Fisherman's Cove is the fresh seafood/fish market attached to the restaurant Harbor Seafood. The pictures you see posted of food on plates and in baskets all comes from the restaurant not the fresh market. Come to Fisherman's Cove for your fresh fish, shrimp, oysters, crab meat, boiled shrimp, boiled crawfish, boiled crab and more. If you live out of town they can pack a box of all your favorites to carry home on the plane, or if you go wild and crazy and get too many goodies to carry on, they can also ship your box home to you. If you can't make it into the store you can order online and have your items shipped: fishermanscoveseafood.com Go next door to Harbor Seafood to have a sit down meal, or make a to-go order for a meal.

Great place for oysters, crawfish and seafood. I feel like they are a bit racist towards Asains but you have to remind yourself that you are in New Orleans! Food is great and out of this world. Will come mos def come back. Frog legs are yummy. $6 a dz oysters. Can't beat that...

This is a great place to get fresh seafood! It is a popular spot when having to leave new orleans for home. They will even get you plenty of ice to keep it chilled till you make it home! Prices are amazingly low compared to what we usually see for fresh shrimp. Cant wait till the next trip down!

Such a great restaurant. Fresh crawfish and shrimp at a fantastic price. All of the regular menu items are fantastic as well. You really just can't go wrong here. They can get busy at times because the locals know where the great food is at. The staff are always friendly and courteous. They also have a full bar. Really just can't say enough good things about this place. I leave the French Quarter every time I'm here to have their food. Their seafood market is next door. Just order up some fresh crawfish and shrimp and take them with you.

A bounty of local fare in a modest atmosphere that let's you know the order of the day is eating and little distraction to it. Gator meat, turtle, crawfish, crab, and a variety of fish will reward your adventurish side. Otherwise it might make you feel right at home. Located across the way from the airport, which makes it an excellent first or last stop to New Orleans.

Little hole in the wall full of colorful characters and crawfish to die for! Get dirty and suck the head!

This is the seafood market side of Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar restaurant. They sell boiled crawfish, shrimp and crabs along with fresh and frozen of the same along with fish. I eat at Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar all the time and it stays open later than the market side but if you want something boiled to go or to take home and cook yourself the market can provide you with most of the seafood items you can eat on the restaurant side along with quite a few they don't.

I went in for crawfish, potatoes and corn. I asked the cashier were they hot because they were sitting behind her as she was putting them in the bag, she said there warm, we cooked them today. Everything was cold. The corn was dried out and potatoes were cold. Nothing was seasoned. I understand it's not crawfish season but that was awful if they weren't go an steam them per request they shouldn't sell cold and old.

One of the Best, flavorful, spicy crawfish I have... Hand Down the Best! There service was great. The minimum waiting line is 30mins but I guarantee it is worth it. We ordered buffalo frog legs, 2lbs crawfish, jambalaya, and crawfish etouffee. Everything was awesome! Definitely coming back.

What an amazing little place close to our hotel. We thought the restaurant closes at 7 since that's what Yelp says, but its actually a restaurant connected to a fishery. The store closes at 7. But the restaurant is open later! Had the crawfish etouffee, it was fantastic and loaded with crawfish, it had just the right amount of kick to it! The blackened catfish was amazingly well cooked and the creole shrimp sauce was wonderfully seasoned. Bread pudding was deliciously sweet and flavored. Loved this place and would definitely go back!

One of our favorite places to go for lunch, dinner, and really anything in between. The food is delicious, and it is cheap. When you order oysters on the half shell, they are basically giving them to you for free - there is no way they can be making a profit off of them, especially when they are doing specials. And, if you have no problem drinking domestic beers, their pitchers are cheap as hell (about 7 dollars) which will net you about 5-6 beers. So, yeah, hella cheap. Watch the special board, because their boiled seafood specials rotate, and are almost always absolutely delicious. Now, the place can be a little bit crowded at times, so allow yourself a little bit of time to wait for a seat and to get served - but the wait is always worth it. Will be back, highly recommend.

The gumbo is comparable to the Campbell's gumbo in the can with a few added shrimp and oysters - no bueno. The oysters on-the-half-shell were great, though.

Exceptional. Memorable. Outstanding. All of these words come to mind and rightfully so. My flightcrew and I were passing through the area on a cross country transit and stopped by New Orleans for the night. Got decent diggs at the Crowne Plaza and was recommended to go to the restaurant adjacent to this place for dinner. We oblige the concierge advice and beat feet to this place - we were some hungry pilots. We are told to hang tight for 15 minutes for a table so my wingman makes a call and I walk over to Fisherman's Cove to pass some time seeing what a fresh fish market in New Orleans looks like. I walk in the door and everyone kinda looks at me. I'm in my flight jacket and obviously from out of town - I do my best disarming smile and wave. I walk up to the displays of crawfish, scallops, crab and other animals and am amazed at how good everything smells. I'm still inhaling the seafood scent through my nostrils when the girl behind the counter - Ally - says 'Hey, you wanna try a crawfish?' I says 'Do I? You asked the right guy!' and she pulls a small amount of paper towel and plops down a piping hot crustacean right there in front of me. I look at her with excitement and utter 'Really?' and she just leans back and says 'Really'. I tear into this little guy and it was mighty fine! She says 'Want another?' I reply ' Do I?' and it went like this back and forth for 5 minutes. My wingman and co-pilot walk in the door and I announce 'Hey fella's, Ally's handing out some mighty good crawfish' and within 2 shakes of seafood seasoning they've got their own steaming fresh crawfish to sample. These things were so good I ordered a 3 lbs box to load up on the aircraft and bring it back to Florida! To be precise: exceptional service, absolute food quality and just the right amount of local vibe to keep a smile on your face.

Accidentally reviewed the restaurant here bc I got confused. I stopped in the store and I really don't have an opinion other than the staff seemed friendly enough.

Outstanding as always. But they are oh so busy. So if you have not ventured to Fishermans cove, go on off hours. That is, if there are any off hours for this restaurant.

Everytime, I mean everytime I'm in NOLA, either by car or by plane, I am picking up a care package of goodies from the Seafood Store. I bring home LA Gator Meat, Crawfish, Live Crawfish, Boiled Crawfish, and Sausages of all sorts. They put a 50 LB box of whatever I want, and will pack stuff I have bought from other markets too. They take care of you !!! Whenever crawfish is in season, which is starting now Late Jan through July, I get 5 Lbs to snack on at my hotel room while sipping on a bourbon and ginger. while watching a game or some show. I'll even eat their crawfish boil for breakfast. It's seasoned perfectly for me and the family. Suck a head and a tail for me !!!

  • Erik A.

I don't know or care to know about the restaurant side of this place. All I want is my bag of crawfish, (maybe some mushrooms, corn, and potatoes) and to scuttle back to my hotel room, where I will eat them all while watching "say yes to the dress". I keep going here, I keep loving it, I keep wanting more. I know you locals say there is a season to crawfish, that some months they are better and other months you want to stay away. But I am from the frozen north, from the land of the ice and steel grey skies. I will eat any and all mudbugs that you feel are lacking. That is all.

Ate there on 8-2-2011. The place was really busy on the night I went. Not much of a seating area. But I liked it , it was cozy. I had a half shrimp/ half catfish po'boy with honey mustard on the side. I almost forgot I also had some onion rings. The po'boy was good and bread wasn't tough at all. The shrimp and the catfish were well seasoned and crispy, not at all greasy. My only complaint is they put pickles on it although I didn't want any. Not a fan of pickle's.The onion rings were good. Alot better then this place I tried in Bucktown the previous week. The service was very good, considering how busy they were that night. Overall nice find, good food, great service. I'll be back.

Lunch here on Saturday was great. We usually stop here when in New Orleans. Only complaint was a 30 minute wait for a table. We've had multiple locals recommend this place and have always left satisfied.

For all of these reviewers who have mistaken it, this place is NOT the restaurant but the fresh seafood market next to the restaurant (Harbor Seafood). Some of the best fresh seafood around and better prices than just about anywhere!. Everything is reasonable and you can get their boiled seafood to go here as well which is some of the best around.

  • Gary H.

These people are not honest about the price and quality of there seafood. I called a week early to order crawfish. I was told they were $1.85 a pound and the size was medium to large. When I went to pick them up five days later the price jumped to $2.00 a pound. When I got home I discovered I had thirty eight pounds of (small tiny crawfish). Very disapointed! I had company over and it was late so I made do with what I had. I called on the next business day (Monday) and spoke to a young lady. These people couldn't care less about what happened! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN! AND I WILL MAKE SURE MY FRIENDS AND AQUAINTANCES ARE AWARE ALSO!

Crawfish are always good there, spicy, cajun and with a cold beer, ummm... Been to this place forever, always good to be back. Please if you are in NOLA drop by and have a delicious feast.

If you're looking for beautifully shucked plump and shiny grey cold oysters on the half-shell in the New Orleans area you must venture out to Kenner and try Harbour Seafood on Williams Blvd. The oysters are fifty-cents a piece and well worth the wait. And...expect a wait! But it's worth it! The beer on draft is dirt cheap (under 2 bucks a pint) and there are loads of delicious choices on the menu. Some appetizers include calamari (blackened or fried), alligator (blackened or fried), crab claws, Buffalo style frog legs, fried pickles, etc... We also shared the thick and creamy oyster and artichoke soup (which will be sampled again.) The blackened alligator was lovely with lots of dipping sauces available and I still dream of the oysters en broche. They have many soups to choose from- turtle, corn and shrimp bisque and gumbo. They have Po'boys, entree specials and tons of fresh boiled seafood. This place is off the beaten path, but well worth it! Try it! You won't be disappointed!

First off - after eatting here, I am ruined for all other places as far as service and freshness of seafood go. Nothing will ever stack up to this place, and I'm sad becaue I live so far away. First off - Paige is the nicest server/bartender you will ever meet. We popped in for lunch on a monday, and then came back later that week, and she not only remembered us, but our entire friggin order, and my quirky drink. Secondly - the food is amazing. Oysters $6 for a dozen? get out of town! and the whole parking lot is filled with the shells from the oysters. The crawfish boil is amazing and a pound of the little suckers is like less than $4. We were crawfish virgins, and Paige showed us exactly how to rip that sucker apart, and suck the head, and pinch the tail. I am now proficient at the art of crawfish eatting. The turtle soup is incredible as well... super yum. Oh, and the blackened alligator - wowie oh wowie oh wow. I don't think I can say enough about this !!!! if you aren't used to eatting shrimp cocktails down in the south, you need to go here, because they do it RIGHT - spicy sauce (the best home made horseradish in all of NOLA as well) and plump shrimp! super duper delightful. and let me not forget the hushpuppies. YUM... Everything here was A-friggin-mazing. top notch, and is seriously better than any food you will ever have in the quarter - the only food in the whole state that may rival it (and it's not seafood) is the roast beef po-boy at parasols. ALSO -- (i never shut up -sorry) They have a fish market where you can buy their proprietary blend of boil. I got a buge pack cheap to take home and make up seafood of my own. With it, I got great knowledgable service with a smile. (and a coconut pie and a pecan candy bar) YUM.. this is a must stop!

It's a shame I never ate here in all of the years I lived in NOLA. (That will change in October) However, this place has single handedly allowed my life in Kansas City to be survivable. Just about anything you can think of can be dry iced and shipped anywhere in the country. I personally get my Redfish, Red Snapper, and various sausages shipped to me here from there. Funny that at times, it's cheaper for me to order Louisiana seafood and have it shipped to me from Fishermans Cove than it is to buy fish from the local markets here. I hope by March 2010 I can put an order for live crawfish to be shipped here. Looking forward to throwing a REAL crawfish boil and showing these folks how we do in the NOLA.

We ate here the first time in 1997. Snce then I order all my crawfish from here for my boils! They ship over night to your front door! Have them toss in a jar or two of their Cajunland "BOIL" seasoning!! It's killer!!

Good fresh seafood, but the place isn't all that big & gets pretty busy. Some of the best grub in Kenna, bra! :P

  • John T.

Was not impressed with this place at all. The restaurant was not busy at all, and my oyster po boy took 16 minutes to get to me. I must also say that the wait wasn't worth the quality of food.

  • Lenny K.

Excellent! I hardly have much bad to say about this place, the oysters (at a bargain $6 a doz.) are mouth-watering and always served with the requisite horseradish and remoulade sauce. The gumbo was great, the fried pickles wonderful and copious, and the service very friendly and efficient (as the crowds allow). It's always crowded (Sun. afternoon, Thur. evening visits) and it's a little too bright (I guess it's hard to 'dim' fluorescent lights). The shrimp po-boy was very good, but would've been better if the bread hadn't been burnt (on this visit), and the roast beef po-boy seemed like it wasn't all cooked there and could've been a little jucier sloppier.

  • Jon D.

Best crawfish around. Great selection of fresh fish. If it's not in the case they can special order it for you. Best to go to Harbor next door and eat them stop in the cove on the way out. They are crackalackin.

  • Jillian K.

I'm really fond of this place. We arrived at around 11:40 to get our Crawfish and a little while later we had our big bag, full of delicious spicy crawfish, all the fixins we needed. The wait was a little long, but the pay off was more than worth it. The prices here are pretty good (Don't quote me on that though, I just moved here from SoCal and Crawfish is stupidly expensive out there. And they usually tend to be the Chinese ones. Yuck!). We got enough Crawfish for three, Corn (Which was absolutely fabulous) Garlic, Sausage, Potato and Mushrooms for under about twenty dollars. Everything was perfectly cooked and ready for a lazy afternoon of eating crawfish and watching TV. And the workers there were very polite and informative.

this place? is like no other... simple, and to the point. Oysters, crawfish, shrimp, alligator, blackened alligator, fish, redfish, blackened calamari, and more... I love to bring friends to this spot as they're leaving the city , for the final meal before heading home. Last time I was there, some newbie foodies, I ordered all of the above. Let me tell you, it was a feast. The alligator NOT FRIED... excellent... fried pickles too... buy your fresh seafood here, get it shipped, get it to go, get anything here and you'll be happy.... friends come here the minute they're off the plane, get food, before jazz festin.... and the staff? has plenty of pearls they've saved for them.... nice touch... they even know them by name... last time I was there, they pointed out the pearl in my oyster.... great touch.... you just can't beat this FRESH FRESH FRESH place... and the wait staff? wonderful.... I highly recommend this to anyone, and if you live here and haven't found it? well it should be your next spot to try. once there, your sold. even if it is a bit of a drive...

My favorite seafood place. Try the turtle soup, oysters on the half shell and crab!

  • Jay A.

This place was good. The service had a southern hospitality feel; employees were very attentive. I'm not a big fan of seafood but this place made me change my mind on that. Though their gumbo bowl (big bowl) was really small, it really turned out to be tasteful. I would've called it more of an appetizer. The [grilled] chicken po-boy was not anything I cared for either, having a very plain taste to it. One thing that stood out from the rest is the blackened alligator from here. This was the best dish and it was considered to be an appetizer. Forget everything else I ate here. THE BLACKENED ALLIGATOR WAS THE MOTHER OF IT ALL!

Ok for the record, this review is for the RESTAURANT SIDE (HARBOR SEAFOOD & OYSTER BAR of Fisherman's Cove: People rave about this place, but for me I've had better, literally. Fried foods tend to come out a little too hard. it gets really crowded in there very fast. Tables are too close together, wait staff has to go down sideways. As soon as you walk in you walk into the dining area, if you have to wait, which normally is the case, you have to do it outside. For me, I'm not crazy about it.

Thank you Fisherman's Cove for taking care of us during our recent visit to NOLA. We really wanted to bring home with us some boudin sausages, Louisiana hot links, red beans and several other perishable items. Our limo driver suggested that we go to Fisherman's Cove to have everything packed to take on the plane with us and they packed it all. Went through TSA without any hassles. Plus they has a large selection of fresh fish of all type, shell fish, crawfish and more ready to be packed for either shipping or taking it with you.

  • Desiree B.

We went here with a group of 8. It is a small little place and they don't take reservations. After waiting 30-45 minutes, we were seated. The waitress gave us good service. The crawfish was fair but not great. The shrimp was just ok. The fried oysters wrapped in bacon were not fabulous. The grilled amberjack was over cooked and very dry. The shrimp poboy was average and small. The bread was as hard as a brick. The tossed side salad was iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and a small wedge of a tomato with a big black rotten spot on it. The eggplant in the eggplant dish was not detectable through the breaking and batter. On the upside, they do sell beer and my water was fine. I would not go here again. It is not worth the hype.

I am seriously disappointed. If you're looking for good boiled shrimp and crawfish, I would recommend trying anywhere else! I love spicy seafood, but this was ridiculous and actually kind of miserable. My fiance purchased $50 worth of boiled shrimp and crawfish for dinner and both tasted of nothing but pepper! It obvious the crawfish were not soaked properly - the heads were dry, no juice at all! -and coated in pepper, as were the shrimp. The only thing we could taste was salt and spice, there was no real flavor present! Missing the basics - onion, garlic, lemon and a 20 minute soak minimum. We couldn't even finish our dinner. What a waste!

    (1)
  • Charlé W.

The price is between $1-2 less than what I've seen Uptown. The shrimp were large. Crawfish are small this early in the season so I can't be mad at 'em. What I can judge is the level of "juice" in the crawfish heads. I hate dry berled (sic) crawfish so I was pleased with all the spicy juice. Clears your sinuses and pairs well with several napkins or a washcloth if you want to be eco-friendly about it.

As my reviews can attest, I love the Harbor. The restaurant connected to this store. And I wanted to like this store. The staff was friendly enough but what counts in a fish/seafood market is the fish/seafood, right? I ordered two dozen oysters from the obviously new girl working the counter. I waited about 5 minutes and out came my bag of oysters. As I went to pay, out came another bag of oysters. 4 dozen oysters total. So I had to explain that I only ordered 2 dozen oysters and they must have called it back twice or something. When I got home, not only were they the dirtiest and smallest oysters I've seen in years, but out of the 24, I ordered, I only received 20 and out of that 20, 3 were half shells. :( So 17 oysters for the price of 24. I should have just let them give me the second bag, I guess. I will always love the Harbor, but I will NEVER buy oysters from Fisherman's Cove.

Best boiled shrimp ever! Great tasting gumbo (with a little help from provided hot sauce).

It's rare to find establishments that cook tuna properly. This place does, along with everything else I tried. You can't go wrong here, if they where to remodel you would happily pay double for what is provided. Hope you find it as satisfying as I did. I will be back soon
