This place has excellent coffee and espresso. Also, this is a good place for an afternoon lunch or snack. The food is fresh and served with southern hospitality. Pleasant view of the river. If I wanted a big city trendy coffeehouse experience like Starbucks, I could have stayed home in Dallas.

Canebrake is the place in Natchitoches where one can catch up with old friends over a cup of coffee, or just read a book and relax by the Cane River. The coffee is always hot, and the baristas are always as attractive as the drinks they serve. The sandwiches are delicious as well. This place is also very special to me. This cafe is where I proposed to my girlfriend last December during the annual Christmas Festival. Every visit to Canebrake reminds me of her and that awesome night. If your ever get a chance to stop by Natchitoches, take a walk down Front Street and be sure to get a cup of joe at Canebrake Cafe, "A brake from your busy life." â„¢

Nice coffee shop on the main street and across from the park. Coffee in the mocha and cafe-au lait we got was better than Starbucks. Limited hard seating. May be a long line during the popular downtown events. Has wifi if you ask for the password. Has sandwiches but only till 4 PM. Also has some pie and cake desserts.

While on Vaca to visit my boyfriends family. There was only 1 coffee shop which was this place. I ordered a iced mocha and they gave me iced coffee with milk and chocolate syrup. I literally had to talk the girl through every step on how to make an iced mocha. And it still came out wrong. The staff was nice however they need some trained baristas.

Had a cupcake and latte yesterday at a business meeting at Canebreak's. Both excellent. Service a tad on the slow side, but this is Natchitoches and no one has to be anywhere anyway. Stop in and enjoy.

Great local coffee shop - knew their coffee, did it right, and even explained it to those who might be newbies. The staff are awesome, friendly people. I got my birthday cake from there one year. I miss this place since I moved away. If you are in town, this place is a must go. Great food, awesome drinks, good cupcakes & dessert, perfect business people.

Visited with family and went to the Canebrake - and ordered a frappuchino or their version and oh was i happy i did, whereas some chains add coffee mixture to ice and blend, here they put hand scooped ice cream of the flavor i chose in with milk and brewed espresso and then added chocolate - oh what a dream.

My wife and I happened upon this place, after a short drive back home from Lafayette for the 4th of July. We had dined at Lasyone's and then decided to hit up some of the shops on Front Street. First off, let me tell you, I don't know what has happened to Nachitoches, or Front Street, but it seemed like every shop had a sign that read, "No Public Restroom!" My wife even bought a $25 item at one of the stores and asked to use the restroom and the sales girl at the register said, "We don't have public restrooms." WTH? Did Front Street turn into Bourbon Street overnight or something? What's been going on there?...I digress... It was the restroom, in all honesty, that brought us into Canebrake. The staff in this coffee shop were extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered a large chicory cafe au lait while my wife utilized the facilities and noticed on the television in the cafe that Casey Anthony had been found not guilty, which made me upset. My wife came out of the restroom, and I got my coffee, tipped the server, and we sat in front of the window looking out at lovely Front Street and the Cane River. We looked out the window, while I finished my coffee and were both deeply saddened by the verdict. I'm sorry, but I guess this is what I will remember about the Canebrake, but in all fairness, it is a fine coffee shop and I hope that the great and many students and Northwestern State will continue to support, as well as the townspeople. See? Having an open door policy for restrooms can bring you business as well! The Canebrake has a very nice, serene, coffee consuming environment. It is very comfortable on the inside and has a nice view to the outside. I hope that one day they will begin to offer beignets with their cafe au lait, and that would be perfect!
