i was excited after reading all the reviews on here, but our experience wasn't very good. my bf's omelette was raw in the middle! the Portuguese sweet bread french toast wasn't good. it was more fluffy and less sweet than normal good Portuguese sweet bread. almost like fluffy french bread. i mean, it wasn't sweet at all! and it was white inside instead of yellow, like p.s.b. is. the home fries were undercooked as well. though the high quality wheat bread toast was a treat. the waitress was great. we found the service to be wonderful. but mostly, we wondered why it was so busy all the time when the food just wasn't good at all.

Not bad, the food was quick and good, service was very nice but for my money I'll go to the City Side Diner in Beverly Center instead - better value.

I don't want to give a good review because the place is already mobbed on a daily basis for being SOOOOO GOOOOOD! Ha ha ha! So, find another place, pal! This place is OURS! :D Food is consistent, varied menu with standard offerings & some different specials - breakfast to lunch, some delicious Greek offerings, great service (staff is always friendly & prompt).... Our ONLY complaint is that the place is "too small" (at least for the crowds they amass!) & if you go "too late" (I'm not telling you the time to be there ;) ) you'll be waiting in line for awhile (see what I mean about not wanting to tell everyone how awesome they are??). So there you have it. Depot Diner rocks & you shouldn't go there. :D Ha ha ha!! If you do - you'll really like it. :)

Solid local breakfast joint! Sidenote: I've only been here for breakfast/brunch, not lunch! If you come on a Saturday or Sunday, be prepared to wait 20 minutes. The staff is friendly, and the service is great-your coffee will be refilled before you realize it. The omelettes are HUGE and packed with flavor and goodies; this is definitely something you can share. If you're on a budget, get the breakfast sandwich in all it's oozy, cheesy glory. Great for groups, kid-friendly, and if you're like me, you can laugh kind of loud without feeling bad.

Dined on a Friday a bit before 2 pm. Upon arrival, the diner was about 75% full and we were greeted immediately at the door and seated at a booth. Our waitress arrived fairly quickly and was very friendly. Breakfast is served all day and though I was tempted with the breakfast offerings, I opted for the grilled steak tips over chopped greek salad and my friend the grilled salmon over Caesar. Since we were eating so healthy, we decided on a side of steak fries after seeing them being served at a nearby table. :-) The salads were very fresh with ample greens. My friend asked for her Caesar dressing on the side but it came with the dressing on instead. Her salmon was slightly overcooked for her and my taste but my steak tips were cooked perfectly (medium) and were tasty and tender. The steak fries were meaty and hot! Overall, we were pleased with our lunches. The only negative was the slightly over cooked salmon. About $35 including tip, tap water as drinks. We'd definitely return again to try some of their other offerings!

Love that they use a high tech system for crowd control. The system they have texts you when your table is ready so you can wait in your car etc. This work flawlessly for us. We hung out in the car and chatted with the kids till our table was ready. The booths are huge and easily held 6 grown adults. We all loved our meals from sweet to savory. We think this is a solid choice for excellent breakfast even if it there is a bit of a wait for a table.

Wow... Let me start off by saying this place is great. If people are complaining about waiting a long time to be seated on the weekend there is a big reason for that. It's because (A) the place is so damn good, so everyone flocks here (B) The place only has so many seats for guests... SO STOP COMPLAINING. Now... I went for breakfast on a Monday morning and got the corn beef hash omelet which was probably the best corn beef hash omelet I have ever had in my life, even the cheese was awesome. This omelet came with a side of crispy hash browns and a choice of toast (Dark Rye). My waitress was very nice and had great customer service skills. She also was very attentive and checked in, she also didn't make us wait for the bill (CHEAP). I would recommend coming here on an off day so you can enjoy yourself. I will most likely return here for some quality breakfast. Also this place is awesome for lunch I got a pastrami sandwich here that was awesome.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Well worth the visit. The portions are generous. The service is friendly. The price is right.

Food is good. Service varies. Always pretty fast and attentive. I prefer the day and afternoon crew but the late night crew has to deal with more. They are open late too overnight Friday and Saturday

So far, so good. New to it but great experience. Clean, friendly staff and terrific food. I enjoyed it and plan to go back for a big breakfast again soon. Keep up the good work!

Top notch brunch but be prepared to wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This is one of the most popular brunch spots in the Beverly-Salem area. I am a huge fan of the blueberry pancakes and the cheeseburger patty melt. Everytime I am in town, I stop on by for some great eats. You should too!

Our favorite go to spot in Beverly. Food, service and atmosphere are all great! You cannot go wrong!

  • William G.

My wife and I came here for a late breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs over hashbrowns, and she ordered a veggie omelette. I also had a side order of sweet Portuguese bread French toast, which was probably the best one I've had in a long time. This place is friendly, with fast and efficient service and friendly staff. I still prefer the trailer/diner atmosphere, but Depot diner will definitely not disappoint.

Love this place. Wicked good food! Only wish it was larger so there wasn't such a wait everyday no matter what day or what time you go. I love having my breakfasts out at diners and this place is top of my list. I just wish the wait wasn't so long so I could get my husband & 3 children to go w/me more often! I also wish they were open ALL DAY instead of closing at 3:00 pm. To be so busy and close at 3:00 pm seems like a huge wasted loss in profit, but what do I know?! I've only been a small business owner for 10 years myself. It's so great to get breakfast any time between 6:00 am & 3:00 pm... And all of you out there like me that love "breakfast for dinner" I'm sure would agree that there is just not enough places out there that serve breakfast after 11:00 am never mind after 3:00 pm. (Unless you like flies in your face and unwashed spoons at a Denny's)! Try this diner & you won't be disappointed!

I stopped here on my way to the commuter train to Boston. Great choice on the menu and they have the option to make you any omelette combination you want - excellent for my Paleo lifestyle. I had the meat lovers and added broccoli and mushrooms. The service was great (they brought me extra water for tea and a to go cup, and I had my food in less than 10 minutes and it was busy) and the quality of food was also good. And it was only $11.44 without tip. I'm eating here every morning instead of at the hotel!

This place is amazing! Food is the best I've had. Decor is new and very very clean. Bright and sunny which I like. Bathroom is pristine (hate a dirty bathroom) My 7 yr old daughter says the French toast with Nutella is GREAT! Will be recommending to everyone I know. Wish it was in Salem where I am. Have to add that our usual spot is Reds for breakfast and I enjoys this much more. Think the food and presentation of the food was much better. And the service was 100% better than Reds.

Pretty good breakfast. Not greasy, not dirty, no grumpy waitstaff. I've come to expect the dirty silverware in breakfast dives, but not here! It's nice inside, relaxed and they actually have good coffee. I almost always hate diner coffee (yet always order it) - but theirs is decent. I think their prices are ok... A bit more than I expected, but fair for what you get. Breakfast sandwiches are the most affordable "deal" on the menu and my friend enjoyed hers. The French toast is good, but could have used more cinnamon. Potatoes were not crispy enough, but were cooked through, so they were fine.

Best turkey Reuben! Great hash. Service is spot on and if you get there and there is a wait, stick it out as they move the tables quickly and the wait is typically less than they quote you. Delicious!

Pretty decent little place. Nothing to fancy and nothing to overly exciting. Better then Ihop and Dennys. Long wait times if you go on the weekend so prepare yourselves for that.

Great breakfast. Love their omelets and home fries. Whenever I come home to Beverly, I stop by at least once for breakfast. If you're hungry, you'll get plenty to eat. It's a popular place and can get filled up. But it's worth the wait.

This place makes driving to Beverly almost bare able. Great price, great food and the service is amazing. Everyone was so friendly. From the hostess to the waitresses everyone was so nice and extremely hard working. One of the waitstaff looked Greek and you know they are 3 input ladies. It's nice to see a super successful business incorporate a little technology to be even MORE successful. They have an app on the iPad and text u when your tables ready.. so you don't have to stand there waiting for them. You can quickly get out of beverly and check our Hamilton and all its splendor. Wife and I got the equivalent of the Lumberjack, 10 bucks and 2 huge plates of food. My rating is as follows. Eggs-10. Perfect scrambled eggs. Pancakes-6. Tough and dense. Pretty shocked by this. I loaded with butter and syrup and all was well. But now I am more jiggly in my man booby region. Potatoes- 8- Tasty, and not too greasy, unassuming, elegant yet not overstated. Coffee-10- just perfect. I like my coffee the way I like my woman, bitter and murky. JK I drink it black, and hopefully my daughter takes hers with TONS of cream. Who am I kidding, I'm routing for a Glass of milk from Manchester. Sausage-10- like mine, fat and spectacular flavor. This place is definitely worth trying again and again. Warmly, Mr Ipswich

Best breakfast in Beverly, without a doubt... hence why the line is always so long. Large portion size, many offerings on the menu, and friendly service. I also really enjoy coming here for lunch.

My husband and I stopped here the morning after our wedding at Tupper Manor. I was surprised to find such an incredible breakfast spot in this location. The staff were very friendly, there was no wait at 10:30AM on a monday, despite a very full house! The coffee and iced tea were both excellent, and food was out of this world. They had accommodations for those with gluten allergy, in the form of gluten free bread for toast and for french toast. The waitress was well informed about which menu items were safe for someone with a gluten allergy, and I ended up going with the Spinach, tomato, and feta omelette- which was the best omelette I have ever eaten. If you are near the depot diner definitely make a trip out!

Not what I expected, its not a diner feel, in a pretty non descript strip mall, atmosphere like Dennis almost. I was not expecting a lot from the food when I walked in (I'm a sucker for the cute cramped crash spoon style diner) but was really pleasantly surprised. Scrambled eggs were obviously real eggs not beaters, and generous portion of really good bacon. Home fries were home fries, wish they had hashbrowns but that's just me. French toast was the big Texas toast style. Service was perfect for the morning, not too chipper or overbearing but very friendly and efficient.

Got here Sunday at 1pm and the place was packed. We were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes. The estimate was right on target...35 minutes. I liked that they took our mobile number to call us when the table was ready. Turns out they have call-ahead seating, but only for parties of 8 or more. Initially went here for breakfast, but I decided on lunch and got the Grilled Chicken Milano with a side salad. There is an upcharge for the salad, but it was still under $10. The sandwich was great...moist chicken, plenty of prosciutto and roasted peppers, and fresh roll. And the salad was thankfully more than just lettuce and a couple of tomatoes. The other person in the party had the Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict, which looked fantastic and something I'll likely get next time. The waitress was attentive and quick, and the food arrived in no time. I'll definitely be back.

Huge portions, excellent food, friendly staff, what's more to ask for? This was my first time here, and needless to say I was very impressed. The menu has a ton of great selections, plenty of the usual indulgences but also low-cal options too. Will definitely be back!

THE best place for breakfast/lunch in the North Shore, in my opinion. Lines tend to be long, but go quickly. They have little waiting area, but people will line up outside to wait to get food (rarely have I waited longer than 20 minutes even with a stretched line) Every time I decide to go elsewhere, I know the food will be worse. Fantastic staff. Fantastic food. Amazing selection and they're extremely efficient. I will always give 5 stars when I will go out of my way and drive past alternatives for a meal. This is one of those. I will drive WELL out of my way to go to Depot Diner AND wait out in the freezing cold with my family to eat here.

  • Jennifer M.

Food is pretty good. Expect a way longer than normal wait time and its very loud and lots of tables are packed into the room so the next table is practically in your conversations. Other than that service and food and price are great.

stopped in on our way to the beach on memorial day monday- wait was just over 30 mins and it seemed that all the locals go here- the owner/ manager at the host stand was very welcoming and our server was fantastic!! good coffee- small mugs but refills were on point- ordered 2 eggs with bacon and the hubby had the corn beef- both were delic and would highly recommend! i can see why the place is so popular- looking forward to trying this during lunch

the place was packed on a weekday morning. can't imagine weekends. the place is a decent size and it's well kept. our waitress was kinda friendly but she was clearly favoring the elderly customers and the regulars. we had to flag her down for everything so service wasn't the best but she wasn't rude. but the food was good. all our orders were a good size and the price was good too. unlimited coffee was $1.90. we enjoyed the eating experience. maybe next time the service will be better.

Best place in town for breakfast or lunch everything is made fresh nothing frozen or premade. Husband and I go there every day for either breakfast or lunch !! : ) The food is outstanding .

Best diner on the North Shore. Although, I would not categorize this place as a diner. Here's why. The food is fresh and Delicious. The place is immaculate. No diner grease build up. The staff is Efficient and Courteous. I really like this place. Eat. Pay. Return. Repeat.

Always a good breakfast. Best to ask for Omlettes to be lightly cooked as they tend to be a bit overcooked otherwise. The Salmon eggs Benedict are a fave of mine. Great waitstaff

    (4)
  • Derek S.

The breakfast food is delicious. The four stars are for the food. Minus one star for the stoic staff who are looking for people to eat quickly so they can get more tables filled.

    (4)
  • Thomas G.

Quite possibly the most Beverly location in Beverly outside of Nick's Roast Beef. You can't seriously call yourself a diner and not be able to make a decent side of home fries. The few times I've been here (or, more accurately, ordered take-out since no man should wait an hour to be seated for breakfast) I've been subjected to the culinary curiosities of undercooked home fries, raw red onion smothered all over my Eggs Benedict, and unremarkable pancakes. It's far too fussy to be a greasy spoon and too mediocre to be worth the wait.

    (2)
  • Ken A.

Probably the best breakfast place on the North Shore. Corned beef hash eggs benedict was very good, just the right amount and well balanced. Hash browns were also very good, crispy and not greasy. Service was fast and friendly. Only downside, if there is one, is the wait to get in. But that's par for the course with a good breakfast place.

    (4)
  • D A.

The Depot Diner is one of the best spots on the North Shore for breakfast. The omelets and pancakes are excellent. The bacon is always prepared well, not limp and not burned. They have a lot of choices on the menu as well and the prices are moderate. The service is always friendly and they are always coming by to keep the coffee warm. So why is it four stars and not five. The home fries always need more time on the grill and thet don't have a lot of flavor. Most come simply white with no crispy edges so they taste as if they were only steamed. The home fries are important so I had to knock off a star.

  • Deborah G.

Great restaurant! Had an awesome chicken salad wrap today for lunch and have had breakfast and lunch there many times! Now if they only had a liquor license! Lol. Great service too!

  • Kyle M.

Excellent breakfast spot. Get here early because lines start to form. My go to is the eggs over hash, definitely give it a shot. Everything here is done right and service is always great!

    (5)
  • Doug I.

Everything was great! My kids loved the eggs. Some things are a little plain which was disappointing (Homestyle Pancakes, home fries) but everything was well made. Service was great. What lets this place down is the size and the wait. There is only one small bench for waiting (25 minutes on a Saturday mid morning) so bring a jacket to wait outside. A bigger dining area would mean less wait.

    (4)
  • David D.

Well, I have to say that this place has the all time BEST cheesebugrer I have ever eaten!!!!! The hours are strictly breakfast and lunch, so I don't get to eat there that often but like the rest of the reviews...this restaurant is special. I've had breakfasts here that were incredible but the real highlight is the blessed cheeseburger! It's huge with onions and mushrooms and a pickle along with amazing french fries. It's a little small for seating but if you are in the area, you have to give this place a try. You won't be dissapointed in any way. :)

    (5)
  • Jessica W.

Classic Beverly breakfast. Such great food. You can tell the ingredients are all extremely fresh. I didn't even get anything that extravagant, just eggs, bacon, and toast. They threw in complimentary fruit alongside it at no charge! The portions are all huge, which for a breakfast is always appreciated. The prices are very reasonable, and I will certainly be back again soon.

    (4)
  • J C.

Great for breakfast or lunch . Large portions and food is really good. Place is small for the large crowds that come but worth the wait!

  • Niko D.

Great place for breakfast. Place is pretty much always packed, which is a good sign that the food is awesome. I have gone in for lunch a couple times and have not been dissapointed. Everyone working here is very helpful.

  • Alexandra R.

This is the city's quintessential breakfast joint. The family that owns and runs this small haven in North Beverly is Greek, and with Grecian blood comes an incredible skill for cooking food at inhuman speeds, and not only is the service fast, but the food itself is indescribably good. Quality ingredients, rich coffee, and fresh juices. And the portions are vast enough to take home and continue for lunch, if need be. However, if you are my father, food enough for leftovers rarely makes it through the feeding frenzy. The staff is friendly, if flushed and harried. They attend to your every need, though they have been known to miss the occasional water refill. They do, however, understand the importance of a full coffee mug. Prices are excellent for the amount of food.

after living in the Northshore for a few years now, and eating at the Depot Diner so many times I can't count....I guess the noise I reviewed back then didn't really bother me too much. I love LOVE the service. Every waitress is so perky, helpful and nice they must be mainlining coffee in the kitchen. Host is always attentive and ready to get you the best table--especially with the waits. Food--best veggie wrap for lunch, omelets are the absolute best! My breakfast buds tell me the french toast is to die for, and recently we ate the lamb and it was amazing (yes, Lamb!) This place is consistent and really, really good.....and yes, as I said before, it is loud...filled with happy eaters.

  • Starla B.

We knew it had to be good with the 51 reviews on Yelp and holding 4.5 stars. Then we knew it had to be great with all the folks standing and waiting on Black Friday to get in. It is a small place but well worth it. I got the corned beef omelette and my husband got the polish omelette. Both were amazing! Eggs perfectly done and so were the additions. I am not a big corned beef fan however I loved it. Very tasty! The home fries are basically what I grew up on ... Pan fried, crunchy in parts and tender all the way through. Well done, Diner Depot.

  • Dustin N.

My favorite breakfast spot AND its right near my job? Excellent! The food is always great whether it be breakfast or lunch. its not uncommon to see the owners come out from the kitchen just to check on everything in the dining room and make sure all their customers are happy with their food and service. Haven't met a waitress or waiter who hasn't been happy and extremely helpful. Service with a smile is always a huge plus! some people are turned off by a wait but i assure you it is always worth it. I'll take this place over any other breakfast spot in Beverly, hands down. matter of fact... I'm going to order some take out right now!

  • Michael T.

The service is great! Breakfast and lunch are delicious and consistent. Always worth the wait for a table. For eggs benedict lovers, a wide selection of options in that category alone.

OH, just gilding the lily here, but I just had eggs florentine with canadian bacon, and a pile of great home fries, a great cup of coffee - for 10 bucks. And they liberally buttered the English muffin with REAL BUTTER before plopping on my canadian bacon, spinach, perfectly poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Did I mention I like this place?

The Depot Diner is definitely not as good as the reviews might suggest. I have eaten food from this spot a number of times now, and have been disappointed each time. I have tried breakfast sandwiches and and omelettes, and neither impressed. I order bacon, egg, and american cheese on a "very, very, very, very, very" well done sesame bagel. It was soggy and not well done. The last time I ate there I ordered this item and mentioned that I had previously ordered it and requested the bagel to be crispy and well done and that it was soggy. I really stressed the importance of a crispy well done bagel and yet again it was soggy, soft, and sub par. The overall taste of the breakfast sandwich is decent, not great but not bad by any means. Similarly, the bacon, egg, and american cheese egg white omelette was average. Let me preface my omelette review by saying that I am the omelette nazi, with very specific tastes when it comes to this dish. I like them very thin, almost exclusively with american cheese, and if the egg to cheese ratio is off I am not a happy diner. At the Depot Diner they do this weird thing where they wrap the bacon around the omelette, which results in only part of the bacon being inside it. Not a fan, as I want a good 3-4 pieces of bacon contained within the omelette, and if you want to throw an extra piece on top ok. But the 3/4 wrap 1/4 inside situation didn't do it for me. Again, the taste was decent but they don't put in enough bacon, and even with extra bacon, as I had once, the wrapping issues isn't resolved. The bottom line is that I could make the same omelette for much cheaper and it would taste better, so why get it there anymore? Maybe...the homefries? No thanks. Again, i'm extremely picky when it comes to this topic. I wonder how anyone accepts soggy half cooked homefries at breakfast. Yet, every day thousands and thousands of people wolf down soggy undercook potato shit. Anytime I go out for breakfast I enthusiastically request that the home fries are well done, and when I did this at the Depot DIner, they failed miserably. Soggy undercooked potatoes came with my omelette, despite my sincerest efforts to have them well done. So I wouldn't really recommend this place, unless there is nothing better in Beverly, my search continues, suggestions welcomed.

I recently stayed in Beverly while visiting Salem for Halloween. Luckily our hotel was directly across the street from the Depot Diner. I ate here twice during my weekend visit. The food was fantastic both times. There tends to be a 15 minute wait for a table but it's worth it. Great service and great food.

Bumping this review up. 3.5 stars. Went back recently on a Friday morning before the ladyfriend had to catch a train. While I still refuse to call this place a diner, and I am withholding a star just because of that fact, I was very pleased for this go round. Coffee was great and constantly refilled, omelet was hefty and tasty, and the toast was like real toast, not the stuff I was given the time before. Although they got the order wrong (regular eggs when I asked for egg whites), I was still pleased with the meal. I still don't buy that this is the best place in town for breakfast, but it is pretty good and I wouldn't discourage anyone from getting in there when it isn't busy. I wouldn't recommend being one of those people that lines up outside the door on the weekends. It isn't worth that much. - Juggernaut served with a diner, he knows a diner, he's friends with a diner. Depot Sir, you are not a diner. ...But you're still good.

LOVED IT! We are from NY originally, so the term "diner" invokes images of free-standing metallic edged concoctions with revolving pie displays serving B, L &D, not a storefront in a strip mall that serves only B & L - BUT, we were pleasantly surprised. Very busy, very clean. Service to start a bit slow, they were not 100% full but certainly busy, but revved up as the meal (late breakfast) progressed. HUGE menu and quite reasonable. I misread the menu and noticed an unexpected layer of hollandaise on my dish, and the server had no issue whatsoever exchanging it for a hollandaise-less dish. She barely blinked, no 'tude at all. Excellent home fries, different from the usual. My husband had an artery-clogging omelette, but once in a while, I suppose I can look the other way (as they scrape the fat off my poached eggs...) Bright, clean and vibrant place that we will return to!

Quick, delicious, and inexpensive. Went with friends ~12 on a Saturday. We were sat right away. We had a cute and peppy waitress who was happy to make suggestions and joke around with us. I got the classic eggs Benedict. It was delicious. I ate everything on my plate, and did everything short of lick it. t was perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was just right. The BF got the gorgonzola burger as he is slightly anti-breakfast. He really enjoyed it. Tasty and cheap. We would certainly head back, but I may suggest a new name. Whoever named it was confused as to what a diner is.... regardless of the name, it was damn good.

Thank you Depot Diner. Sometimes, I have a guest and wanna go out for breakfast. But the thing is that in Beverly, there were no diners till Depot came in few years ago. This place is awesome!! it's always crowded (this is a good sign in beverly!!) and once in a while, I would go with a friend to have a nice hot coffee with vege omelet for breakfast and just catch up. ambiance: it doesn't have your typical diner feel at all...my parents are big diner ppl and i used to go diners all the time in nyc. this place just feels like a typical restaurant. But the food is good and fresh so can't complain.

I come from a town where every weekend we tried a diner, we loved a good bloody, meat plates, thick french-toast, all kinds of egg benedicts with crab and such... I miss those days... I have kids... I do not live in a huge city... and my only comfort is Depot Diner. The food is so good and comforting... it is just like a place I would go to in Chicago called "the breakfast club" Thank God for Greek Diners!!!! They have incredible home cooked lunches.. like lamb, pot roast.. you know what I am talking about. I just wish I was Greek when I go in there... alas, I am Irish and can not cook like this. CC

This is the best breakfast i have ecer had in my life! It's not even a doubt in my mind! I waited 15 minutes for this breakfast and trust me, i would have waited an hour. I was escourted tomy table and it was an awesome atmosphere and everybody looked content and satisfied. I would invitably understand why. I ordered the classic eggs benedict which was two poached eggs with hollandaise, bacon, and a toasted english muffin. The yolk poured out when i cut it open and it tasted like heaven with the mix of the salty bacon and heavenly hollandaise. The egg was perfectly poached and i walked out very content, satisfied, and knowing this was the best breakfast i have ever eaten.

Saturday morning a bit after 8 and we got seated right away. The food was fantastic! This is NOT a greasy spoon. The over easy eggs were spot on cooked perfectly. The corned beef hash omelet with Swiss cheese was one of the best omlets ever! Coffe was great and kept flowing. Toast was not drowned in some sort of junk tasted like real butter. Home fries were nice and just crispy enogh and the side of bacon was not greasy. Awesome experience!

The banana pancakes are delicious. I go for the breakfast which is delicious. This is one of my husband's favorite places because of the large portions plus the great prices. The wait staff are always friendly, even though they are very busy. This is one of the best places for breakfast in the area.

Fresh food, excellent value, incredibly friendly and prompt service. They'll adjust the menu items as you'd like and they are always acommodating (I'm a bit of a pain in the butt!).

Do and Don'ts Do ask for Mary .. she rocks!! Do go for Breakfast but go early on weekends Do get the salads with chicken , or shrimp or whatever they are all good. Do get the beef stew....great stuff! Don't get the pancakes! Don't go late in the morning (after 8 on weekends) Don't sweat the missing star it is for not so good pancakes and bland ,wimpy home fries other than that the place is great! Don't pass it up

I am a huge fan of breakfast and the Depot Diner delivers. I can't get enough of this place! I've been several times including this morning and they have amazing eggs benedict that can be served about 6 different ways. The best is the eggs benny on corn beef hash. Mmm! Although I have not tried it for myself, a family member highly recommends the Portuguese french toast (think super thick slices!!) Keep in mind this is diner-style dining (although I must say the atmosphere is pretty nice). The waitresses are friendly for the most part and service is quick and efficient. My new favorite breakfast spot!

Recent visits since my first review have knocked a star off of this place. The food is still good - but that's it, just "good". Now normally, the nice environment (a clean diner!?) yet still reasonable prices would hold a 4 for me. Unfortunately though, this place is just ridiculously busy, and I have waited every single time I've been there. Last time it was 30 minutes for 3 people. I will gladly wait 30 minutes for a great dinner. But when it's mid Sunday morning and I'm starving and need to start my day, it's frustrating and a waste of time to sit around waiting for a "good" omelet.

Here's what I like: The two eggs combo is great. Fluffy potatoes, not too greasy, eggs okay, french toast what french toast should be, with plenty of butter and sugar on top. Pretty good bacon, too. In general, the food is good, a cut above a standard diner. The staff is friendly and attentive. Here's the catch: I've waited an hour to be seated 2 out of the 3 times I've eaten here. Because of restaurant layout, people need to stand outside for the duration of the wait. Summary: If a long wait doesn't bother you, you can get a good breakfast here. Would I go back? Since food needs to be amazing for me to wait this long, I will probably skip this diner in the future.

Ok, well my experience here was horable. The place was jam packed and loud as hell. I don't eat eggs, so I went with toast, bacon and hash browns. The hash was not crispy, it was mushy, the bacon was all pure fat, and the toast wasn't even really toasted, it was more like bread. Also, the drink sizes are very small. Maybe I'll try it again, but not anytime soon.

Ever been to a Greek diner and not seen a picture of the Acropolis? That's the Depot Diner in a nutshell. Everything is diner like here but with cool furnishings. The food is perfect almost all the time. I don't do breakfast as for some reason it always reminds me on being hungover... but the few b-fast items I have had have far exceeded that icky feeling and I liked them. Always look for Mary the waitress. She is there every minute and when she finishes her shift here she goes behind the building to work at the Garden City Pub... which is owed by the same people.

I honestly really enjoy this very cute diner. The food is always really good (except for the pancakes, see Geoff M's review below), and the service is quick and very efficient. As others have mentioned, there is occasionally a wait for a table on the weekends, but it really is worth it. A great place for families and groups. I have also had their lunch, and it is very good. And, they accept credit cards. Honestly, they get a star for being (maybe) the only breakfast place in Beverly that does.

This is a 3.5 for me. I got the quiche which came with a nice portion of fruit salad. The quiche had bacon, broccoli, onions and I think some ham. It was real tasty, and they brought me a quarter of the entire quiche. I mean it the thing had a right angle. Def enough for 2 to share. The staff were friendly and the service was wonderful. The only thing I did not like was the atmosphere. It's like a dressed up hospital caf. And Bright Yellow. nice prices though.

One of my favorite places to eat, without a doubt. Everything I've ordered has always been delicious, and in generous portions too. The wait staff is very friendly, as is the owner who is almost always there. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they are only open until 3pm. I wish they opened later in the morning and stayed open for dinner. I don't think you can really call yourself a proper "diner" if you're only open until 3pm. If they were open late they would be a juggernaut on the north shore.

.Good Service, Clean, Bright environment, great menu. The food here is great for a diner, The Banana Pancakes were awesome. All the food was served fresh and hot. Definitely one of the best breakfast places in the area.

I haven't had anything except the corned beef hash eggs benedict. And I won't ever try anything else here because it is SO GOOD. Seriously filling though. If you eat the whole thing for breakfast you will be back in bed again. Best cure for a hangover = Depot Diner induced food coma.

We ate here today for a late lunch. The food was really good, but we were aggravated greatly by the lack of shades or blinds on their huge windows! We could barely see our food and there were people sitting with big sunglasses on while eating, while others were shielding their eyes with their free hand. Now, I ask you: why not spring for a few good blinds that can at least block that afternoon sun? Really ruined our lunch and such an easy fix!

"Excellent! Nice atmosphere, a bit of a wait (30 minutes on Labor Day @ 10am). Totally worth the wait! When was the last time a waitperson in a diner asked you how you want your omelette cooked - firm or a little loose? Or how you want your hash browns cooked? We'll be back to the Depot Diner!

I LOVE breakfast food, and this is one of the best places for it. If you go before 10am on a weekend, expect at least a 20 minute wait, but it's worth it. Good service, HUGE portions. For a diner, I found it to be a little pricey, but that's also because we ordered way more than we needed. The omelets are huge, the bacon is delicious, they're willing to make (and peel for you!) hard boiled eggs, and the french toast is great. The hash has a great crispy top, and the large OJ is huge, not the teeny glasses a lot of diners give you.

I suppose I could be considered a regular now. I have probably been going to the Depot Diner fairly regularly since they opened. Most of the time I go there with my next door neighbors and now the host thinks they are my parents, lol. I am not a food critic but here goes my first review... Well, I usually order Eggs Benedict Florentine with extra crispy home fries (extra crispy is key for me). Sometimes I'll switch it up and order a breakfast sandwich or Portuguese Sweet Bread French Toast but no matter what I ordered the food is always excellent and the servers have always been very attentive. Yes, the Depot Diner is usually very busy. But guess what; for a restaurant/diner that usually means that there is something worth eating at the end of the wait. Also, the wait is not necessarily a bad thing in my point of view. It gives me more time to converse with the people I am with; usually I go eat brunch with people I like so it's actually a good thing. ;) Oh, and if you want to avoid the longer wait times go between when they open and 9:30 AM. I've learned that when pressed for time and I want to avoid the wait anything before 9:30 AM will yield less than a 10 minute wait. For those that took stars off for the Depot Diner having long waits go a bit earlier or learn to use the wait times for something enjoyable. =) I hope you like this place as much as I do. Oh, if you ever go and order off the lunch menu their rendition of Chicken Pot Pie is to die for!

Went to breakfast on Sunday morning with some friends who were visiting from Boston. Had to wait a bit outside, about 10 minutes. The service was a bit slow, I think the waitress was busy with other tables since they were packed. Once I got the food I realized it was worth the wait! Two eggs combo: Two scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, and Home fries. The French Toast was perfect, light and fluffy and very delicious I didnt even realize I had forgotten syrup until I was halfway done (I usually cant touch it without syrup elsewhere). The home fries were perfectly cooked, some places undercook them and which makes them feel heavier and just blah. I actually enjoyed the home fries rather than just having them as a filler. The bacon was good, cant really mess up bacon very easily. The eggs were eggs. I also ordered a side of hash which was good, but not necessary as I had more than enough with the two eggs combo. My fiance ordered one of the eggs benedicts with tomatoes (they have a couple of different types of eggs benedicts. I tried a bit of that and was very pleasantly surprised, the tomatoe definetly breaks it up well and adds a nice touch. I was very impressed with this place overall and am very anxious to go back. I have to say this was one of the best if not the best breakfast I have ever had...in recent memory at least.

Best breakfast hands down I have ever had. No other diner compares to this place, everything they make it delicious. I am not a big fan of pancakes but their apple cinnamon pancakes with real apple are out of this world. Keep doing what you're doing, Depot Diner.

This is the perfect place to take the family for brunch. Every time we have been there (and we go all the time) the staff is incredibly friendly, the food is excellent , the place is clean and they are very kid friendly. Sometimes there is a wait for a table but it is always worth it.

Great service. Delicious food (Tuna melt + potato salad = to die for) Always super busy on the weekends, sometimes up to a 20 minute wait. But it's worth it. I tried some of my other half's egg's Benedict and it was mouth watering! They make their own hash with a very different taste to it but it is delicious none the less.

  • Kathy M.

Always consistently good. Expect to wait for brunch on weekends as everybody and his dog come here for breakfast; however, the line moves quickly and the food is worth the wait. The French toast is excellent. The peach oatmeal is delicious....more like dessert than breakfast. The service is great, coffee is hot and good. Go!

Bright and cheerful place serving large, very reasonably priced selections. Great variety for omelet and bread selections. All breakfast and lunch options looked enticing! Neither your tummy nor your wallet will be empty when you leave!

Cheap, delicious and with a great variety of breakfast foods it's always a staple for people visiting from out of town or for a nice weekend breakfast. The service is warm and friendly but beware - they get really busy so arrive early. It's always worth the short wait and the host (who in my opinion looks like Cillian Murphy from Batman Begins) it always very attentive, polite and helpful. A favorite for sure.

I really like the Depot Diner; at first, I wasn't quite sure about the lay-out, but when I saw how quickly the place filled up, I appreciated how they incorporated as much seating as possible. While it's not the Stone Soup in terms of charm, the Depot is more than adequate for a great breakfast, plus it's airy and has huge windows that let in that early morning glow--or afternoon sun. They have a huge menu with so many options it will make your head spin. They do a great Irish Benedict, and their hash is spot-on. They also have creative dishes that allow you to eat the huge portions without worrying about spilling your food over the side. Eggs & sausage or waffles & pancakes, every breakfast I've had here has been just the right start to the day.

One of my new favorite breakfast/brunch places. The baked peach oatmeal is delicious, and the home fried potatoes, but I have yet to eat anything here that I didn't like. The place is frequently packed on weekends and usually there's a short wait for a table. But, if it's nice weather the benches outside next to the rose bushes allow you to soak in a bit of sun before breakfast.

  • Mike L.

Great breakfast and cheap. You get a ton of food. Only drawback is how busy it can get. Go really early or after 10:00. tables are really close together so when it's busy you can feel a little claustrophobic.

While visiting Danvers from out of town we found Depot Diner on Yelp. While we had to wait 20 minutes (because of their popularity on Sunday morning) it was worth it! Great breakfast; the chef even made the rounds checking on people and thanking them for coming out -- very nice touch. Wish this was closer to home!

I am a regular here, I have been going 2 or 3 times a month for the last couple of years. The atmosphere is great, I just wish there were more place to sit so I wouldn't have to wait outside everytime. I don't know why people complain about there pancakes I think that they are great. The homefries tend to be hit or miss. My wife loves the quiche and the coffee and recomends them to everyone. Overall it is a great place get there early on the weekend if you want to get in.

You cannot beat this place for breakfast. Great everything in terms of breakfast food. Never been there for lunch, but I don' t think I have to, I'm pretty sure it would be amazing. Clean, good prices, great atmosphere, just love it. Not to mention it is owned by a good family (the same one that owns the liquor store next door and Garden City Pub), which doesn't hurt them.

Ok. So we are regulars at the Depot Diner because the food is great, the service is great, the place is clean, the prices are fair, the staff is amazing and accomodating. Go for breakfast, go for lunch. They are usually busy with a wait because they are great - we don't mind waiting for a good meal and the friendly staff who appreciate your business. It can get a little crowded - wish they would expand. Favorites: Chicken Pot Pie, Spinach Pie, Chicken Lemon Soup These foodies give Depot Diner 5 stars.

The Depot Diner in North Beverly makes a very yummy breakfast. The menu is quite diverse, with all of the standard breakfast fare present, as well as a selection of tasty sounding quiches. I will personally vouch for the french toast, home fries, waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, coffee and omelettes. They also pour Tropicana Pure Premium OJ, which is not from concentrate, and gets the Geoffy seal of approval. I trust a breakfast place that doesn't cheap out on the OJ. One word of warning on the omelettes though, and my one complaint. Apparently the math for putting an additional .75 or $1 to add tomatoes or anything to one of the named omelettes on the menu is too hard for the Depot to handle. I always get tomatoes in an omelet, and when I ordered their meat-lovers omelet with tomatoes added the waitress informed me that the kitchen won't do that, and I have to get it as a "make your own omelette." I replied, "Do what you've got to do. I need my tomatoes." I should have asked what those tomatoes were going to cost me. The meat-lovers is on the menu at $6.99. I added a grilled plain bagel (very tasty) which added .75. When the bill came, my make your own omelette with bagel was $10.50. Subtracting the bagel, that's $2.76 for tomatoes. Trust me, there weren't that many tomatoes in there. Even still, I'll go back, because the food is quite good. I'll just order smarter next time. The only item not recommended is the pancakes. They're kinda plain, and Meg described them as "too heavy and kinda boring." The girl is a connoisseur of fine pancakes, and we trust her judgment implicitly. I mentioned Depot Diner to a friend, and her response was "So good! Don't get the pancakes." So there's a second. Prices are moderate. It's not the cheapest breakfast around, but you can spend more too. Portions are extremely generous, and you won't leave there feeling hungry. Don't be too put off by the large number of people waiting outside. Get your name on the list and sit tight and you'll be seated shortly. Service is generally very good, and Mary especially is a great waitress. 5 Stars, even with the tomato debacle of 2007.

Went there this am for breakfast with a friend and the waitress (Mary I think) didn't even blink an eye when we asked to share an omelette. Food and service were great and the place is meticulously clean.

DO NOT confuse this with the Beverly Depot Restaurant, which is located in an old train depot and has really mediocre food. This restaurant doesn't look like much but all of the food is FANTASTIC. The best breakfast around. Sunday around 10 a.m. there will be a long line of folks waiting to get in, so try to get there early. They are really efficient, though, and the line moves pretty quickly. All the food is top quality, ALWAYS. For lunch, I love their home made quiches because they are absolutely loaded with fresh veggies. Their omelettes and pancakes are also fantastic. Soups, including beef stew, just excellent. If you are looking for good quality and good service, this is where it's at in Beverly.

pros: Big portions, food is better than starbucks (at a better price too), nice staff, the atmosphere- lots of seating, high ceilings/big windows, and their location- close to MBTA/a lot of parking. cons: heavy/greasy feeling food, sweet stuff is too sugary, the line is always long.

I absolutely love this place. The food is always incredibly fresh and even though on first glance it appears to be 'just a diner,' the quality and taste of everything soon reveals otherwise. Every single time I go there, there is at least a 15 minute wait and I don't mind a bit. The service is incredible, warm, and always fast. The other day a large take-out order got called in in the middle of a packed restaurant and from the guest's view, the kitchen and wait staff didn't skip a beat! The server apologized to us for any delays it might cause, but there was no need. Professional, simple, delicious - couldn't love it more.

It shouldn't be that difficult when you order a burger medium rare you should get pink inside and juicy, not grey or well done and dry. HATE THAT! Maybe it continued to cook under the heat lamp, I don't know. It was busy & I didn't feel like waiting for another one, so I sucked it up. Felt bad lying to the guy when asked how everything was. Nice people though. Not sure if I'll return.

OMG this place was hopping but I honestly don't understand why. Took the kids here for brunch and the entire experience was a fiasco! These restaurants want you to notify them if you have dietary issues -- yet when I did (wanted toast instead of bacon) they wanted to "up charge me." Come on! Two slices of sourdough bread have GOT to be at least the same price if not cheaper than a couple of pieces of meat. I was given the excuse that "the computer" wouldn't let them!!! I ended up sitting there watching my kids eat!! Well if their computer won't let them do something like that hopefully this review on your computer won't let you go there!

What the French, Toast!? How have I not reviewed my all-time favorite breakfast spot!? Jeez.. The reason I even thought to check was I was having a hankering for their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on sesame bagel... yes, it's 9:15pm. Yes I already ate a late lunch at 4pm and a small dinner at 8pm. Yes I'm stuffed. None of those conventional, common-sensey things even enter the depotsphere when it comes to me and my breakfast sandwiches. This place makes my mouth water from 60 miles away (Worcester), and now 20 miles away (Medford) and no matter how many miles away, I will make time to make it there. Speaking of time, you won't spend too much in line, even on the busiest morning. Mayyyyyyybe the Saturday morning after Black Friday, but that's because all us Beverly kids are back in town and we all obviously know Depot Diner is the best local breakfast spot. You'll be seated by either an unnaturally tan man (owner?) or one of the sweet ladies practically jogging through the pretty generous dining space. Everything is clean, pretty new (not like Brothers' cafeteria-style outdated decor, I mean), and cozy. Then you'll look at the menu and once you come out of the swirling euphoria of overwhelming choices you can make a decision with the conviction that its going to knock your socks off. I've had omelets, scrambled eggs, but atop Mt. Delicious perches my beloved breakfast sandwich. Why am I so crazy about a stupid sandwich, you ask? The cheese is either cheddar or a cheddar blend, but it's generous and delicious. The egg is cooked just right and stays put on the bagel (seems simple but wait till you get one that slips out and then tell me this small note is no big deal). And the bagel is softer than fluff, grilled divinely, just buttery enough to be crisp and savory without making you think about how many miles you need to run later. The homefries are nothing to sneeze at/on either. They are awesome and cooked to order - as is everything here. Service with a smile, food you'd do unspeakable things for, minimal wait time and absolutely affordable prices. What's not to love??

I am a huge fan of the Depot Diner; everything they do is absolutely amazing. This place is without a shadow of doubt the best place for breakfast in Beverly. There is a reason that there is a line out the door on the weekends, once you eat there you will always come back. I would recommend to anyone looking for an great place to eat, to try this place out 5+ stars every time.

If for some reason I went broke and had no money to pay for breakfast, I would give my left kneecap for a Blackstone Eggs Benedict from Depot Diner. Every single time I go I have to wait at least 10 min. The prices are not cheap (but not terribly expensive). With that said, I would wait twice as long and pay twice as much and still be very happy. Once you get in, the food is consistently amazing (I've been at least 30 times and have never had an issue with the food), the portions are generous, and the service is great. My only recommendation would be to switch up the layout for more waiting space, and more privacy at the table. This is a must-eat place if you are visiting Beverly.

MY FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT!!!! Man-o-man this place is delicious! I'd go here every day if my wife would let me. Their food is top-notch! Home fries are delicious, omelets are great, I LOVE their big breakfast special (eggs, bacon, homefries, pancakes) but it's wayyyy too big for me to get often. I think their pancakes may be the highlight of their breakfast. However their lunches are just as great. If you happen to get a non-breakfast meal here, MAKE SURE YOU GET THEIR FRIES! THESE ARE THE TASTIEST FRIES I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! The fries are perfect, a light, slightly crispy shell on the outside, and almost as if the insides are filled with mashed potatoes. If you're coming here at 12, expect a long wait. But again, it's worth it! This place is busy most times we com, but from 1 on it seems to be pretty easy to walk in and get a table. Waitstaff is always nice and quick to refill your needs. Prices are great, and if you're craving their food and it's past their closing time...... apparently they own Garden City Pub right behind the building and the food is just as great!

I give Depot Diner a 5 star. I work nearby and it is such a treat to take out a sandwich from them. I get the Shirley Pastrami and it is the best sandwich I have ever had! I call ahead, it is ready, hot, they never forget the napkins, pickles, or ketchup with fries. t The Shirley Pastrami is a big thick pastrami sandwich with coleslaw, cheese, and russian dressing on a butter, grilled sour dough bread. Comes on rye but I opt for the other. Don't miss it...it is exceptional!

I have been to depot diner quite a few times now. I am extremely impressed with the cleanliness, the service, and most of all the food! Every time I sit down to eat there;I look around to see what other people are eating. From breakfast to lunch entrees the choices are endless and each item out does the next... And I find myself in a state of confusion not knowing weather I want to eat breakfast or lunch. Their food is incredibly fresh. Each dish is made to perfection. I decided on breakfast today; I got eggs over easy, hash browns, home fries..... My friend had ordered eggs Benedict. Absolutely outstanding. There truly is not a better diner in this area. You can sense the pride in that place. I love it there and highly recommend it.

We just moved to the area and noticed this place and how crowded it usually was and decided to try it out. Went at 8am on Sunday and there was already a wait! The food was excellent though. So was the service. We'll definitely be going back.

This place is amazing for breakfast and lunch. Large portions. Quick service. It is a popular place, anticipate a wait if you plan eating here. They have customer favorites indicated on the menu, which is big by the way. Anything from omelets to pancakes to sandwiches to baked haddock to ....... but I recommend not getting the side of kielbasa, because it's just a rip-off ($3.25) for one sausage. And part of my mom's home fries were burnt, when asking to get different home fries, the server seemed reluctant and came with a small plate of a little bit extra. Other than that, this place is great.

Best Food in Beverly! It's one of those restaurants you know you will never be disappointed. I have been here (NO lie) over 40 times. I go at least once a week and have yet to be dissatisfied. Nothing has ever been over cooked or under cooked. Always to perfection! The staff is super friendly, never with attitude, always humble and very fun to talk to. I have even taken home breakfast a few time (Omelets) still yummy and fresh when I get home! The pricing is perfect, not to high and no too low. Right in the middle. I would honestly recommend anything on the menu, if your going for breakfast, Their sweet bread french toast with a side of blueberries & strawberries are to die for, as well as their Banana Nut Bread Pancakes YUM! Very filling so be extra hungry when you go. Their omelets are all amazing. Try Blonde (Egg White) and you still will no be displeased. Overall I give them 6 stars (if I could), when your in the mood to eat look no further! Check them out!!

OK, I was in the area and came back. I really don't get the hype over this place. Food was not that good, and service terrible, not to mention the wait. There's way too many other places to hit for breakfast, than to wait here for just plain breakfast food. Next time I'm in the area, I'm driving right by.

The only thing bad about this place is the wait if you get there later in the morning on the weekends. There's a reason for the wait! The food I great! Very consistent and priced right, it's has been our absolute family go-to place for the last 2 years.

Far and away the best brunch in the greater Boston area. We've tried them all, and after being disappointed with the competition for years, we finally discovered Depot. Ever since, we've been making the drive out to Beverly from Melrose every weekend for sausage benedict, omelettes, and blueberry pancakes. Service is prompt and friendly, and while there's almost always a line on the weekend, we've rarely had to wait more than 15-20 minutes. You will not be disappointed.

This is our favorite breakfast spot in the area. The only negative is the wait. We've never gone and been seated quickly.

This has to be the best place to go for breakfast. I mean I order a side of bacon, and while I was fully expecting the two strips, I got FIVE. FIVE strips of bacon. I've never been so excited for breakfast in my life. The service is incredibly fast and friendly. I've ordered a few different things here and they have all been really incredible. This has to be my favorite breakfast stop so far in beverly. I'm also very pleased with their coffee I'm kind of a coffee snob and I can drink this coffee with out pouring a ton of cream and sugar in it which is how I rate how good coffee is. Its Inexpensive, Quick, Delicious and with lots of options...you really can't ask for more.
