I had the fried fish and my husband had the porkchops we ordered the chicken taquitos as appetizer. All the food came out at once. Very huge portions ordered way too much food. Authentic Honduran food. Reminded me of times when I would travel with my family to Honduras! Nostalgic!!

Not the place to go when you want to get spiffed up and fancy. Go in and grab a table. The waitress will bring you a menu. The menu is in english & spanish so don't worry! I didn't know what to get so I got the #2 breakfast and it was good! My daughter got the Baleada with beef. YUM! Would go back again.

My girlfriend is from Honduras and I am white. We have gone with her family a few times and the service was fine and I really find the food just awesome here. However, whenever it is just me and her we are treated with insulting service. One time we walked in and the place was empty so we ordered some baleadas to go. 5 or 6 Spanish people walked in after us and they each got their food before we did. My girlfriend called the waitress out on it and all she said was I'll go have them start your food. So the food is fantastic but if you are not Spanish or plan on going with a Spanish family I really cannot recommend the place.

Visiting NOLA and found this place. Being Latin, this is what I cook at home for breakfast but in Raleigh there is nothing which compares. We're staying in Kenner so we wanted someplace close. The food was very authentic, service friendly, coffee not so good to me but my husband loved it and he drinks a lot of it. Lots of food with your order. Not a fancy place but the food is good! Will return for sure.

Great little restaurant. Nachos Cafe En La Cocinita. The owners have found a great way to combine both of their cultures. (Wife is from Honduras & husband is from Mexico) You get A LOT of food for a very good price. One of my favorite dishes is the beef and chicken fajitas, which comes with salad, rice, beans, a big slice of queso fresco and a side of tortillas, maduros or tostones. I opt for the maduros... always! All for just $12.00 The taquitos Hondureños are very good as well. You really can't wrong with anything you order.

We got a taste of delicious Honduras cuisine that was made to order. A quick tip however it does take on an estimate about 20-25 minutes to get your food. However it is worth the wait. I ordered their breakfast tortillas filled with cheese, beans and cream and oh my so so good! My husband ordered the breakfast tortillas filled with egg, avocado, cheese and cream and he was delighted as well. The wait staff was really friendly and spoke decent English. We will definitely go back if ever in NOLA.

This was my 2nd time here. Food was just as amazing as the first time. I love that we are the only white people here! And we fumble through ordering because the waitress appears to speak little English. That just makes it more authentic to me. I would never have thought to add sour cream and avocado to eggs and beans, but it works. The plantains are awesome, especially with a little sour cream on them. The pork chops are amazing! Everything together is awesome. One of these days maybe we can make it in for lunch and try something different. All the food looks and smells amazing!

This place is legitimate. Large portions, fair prices, wide selection. The menu is authentic, leaning towards Honduran fare. You'll find papusas, baleada, plantains, soups and other items you don't often see on menus at other Latin restaurants. There is a hot food bar at lunch, choose one meat and three vegetables for 7.50 if you're in a rush. I live in NOLA and may have to make the drive out here just to get some grub again.

Amazing food, very authentic. As is typical of places like this, only 1 person speaks English and orders are taken by pointing. Water will rarely be refilled and, since everything is made fresh, it takes awhile to get your food. All this doesn't matter considering how amazing the food tastes and for such affordable prices.

I've been going to La Cocinita for several month now and love this place. I normally go for the buffet and every dish that I've had is very good. The breakfast is also amazing.

Everything the others said, plus a) the delicious portions are huge...my husband order a $12 shrimp dish which came out on three large plates. B) if you order a shrimp dish you get a dish of shrimp with vegetables, not a dish of vegetables with some shrimp. c) especially if you are headed west on I10 and are facing many miles on a bridge with no food in sight, this is in a great location.

La cocinita's food was ok. Delicious baleadas. The flour tortillas are made fresh by order, and they are simply delicious. Did not like the ambiance at all. They could improve the decor and restaurant location.

I have never ever in my life experienced such service, or lack of it. We can in on a Wednesday morning, probably 3 more tables with clients. We sit down and after 5-7 minutes I ask if service is on the table or if we have to approach the counter. A minute later one of the six Latin women from behind the counter shows up, no uniform, and takes our order. 10 minutes later I get up to see how long more we had to wait and I see the 6 women plus 2/3 more in the kitchen chatting in different groups but no food being prepared. It turns out they had forgot to prepare our breakfast or the waitress didn't pass the ticket to the others. Unbelievable. No apologies. We walked out and they kept chatting.

This place is awesome. The location would be what you could describe as a dive... but fear not. When you walk in, you'll know you picked a good one because this place smells like heaven. The food is incredible, affordable, and fun. There is a great festive atmosphere with Latin music, lots of people talking and enjoying themselves, and plenty going on. The wait staff are helpful, quick, and courteous. This place is authentic, so a heads up, they speak very little English. The place is clean, busy, and deserves every bit of a four star rating. Do yourself a favor and go.

So, this is a restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in Kenner...somewhere I would probably never stop. But, luckily, I was with someone who had been before. Walked in at lunch time on a Saturday, place was packed. Only problem, we didn't speak Spanish and our server didn't speak English...there was a lot of pointing and smiling going on. Enjoyed the fried plantains with crema, holy smokes those were so good. Also had was some sort of carne something. Meat wrapped in a fresh warm pita with beans and creamy crumbled cheese. While I didn't really know what we ordered, it ended up being tasty. I am unsure if I would stop by myself...just a little intimidating for me. We were the only Americans dining in (not exaggerating) and while this is no big deal really, felt like all eyes were on us for a little while. note: Get a Mexican Coke in a Bottle, ice cold deliousness.

I need to find a better Honduran restaurant to go to. The service is just awful. I have given them many tries , and only because the food here is delicious.

A great find, truly authentic food. From the time I walked in the door I knew this was a great spot. Tables full of people on a Monday night which is a great sign to me. The wait was a little long for the food so be prepared to wait for amazing food.

Ayyy que rico! Everything here is amazing. Make sure to get the beef or chicken soup, if it's available. They run out fast! It may seem a little intimidating for you non-Latinos or non-Spanish speaking folk, but as long as you come in and say you're new to this place and tell them what you normally like, they'll help you out. Or, ask what they recommend according to your favorite meat.

Great breakfast spot! Who needs ihop or Denny's when you can have this? Good food and excellent prices. Our waitress spoke perfect English and was a sweetheart too. Picture below is the #1.

Absolutely delicious food!! Very fresh and tasty! My favorite gringo even loved it so we'll definitely be returning to this quaint and authentic restaurant to try more dishes. We both had the desayunos (breakfast) which consisted of eggs, refried beans, choice of meat, plantains with sour cream (yummy!) and cheese. This is all served with your choice of corn or flour tortillas & will definitely fill you up & start your day right!

This is an awesome restaurant. I Yelped this place while on business in NOL and glad I did. Every time I travel to NOL, I visit. I'm a huge fan of hot sauce and this is where I was introduced to D' Olancho and won't use anything else unless I have to. Their pickled cabbage rocks! Like another review, I was the only white guy there and could care less if they don't speak English as I don't hablo Espanol!

I come here to get my fix of Honduran/latin food. Like in most restaurants in Honduras, the food is great but the service is slow. Since most of its patrons are Hispanic, most people know what they want before they set foot inside. If you happen to wander inside, bring a Latino friend to help you pick out a meal. Picking out of the menu will be very challenging BC they're all over the place and so much to pick from. Being Honduran myself, it took me a while to know what to order. I usually come for lunch and order whatever is already made to ensure promptness. Picking from the menu an item that must be prepared will guarantee 20 minutes if wait minimum to possibly 45 minutes or more. Avoid coming weekend mornings, too hectic there. Since this place has virtually no competition, its prices aren't the cheapest. Overall, the food justifies the means. For an ex pat Honduran like myself, I've had much, much better.... in Honduras.
