If I could give ZERO STARS, I totally would. I am beyond livid right now. Last week, I was searching for somewhere to order from, and I came to Yelp to do so. I looked for places near Waltham, and I found Cafe Fiorella. I know that Belmont is the next town over, but wasn't sure exactly how far, so I called, and ASKED, specifically, if they deliver to my address (which I gave them) and was told YES. I called back when I decided what I wanted and I ordered. The food arrived, and it was relatively good, save for the antipasto, which was really a chef's salad with a peporocinni and a wedge of artichoke.... but overall, good stuff. I have diabetes, which normally wouldn't create an issue, but today, I was feeling a bit low and don't feel like cooking., so I called Cafe Fiorella, and I ordered for delivery. I was given a total, told I was all set, and that my delivery would be here in 30-35 minutes. Cool. That was at 5:10pm. At 5:35pm, I got a call from a cell phone asking me to "remind me where you are again, I haven't been there before.." and I told the dude where I was, and he sounded a bit older and kept calling me "dear" and it was REALLY CREEPY. Anyway, so I thank him for letting me know and say that I'd be calling to speak to the manager about that and I hung up on him and called the manager. I started speaking and the manager dude kept cutting me off LOUDLY when I was trying to explain to him that I hAD deliver from THEM before and that I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on. He screamed at me telling me I live in "east bumf*ck" and he can't be driving 20 minutes to deliver to me. He hung up on me, and I called back and again, tried to explain, firmly, but civilly, that I had delivery before and now he was losing business and food and the fact that he waited 45 %*&^)^ MINUTES to tell me he "couldn't deliver" when his driver was already out and about with my food was out of line. He screamed again, a lot and I told him he needed to stop screaming at me (at this point I was yelling at him, but he was literally SCREAMING and saying nasty, derogatory things to me) He hung up again. Please don't give this raving lunatic your business. ETA: Oh, and I goggle-mapped it. They are 5.3 miles away from me. If it takes 20 minutes each way, they must be traveling by snail.

Unexpected find! We ordered the garlic bread and chicken parm sandwich. The garlic bread must be based from thin crust pizza...very thin stylistically but still tasty (with less carbs). The red sauce was quite good for dipping. Chicken parm was tasty but could have used more sauce (a little dry). Delivery was earlier than they said. Seems pretty solid. Will try again (pizza? Chicken broccoli alfredo? I can't decide...)!

Ordered delivery here last night on Foodler. It was a little late when I ordered, just after 7pm. It estimated the food would arrive by 8pm, which wasn't ideal, but I figured it was probably going to come sooner because I lived only a couple minutes away. At 8:20pm I called them to check that the food was on the way. The person who answered the phone sounded unsure and asked my name. She looked up my order and asked if I ordered something I didn't order, and I said no. Then I told her what I ordered and she said OK, it was coming, they were just a little delayed. Then I waited. After another HOUR passed, I called again (9:20pm). This time, again, the person sounded confused, and asked my name. She looked it up and said it was now out for delivery and tried to downplay it, saying they were running "a little late." Then, when I sounded frustrated she claimed the driver had a flat tire, which I found hard to believe because if that was really the reason for the delay, she probably would have said it right away and called me to let me know it was going to be over an hour delay. I got the impression throughout the experience that they just didn't care and basically expected it to take 2.5 hrs to get people their food. In the end, my food came at 9:35pm. It was fine, but nothing special. I got Chicken Parm, and the chicken was a little cardboard-y, but definitely a step up from frozen tv dinner style food. I will give them the second star because I did get what I ordered, after 2.5 hrs.

I am really lucky how close Fiorellas Express is to me. The first time i went to Fiorellas Express was back when it used to be called Café Fiorellas, since i have lived in belmont for a while now. I remember it being wicked good italian food, with a casual pizzeria look. After a while, i noticed somewhat of a decline in the food and overall atmosphere in the then Cafe Fiorellas. I assume this was due to the manager at the time (i haven't seen him there since the renovations/new name). Let me make this clear, IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO FIORELLAS SINCE RENOVATIONS AND THE NEW SIGN HAS BEEN OUTSIDE, YOU NEED TO EAT SOMETHING HERE!!! Fiorellas has a restaurant in newton and i am really pleased with how they updated the old Cafe Fiorellas (in belmont) into an intimate, true version of their restaurant (in newton) while carrying out the same quality and authenticity of their families great italian food. The chicken parmigiana Calzones are my favorite things to get here since I'm usually picking up an order, and you will definitely want to grab a jar of their marinara sauce before you head out (my whole families favorite sauce) I was picking up food last friday night, on valentines day, and the place was PACKED. If you are looking for a date night with someone special, look no more.

A great place to get your take out. The food never disappoints, I have ordered take out about five to six times. The prices are good and the service is great. It has definitely become my go to place for Italian entrées.

We tried this place because of the awesome Yelp reviews. Thanks Yelpers! You didn't let us down! What a diamond in the rough. The food is terrific. We have done both delivery and carry out. The delivery is fast, and picking food up is also easy and efficient. Our favorite items are the pizza, eggplant sub, chicken parmesan sub, caprese, baked gnocchi, and seafood ravioli. This is Italian comfort food, well executed.

I've order and picked up dinner a few times and always thought the food was good. But tonight I decided to try delivery. They quoted an hour which was understandable because of after work dinner rush, but after an hour and a half I had to call to ask for an update. Keep in mind I live less than a mile from this location. They said it was on its way and it arrived cold. Very disappointing and clearly and error either at the restaurant or a driver that didn't understand proximity priorities. Very unfortunate.

  • Chris O.

The pizzas have been exactly the same for the last 10 years; stale crust, too much tomato sauce, and flavorless cheese. Also, the pizzas seem to be cold, even when I arrive for pick up ahead of schedule.

  • Jessica C.

Chicken Parm sandwich was FIRE!!! Also tried a spinach calzone without onions, which was deeeelish.

    (5)
  • Noelle G.

I ordered delivery and The calzones are good, but barely filled... chicken fingers cost $6 and they give you 3 sub shop style fingers, a cookie for $1.25 and it was about 2" round, and pizza was tiny and over cooked. Horrible experience.

Gross I just ordered delivery for the first time and I got pasta and at the top of the food was a piece of hair... Disgusted and no longer hungry -__-

Have ordered here plenty of times over tthe last few years. Have never gotten a bad meal. Our favorite to order is the chicken gnocchi fra diavlo. The chicken is always tender and the sauce has the perfect amount of spice. Ordering the garlic breadsticks makes you feel like you're eating at the original Fiorella's, not getting take out. Perfect for a night you want a delicious meal, but don't want to go through the whole sit down restaurant experience.

  • Albie D.

Solid place for take - out pizza. We've got pretty much every pizza available, and the crust is crispy and the toppings are tasty. They're also quick with the order, and the food is always ready when you pick up. We've never got anything other than pizza, but this was our go-to place in Belmont!

Updating my review post-transformation from cafe fiorella to fiorella's express. I.love.this.place ! I feel like their prices are very reasonable for great pastas, subs, and calzones (for Boston, anyway) - their red sauce is to die for and you don't have to wait an hour+ for a seat at t he original Fiorella's in Newton. It's a take-out/delivery place, but there are nice seats to eat in, and the staff has always been super nice and sweet whenever we eat there. Favorites: bolognese (really hard for me to order anything else), giant calzones (as big as your face! maybe bigger), fiorella pizza (mmm prosciutto!), and meatball sub (husband swears by it). Oh.. and breadsticks!

  • Carl B.

Food is good. I had a terrible experience with their delivery. I ordered via Foodler and received a promise delivery time of 7 PM. At 7:15 I called and was told I was supposed to have received a call saying delivery was 2 hours. I never received such a call. I canceled the order and complained to Foodler, who contacted Fiorella's. Their manager, instead of apologizing, told Foodler she thought I had accepted my earlier notification over the phone. A downright lie! Poor customer service.

Fiorella's is my go-to delivery place when I don't feel like making anything for myself. For the price the food is not at all bad, and if you're just looking for some warm Italian food Fiorella's is the place to go. Since they've renovated the restaurant itself is a nice place to be. With no more than 8 tables and a total seating of maybe 24 people, it's a cozy little spot on Belmont street to go with family or friends. I should say that, while their pizza is good, it's not league's better than any other place. It's pretty average, all things considered. However, it's hard to find the dishes they serve anywhere except at restaurants with unreasonable prices. "Fio's" - as we've come to call it - is a favorite among my friends when we're looking for better food than Subway or Nick's (we live in Belmont and have been to basically all of the counter-order restaurants). And, the people there know us as the "Napolatano crew", because at least two of us order it every time. Definitely try out their pasta dishes (my favorites being the Napolatano and Baked Gnocchi). If you're looking for a quite place for a bite of Italian food, check out Fio's.

I am sorry but I read such great reviews about this place. Maybe because it is Fiorella's "Express"- I thought the food to be mediocre at best. I' be ordered twice from them now and both times were disappointing. The pizza was burnt and still uncooked in the middle, the capreses salad was just thrown into the white plastic bag, the only saving grace was the Tiramisu. I haven't mentioned their prices but if they were going to charge as much I would expect a little bit more quality, or quantity- just something.

I'm gonna go ahead and do it. Maybe I'm just in the Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa spirit, but I am gonna give Fiorella's Express four stars. It was an advent of a new and glorious friendship finding this place on foodler.com . We ordered two pizzas. One large plain and one small with gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Just kidding. It was spinach and prosciutto.) The angel who delivered our sacramental feast did not come down the chimney, just through the front door. Like St. Nick he presented me with our two pies, wrapped as if they were presents under the tree. (This is also not true. They came in regular pizza boxes). The magi who made our pies was clearly sent from heaven. The crust was a delight. The sauce was as sweet as eggnog, the cheese as white as snow. Alright, I just got bored. The pizza is good here. ORDER IT NOW.

If you think you've experienced good tomato sauce, you'll realize you were mistaken after coming to Fiorellas. Best tomato sauce I've ever tasted. I personally enjoy the linguini with meatballs but you really can't go wrong on this expansive menu. The staff are super friendly and the portions are very big. Great place.

Just ordered from this place for the the first time, and must say it will surely be the last We got the Pepperoni and chicken Fra-Diavolo pizza - first experience was the unpleasant delivery guy who didn't say a word other than "sign". However, he couldn't find the store copy of the receipt so I gave back the customer copy with a generous tip. As for the pizza itself, it was as unpleasant as the driver. It was old, caked on cheese and the crust had Curled over from having been reheated so many times. It definitely wasn't a fresh pie and the meat was like rat meat. We wanted a change of pace from the pizza take out place down the street but absolutely regret changing. This place doesn't hold a candle to the pizza at Gerry's Italian kitchen down the street.

The reason I find this restaurant so wonderful is you can have delivery of the outstanding food right to your door. The fiorellas chicken Marsala is the greatest with its sauce that is bursting with flavor and fresh large spongy mushrooms. Make sure you add a Caesar salad and garlic bread. These are staples that should not be missed the opportunity to try. Deserts are outrageous.

What a disappointment! We got a soggy pizza and the eggplant was burnt Even though we were starving it was barely edible

  • Colin B.

We get pizza and takeout dinner from here all the time. Solid Italian food when you're not in the mood for cooking. There are a couple of tables in the restaurant, but it's primarily a takeout/delivery restaurant. Plus they take LevelUp, so that's cool.

The manager of Fiorella's Express actually sent me a gift card after I wrote my scathing review back in June. I thought that was really cool of him, so I gave it another shot, and I'm glad I did. This time I picked up my order because it's not too far from my office. The people working there were super nice and friendly. And, best of all, my food was pretty good this time around. I highly recommend garlic bread sticks. Very very tasty!

  • Caitlin S.

LOVE this place. My husband would eat all of his meals here if I let him ;-) The meatball calzone is good but the garlic sticks are hands down my favorite.

I'll give this restaurant another shot (perhaps with a pizza), but my first impression wasn't good. I ordered a Chicken Broccoli Alfredo. The chicken as bland as it gets and the Alfredo sauce was very thick. Broccoli was cooked fine, but also had no taste (a little garlic salt wouldn't have hurt). Everything was bland and dry. I think I could have made that by cooking everything with no spices then throwing a jar of alfredo sauce on top. Decor inside was nice and modern. The place was also very clean. We'll see next time.

Oh god, the crust! THE CRUST! The margherita pizza (I dunno, whatever they call a plain cheese with shredded basil) was excellent, but Fiorella's amazing crust has haunted me all the way back to LA. I spent 7 years in Boston, so I know crust, and this crust will have you finishing your friend's pieces long after you're full.Oh, Fiorella's Express, how I miss you!

Oe thing : wood fired, brick oven Makes pizzas and calzones GREAT Te calzones mint seem pricy at first ($9), but can easily serve two The pizza is very reasonably prices, have great specialty choices, and highly recommend I have gotten salads as well and they were big, fresh and tasty Definitely great for take out, and have a few tables if you want to stay in For a neighborhood pizza shop, they can't be beat! * now one update. They are not under new ownership. Menu is basically the same and some things have changes, but hopefully not much will change in the quality and taste

Best red sauce in the known universe--best eggplant parm dinner or sandwich--excellent house salad and dressing--hands down one of the best italian joints in all of the greater boston area. Know that for a couple of years, before 2011, they had a different owner and they had run the place down. Since the current owner took over, it's better than ever, and the food is as good as you get at their original restaurant in Newton. Go. Just go!

Friendly staff. You can see the kitchen, which is always a good sign. The food is always fresh. My boyfriend and I almost always go there for lunch during work and we love pretty much ALL of their sandwiches. Always done with much tender love and care. Their pasta is pretty amazing too.

  • Karyn V.

My boyfriend and I don't order a lot of take-out, but this is mostly because if we were to eat another piece of cardboard-like pizza or too greasy Chinese food we would scream. We were therefore quite excited to find Fiorella's Express take-out menu at our front door. Fiorella's Express offers gourmet Italian food at very reasonable prices. We ordered the Caprese ($8) and toasted ravioli ($7) as an appetizer as well as the chicken cacciatore ($12) and eggplant parmigiana ($10) for our main dishes. All of our dishes were good except that the tomato sauce for the toasted ravioli was a little bland and there could have been more chicken in the chicken cacciatore. It wasn't bad though, and it was much better than the other restaurants in the area that offer delivery. I am giving Fiorella's Express a three star rating because while the food is decent, it isn't anything extraordinary. However, I definitely see us ordering take-out from Fiorella's Express in the near future. For anyone interested in take-out, Fiorella's Express offers free delivery to Watertown, Belmont, Cambridge, and parts of Waltham. Enjoy!

Fiorella's on Belmont St in Belmont has the best brick oven pizzas in the general area, but stick to the pizza, the short order cooks do not qualify as chefs. if you want to eat there, they have about six tables and are conveniently on the 73 bus line near School st.

    (2)
  • Jeff D.

I drove by Cafe Fiorella for years AND read reviews on Yelp for a similar period of time before ever stopping in. BIG mistake. I've only tried the pizza and it's GREAT. I love brick oven pies, the crust is always the perfect mix of crispy and chewy. Our favorite so far is the Pesto Romana (pesto, artichokes and tomatoes) and we plan to explore more of the menu soon. I would love it if they were open later on the weekends, but that's my only complaint.

    (4)
  • Karen D.

This used to be a 5, but since it's changed over to Cafe Fiorella, it's slowly gone downhill. It's OK and I still order from them, but not as much and there are less things I order from them. The pizza is still good, but the pasta dishes are not as good. They also give you the tiniesty piece of bread that is lousy and would actually rather have them not bother. They get the orders wrong more as well.

Delivery: Came quick as lightning, but perhaps they should have spent more time on the food? Both of our pasta dishes (shrimp scampe and eggplant Parm) left taste to be desired. NOT RECOMMENDED.

  • Roni E.

Ohhhhh Emmmmmm Geeeee!!!! Seriously, I'm a pizza snob. My boss says so anyway, since whenever work orders pizza I refuse to eat it and request they order me a salad instead. That's cause pizza just doesn't match up around these parts to real Italian pizza in NY. Well.... let me tell you, Cafe Fiorella measured up to the real Italian pizza alright! My best friend and I had attempted to go to a new cafe for dinner, but apparently they were already closed and so to Cafe Fiorella we went. And I'm actually really glad we did. It was meant to be. we shared a BBQ Chicken Pizza which was made fresh right there for us from dough to finish. They were quick, friendly, and delicious! Now... I have a 2 options for pizza around these parts. Woo Hoo!

We've been here twice now. The meatball calzone is great. We didn't care for their pizza much. I don't like how they leave the skin on their eggplant... My eggplant parm wasn't great. The goat cheese salad is delicious but didn't come with any bread. I love fiorellas in newton and this place is good in a pinch.

We went to Cafe Fiorella for the 1st time 2 weeks ago. We really enjoyed it. The garden salad is fresh, not bagged. My sons enjoyed their meatball sub and mozzarella sticks. We have gone back a few times since, trying different things. I am not a fan of the wraps, but really love the pizza and shrimp scampi. Although the pasta portion is not huge, they did give me 6 large shrimp that were really yummy! As much as I love my garlic bread, I can pass on theirs. It was dry, semi-burnt and didn't have much of flavor. The pepperoni fra diavlo was yummy per my husband. Overall it's pretty good, and we will go back again.

Delicious dinner for 2 brought to the house for $30 with enough left over for lunch the next day. What more could you want?

I'm in love with Cafe Fiorella: The people who answer the phones are goofy, the drivers are funny, and the food is excellent. The caesar salad is amazing: Garlicky romaine lettuce paired up with crunchy homemade croutons, sprinkled with just the right amount of cheese. The pepperoni pizza is perfect: Savory pepperonis on a delicious crust, chewy and crunchy at the same time. Yom. All of the specialty pizzas we've tried have been great: The white pizza and the blue cheese w/ buffalo chicken have been beyond stellar. But what's more, the cost is exceptional. $24 for two pizzas and a huge salad? This is cheaper than going to the supermarket, buying your own ingredients, and making these culinary delights yourself. Viva Cafe Fiorella!

  • Jeana T.

I have been here twice and really liked it. I got the ravioli and the pasta romano. The prices are reasonable, parking can be a little bit of a pain. The cashier is very nice, my order got mixed up - ramano sandwich instead of pasta and she had the correct order made right and didn't have me pay for corrected amount which was a little more expensive.

  • Mike F.

I'm really hovering between two and three stars. I order from them periodically, and there is nothing wrong per se, though the food is really uninspiring. The pizza is just pizza, and there is so much in the area in terms of really great pizza. The main advantage for me is that it is relatively close to my home, and my daughter has a rare allergy which makes it difficult to find a pizza she can eat. Fiorella's just so happens to be allergen free for her. If you order, expect to get fair pizza, but nothing special.

  • Kerri O.

When I go to my parents for Friday pizza night, they still order from Brothers (they dig Greek pizza). When I'm getting pizza for me, I go to Fiorellas, because I like the crispy crust, and the price. I like wood stove cooked pizza. Might I add, the Caesar Salad is phenomenal. And, the Chicken Caesar Salad roll up is even better. This isn't the best pizza in Boston, but I think it's the best pizza in Belmont.

  • Deepa C.

How have I not reviewed this place yet? Across the street AND my favorite Belmont pizza place? Score! It's Fiorella's when: We moved in and had no phone and no food. When my parents come over and we have no food. When we were supposed to go shopping but play guitar hero all day and have no food. When the bus drops me off right in front of its open doors and I realize we have no food in the house for dinner. Hmm.. I am sensing a pattern.. Great service, friendly atmosphere, fresh salad, well made pizza and they deliver. Granted, it takes a lot longer that you'd think for delivery, so we have started just picking it up.

This is our new pizza place. The brick oven pizza is amazing! We got an order of mozzarella bread one night when we ate it. Definitely worth trying.

They have Orangina here! You simply can't go wrong. Cafe Fiorella is literally a block away from my house. Sunday night, I had the chicken basilico which was amazing. Basil, mushrooms, and chicken in a marinara sauce. David had a buffalo chicken pizza filled with chicken and bleu cheese, which was also another great dish. Their motto is that everything is made to order so you basically could create your own dish. My only pet peeve is that they close at 9pm - way too early since that's usually when I start eating but this place is worth it.

  • Mark S.

Just moved to Belmont and this place is REALLLLLLYYY good. They also have a card for buy 5 subs and get one free, which is a nice customer appreciation tactic.

  • Lucas S.

This place has good pizza when you pick it up yourself. We have ordered twice from here now once on a Friday night and once a Tuesday. Both times the delivery was very slow ( 1hour) I can understand perhaps on a busy Friday but to get a delivery that is nearly cold and I live less than 10 minutes away is unacceptable. I salvage you a star on potential and one because all other pizza around my area is just aweful even slighlty cold and soggy this is better.

great pizza cheap quick service and they deliver! love this place - we order from here at least once a week and have not had a bad meal yet. Pizza, apps, salads, pasta - it's all good.

  • Beth E.

Seriously, go here. I've had a bunch of their pasta dishes, and they're all really yummy. Growing up in an Italian family, I'm super picky about meatballs. And let me tell you, their meatballs are good. Had them first with the pasta. Then one day I decided to get a sub. Let me tell you, the meatball sub with cheese is to die for. Sometimes I just crave them. With the Greek salad. That sub and salad is easily 2 lunches. Salads are fresh, and the dressings are good. And the folks behind the counter are super nice (and sometimes flirty). I definitely need to go here more often.

  • Heather B.

I enjoy the brick oven pizzas very much. Hot, chewy yet crispy, toppings are just right. I enjoyed my calzone there but it could have been a bit more piping hot and I will order red sauce on the side next time. The staff are always friendly. I am a repeat customer and happy to have CF in my new 'hood.

  • Kathy M.

Ordered delivery. Got the: breadsticks w/marinara, greek salad, chicken cacciatore and a sm. cheese pizza. The Greek salad was the best item by far. The breadsticks seemed stale and were harder than usual to bite in to (perhaps they aren't good take-out items?). Delivery was on-time.

I love the food at Fiorella's! It's not the greatest italian food in the world, but definitely a top choice in this area. So my issue is..the past 2 times I've called for a delivery from here, they say 45 minutes (the average delivery time usually) and it ends up taking closer to an hour. I expect a wait on a delivery, no big deal. I would not mind at all if the food wasn't ICE COLD by the time it got to my house. I've waited 45 minutes for pizza's plenty of times, and devoured a hot slice in 2 seconds..so why can't this place seem to make it happen? Not to mention it's a 5 minute drive from Fiorella's in Belmont to my house in Watertown.. I'm not the kind of person to bash a place as soon as I have one bad experience, because of course, since i like the food, I will order from there again. Hopefully an owner or manager might take some advice from my review and try to make some changes? Either way, next time I'll just get off my ass and go pick up the food.

Cafe Fiorella is just a small, non-descript pizzeria on Belmont St (or so I thought). We walked in, noted the clean eating area and lots of bricks, but when we looked at the menu, we just could not believe the prices! They are seriously from 5-10 years ago, but don't tell the management.. The food is really quite good here, especially if you have it fresh. They specialize in pizza, flatbread entrees and stuff with a lot of prosciutto on it. Very tasty crust with just the right amount of crunch and chewiness to it. Try the calzones and the toasted ravioli appetizer, it's really good. They also had a lobster ravioli special when we went, which was pretty good too. The other pasta dishes were just kind of okay, but everything was so cheap we didn't care. We were happy eating all of it. The guys who work here are really nice, and they were quite accommodating to our group of 12 + 5 kids which sort of took over most of the small dining area. I highly recommend Fiorella to those looking for a cheap, casual place to eat!

This is an update. Cafe Fiorella, now Fiorella's Express has really gone downhill. we ordered two of our favorites from Cafe Fiorella, a pizza and the peperoni fra diavlo, and both were terrible at the new Fiorella Express. The ingredients were clearly cheaper, and the great taste gone. We so loved the old place, this was a big disappointment. I was a long time/frequent customer, and they built a lot of good will, but its clear this is different management intent on driving customers away with sub standard food. Stay away!

Had an amazing lunch today-15 of us went. They have the best marinara sauce in Belmont or Watertown!! So awesome to see Ginny back in her element & happy again!!! What a great day!

I still give Fiorella's 5 stars (or more if I could) for their pizza. It's always amazing no matter what I get there. My husband and I decided to try something different the other day. He ordered a steak and cheese and I ordered the chicken parm with gnocchi. Neither of us were fans. He said his steak and cheese was just okay (he didn't finish it) and, although I liked the gnocchi, the chicken was just not good. It tasted rubbery and I did not finish it either. Stick with the pizzas and calzones, they are amazing in every way.

This was my third visit to this Belmont neighborhood pizza restaurant. It is located on Belmont Street in a predominantly residential neighborhood. There are a few tables to eat at in the restaurant but like many pizza places, a great deal of their business is take out. They have "brick oven" pizza that is prepared in a highly visible brick oven behind the counter in the restaurant/ Their "large" pizzas are really quite small, about 14" maximum but they are a reasonable $11. Their menu is a bit more upscale than a traditional pizza restaurant offering pesto based and white pizzas among other specialties. The pizza here was only fair quality. The toppings were mostly in the center of the pizza and towards the edges there was very little topping leaving more than 2" of near plain crust around the entire circumference of the pizza. The crust itself was actually pretty good with a chewy and raised texture but limited flavor and the crust was no where near thin enough. The sauce was notably bland and the cheese was real (not processed) but also remarkably bland. Unfortunately things did not come together well with this pizza which I remember mostly as bland and having a huge area at the outer crust with no toppings. I did not try most of the pizza varieties on the menu and perhaps one of the other varieties is less bland but I suspect will have the same problems with very little sauce or cheese extending near the edge of the crust.

Great little place to eat. Everything is good, and I just have to stop by every time I'm in Belmont.

Hadn't been there for awhile, but I needed to head into the Town of Homes to pick up some of Sophias amazing oil and since Fiorella's is next door, who could resist. The place was spotless as usual, loved the open kitchen concept. My sandwich was yummy, love their meatballs... The guys in the back were busily portioning out pasta for later, but they were all wearing gloves, another good thing. I think the only thing that prevented me from giving them the the fifth star was the fact that I saw the pizza (for slices) in this little plastic dealie sitting on the counter. OK, so the pizza was covered, and I guess many places keep their pizza out for slices, but it just didn't look appatizing... I think I said that once before... If it were me, I would put the pizza in one of those rotary thingies that spun the pie around and kept it warm, but what do I know, maybe that dries it out or something...But overall, great food, good service, a dependable and reliable place to go for a bite! I always make it a point to stop in if I am in that part of town.

Living close by we have ordered from this place bi-monthly for a few years (circa-Cafe Fiorella). Mainly ordering just pizza's, the quality is fairly consistently good and the speed is quite fast for pick-up. One time I did become ill from an order, but after stating the bad experience to management, we were taken care of very well. They had done a refresh over a year ago, moving away from a "house of pizza/sub" type places and into a more hybrid takeout and dining with upscale decor.

We went to Firoella's but the line was out the door so we tried the express. Same food, less $$. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. My only negative point is they seem to skimp a bit on the chicken when you order a meal. Other than that, this is definitely a place we will revisit.

All of the employees are awesome, and they're definitely trying to get repeat business, but my fiancé and I thought something was lacking in every dish.....flavor. The pizza sauce just seems flat. With every bite we kept saying how it was "pretty good", but it just needed some seasoning. We also had a fettucine dish that was O.K., but again, it was just lacking flavor. Perhaps more cheese, herbs? I'll give this place another shot just because every employee was so hospitable. Update - on of 6/23/11 the new owner sent me a message stating that Fiorella's Express is under new management and is now associated with the Newton Fiorella's and Fiorella's Express in Brighton (never been there). Class move by the owner - I'll give it another shot when I'm in the area!

Yes, I am a fan. I have driven by here while working for quite a long time, I only just went in today. They seemed to be in the middle of a health code inspection, and though it seems like they may need a new cutting board. I was in and out of here in no time with some really tasty large sized wraps. I got two whole wheat pesto chicken wraps for the boss and I, they were really big, they were made really fast, the guy was really nice to me, even though the pressure was on with the official badge-wearing guy talking about hats and gloves and everything. He told me to stay warm and I was on my way! I will be bringing the little sisters here for sure.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review for Cafe Fiorella! They have the BEST pizza I've ever had. Fire baked, real ham cut onto the pizza (instead of the Canadian Bacon everyone else uses) and all around fresh toppings. I'd say stick with the pizza, but everything I've ever had there is this delicious. The employees there are friendly, funny and always on time.

The brick oven pizza is great. My sister ordered me pizza on the phone in Wisconsin and they were awesome about it. My sis ordered me a piece of choc cake and when I arrived to pick all of it up they said happy bday and the guy even predicted how old i was. Pretty impressive. They did have a hard time deciphering between slice of cake and whole cake. ANYWAY, great pizza and guys there seemed cool. Green pepper is a must on the pizza.

Best place for pizza and salads! I haven't eaten much else there since I keep going back for the pizzas. The place is a good size to eat in or take out, I love that the kitchen is open and you can watch your food being prepared. Service is great too, everyone there is always really nice.

This has quickly become our go-to delivery place. We've never eaten in, so this review is just of their delivery service. Taking the delivery process in order: First, props to any place that puts their menu on the web. We misplace our delivery menus all the time, so it's nice to be able to just hit the website. Second, the folks on the phone are always friendly and never seem rushed. I never need to spell my street address or correct the order when they repeat it back to me. Third, the delivery folks are equally nice. They're friendly, chatty, and clearly big fans of the food their delivering. They also remember repeat customers (or might have their memory jogged if the store keeps good records -- either way, it's nice). And then there's the food. The small pizzas and calzones are a damned nice deal, with tons of toppings/fillings for under $7 a pop, and all of the ingredients are very, very fresh. Whenever I get a veggie pizza (like the Gardenia), the toppings look like they were bought at a farmer's market that day. The chicken pesto one tastes like the sauce was made that day, and the chicken is great. The crust is on the thin side, but that's what I prefer. The pastas are just as good. My wife, who is a tortellini snob, orders nothing but the cheese tortellini, and my daughter loves the linguini. I'm a huge fan of the Salmon Creamy Pesto, which is a much better dish (in concept as well as in execution) than I'd have expected from an Italian delivery place. We've never had the sandwiches or any of the other specialty pastas, but I do plan to get those at some point. My only (minor) criticism here is that the garlic bread (free with every pasta order) isn't quite as garlicky as I'd like. That's not minor enough for me to dock a star, though. ETA: I'm writing this on December 20, 2008, the day after the first nasty snowstorm of the season, and in spite of the massive amount of snow on our street and the neighboring ones, they delivered today and yesterday!

I had very high expectations for this place based on other Yelpers reviews...I live right near it and thought it would be my go-to place for pizza/italian food. Not so. It's okay--nothing terrible here, but nothing I've tried just stands out as being GREAT. The pizza really isn't too good--Nick's and Stella are much better. The meals are okay, but the portions are tiny. I realize they have great prices, which is what made me hopeful, but every other ravioli dinner I've gotten from a pizza joint has left me stuffed and satisfied--after I finished the five or so ravioli's they gave me (and no melted cheese on top!), I was still hungry. That's disappointing.

This place is fast and the prices are right - and you get a lot of food. The pizzas are good, but I think its the calzones that really shine. My fave is the buffalo chicken calzone, I highly recommend it. Definitely something you could split between two people. It closes a bit earlier than I'd like though, and doesn't open till 4pm on Sunday.

We decided to order from Cafe Fiorella, for the Patriots Game today, based on the Yelp reviews. The vast majority are in favor. We ordered two calzones. Chicken Parm & Pepper Steak. Neither of which were very good. Dough was very good, but could tell the focus was not on delivery food, two calzones without any red sauce, ametuer mistakes from our point of view.

I remember as a little girl going over to Grandma's house off Belmont Street and watching as they opened Cafe Fiorella and hearing the old bats call it "fancy pizza" and whatever else old people call new restaurants. That was probably 25 years ago. I'm not quite sure how long Cafe Fiorella has really been open but if anything has been around THAT long it's got to be good. It was a Bertucci's before there was Bertucci's Brick Oven BS. We tried it one night when I was probably 6 and the memories weren't that reliable...Flash forward to 20+ years later and oddly I live down the street. I stumbled in during the move week as there was no food in the house and I'm SO glad. I've been going back as regularly as possible whenever I don't feel like cooking. The food is VERY reasonable if not bordering on cheap for what they give you. The quality is FAR from cheap. I've tried the white pizza (crave it now), pesto chicken, Hawaiian, chicken parm dinner, Caesar salad, garlic bread with mozz, tiramisu, chicken fettuccine alfredo...I think that's about it. The staff there is so friendly, I HAVE to be in a good mood to enter. If I go in feeling shitty about anything I would feel bad. They know everyone by name, and now of course know me..they have been working the place since birth I'm sure. Supposedly there is another location in Newtonville, but I don't care it's at the end of my street! Side note too, they make great iced coffee AND they have FROZEN COFFEE ICE CUBES in it.

We've been getting our pizzas and ceasar Salad delivered to our home from Cafe Forella's for years. The whole experience, from placing the order, receving the delivery, to eating those great pizzas is always a pleasure. Thanks, guys... We love ya'.

Good job guys the food is so good not only do you get good food but you get personal attention you can not beat the brick oven pizza it is cooked naturally. the owners are funny and remind me of the odd couple, my favorite is the anita pizza Friday nights are very busy call ahead for delivery and pick up .

I've been eating at Cafe Fiorella for 12 years...but only regularly for the last 3. They recently went under new ownership, so a lot of things have changed. The salads are still amazing, very fresh and perfect tasting. The pizza has developed a new taste, which I don't really like. Additionally, they no longer serve Barq's! :-(. Overall...I highly recommend the pizza and the salads! The few times I've tried their pasta dishes...they have been good too! I have no idea how heidi think's their pizza is greasy, belmont pizza is much much more greasy if anything. Fiorella's is "dry" if anything...in a very good way though

I've only had their pasta dishes, but they're better than similar dishes from anywhere else I've tried in this area. They're a favorite lunch spot in our office. The garlic bread is tasty, which means a lot coming from me. Speedy delivery, too.

Absolutely amazing spot. Pizza is solid but the garlic bread sticks are a must. Chicken gnocchi fra diavlo is amazing. My favorite by far but I have tried 75% of the menu and everything is great. Never had a bad meal here. Byob wine and they will give you glasses and the opener. Staff is awesome and helpful. Take out holds up great too but I prefer to eat there Can't say enough good stuff about this place!

First bad review I've ever written. I love fiorellas express and normally go to the one in Brighton. I work in Belmont so have ordered here a few times. The last time I ordered online and got regular pasta when I ordered gluten free and also got Alfredo when I ordered white wine sauce... I'm Gluten free and can't eat cream. Naturally it was a waste of money because I felt bad complaining and quite frankly don't have time to wait around for them to come back and correct the order since I'm a nanny and am always on the go. Today I tried again and ordered gluten free penne with the white wine and yet again got the wrong thing. Luckily it was gf but still Alfredo. Which means I could not eat. I brought it back and got my refund this time because I was mad but now wasted two dollars on a fricken tip for food I did not get to eat.. They didn't seem to understand j didn't have time to wait around... How about getting the order right and giving me the money that I paid for the guy and having it come out of the pocket of whoever messed up. Extremely Mad and disappointed again

Last night, my husband ordered delivery from Fiorella's and the delivery person was horribly rude. We live on the second floor. He rang the bell over and over and pounded on the door while my husband went downstairs. He shoved the food at him and left. This was completely unnecessary. We won't be ordering again. The food is good, but the face of the business is rude, so we see the no point in continuing to patronize this establishment.

Excellent, authentic food. Being half Italian, I get the good, homemade stuff from my family, and this was a treat. Quicker than a full blown fancy restaurant but with quality pretty close to what I'd expect from a high end restaurant. I had a pizza that was excellent with a wonderful soft yet crispy crust, and thin enough to fold in half like a proper pizza should be. Also had some of the tortellini with the marinara sauce, pasta was perfect and the sauce was flavorful. I would definitely visit again, and would venture to try the full Fiorella's resteraunt based on my experience here.

I used to order here once a week when I lived in Cambridge, and now that I'm in Belmont I order once every two weeks. I pretty much LOVE every pasta dish : I reccommend the gnocchi diavolo, the pesto chicken, the chicken parm. Chicken Nicoise salad is AMAZING. Filled with chicken and avocado, a delicious dressing. I could eat it all day everyday. Italian & Buffalo Chicken sandwich are also super tasty. I give one star less because I don't care for the breadsticks & calamari, they end up soggy and don't deliver well & sometimes on peak times I can wait an hour or more. But overall an awesome choice for delivery!

Their name is inaccurate, there is nothing express about this place. The delivery is hideously slow. Unparalleled - by far longest wait of any pizza delivery in the area. The food is quite good but I'm taking off a star because in addition to being slow they don't even arrive within stated 45 minutes to an hour. Service polite and apologetic but hire another driver! Sales might increase?!

I found my happy place at Fiorella's: Sausage and Ricotta Pizza. As someone who normally reaches for hot sauce, dipping sauces, parmesan cheese - anything to take pies to another level, this pizza blew me away, delivering everything I crave in one bite: spice, sweetness, fat, salt, flavour and the crispiness of perfect crust. The combination of DePasquale's sausage, ricotta and cherry peppers over pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese is everything I've ever wanted... in a pizza that is. Our old favourites were the Chicken & Pepperoni Fra Diavlo, but the chicken was often overcooked, and the Carne Trio - great for salt lovers. Their Marinara sauce is delicious and can be purchased in jars at Belmont MA's Spirited Gourmet.

I really like the food here; order pizza and garlic bread a lot. That said, every time I order it takes forever to get here. I live 5 minutes from them. It should not take nearly 2 hours for them to deliver a small cheese pizza (which arrives barely warm) and a salad. No reason for it.

    (3)
  • Florina K.

The food is pretty good, I had the chicken parm sandwich and garlic bread. Service is good too, with a place to sit down. I would stick with their sandwiches vs meals. The other parties in the group did not get as lucky with their meal as the ones who got the sandwich.

Delicious to-go menu. Not like the stuff that looks good in person but tastes like crap by the time you get it home. I've had nothing but great portion sizes for the cost. Love their seafood ravioli. I've also had their garlic bread, not a huge fan, but could be just my taste. Never been to the sit-down. I've heard great things though.

Great place to have nearby. I go for the pizza because it's always super fresh. By the time I call and order, then I walk over, it comes steaming out of the kitchen. Very affordable and reliable. Friendly staff. Lots of customer traffic, usually is a good sign.

So I'm from buffalo ny which means that I really don't mess with pizza around here...it's usually pretty disappointing. However, Fiorella's Express has become our go to take out restaurant. The brick oven pizzas are great, mostly because they don't try to be anything other than what they are. The calzones are fantastic, and the calamari is great too. The prices are great, the quality is high, you really can't go wrong. But if you're hungry RIGHT NOW call somewhere else cause this delivery is going to take a while.

  • Reed R.

Based on the other reviews, I thought I had found the best pizza place in the area. Alas, this really doesn't compare to Belmont Pizza or even Thyago's. The sauce is in fact quite good and the cheese is fairly fresh and tasty. But the crust is very thick and chewy. It tastes okay warm and fresh out of the oven, reminiscent of the fresh baked dinner rolls from Bertucci's, but it's almost inedible when reheated. I can't even imagine trying to chew through it cold. Still, I'd rate the pizza here overall at about four stars if I were grading on a curve (that is, taking into account how awful a lot of pizza in this area is). I haven't tried anything other than the pizza here. The pricing is affordable but unfairly high given how small the serving size is. That brings me to the crux of my review: I have an enormous gripe with the "large" pizza being only 14 inches instead of 16. I realize many of you are thinking "Hey, it's only two inches, what's the big deal?" The big deal is that the area of a circle is the square of its radius times pi! In other words, a 14 inch pizza is almost 50 square inches smaller than a 16 inch pizza. 14/2 = 7 7² = 49 49 * pi = 153.93 16/2 = 8 8² = 64 64 * pi = 201.06 201.06 - 153.93 = 47.13 That's a huge, huge deal to me given that the price of a pizza here is equal to or greater than that of any other pizza place in the area (around $13.50 after tax for a large single topping pie). And every other place in the area makes a 16 inch pie as their large size. I wanted to like this place. The staff was courteous and friendly and they processed my order very quickly. But at the end of the day, I can't get past the fact that they're really short changing you quite a bit compared to every other pizzeria in the area. I was also mildly put out by the fact that they left my pick up order on the counter in a box instead of keeping it warm inside a delivery bag or using some other method to keep it warm. It was luke warm by the time I got it home just a few minutes later. That's a problem given that I've already stated that the crust is nigh inedible when cold.

  • Charles B.

Terrible experience. Ordered delivery, took forever. The food was cold when it got here. Pizza is similar to what you'd get on a heat lamp in a cafeteria - rubbery cheese bland sauce, floppy soggy crust. It had clearly not been made fresh. Buffalo wings were just plain chicken fingers. Worst delivery experience I've ever had.

  • Christina V.

This place is great! Very quick and always quality. I'm partial to their Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Parm Sandwich and Garlic Breadsticks although I haven't had anything bad there. Their staff are always super friendly (I think they know me by now). I've had take-out, dine-in and delivery and it's always been consistent. I love their main restaurant in Newton and this is a cheap and quick version much closer to my house.

Went here for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. We brought a bottle of wine, grabbed the last available table and ordered breadsticks, antipasto, eggplant parm and chicken parm at the counter. The food came out really fast (although almost too fast), but I suppose they aren't expecting most customers to leisurely linger for hours in their casual dining area since it's set up a bit more like a take-out sorta place. Minus one star because I'm not entirely sure I love the concept of a sorta-take-out-sorta-sit-down restaurant, and definitely did feel rushed. But overall, still good and I will definitely go back (though wont order as much food). The breadsticks were fantastic and the antipasto was great for 2-3 people to share.

I used to come here back in the day when Marcelle was running it and now happy to see the family tradition continue. We popped in for a quick bite after a very stress, long meeting. I love the redesign -- it cozy and comfy. They used to have a killer ceasar salad but today we were not in the mood for a salad. We split a chicken marsala and it was simple and light and tasty. We were joking that he could have left the chicken out and just added more mushroom because the dish was flavorful and perfect with them. Next time, I am going to get my own entree and forget about splitting anything. I hope (but know deep down) that the other items are just as fresh and tasty.

It was so nice to see an Italian restaurant that delivered. I was impressed with the selection of available items and the price. It was very easy to order as I was able to order right from my Yelp app. Delivery was very fast and our food was still hot. I had the Gnocchi with the Caesar Salad and my husband had a Calzone. We both enjoyed our meals very much and would absolutely order both again. Since I haven't been to the location or even really talked to anyone there I can't review the physical location and service. However, we will absolutely order again.

I give one star less because I don't care for the breadsticks & calamari, they end up soggy and don't deliver well & sometimes on peak times I can wait an hour or more. But overall an awesome choice for delivery!

the food is a hit or miss at this location. I like their calzones and that's about it at this point.

This place is great for lunch! I usually get clams and linguine for just over $10 or so and never leave hungry. Great for a quick bite of non-pizza shop Italian.

I really like the food here; order pizza and garlic bread a lot. That said, every time I order it takes forever to get here. I live 5 minutes from them. It should not take nearly 2 hours for them to deliver a small cheese pizza (which arrives barely warm) and a salad. No reason for it.

Love their food! The baby clam fettucine is perfect. Salads come in huge portion. Even the cakes are very good. Will definitely come back!

    (4)
  • Noelle G.

I ordered delivery and The calzones are good, but barely filled... chicken fingers cost $6 and they give you 3 sub shop style fingers, a cookie for $1.25 and it was about 2" round, and pizza was tiny and over cooked. Horrible experience.

  • Albie D.

Solid place for take - out pizza. We've got pretty much every pizza available, and the crust is crispy and the toppings are tasty. They're also quick with the order, and the food is always ready when you pick up. We've never got anything other than pizza, but this was our go-to place in Belmont!

  • Stacy S.

  • Joseph P.

    (2)
  • Danny R.

  • Lou G.

  • Dianne L.

    (1)
  • Colin B.

We get pizza and takeout dinner from here all the time. Solid Italian food when you're not in the mood for cooking. There are a couple of tables in the restaurant, but it's primarily a takeout/delivery restaurant. Plus they take LevelUp, so that's cool.

  • Kyle C.

  • Someone S.

  • Lauren F.

Stay away!

Delivery: Came quick as lightning, but perhaps they should have spent more time on the food? Both of our pasta dishes (shrimp scampe and eggplant Parm) left taste to be desired. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Had an amazing lunch today-15 of us went. They have the best marinara sauce in Belmont or Watertown!! So awesome to see Ginny back in her element & happy again!!! What a great day!

Delicious dinner for 2 brought to the house for $30 with enough left over for lunch the next day. What more could you want?

I have been here twice and really liked it. I got the ravioli and the pasta romano. The prices are reasonable, parking can be a little bit of a pain. The cashier is very nice, my order got mixed up - ramano sandwich instead of pasta and she had the correct order made right and didn't have me pay for corrected amount which was a little more expensive.

Just moved to Belmont and this place is REALLLLLLYYY good. They also have a card for buy 5 subs and get one free, which is a nice customer appreciation tactic.

  • Dan T.

I've only had their pasta dishes, but they're better than similar dishes from anywhere else I've tried in this area. They're a favorite lunch spot in our office. The garlic bread is tasty, which means a lot coming from me. Speedy delivery, too.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
