The "meat and three" for lunch was just right. The simplified lunch menu makes it easy to decide on what your gonna eat! You have to have pie if you go to Lea's. Waitress said coconut is their best seller but I opted for pecan...after all, this is the South.

This is NOT a place for picky eaters. The menu is posted on the wall. Choose from 4 different meat portions and all come with the same three side dishes. Comparable to eating at your moms house. If you don't like it don't eat it... If you're hungry than eat. Nothing wow. Food was yummy. Was disappointed at the small portion of de-boned baked chicken on the plate. My five year old wanted more... We asked waitress for more meat for her and she brought it right out- with no extra charge. Friendly and accommodating staff. Like being at home. Dessert (pie is the only option ) is the main reason to detour and enjoy this homely atmosphere. Very laid back. Overall great dine in experience. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and kids) and we ate for $45 (including 3 slices of pie) (fYi: banana was our favorite)

We stopped in just in time. They were packing up and closing. We were greeted warmly and they accommodated us with a slice of cherry and pecan pie! I also grabbed a smaller version of the pecan as well. My cutie and I excitedly opened the containers that held our slices and shoved it into our mouths. We both tasted each other's. The cherry was tart with the right amount of crust. The pecan is and always will be my favorite! There are no words to explain how good this pecan pie was!!! I wish it was calorie and carb free. I wish we bought a whole pie. Next time:)

The fried chicken, dressing and potato salad were really good. I did not eat my peas and carrots, although my hubs say they go great together (he was probably doing a Forrest Gump reference). The pie...I had chocolate meringue and hubs had peacan...which they boast about. I tried both, as did the hubs...and honestly did not care much for either. The meringue was not pretty on any of the meringue pies (which is cheating in my book) and the pecans tasted like dirt. I don't see us making a stop here again when we drive through as often as we do. But, it could have been an off day for them. The service was great and the place is extremely clean.

There are sometimes when one feels so ripped off after a meal.,,this was one of them...basically $7.00 for a "slice" oh ham....I do not exaggerate - less meat than in a lunchable....on a flat hamburger bun. I could not tell you the quality as there was not enough... Absolutely no value whatsoever. Don't be fooled by the hype....keep driving,

I've seen mixed reviews but I've heard their pies are awesome. Took a short detour off of I 49 to try it out. I was attended to quickly and had my beverage within 2 minutes. The daily menu is simple and has a couple of selections. I had the red beans and rice w a cornbread muffin. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Simply done which made it perfect. The lemon meringue pie was to die for. Would visit again. Time has stood still here. The music, the furniture and the service....I must say that I like it that way!

Two stars for being quaint and presumably good based on the other reviews. However myself and my dear friend did not have an opportunity to enjoy their food as not one person, whether a cashier ,server, or manager took the time to greet us. Our dogs baking in the sun, we wanted to order to go but nobody waited on us...even after we walked up to the bakery case and asked an unoccupied staff woman the price of a pie. She did not help us. Nor did the server who was understandably busy talking to her friends and showing off her baby nephew. But the cashier and another server were also too busy talking amongst themselves to be bothered. So who could bother them? Keep in mind this is after we asked the staff member about their great pie. Lousy service and an unneeded 15 minute wait to be recognized ensured that this "quaint " little restaurant rest in our rear view mirror. A slice of Louisiana that left a bitter taste in our mouth.

Cute diner not to far off the beaten path....I REALLY wanted to love this place, but it was just okay...maybe my expectations were too high because of the billboard claiming them as the "Pie Capitol of Louisiana". My ham was overly salty and mushy--my son nailed it when he said it tasted like raw bacon. Pies were okay, but not great. The crusts were really hard, and they only had fruit pies and merengue pies--no cream topped pies, which are my favorite, and something I would expect the Pie Capitol to offer. I will have to say the Collard Greens were amazing! Worth a 5 minute drive off the highway if its around meal time, but don't starve yourself for 75 miles to get there. I'd give it 3 stars, but it's a little overpriced for what you get at an out of the way "Meat and 3". I may stop there again next time I'm passing through, because hopefully they were having an off day-and like I said, I REALLY wanted to love it!

Poor cafeteria style food. Not too great. One of the main meals was a ham sandwich which was 5.50. The meals were very expensive for what you got. The service was nice though.

Oh Sweet Jesus!.....it is almost impossible to explain how good this place is. I lived in Central LA for a while and I would travel out of my way to this restaurant as often as I could. At first glance, it really isn't much to look at...just a small town diner located on a busy state highway with what can only be described as a limited menu at best: Ham sandwiches, a special-of-the-day plate lunch, strong Louisiana coffee and homemade pies. It may not sound like much, but take my word for it, it's enough.... Their now famous ham sandwich consists of a combination of sliced, home-baked ham and ground ham plus lettuce, tomato and pickle on a sandwich bun. The only other items are a daily plate lunch with three choices of meat and locally raised vegetables and of course, the renowned pies. Let us not forget the cracklin'cornbread and especially the bread pudding, which I have made a trip to this restaurant entirely for by itself. It is unique from other bread puddings, but the best I have ever had. Lea's Lunchroom bakes eight different types of pies each morning. The daily flavors include coconut, lemon, chocolate, banana, apple, peach, cherry and the best-selling flavor, pecan. The six seasonal flavors are pumpkin, mincemeat, sweet potato, blueberry, blackberry and dewberry. Lea's homemade pies are listed in the Louisiana Hall of Fame and were selected as a favorite by Louisiana Life magazine readers. In March 2001, the Louisiana Legislature proclaimed Lecompte the Pie Capitol of Louisiana, and every governor since John M. Parker has eaten a meal at this restaurant. When your pies get you on the Johnny Carson show, you know they are good. It's also reported that the renowned outlaws Bonnie and Clyde had a meal at the original location in the early 1930's. Geographically located on highway 71, exactly between New Orleans and Shreveport, and now with a new location right off of I-49. Closed on Mondays. I wish I could grant them more than five stars....and If I were on death row, I would request two ham sandwiches, a plate lunch with cracklin' cornbread, two bread puddings, and a slice of everything.

It's almost impossible to describe this roadside treat. I went in expecting an amazing meal, thanks to some fellow Yelpers, and it didn't disappoint! Melt in your mouth pie, with delicious entrees! There's a second location in Monroe, but I haven't stopped there yet. If it's even ten percent of what the Lecompte location is, I'd still eat at the Monroe one. It's on a relatively busy highway, but still feels like you've stepped into a time machine.

Breakfast was amazing and way under priced. The potatoes were great. But the sausage gravy blew everything away. I've never had a better sausage gravy anywhere else. Get there early, It sounded like they ran out just after our order. We didn't get to enjoy any of their pies, but if they were half as good as the breakfast, go get one now.

What a great place to stop whether your coming or going en route to the "Big Easy". What once used to be a major stop on Highway 71until 49 was built, this roadside diner has stood the test of time. Known for their ham and wonderful pies, Lea's is a classic. Drop in for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner, they close at 5 (and are closed on Monday's) be ready for some traditional home cooking. Have a blue plate special, listed on the chalk boards through out the place; the roasted chicken will warm your soul. Their ham sandwich is killer; ham two ways, sliced and chopped on a bun with mayo - don't dare ask for that to be changed! I always get one to go, for when you get that little urge... Top all this off with a slice of pie. Hands down, THIS PLACE HAS SET THE BAR FOR PECAN PIE in my book. Holy Moses!! I look forward to getting by here anytime I come close and I, for sure, tell everyone I know who may be driving, either coming or going, to the Big Easy!!! Enjoy!! Love to Lecompte!! Average food at best and fairly expensive considering how small the lunch portions are - I would not recommend. The food was quite bland - which in Southern Louisiana is VERY surprising... Service was also problematic...you have been warned.

I've been coming here since I was a child and I must say it is one of my favorite places on the planet. The ham sandwiches are perfection and the pie (coconut cream or cherry for me!) is beyond perfection. I agree with Kimberly A "time has stood still here" and I love it.

Great Homemade Pies---my favorite is Coconut but Lemon Meringue is a close second. I must note, there is an angry sign-maker on staff. Angry signs EVERYWHERE!!!!

The Banana Pie is filled with pudding and only has 4 slices of banana per slice. The ham was ok, but get the fried chicken. The portions are larger. When you do get pie, because that's probably why you came, make sure they warm it first.

Got off highway during road trip based on yelper reviews. Since I had a dog in the car I could not eat inside. Classic old diner with incredible pies in the case. It was breakfast time but I got there ham sandwich to go. True to reviews it was great, and I don't ever order ham sandwiches. Hard to describe. Just goes down easy and I could have eaten more than one! So good. And the pies. Killer. Had a slice of chocolate meringue that was awesome. Airy and delicious. Took a whole coconut meringue in the car that was devoured my family and friends that night. Happy I got off the exit to try this gem.
