Judging just by the look of the place I wasn't expecting much. It's run down, but clean. Everything seems to have wear on it; the classic greasy spoon. Thankfully, appearances are quite deceiving. I ordered the chicken tender plate with fries and decided to have a quick look around the place while my order was being cooked. Imagine my surprise to discover a small game room that contained pristine cabinets circa late 80's/early 90's. Mario Bros, some ancient football game, Tekken 2. But I wasn't here for the games, I was here for the food. The tenders were lightly fried but not overly greasy and incredibly juicy. The fries were also done perfectly. The plate also came with a side salad, which was standard fare. Ultimately it was a good meal at a decent price (two of us ate for under $30 and had food left over to take home).

This place sends out coupons attached to a menu. They also have an online menu. The prices are not correct on either of them. They hope you will place an order and not notice the differential. It is very simple to put the correct price for the menu on line- but not for these folks.. Expect to pay 20 to 30% more than the stated price. Be careful, very, very careful..

Recently paid a visit due to an available Groupon and I have to say that this place was incredibly underwhelming. First, it is located along a service road next to I10 making is difficult to access. The area surrounding it is full of warehouses (not the best place for a restaurant). Inside, the restaurant smelled like cigarette smoke. Normally, I wouldn't have thought it a big deal but the smoke smell was repressive. There was only one other group inside during our lunch. We ordered two standard Italian fare dishes (Chicken Parm and Lasagna). In all honesty, the food was absolutely terrible. The pasta that accompanied the Chicken Parm was quite literally the cheapest white spaghetti you can buy and the sauce tasted like it came from a Ragu jar. I can't imagine anyone thinking this is what Italian food tastes like. I will not be coming back here.

I'm not sure what the great ratings on this place are for... We were the only people in this restaurant the whole time at 6:30 in the afternoon. I ate eggplant Parmesan and it was really horrible. It looked like an entire box of spaghetti was on my plate and there was hardly any sauce at all. I asked for more sauce but it truly tasted old. My husband tried and it didn't like it either, the eggplant was really rubbery and I could hardly cut it. My husband got a burger and it was pretty good but his fries were brown and over cooked. Definitely won't be back.

As others state, typical NOLA/Metairie dive restaraunt sort of atmosphere, but clean & very friendly. Food is awesome & average decent pricing. I've had the shrimp & roast beef poyboys, they were both very generous portions & delicious, 9 or 12' options, no fries with the poyboys, but didn't need them! My friend would recommend the burger she had & it did come with fries. Haven't used the bathroom or explored beyond my table, they do seem to do a fair amount of call in/take out orders, which is awesome & convenient.

Great fried seafood and po- boys! Love the eggplant sticks. Not to bad on the price either. Fried chicken is great too. Try the Rob's cheese fries

Never had a bad meal, and I eat there on a weekly basis. Good variety, typical local family restaurant.

Bought the Groupon for this place and I'm so glad I did! The food was delicious, and the waitresses were sweet, making us feel welcome and recommending menu items. We got the eggplant sticks as an appetizer and it was huge...I took home 2/3 in a to-go box. I couldn't decide between the Chicken Parmesan Poboy or Meatball Poboy so our waitress said they would do half and half! They were both absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend got the shrimp poboy and he was so impressed (he's hard to please). The portions are enormous - you'll definitely be eating your leftovers for your next meal. So glad we went, and will definitely be back!

The food is good but the place is dirty including bathrooms. Only reason I upgraded stars cos food was good. This place needs a good scrubbing and painting!

Randazzo's Has been a local Favorite for Many years. They are known for Awesome food, Huge portions at Very reasonable prices. Not easy to find, but it is worth the search, because once you arrive you know you found the treasure! They are open for lunch and Dinner. Open late Thurs-Sat. They also serve a good breakfast on weekends. Trust me if you eat here once you WILL be back for more. TIP: Be sure to check the chalk board for the daily specials. You will find unique items at great prices if you ever pass within 50 miles of this place then EAT HERE...EVERYTHING is great!!! Veal Parmesan poboy is my personal favorite, Thick slabs of Breaded and fried Veal Topped with scratch made red gravy (marinara sauce), Provolone cheese, mayo, & Fresh produce (Lettuce, Tomato and Pickle.) All of this on (busting out of is more like it( a crusty french bread loaf!! Your mouth should be watering by now ,,mine is just talking about this poboy!! All of their extensive list of poboys are available on a bun, or on 9 inch or 12 inch french bread loaf. Another staple of this institution is the Rob's Cheese fries. I order these every time. Crispy crinkle cut Fries, topped with 3 cheeses (cheddar, Parmesan, and provolone) then that is topped with Their house made gravy: it is made from the dripping of roast beef that is slow cooked for 12 hours. The gravy has chunks of the tender beef all throughout.....A true treat for the table as an appetizer! Most times I eat so many of these fries that I can only eat a few bites of my entree!!! so be careful and pace yourself! TIP: try adding a few drops of the local hot sauce that will be on your table top. Randazzo's is also well known for their Fried foods such as Chicken & pork chops. It takes a bit longer than most menu items to come out but it is worth the wait. Golden, crispy crust surrounds large pieces of tender chicken or succulent center cut thick pork chops. moist and flavorful to say the least! If you are a fried chicken or pork lover, these are the dishes for you!! I will finish up this review with one of the Soups de jour (soup of the day) The day I went they had Cream of Shrimp and roasted red pepper soup. It was velvety smooth and thick broth with lots of fresh gulf shrimp. Seasoned just right not to spicy but with a small kick. a true creole creation. So in conclusion, you basically can not go wrong at this place. Walk in, sit down, throw a dart at the menu and order what you hit!! You will leave stuffed and satisfied!!!

Purchased a groupon. Lots of food for your money. However, its just ok. We ordered, mozarella sticks, jappenos poppers, garlic fries. We got mozarella sticks, fried mushrooms and garlic cheese bread... Guess the waitress was already preparing for her schedule change (since it occurred during our meal). Don't get me wrong, the service was fine, however we'd appreciate getting the order correct. Taste - just ok, nothing special.

King cake season. Enough said. If you get here on time before they sell out of their amazing king cakes than you are a chosen one

Wonderful! We took our 11 yr old son and this restaurant has a nice family atmosphere-- not to mention the food was excellent! We are from NC and this place had everything from lasagna to oyster po-boys to salad and fettuccini! We will definently add this restaurant to our itinerary when we visit LA again!

I find this restaurant to be very hit or miss. For example, I would usually say that anything with red sauce will be good- their red sauce is thicker and sweet. But I took a friend there and it was kind of lumpy and had a bitter aftertaste. Also, every time I order the spaghetti I ask for angel hair noodles. They get that right about 30% of the time. However there def are some things I really like. The fried shrimp, club sandwich, breakfast and most of the time the pasta dishes are great- especially the chicken parm. The amount of food is a lot so there are always leftovers. And the servers are pretty friendly. A place to try if you are in the area.

We came upon this restaurant accidentally, and were pleasantly surprised! We were shocked at the serving sizes - please do not order appetizer. Server was awesome - extremely accommodating. Unbelievable value for your money. Fast for 12 hours before eating here! Our leftovers weighed 6.5 pounds & yes we weighed them!

We've ordered delivery from Randazzo's a few times and it's always been mediocre. However, the most recent order will be our last. After waiting for 2 hours we got our seafood platter. When we opened our plate there was only one soft shell crab for the extra $5.00 we paid. Then, in the evening we realized that the seafood must have been under cooked as we both had horrible stomach aches and headaches.

With our Groupon in hand we stopped in for an early dinner to check out this place I hadn't heard of before. Tucked away in the corner of a strip-mall, off the service road near Clearview Parkway, on the south side of I-10, this place seemed to get more take-out than dine-in orders when we were here a few weeks ago. We ordered the Fried Catfish appetizer which was pretty fantastic. Plenty of fish nuggets perfectly battered and fried, almost too much for just two people. Then we get a few side salads and split a Fried Pork Chop entree with cole slaw and mac & cheese. The pork chops were great, the sides not so much. Both the slaw and the mac & cheese were kind of dry and if I were to return I would skip those and try something else. The food was fine, not worth going out of your way for, but if you are in the area you will leave with a happy belly and a quenched appetite. As the name states, this is a family restaurant, nothing fancy, just good sized portions of family pleasing foods.

Unfortunately this was the worst burger I've ever consumed in my life :( fries were burnt also ... Not sure of their other dishes but this .. Something so simple was disappointing

Hidden gem ! The food was phenomenal and service was as well. The server was so sweet and very attentive, passing back often to make sure we were happy. I got a burger which was great. It was thick and seasoned well and reminded me of one my mom would've made growing up with lots of cheddar and a thick very fresh bun. Best sweet potato fries i've ever had. My husband got the grilled chicken with vegetables and salad. He all but licked the plate! We will be back and I'll probably get that burger again. Excellent prices.

We recently got take out from here and it was pretty good. The place is a little hard to find. It's hidden away off the Service Road in a little rundown strip center. Parking isn't very good either. We got a bbq beef poboy and the combination seafood platter. Both were really good. They do not give as much seafood as other places do, but the quality was very good. I also liked that their Ranch dressing tasted like real buttermilk Ranch. We found the price for our meals to be a little higher than we expected, but the food was very tasty.

They've stepped up their game with customer service. I guess they hired new staff. Thank God! Food is great.. our favorite is the Rob's fries. I get them to delivery. Expect at least an hour wait. I would give then a try.

Best chicken fettuccine!!! Rob's cheese fries is a must get. The gravy is yum yum. They make the ranch in house which is excellent. Veal parmesan poboy is a mess of goodness. Great fried chicken. Yummy potatoe salad. And the staff is the sweetest ever!!!

I saw other reviews and figured since I was in the area I'd try it out. The service was fine. She was attentive and prompt. I ordered the veal parmesan which came with a side house salad. The salad was blah but the ranch I ordered on the side was pretty good actually. The veal was fried to perfection...absolutely delish. The marinara sauce however, was probably the worst I have ever had. It was so bitter and bland. Just plain disappointing. Normally, I wouldn't have room for dessert, but since I hardly a touched my dinner I ordered the turtle cheesecake. Cheesecake was the highlight. Yes they covered it with Hershey syrup out of the bottle and jarred caramel. But the cheesecake itself was really tasty. I am positive that this is a one visit kinda place.

The food is homestyle NOLA delicious & fresh! Portions are plentiful. The service is always fast, courteous & friendly. Caluda's king cakes during Mardi Gras!

  • Diane M.

Buyer beware...Huge price increases not reflected on online menu! This is Italian? What a joke! This is NOLA style. Also, the portion looks big- if you like fillers. The sauce is a disgrace to NY, the world ...unknown spices! I've been to 28 countries including the third world and NEVER tasted anything like it! It was all breading on the expensive veal cutlet parmigiana. Spaghetti which was horrible because of the sauce. Two good things...the salad was one of the freshest and best and the bread is real Italian-American style.

The lasagna here has the most meat of any lasagna I've ever had and they also offer it in an Alfredo sauce version if you prefer (I couldn't finish the full size version so the half size lunch portion might be the best choice). The roast beef po boy here probably has the most meat on it of any roast beef po boy I've ever eaten so plan accordingly as it is also quite nice and sloppy. They have very large burgers and will often do daily special burgers. The seafood gumbo here is quite respectable and is usually of the hard gumbo crab with shrimp variety. They offer a lot of bang for the buck here and portions are huge. Service is fast and friendly here and they have some nice specials. The only downside is the location and parking make it a bit dangerous to get in and out of the tight space on the angled road that doesn't have the best viability.

I ordered catering from Randazzo's for my New Year's Eve party. My order was ready exactly on time and perfectly packaged. I had the chicken tenders, mini po-boys, and a half pan of macaroni and cheese. I must say, they have outdone themselves. The po-boys were stacked with meat, the tenders were crunchy, and the macaroni was the cheesiest I've ever had from a catering order anywhere! Thanks for making the night delicious and I hope you and the family have a wonderful 2015!

Great catering! Oyster dressing was good. Candied sweet potatoes & spinach artichoke dip were AMAZING. Everything ready on time as promised and hot. Definitely recommend!

This is the place to go of you want BIG FOOD THAT'S GOOD. I thought I was ordering small by getting a turkey sandwich on a bun. No way! That sandwich was huge and good. The Rob's fries were delicious. A wonderful gravy and cheese mess! Definitely will be back again.

The service was fine, even though she was the only server working and had 2 large tables (including a party of 20) to take care of as well. She did as well as she could. I was not pleased with my steak at all. I didn't mention it since it seemed like it was a rough night for the staff and I didn't want to make it worse for them. (Having worked in a restaurant for 8 years prior to my current job at a bank, I am extra considerate of the service industry.) The steak was one of the worst I've had and I will probably never get it again. It tasted strange (like it may have been past date), it had some dryness and toughness to it (a ribeye should be juicy), and it could have been seasoned better. The baked potato that came it was fine. My wife got the grilled chicken breast with mixed veggies, the portion was nice, but the chicken was over seasoned and had a little spiciness to it. We got the stuffed artichoke appetizer which we love and have never been disappointed with it. We will go back to this place because we generally have had good experiences there in the past, but I'm not getting the steak again. I'll stick with their other dishes, I've had better luck with their daily specials. This 2 star review is only based on tonight's visit. Averaged in with all the other times we've been there in the past, I'd probably give it 3.5 to 4 stars. I will adjust my rating after my next visit.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
