Felipe’s Taqueria Menu

Food was spectacular, my only complaint was they don't have waiters or waitresses. I generally like to sit down and order not feel like I am eating at a cafeteria style restaurant. Other than that I couldn't ask for a better meal and the price was very reasonable. Oh and don't forget the brownie for dessert!

If Daniel is working the bar, he can make you a Ramos Gin Fizz, and that is quite a rarity. A patron at the bar said, 'This guy can make anything.' I said, 'Don't say that. I'll challenge him with a Ramos Gin Fizz.' I was shocked because there are only two restaurants in NOLA I'd confidently order this drink from, and Daniel could rival them! If you ask him to make a margarita, you're in for a real treat if you let him have artistic license. I'm going to be buying some of his recommended tequila for home and I'm going to try some key limes since he used them. I'll definitely be back! Thanks Daniel. Give him a raise Felipé's!

This is by far one of my favorite Mexican places to eat. The size portions you get here are huge! Everything on the menu includes taxes. Everything is fresh to order and made right in front of you! The queso is deliciouso!! Although they don't have a chunky salsa that comes with the chips and queso is a little disappointing since I can eat my weight in chips and salsa!!! But none the less the chicken quesadilla is huge and one of my favorites besides the nachos and super buritto!!! I always get a huge thing of queso because it's so cheap! They offer catering and take out and have a pretty decent sized bar! They have pitchers of margaritas! And always have some type of happy hour special! Even have a few outdoor seating options if you like. Also, if you're dining in, get a small drink because it's free refills. I didn't know this the first time I went and got the bigger drink. They make the tortilla chips in house and they are always fresh! Even in a lunch rush this place does a nice way of moving the line pretty swiftly! Food is fresh, service is amazingly fast and the price is really good!

When I heard Slidell was getting a Felipe's, I was very excited. FINALLY! I don't have to wait to go to the quarter to indulge myself. This place is pretty much the same as the one in the quarter. They have all the good stuff, fresh and good ingredients. Everything is good except for the beer selection, which could use LESS mexican beers (Because mexican beers suck, stick with cactus whiskey) and more GOOD beer. They seem to have a problem with keeping staff, though, because almost every time I've visited this place, they are ALWAYS training someone! That's why I only gave this one 3 stars. New people making your food means it's not going to be anywhere NEAR as good as it should be! Come on, guys! Don't bother ordering your food at the bar. Just go up to the prep bar and order it yourself so you can watch them do it right. You'll be glad you did and you'll laugh at your friend who was lazy and ordered at the bar and got a messed up order. They WILL mess it up somehow. Trust me. Again, maybe it's because of the turnover, I don't know. They're in a prime spot and the parking is good. Their sauce selection always seems to be fresh and right on the money and well kept. That's good. This place is just a regular old damn good Felipe's restaurant with all the goodies, but it could be better. Do something about all those new folks who don't know what they're doing. Is it rude of me to request that the noob NOT make my food cuz they screw me over in some way every time they do? I'd rather the long time employee who knows what they're doing make my food. I mean.... one time I ordered at the bar and my burrito came back grilled and missing an entire ingredient that I ordered. Jeez. Other than that, they're awesome. Glad we finally have one that I can go to instead of the same old boring Taco Hell.

It's not bad, It's not great. It's one of the better Mexican chains I've been to, though. I love the atmosphere here and the bartenders are always so nice. They give a heavy pour on the drinks and I like sitting at the bar and chatting with them while having my entree. I've only had the chicken, beef and pulled pork burritos here. They are pretty flavorful, especially when you head to that awesome sauce and salsa bar located in the rear of the restaurant. My personal fave is salsa Verdi...I could drink that straight from a cup! This is a great casual place that would be perfect for groups or girls night. Maybe not the best date night place, as it can get pretty loud in here. Give it a try!

I had the shrimp tacos and I will be back for them. I can honestly say they were delicious. Daniel was an awesome server and will come back to see him and get shrimp tacos!

I love, love, love this place! The steak nachos always satisfy my craving. Great portions! And Daniel is the BEST BARTENDER EVER!!!! His Sangrias are to die for! His mango margaritas hit the spot as well...My weekly stop!

Not sure why folks who have reviewed this restaurant have not made the connection but this is basically one of the burrito places like Chipotle that is trying to be a little more upscale. Pros - lively, vibrant ambience. Bar area and lots of big screen TVs - good selection of meats and sides to put on your burrito - reasonable prices - quick serve type restaurant - no servers so you save money from not having to tip - can choose between regular and super burrito (10" tortilla or 12"). 10" is big enough for most Cons - very confusing layout. Is it that hard to put up a sign that says "order here"? - nickle and dime you on the sides. Sweet corn - $.50 Beans - $.50 Guac - $1.50 Make it simpler - add more sides for no extra charge (maybe add a $1 per item) and only charge extra for Guac, like Chipotle does - meat that tends to get dried out sitting in the warmer - this is a problem for all restaurants like this, although Chipotle seems to do the best at keeping the meat moist. I ordered steak at first but it looked really dried out, so I went with the pulled pork which was okay - but the guy had a heck of time cutting it up into small enough chunks to fit in the burrito Again, it was okay but seeing that some had this as the best Mexican in Slidell that obviously means that the choices are pretty slim here! NOTE - I did not order a margarita or other beverage, and many reviews on this site seem to focus in on that so please know that I am not including the drinks or how much of a pour they give you (which I think has made this restaurant have as high reviews as it has) Salud!

Takeout horrible! I waited 15 min to get helped - when I got up there they had nachos burning in the broiler, all the meats looked dry. Very young kids were preparing the food and they looked very unsure what they were doing. In the time I waited I could have got my food and ate it at Chipotle! This place was a joke. They need management help! I came down to Five Guys for a burger - fantastic as always!

I will come back here and drink tequila because Daniel is the best bartender I've come across in a long time. Incredibly well-informed, funny, and inspiring. The food is pretty good too.

Holy Mother of Burritos! I really, really like this place. We come here entirely too often. I'm afraid that at some point we're going to have had so many burritos in such a short time, that we will go on a burrito hiatus... which would be tragic. The regular burrito with cheese is just as expensive as the large burrito (which comes with cheese). If you want shrimp, tell them that first. They have to toss the shrimp in the fryer and that takes time. Things I don't like: 1. Wasted Space/Poor Design - they have the place set up to have two lines running from either sides of the registers toward the middle, but maybe not enough business to run both sides? The other counter is empty, but there's a line out the door. Also, it's hard to get to the drink counter. I don't understand this layout at all. 2. The sides cost weird amounts, I'm not entirely sure what is "included" in a burrito. A tablespoon of corn will cost you fifty cents... I can buy a damn can for that much!

I had wonderful food service with a cashier named zack but when I went to the bar to get drinks he was really pushy. All I wanted was a margarita and he told me no that he was going to make something he thought I would like. I did not appreciate this because all I wanted was a margarita and he just about argued with me saying I wouldn't like it but I would like this random drink he would make for me. Well I didn't like it and he said I didn't know what I was talking about!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. He was so rude and he would not leave me or my friend alone. All we wanted to eat and drink a margarita and he ruined our whole experience!

Ummmmmm the answer is YES!!!!! Totally awesome restaurant!!!! Great location. Great staff. Great, great, great food. You guys knocked it out of Fritchie Park!!!! (Local reference - LOL) Visited this restaurant after shopping in the new complex & I wasn't disappointed. We ordered: sangria, margaritas that were on special at the time, taco salad, churros - hello I love those things & a pulled pork burrito. Nothing about this dining experience disappointed. The drinks were tasty & had the perfect kick. The food was seasoned to perfection, temperature was great & left you wanting more, but I was physically unable as my belly was already stuffed to capacity. This experience has really catapulted Felipe in my book. Ample parking. Cool staff. Margarita specials on specified days. I will be back to THIS location in particular!!!

This place is so great! Margaritas are strong and delightful! Also we both got the chimichangas and were in heaven! They cover it with queso cheese! So, so good! So happy we have one in slidell now! We will DEFINITELY BE BACK! If you sit at the bar, ask for Lauren or Derek! They are so helpful and hilarious. Great bartenders and keep ya entertained! Overall, all staff is so great and friendly that helped us. Smiling and making your experience wonderful! The owner or manager walks around checking up on everyone. Very nice environment, great food, and welcoming! We love it and the people all around us seem to be enjoying it as well!

The door greeter whom I assume is the manager was very pleasant. We sat at the bar and were pleasantly surprised with the reasonable prices. The bartender's personality and attentiveness was lacking. The real downfall here is the food - it's terrible. I just moved from Houston after 7 years and have been eating great Mexican food for a whole so perhaps the bar was set too high. The rice was hard, the guac flavorless, the pico dull. No reason to revisit. I can make better Mexican food at home.

We have been to this restaurant 3X in 2 weeks and have been fully satisfied each time. But I ordered carnitas 3X in a row so I cannot comment on the other meats. Price is so reasonable, I just had a plato with rice, refried beans, carnitas, salsa, jalapeno for $6. It comes with 2 tortillas but I don't need the extra carbs so I passed on that. $6!!! How cheap is that! They have a cup for tap water so I don't know about the comment that you have to buy bottled water. Well, you don't. I and my 7 year love the queso dip!! It is so addicting, I have to make sure to order a small one for me so I don't gobble up the bigger one! We also had the nachos one time and it was pretty darn good. Anyway, just line up, check the board for the selections which include one kind of meat . Nachos come with cheese that they melt when they heat up the chips, one kind of meat, beans, jalapeno, pico de gallo and sour cream. Then choose your non-alcoholic drink before paying. I'll post another review when I've tried their bar. Haven't had a chance to try any drinks yet. Anyway, I'm glad they opened a branch here! It's a welcome addition!

Food was great and the people were great to talk to!! But, the cleanliness was lacking a lot. Very dirty and after eating the chimmy with queso the next day gastric distress!!

This was my first time trying Felipe's Taqueria and I am so happy I like trying new things. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and since it was my first time the floor manager told me how to order and gave great suggestions. I had the taco salad with spicy chicken, guacamole, jalapenos, pico de gallo, cilantro, and spicy sauce to top it off. You can get a drink and chips to make it a combo. Do yourself a favor and try your chips with the queso dip it is delicious. I can't wait to explore all the other items on the menu.

Bad first start... We walked in right when it opened. In line for 10 min. They were only getting one order ready with 10 people behind the counter. I know it just opened but you would think the first basic nachos order would not have paralyzed business as easily as it did. I will give you a month. Train Your staff, prep your business to be ready at opening and analyze your weak points. First impressions are important and yours was not a good one.

This place is basically my second home. Food- amazing. Staff- unmatched. Prices- perfect. Atmosphere- fun, inviting. You will absolutely love this place. The tacos al pastor are my usual with a frozen house margarita. Perfection. If you dine at the bar- make sure and ask "what's under the chicken?"

If I could, I would give this place 0 stars....I called in 2 orders of nachos for a to-go order. I understand the following...1) I shouldn't have ordered nachos for a Togo order. 2) it's a new place so the employees still may not be familiar with everything. First off....the food was horrible. The shredded pork and chorizo were in gigantic pieces, so there was a ratio of about 1 piece of meat per 15+ chips. one order came with jalapenos, the other did not. The girl who took my order was not helpful or polite. I just had such a bad experience....there were hardly any toppings on my nachos. I'm so dissapointed.....I had such high hopes :(

Wow!!!! This was an amazing find. Was a little put off when I walked in the door because I thought it was going to be a chain restaurant with frozen and canned food. But upon walking to the counter to order those thoughts were instantly dismissed. Fresh grilled veggies, meats, sauces, toppings...oh my! I got the Plato with spicy chicken, grilled vegetables (broccoli, red and green peppers, red onions, jiicama, yellow squash and zucchini) rice, beans, jalapeños, cilantro, pico. Came with 2 corn tortillas, which I didn't even bother with because my plate was so full. They also have a salsa bar with pickled carrots, radishes, habenaro sauce, salsa rojo, key limes and chipotle onions. Now let me describe the taste...OH MY GOD! I was blown away. It's all fresh and flavored just right. The beans and rice are very authentic tasting. The sauces and salsas are fresh and perfect. This place is top of the line. Only problem with Felipe's is the fact that they are only located in New Orleans! I am stuffed, happy and VERY impressed!

We try to make this at least a weekly treat. Best Mexican food in town. The menu is easy to mix and make whatever you want to order. Everything is fresh and made on site.

Two words...... strong pours. Drinks are potent and very delicious. The margaritas are fresh squeezed and that doesn't exist in this area. The food is made fresh and readily available. It's super cheap and tastes good. One thing to be noted is the layout. You can order at the bar or go through the assembly line. I'm a bit of a control freak so I like the layout. I can customize my food and not feel like I'm being annoying. Hands down a great place best cocktails and good food. One of the only places you don't have to be a regular to get good drink. They default them and hands down great place to eat food comes out super fast

Have been here about 20 or so times now. The food is always fresh and delicious. I have tried a few things off the menu and nothing has disappointed. The staff has always be helpful and friendly. It helps that's it's a Louisiana owned company as well.

Sierra was a great bartender and the pineapple face drink was delicious! I will definitely be coming to see her at the bar again!

Easy setup and good food. I got a chicken quesadilla that had a very good flavor. The only reason i didn't give it a five was because they seem to be very stingy on the chips and salsa. I will say they have a great bartender that was making up his own stuff and he made a fantastic grapefruit margarita

And even better they have a Peruvian liquor called Pisco and my bartender Daniel made it perfectly to a T!! I will be back, sitting at this bar, any chance I get!!!!! The atmosphere and service is great!

They do the damn thing. It's very simple, clean, hot and reasonably priced. Wife and I go here at least once a week. Best margaritas you can get anywhere. They have the most premium tequilas. The deep fried super burrito is absolutely magical. The roasted veggies are amazing as well.

I love this Slidell location! So happy I don't have to go to any of the New Orleans locations anymore. It's nice and clean!!! The food and drinks are awesome and the workers are super friendly! Daniel was the best! He is super funny and down to earth! Ask him to do the lime trick haha. Absolutely love this place and I'm so happy this came to Slidell (:

  • Brittany G.

This place is okay...but only if you've never had Chipotle. I just prefer the all natural ingredients used by chipotle and the fact that they don't charge extra for every single additional topping. This place is definitely overrated.

Daniel - best bartender on the NorthShore

  • Carrie X.

I had a great experience at the bar! Daniel was easy to talk to and just knew what drink to suggest to me when I took too long with the drink menu (LOL). Not only will he accommodate you with whatever you want, he will recommend drinks that you never would try!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
