Had been to Youngs several years ago and was impressed with the value. The steak I had was good and left feeling good about the experience. However that was not the case on my recent visit. The two steaks my wife and I ordered were tough. The bread was white sliced and had a glob of either butter or margarine melted just in the very center. The sweet potato I ordered to have with the steak took the prize for the smallest potato I had ever had in any restaurant. Good but tiny. Every steak I had ever gotten from Winn Dixie was more tender than the steak I had at Youngs last night. The service was decent, but when I had a question about their strip steak and what it was, the answer by the waiter was wrong. I was nearly blocked in the parking lot. It is just land, un-marked and people park any way possible and everywhere, without thinking of the consequences. Two stars may be overly generous.

Nasty, old looking run down place, employees complaining in front of customers by the bar in front, jukebox (??!) barely works, can't substitute anything for the anemic baked potato, like veggies, bill was sky high, appetizer was miniscule, salad was lettuce and onion only, steak was just o.k, stinks, carpet feels old and gross. Texas Roadhouse was a better experience, frankly. 3 cocktails and dinner-$150 wasted dollars and a lot of wasted time. Over 2.5 hours to get seated and get salad much less the steak.

In town on business our trio was told of this place. Really hard to find but so so worth it. There is no street side sign, hidden, as it is for locals only ?!?! We went on a Wednesday night, lobster and prime rib night. I got the 1 lb. lobster and had a feast. The dude got the rib eye and loved it. The picky one ordered a filet - medium (she wasn't clear imo) but it came kinda dry. She fussed and the staff and mgr were so patient and gracious and substituted the prime rib and it was fablus. Great wine list. Very very pleasant wait staff.

I met my boss here for dinner. I am going to assume that this was an off night for the staff. 1st we waited about 40 minutes to be seated. There was a list formulated for those of us who did not have reservations. Well about 30 minutes into our wait a staff member informs us they needed to redo the list because the 1st one was lost. While waiting we ordered cocktails which took forever to come out. Then we are finally seated, and order our dinner which took about 35 minutes to arrive. I had the main lobster and a baked potato because it was a safe choice. My dinner was delicious. We then pay our ticket and it takes the waiter 25 minutes to return after we asked someone to check on our ticket. The waiter charged another tables meal to my boss' s credit card in addition to our meal. Needless to say due to service, not the food we will not return. Service is a big part of an excellent dining experience.

Unfortunately, Young's has gone down the tubes. You are better off going to Michael's or Palmetto's. The food quality is poor and the restaurant seems to be suffering from poor management and cash flow.

Wait was absurd. Simple salad took a half hour to bring to our table. Clearly a locals establishment. If your visiting the area don't wast your time unless you have lots of time to waste. Wouldn't hurt to invest in some lighting and maybe another cook or five. For a party of five it took over 1 1/2 for our food. Hate to say it since I really try to eat where the locals go but the food was no better than a chain restaurant and 2x or more the price.

Seriously, I don't understand the number of negative reviews here - it's not Ruth's but it is a damn fine local steakhouse. OK, for the uninitiated, there is no sign of any sort on this establishment, so yes, your GPS did lead to the right place. It is kind of a locals place but if you end up here have no fear - you will be welcomed as one of "us" (you know, north shore people). The steaks are USDA choice but they are cooked just as ordered and come out quite tasty. I do believe that butter is used in the preparation. Also worth a mention is the Cold Plate appetizer - chilled shrimp and lump crab meat with both cocktail and rémoulade sauces. Simple, yes, but still damn fine! OK, the interior is a bit dated (by a bit I mean quite) but it's not without it's charm. I personally love that there is a Falstaff Beer sign hanging in the bar. The wine list is small but adequate and service is friendly and efficient. On a recent visit there was a minor issue with the salads but it was compensated for with free dessert. Can't argue with that one! Bottom line: If you know the location you have probably eaten there. If not, whilst it may not be worth a special trip, if you are in the neighborhood and can find it, you will be rewarded with a very decent steak dinner!

Meeting Venue Review: 1.5 stars No sign on the building makes this a very hard to find venue site for anyone unfamiliar with the area. No Entrance sign makes it very hard to find venue entrance for anyone unfamiliar with Youngs. Musty meeting room, no wired internet and very weak wifi signal makes it extremely difficult to run webinars. The room wasn't set-up for the meeting when we got there which slowed down our own set-up. The restaurant, itself reminds me of an Eagles Lodge or an old set from the Golden Girls.

We took my mother out for a nice dinner tonight and were really disappointed. The decor screamed 1980 and smelled strongly of natural gas. We asked for escargot for an appetizer but were shortly told they were out. So we skipped the app all got entrees all with salads. The salads were dark greens and a few crotons with a some dressing. No tomato or onion or anything. Then a basket of assorted packets of crackers and a dish if butter. Really? A place with $20-$49 entrees and they don't have descent bread? The filet was great, seafood combo was good and the scallop Alfredo had very overdone scallops. $94 dinner for 3 plus a $18 tip... For what we got and the price we paid we won't be returning.

I went to this place last month for the first time with a group of about 20 colleagues. Young's was highly recommended, and I had high hopes. I suspect that most of the group had a good time, largely due to the massive amount of alcohol flowing that night, but my experience with the restaurant was pretty forgettable. Everyone's steaks arrived after quite a long wait, which is not atypical for a good steakhouse, as you would expect that they would ensure the steaks are cooked to perfection. However, mine did not arrive, and neither did my baked sweet potato. After about 5 minutes of watching everyone else start on their steaks, I flagged down the waiter, who only then thought to inform me that the staff had dropped my steak on the ground and was grilling up another one for me. Okay, fine, I'm glad they didn't just wipe it down and serve it anyway. After a long 20+ minute wait, my steak arrives, sans sweet potato. To my surprise, instead of a juicy and tasty medium-cooked filet, the steak is only seared and rare inside, tasteless and surprisingly tough. At that point, after I flagged down the waiter again, he offered to take it back and have it cooked to order, but by then everyone else was practically done with their dinner, and the restaurant was closing soon, so that wasn't a terribly attractive option. And after having three beers and little food in my stomach, I wasn't particularly sober by that point either. The waiter comped me my beers for my trouble, but frankly, I don't consider that to be a favor, since they should have comped me the steak instead. I don't plan to return. P.S., I never did get the sweet potato, despite having asked for it three times.

I gave em 3 stars! Years ago I would've given them 5 stars. Ate there last night w/a party of 8,it was mediocre.I always get the 12oz. Filet,it was good. I think it was shy of 10oz. But I was starving and didn't really care. Negatives: we were seated at a plastic folding table,Come on! We were all hungry and all knowing we were going to Young's They bring us the bread 40 minutes after seating and it was store bought rolls, after running out of that they bring us toast.Come on! They were out of the Cowboy Steak & prime rib. Seems to me they are cutting to many corners and it is affecting the Quality of food that they were known of producing! I live in Metairie and before I drive all the way to Young's, I'll think twice b4 I go back!

Service was terrible. We spent $55 dollars for filet minion and lobster. The steak comes out black. I ordered it medium. I literally couldn't even cut it. After sending it back they sent the same quality steak. Came here for my birthday. Extremely disappointed. Will never return here.

Went there for Father's Day, service was ok, but not great. Food is one star, I don't know what this place once was or is trying to be. I heard it was an old staple in Slidell.1st and last time going there. Wife's redfish was nasty, ordered pasta and shrimp entree for kids, is was off as well. My ribeye was ok, slightly over cooked due to the thinness. I couldn't enjoy it, knowing my families food was no good. Skip it

Not sure why this place has such poor reviews.. My experience at Young's was fantastic. Our server Tony took great care of us and our food was delicious. Can't wait to go back again.

I would like to review the food, but it never arrived after waiting over an hour. We finally left without as much as bread on the table. By the way, my cousin had just got married and reserved a back room for a sit down dinner/ reception. The father of the bride and grandparents of the groom left after 1 1/2 hours without as much as a beverage brought to the table. This review could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you get the picture. worst service EVER! I tried to Lea e a no star rating but you have to leave a rating in order to leave a review. Don't eat here. Da e your money.

Valentines dinner was ruined thanks to this place! We had 7pm reservations, was seated at 730. We were never even offered anything to drink while we waited. We waited an hour before we were served the tiniest salads. We were served our dinner an hour after salads. Finally got bread on the table after dinner was served...toasted bread....seriously?? Dessert was served after 30 minutes of ordering. Decor reminds me of a horror movie funeral home. Very dark and old! Service was awful and wait time was a joke. Overpriced food and no better than what I can cook at home. Overall this place does not deserve a star but it wont let me choose anything lower!!!

This place hasn't changed in years. Same OLD furniture and linens,.. Smells a little like "Grandma's". My Grandma actual had the same furniture! For table bread, you get some pieces of Texas Toast (yes, really). Salad is pre-packaged, croutons are store-bought,... Only nice thing is the steaks here are actually some of the best money can buy!!! Everything else is FAIL! They purposely make people wait by the bar hoping they will buy alcohol. Even if you have reservations, expect to wait 30 mins at the bar. It really is worth it to drive 30 mins down the road (to Mandeville) and eat at Keith Young's instead!

Everything was perfect!! Had the petite filet with seafood, baked potato and salad with Blue cheese dressing. My friend had the lamb chops! The food was cooked just right! Service impeccable!
