Arrived shortly before 7 and was promptly seated. Then begins the observations. I'm in town for work, so not my normal stomping grounds but was neat to see literally everyone, and I mean everyone else come in and recognize half the other diners, I watched more waves and "how ya been" chats than I can recall. Waitresses rushing around everywhere, service being on a high note, however was odd to see such an establishment with wait staff and hostesses with such short shorts, seemed distasteful when it was selective. My waitress was on point, very polite and attentive and a pleasure from start to finish, service here (at least for me) was solid.Food, interesting and in some cases downright delicious. I ordered the fried alligator appetizer and for entree the bayou catfish with a side caesar salad. The alligator was cooked to perfection. Perfectly fried, not chewy at all and very good taste. If anything, the remoulade sauce was a bit overpowering, but it was tasty. A+ for this, very impressive. The salad came next, and what was a side salad could easily be a meal, honestly, while good, entirely too large for a compliment to your entree. My entree came and also came with a stuffed potato, I was confused as figured was one or another, I did inquire about the potato so possibly thought I wanted it added, no matter figured it would just be added to check. The bayou catfish was good. All had good flavor, catfish breading not my cup of tea but it was done well and the "sauce" was remiss or identical to that of a corn bisque, which wasn't a bad thing at all. Sadly however, I was so full from appetizer and salad, I barely put a dent in anything and took 90% of it to go, lets hope it warms up well. Overall, this place seems like a winner. There's not much in the way of options in the area and I drove from St. Francisville to give it a try. Prices are a bit up there but when you look at ingredients and the overall clientele/demographic of the area it makes perfect sense. Give it a try, its worth it.

Always packed. Parking is awful. Staff has been unknowledgeable of what dishes consist of. Felt like we were at hooters with the dress code. Recommend the grilled shrimp salad. It was really large and filling. Wish the accommodations were more spacious. Feel like the tables are crammed next to each other. When this place first opened the food was amazing and service was as well. Staff was dressed confortably and more professional. Wish they would have kept same standards :(

When there around 8:30pm and place empty. Sat at table and ordered beer for start. Waitress never checked back. Had to wave to get attention. Ordered food finally and took forever to come out. Brought food out and fork and knife had food particles on them. Brought second set out and dirty also. Got manager out and he said sorry. Paid for beer and left cold food there. They need to train the waitresses. Service is terrible at Zachary and Central locations.

Everything at Sammy's is good, but today my husband had the grilled shrimp poboy and I had to stop myself from finishing it. The shrimp were grilled perfectly and it was covered in grilled onions , mushrooms and peppers and it was probably the best thing I've had at Sammy's. The French bread was crunchy and made this poboy amazing. I had the pepper jack chicken which is always a go to for me and I was disappointed as the chicken was juicy and covered in the right amount pepper jack cheese and grilled pepper and onions. The mashed potatoes and gravy were comfort food at its best, fresh and rich. The service is always super friendly and you can't go wrong stopping by Sammy's in Zachary.

Can't find a location that can get a to-go order correct. Who wants to eat a baked potato with nothing on it? Better yet, who wants to pay $3.25 for a baked potato with nothing on it? Always a disappointment with their service on to-go orders...... I forgot to mention that my chicken fingers felt like they came from the refrigerator.

Fried cheese is ridiculous, definitely try it! Chicken club was great too. Service was friendly and attentive. Will be back.

I found myself with a couple of hours before my flight out of Baton Rouge and made the short drive to Zachary. I'm glad I did. The most difficult part is picking something from their extensive menu. Based on other reviews I had to have the seafood stuffed potato and it didn't disappoint. In fact that could have been enough for lunch. However, I also had a LaBLT that included cheddar cheese and avocado and it was terrific as well. I noticed a plate of onion rings served to a table nearby and wished I had one. Service was outstanding by a young guy named Noel. He was very personable and efficient despite a heavy lunch crowd. All in all, a gem of an establishment. I'll make a point to go back on a future trip to BR.

Came here for crawfish and it didn't disappoint. Ho mah gah, the creole seasoning used to flavor these bad boys were just amaze ballz. It had that depth of spice with the hit of celery and paprika. My friends and I ended up ordering 10lbs of crawdads and every one of them were nice and plump. Also had their Fried Cheese and I wasn't sure what this was until they brought it out. Turned out to be the best and biggest fraggin mozz sticks I've ever had. Nicely seasoned outside with a crispity, crackly, crunchity texture. This place is aces.

Love coming here ! The seafood stuffed baked potato is the winner here ! It's not on the menu so you have to ask for it ! Even if your told they don't have that ,tell your waitress yes you do, and when she checks, SURPRISE !!! I'm never dissapointed when I come here ! My favorites are the Zachary and Prairieville locations ! If you haven't been there do yourself a favor, GO !!

Working in Zachary from out of town, this place was recommended to me. Came by for lunch with a colleague. We had, gumbo, etouffee, side salad and a 1/2 poboy. Service was great, food was delicious. Gumbo was very tasty and had lots of shrimp in it. Poboy was hot and tasted great. Side salad was fresh and had lots of veggies with what appeared to be fresh blue cheese dressing.

Not real sure why the rating is so low here. I'm working nearby from out of state. This place was highly recommended to me by several people I was working with. The food was hot, fresh and very good. Service was prompt, courteous, and very polite even while very busy. Prices might be a little high to some people, but the amount of food and the quality of food leaves no doubt as to why it's priced where it is. You pay for what you get, and it's very fair. I don't mind paying a little extra for great food and service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone at any time from my first experience here. I will be back to experience more great food from this place. The only negative thing I could possible say about this place, is it needs a bigger parking lot for its customers.

Food is great! Appetizer we are getting Chips and salsa, my partner is ordering fried pork with red beans and rice.. And i am getting the BBQ shrimp, comes with salad, potato, and garlic bread!!!! We just got out chips and salsa! And they are delicious! This place is always packed and it's very friendly! Today is really busy, must be a lot of baseball games going on for the kids! Overall this place gets a 10 in my book

Ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer. Ordered the blackened tuna steak with steamed vegetables. Ordered the bread pudding for dessert. Fried pickles were great! Blackened tuna was done perfect. Bread pudding I took back to the hotel room and enjoyed very much. It was busy on a Tuesday night but I got right in. It was just me on this visit. Service was great. Never had a low glass of tea and Aubri checked on me regularly. Ask for Aubri! She was great! No complaints at all! Everyone around me were eating crawfish. They must be good here.

We just had my Dad's 75th Surprise Party in the banquet room at Sammy's Grill in Zachary, LA. Sammy's did an EXCELLENT job of accommodating us. It was a very large group and our awesome server, Amy, handled the large crowd with ease. Not only is the food delicious, regardless of what you order, the staff is attentive and very friendly. If you have a special event coming up, I would highly recommend letting Sammy's handle the details while you sit back and enjoy the party.

Anywhere Turbodog is served, the food usually good I have found, but this is Arbita's home state. (If you like Guinness, iI think you will like Turbodog especially on draft, I like it better) salad dressings taste all bottled and tasteless except house homemade Parmesan vinegarette which was very tasty served on consistent fresh lettuce. Gumbo with shrimp and crab, red beans & rice both good Cajun staples. Crawfish étouffée was bland, greasy and too few crawfish. Poboys all good as shrimp were big and fresh. Burgers were raved about and they did look good and juicy. I'm working here all week and all-in-all best food for variety I've found. Prices reasonable and service good especially at bar. Average at best.

I ordered their boiled crawfish to go and although it is still a bit expensive, it is delicious; it has enough spice to be tasty, but it is not overdone. The restaurant can be packed during dinner hours, but the food is good.

Sammy's Grill is a great place to go eat i you are looking for a packed house and decent food. The town of Zachary seems to not have many places to take your family if you are looking for a nice lunch or dinner. That being said, if that's what you believe you are misinformed or just haven't heard about Chubby's Pizza and Grill. Yes, Sammy's has a great location and building. Yes, plenty people do flock to Sammy's. But if you ask me... Compare any item on their menu to any item on Chubby's menu and Chubby's wins hands down. I would not recommend Sammy's Grill to anyone in the Zachary area. The service stinks, the food is bland, and you will have to wait for a seat. Chubby's has the best pizzas and burgers around! Check them out! Employees are great! Ticket times are EXTREMELY FAST! Food is DELICIOUS!

Sammy's food is always hot and fresh. I ordered an Oyster Po-boy and fries to go on 5/9/2014 and although the place was packed and people were waiting in line (Mother's Day) my meal was ready earlier than they said it would be and the wait staff were friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a good meal at anytime.

First time here. Probably last too. Horrible service. Waiter told us there were 16 mangers employed here and none were on duty this evening. Cats away; mice (teenager staff) will play. Took 10m for drinks and an hour to get our food. My steak, thankfully, was cooked as ordered. Dads boiled shrimp were overcooked. GF's sea bass and shrimp were drowning in sauce. Heavy "fishy" smell which indicates not fresh fish. Moms ribeye was "OK". Just not a very good experience for adequate food prep.

Like most Baker/Zachary restaurants, this one was pretty good for awhile, then bam... I'm kicking this restaurant to the curb! My son and I ate there the other evening and it TV seemed like a good time as it was yet overcrowded. Waitress took our order, brought our drinks, then the salad arrived, but I had no silverware or napkins or crackers. Asked the waitress twice. After 30 minutes, the meal was stiil not out, the waitress hadn't stopped once to check our drinks or offer an explanation. I finally caught her eye and gestured, no food yet...she flipped around and I assumed went to check on our meal. Ten minutes later, no food, no waitress, restaurant now packed and almost every customer seated after us is eating! Food finally arrives and I ask the waitress what happened, "oh it was my fault, I forgot to put your order in. I'm sorry!" Fried shrimp was greasy, potato was old, my son's hamburger steak was tasteless! Sammy's you were the last restaurant on our list and you're history! I'll spend my $26 at the grocery store and cook myself. Very disappointing!

Had lunch, The prices are good and the food is great. Our waitress was very nice and I'll definitely will be back soon. Plus theres not many options out that way.

It is popular, which makes it hard to park. On the plus side, the service typically stinks. I have to admit I've been here 5 or more times, because there ain't much competition. The location is pretty good, but apparently the landlord hosed them out of promised parking. The food is worth eating, but the getting it makes me skip it.

Initially Sammy's was the hype when we arrived in Zachary. The atmosphere was decent considering the surrounding area as was the food. It is one of the better places in Zachary to eat but pales in comparison to more populated dining areas.

While visiting family, we we swung into Sammy's after the LSU game. There were 12 of us and everyone ordered something different. It was Very Busy....but, our young waitress was FAST and SPOT ON Efficient! With that many people, I wasn't expecting things to go so smoothly. Hubby & I ordered Fried Eggplant appetizer w/ Remoulaude Sauce...Super Yummy! We both ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Chardonnay......The (8-10) Shrimp are HUGE...sauteed in compound butter w/ fresh mushrooms, green onions & cracked black pepper & served with a baked potato & dinner salad w/ Remoulaude Dressing. Absolutely Delicious! Everybody thoroughly enjoyed every dish they ordered! I look forward to our next visit & plan on dining @ Sammy's for sure! Lots of Fun & Great Food!

Great prices and great service. The food is good, but nothing out of this world. Except for the onion rings. O.M.G. Super-thick with a cajun spicy breading that is just out of this world. I can honestly say I've gone to Sammy's simply for the onion rings - they're that good.

Went here with a group of fellow partners in prison ministry while visiting Louisiana State Penitentiary aka Angola and though it doesn't come close to the fine cuisine of Angola's Ranch House it was a doable meal. I went boring with a plain burger with some Cajun seasoning on the side that added a lot of flavor to an OK burger. One of my ministry partners is an crawfish junkie and after literally sucking down 3 pounds he had a big smile on his face so for you crawfish folks take heed. The others in the group had various dishes that I can't remember but no one grumbled on the way back to our cars so overall the food was good. The staff was friendly and accommodating, as in the young lady (what do you call college age females these days anyway?) noticed I was scraping unwanted rabbit food off my burger and was quick to suggest her getting me another. I maybe going to Angola a bit more frequent in the coming months and if someone within the group suggests "Sammy's Grill" for dinner out cast a yea vote

Sammy's is very popular. Great food with a focus on seafood but has offerings that should satisfy most folks, steaks, burgers, etc. it fills up fast so get there early if you don't want to wait.

We loved this place and ate here three times while we were in the area. The bartenders and waitstaff were very friendly. Very laid back atmosphere, nice restrooms, and of course, lots of LSU gear adorned the walls. Great boiled crawfish, excellent fried shrimp/crawfish/catfish platter. Loved their garlic bread. Large menu to choose from. They had a wide selection of cold beers. We just loved Sammy's and wished there was one where we live!

boiled crawfish is delicious! i go here every time i'm in zachary and i order something different everytime. blackened aligator is good, rib eye is decent for a grill (not a steakhouse, don't expect steakhouse quality cut), crawfish etouffee really good, baked potato is a little odd but who is ordering a baked potato? it comes with it! fried pork chops are in an onion ring batter with huge portions, chicken breast with mushrooms and grilled onions was good but a little small. they have games and stuff for the kids and a full bar for the adults. all in all id have to say this is my favorite place to eat in zachary!

Sammy's is probably the busiest restaurant in Zachary. They have a seperate bar area with TV's, plus there are TV's all around the regular dining area, so you don't miss that LSU or Saints game while you're dining. My favorites are the filet topped with lump crab meat and the Catfish Feliciana (when they have it, it's not a regular menu item). They have lunch and dinner specials that are not on the menu, which gives you something new to try.

It is one of the best places to eat in Zachary, LA. Unfortunately, that isn't saying too much. If you don't want fast food at least. It is just a typical busy restaurant. The food is descent and not terrible by any means. If you have to go out to eat in Zachary this is probably one of the only places to go, but everything I have had there wasn't impressive. I would eat there again, but I wish there was a better choice in town.
