A visit to Fausto's has become part of our trip to Coushatta, which is once every year or two. This year we made two stops on our 4 day stay. Partly because we didn't want to pay $30 at the casino buffet on crawfish nights (Wed & Fri) and partly because the chicken I had at the Terrace Cafe on Thursday was very tough and tasteless. My wife says the shrimp at Fausto's is the best she's ever had. I give high ratings to the grilled chicken dinner with a great baked potato and cole slaw, and to the half-pound Texas cheeseburger. As mentioned in most reviews, Fausto's works on a fast-food routine. You order at the window and the food is delivered to your table. You won't get any help beyond that. This is OK with my wife and me. If we want assistance, we know how to ask...which I did when my fries and burger came without a fork & knife. Prices are a little higher than Mc D's, but, in my opinion, you get what you pay for. Fausto's is far better than any other fast-food restaurants I've visited.

The food is great. Service is horrible. We have always had good service and food until tonight. We were told the managing the orders was the manager. He was very rude. The only reason he has a job is if p e'er pole like myself and my husband utilize his business. At least act like you want our business.

I have to remind myself - I am not in California. Louisiana is a completely different world from what I am used to. Fausto's is a reminder of that. It's decor is down-to-earth - think 1968 and also think LOTS of taxidermied animals all over the walls while you sit there eating your burger/fried chicken. Everyone I met in Louisiana was so nice - a very refreshing change from California where people aren't nearly as nice. Fausto's was no exception to that. The cashier was sweet - although she didn't really know what she was doing or how to make change correctly - it was all part of the fun. The burger was great. They also feature a lot of Cajun Seafood, PO Boys, Gumbo and Fried Chicken. Great stop before or after visiting the casino down the street!

I got seafood platter. Not bad, but for $18, it was kind of a letdown. All of it on a styrofoam platter. The coleslaw in its own styrofoam container. Not a huge amount of food for the money. The "grilled chicken" my daughter got was spicier than she would have preferred. I might return but I am not sure it was a good value for the money.

After a few hours at Coushatta we were starving. I had seen Fausto's on the way to the Casino and wanted to try it on the way home. In hind sight we should have eaten at the Casino. From the outside it looks like a little shack that you may see in the middle of a swamp. Very casual, my kind of place. The menu is on the wall when you first walk in. You place your order at the register and they bring it out to the table when it's ready. The girl working the register was friendly and suggested the onion rings, it's one of their most popular items. I had the shrimp poboy, fries and a side of the rings. The poboy was just Ok. The bread was the standard hoagie roll. The shrimp were the small frozen grocery store variety. Everything was hot, but didn't have much flavor. The onion rings were pretty good. They were hot, not too greasy and had a nice breading. They also have fresh brewed luzianne ice tea, very good. The major downfall was the cleanliness or should I say overall lack of cleanliness. All the decor was covered in dust and grime. The ceiling tiles were all stained and falling down. The restroom was truly disgusting. The urinal was overflowing and they had standing water on the floor. There was no soap, no paper towels and the hand dryer was broken. If you are headed to Coushatta I would keep driving and get lunch at the Casino.

3 stars is being generous... I was at the hotel down the street and the front desk lady recommended this place. I stopped in... found the menu board on the wall. They have seafood, bakes potatoes with all types of toppings, burgers, and chicken. I settled on the large (12) oyster dinner, the picture is attached. Latin me start by saying that I am a gastric sleeve and I had no trouble finishing this plate sans the pistolette. I found the oyster breading to be overly salty , the fries and Cole slaw was pretty good. I thought it a bit tacky to serve a $17 dinner on a Styrofoam tray. The place could use a good cleaning.... seems like grimy and dusty everywhere. I personally will not return. Overpriced and under delivered .

Do not waste your time. The food is awful. The tea tastes like water. It was so weak. If you're going to serve tea in the south, it better be good and you better serve it with real lemons. Also who serves fried seafood without real lemons? Do not get the fried oyster po-boy. Only 6 oysters and the bread was on the verge of becoming stale. The French fries were frozen and tasted like frozen French fries. The place is dirty. There's food in between the planks in the chairs. And the ketchup bottle was so sticky and gross. This place could use a good cleaning. My husband had the chicken and sausage gumbo. He said It had a very odd taste. We will not be coming back.

Split a large shrimp and catfish with the husband. While it was tasty it was a wimpy portion for a large. French fry portion was a drive thru kids meal size. However the fried chicken looked appetizing. Probably their specialty. Ice dispenser looked to have the start of mold on the front cover. Lemon cake dessert was not all that but was from an outside supplier. Wait staff was not very friendly when we asked about our fries that came after our meal. Place could use an over all cleaning.

I ordered the gator and shrimp. I must have been served the gator's butthole because it tasted like crap. That made the rest of the lunch not settle well. Maybe the gator was not fresh or something. Also the roll that was served was was almost as if it was deep fried. Sorry NASTY!!!!!

Was visiting family in Louisiana, went to Coushatta Casino that was bascially broken, got hungry so I stopped here. Walked in the front and the two young girls did not look excited about being at work. Their customer service skills suck badly until someone they know walked in and he got their positive attention fast. Local expected. Food wise, ordered a two piece mixed fried chicken, was given two Breasts. Happy with that, and Gumbo. Well the chicken tasted hot and fresh. Good flavor and I liked it. Hence the stars. The gumbo, BLEEHHHH. Disgusting. Roux was burned badly. And for the amount I paid, was not close the price I paid. Keep driving America, there is better food out there. Sorry Mr. Fausto'.

Ridiculously high prices for mediocre food. All the seafood is brought in frozen. On the Gulf Coast at these prices it is not acceptable. Would never go back.

We stopped at Fausto's on our way home from Louisiana back to Houston. What a great stop to make for a bite to eat! The kids LOVED looking at the huge snake hanging on the wall, that enough made for some great conversation. Will say the bathroom was not the greatest setup - only one, and it was not very clean. And it was a little bit of a wait, but the locals seem to know and expect that, so that was nothing major. The food... it was great, from the oysters to the gumbo (see pic) to the po'boys. We'll definitely make a stop here along the way again sometime soon!

Ate here before going to casino and after. Loved the kids specials. Had one myself with homemade onion rings. My husband loved the gourmet burgers.

We enjoyed our evening at Fausto's! It was our first time to try this unique family restaurant. We had a large group (10) but the service and food were both very good. Everyone tried something different but it was all very good. The onion rings were excellent as was the fried catfish I had. We came over to gamble a little at Coushatta but were all tired of the choices there as far as places to eat. This was a refreshing change of pace!

I know Fausto's is known for their chicken, but OMG the burgers are amazing. My first time there was on a friend's recommendation for the burger. I thought "how good can a hamburger be?" and then I found out. Big, juicy, flavorful and plain delicious. This is a "must" stop to and from the casino.

the look of this place is a cross between the bar in "True Blood" (Merlottes) and a hunting lodge on steroids. Our first taste of fried alligator, in the entire group of 12 we tried about all of the menu. The catfish, the alligator, the (enormous) shrimp, the onion rings, THE GUMBO, and the red beans and rice were all excellent. We are not from this area, but locals directed us to Faustos repeatedly. The service was also excellent. I can't think of anything negative to say about this place, except possibly, like much of Louisiana, it's not diet food

Don't know what to think of this place. The food is mediocre at best. . . . . typical roadside fare with nothing that is outstanding. Just OK. When you walk in this place it's a bit of a shock . . . . you'd swear you been to Taxidermy Heaven. Every kind of animal a person could shoot legally is on the walls of this establishment. The burgers are good here but if you are looking for a bit more than a drive-in burger you might want to wait until you get to the Casino.

Whenever we are within 10 miles of the place we go there. Lots of atmosphere and kids love it. Wouldn't be good for animal activists. They have a lot of mounted game on the walls. Food is outstanding with a huge selection. Place your order, give them your name and they deliver. Again, food is fantastic. They need to raise their prices to match the quality.

Must have hit them on an off day. Husband's fried chicken was good, but side order of red beans and rice was flavorless. Mom's BLT and onion rings were very good. But my chicken and sausage gumbo was AWFUL. Tasted like burned water with a few chunks of chicken, a couple of slices of sausage and a lot of rice. I think someone burned the roux and served it anyway. I probably wouldn't go back.

This place was good. Took the family there to eat on the way out of town. I would go back but would not take all the kids was a little high to feed 4 kids. But great food and was very full when we left.

Good food, interesting decor (looks like it was decorated by a real hunter), amble seating. Service is okay, you order at the window and they bring it to your table but that is it, but they are polite and the place is clean. Not a fancy dining but plenty of great food and good prices. I defiantly stop there if I am in the area.

We ordered a crawfish poboy and a gator nugget dinner. The nuggets were too salty and the crawfish were fried in a batter. The sandwich was flavorless. Definitely not a $30 lunch. They have a cool interior. Rice and coleslaw were good.

As you cross the threshold at Fausto's you step into another time and place. Outside, this is just an unassuming Louisiana roadside diner in a town that is little more than a wide spot in the highway. Inside is a bit of Louisiana history and a taxidermist gone wild. Dozens of deer, boar, alligator and other trophy heads hanging anywhere there is space interspersed with portraits and snapshots of various famous and not so famous hunters. Old natural woodwork throughout gives the place the feel of a hunting lodge. The entrance includes a gallery of signed portraits including John Wayne, Barbara Mandrel, Carl Perkins, lots of Dallas Cowboys and a few politicians. You get the feeling that Fausto's has not changed much in the last decade or two. Ah, but what about the food? Your choice of shrimp, catfish, oysters, crawdad or alligator anyway you want it as long as it is fresh, Cajun and fried. Also chicken and burgers for the less adventurous. The succulent deep fried oysters, tender catfish and big helping of crawdads were all tasty, and the sweet potato fries are awesome. All with a good dose of Cajun seasoning. Poboys and gumbo also looked delicious, but there is a limit to how much I can consume! Did I mention that the dress is tee shirt and jeans casual. You order and pay at the window and they will bring your food to your table. Prices quite reasonable. I would not rate this as the kind of place worth making a trip to Kinder LA just to visit Fausto's, but if you happen to be passing through, it is definitely worth stopping in.
