I don't know how they're still in business! They have a simple menu. Nothing special or even normal from other donut shops. Maple what? Meche's is a local donut shop that does good, Because locals don't know anything better. Sad. Oh in case you want to bring me to court, my name is Jamie Grames. Meche's is boring by donut standards!

Nope. This is not what donuts are supposed to be. Bready, heavy, overly sweet and lacking in flavor all at the same time? Ugh. Surprised this chain gets such high marks. We ended up throwing away most of what we got. Maybe it's just a taste preference, but it's hard to screw up a glazed donut, and these guys totally did it. One star for the check-out girl, who was a doll. Otherwise, just nope.

Two words, Bavarian Creme. These donuts and the king cake is definitely worth the trip. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

Donuts good. Attitude and friendliness toward Customers is very poor. I won't be back

This location is cool, but in a different way from the Rue Louis location. While Rue Louis is spare and industrial, Willow is old house cozy. But the donuts are just as good. Catch them early in the morning right out of the fryer still warm from the fat. Oh wow...these are good!

The MECHE'S DONUT KING needs an attitude adjustment! Pronounced "mesh" and meaning 'wick' and I have ABSO-FRICKIN-LUTLY what that means because as I have stated before I had nooo desire to learn French when I was a kid from my parents, thus becoming a disappointment for the first time! But I've managed to get along in life just fine without it except when I'm in Paris (where I DON'T live but would love too) and here for the most part! A KING CAKE is basically a GI-NORMOUS DONUT decorated in Mardi Gras colors, icing and cane be plain or has fillings like the jelly or cream filling donuts! The is also a little baby inside each cake. Who ever get the baby is supposed to get a gift or something! Sort of a little game. Most just eat the cake and enjoy it! The ONLY reason I was here is because I was down for Mardi Gras and completely had a brain fart and didn't pre-order my King Cake before I got there. I wanted to see if I could put in an order but NOT to my surprise it was a RESOUNDING NO! I thought I could pick one up on my way out but FAT TUESDAY is a holiday (only in Louisiana) were all the best parades and partying happens thus everything is LOCKED UP TIGHT as a DRUM! Contrary to what most people think Mardi Gras is not one day (FAT TUESDAY) but a few weeks of parades and partying until FAT TUESDAY when everything comes to a head and you go all out. Then if your Catholics you go to Mass to repent for all the sinning and fornication you did (called Ash Wednesday) and give something up for Lent! That is TRULY the VERY BASIC explanation for YELP purposes so I can move on. If you want a more in-depth explanation go look it up! I'm NOT a history teacher! All orders were boxed and ret-to-go for pickup. The ONLY way I was going to get one was to ORDER from UPS and have it overnighted home to Cali to the tune of just around $100 for a large KING cake no filling! The more fillings the pricier the cake! So this is how it works...You call a MECHE'S location and they will give you the 800 number to UPS! You call UPS and they will take your order over the phone and then they pick up, box and ship to the address you provide! Pretty simple and WAYYY EXPENSIVE! While I LOVE, LOVE KING cake it is REALLY NOT worth spending nearly $100 to get one! It's just a DONUT for crying out loud! Most people just buy any knock off and pass it off for a GOOD KING cake to their family and friends or they don't know any better which is pretty sad! To go that far and TAKE HOME A FAKE LV, MK, Coach bag I mean KING cake is down right WORNG! The staff was NOT overly FRIENDLY and I had a hard time asking questions! I would ask a question and they would say "were not making any more, we only have orders for pick up". What that had to do with them asking a question about fillings I don't know! So I would ask another question about sizes and I would get the "We are not taking any orders we only have cakes ready for pick up"! This was really beginning to piss me off that I could not get a simple question answered without the little mantra they had going! REALLY who S*IT in your Cheerios this morning? After around my 4th question and still NO REAL answer I decide to save my money and NOT get a cake and just leave before their HORRIBLE ATTITUTED rubbed off on me! REALLY is this how you treat out of towners or customers period? Yes I get you were not taking orders but I didn't even ask to put one in. I just wanted answers so I could make a qualified decision "IF" I wanted to order through UPS! It was so bad that another customer that had come in asking questions had the same problem and I had to answer his question for them about calling UPS and placing an order! WHAT! How crazy is that! They didn't even offer up the number! HELLO where is the CUSTOMER SERVICE? Ok, ok I get everyone was tired and up to their eye-balls in cake but to just be rude is UNACCEPTABLE! Where is that WARM SOUTHERN CHARM and just plan ole manners anyone should have working where you interact with customers! I did manage to get one because my friend's family ordered a bunch WAAY before hand because a family member was crowned King but the ATTUTDE at this location was STIFFLING and I doubt I'd be back or send anyone here! SO SAD! The cakes might be the best but the ATTITUDE here SUCKS as well as the SERVICE! They defiantly have a STICK SHOVED up their butts here! If you want a KING CAKE order well ahead of time and get BAVARIAM CREAM inside! BUT don't order form this location! They have several different fillings but the BAVARIN CREAM is BOMB!

We just received a large Meche's King Cake delivered by UPS to our office here in Emeryville, CA. It's one of the best I've had. We received a 50-50: chocolate and Bavarian Crème. Yes, it's fried and I think that's what makes it so addicting. Happy Mardi Gras, y'all!
