Before this was a Lee's it was a bakery. One run by part of my family, actually. So walking in is always an odd experience for me since I know the space so well even though it's been remodeled in the years since I was last there. But that odd feeling only lasts a moment and soon the delicious smell of burgers pulls me from my reverie. I'm a big fan of Lee's and always visited the one on Vets down by Oaklawn. I spent my weekends in the neighborhood behind there when I was growing up and my friends and I always got lunch there on Saturday. So walking into a location on Metairie Rd that has one tiny menu board listing just the burger with the works and fries while there are four larger menu boards showing a bunch of sandwiches that I've never seen at Lee's is a bit odd. If there wasn't a sign with the name outside I never would have guessed that this place sells Lee's burgers. Really, this is more like a sandwich shop (that also proudly proclaims it has ice cream as well) that just has the Lee's name and signature burger. It's like a franchise, like a Starbucks inside a book store. It's not really a Starbucks but still has what you go there for. So, what about the burgers? Well, they are exactly what I expect in my Lee's burger. They're full of onions, moist and delicious. The recipe and love of burgers is there, as are the fries. The setting may have changed but the food is just as good.

This location has the largest burgers of any of the lee's. they also have sandwiches that you can't get at the other lee's around town. Great service, great food! Get the Works burger dressed.

The atmosphere of the place is okay. It's a fairly small place and looks like a mom and pop shop. I got the burger combo meal and it was good but I wouldn't say it's something special. If you're looking for a good ole fashioned hamburger this is the place. The fries on the side were great too. Hot and crispy.

flavorless burgers. This was my first visit to a Lees hamburgers. I asked for the Chilicheese burger and onion rings. The onion rings were delicious, but the burger bland at best.

I gotta say, I'm never all that impressed with Lee's... I always get the dressed cheeseburger and chili cheese fries, and I always leave unsatisfied. The burger today had a dry, very slightly stale bun that took away from the overall taste, and the meat really is pretty bland. They cook the burgers on a griddle with a "cone" of onions atop that always makes my mouth water as I watch it cook, but then ends up delivering a less than exciting taste... Today we had an issue with the fries... I ordered the chili cheese fries, and our order was to-go. So, after the bags were packed, my friend and I picked everything up off the counter and started making our way to the door. The kid at the counter forgot to mention that the bag with the fries needs to stay level... soooo, by the time we got to the front door, the bag was vertical and a nice helping of chili grease was all over the floor and my buddy's pants. When we went back to the counter, the kid informed my friend that he bagged the fries separately to avoid exactly what happened, he just forgot to tell us about it... he took the fries back, and before re-bagging them, dumped a giant helping of additional chili and grease into the tray. After getting home and eating the fries, we were not all that impressed... the chili was overwhelming, and there was not enough cheese. I ended up adding garlic salt in an attempt to get some taste going... Final observation... while waiting for our order, we noticed that the table we were sitting at was filthy... sticky, spilled salt, etc... it always bothers me when a restaurant staff doesn't take the time to walk around and clean up a little, especially when the floor is not busy with customers. BOTTOM LINE: I would much prefer a burger and chili cheese fries from at least two or three other places I can think of, including Bud's Broiler...

The hamburger are to die for. The fries are so yummy. It's not healthy food, but damn is really good diner food. Must try!
