Very happy to have found this little pizza place, run by a family that has been making pizza for at least 3 generations. Because of where it is situated--at the far end of an L-shaped shopping center, not too far North of the bridge--I had a little trouble finding it. It could just be that I am still learning my way around, but twice before I passed it without realizing it. This time I was determined not to fail. I made sure I had the address and my GPS. Colonna's works magic with their crust. It's on the thinner side and oh, so good! The crust was my favorite part, actually, and I am guilty of discarding the outer crust edges of most pizzas. Not this time! It is authentic and skillfully prepared, as flavorful and delicious as a freshly made loaf of homemade ciabatta. We ordered the Frank's Special, which is the meat and veggie combo with a red sauce and cheese. The sauce has a nice, fresh flavor--not too rich or heavy. It tastes like it was made from fresh tomatoes. They also make a white sauce of olive oil and herbs which would go perfectly with spinach and artichoke hearts. Will have to try that soon. After only the first bite, I noticed the cheese seemed to have a lot more flavor than the standard mozzarella on most pizzas. Thought I might just be extra hungry, but our server explained the real reason. They use whole milk cheese rather than skim. What a difference it makes! All of the ingredients are of good quality and flavorful, but I think on my next trip to Colonna's, I will order a cheese pizza. I think the simplicity will highlight the perfection of the crust, sauce, and cheese best.

Thank you for having Yankee's moving to the South and opening a Pizza place! Now that I have that out of the way, let me explain. So me and BF are hanging out at home and watching some Food War show when on comes Jumbo Slice vs Pizza Mart in DC. Instantaneously our mouths start to water, we are longing for a great pie of thin crust goodness. Knowing our chances are very slim we jump on the puter to check out any ideas for getting a thin crust pizza locally. This is where Colonna's comes into play. Hop on the phone and call, our questions are answered. "We server Northern style thin crust pizzas." What a great surprise to learn that not only are these folks Yankee's but heck they are from CT just like me. Score more points as we were able to chat about our home state. Really CT is not all that big :) The Pizza was amazing and totally took care of the much needed fix of thin crust pizza me and BF were hankering for. Oh so thin, and crispy crust, loads of cheese and greasy goodness. If you are a lover of thin crust pizza, hit this place up. You won't be disappointed.

Moved here from Dallas a couple years ago and have been in search of good pizza. Saw a few good reviews of this place a couple weeks ago and decided to go. The place is in an aging strip center, but don't let that facade fool you. This is some of the best pizza you will ever have. I've lived in NYC for years, Dallas and other spots, and so I got to know good pizza. This is as good as it gets. Dough is fresh made and traditional thin and had tossed, with the perfect blend of yeast and olive oil. Ingredients are first class as well - everything fresh. In my mind, this little place in Covington is in the top 5 spots on the planet for great pizza.

Went tonight with my wife and daughter. We got a large pepperoni pie and 3 drinks for under $23. The pizza was excellent! Great value for the price. The waitress was very sweet and courteous. The owner came out to talk to us and tell us about the history of his family's pizza making. We will definitely be going back.

Great pizza but not easy to find with construction. Worth it! Thin crust but not crispy. Great lunch special 2 large slices and a drink with free rwfills for $6. Owner greeted us and wait staff was attentive.

Good alternative to the (excellent) Pizza Man. The Colonna Bread was pepperoni and cheese rolled up together and it was chewy but had a great flavor - completely different from the colon flavor I had been expecting. The pepperoni pizza had plenty of peps and a medium-thickness crust. The white sauce was good, not overpowering. Also got a red-sauce pizza with ham and red onion. This was better than the white sauce. The red sauce was flavorful, but a little thin for my tastes. I prefer thick red sauce and less cheese, but what do I know. Most people seem to like gobs of chewy, tasteless processed monsterella. Savages. Recommended.

Great Pizza! This father/son team know pizza. Try Frank's Pizza. We never leave hungry and the owners are a class act.

This pizza was the best in SA back in the 70's and 80's. It's the best in Mandeville/Covington. Gotta have the Frank's special.

A good pizza starts with a good crust. This place has GREAT crust: not too doughy, not too thin, wood fired, slightly chewy. Add fresh toppings, a thin layer of their excellent sauce and some really good cheese, and you've got perfect pie. Love.

What's not to love about this place. The owner and his son run the place. The son personally waited on us, which was different. He was very attentive but not overbearing. The pizza was alittle pricey but it was worth it definitely will be coming back. Best pizza I've had. I ordered the cheese bread, which was light and airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. We didn't really know what to expect since this was our first visit so we stuck to a traditional pepperoni pizza. It was extremely good . The crust is on the thinner side but definitely good! The sauce is fresh and tasted like real tomatoes instead of stuff from the can. The cheese has a bit of a tang to it, not just traditional mozzarella. All in all it was an excellent lunch experience. They definitely have a repeat customer

Ate dinner here 7/15/15. The Italian salad was fantastic and large enough for 2 or 3 to share. They serve COLD beer also!! The large Frank's pizza was big enough that three shared it and still took some home. The ingredients were fresh, the crust was thin and cooked perfectly. The cannoli was freshly filled and absolutely delicious. The meal was excellent as was the service. It was a pleasure meeting Bobby, son of the owner, and learning about the restaurant from him. We'll be back!!!

Wow. Truly wonderful. Great food and great people. This is a small family owned shop, my favorite kind. The pizza is terrific, and the crust. Not thin like a cracker crust, nor thick and chewy. Right in the middle and oh so yummy.

Excellent! Do yourself a favor and order a Frank's Special. The staff was very kind and knew the menu well. The restaurant has that NYC neighborhood feel to it. Loved it. The next time I'm craving pizza, I am going to Colonna's pizzeria.

Best pizza I have ever had!! The crust was perfect. The toppings are not your average toppings. They are specialty italian meats. No other pizza compares to Colonna's.

Had the 2 slices and a drink for $5. Just can't beat the price and the Pizza was good!

We used to visit another local pizzeria down the street but after figuring out they were charging full price for soft drink refills we stopped going and only went to the big three. Colonna's is located out of sight in the back of a strip mall so even though it had been open for some time we never tried it until several months ago. Needless to say, we are hooked and visit at least once a week. Not only do we find the pizza to be better than the folks down the street but you aren't fleeced by getting a cup full of crushed ice and then being charged full price for another 3 ounces of soft drink. If you like a "deluxe" pizza go for the Frank's special. It's simply awesome. Also be sure to try the spinach bread. Great pizza, great people and $2 beer.........how can you go wrong?

Really good pizza and fresh tasting. My only complaint is that the crust is too chewy like.

Great pizza will go back. Have been to 5 other pizza places in Covington. They do not compare to Colonna's.

The pepperoni pizza was good. The pizza that had everything was okay. I have eaten better pizza in Mandeville. I was disappointed bc they had great reviews but it was decent.

The best pizza on the north shore. Much better than rocket fire and mellow mushroom. Good thin crust. I can see why it is ranked in the top 10 pizzas in NOLA. Owner and son came out to talk to us, which was pleasant. If you are on the north shore and looking for pizza, pass by the big name places and visit Colonna's instead. You won't be disappointed.

Possibly the best pizza in town! Nice family run place. Not much of a beer selection but, if it's pizza your after this is the place to go!

Went to Colonna's on a Sunday for our first visit. Have to admit that it was delicious. Ordered the carnivore pizza and it was excellent. Chef came out to make sure it was like we ordered. We will return for certain.

Two New Yorkers visit Louisiana, and immediately discover a pizza shop that is out of this world AMAZING!! While not exactly New York style, it is NY-NJ-CT style, aka, authentic, delicious pizza!!! The recipe for the dough is perfection. Cheese is real. Sauce is homemade and tastes as such. The ingredients for the toppings are super fresh and absolutely top quality. And yet the price is reasonable! Even better, the owners are 500% passionate about their product and seem to know pizza inside and out, left and right, top to bottom. It sure tastes like it. The family has been in the pizza business for like four generations, famously making pizzas since 1925 at Frank Pepe Pizzeria in New Haven, CT. I tried their regular slices, plus pepperoni, and their muffuletta pizza, which was dynamite delicious!! IF YOU WANT GREAT PIZZA AND YOU DON'T GO HERE, YOU'RE A FOOL!! Plus the $5 two slices and drink special is an incredible value. This is not at all typical thin slice pizza. This is dense, flavorful pizza perfection.
