In a sea of run of the mill chain restaurants, this hidden gem truly stands out. Is it the best Q ever? No. Is it the best Q option in the area, YES! Actually this is probably the best lunch Q option I have encountered in my travels across this great country. I have had the beef and pork and both are cooked perfectly. My next step is to get some ribs for dinner one of these days. Parking is tight, especially when you're trying to sneak in a mid-size rental in a lot full of F-150s. The lunch combos are great deals and for around $8, you get a great meal. Its places like this that truly make me appreciate the mom/pop operations that produce great food, without the BS of Happy Meals and smoothies!

Okay, let's see: Ribs - excellent! Sauce - good to excellent. Beans - way better than average. Corn on the cob - well, what can you say about corn on the cob? Well, it wasn't that soft, mushy, tasteless stuff. All in all, a very well deserved 5 star rating! Next time I think I'll try the chicken. If it's as good as the ribs I'll have to figure out 6 stars.

Eye watering great barbeque! No doubt the best in Shreveport if not La. The ribs were amazing and made me want to start hugging everyone in the kitchen.

Great pork loin, excellent service. I had some problems finding a good lunch spot. Not anymore. Prices are great and you get the feel that they care about the food here. Definitely worth a visit.

Good food at a reasonable price. Staff and owners are young but know what they're doing. I definitely recommend giving this place a whirl. They do have a drive-thru.

I was just passing by, almost dinner time, so I went in to see about their BBQ. I really liked them. They were very meaty, smoked perfectly, not dry as so many places that could be good but just miss the boat. They have an excellent rub for their smoking, not hot, nor really mild, just right with a hint of spice. The potato salad was very good, far from flavorless potato salad. I had 3 rib dinner, I was stuffed and could not eat everything. If I had eaten my sides first, I would have left uncomfortable, the ribs were that good. After your full you just have to keep eating. The sauce, to me is unimportant and not BBQ, they offer 1 sauce on the table. In my book sauce adds nothing to good BBQ. It become important only when the BBQ is mediocre. Sammy's dose not require Sauce. Clearly it is not the sauce you come to Sammy's for. It was like the ambitious ketchup, no distinction. I would suggest that they offer a selection of sauces, for those that the sauce is important Note: I have recently gone on a reduced salt diet. I am a little sensitive to salt now, a note to those that are like me, it is a little salty. This dose NOT mean it is salty, with different pallets being accustomed to different levels of salt. {example: a friend of mine uses no salt, and finds bacon as over powering lay salty}.

Overall this is a good place to get some Q from the drive through. The ribs had a pure pork taste. They were cooked just right, had just enough smoke flavor, and weren't coated with some mystery rub and sauce. Being full spare ribs helped them over the top. The chopped beef sandwich wasn't as good, but it was enjoyable. The sauce is slightly sweet and complimented both meats nicely. The brand and Cole slaw were passable, but not spectacular. For a small place on the edge of a neighborhood, I was surprised at how good it was.

Great food! There was no one there when we went in (around 4:45 on a Sunday night), so the service was quick. It was a ton of food for a reasonable price. Is it the best BBQ I've ever had? Well, no, but it definitely hit the spot. The half chicken was fantastic. Husband loved the ribs - great smoky flavor. Also tried beans, sausage, and baked potato. All was delicious!

While on the drive back to Dallas from Florida, the hubs and I were craving some serious BBQ. Long, endless hours on the road and, well, being pregnant can create a serious hankering for straight meat in ya. And needless to say, being from the great state of Texas, I know my B-B-Q. So although the location and selection of Sammy's proved quite nice, the actual quality of the food simply did not. I mean, it certainly wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything to write home about, either (in our case, literally). I had ribs, corn, and peach cobbler. The main attraction, ribs, left a lot to desire. Tough in places, gelatinous in other places, and flavor that was just -- meh. Corn, well, pretty hard to screw up corn but it was tasty. The cobbler was probably my favorite part of the meal. Husband also ordered ribs and wasn't thrilled either. Overall, this is a good spot to swing by if you ~just have to~ have BBQ and need it in a jiffy. Otherwise, keep it moving, Tex.

Not impressed! Got the chopped beef sandwich which you have to admit is pretty hard to mess up, however, it was very greasy the bottom bum was mushy. Over all the food just was not good at all. We took a couple of bites and left it on the table!

Just going to have to say best chopped BQ sandwich I ever eaten out. I live in Dallas and never eat at BQ restuarants because all BQ places I been to are dry dry dry and yet to find a place that has decent sauce and they all have store bought tasting potato salad and have no idea how to make baked beans. Not here sauce is yum and sandwich is delicious. Stuffed chopped potato the bomb. Sides here are really small but good. Sandwich is in a big bun. Guy at drive through window was pretty cool dude. Give him some props.

I used to eat here at least once if not twice a week. The girls he has working in there has just went down the drain. Really one in particular and she must be newer employee. It's not just me that would find her very long finger nails disgusting but so would the Heath department. I went to pick up my last order and with no gloves her thumb nail punctured the bag. I came home and threw it to the animals. I just couldn't stomach it. The beans were all over the bag and my potato salad container. I guess I should have called to talk to a manager or owner but it's so obvious . Do something about it please! I'll give it a try when you hire new help with short I painted finger nails. Gloves wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just saying

Dirty! Nasty! Gross! Disgusting! Dead fly and fly body parts in plastic knife holder. Dining area was dirty. Dining room chair left in the middle of men's restroom, looked like somebody used it to stand on. My BBQ beef poboy was cut in half and you could see fingerprints on the bread. We will never go back. Horrible!!!!

I have driven by this place a hundred times and never noticed it! Had it not been for some SFD firefighters telling me about them, I probably would have never stopped in, but I'm so glad I did! I ordered the three meat sampler platter, so I could get a good variety. It came with three ribs, your choice of three meats, two sides and toast. I chose sliced brisket, turkey, and sausage. My sides were potato salad and cole slaw, two things I am very picky about. I also ordered their pecan cobbler. I was quite surprised and the quantity of food when it came out! I expected a small portion of each meat, but was I wrong! This plate would feed 2-3 people! In fact I took most of the meat home to share! The ribs were fantastic! Very nicely seasoned and tender. The brisket was cut thicker than I prefer (something I'll know to ask for a thinner cut in the future), but not a bad thing. The flavor was ok, not my favorite, just a light smoky flavor. It was also a little drier than I prefer. The turkey wasn't bad, but was perhaps my least favorite of the meats. I prefer just smoked turkey, but this had some type of seasoning on it. Again, it wasn't bad just not my preference. The sausage was great, had a nice flavor and just a touch spice. As I said I am very picky about potato salad and coleslaw, but both were to my liking! The potato salad was more of a mayo based salad. The coleslaw was nice and sweet, and had a nice crunch! If you like pecan pie, you will LOVE their pecan cobbler! It was like having the best part of pecan pie, the filling, with a little crust mixed in....YUM!! I will definitely be back to visit! I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, but they have bbq sandwich plates starting at around $7.
