The absolute best fried shrimp and fried pickles I've had in a long time. Only bad thing... the drive thru service was slow as molasses and they're not open on Sundays. :(

Tried this place as I visited Alexandria for work. I ordered the 6 shrimp platter, with a bottle of water. The shrimp were small, most of the plate was French fries and Coleslaw. Not worth the 10+ dollars. Also the peanuts on the table were stale or something, never have had that texture of a peanut before. Not good all the way around.

It may not be entirely fair for a vegetarian to review a catfish joint. I've never eaten the catfish (although I've heard from others that it's fantastic). All I care about is the pickles - the fried pickles. I don't often eat fried pickles - maybe once or twice a year. But I am a bit of a fried pickle connoisseur. There is a right way and a wrong way to fry pickles. If the batter isn't quite right, you can end up with pickle slices that are too thick and crispy or (worse) too thin and soggy. Smackin Mack's fried pickles are perfection! I highly recommend them.

Excellent food quality and quantity for the price. Place is a little divey but I dig it a lot. Guy at the counter was very friendly and answered my questions since I didn't know what some of the food was. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town here on business.

Nice of them to save my backpack were I left it in the store. Great of them to return it when I called. Too bad they emptied the wallet.

Fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, Cajun FRIEs, see the common theme?!?? Fried. As much as anything fried is to be frowned upon, this place plus their southern hospitality gives nothin but smiles. Better yet here's the equation. Good food x Good prices = a great meal. I had the fishermans combo...I think. A must visit if you somehow make your way to Alexandria, LA.

Went here for lunch during my visit to Alexandria. Fun, casual atmosphere; friendly staff and owner; GREAT food; and the best sweet tea with shaved ice. I had the fried catfish with shrimp and fries. It tasted wonderful and was very filling for around than $8. I will definitely be coming back here when I visit again.

I found this place while travelling for work. It has great fried fish and shrimp. They were fried to perfection and the staff was overly friendly. It felt more like eating a home cooked meal with family as opposed to a restaurant. I highly recommend it.

They've updated table cloths & chairs. Menu prices slightly higher than last year, but so worth it. The lunch specials at very favorable prices are nice add.

The only thing I have tried here is the fish and the shrimp poboy but each were excellent. Not what I expected from fast food seafood at all. The fish was fried to perfection and had a good taste. The shrimp on the poboy were also excellent and the poboy had plenty of them on it. The ratio of ingredients to bread were perfect it was a great poboy. My only criticisms are that I felt that the prices for the fish plates versus the amount of fish on them were a little high because the size of the pieces is small (at least they were small the day I went there.) It was so good it would probably not keep me from coming back though. I would just have to buy the family pack they sell which is a 24 pc fish with fries and hushpuppies plus two lg sides for 29.99. I also didn't really care for their tartar sauce which wouldn't be so bad except they did not have Heinz ketchup, they had Hunts :-(. I will go here again, I may just bring my own condiments.

Excellent, small quaint seafood place. Their fried food is light and crisp and always fresh. I am a sucker for their catfish.

Fried seafood that is not greasy is sometimes hard to find but Smackin Mac's has exactly that-- very tasty with a crisp and not soggy texture. No accumulated grease at the bottom of the basket either. It was just right. The hush puppies and batter for seafood had a slight sweet flavor. It is a very casual atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Restaurant was clean. Went at lunch when they were fairly busy but our order was delIvered to us at our table very quickly. Will definitely be back.

Delicious catfish, sweet/spicy hush puppies, and super-friendly staff. Peanuts in the table for snacking is a nice touch. Oddly, no condiments available except ketchup. No hot sauce? Strange...but not weird enough to keep me from retuning next pass through town! Coleslaw is a little bland, but the crinkle cut fries are hot, fresh, and well seasoned.

This small catfish (fast food) restaurant is located in the back of Chuckie Cheese. The menu includes fried fish, fries, hush puppies, fried shrimp, po-boys, coleslaw, fried frog legs, kid meals, etc. I will sum the food up in one word ... PERFECT!!! The fish taste more like homecooked fish from a family fish fry, rather than the crunch fish from Captain D's. However, the price is pretty high for fast food. The average catfish combo (5 catfish, fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, and a pickle) cost $9.58!!! But the food is worth it and you will definitely get full. The restaurant has both inside dining and a drive thru. The inside is always clean and the workers are always nice. This place has several small tables, but it's never a full crowd inside, so you can possibly bring in a big group if you wanted (just push the tables together). They also have family packs of seafood for $29.00 (includes 15 catfish and your other sides). You probably will need to eat the food before it gets cold...because the fries will become soggy and wet over time.

The Fisherman's Platter is the way to go. Get fried shrimp and fried catfish. It comes with fries, hush puppies, and cole slaw. Doesn't get any better than this unless they offered Meat Pies. This is usually the first place I go to when I visit. This is also a very clean restaurant compared to Robbie G's.

wow. I'm in a salty coma. Relative to Robbie G's this place has to be only 2 stars. If it were the only place in town, then it would deserve a higher rank.
