Even though it's out of the way, we had a great experience and I'll be back! I started with a cup of the soup d'jour, a creamy carrot soup made with almonds and a giant cup of white peony tea off the extensive tea menu. Both were fantastic. Shared the OG Sliders as an appetizer as well. Tasty! Got a half 'pepperoni pizza' for my meal, which was different in a good way. My boyfriend got the special entre which was a 'reuben' made with 'grilled' zucchini. It came with homemade pickles and kale chips and was really yummy. For dessert, we got a slice of the lemon meringue. It was so good. I really recommend saving room for dessert! We ordered a lot becauce prices are reasonable and we had a $50 Groupon to use. Total was like $60 for all that healthy food. Oh, and we both felt super energized on Monday! We normally eat vegetarian, but tend to consume dairy and cooked food every day, so this was a welcomed change. Go with an open mind, an empty belly, and be prepared to try something different!

For my first experience of this type of cuisine, I was very disappointed. Menu items were overpriced for mediocre flavor. They are creative with their dishes, but they sure don't want to serve their customers on a timely basis.

I have to say, my two stars are strictly for the service and the experience. The food was good. It took over 45 minutes for a cucumber/avocado roll and a california roll to come out. We timed it. The restaurant was full by the time we had ordered and I understand they were busy, but it seems like there were a lot of people in the back and not much food coming out. When the food finally came it was good, as good as a roll could be I suppose. I also got the Turkish Delight for dessert - yummy! My next complaint. I get that this is a really small place without a waiting room, but my boyfriend and I were surrounded by folks hovering to get a table. I'm trying to eat my dinner, move my head, and get elbowed by another patron waiting for us to finish so they can grab our table. I just felt like I waited so long and didn 't really get to enjoy it because of all the people hovering. They also did a Groupon recently, so I wonder if that was what all the rush was about? I would go back, for take out or on a quiet afternoon, but not for dinner when I'm surrounded by people hovering over me and my meal...especially since it's warmer now, I think it's completely ok to ask folks to wait outside until a table is available...

If you are vegeterian, vegan or raw - this is the place for you! I wish there were more places like this. If you are jucing or on a purification diet - they are fantastic. I am a little attached to the "thimbles" - you will just have to find out.

This is the only truely Vegan restaurant around. If you are a vegan it is good and worth the trip. I recommend the platter style meals. These are big and great to share with a date. Get two yummy veggies juices and it is a healthy vegan date.

Went here again on Wednesday for dinner. It was a hot summer day in the upper 90's. My friend (i brought another friend who hadn't been there before) was very excited about the food after hearing me talking about it several times. We walked in, picked a table and waited. No service.. So we ordered up front and paid. When we asked for water, the woman behind the counter told us there was water in the small tin servers and to serve ourselves. So we grabbed 2 cups and drank the water which was warm. Our food was great which is ALWAYS the case. After a few minutes of sitting at our table we noticed other customers getting table service and cold glass bottles of water.. I dont understand what customer service means to the employees at this restaurant but it's really frustrating because I love the food so much. It's like they are oblivious to their surroundings and paying customers. I dont expect 5 star service in such a small local laid back restaurant but I do expect some sort of service. Regardless, after a while of being there we both were feeling pretty sick from the temperature in the actual restaurant, the doors aren't very secure so it lets alot of the heat in. I know Ill be back for the food, but, will have to prepare for the weird and bad service :(

It's all about the Black Forest Pie. There's no way I could say enough about how amazing this item is... just try it. Yeah, I know it's expensive. Trust me, it doesn't matter. JUST EAT IT!

Very different food for me, but it was very good. Service was Par. Little pricey, but understandable.Definitely glad I tried it. Would return.

I love this place! I love the concept! I love its uniqueness! I love the food, drink and dessert. I love the atmosphere! The server was friendly and helpful, and they have a lending library. Go and support this establishment so they won't go out of business and put in ANOTHER sub or pizza shop.

They are so sweet in there, we went and we were so hungry. We started the kale chips and we wanted more could have eaten buckets. The patrons were so nice too helped us order, my guest and I were so hungry we ordered a lot and made notice that not everyone was finishing their organic bowls, we thought how can they not finish. Then when we were completing our bowl we started getting stomach aches, it wasn't the cafe I think we just not use to eating a lot of real raw food. We well go again I think.

I have wanted to try this place for 2 years and finally ended up getting my roommate to grab me some takeout on her way home over the weekend. Unfortunately I was not very impressed. I hoped for greatness, it was just OK, something about the mixtures of tastes did not go together. I would try it again, possibly, but for now, based on the 4 things I tried, I have to give it a 2. I am bummed, I was really excited to finally try this place. Update 8/31/07: I feel as though I should apologize to the organic garden lovers of the world. After my experience there the other day I really need to drop my rating. I came here with a friend, it was my first time in the actual restaurant (someone picked up for me last time). We ordered food to go. I must say, this time I was also really disappointed- but for very different reasons from last time. We ordered our food then waited. I watched as 5 of more people scurried around the kitchen area preparing food- none of them wore gloves. The woman who had just rung me up was pushing wheat grass into the juicer over and over again (some guys waiting at the counter had ordered double shots of wheat grass). They looked HORRIFIED and kept looking at me with this look that said 'do you see what we see?!' - i am pretty sure I heard one whisper 'unsanitary' to the other. They were right. It was. So I stood there with these two guys watching in awe as another woman stuck her ungloved fingers into the juicer to mush around the wheat grass and while others put deserts on plates - no one w/ gloves. Luckily I could not see into the half of the back room where my wrap was being prepared because if I saw that that guy had no gloves on either (which I doubt he did) I would have been really grossed out. The chai shake was great, the pate wrap was ok (could never even imagine eating more than a 1/2 of one though- the pate was very rich) but i felt queasy eating it due to what I had seen in the kitchen. the falafel was not so great (my friend got a side order - one falafel and felt sick after eating it and for the remainder of the day). Honestly, the food was better than last time, but after actually going into this place and seeing that they are clearly breaking health codes (especially since they serve RAW foods so there is no heat to create a barrier between the bacteria that is looming on their hands and my food) despite a sign on the kitchen wall stating that they should wear gloves- I can not see myself going back unless something changes.... I have a feeling the 'double shots of wheat grass' guys feel the same.

We went here after reading the reviews from yelp. We did not enjoy the food at all. Not sure how other people liked it so much. Sorry to say but we will not return here again !

I love the organic garden even though I'm not a vegetarian! The food is always so delicious and original. Whatever cuisine you are craving, they will satisfy you. I particularly like the kale chips, chèvre pate and any of the bowls. The prices are fare, the waitstaff is very friendly and helpful with recommendations. In the summer there is extra seating on the sidewalk which helps since the cafe is so tiny. Lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed.

so i finally made my way out to beverly, ma to find this jem which several of my friends have been raving about forever. i ordered the squash ravioli and my buddy ordered the thai dumpling and teriyaki stir fry. the portion of my ravioli dish was really small so we ordered a half size portion of the margherita pizza (the most popular pizza there) to share just in case we were still starving after our meals. i was surprisingly stuffed after i devoured my ravioli, but i guess i shouldn't have been. most of the dishes are made up of nuts and/or grains, so they're very dense. my meal had about 8 beet "raviolis", but it sat on a very creamy cashew sauce. i did end up eating 2 slices of the pizza as well. yep...portion control just isn't my thing. the food wasn't amazing, but it was pretty tasty. it definitely wasn't as bland as i thought it would be, but it certainly needed some asian-style spice to kick it into gear. my teeth also had a grimy feel to it after the meal. you know...it's that icky texture your teeth get after you eat 3 lbs. of walnuts. the prices are a bit steep (my little ravioli dish cost me $16), but i'd probably return to try some of the other dishes. the only really bad thing about this place is that they're located right next door to a fatty, cheesy traditional pizza joint! you can't avoid not seeing all those happy people walking out w/ their steaming hot take-home pizza boxes. so even if you're enjoying your healthy, incredibly imaginative food creation on your plate in front of you, you're still thinking, "mmmm....fatty, cheesy pizza...."

It is interesting to read other reviews about slow service. This is a place where the food is typically made FRESH for you - it isn't sitting in a fridge or under lamps like you would get at other restaurants. I have never experienced problems here and absolutely love the food -- especially the raw, vegan, ORGANIC, local focus. I choose Rawbert's over my own town's "healthy" cafe because of the superior quality of the food and I know exactly what I'm eating and if I ask someone, they can tell me where it came from - no blank stares or being shifted to another employee. I like the hot carob, the sea vegetable salad, the chips & guac, jalapeno poppers (when available/seasonally), virtually everything I have tried here, I've like. My experiences with the staff have been positive - they are bright, compassionate people who really put a lot of love into every meal from what I can tell. Oh, and their kale chips are AMAZING! So it is the miso.. I could go on and on. You should just try it for yourself. :)

I really like this place. If you like raw food you will like everything here. I've had pizza, onion rings, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, tamales. No, it doesn't taste like typical food but it shouldnt. Eat here, your body will thank you.

I went to this place recently with my girlfriend, and had a wonderful meal. The warm atmosphere is welcoming as soon as you walk through the door, then the curtain that was hung over the inside of the door. We both had outstanding meals, the food was not only very fresh, the flavours are out of this world. They also have a nice selection of various packaged foods that you may bring home with you, home made granola, coconut and the like. Of course all are organic. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. If you are in the Beverly area, I highly suggest you check this place out. The wait staff are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, as well as accommodating. Vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike will rejoice in the atmosphere as well as the food. I am a big guy, and the dinner I had was more than enough for me. Even some of the things I had on my place, which I had no idea what they were, I have to say were amazingly tasty. Well worth the trip to the North Shore.

This restaurant is starting to grow on me. Last weekend we went up here, and got the "meetloaf" special which was surprisingly good - it was made from portobello mushrooms and walnuts. The Chai Frappé smoothie and hot coco drinks were amazing. Their non-raw but vegan and agave sweeted corn muffins are amazing. I've only seen the corn muffins there once, so hopefully they'll bring them back. The other deserts are good as well.

This place is truly a health nut's dream! OG Cafe does vegan and raw versions of all your favorite foods. There is so much to choose from on their menu! They have lots of different appetizers, main courses, side dishes, juices, smoothies, various beverages and delicious sweet treats. They also have lots of gluten free options. Some of my personal favorite things to order here are: the live works bagel with almond chevre, almond chevre and raw cracker appetizer, kelp pad thai appetizer, all of the macro bowls, any of their fresh brewed iced teas and pretty much any of the desserts!! My only complaint is that they have very limited hours, I wish they were open later in the evening! Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian, you will not be disappointed!

Such delicious food. Many vegan choices. The desserts are the best part and they have a mix of raw and cooked vegan choice I love the chocolate chip cookies and the cakes.

Consistent with quality and good service is what earned Rawbert's a 5th star. I've been here 4 additional times since my first visit. Each time I come here, the freshness of their food makes me want to return sooner than I usually do (a busy lifestyle keeps me from coming as often as I'd like) Again, if you want to feel good about yourself after eating out, this is the place. If you're a picky eater, try to break out of your mold and start that process here.

My friend and I dined on a Friday mid-afternoon and a Groupon brought us here. It was a lovely day so we sat outdoors where they offer about 5 tables right on the sidewalk. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable (as we had no idea what most of the menu items were) and attentive. Our Groupon was for $40 so a lot of lunch was to be had. We started with two appetizers: The Guacamole with Chips which were these very tasty vegan crackers and Kale chips with a delicious cheesy sprinkle. Both apps came pretty quickly and we were very good ... a great start! I ordered the Mexican Bowl and my friend, the Thai Bowl. Both were terrific! The Mexican bowl came with a hot sauce on the side, tons of fresh veggies, black beans and delicious hot rice at the bottom. My friend's Thai Bowl had a tasty peanut sauce and big chunks of sunseed burger. Though we were very full, we opted to get dessert "to go". They have a wide selection of vegan and paleo desserts. If you're not a vegetarian, vegan or health nut, there are many options on their menu that you will enjoy! We are both definitely returning and bringing friends!

Best Vegan restaurant on the north shore Having the beet ravioli in cashew sauce...so delicious. Soups here are great and I typically get the Thai bowl for lunch. Sooooo good!

I am not vegan OR vegetarian, but I do believe that they have cornered the market and perfected this style of food in the North Shore. I enjoyed the quinoa bowls, the gluten-free options, the treats they have in the front case, their smoothies, fresh juices, and everything else I ever had there. It would not be a place I frequent just because my diet has some meat, and dairy doesn't bother me, and I tend to stay away from grains/gluten. But like I said, they are practically gourmet vegan for the price/freshness. Oh yeah, the raw thing they pull off is much better tasting than I ever expected.

My most favorite place to eat in the entire world. The raw Bowls and live Pizzas are delicious as are their cashew milk lattes and raw chocolate desserts. We may live in the city, but we're happy to drive out to Organic any day of the week. Don't be shy, bring all your omnivore friends and they'll all agree as ours have -- the food is amazing.

This cafe is the real deal. Great assortment of vegetarian/vegan dishes, sides, smoothies, teas & sweets! We tried the falafel bowl, pho & a green smoothie. All were delicious! We took our food to go and ate it at Lynch Park. The indoor space is relatively small but it is nicely decorated and cozy. On the way out, I couldn't help but notice the people seated at their outdoor tables, who were thoroughly enjoying sweet treats and tea. This will be my new go to spot when I'm in the area.

Stopped in for a second go armed w another groupon. I'll repeat myself from my last review - like a private Life Alive, good for vegans and natural-based food. Like Life Alive, the meals are full of calories (natural doesn't necessarily mean healthy). But we really like the healthy trend and what they're trying to do. We didn't get any, but the desserts look great. My girlfriend got a coffee vanilla latte to start with. I got a triple berry smoothie. She felt her coffee was bland. We both enjoyed my smoothie. Good flavor and not super sweet. Started w a guacamole and chips appetizer. Guac was good, quite fresh. I woulda liked more lime/spice, but that's always my complaint. My gf really liked it. The chips were like kale/sunflower seed homemade chips - really good. We both has Thai bowls. Big, full of rice, and really tasty. Good Thai sauce. Good stuff

The food and atmosphere here are really great; however, I come here every so often and have never had good service. Either you wait forever to be seated or for your order to be taken or the server is lacking in any social graces. Here's a good example: when I went the other day I asked to not have any onions on my meal (I ordered the burger special); this is because I am allergic to raw onions. Not only did the server not inform me that the burger patty was made with onions, but there was a giant heap of onion rings on the plate when it arrived. So I removed the rings from the plate with a napkin, but when I bit into the patty it was clear that there was onion in it. Unfortunately, I'd already eaten a really big bite. So I had to leave and get some stomach medication, but still got sick. This could have been avoided if the server had told me about the onions in the patty so I could have ordered something else. Also I'm a bit dismayed that she didn't ask if I wanted to substitute another side or go without.

I took my friend here who is a total raw foodie. I'm about 50% raw. It was really delicious. We ordered tea, ginger tea was really good. My friend's was lemon & ginger & it was ok. We had the fresh guacamole. Excellent! Then we had the sampler, this was great! Had quinoa, falafel, 2 types of raw veggie burgers, some good sauces as well. Then we shared the Thai bowl w/ brown rice, fantastic. Then we got ridiculous & ordered 6 different desserts to go: GF carrot cake which was to die for, pumpkin dream bar I think it was?, almond joy truffle, strawberry scone, almond butter cup all so good. Service is a bit slow but we think they were training someone new. Everyone is really friendly & helpful. Don't be overwhelmed by the menu. Great for people who have special dietary needs! Go you will love it!!!

it's always a pleasure to be at the cafe. we called ahead for a reservation and they put us at the best seat in the house. we shared a quesadilla. I had a salad and Stuart had the Thai bowl. we shared a piece of cake I had coffee (delicious). Stuart had the chai-amazing! can't wait to return!

man, this place has a cool name. i'm into healthy eating as well, but we walked in and i was blown away by the prices. the girl up front was friendly and helpful and the place was well maintained. the place wasn't a problem. i just couldn't get myself to pay the prices for their pastries. a macaroon sized cookie was $2.75-3.25 each. the energy bar looking thing next to it was $6.50. so we thought we would try a slice of cake instead. $6.50 (a whole pie is $55, tiramisu $65, and 2 layer cake $85). we just got a hot cocoa and jasmine tea. total was $8.50. yikes. we didn't look at the food menu but i'm sure it's not any cheaper. if you're willing to pay those prices, then it's your kind of place. i really do wish the best to them but i wouldn't recommend this place.

I'm in love! Ate dinner at Organic Garden tonight for dinner with a friend. I am not a vegan or vegetarian and I have to say that the food was DELICIOUS. I wish Iived closer so I could eat there every day. :) I arrived before my friend and was greeted warmly by our server, who brought me water right off the bat and asked if I needed anything to start. When my friend arrived, we both ordered the "cheese" quesadillas, which are an appetizer but filling enough for dinner. We got half with chevre and half with jack "cheese". The tortilla was delicious, the filling was flavorful and tangy, and the filling had wonderful textures from the creamy avocado and the crunchy veggies. The two dipping sauces, tahini and salsa, were both divine. For dessert I got the carrot cake, which is vegan but not raw. Again, absolutely scrumptious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now. I would absolutely become a vegan if I could have my meals prepared by Organic Garden! I did not in any way miss animal products, felt satisfied after eating (I couldn't finish my cake....dang, wish I had asked to take the rest with me!), and feel great supporting a locally owned business. I will make the 50 minute drive to eat here again and as others have suggested, perhaps bring a cooler to take some things home.

We love Rawbert's raw food. Everything on the menu is full of flavor and very filling. We have probably had everything on the menu, but enjoy all their daily specials . Even my 3 year old toddler loves the rice bowls here. Save room for dessert. The gluten free raw desserts are delicious. Since this restaurant is over an hour from our house, we bring a cooler with us and take extra dishes home with us. We love the raw cinnamon raisin bagels with warm almond butter. This restaurant is well worth the hour plus drive. We just wish/hope that Rawbert will open a second location on the South Shore someday. We would eat there every day!!!!!

Nommed on a Harvest Bowl, raw raisin bagel, vanilla latte, and coconut macaroon. All were straight up phenom, vegan, and sugar free. Yeeeeehawwwwww!

The food is excellent. I have been going here for about 10 years. I will continue to go for this reason. The service has never been excellent. I guess it's not a priority. The servers smile and that's nice but I would also like to have a dining experience where I get what I actually order. This has really got to transform but it won't until someone takes charge over there.

For a lunch option, I have rarely seen much better. And I am not even a vegetarian. Kind of a funky decoration, which adds to the experience. Bowls are really awesome (I had a Thai Bowl) and there are a few smoothies on the list which are a great tasty adventure. Highly recommended.

We stopped by to get smoothies. It was $18 for two smoothies. When my husband asked if that was his smoothie on the table in back, they said it was not and ours were not ready....but we knew it was..we saw one of the employees make it, then clock out, and leave. They all were chatting and having a grand time, but no one seemed to care about anyones order. Other customers seemed to have similar experiences of a very very long wait time. We ended up asking for our money back after waiting a half hour for them. As we were leaving they asked if we wanted our smoothies as they had been ready for awhile. As we thought, they were sitting on the back counter for awhile, just no one knew whose they were, despite four people being behind the counter.. We declined. I get the relaxed vibe and we are all for that, but when I just want a smoothie..a half hour is a little ridiculous. We live locally and were excited to try Organic Garden. However, we will not go back after that experience, especially after that service and the price!

I am a little bit obsessed with this place. There's nothing I have tried that I haven't loved. Coffee with cashew milk, all of the quinoa bowls, the pad Thai (with almonds instead of peanuts!), kale chips! Love love love Every time I am in the North Shore and I'm hungry I come here!

Many items to choose from. I has their live bagel, the works. Looks small to the eye but fills you up quickly. Also had the corn chowder, unbelievably good. It had a nice thickness and taste to it. Lastly had the Live chocolate hazelnut cake to top it off. It has a cheesecake like texture. The waitress said it takes 12 hrs to make. This is a must desert!

Had the Thai bowl and kale chips (they brought them to me by accident, but let me keep them!), and it was all great. Service was slow but friendly. Not sure if they were understaffed, or it they were just busier than usual for lunch. If I'm in the area, I'll be back!

The food here is absolutely delicious! Just had huevos rancheros and it was terrific. Coffee cake, smoothies, hibiscus cooler... all VERY yummy. This is among the very best vegan (actually ANY type of) restaurants we have enjoyed. HIGHLY recommended! (and the service/staff are great too!)

Woah, woah, woah. Slow it down, folks! To everyone complaining that "RAWberts ORGANIC GARDEN" is "rabbit food".. well, all I can say is, EARTH TO YELPER! (what I wanted to say included expletives, so I went PG. You're welcome.) This place doesn't pretend to be ANYTHING it's not. In fact, it fully embraces everything that it IS. A peaceful, zen-like (albeit teeny tiny) dining room is home to art-gallery walls, a case of to-go healthy treats, and a handful of tables for diners. Allow me some history... When I was a kid, this place was an ice-cream parlor, and I'm pretty sure it was something else before that. As an ice-cream parlor, it had the standard black-and-white linoleum floors, raspberry-lime rickeys, and was a go-to spot in the summer. When it closed, and Organic Garden moved in, all my 12-year-old self could think was: SALAD INSTEAD OF ICE CREAM!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I spent the next 13 years avoiding the place. Green food, yuck. At 25 and the first of what I presume will be many slowing-downs of my metabolism, I started to embrace a healthier diet and lifestyle. My mom, a huge OG fan, asked me to meet her for lunch there. I perused the intimidating menu...so many quotation marks..."cheez", "chips", "quesadilla". Frankly, I prefer my cheese quesadilla with a side of chips, hold the quotation marks. I tried a monks bowl - lettuce, brown rice, black bean soup, avocado, "cheez", sprouts, and tahini sauce. The thing is MASSIVE. Easily enough food for two. I wolfed the whole thing down, and felt full and satisfied for HOURS. Since that first luncheon many months ago, I meet my mother regularly here for falafel wraps, avocado wraps, more monk bowls, "chips", guacamole, "I am mighty" balls, Jedi smoothies, and anything else on the menu that looks remotely familiar. Service has been consistent and good, although I could use my water refilled more often when the bottle they leave at the table is empty. I'll leave you with this -- don't be intimated by the "vegan"ism or "vegetarian"ism of the place, and don't be put off by the prices. The dishes are generous. They have to be priced high to maintain the superb quality of fresh ingredients. You feel great, guilt-free, and inspired to eat more healthily at home when you leave. While another reviewer said it's a "slam dunk for vegans" (and I'm sure it is), as a non-vegan, non-vegetarian, I think anyone could find a meal or two that would be their "go-to" here. Just try it! You'll like it. And if you don't, well...blame it on the rabbit food.

This was my first trip visiting the Organic Garden Cafe based on a Living Social coupon I purchased. Despite traveling about an hour to get to the place, this was well worth the experience. My boyfriend and I both are omnivores (I eat mostly paleo) so it was a great experience as far as gluten free and dairy free dining....even mostly grain free! To start, we both got hot beverages...mint green tea and a delicious hot cup of local coffee. Black bean soup and butternut squash soup which were both delicious each with awesome raw crackers. Simply pad thai was fresh and crunchy. And we got a live pizza half spinach and onion and half "pepperoni". Left with 2 freshly made juices...super green with ginger and a beet/carrot combo juice. Also, the staff was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and consistent. Overall this place was absolutely fantastic! I look forward to visiting again on a weekend trip. Be an open minded individual, you will not be disappointed. Definitely a WOW factor in the dining experience.

I love this place. As a vegetarian with a soy allergy, many of the Boston-area veg restaurants are difficult for me. This place differentiates themselves from many others in its commitment to healthful foods. Lots of soy-free, gluten-free, raw, and sprouted options. My companion and I shared "cheezy" kale chips (somehow cheaper per ounce than Whole Foods'), a "fake" BLT (with coconut bacon!) on buckwheat bread, and onion crisps on the side. The organic sauvignon blanc was delicious! I brought home a date-sweetened raw brownie and a faux omelette made from almonds and brazil nuts. Yum!! I am only bummed it is so far from Boston.

This restaurant is basically my dream come true! It's a cute little cafe with a zen vibe: a perfect mix of casual yet elegant. A delicious aroma fills the air. The choices are all animal product-free (i.e., vegan), and it's clear that much thought and care has been put into the creative offerings. For someone who eats very healthy on a daily basis, it's great to eat out without worrying about having to order something not so healthy or just a boring old salad. The prices aren't low but I thought they were fair considering the quality. The service was fast and friendly. I was too full for dessert, but they looked amazing. We need more restaurants like this!

What was suppose to be a relatively cheap dinner ended up being slightly pricier than expected. Although this is not Rawbert's fault. Everything was so good that we just wanted to try more! I had a groupon for $30 of food. Seems perfectly enough for a place where each dish is like 12-15 bucks. However, once we saw the Kale chips, we wanted them. The spicy cheesy flavor was amazing. Then we saw the falafal ball on the table over so of course we needed an order of that. For entrees we ordered Raw Beet Ravioli (with squash and cashew nut cheese) and a Macro Bowl (Wilted kale, brown rice, dulse, sauerkraut, carrot, and scallion with toasted sesame ginger sauce). We were ready to pay and leave but while trying to walk out I noticed the desert counter... so of course I had to try a few things there. I forgot which bark we got but it was a little too grainy and nutty for my taste. I also got a live poppy onion bagel to go. I have to admit after the apps & my macro bowl I was still a bit hungry. I was training for a marathon so the lack of carbs definitely hit me a bit. Luckily 1/4 of a live poppy bagel did the trick. I can't say I was converted to a raw food diet but I do wish this place was closer to home so I can eat here more often.

I've lived in Beverly for several years and always meant to check this place out based on all the good reviews. I guess the "raw" and "vegan" thing made it easy to put off going there (I'm not a vegetarian). Well, my husband and I finally went a month or two ago and WOW, I cannot believe what we have been missing. He had the Mexican bowl and I had the Thai bowl and they were both amazing. Tasty, fresh, and filling. My husband had a corn chowder that was also really good. I was not really into the kale chips or the chocolate I had after the meal (I guess I'm not a carob person), but everything else was excellent. We went back again a few weeks later and loved it all over again. Needless to say, this is going to be one of our regular places from now on. I feel lucky to have this kind of restaurant in my town.

Super hungry and wanting to go out to eat, there aren't many options as far as restaurants for vegans. I did some research and my boyfriend and I decided to try this place instead of our usual spot. We got there around 6:00 and put in some appetizers. Initially we were really excited that everything on the menu was vegan. We looked through the menu and tried to decided on an entree. After maybe 15 minutes our appetizers came out. We were surprised by the raw vegan quesadillas, but they weren't bad. They were probably the best thing we got. We finished our appetizers in probably five minutes (because they were appetizers) and we waited for our waitress to come take out entree orders. We waited And waited Finally 30-45 minutes later (it was 6:55!) Our waitress comes over after ignoring our table and tending to all the tables around us and she asked if we were all set. What? I was starving and asked if we could put in some entrees. She took our orders and left. She quickly came back to inform my boyfriend that they were out of what she had recommended to him. He decided just to get a bagel. So we waited a very long time again. After maybe 20 minutes, my entree came out, but still no bagel. I looked down at the beet ravioli I was paying nearly $18 for. On the menu it was advertised as hot. While I think it's awesome that they have options for raw vegans, I personally need something hot. This, like everything else, was room temperature. And I really didn't like it. I probably had about three bites. It was 7:30 and still no bagel. How long does it take to toast a bagel? 7:40 the bagel finally comes out and I haven't had the chance to tell my waitress that I don't want the ravioli because she never stayed at the table long enough for me to get a word in. I waited for my boyfriend to finish his food and ten minutes later we got the check. My boyfriend left to get the car and I sat there waiting for the waitress to come take my card. Aggravated at being there for two hours and spending maybe 10 minutes actually eating, I got ready to bring it up myself but then she actually came over. I handed her my card along with the ravioli that was sitting on the table even though I obviously wasn't eating it and I told her I didn't like it. She came back to inform me that she took 10% off of the ravioli because I didn't like it. That was nice, but looking at the check it hardly made a difference, they took a whopping $1.80 off. I didn't even eat 10% of it. If it had been anything else this wouldn't really have mattered, but paying almost $20 for a plate of room temperature food that I really didn't like enough to try to eat is bad. We finally got out of there around 8. We had been there for nearly two hours. This was my first and last time at this restaurant.

I work down the street from this place. I tried it once a few years ago, but was dying to go there for dinner. I was kind of confused when I first walked in whether or not I was supposed to seat myself or order at the counter, I saw others come in after me who were also a little confused. I got the Nut Butter Squash Ravioli. Amazing. Wow. I loved it. My boyfriend is a vegan chef and he makes his own cashew cream and cheeses, and this was just as good! I was very impressed. I had the Get Your Greens smoothie. I didn't love it. I wished it was cold. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back again.

.WOW! In an old storefront, with little to recommend it is a small eatery. Words like wholesome and healthy come to mind. Check the menu, enjoy the intimate ambiance and don't wince at the price... it's worth it!

8.5/10. I've been eating at Organic Garden for a couple years now, and even completed their 2 week internship program as a raw chef. I think I can speak pretty well on their menu, ingredients, prices, etc. Why this restaurant deserves a great rating: it totally lives up to its name. As a chef intern, I watched produce orders come in and listened to them being made on the phone. Literally 99% (or more) of what they order and put into their food is organic. I think a very small amount of things (1 or 2 spices) were "all natural" but very high quality nonetheless. Why else? Just about everything is made from scratch, on site, with no additives and no preservatives. There are a few things that they have brought in from outside like pastries and whatnot, but the burgers, soups, kale chips, cookies, juices, and tons of other things are made on site. How do I know? Because I made them while I was an intern. From a restaurant standpoint, OG gets good grades for the tasty food. I particularly like their falafel, sunseed burgers, buckwheat based pizzas, and soups, but there's something here for almost everyone. They even have bagels and vegan omelets which are delicious. I love the OG. I do have to say, however, that prices are somewhat steep. This is because of their commitment to organic ingredients. The prices are pretty standard for restaurants of its type, but still more expensive than the non raw-foodist would expect to pay. I do also think it could look a bit more modern on the inside. But overall, it's one of my favorite places. The people there are great and you really are getting a wonderful product. I highly recommend.

I work down the street from Organic Cafe. Great place for raw, vegan food. I come here all the time for lunch, usually get the monk bowl and some kind of dessert. They have a ton of options when it comes to vegan desserts. The best part about Organic is that they sell Juice and Wheat grass shots. I recommend calling ahead because it does get packed around lunch. The staff is very friendly and willing to answer any questions you have, especially if you've never been to a crunchy place like this. Keep up the good work Organic Cafe.

I really want to like this place. I've gone 3 times and won't go back. I love the notion of a healthy option and will happily pay for organic foods. Unfortunately the cost is way too high based on the quality of the service and the experience offered in the restaurant. For me the food has been hit and miss. Love the enchilada bowl but couldn't eat more than a bite of the crostini. The smoothies are extraordinarily expensive. While most of the servers are pleasant, it is very very very slow service and they often totally forget things or seemingly disappear creating a frustrating experience. This last visit was ridiculously slow and the server was totally disconnected. Wish I enjoyed it more because i do like the concept. But if you are going to charge that level than the experience has to catch up to the price.

I had a great lunch at Rawbert's. After reading the reviews, I called to make a reservation for lunch around 1:15 on a Tuesday, which turned out to be unnecessary; there were plenty of available tables. I loved the Monk Bowl our server recommended. I also had some of the sliders which were good, but not as tasty as the Monk bowl; they were a bit tough. I did like that they were served with ketchup and mustard, it made it really taste like a burger. :) For dessert, we had a cacao chip cookie, which was AMAZING! They served it warm with a sweet sauce drizzled over the top. It tasted like cookie dough! The coconut nectar is a very effective sweetener. We also had some hazelnut covered chocolate, which was a bit boring/bland. Overall, I really liked this place.

We came here for a weekend lunch with a Groupon. This was my first time experiencing a vegan/raw/organic restaurant. We had the Spicy Thai Wrap and the Macro Bowl ($9-10 each). Both were delicious and incredibly satisfying for having no meat/dairy (which are my favorites). We also had smoothies which were very good but on the expensive side ($7 per smoothie!). I would definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you are looking for something healthy and allergen-friendly. They have food to go, pastries, coffee, desserts and beer/wine. I should also add that our service was excellent and not slow as others had mentioned.

Absolutely amazing. I've lived in Salem my entire life and I've never made a trip over to Beverly to try this hidden veg gem! I went in for breakfast and even though the kitchen printer was broken and my order wasn't put in for half and hour it was worth the wait once the food came! The service was fantastic (besides the hiccup) I had the vegan faux huevos rancheros and the dish was portioned to perfection and was accompanied by a tastefully spicy hot sauce that elevated the my typical Wednesday morning breakfast. I can't wait to come back in the winter when I'm back from school!

Food is okay but the portions are really small. They do not have wifi so got there and ordered lunch to sit down and get some work done and had to pack up and leave. Need WIFI here and more consistency with their meals. Each time the size of portion comes out different. Love the menu offerings and all the GF and DF options though.

A mainstay for both raw foodies and vegans - will always return. We love traveling to the North Shore, planning a hike or a beach visit, then making our way over to Organic Garden Cafe on the way home. We are not raw foodies or vegan, but love the flavors and freshness of the cafe's food. We also appreciate that the menu has expanded to include warm food items for chilly days - the menu is still extremely healthy yet caters to diverse eaters. We always try the specials - Mexican dishes, ravioli, or the wraps - and walk out very happy campers! As more people experiment with vegetarian and raw food diets, there's a plethora of new restaurants, products and gimmicks; Rawbert offers the real deal. He's been doing this long before it became 'hip' and you can trust the quality of his ingredients and his loving attention to health and flavorful food.

Fabulous! So worth every penny for the flavor, the guilt free desserts (sweetened with figs and dates - no added sugar or fat!), supporting local farms, and knowing that no animals were harmed. We left completely satisfied and best of all - with a bounce in our step from all the goodness we felt coursing through our veins. Totally recommend the Thai bowl. Love!

Organic Garden Cafe - that's the name on your sign, yes? -and on that Groupon? Your website logo describes you as "rejuvenating, vibrant, local, sustainable". I'm totally on board with all those things. Further down the page, I see you've thrown in the word "vegetarian". Not my favorite food, but will do in a pinch! However -- I've driven all the way to Beverly, found a parking place on Cabot Street, and put my quarters in the meter... *Now* you tell me the pizza has no cheese? I eat about 80% organic at home, and I thought it was pretty easy to understand what the word "organic" means... I always thought "organic" meant "free from pesticides, hormones or drugs". Apparently in this restaurant it means, "free of butter, milk, eggs and cheese". Baked goods without butter? Omelettes with no eggs? Pizza with that plasticky fake goo? Oh no, no, no... Can I at least have a beer?

I will start out by saying that I am not raw nor vegan (I am vegetarian, which is why I wanted to try it out). I am a huge fan of this place. The food is so yummy, and you almost don't even feel guilty taking a dessert to go, especially since everything is healthy! I love all the macro bowls, live pizzas, corn chowder (SO GOOD) & beet ravioli (heavenly). I've been here many times and have never been disappointed with any of the entrees. All their dishes are filled with flavor, and you can fully taste the herbs & spices. The food is seriously amazing. Also, I usually never get dessert when going out to eat, but whenever I come here I make sure to get something to go! Their desserts are amazing, one of the best brownies I've ever had. The carrot cake is pretty amazing as well. I will agree with some previous posts about the service. There has definitely been times when service was slow, and at times the staff has been not so friendly. But, I love the food and the message the restaurant is trying to carry. I definitely recommend this place!

One of the best restaurants in the entire Boston area. Too bad it's way up in Beverly, or I'd eat there way more often. It is GREAT! I especially love it around Thanksgiving, they do awesome stuff. I had the most amazing dessert EVER there, years ago. It was a strawberry pie. I've been asking about it every time I've been back since, and they don't even seem to remember it, let alone have it now. Of course, I haven't been in for a couple of years, so maybe it's back now? I will never forget that amazing strawberry pie. Raw, organic, vegan strawberry pie that was to DIE for. But, basically, everything there is awesome, with or without the strawberry pie. :-) If you have never eaten raw vegan food, and you think you'd hate it, just give this place a chance. You may be very surprised. And if you already love that kind of food, you should find plenty to enjoy here.

I am very grateful that this place is here on the northshore. The food is excellent and highly medicinal. You can change your health for the better meal by meal at a place like this. They have set a very high bar using high quality ingredients for everything and it really shows. Wow.

Came here with a groupon and my husband and I definitely enjoyed it! The food was pretty filling for us, yet we didn't have that 'food coma' feeling. I wasn't sure if my husband would like eating here(he's a pretty big meat eater), but he enjoyed the flavors and how refreshed he felt. We got a coffee, which was nice and strong(how I like it!). The only dairy item that had was the half and half for the coffee. We had raw Pad Thai that was made with kelp noodles. We never had kelp noodles before and we enjoyed the crunch of the noodles with the sauce. The sauce doesn't taste like a typically pad thai sauce, but it was tasty and nutty. We had a sampler which included a great hummus and falafel(we're big falafel fans). We had a monk bowl, but between sharing the raw Pad Thai and the sampler, we were pretty full. We saved the monk bowl for later which we just thought it was okay. Everything on the menu sounds interesting and I like the relax, casual ambiance of this restaurant. The desserts sounded awesome and I can't wait to try more of their food!

I love most of the food served here. It's a little pricey for me, but when I have the extra cash or a groupon I go there with my daughter. It is our special retreat. It's a tiny seating area but it has a nice ambience. My only complaint is that the staff doesn't always seem very happy. The hot chocolate, chai tea, and raspberry lime Rickey are fantastic! The tiramisu is to die for!!!!!!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about their menu.

I love the way the food from this restaurant makes me feel. There are not many places one can eat where he or she can trust in the food. - To believe that organic vegan food can heal the body. -Such a blessing. I am so thankful for The Organic Garden:) Thank you to all the hard working, friendly staff.

I had a great meal here. This seems to be the only true vegan restaurant in Beverly and the area when I did a search and it was very good. I had a bowl of mixed vegan deliciousness. I will return soon, it was worth the effort to find.

Ok. The first time I ate here, I was in utter disbelief about how terrible it was. Then the owner wrote me a thoughtful note and asked me retry, saying even non-vegans can enjoy his restaurant. Given how nasty my original remark was, and how encouraging he was, I opted to give it a second try, begrudgingly. I explained my issue to the waitress and she helped me select something I'd love. Look, this is raw vegan food. It's not for everyone. But I've got to give him props... He stands by his food, he's persistent in getting another shot, and when coached, the waitstaff does a good job helping out. The beet squash ravioli were far superior to my initial meal, but I won't be craving it anytime soon. Great effort, fabulous work ethic, pretty decent food - likely a slam dunk for a vegan.

I am not a vegan, nor a vegetarian for that matter, but would love to be and I probably would be if all my food source could be from this place. I always order to go, but it's quaint inside and would be enjoyable to dine in. (they serve wine!) Very create menu and amazing desserts too. I would give it 5 stars except for three reasons: I usually order the same thing so not sure I am entitled to give 5 stars; the staff can be so-so (friendliness etc); not super consistent. But really, vegan or otherwise, it's a home-run. Oh and PS: it's not all raw, which I like. A little cooked black bean and quinoa does the soul some good.

The thing you have to consider before you eat here is that everything is raw and vegan. Most people don't understand that and expect the food to be a spectacular explosion of tastes, which it isn't. It's raw and it's organic. The food is good for vegan food- the salads are pretty delicious. The one thing I had a problem with was that we sat down for a while before anyone bothered to tell us that it was counter service only... They could have said that when we walked in. The desserts are ok- some taste a bit like dry wall, but hey, they don't use milk, butter, or eggs, so I didn't expect miracles. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for someone who is vegan, but, in general, not for someone who doesn't have a history of trying/liking vegan food. I definitely wouldn't take a friend there on a whim- that would be very risky, as a lot of people probably wouldn't like the food.

Know what you're getting yourself into before eating here. I went with a vegetarian family member and personally did not care for it and she seemed to think it was average. The smoothie was the best part, and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

I was SO excited to try this place. Planned a lunchdate with a friend here a week in advance and was really looking forward to it, as I have recently become vegetarian. It looked so cute. I loved the outdoor seating. I loved the way the place was decorated (although it clearly needed a good scrub-down from ceiling to floor) and of course, loved the concept. Anyway- being our first time here, upon walking in we were a little confused. You are suppose to order your food at the register then sit down, but we weren't completely sure, and the girls working there just glared at us until we figured it out. They were only a few feet away and could have simply informed us of this without looking at us like morons. I ordered the Hummus and Baked Pita Chips because they actually didn't have much that really appealed to me. My friend ordered the Sun Seed Burger. When we put in our order the girl was honestly so snappy I just couldn't understand where it was coming from. It seemed like it should be a relaxed, low-key place and with the "shut the bathroom door behind you to maintain zen" approach you think they'd consider the fact that smiles and friendliness would go a longg way! My Hummus was REALLY GOOD. I wish they had given me more chips because I could have eaten it all! And I was kinda afraid to ask the girl at the front for more lol. They threw some shriveled up carrot slices on the plate which I tried taking a bite of but it was nasty. Not sure why a place like this needs to pinch pennies to this degree considering all the ingredients used in this place are in-expensive and limited, compared to most other restaurants. My friend didn't like the Sun Seed Burger whatsoever but to be fair it was his first time trying anything of that nature, so I'm not sure I can accurately asses its quality! I do, however, know the Hummus is what gives this place 3 stars (which should say a lot about the Hummus!) Won't be returning. Sadly.

I've been here a few times over the past few months and the food has always been great. I think the negative reviews (those that are based on the food, not on the service) are probably because the menu is vegan, and raw(ish), if you aren't open to that, you probably will not have a good experience. I eat meat, but I prefer plant-based foods, so I like this place. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous - I usually bring home a meal's worth of leftovers. I've found the servers to be kind & attentive. This is not formal dining (and I've never spent more than $12 on an entree), so the relaxed, seat-yourself service-style makes sense. I always get the Macro bowl which has brown rice, kale, dulse (seaweed), sauerkraut and an amazing sesame sauce that I could never duplicate at home. I've also had the kale chips (delicious), and some of their desserts, like the nut-butter cups, which were also great.

Great food your body will love, made by really kind people who love what they do. The Tai Chi Chai Tea is other-worldly, and the cinnamon raisin raw bagel is the BEST - so filling, but not heavy :))

I ordered the Thai Bowl and it was fantastic. A lot of different flavors and textures made it a delightful experience. They also have Turkish delight which I was excited about because I just watched Narnia and wondered what it was. I will get it next time. What I really liked about the place was the decor. There were positive messages all over the place and paintings of Buddha. The women's room had two lists: How to love a child and how to be an artist. I stayed in the bathroom an extra minute just to read them and they made me feel warm and gooey inside. Great place! I will definitely go back.

I have never felt so full and so healthy at the same time! I bought a groupon for Organic Garden because I am trying to eat a raw/vegan diet. I went with my boyfriend and we absolutely LOVED it. The appetizers are delicious, the bowls and wraps-- amazing, and the desserts are the BEST. NO DAIRY--- no upset stomach---and lots of Gluten Free Options. Our waitress was extremely helpful and attentive even when we were asking so many questions about ingredients so we could make some of the food on our own. We want to live in that restaurant! We will be going back quite often!

bad day? With mate in tow I hurried back for a vegan lunch (trying to convince the mate of course that vegan is awesome.) Ordered him Monk bowl, me a Thai plate. Looked great and then.... Rice was cold, mushy and obviously left from the day before. We were both in yukk-ville. On a cold March afternoon the last thing we wanted was cold and mushy! Thai plate was mixed raw and cooked and was room temperature --on top of cold rice. $16 disappointment. Recovery was the really amazing carrot cake with frosting to die for, but we walked away not wanting to go back (mate for sure, me with mixed feelings) Two star is for the owner who stood with his back to me, talking to the servers while I waited (and waited) to order the cake. Customers first--HELLO!

went here once and will never go back. If i wanted rabbit food I'd go to the petstore. As soon as i left i went next door to Little Italy and got a pie to actually get full. The lingering taste of the food from this place made me vomit in my mouth the whole day. This place belongs in rural Vermont not downtown Beverly.

This is our favorite restaurant and go here at least twice a week. The food is fresh and beautiful. It's not 100% raw so everyone (vegan or not) can eat here and be happy. There are enough bowl combinations to satisfy any taste and you can even make your own. They do serve some cooked food like quinoa and brown rice which is part of what makes the bowls a great introduction to healthy eating. (I wouldn't recommend starting with the pizza if raw food is unfamiliar to you -- it's too different although everyone should get a taste of their yummy kale chips (so crispy and cheesy)) Absolutely, positively try the tiramisu. It's the most amazing dessert!

Monk bowl = healthy, vegan, awesomeness! They also have organic beer which is yummy. The monk bowl is layered with greens, brown rice or quoino (spelling help?), their soup of the day which was a lentil chili, and falafel. It's extremely filling and your feel good after you eat it.

I wanted to eat healthy so I decided to order take out from here for dinner the other night. I decided on the Large Spinach Salad. The lady who answered the phone was pleasant enough and said it would be 15-20 minutes. I showed up 25 minutes later just wanting to walk in, pay and leave with my salad. There were about 4 other people hovering around the counter area with one employee helping them. The place was pretty full so I expected a wait, no problem. After answering about 5 questions about what the exact ingredients were in the particular entree the customer in front of me was considering the waitress/cashier said it would be a few minutes and went to wait tables. Meanwhile I can see my salad in a TO GO box waiting a few feet away. After about 5 minutes another waitress/cashier started helping the customers that were in front of me. Once she finally got to me i paid with my debit card and signed the receipt. It is during this time that she decided to help another customer instead of grabbing my salad and handing it to me. After another 5 minutes of answering some more ridiculous questions about the ingredients she finally got back to me and quickly grabbed my salad and handed it to me. The worst part.... I get home and there is no dressing (maybe I should have checked before leaving). The dry salad is nothing more than a handful of spinach with a few walnuts and sun-dried tomatoes at the bottom. Total cost = $12+ Very disappointing. Waited a total of 20-25 minutes for my salad while it sat about 10 feet in front of me, overpaid and didn't even get salad dressing. Small serving for a "LARGE" as well. I won't be ordering here again.

I've been here twice, and both times the food has been great. On each occasion, it was early for dinner (around 5) and my mom and I were the only people sitting to eat. We've had the monk's bowl (skip it, because it's not as good as everything else), the onion rings, the pad thai, the beet ravioli, and the pizza. All raw, all good. If you are in need of a sweet, skip everything else and gorge yourself on raw brownies - those things RULE. We brought one home to share and ended up eating most of it on the road! I dream of these things. Best. Raw. Dessert. Ever.

Just got back from an amazing dinner at Rawbert's. What's with these negative reviews below? Me no get it. Anyway, I absolutely loved my meal here. My man-friend and I ordered the fresh spring rolls and kale chips as an appetizer and enjoyed every bite (the nutritional yeast really gives the kale chips some character). I had the sea vegetable salad with a filafel ball and man-friend had the "Arabian Night" sampler. Absolutely amazing stuff. I'm not much of a filafel fan, but these were great. Not that fried dough crap -- real, whole, soft filafel. Mm mm. The service was excellent -- our waitress was very cool and answered all questions. The wine was just what we needed for a warm evening (we had the white "Frey" table wine)... organic and sulfite-free.... no headache... I bought a package of the kale chips as well as the "nachos" (flax-seed based, I believe).... $4.25 a pack but I think it's worth it. Sure the food is a bit pricier than other restaurants, but I seriously do not mind. The food is prepared so mindfully.... it's all very clean.... my tummy be happy!

I've been a huge fan of the organic garden for years. I must say that they really have gone downhill and quite rapidly in the past. The food now is sub par. The flavors are one of two things either lackluster or so overpowering you're not sure if they're trying to cover up spoiled produce. I really wouldn't recommend this place. It use to be such a great little gem in a city plagued by pizza joints and dunkin donuts. Next time I want raw foods I'll be ordering a plain salad since this food was disgusting.

Yum! If(as some reviews state) this place ever went downhill it's gone back up again. I'm not a raw foodist, vegetarian or vegan, although I do appreciate veggie food. We had a Groupon and finally used it - the only thing that would hold me back from a return visit is it's far from where I live. The service was very good. As to delays a couple seated after us explained they were in a hurry and Rawbert the owner helped them get in and out in time to make whatever they had to do at 8pm. The ambiance is kinda crunch granola but nice. We spent $68 for 2 appetizers 2 mains, 1 whole coconut in husk, 1 glass of biodynamic wine. We were too full for dessert. I think that's very reasonable.

Love this place! A delicious healthy alternative. No matter what you get on the menu you can be sure it is made with good, high quality ingredients with your health and well being in mind. LOVE their smoothies! I was happy to find out that they make them strictly with fruit and water, something that you dont find at many places. A lot of places use yogurt or ice cream, etc as a base and thats just not as health conscious as Id prefer. It is on the expensive side and food does take a while but it is surely worth the wait! The quesadillas are delish and Ive gotten them as a meal with a smoothie. Staff is friendly and informative. I wish there were more places like this!

My friend and I have been coming to Rawbert's faithfully for about a year now, and are huge fans of the food. Our favorite is the Harvest Bowl, but I also really enjoy the Velvet Elvis smoothie, Seaweed Salad, and the desserts are just out of this world!! I always leave feeling refreshed, never bogged down. It's nice, being vegan, to have a place to go for quality food that is not only tasty but aesthetically pleasing. However, there are some things keeping me from adding another star. The service always seems a bit slow, even when it's almost empty. The waitstaff don't seem very enthusiastic/friendly much of the time and we often feel like we are inconveniencing them. I went this week as a late birthday celebration. It was absolutely packed when we got in-understandable without a reservation on a Friday evening. We waited outside at a table for a while, without menus for some time. Robert, the owner was extremely attentive and polite, but the other staff didn't seem to care too much about our comfort. Eventually we were moved inside, since it was cold, but the waitress took an awfully long time to get our order. I decided to order something different and special (worth blowing my spending $ on as a college student) so I went with the Beet Shell Ravioli. OUT OF THIS WORLD. My friend ordered the Raw Corn Chowder, which was also delicious and filling-mild and simple yet there was a certain complexity of some underlying flavors. Possibly coconut? We got some tiramisu to go and it was also divine! I think they did an especially good job on the top layer-good creaminess/not overt sweetness that tiramisu is, but we agreed that it was lacking in notes of espresso. The wine took a long time to get to the table, and the soup was brought out about 10 min before my dish. My friend and I were extremely hungry, and she didn't want her soup to get too cold, so she started eating. It was just not a very fun dinign experience-we both left feeling stressed and a bit disappointed. I don't like to give negative reviews, but I would have to be honest and say that it was one of the worse dining experiences I've had, except for Robert's care for customers and and amazing food... it's interesting for a place that is so focused on healthy lifestyle that the waitstaff seem so stressed and unhappy. Honestly I wonder if they take advantage of the owner's good graces. I would give it another chance one day if service improves, but for now I'll do takeout.

My wife and I stopped by here a few weeks ago after hearing about it for a while. The food is great - we had the falafel and the hummus. The servings are a little small and the prices are a little high. We also grabbed some of the 'baked goods' in the display case and they were just as good as our meal. The service was a little lackluster - they messed up our order and wasted 45 minutes of our time while we waited. They did give us some free treats but it was a weird experience. We will still go back again, though.

I have generally liked the food here, but have had issues with their service, and think they are too expensive, particularly considering where they are. No matter how busy they are, I always get asked, "Do you have a reservation?", and when we inevitably say "No", get sneers and reluctantly seated. The waitress who we usually have can have a pretty nasty attitude. Also, the service can be extremely slow- one time it took 15 minutes just to get water. There's tons of stuff on the menu. I've tried a handful of the dishes and haven't disliked anything, except for the a pina colada shake. It tasted like granola, which is strange, because if you just use raw coconut and pineapple, it should taste sweet and yummy. They obviously skimped on something, and the result was funkiness. The taco plate is delicious, as is the falafel. I have yet to try their desserts, but have heard good things about them. One of the times I went, I felt pretty nasty afterward. I know that some may argue that this is because raw food 'detoxes', but I would counter that it's probably from the over use of nut butters. Just because something is raw, doesn't necessarily make it healthy. I do plan on going again in the future, if only because it's down the street from my boyfriend's grandparents'. I do give it credit for being one of the few non-trashy eating establishments in Beverly (excluding Anmol and Siam Delight), and they don't have to advertise "FULL BAR!" to get business. But, considering that the restaurant is in a suburb with probably lowish rent, I don't think the prices are fair.

Great food , the hot chocolate is wonderful. Everything is made without animals and dairy. Research raw food. It is the ultimate way to eat. The food is labor intensive. Try the raw chocolate deserts. You will be very surprised. It is layed back. If you expect quick and fast forget it. This is a place to relax and hang. You will never feel pressured. You might have to get up a get you own water or utensils. This is the experience. If you want to be totally catered too, don't go. You will just get upset. You will notice most customers are very happy. It's the food.

Awesome place to eat healthy vibrant food. Little slow with their service. But the integrity of the food more than makes up for it.

I've been here a 4 or 5 of times since moving to DT Bev. The quality of the food is always great. I crave their sprout salad. Last time I went, I just stopped in to get a smoothie. After paying a whopping $7.50, they handed me a cup that wasn't nearly full! And the cups are small to begin with, probably 12 oz., and it maybe had 9oz of liquid in it. They guy did hand it to me with a smile? Maybe a smug smile for ripping me off? I understand that quality products cost more which is why I don't mind paying a little more, but 9oz for $7.50 is insanity. I'm never buying a smoothie there again until they get 16oz cups and fill them up. Like Michelle J., I also have had the issue where I've gone in for lunch but not understood the order at the counter procedure, and waited at a table for 20 minutes for service while no one bothered to ask what we were waiting for. They are nice when you have their attention but seem more interested in socializing with each other when you don't. ADDITION 10/1/12 I went here with my mom and we saw Larry David. Not sure why he was eating lunch in Beverly, but this is now Beverly's best place to spot a celebrity drinking half of a smoothie!

Total ripoff. Slice of bread with a palm sized sprinkling of veggies and some sort of Tahini sauce that is supposed to be faux cheese. That's what they call a "deep dish pizza". It comes with several forkfulls of arugula an shredded carrots that they had the arrogance to call a salad. The service was indifferent. The "kitchen" was like a college co-op (with so much raw and "live" food, there's precious little actual cooking going on). Only a true believer Veganazi could overlook the over priced and amatuerish approach this joint takes to essentially arranging vegetables on a plate.

A few weeks ago we tried the Cafe for the first time. We are new to striving towards vegetarianism and enjoyed the food. The atmosphere reminded me of Harvard Square about thirty years ago; cozy, laid-back, Zen. The wait staff are colorful. The food was very good; corn chowder was awesome. Kale chips were novel and we loved them. All that fiber is very filling. Thank you for "the only dairy allowed in the house" half-and-half so I could enjoy a rich cup of coffee. Appreciate an organic alternative to the feeling of eating clean.

Food is excellent, which is why I am a return customer. But the service sucks!! Like really sucks. Waited 20 minutes for a wrap because wait staff was busy chatting with one another. When told my order would be another 5 minutes, I noticed they hadn't even put the order in. If the food is good I don't mind poor service, but if you view service as a main criteria of whether or not you' ll go somewhere, this might not be your spot. Staff seems like they're too cool. Food rocks tho!

I like that this place really fills a need for people who are in the raw vegetarian category. I am not, but I've had a couple of good meals there. They offer a good variety for people who have decided that meat and cooking are not a good idea! I definitely could not eat there every day, and it takes some adventure if you are not already familiar with the types of food they serve. They've been there as long as I've been in Beverly (6 years. . .) so I'm assuming they get enough of a clientele to make it, which is great. Different is good!

Consistently wowed by the taste, texture, and creativity of all the dishes here. I'm glad they've decided to go transitional so as to attract or satisfy more tastes, while still maintaining a menu that offers a huge variety of delicious, fun vegan and raw food. Had the most incredible lemon dessert (a special) last time. Love the sake and the coffee drinks. We always feel so good when we're done eating, too! I wish there were more of these places in our area, but feel fortunate to have Rawbert's relatively close. This place is well worth a drive, at any rate!

As a somewhat reluctant 10 year vegetarian I am always weary about vegetarian/vegan places. Having lived on the west coast for years where raw and vegan are much more common I have to say Rawberts was great. After reading some reviews and knowing the laid back nature of these type of places we got there early. It definitely isn't big and it was packed by 11:45 when we left. Thai Spice Wrap was awesome. Loved the vegan pad thai. Desserts & smoothies were tasty as well. The owner even offered our year old daughter some blueberries but she was already digging into our food. Its about 45 minutes from home but will definitely make the trip up again for our raw/vegan fix.

If you are already familiar with the health benefits derived from eating raw foods, and you are not familiar with this small restaurant in the heart of Beverly, please proceed there at your next opportunity. The owner, Robert (Rawbert) Reid is an experienced practitioner in the art of preparing raw foods in a way in which the presentation maximizes the dining experience. Among the foods on the menu are: delicious salads; special entrees of the day; various juice-bar beverages; organic beer and wine; exceptional Chai teas; and sumptuous desserts. Just one example of their intriguing entrees-of-the-day is a spaghetti and meatball dinner which contains neither meat nor spaghetti (this place is strictly vegetarian and none of their food is cooked) but tastes delicious as raw and dehydrated-raw ingredients are combined in a way that simulates the textures of an actual spaghetti and meatball dinner. I'm a frequent diner at this restaurant and I have never been disappointed.

The restaurant has come a long way since inception when everything used to taste like tamari. Kudos to it for being the first of its kind in MA. In fact, it arrived years ahead of Cohen's Grezzo. If you're feeling froggy and want to leap, try their onion rings, nut butter squash ravioli, anything from their juice bar menu, or dessert case. The concept of consuming live, ripe, alkaline, organic, vegan food has me completely over the moon. It's their execution, and price tags that leave me grounded, and preferring homemade or Grezzo. If lasagna is the day's special, the tomatoes have to be ripe, not reddish and green. The nut "ricotta" has to be fresh, and tasty. The expectation when dining out is the food will be better than you make at home. Particularly when lunch for 2 can cost as much as dinner for 2 at a mid priced restaurant. (This is Beverly 01905, not Beverly 90210.) Servers are friendly and blend in well with the hippy-ish decor, lacking a few tall lava lamps, and marijuana plants. With a menu that spans 2 + legal-sized pages, your eyes should find something that appeals to your tastes.

I'm definitely a fan of this place! The hot coffee drinks they make are so amazing - I've had them with soy and cashew milk. All of the bakery items are dreamable! The food is really good. Beware that the cashew cheeses are an acquired taste (in my opinion). The pizza crust is not what you think it is. It is worth a try though. I especially enjoy the soups and salad/wraps. They are really generous with portions, so you'll have some for another meal. Get the portobello sliders !! The staff is nice too! The food is pricey but probably worth it for the quality. The location gives it a 4 star but thats relative to where I live! Enjoy this fun experience!

When I went there for the first time I was very unsure because I don't like trying new things, but as soon as I hade my first bite I fell in love with the food. After we ate we hade there cookie and brownies and I was surprised it was vegan! I have to say that there cowgirl cookie is the best out of them all.

I had some friends visiting from out of town and they are vegetarian. I thought that the organic garden would be a perfect spot to bring them to with many options. Slightly disappointed.... I love organic anything but this place was a little strange. I'm not over joyed by the fact they don't offer any "non vegan" lunches or dinners on their menu. Cashew nut cheese? Service was REALLY long. My friend's boyfriend ordered a glass of wine and it took over 20 minutes to bring out. We ordered smoothies and it took just as long. I wouldn't recommend this place again (sorry I hate saying it). I feel you can eat healthy, but it doesn't have to be a bunch of strange things thrown on a menu. As my friends said it was like going outside and eating mulch. Just sorta weird and not tasty.

Been wanting to go here forever, finally went and it was even better than I'd hoped. LOVED the Harvest Bowl...so many flavors and textures and colors. Completely satisfying. And even though I was quite full, their desserts case was too tempting to ignore that I had no choice but to order a brownie. It was perfect...big, crispy on the outside, and moist, dense cake on the inside. The only problem is now i'm hooked. Good thing it's not right around the corner!

Good coffee from Jim's Organics. Great little scone with jam on top. Read other reviews for the mixed response to the raw offerings. One concept I very much like is the sliding-scale meal -- a set menu for which each customer can pay on according to his/her own available wealth.

First- the food was good, not great, and definitely not worth the price- so I'd give the food 3 stars, service 1 star. I went with my boyfriend, and we've both waited tables for years, and we both honestly felt her service was unacceptable. Let me explain... The server was not particularly friendly. I am forgiving, if you say you're sorry for a mistake and are nice, I don't care, even if you screw up my order- I'll give you a 20% tip for being a genuinely nice, hard working person. I understand everyone screws up and has off days. But our server was not nice and was not an attentive, kind person, not to mention the service was very, very slow. First, she forgot my tea I ordered and when I asked her about it she said "Oh", walked away, and came back with my tea 5 minutes later- no "I'm sorry I forgot, let me get it right away". Second, she was impossible to track down, as we wanted refills on our water (which we never got). Third, when ordering I was inquiring about the options to have the portabello sandwich on- bread or some other option I can't remember. I opted for the bread and she told me when repeating my order that I ordered the portabello burger platter. I never asked about the platter or even uttered the word platter, I asked only about the bread options. I didn't realize until my meal came that the platter was a completely different meal and was charged $7 more. Forth, she put my side of avocado on my boyfriend's bowl, which turns out- she ordered him the wrong bowl. After all this, she did not apologize for any of it, she did not smile or appear to be genuine in any way. Honestly, it was some of the worst service I have ever had, and for that I will never go back. Food was decent but overpriced, so if this is the food you crave- get takeout.

My husband and I decided to try Organic Garden for lunch on Saturday to find out what everyone is raving about. I have to say that this place lacks a sense of humor and everyone working there seems just little annoyed that there are customers. The menu is a bit tricky to read. The font is small and there are notes here and there about many items. Many items can be ordered as a wrap or on a salad which is great. However the one salad I ordered couldn't be wrapped and that was puzzling to me. We both started our meal with water which was luke warm and without ice. The waitress took a long time to get to our orders and it looked like there should have been one more server getting the food out. We both decided on falafel wraps which were fresh and tasty but not super. For the cost of these sandwiches I would have greatly appreciated some bit of side dish, maybe some fresh fruit? I have heard the desserts are great, and they looked great. I don't think we will be back anytime soon to try them however. The staff was just not friendly and nobody thanked us when we left which is a major peeve of mine, especially in a such a small place!

I love the food here, never had a bad meal. Very creative menu, especially their specials. Everything I've tried so far was tasty. Portions are the perfect size for me, no leftovers and not overly stuffed at the end. Love their desserts. The staff is friendly, although pretty spaced out. Service is a lil slow since everyone is stuck in their own little world. My pot of tea got cold from sitting in the counter for 15 mins. Still... the food is good and l highly recommend this place.

My brother and his wife influence us with good food - vegan food - and had to check out this place last weekend. What a great place for a healthy lunch!! We had soup, spring roll, salad, pizza, bowls and wraps and all came out great. Kids loved all and dug into the bowl as if I never fed them! Only thing was that the orders were mixed up and the service was slow. But they were accommodating to their mistakes and very friendly. I already know what to try next time. It's a must-try for anyone. I guess it was rated "not good for kids" but I find it very good for kids to have them try healthy food and the portions are great so it's not expensive for kids. (Obviously, it's more costly than McDonald Kids Meal.)

It's comfortably nestled along a small-town street, though this isn't the kind of restaurant you'd find in Mayberry. After friends and i visited the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, we decided to venture to the Organic Garden in nearby Beverly for some quality organic, raw, vegan food. The dining room inspires beatitude with its cool blue and green interior, and mellow staff. Pick a cool beverage from their lengthy selection of teas, juices, and smoothies and start sipping while you review their extensive menu of creative gourmet food. Start off with a savory order of Onion Rings (onion coated with olive oil and seasoned w/ ground flax/sesame/sunflower batter, dehydrated crispy). Follow that with a Spicy Asian Wrap (spiced with ginger, lemongrass & galangal root with teriyaki and cashew butter sauce). For dessert, choose any of their yummy vegan pies. Organic Garden is straightforward and unpretentious, and it is well worth the drive up from Boston. Unfortunately, i have to deduct one star because of their high prices.

I stopped by for lunch and for $7.50 had a very high quality meal. I am not eating dairy or meat at this time, so it is great to be able to walk into a place and order anything off the menu. I love this place!

I have mixed feelings about this place. They seem to have a lot of issues with their food sanitation and service. The second to last time I ate there our service was horrible, the kid was obviously new so we can't really blame him, but there were plenty of experienced staff people standing around chatting. Anyway, he messed up both my order and my friend's order several times to the point where eventually we just gave up trying to get it right, ate the food we got and left. The last time I ate there the owner was taking his staff through the kitchen and pointing out to them all the food safety rules they were breaking. Like not using gloves or leaving containers with food uncovered or spoons left in a food container. It was pretty dumb to be having this health code orientation during the somewhat busy lunch hour when there were paying customers there. Needless to say, I have not been back since. The only thing I'll miss is their avocado sandwich.

Extensive menu both raw and cooked. Zuchinni bisque was delicious. Ordered half a club and it came as a wrap instead. Friends ordered pizza which is raw and a little strange but flavorful. Service was incredibly slow but pleasant enough. Macaroons are good too. Overall if you have dietary restrictions and or are a vegan there are tons of choices! Including organic beer, wine and sake cocktails.

They make the best raw chocolate chop cookies - atually all the raw "baked" goods are very tasty. There wheatgrass is always fresh and taste as good as possible for whaetgrass.

Terrible. I was so excited to finally try this place, and as soon as we walked in, I knew we had made a mistake. The woman who served us barely spoke at all. She took our order, and then we sat, and sat, and sat. We had our two children with us in hopes of exposing them to different foods, but making children wait in a restaurant for 30 minutes to actually get the food is not fun! The menu wasn't very clear. The service was not friendly at all, and the food tasted terrible. Raw food doesn't have to taste like cardboard. I had the "corn chowder." The consistency was not pleasing and the only flavor it had was from the green onion sprinkled on the top. We ordered several items to try and liked only the smoothies. We left there still feeling very hungry. This place is overpriced and not worth the money. I'm glad they offer raw vegan foods and it seems that many people enjoy this place but I will never go back.

Stopped by Rawbert's this weekend, by chance, while avoiding traffic back to Boston. I felt like I found a cafe with a food conscience from Upstate NY, or Western MA! Have dusted off my personal juicer since, as I just loved their apple, ginger, lemon, banana combo! The margherita "pizza" was delicious and filling. Kale chips were great albeit not exactly the usual shape and texture of chips that one is accustomed to in the popular culture sort of way. I didn't care for the raw reuben plate, though....but it was fresh. Note to people reading reviews...this is not for novices who have the notion of natural foods being akin to what you buy at Whole Foods. Expect a new twist and a different approach to what you normally consider to be cheese or crust or bread etc. It's great, clean, good for your system food, if you don't have nut allergies. I did notice commentary on the decor in other reviews. The food, however, is what you come there for...and its a cafe outside of the city...I found everything to be clean which is most important. And how rare to find food like this in these parts of town! A sustainable option though is to hire a nice architecture student whose forte is space and color relationships.

The ravioli is heavenly. The taco platter is yummy yummy yummy (though it could use some kick). The margherita pizza is surprising and quite good (get the buckwheat crust, not oat). The chocolate/coconut pudding is better than any Bill Cosby schilled wannabe could even attempt to be(Yeah, that's right! Eat your heart out, cooked pudding!) If you're raw, then this place is the most wonderful luxury of all. Though they do use flour tortillas and very hot water for their soups, EVERYTHING else is raw and vegan. No littany of questions to ask, no eyebrow-raising subsitution requests to negotiate. Just sit your butt down, peruse the menu, pick something that sounds good, and stuff your face! If you're cooked (meat eating or not) you'll likely still enjoy your meal. The food is tasty and interesting, and though it might not ever become your favorite restaurant, you'll likely be pleased that you checked it out. Several points of note: 1. Even if you swear by it, love it, adore it in its cooked form, don't order the raw hummus. Uncooked chickpeas are nast. Plain and simple. 2. Raw does not mean cheap. Bring a wad. 3. I don't reccommend the lasagana special (made even more foul by the $19 pricetag). 4. If you're allergic to nuts, don't bother with a trip here. Pretty much everything on the meny has nuts or seeds of one sort or another.

best organic/raw food i've ever had! i've been coming here for years now and it just keeps getting better. a little on the pricey side but the food is so delicious it's worth it. the mini sunburgers are INCREDIBLE as are the little tasty coconut date rolls for dessert! if you like chai - you MUST try theirs, it's to die for. pretty much anything i've ever tried has rocked my world.
