My wife and I split the Italian feast. Word of warning, it's enough for 3-4 people. Of the items, I suggest the eggplant parmigiana or the lasagna, they're fantastic - some of the best I've had. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the atmosphere. It just doesn't seem very welcoming and the seats are cheap cafeteria style.

Soon after moving to Lafayette, I began looking for a good "non-chain" pizza place. A few people recommended Alesi's and I tried it but I wasn't really impressed. Between my wife, my son and I, we ordered an enormous pizza, some buffalo wings and some pasta. The wings were very disappointing. They were not cooked or sauced properly and weren't very good. The pasta was watery on the plate and the sauce was anything but homemade. The pizza was not terrible but it was far from the quality I was expecting. It was a very big pizza and was loaded with all the toppings we ordered but the ingredients all seemed to come from a can or the freezer. For the price we paid (around $25 for the pizza alone), I was expecting killer pizza and Alesi's fell short again. Aside from the food, the service was average at best. Our waitress was easily in her 60's and moved like she had been on her feet for most of the day and evening. Unfortunately, there were numerous teenage waitresses and they moved at the same speed for some reason. Needless to say, that was our one and only trip to Alesi's in almost a year. I would have to be STARVING for italian food before I would consider giving them another chance.

BEST PIZZA IN TOWN!!! Mr. Alesi was the first man to introduce pizza to the Hub City back in 1957. This place has been in business over 50 years & with one bite of a works pizza, you'll know why. All the pizzas are thin-crust, just the way I like it. They have some of the best spaghetti I've ever had. The meat sauce takes the cake, but the wine sauce (meatless) is pretty spectacular as well. If you're in the mood for a ribeye, Randy (head chef) aka: "Big T" will make you one of the best steaks you've ever had. Just don't order it well-done, okay? I heard it makes him sad and he cries a little bit inside. If you're in the mood for dessert, have some of the Spumone. They import it from Angelo Brocato's in New Orleans, so you know it's good Oh yeah, did I mention this place makes bacon pizzas? If you haven't tried one I implore you to make a visit to Lafayette landmark.

Walking into this place it was like walking into a 70"s restaurant. I got the veal Florentine manicotti, there was no meat in it and hardly any cheese. Was not impressed with with the sauce very bland. My sister ate the seafood manicotti, it was so fishy she ate the noodles and took out the stuffing. Our best dish was the appetizers of jalapeno poppers! The only reason I gave two stars was the service. He did a decent job.

Really, the best pizza in town. Try the shrimp and bacon pizza. It's my personal favorite, but my husband loves the pizza a la Mike. Also, they have a really great hamburger. Who would expect it from an Italian restaurant? I'm pretty picky about my hamburgers. I don't like a burger that's too peppered, specifically with red pepper. It's delicious.

Alesi's is just not that good. I tried two of the pizzas here. One was the namesake Pizza Alesi and one that had pepperoni, ham and onion. I love tomato sauce and their pizza has hardly any on it at all. The crust was really bland and flavorless and a little to crispy in my opinion. The Italian Antipasto salad was just okay. Alesi's may have been established over 50 years ago here in Lafayette, but that doesn't mean it's any good.

I have eaten a lot of pizza in my life. A lot of pizza. After i finish eating a slice, I do not judge it tastiness on a scale of one to ten, rather, I judge it on a scale of one to Alesi's. The chefs at Alesi's make the best pizza I have ever eaten. Why is it so good? Those masterminds behind the glass cracked the code that many others have tried and failed to accomplish. Over at Alesi's, they address the essentials of a good pizza. Their sauce is arguably the best tomato base I have ever eaten, and that is coming from a person who usually prefers an olive oil base. Their crust is one of my favorites too. Its thin and crispy, but I assure you that you won't break your teeth on it. It has a sweet undertone and a brick oven-like flavor. Their toppings are also great. They don't overload you with meats and cheeses, you aren't going to drown in extras, that would be insult the amazingness that this thing is. This historic joint is home to a no frills pizza that finds itself at number one on my long list. You just can't argue with this place. If pizza isn't your thing, still give Alesi's a try, they have great pastas and the some italian sausage that I could eat as a meal by itself. Side note, the pizza makes for a great breakfast the next day straight out of the fridge!

By virtue of being a restaurant that serves Pepsi as opposed to Coke, this place gets upvoted. It doesn't hurt that I was visiting people who drank nothing but Coke, but that's beside the point. The real hallmark here is the pizza, and it's pretty damned good- light on sauce, heavy on toppings with thin crust. I got pepperoni-bacon-pineapple, and the people I was with got one of the specialty pizzas. Both were good, as was the service- we had to run to a play in short order, and they managed to get us in and out quickly. Good place, and I look forward to going back the next time I'm in Abbeville.

We LOVE Alesi! Good, classic style pizza and Italian fare. We ordered the Pizza La Mike. This gets you two antipasto salads and a 12" Pizza Alesi. Superb! It's an older, well established restaurant on Johnston St. So, yes, traffic is a problem for getting in and out. The inside is quiet with dim lighting and candles. Soft music plays in the background. It's great for date night. The service and food are excellent.

While I'm not able to judge this restaurant on its pizza which is its most popular dish, because I simply have not had it. My husband and I chose this place on a lark for our date night. We ordered the first thing on their "specialty" section of the menu. We chose to share it as it was a 28$ entree. Which include,veal parm., manicotti, ravioli, and their name sake pasta. We were served two plates of food. One with the name sake pasta and one with everything else. The plate with the manicotti and veal parm., and ravioli was covered so heavily in marinara that we were incapable of distinguishing what was what. The marinara was so sweet it had ALOT of sugar in it. The ravioli was so over done that none of them were recognizable as ravioli. The manicotti was the only thing that was semi recognizable. (While I thought the sausage stuffed inside was to spicy my husband described it as "not the worst thing on the plate"). The name sake pasta was covered in so much oil I could have drained it off and tossed 10 bowls of salad with it. We decided since we were already in this meal for minimum 40$ that we would order the cannoli, the crust was crispy the inside was thick and grainy, like tapioca mixed with table sugar. All and all even at 3&1/2 star rating on yelp I expected way more! I expected an at least "decent" meal. What I got was barely on par with chef boyardee.

The Wife and I headed to Lafayette to do some shopping and chose to have lunch here based on it's Yelp rating. Sadly, for the first time, yelp has let me down. When you walk in, there is a sign that says seat your self, so we did. Problem was though, it took about 20 minutes for the waiters to realize we were there. When the waiter finally came to our table he took our drink order and disappeared for another 10 minutes. He finally brought our drinks and didn't bother to ask if we were ready to order...he just left. We didn't get to order until we had been in the place for about 35-40 minutes. The long wait would have been fine if the food had made up for it, sadly it did not. Maybe it was what we ordered, but I doubt it. Our appetizer was a sampler of everything they had on the appetizer menu. Not until they brought it out, did we realize EVERYTHING was deep fried. Now, I'm a true southern boy who loves his deep fried foods, but not this time. It all tasted the same....bland. Our main dishes weren't much better. Almost tasted like frozen food, microwaved. I'd steer clear of this place. Pros: Supposedly they have good pizza, I'll never find out though. Cons: Slow service, outdated decor.

We ordered breadsticks and Pizzia for the kids which were gobbled up while hearing "more more" which is an unusual sound from these two. The waitress on the other hand needs to learn how to pre bus through out the meal. The food though makes up for her inadequacies.

Update: I gave this place three more chances after my first review, and my rating stands. The pizza remains tasteless. The last time I went, I ordered a salad to go along with my pizza. The iceberg lettuce was clearly from a bag, and the dressing tasted and looked like goopy Kraft dressing that had been poured into a bottle to make it look fancy. The salad was not cheap, either. Huge ripoff.

Ate here for the first time in about 15 years - I used to eat here all the time during my college years. In fact, my wife and I ate here on our second date. So, coming back and ordering "The Works" pizza was just awesome. All of the food was good. Only thing holding me from 5 stars is that the prices are a bit high. The decor, furniture, carpet, etc. all look unchanged from 15 years ago, so I think the place can feel a little dingy to some. I think with some updates, the prices may seem more reasonable as a higher priced restaurant. Service was a bit forgetful, but not too bad. But, the food as always was great. Glad to see Alesi's still kickin' it.

Nice thin New York style crust. Good sauce & ample toppings! Service is really good too. We were warmly welcomed upon entering & served very quickly. They have plenty of parking & a lot of seats to accommodate even largest of parties.

Great AUTHENTIC Italian food here. If ur idea of pasta is a special from Pizza Hut then this might be a little advanced for your tastes. I've eaten here at least a dozen times and never had a bad meal.

This place is mediocre at best. I had the spaghetti and meatball. The sauce was bland and kind of tasted like meatless ragu. The meatball was mushy and tasteless. The noodles were chewy, and my salad was obviously out of a bag. The garlic toast had raw jarred picked garlic on it. No standards. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Great pizza. My advice is to keep it simple. Less is more. Cheese with extra sauce or pepperoni and mushroom are both standout pies in my eyes. Spaghetti with meat sauce and antipasto salad do not disappoint either. No frills, Classic Italian American cuisine.

My favorite pizza place ever. A little change since Mr Alesi passed but still a place I try to hit on the occasion I get back to town. This was the "weekly date" spot for my wife and I when dating and is still a special place for us that we've passed on to our kids and other family members. Definitely try it if in the area.

Alesi's is just another joint in Laf serving up something that they think is called pizza, but really isn't. And just because it's been there for 30 years doesn't make it good. Their pizza sucks, and If you think that it's good, then it's obvious that you've never had a real pie. I have, in at least 100 places in NY, NJ, PA, CA, TX, FL and probably 15 other states. I've even eaten pizza in Italy. This stuff bears no resemblance to even a good pizza place, and NYC has one on every corner of the city. If you want to try a decent pie in Lafayette, try Sbaarro's in Acadiana Mall... now THAT is a slice of pizza.

I dig the vintage sign outside, but for god's sake, modernize the place! Service is very bad and you will wait for an eternity. The food is so disgusting. All and all even at 3&1/2 star rating on yelp I expected way more! I expected an at least "decent" meal. What I got was barely on par with chef boyardee.

The Wife and I headed to Lafayette to do some shopping and chose to have lunch here based on it's Yelp rating. Sadly, for the first time, yelp has let me down. When you walk in, there is a sign that says seat your self, so we did. Problem was though, it took about 20 minutes for the waiters to realize we were there. When the waiter finally came to our table he took our drink order and disappeared for another 10 minutes. He finally brought our drinks and didn't bother to ask if we were ready to order...he just left. We didn't get to order until we had been in the place for about 35-40 minutes. The long wait would have been fine if the food had made up for it, sadly it did not. Maybe it was what we ordered, but I doubt it. Our appetizer was a sampler of everything they had on the appetizer menu. Not until they brought it out, did we realize EVERYTHING was deep fried. Now, I'm a true southern boy who loves his deep fried foods, but not this time. It all tasted the same....bland. Our main dishes weren't much better. Almost tasted like frozen food, microwaved. I'd steer clear of this place. Pros: Supposedly they have good pizza, I'll never find out though. Cons: Slow service, outdated decor.

The food was delicious as usually. I had the half order of ravioli and the wife had the eggplant Parmesan. We ordered breadsticks and Pizzia for the kids which were gobbled up while hearing "more more" which is an unusual sound from these two. The waitress on the other hand needs to learn how to pre bus through out the meal. The food though makes up for her inadequacies.

Update: I gave this place three more chances after my first review, and my rating stands. The pizza remains tasteless. The last time I went, I ordered a salad to go along with my pizza. The iceberg lettuce was clearly from a bag, and the dressing tasted and looked like goopy Kraft dressing that had been poured into a bottle to make it look fancy. The salad was not cheap, either. Huge ripoff.

Antipasto salad. The only thing I ever order because it is fantastic! Everything about this place has always been top notch for me. Unfortunately, I've never tried anything else because the salad was my first dish there and I can't help ordering it every single time. Definite recommendation.

Amazing food and service!! Chicken parm with Alfredo is to die for! Also the lasagna is cooked to perfection with sauce that isn't acidic at all but perfect!

It's not bad for what it is, a neighborhood family restaurant. The only thing I'd say is great is the pizza crust. Not enough to make me want to go back. My wife had the shrimp spaghetti which was underwhelming. Frozen shrimp in a restaurant in southern Louisiana? No.

Ate here for the first time in about 15 years - I used to eat here all the time during my college years. In fact, my wife and I ate here on our second date. So, coming back and ordering "The Works" pizza was just awesome. All of the food was good. Only thing holding me from 5 stars is that the prices are a bit high. The decor, furniture, carpet, etc. all look unchanged from 15 years ago, so I think the place can feel a little dingy to some. I think with some updates, the prices may seem more reasonable as a higher priced restaurant. Service was a bit forgetful, but not too bad. But, the food as always was great. Glad to see Alesi's still kickin' it.

If you're looking for a good pizza, come here. Being from New York, I was a little skeptical about how good this place could be, but it's probably the best pizza I've had outside of NY. Nice thin New York style crust. Good sauce & ample toppings! Service is really good too. We were warmly welcomed upon entering & served very quickly. They have plenty of parking & a lot of seats to accommodate even largest of parties.

It's not what it use to be! All the appetizers aren't fresh and taste like it came from the freezer. The pizza is mediocre and service really sucks! Bathrooms aren't clean and the entire dinning room and bathroom is dingy and dated. Disappointed that it's not kept up. This place use to be the best!

Great AUTHENTIC Italian food here. If ur idea of pasta is a special from Pizza Hut then this might be a little advanced for your tastes. I've eaten here at least a dozen times and never had a bad meal.

This place is mediocre at best. I had the spaghetti and meatball. The sauce was bland and kind of tasted like meatless ragu. The meatball was mushy and tasteless. The noodles were chewy, and my salad was obviously out of a bag. The garlic toast had raw jarred picked garlic on it. No standards. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Great pizza. My advice is to keep it simple. Less is more. Cheese with extra sauce or pepperoni and mushroom are both standout pies in my eyes. Spaghetti with meat sauce and antipasto salad do not disappoint either. No frills, Classic Italian American cuisine.

Best thing about Alesi's is the old neon sign. I realize they have been a Lafayette tradition for years, but the pizza is just not that great. I went once and that's enough.

My favorite pizza place ever. A little change since Mr Alesi passed but still a place I try to hit on the occasion I get back to town. This was the "weekly date" spot for my wife and I when dating and is still a special place for us that we've passed on to our kids and other family members. Definitely try it if in the area.

Alesi's is just another joint in Laf serving up something that they think is called pizza, but really isn't. And just because it's been there for 30 years doesn't make it good. Their pizza sucks, and If you think that it's good, then it's obvious that you've never had a real pie. I have, in at least 100 places in NY, NJ, PA, CA, TX, FL and probably 15 other states. I've even eaten pizza in Italy. This stuff bears no resemblance to even a good pizza place, and NYC has one on every corner of the city. If you want to try a decent pie in Lafayette, try Sbaarro's in Acadiana Mall... now THAT is a slice of pizza.

I have always wanted to try this place, its always pack all the time, good sign right? Wrong.. We had the following: - Sampler - how can you go wrong with fried goodies? this was a good choice, a basket full of fried deliciousness - Pizza Alesi - decent pizza, nothing that great - Chicken Parmesan - their marinara was not good, ruined the whole dish, and the chicken parm was not good at all.. - Spaghetti with Italian Sausage - again, their marinara was not good, ruined the dish for me I was really disappointed.. will not be back.

I ate here a couple of times. Absolutely horrible!! The decor in here is atrocious. They literally have not changed it since the 70's. I dig the vintage sign outside, but for god's sake, modernize the place! Service is very bad and you will wait for an eternity. The food is so disgusting. One time I had ordered the sampler, which is supposed to be a little bit from every appetizer. Not until it came out that I realized everything was deep fried! First of all, what an incredibly odd thing for an Italian restaurant. Second, deep fried ravioli?? Why on earth would you do that?? Everything is over salted. The marinara sauce tastes like glorified ketchup and is used to smother everything. One time I had gotten a veggie/meat pizza and the crust was so under cooked. Will never go back!
