "the pizza must be baked in a wood-fired, domed oven at 485C for no more than 60 to 90 seconds; the base must be hand-kneaded and must not be rolled with a pin or prepared by any mechanical means and the pizza must not exceed 35 cm in diameter or be more than a third of a cm thick at the centre." They also only recognise marinara and margherita as acceptable pizzas. So I don't know where Bertucci's gets off serving that chicken, cheese and broccoli thing! And it does pain me to say it but the Bertucci's pizzas, especially the certified ones, are actually pretty good. Not amazing but good enough (head to Regina's for their Napoletana if you want amazing). I've only had take-out pizza so far so I can only comment on that and the lovely bread buns, but I think it's worth spreading the word that this otherwise typically sterile chain actually has gone to impressive lengths to make real certified good Italian pizzas as well as some more exotic ones and at reasonable prices. It's just not the same as actually being in Italy, though is it? Sigh.

Bertucci's is somewhat of a hit-or-miss restaurant. The pastas are pretty average, and some of the pizzas aren't fantastic either. But when Bertucci's hits, it hits HARD. The margherita pizza is probably the best non-traditional pizza in Boston. I say "non-traditional" because it is not traditional Italian, but really more of an american gourmet pizza. Usually I prefer my pizza to be more authentic, but the Bertucci's margherita pizza makes you glad that america puts its own spin on pizza. The sauce is delicious, the cheese is very fresh and the crust is perfection. I've also had the chicken and rosemary ham calzone and it's pretty damn good. The paninis are good too. Oh, and while you are waiting for your meal, you will have a tough time preventing yourself from filling on the rolls...because they are to die for. The atmosphere is the same at every Bertucci's...pretty much a standard Italian-looking decor. Service is generally very good as well. If you order the right items, I promise that you won't be disappointed.

This place is your typical chain Bertucci's. The food is consistent & always satisfies my craving for garlic-y oil to dip hot pizza bread in. That said, the service here is usually lacking. I hate HATE when I get to the bottom of my glass & have to wait for it to be refilled so I can continue to eat because I'm so parched. So, last time we were there, we ordered a pitcher of soda so the waitress wouldn't have to keep returning... & we were charged extra. & here I was thinking it would make her life easier. I will still continue to go here (as it is the place the co-workers crave)... but the service is poopy.

Chain restaurants always have their ups and downs because they have to cook up a set menu from local ingredients and talent, but the last time I was there they had some truly delightful pasta/casserole which was the perfect mix between creamy and texture- it's hard to describe. I think it was some lobstah thing- their ravioli isn't too bad. Service was refreshingly sweet (maybe because I was on an awkward date around Valentine's Day- i should not bring that up!) and the waitress was very cordial and helpful. Space and atmosphere was very comfortable/cozy. I guess it was a great place for a date? :-)

I love Bertucci's. You have to respect it for what it is. A very tasty chain restaurant with great prices. The rolls are delicious. My friends and I frequently crave them and have to hit up Bertucci's for a "fix". I have never been too impressed with their entrees, but their pizzas are great, and such a good deal. They also frequently have coupons in the paper and in student coupon books. A friend of mine and I used to pride ourselves on getting a complete meal here for $10 a person. Their regular prices are totally reasonable and with coupons even better. I am not real into their desserts. Don't bother. But for delicious rolls and pizza you can not go wrong. Awesome place to come have a beer and load up on carbs. Also the service in this location is good and it seems a bit quieter than the one in Fanueil Hall (except during Sox games).

Ahh Bertucci's. This is the essence of great Italian/American food. They offer generous helpings of pasta, some awesome bread with olive oil and seasoning, and a delicious chicken parmigiana that stands out from the rest. Also, I'm a huge fan of their rigatoni, broccoli, and chicken dish. While the menu offers a ton of your old favorites, they can most likely be found elsewhere for less. However, one thing Bertucci's offers that your run of the mill pizzeria may not is their seasonal menu. Choose from salads, steaks, fillet minion, chicken, and fish, something for everyone. All in all, this is a great place to eat if you're not ready to spend the bigger bucks associated with some of Fenway's higher priced digs, such as Cask N' Flagon, Beerworks, etc.

  • Matt D.

Bertucci's just an all-around mediocre place. You can't really expect anything mind-blowing from a chain restaurant. The pizza is good, rolls are good, and from what I've been told by friends, the other entrees are decent as well (I typically only go there for pizza). In comparison to other Bertucci's locations, the atmosphere here is much nicer than the one downtown near Quincy Market. Think California Pizza kitchen, but less pricey and sort of psuedo-Italian feeling. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date of any sort. For big parties, social gatherings, and casual dinners, you probably won't be disappointed.

I just dont care for pizza but my bf loves theirs so I guess its good since he ate 3/4 of the napolitian in one sitting. I liked the antipasto plate of different grilled veggies and stuffed face with their awesome dinner rolls.

I come here for lunch when I'm really feeling like a MEAL. Fresh rolls, salad, a panini sandwich and some pasta salad on the side will definitely fill you up somethin' good for under ten bucks. That said, I've seen a lot of variation here. I can order the same sandwich and have it taste great one day and burnt and tasteless another. I'd recommend the sausage panini on caramelized onion bread. But be wary of the chicken milanese, the menu calls it "sauteed", but it comes out more like "chicken fried". The rigatoni abruzzi was also kind of small and disappointing. You know what? Just stick with the sausage panini on this one.

Service is poor more often than not, but when you get a good server, it's really good. The rolls and food are always good though, so it's sometimes best to get take-out.

deceptive staff; made patently false claims just to make a buck. i went in for take-out, asked if it was possible to get anything inside of ten minutes, and was told repeatedly that it would take "two minutes, five minutes maximum" to order a salad and spaghetti. they immediately took my order, had me pay, and proceeded to make me wait forty minutes for my order. after the initial ten minutes, i asked for a refund, and they said that the order was coming out "any second," and they actually kept this up for another half an hour while i had relatives waiting outside my apartment in the rain. we really don't need this kind of establishment in the neighborhood.

"I'm glad we went to Bertucci's. Now we never have to go again." Quoting the boyfriend there, but my sentiment exactly. Everything in restaurant covered with thin layer of grease. Gooey menus. Rolls are big and doughy and hot (and slightly raw? naah, just gooey, like menus) and olive oil dip is made from some seriously olivey oil - too strong - but whatever, it's a chain and it's nice that they do this at all. Salads are sad, sad affairs and I'm a fool for ordering one. Calzone made from same big doughy gooey bread - boyfriend liked filling but bread scared him. Margherita pizza would have been nice except...well, it was thin, but I suspect the dough was just another incarnation of aforementioned scary bread. And the sauce used for both pizza and calzone tasted like sugar and uncooked tomatoes. Eww. I admit it's rare that I like a chain, but I am annoyed because the pizza LOOKS like it will be really good(thin crust, nice colors, yay!), but isn't. At all. I ate some crust, stopped, ate some sauce, quit that, and decided to just eat the few pieces of cheese which were ok. I like my pizza with no trickery, thank you.

Bertucci's is a great addition to the Kenmore/Fenway area. You get good food at good prices, and it's a welcome change from the bar food (Uno's, Beerworks) or gourmet (Eastern Standard) options. It's a yummy, happy medium.

  • Anuj S.

First of all, the only reason this place is getting 2 Stars is because of the bread and oil. Aside from that, this Bertucci's location is terrible. I lived in the area for sometime and I'd say about half the time I went there, there was some issue with the food. I generally will eat anything, but my last straw was getting an uncooked pizza put in front of me. The middle was still cold! If I were you, I'd go to another Bertucci's location (either Back Bay or Harvard Sq locations are fine). Generally, the food at Bertucci's is like any other "American" Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy, but nothing to write home about.

First off.. my review is based solely on three things: 1. the rolls, 2. the salad, 3. the margherita pizza. But oh how I love those three things! I guess thats why I gave Bertucci's three stars (also because I cannot sincerely give it all five stars without having purchased anything else on the menu! and the service varies but is usually about average) But, the ROLLS are FANTASTIC, the INSALATA is DELICIOUS, and the MARGHERITA is GREAT! My only complaint is that in the last year or so the price of the pizza has dramatically increased. So be wise and go during lunch when the rolls as well as the insalata are complimentary and buy a large pizza to share with family/friends. I have frequented Bertucci's for a number of years because these three things are exactly what I am looking for. Thanks Bertucci's!! I

Dinner rolls are delicious. Sat down at the bar to wait for a table and got food faster there than I could have waiting for a table. This was on a Friday night at 7:45pm, so it was a pretty big line at the time. Ended up knowing the bartender indirectly and had a great time chatting it up with them and the other guests nearby. Fun experience and not what we had planned for on a normal dinner at Bertucci's but a good time anyway :)

My favorite pizza (thick and chunky tomato sauce)!! Yummy, doughy-centered, free rolls. The only downside is the boring, bland salads.

Although it doesn't top specialty pizza places such as Fig's, Bertucci's is definitely one of the best pizza places to go to in Boston. All of their brick oven pizza tastes excetionally good.

  • Steve S.

Quality food in an upscale restaurant, but you'll have to pay for it. The portions are hearty and the tastes are rich, so Bertucci's is anything but a typical chain pizza place. The free rolls are served warm and doughy; it's hard not to fill up on just these. Expect an older, calmer crowd than most other places withing walking distance of Fenway.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
