Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Lunch date without the kids, done right! We weren't in the mood for fancy so this was perfect. We shared the pretzel and beer cheese dip, it's a must have from now on it was so good. I had the Tennessee pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, it was very good and I think the sauce has pineapples in it, very delicious. My husband had the sizzling chicken and shrimp, it was VERY HOT, not a bad thing! Better than having a cold dish. We were both happy with our dishes. For dessert we had the whiskey cake, AMAZING!! It was a great dish and no whiskey flavor at all! I will be getting that one again. Our service was surprisingly great, which is something we've not come to expect there as we eat here often. I tried the pink punk Cosmo! It's very different and delicious! It's served in a martini class with cotton candy in it and the server pours the Cosmo from the shaker into the glass at the table! It was sweet but very good! Our drinks were never even close to empty, our food was perfectly timed and our server kept our table clear of dirty dishes. For an appetizer, two entrees, dessert, and a drink our bill +25% tip was under $50! More trips like this and I will be returning even more often. I wish I had caught the servers name so I could give her credit on here but I was a little preoccupied by the fact that I was enjoying a child-free lunch!!

Great for chain food. Service was great in the bar area. 3 for 12.99 deal was great. App entree and desert. Enjoyed the pot stickers the most.

Agreed with the people underneath about the horrible service. The drinks came after the appetizer. Sad. The appetizer was cold to the point we asked our server to pop it in the microwave. We ordered the Jack Daniels and spinach dip for our apps. It was just okay. I know I'm not ordering it again. The chips for the spinach dip were too hard and not crispy or crunchy. The server messed up on one of our orders. She took so long we didn't even want it anymore. I ordered the flat iron steak with mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. The steak was cooked to where I wanted, I thought the sweet potato fries were good. I was pleased with my dish. As for my sister, she didn't like her dish. She ordered some kind of chicken pasta, I can't remember. My mom wasn't pleased with her salad, I wish I could remember which one so I know not to order it. Eh, I probably won't be back for a while anyways. For dessert we had Oreo Madness and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. Both desserts were decently good. We asked our server for a couple of more spoons. She was taking so long so we just decided to share our spoons. By the time we finished she didn't even come back to give spoons. She forgot about us. Also ordered a mixed drink. The mango lemonade with vodka. It was yummy because I love fruity drinks, but they are being too tight with the vodka. Come on now! Everything was just "okay." Nothing too special about this place to have me coming back. Service makes me want to stay far far away.

I wish it was possible to give zero stars to this establishment. A few weeks ago a friend and I went in about an hour before closing time. After we were seated, a swarm of employees began running around us and speaking to the hostess. Moment later a waitress comes to our table and says "you all aren't supposed to be in the restaurant because y'all are underaged" excuse me? My friend and I are both 20yrs old, well above 18. Nobody in the restaurant ever asked us our age, we hadn't tried to sit at the bar and order drinks. The waitress asked to see our ID's because apparently the restaurant has had problems with teenagers in the past. That's all fine and dandy, however instead of causing a huge scene and making the guests at your restaurant wonder why they were being treated as if they didn't belong they should make their bootleg policies known at the door. I'm actually contemplating calling headquarters, because I've never experienced service so horrible even before we got to order!

Eh I don't see what the big fuss is about here. It's like every other restaunt I've been to on the westbank. The service was not good at all.The waitress I had made me wanna walk out and never come back again,But enough about her now on to the food. For apperitzers I tried Spinach Florentine Flatbread,Fried Mozzarella and clam chowder, they were decent pretty avenge nothing exciting. For the entree I ordered the 10 Oz. Sirloin with mashed potatoes and fries it tasted normal to me nothing special. My favorite part of the whole dinner was desert!Oreo madness was so good! The way they decorated the plate came in handy.

Friday's is a mess on a Friday night. The place was packed, the server's were frazzled and the food was blah. It's a chain, it taste's like chain food. Not something I'd rave about. If I try again it will def be at a different time of day.

Oh, Fridays, why did you mess with a good thing, when you changed your Caesar salad dressing? I LOVED the old dressing. What the heck is this new Caesar vinaigrette dressing you have now?? It's no where near as good as the old creamy Caesar dressing was. I FINALLY found a Caesar dressing that I LOVED and you change it! I'm so let down. I understand that you might want to offer a healthier option, when it comes to dressing, but could you offer both the vinaigrette and the creamy one? When all I'm having for lunch is a salad and soup, I'm really not counting calories. 4 stars, still, because I do like the food and it is really super cheap.

Like many other chain restaurants, Fridays is just okay. The food's okay. The service is okay. Everything is just...well you've heard it, okay. I've had a number of items off their menu including the Nachos, Spinach Dip, Potstickers as appetizers; the Cajun Pasta, steak, and Caribbean Salad as entrees; and the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake and Oreo Dessert. The best thing from Friday's would have to be their Cajun Pasta. It's not creamy and heavy like many other pastas served at other chain restaurants and offers the perfect amount of flavoring and spice. Other than that, the food is pretty mediocre. Of course not the worst food I've eaten, but pretty decent. I would much rather the food here than at a Chili's or Apple Bee's for sure. So if I had a choice to pick a decent priced chain restaurant in NOLA, it would be Friday's. (Well unless you consider Zea a big chain, then I would pick Zea over any of those for sure). As for the service, also mediocre. I don't expect anything more or less really though. The restaurant is still only a couple of months old so they could still be working out some kinks, but trust me, it's not compared to how bad it was when it first opened. I actually haven't been here in months, and I actually wouldn't mind going. As long as I don't go here too often, I won't despise it. Moderation is key afterall! But really, this place isn't too bad at all!

Come here all the time. Pretty good service for the most part except when we sit by the bar area tables. Had out waitress stare at our empty glasses while she talked to her friends at the next table. Stared us in the face while we waived at her for refills. I usually tip good but could not in that case. Surprised the potato skins weren't too great. The other appetizers are really good, especially the different nachos. The burgers and sizzling chicken are awesome. Vanilla bean cheesecake is the best! Long wait for tables on weekends.

I've been to this location 3 times and its been a strikeout all three times. Very disorganized. Food is mediocre at best. We tried to order nachos with no beans and was told the nachos are pre-made... with beans. Seriously? How hard is it to make nachos without damn beans?? The burgers we ordered were meh and I HATE when I can't order my burger the way I want it. This well done crap is ridiculous. They are all about their craft beer selection which is utterly appalling. Their draft beer consisted of: Coors Light, Bud Light, Blue Moon, Guinness and Abita. Really? Do NOT insult me like that Fridays. You ask me to "Ask about our craft beer selection" and THIS is what you have? Are you friggin' kidding me? Insulting. Every time we go there seems to be an issue with staffing. It's not that they don't have enough but rather the waiters have no idea which tables are theirs. I counted 11 waiters/waitresses, 3 hostess/hosts, 3 busboys and 3 managers on a Wednesday night and a hostess still had to take our drink order. The table next to us told me it took 15 minutes just to get a waiter and the waiter told them their table wasn't supposed to be his. The place wasn't busy. I don't get it. Anyway, not impressed. We've given this place three chances and well, that's it. No more. Cheers!

I think some people just are miserable people and love to complain about everything. Ive been to Fridays and yes it was PACKED! luckely I found a seat in the bar area as soon as I got there or I wouldnt have waited. Who waits 2 hours to eat? of course you will get to your table and you will already be mad so nothing these poor kids can do can make your day? I orders a beer and my wife got a glass of wine. Our server brought it to us very quickly and soon after we got our cheese stick. 2 steaks and oreo madness later we were out of the door with smiles on our faces while the same people were in frowning waiting for a table! Look people, its new... its busy.. all new places have speed bumps in the begining.. but those of you who rate it 1 star or 2 stars will be back there next week doing it all over again. Thanks TGIFridays.. you were great1

My mom accidentally spilled the drink and we couldn't find our waitress so we cleaned it up ourselves. The reason I give them extra stars because umm I don't remember. :$

We love this place! I'm kind of surprised to see so many negative reviews, but I suppose when a place stays as busy as this one does things are bound to fall through the cracks. And yes, it does stay busy so expect a wait if you go during peak lunch or dinner hours. However, we sit in the bar every time we go so we have never experienced the service in the main dinning area. Last night was our 4th time here (hey, don't judge :) and it was the first time our service was below exceptional. It wasn't "bad", but the last 3 times we went the service was outstanding. As for the food- we have not had one thing that we didn't like. I tried the garlic parmesan boneless wings last night and LOVED them! This has become one of our favorite places!

This Friday's was only ok. Wasn't as great as other Fridays' I have been to, but i do love their cocktail selection. The waitstaff here is a hit or miss, some, you can tell have NEVER worked in the restaurant industry before. At least they didn't mess up on the jack daniels sauce!!

i really like the pink punk cosmo! its super sweet and the presentation is awesome. the food could be a little bit better. my salmon is never how i want it cooked. the service is okay.......i would not recommend this place to a friend.

Oh. My. God. I have got to stop eating at new places just because everyone else is going. I've had Friday's in Houston, and it was pretty good. But this location is a train wreck. My friends and I went on a Tuesday night unaware that it was so busy that there was a wait. Which is fine, we were warned 10 minutes prior that we should have mad a reservation. However, their system is on paper and not on pagers. Since the lobby was pretty full we waited outside until the couple before us was seated. Then the girl that was doing the seating asked the party that came behind us. When the hostesses told her we were actually next, instead of taking us, takes the people after us and would "come back for us." Oh, by the way, there was tons of clean tables so I don't understand why there was such a wait. When we were finally sat, it was maybe 10 minutes went by before anyone greeted us. The manager came by and apologized (by the way, pretty much the only one that apologized for any inconveniences) and took our drink orders telling us our server Sierra would be with us. He came back and actually took our entire order for us, very professionally. He also gave us half our food while Sierra was no where to be found until after our appetizer was at the table, and she gave us a refill on drinks. Maybe if the servers weren't running around every 5 minutes singing happy birthday to half the restaurant, maybe someone would get some service! It's not like they were understaffed. There were tons of servers around. We had spinach dip which is pretty hard to mess up. But it was pretty good. Which our server Sierra tried to take away before we were done just because our entrees FINALLY came. My friend's salmon was cooked well. I didn't really have a bit but I'll take his word for it. My rib plate on the other hand. Fall off the bone? More like shrank off the bone. The ribs were dry from grilling too long. My broccoli was also overcooked. If you're going to serve fresh broccoli, don't make it all soggy! One of my friend's broccoli was so overcooked it was losing a lot of its color. But my loaded mashed potatoes were good. But that isn't what cost my plate to be 17 bucks is it? We were so angry at our server we didn't leave her a very good tip, which I feel terrible about. But we gave it to the manager, who rightfully deserved it because he was the one who serviced us, who checked on us, and who actually seemed to sincerely care that we were having a bad experience. I won't be coming back until they clean up their act and catch up to their corporate standards.

I had a good drink here (a pink grapefruit daiquiri on ice that was surprisingly unsweet), but that and the strawberry on my dessert were the highlights of dinner. Service was friendly but the food was all pretty bad. Cheesecake should never, ever remind you of a warm glue stick!

Disappointing, even for this genre (AppleChiliFridayTuesdaybees). Should have gone to Chotchkie's instead for some Pizza Shooters, Shrimp Poppers, or Extreme Fajitas. I ordered the craft beer burger, which comes drenched with some sort of sauce made with craft beer. Sauce was pretty good. The patty, however left alot to be desired. Well below the standard burger you get from other chains. I've had better burgers from fast food chains (Hardee's, Backyard). To top it off (literally), the top bun, which was supposed to be toasted, was burnt on the underside (black, charred). I substituted sweet potato fries for .99c and they were very good. Server was nice, but the burger was an epic fail.

I went here recently with jelly belly and we sat in the bar area. It was a Friday night and pretty packed. It took a while for someone to clean off the table and get our drinks but I figured it was because of it being packed. We ordered the appetiZer special where you can get three different appetizers (the choices were limited). Garlic Parmesan wings were really good and flavorful. I really liked how they had shredded parm on top of the wings. Moz sticks were average but satisfied my craving. It became a little too cheesy after. Pot stickers weren't that great. Don't get them. Of course you don't wanna go to tgif for something like pot stickers . . . We also ordered and shared the sizzling chicken and shrimp, which was not too bad. Chicken was a little bland, the shrimp had a tomato-ish seasoning, and the sauce/cheese on the sizzling plate complimented the mash potatoes very well. Pretty good for a simple dish. It satisfied our hunger. For two, the amount of food was enough. I would've given this place 3 stars because I felt like service and food were pretty average, but I've been here for happy hour drinks a few times before and always had a good experience, so 4 stars it is!

5 stars for unlimmted apps, yeah that's right folks I said UNLIMMTED! Nah but seriously every time I come here the service and food is amazing! I've eaten here like a trillion times so I guess I'll review the unlimited menu since it's the latest thing that I've had here. Love how it's endless choice now, I remember when it first started you could only choose one. Got tired of eating ahi tuna crisps nonstop (has been taken off this menu). Boneless Sriracha Wings: DELICIOUS, creamy with a sriracha kick! HUGE normal (maybe even bigger) size portion. I honestly thought they were going to give me small portions. Mozzarella Sticks: also yummy, typical mozzy nothing spectacular. it's mozz what can I say? lol Spicy Chicken Tostadas: Didn't realize that these were kinda like nachos (doy!) A "Tostada" with maybe a scoop of shredded chicken with a type of slaw with a fresh tasting creme sauce. I would order these again separately as an app any day. Pan Seared Pot Stickers: tastes like pork, don't quote me on that. surprisingly good , came with a sweet soy sauce. The Sriracha Wings were the bomb.com and the SCT is something I could see myself munching on almost all the time....right now....someone bring me some I'll be ur BFF :D

  • Amber W.

I was very disappointed with the "unlimited" apps. I suspected that they would take forever bringing them out which is exactly what happened. We received our wings first after our drink order. We ordered potato skins next. They came out well after our entrees. I've always loved the potato skins but this time they were horrible. Had a hard time tracking the waiter down to order something else. So our 3rd & final app came out with the dessert smh. It was the spinach flatbread florentine which was good. They also didn't have the dumplings which was the main thing we wanted. Our entrees were good but I don't see myself coming back for awhile.

I don't usually go to chains, but sometimes a hangover requires greasy appetizers. Waitress was very sweet and friendly, cheese sticks were honestly some of best I've had, but rest of the meal was downhill. Unimpressive French onion soup and French dip

Happy Hour from 3-7pm daily! Normally I would give a chain three stars but the service here was impeccable! Now I feel terrible that I forgot my waitresses name but she was amazing (blonde, hair in a ponytail, worked the bar )! My girlfriend and I met up here to exchange Christmas presents (after Christmas, yes, we were a little late. We ordered from that awesome menu where you order an appetizer (delicious queso) and we split an entree (burger) for like some ridiculously low price. I can't find the price but it was so cheap it was kind of scandelous! hehe... Well, we parked ourselves there for like 3 hours so that we were still there for Happy Hour when certain appetizers are half off and the drinks are on special! hehe... What I really enjoyed was that our waitress was very attentive. We sat by the bar because there was a wait for a table for two and we were starving. Our food came out quickly and we just enjoyed the ambience. I heard one table of four tell our waitress that they really appreciated her service too because usually they have terrible service at TGIF. In fact, I was so impressed that I told our waitress that I wanted to tell her manager how awesome she was! Happy Eating! TGIF!

We eat TGI Friday's at least two times a month, and it's usually always pretty good, but the last two times we've phoned in an order have been awful! The first problem we had was the sauce that we received for our fried green beans was bad. We called the manager in regards to it, and it didn't seem like he really cared. Next we ordered 3 burgers from Fridays last night (2 Jack Daniel burgers and 1 regular cheese burger), and ALL 3 burgers were hard as hockeypucks around the burger, but the center part of the burger was edible, and that's the part all 3 of us ate due to my husband having to go to school and we didn't have time to take the burgers back. I did call and speak to the manager who seemed very caring, he said he'd forward the complaint to his boss and said I'd hear back from them. As of today I haven't heard back from Friday's. I'm sure who ever cooked our burgers last night knew they were not up to par. We've never had burgers that bad from Friday's before.

Service was horrible. We had a group of 6 and 2 kids(a 2 year old and a 7 month old) we waited 40 minutes for a table and when we got to sit down part of the restaurant there was NO ONE there. They had plenty of empty tables and booths. The waitress forgot my husbands drink, our food was taking forever to come out so the waitress offered us free chips and dip that didn't show up until after our food was brought to us. The food was really good though, which is why i gave this 2 stars. Will most likely never go back to this location.

  • Sparky E.

We have been here in the past and had decent service. The waitress was slow, inattentive and dis-organized (had to remind her about straws and napkins). The food service staff wandered around looking for who ordered what (like don't they write the table numbers down?) The food was cold and not very good. When asked a question the response seemed to be so what. This was not up to any standards of TGIF. My wife and I have been TGIF customers nationally for over 30 years, and this was easily our worst experience. Just flat Lousy

Okay, I've been dragged here two more times since my last review, and I'm gradually finding things that are edible. Last time I had the "3 appetizers for $12" deal, and I had spinach and artichoke dip, pot stickers, and buffalo nuggets. Average bar food but nothing was nasty. On my most recent visit, I found something really good! They have a "2 for $10" deal where you get an appetizer and an entree for $10. I got a wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon as my appetizer. The lettuce wedge was fresh and crunchy, and they did not skimp on the blue cheese or bacon. Very good! My entree was the 8 oz petite sirloin, which was a pretty good piece of meat considering it was on the "2 for $10" menu. The mashed potatoes had flavor and the tomato and mozzarella salad was adequate. Nothing to complain about with this meal. I guess I won't resist coming here in the future now that I've found something that I like!

I dont want to spend another minute in this establishment. If I could give no stars I would. And after writing this it still took another 35 minutes. And for grilled chicken a five minute meal .

It's alright.... A-OK, even. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Refusing to pay full-price for a chain restaurant, I signed up for their "Stripes" club and received a coupon for a free appetizer and a "jump the line" pass. As it wasn't busy when we arrived, the jump the line pass wasn't necessary. I have this available for a return trip. We decided on the spinach dip for the free app. Not bad. The kid enjoyed the red tortilla chips, although it wasn't anything special. The chips were warm but the dip was a little on the cold side. I'm glad it was free. I will say, my lunch was delightful. I had the Cap'n Morgan chicken sandwich, served with sweet potato fries and some awesome dipping sauce. Yum! The kid had a chicken kabob kids meal, which seemed like a relatively low-fat option. I don't usually get her a kids meal, because I don't like the usual options - grilled cheese, burger, hot dog, etc. There is no reason a kid can't eat the same food as an adult, but smaller portion. Anywho, I was impressed with the kabob idea, until I realized they filled the basket with a more-than-adult-sized portion of french fries. Ugh. I don't understand why this is necessary. She only ate 1/4 of it anyway and the rest was left behind. The boyfriend had a burger of some sort. Like most burgers, it tasted like a burger and wasn't anything mind-blowing. Profound, I know. We didn't bother with dessert. For a TGI Friday's, we had good service and the food was mostly mediocre, but that was expected. It's about average with other chains.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
