Good food. We especially like their soups. Our server, Renee, was delightful. Service with a smile! The green beans were good if a little spicy for our taste. We plan on going back for the soup and half a po-boy before we leave town.

Absolutely loved this place! Great vibe, casual, comfortable, no frills, but great service and food. Clean, prompt, pleasant, polite. Food was fantastic. Go with an open mind and you will be pleased! Pretty location and view. Will def. go back when I'm in town!!

Disappointing experience. From the crowds I was expecting amazing food. Ordered the Blackened catfish with crawfish bordelaise. The catfish was a SMALL paper thin piece that was so over-cooked I needed a sharp knife to cut. The crawfish was overcooked and dried out as well. Won't be back.

Morton's is a great seafood restaurant. I hadn't been to Morton's in a really long time, but was craving a waterfront seafood restaurant. Morton's is technically across the street from the water, but it is definitely my kind of place. Morton's is a traditional seafood restaurant like the ones I grew up with. If you're familiar with Bruning's, Russel's or Friend's; it's that kind of place. They offer nearly every variety of local seafood in a casual relaxing environment. The one thing you need to be prepared for is a wait. Morton's is very popular and often fills up. I called ahead when I was nearly there and lucked out with no wait. Shortly after being seated, the onslaught of humanity began. If you are planning on going and don't want to wait, call ahead or plan to come during off peak hours. This particular meal was made even more special because I took my mom with me. I don't know if she realized the significance of us coming here, but I sure did. You see, this is the type of place we went when I was a kid. restaurants like this are permanently etched into my brain. Getting to experience that again with her was really special. OK, enough reminiscing and back to the review. My entree was the fried shrimp platter and fries. This is my absolute favorite dish to order in a seafood restaurant, and their version did not disappoint. I didn't take a count before I started eating, but I'd bet there were almost 20 shrimp on that plate. They were perfectly fried and a great value. Normally when eating fried shrimp I mix up a batch of ketchup and Tabasco for dipping. The ratio is usually three parts Tabasco to one part ketchup and this time was no different. What was different is that I actually used and enjoyed their tartar sauce that accompanied the platter. That is an extremely rare occurrence for me as most tartar sauce gets tossed on the ground forcefully upon tasting. So even after this awesome meal, why did Morton's only rate four stars? It was the service. While it was not horrible, I felt like the server was too busy and left us somewhat abandoned. In summary, Morton's is awesome. If you find yourself around Madisonville and are in need of some great seafood, give Morton's a try.

Being new to town we are exploring all the Northshore has to offer! We went for an early dinner, I had the catfish po' boy and the hubby had the boiled shrimp. We shared the fried crab claws. Everything was very fresh, the batter on the fried for was crunchy and not greasy, seasoning on the boiled shrimp had just enough spice. Location was great, we sat on the patio, service was good as well.

We stopped here mid-afternoon on a weekday. There were just a couple of other tables occupied. I ordered a soft shelled crab sandwich that was scarcely edible and tasted like old seafood. it was priced off of the charts which made it even more disappointing. I usually drive past Morton's as I had never found the food other than old New Orleans fried side as we call it. It struck a new low this trip.

Love this place - it's kinda like Cheers, everyone knows your name & Trent and Dawn are amazing. The food is fantastic, can beat the service, and did I mention the food? Wow. My favorite is Mortons Seafood Salad ... Long Island Ice Tea is the best around and the oysters always taste delicious. Oh, and Trent is awesome ...

We had a great lunch today at Morton's! Best raw oysters I've had in years; MUCH better than Acme's Texas imported oysters. Onion rings were killer - the best I've ever had. Didn't need a drop of ketchup. The cup of seafood gumbo and half a po-boy special was also fantastic. Also, I tasted mother's Seafood Salad which was huge and covered in big shrimp and crab meat. Only reason Morton's didn't get a five is because they were out of so many things: chicken, crawfish, etc. It was a long list. Chris our waiter provided great service and apologized for the missing items. He stated it was a busy weekend. 3 delivery trucks showed up during the meal so maybe come after Monday lunch. We'll be back for the half priced oysters and half priced beer (their Thursday special) soon!

I've been coming here since I was a child. Great place in Madisonville to eat, right on the river. Great food and drinks! Love this place!

The absolute best fried shrimp I can find. I do not like thick battered shrimp that seems to be coated in bread and almost all you can find now. Not here. The shrimp was fried perfectly. Oysters were also perfect. I was very impressed and happy. Service was excellent. 3rd visit so far and I cannot stop thinking about it. Cannot wait to go back.

I have been dining here for 15-20 years, when Morton was here. I keep coming back. The absolute finest oyster loaf, but don't' forget the crawfish!!!

First time there and was quite impressed. Crawfish was awesome. French bread on poboys was nice and soft. I will be back.

I was over in Madisonville for a family lunch. And this was the chosen spot since visiting family wanted seafood. The appetizers of onion rings and marinated crab claws were delicious! We had an assortment of dishes so I can't remember them all. My Mom & Aunt really enjoyed their softshell crab plate. I had the gulf fish of the day (which was mahi mahi AKA Gulf dolphin which is NOT porpoise). My little nieces got a cheese pizza (I know) and a fried shrimp poboy. One of my brother's had another fish special. The food was all OK to good. But the location on the Tchefuncte River cannot be beat. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you're on the Northshore.

Very good selection of seafood. They have everything from ahi tuna to boiled crawfish. Good drink menu too. Located right on the river.

So, a few friends and I ventured into Madisonville to eat here because one person in our group suggested it and said she had an amazing experience last time she was there. Okay, I'll try it. My were we all disappointed. First of all, the service: its spotty, eh service. Maybe because it was busy.. But still. In the beginning, we had one waitress come up and take our order. But after that, we never saw her again unless we specifically needed her or at the end for the checks. After taking our order, the only people coming around to help clean up and refill drinks were these bus boys... Which is is fine, if they didn't bother us every 5 mins. It got pretty annoying after awhile. Okay, now the food: its just okay. I've had much much better food elsewhere. Pretty sad since they're supposed to be known for their seafood. I ordered the special baked lobster tail, steamed broccoli, and roasted potatoes dish. Honestly... I enjoyed the steamed broccoli the most from the whole dish. That's sad. The lobster wasn't overcooked or anything, it just wasn't that great. My friends ordered the crabmeat stuffed Snapper and a Blackened Tilapia with Crawfish Bordelaise. Both of the dishes were just okay as well. The Crabmeat stuffed Snapper was probably the best dish of all of our picks. I might give it a try again, maybe it was just a bad day for them but for the first time there, it wasn't too impressive.

Went for lunch. We each had a half PoBoy, with choice of soup -we picked shrimp bisque. Soup was very good, and the PoBoy was equal to any I have had. I also ordered a plate of onion rings...they are awesome, and they hand bread them to order. I will return any time I visit my friends in Beau Chene.....and that's several times a year! Highly recommended. By the way - you will get a history lesson if you walk over to the historical marker a few steps from the Mortons front porch......it refers to the Battle of New Orleans in 1814.

This trip, to what we hoped to be a restaurant with good crawfish after eating at 2 others in New Orleans with very, very disappointing crawfish, started out with an unexpected trip across that awesome world renowned 22 mile causeway. Not being from here and knowing that restaurants can have good and bad days, thank god that day was a very good day for us. Some of the best crawfish I've ever had, especially at $4.50 a pound?? View was good. Service was good. I could see how people could mention price, but price is online and on the menu. We thought for what we ordered, it was worth it.

Ordered the fried soft shell crab platter last night, my date ordered the grilled mahi. I've never had a bad soft shell crab in my life till this one. The batter was soggy and way too salty, and later I was feeling sick. Terrible. My date gave me a bite of his mahi and I regret not ordering that.

Fried seafood, more fried seafood, and fried sides. If you're on a healthy eating diet, this might not be the place for you. However, read the fine print: I ordered a house salad with seared ahi tuna on top. The prices are pretty high, too, but they are serving fresh, local caught seafood. The service is also great. The environment is family friendly and right on the water. Parking can be difficult, and you might have to wait awhile, but it's one of the more popular restaurants in the area.

Great drink specials, movie esc location. Apps were above average. My wife told me their fried seafood was good, I got the Mahi Mahi & it was the worst fish I have ever eaten by far.

The boyf, being from the Northshore, really wanted to come to this place. It was a beautiful afternoon and he's all "We can sit outside by the water! ". Ok fair enough The food was good. We had fried crab claws as our appetizer. He says never to get the non-fried kind because "they're gross." I had the Grilled Wahoo with Shrimp & Mirliton casserole and some really, really buttery-ass and garlic-y-ass vegetables on the side. There was so much minced garlic on those veggies, what the hell? He had the Grilled Amberjack with creamed spinach and sliced yams on the side. I tasted everything on his plate and I wished I would have ordered what he got. While we were eating our meal, the mosquitos of Mandeville feasted on my blood. It was a beautiful evening but we forgot that mosquitos also love beautiful evenings. I just counted 7 bites on my butt and left foot combined. I'm being stingy and giving 3 stars because of the service. It was real slow. The servers didnt have their act together and the food took forever to come out. I overheard one table on the patio (which had been there for at least 15 minutes) ask a bus boy "um, do they have any idea that we're ready to order?" It was clear that they had been forgotten. I'd come back here without protesting, but I'll be eating inside.

Good place for local seafood favorites. Popular in the evenings. Sit on the patio and watch the boats on the river.

This place was ordinary and should be embarrassed to operate in SE Louisiana. The 'famous' seafood salad was spicy and may have had a shrimp or two and maybe a thimble-full of crab meat. The Shrimp - wrapped in bacon over onion rings app. was particularly disturbing. Why a chef would prepare a sugary fluid and put onion rings in it is beyond logic. Does the management know how horrible that was?

This was our third choice for dining out on s Monday as Friends and the Crabby Shack were both closed on Mondays. I had my heart set on the crawfish, but was informed they had just run out. I ordered the dozen oysters instead and was very satisfied with the large size of the oysters. My cousin ordered the shrimp bisque, again they had just ran out! UGGGGh! She settled on the gumbo. At $7.00 for the small cup felt a bit cheated. My little cousin ordered the boiled shrimp. Hard to peel but tasted ok. The calamari was completely blah! No pizaaz! Service initially was initially good but as the meal wore on, it became spotty. On a Monday it worked because the other places were closed, but any other night of the week, I'd go elsewhere.

Great location and great food. We frequent this place about two to three times a month. Seafood is the best on the North Shore and located in the heart of Madisonville. We had a party of five and everyone was impressed with the food and the service. Started off with the onion rings and of course Abita Beer. Gumbo was awesome, boiled shrimp, boiled crabs, . . . . . everything was good.

Bad vibe from kitchen staff, but very good food. The vibe came from me having to ask what on the menu contained absolutely no hot spices, the waitress was gone for quite a time and seemed flustered upon returning to tell me that the chef said absolutely EVERYTHING contained cajun seasoning. I would of left at this point but I was with company so persevered by asking about the oysters on the half shell.....which of course had no spices of any kind. Anyway I ordered a half dozen and my friend had the shrimp basket. The oysters were delicious! Large, sweet, cold and only $6. I tasted one of my friends shrimp and detected absolute no hot spices and they were very very good with a nice light batter. Then there computer was down and big to do about credit cards and us having to find cash. So my experience was a mixed bag here.

Update 12/29/14. We're back again. It's been a year since we were last here. We came in 12/27/14. Wife & I each had fried shrimp dinners. As we remembered the shrimp was excellent. We stopped in again a couple of days later for just a quick bite to eat. Could not resist the temptation and had shrimp poboy. Shrimp once again excellent. The bread was outstanding! Nice crisp but not dry crust. The inside was as light as cotton candy. Flavor was beyond outstanding. Since our last review yelp has corrected its map to show Mortons correct location. Yelp's map shows Mortons about 1 block north of Rt 22. The map is incorrect. Mortons is on the south side of Rt 22. We were here 12/27/13. A couple of times every year we drive from central IL just to eat fried shrimp at Mortons. We told our waitress that but she didn't believe us. We brought friends with us from IL for the week. They talked all week how great the food was. They were impressed with how fresh the oysters were and they know oysters. As usual we weren't disappointed. However we were disappointed not open for new years eve. We'll be back in a few months.

Worth the trip to Madisonville. I live here so I go all the time. I never order off the menu, look at the big chalkboard for the specials. Fried seafood is great, too. Very casual as you will see boat people in there in the summer.

came here with the boyfriend's family. great seafood. never had such big oysters before! but i am from out of town, so maybe that's why. everything on the menu apparently is delicious, and everything i tasted, which was plenty, was delicious. would probably come here every week if i lived in town.

i had a nice lunch here on the porch. food was just ok and service was good. i had the fried catfish nuggets which were good with the sauces, and the crab cakes. the crab cakes were a little too mushy for my liking and needed more crab and less stuffing, so i had to sauce them up too. i had a bite of the softshell crab poboy which was ok. i will come here again to try other things.

We have been to Morton's on occasion for some time and have always loved it. We travel over from Hammond to eat there because we love the food. The last couple times we went, we noticed that the crowds had thinned out considerably, but we didn't care much because the quality of the food was still high. We ate there tonight because it'd been probably a year since the last visit. Not busy at all... all the servers were different, probably from the former wait staff not making any money. We sat and had our food order put in pretty quickly. The salads, on the other hand, took waaaaay too long to get to the table when it was as slow as it was. Anyway, my son and I both ordered fried catfish. The server, who was clearly either new or just had no clue how to wait tables, came back and said they were out of catfish. Um, ok... how do you sell out of anything when you have no customers? Had it been busy, I'd understand. There was no excuse for running out of catfish when you are a SEAFOOD restaurant... and it's one of the specials. Anyway, so I changed my order to what my husband was having... another special with the wilted spinach and yam medallions (we always get that anyway). The server comes back AGAIN to say they are out of the yam medallions. Huh? Who's doing the food ordering at this place?! OK so I get the red potatoes instead and husband gets another order of spinach. The food comes out and my son refuses to eat because he's upset that he couldn't get his catfish and doesn't want the chicken strips. The fries were nasty (they used to be great), so there went his experience... he sat there sad the whole meal. As for my meal and husband's meal, the whole thing was a disaster. The Mahi Mahi was underseasoned and way overcooked...dry dry dry. I didn't even eat half of mine. The spinach used to be fresh whole spinach without cheese on it. I didn't mind the cheese on it this time, but it was clearly frozen chopped spinach. One of the spinach sides of my husband's wasn't even heated all the way through. I used to be a server and I couldn't help but notice the lack of leadership in that place now. I heard other servers having to come back and tell their customers that they didn't know that the kitchen was out of certain items. Huge lack of communication. I was noticing the "uniforms" that some of the girls were wearing. The khaki shorts were ridiculous... and even one server's khaki shorts were so tight, it was disgusting. There used to be a manager walking around and asking all the tables if everything was ok. No more of that apparently. Probably because they know they'll get nothing but horrible feedback! I could go on and on and on about how unsatisfying this meal was and how disappointed we were! We are never going back. I mean never. That was enough. My suggestion is to avoid this place like the plague. This ship is going down.. and fast!

I came here on recommendation of a co-worker who makes it a point to stop by here whenever he comes back home to the area. Being a Yankee on a long road trip to Florida, I was quite eager to give this place a try, and I was not disappointed. The seafood was tasty and well spiced, and the gumbo was wonderful. Its right on the Tchefuncte river and have some nice views from the restaurant.

Beautiful springlike day, the food and service was very good, we had the grilled wahoo and amberjack with the Brie appetizer. Nice view of the Tchefuncte River Definitely recommended.
