It was a beautiful day for a drive so instead of going to lunch somewhere in town we opted for a drive out to Wallace Station. For a Saturday Afternoon we were surprised that there was a line out the door. It moved fairly quickly and as I said it was a beautiful day. I ordered the chicken salad plate and my husband a burger. It only took about ten minutes for our food to arrive. Both were very good and the perfect amount of food. He HAD hoped to try a dessert but we're too full. Next time I will start with the Banana Blonde and he will have the chocolate cake;) You can't go wrong with Wallace Station!

Delicious sandwiches with so many unique options. A little crowded/claustrophobic inside but the weather was beautiful so we went outside for a fantastic picnic lunch. Definitely exceeded my expectations for a deli sandwich. Parking is an adjacent lot, a little crowded on a busy Saturday but plenty of spots. The desserts are to die for. Seating is picnic tables outside on the patio and the lawn. Great proximity to the distilleries -- we went between Four Roses and Woodford Reserves.

This was recommended by a friend, we shared the hot brown sandwich and a large salad and both were excellent. This place would be outstanding, even if there were lots of other good restaurants in the area!

Good thing I'm a fast driver because we were able to beat a huge lunchtime crowd here on Tuesday. Wallace Station feels like it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it has plenty of notoriety thanks to Yelp and the Food Network. I was happy to find gluten free bread in Kentucky for my husband, but Wallace Station went a step further with a few gluten free desserts. I went with the grilled Paige's Veggie Cheese. It sounded a little more elevated than a typical afterthought veggie sandwich with the addition of almonds. It was pretty good although I wish it had lots more of the bourbon mustard and horseradish. I could barely detect those components. I got a side of coleslaw instead of the chips, and that was a worthwhile upgrade. It was a juicy slaw without being too heavy on mayo or vinegar. Normally I don't get dessert at lunch, but I was really curious about the corn on the cob cookie. My friend and I ate a few bites in the car. At first, the smell of corn was a bit disconcerting, but after snacking on it a little while later, it tasted like Corn Pops. Yummy. Wallace Station is a good place to stop after the Woodford Reserve tour. Just make sure you beat out your fellow tour mates like I did.

I'm completely obsessed with Wallace Station. I think my friends have stopped asking where I want to eat, because they know my standard answer is Wallace Station. THE DRIVE out Old Frankfort Pike from Lexington is nothing short of spectacular. Sprawling horse farms grace the rolling hills and hand-cut stone fences line the road. It is exactly the picturesque scene that comes to mind when an outsider thinks "Kentucky." THE FOOD is consistently great. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced, and most of the desserts are crafted just down the road at a local bakery. The big brown burger steals the attention, but I think several of the other entrees are better. My favorite is the cubano sandwich--be sure to get it on rye. Don't forget to finish off your meal with a Woodford cookie and a half-pint of Crank & Boom. THE PLACE is quintessential Kentucky. The restaurant occupies the ground floor of an old house. There are several tables inside, but most of the seating is in the backyard (literally). There are six or seven picnic tables on the back deck and about a dozen more tables out in the yard. There's plenty of shade or sun, depending on your preference. And--bonus--you can even try your hand at a game of horseshoes while you wait for your food. After three years of living in Lexington, I can comfortably say Wallace Station is my overall favorite restaurant in the area.

LOVE! Saw this on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and we had to stop. It's in the middle of the town, which is super cute, and easy to pass if you don't pay attention. Such a cute little place! About 10 tables so it probably gets busy. My husband got the burger which he said was amazing and I got the corned beef which was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. DO NOT MISS THE TRUFFLE FRIES! Omg so amazing! You know you have good fries when you don't want to ruin it with ketchup. Prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get and the staff is young and friendly. Do not pass this place up if you are nearby!

We have been trying to get out here and try this restaurant since we saw it was on DDD! I'm glad it's so far away and I'm sad it is as well! It was delicious!!!!!!!! The Cubano sandwich was so incredibly tasty it was slap yo mama good!!!!!! I'm not one to typically get a ham or pork sandwich and this having both I was shocked how after reading all its yummies I wanted to get it. I certainly was not disappointed. My husband had the inside out hot brown and he really enjoyed it, mine was better lol. Our daughter had a ham and cheese and she loved the ham! The ham is good ham country ham not deli sliced packed in water ham. Fresh homemade breads make the sandwiches even more delish! My husband had the chocolate bourbon pecan pie and he devoured it so quick I didn't even get to the about having a bite lol! The cookies are huge and tasty and my personal favorite is anything lemon and they had huge lemon bars! The lemon bar was good the crust and filling on point but I could of done without the sugary glaze it was too sweet. Can't wait to return and try other yummy items!

Delicious breakfast and lunch options at Wallace Station. The brown breakfast panini (eggs, ham, bacon and tomato) with their cheddar mornay sauce was excellent, as was the Reuben made with bourbon mustard. The best part of all was their delicious grilled thick bread (white, wheat or rye). Yummy looking desserts at the counter too. Sit outside at their shady picnic tables for the full experience!

I'm getting more and more frustrated with Wallace Station. I used to feel that most of my meals here were very good, with only a few disappointments; now, I feel just the opposite. Most of my gripes boil down to a lack of attention to the finished product. Today, I had truffle fries (one of Wallace Station's best selling dishes) that were very undercooked and limp. I also had the soup of the day - vegetable beef - which contained tiny bits of leftover beef, mushy asparagus pieces, and cabbage...imagine watered-down cabbage cooked with a beef bone. I really want to love Wallace Station, but I really can't continue to support a restaurant that puts this little effort into its food.

This place is a must try off the beaten path. It's a small former general store type building in the middle of country roads near horse farms. I stopped here for lunch before hitting some of the bourbon trail. The place is small so we had to wait a few minutes to get a table after we ordered at the counter but it's worth the wait. The sandwiches are so large I was only able to eat half of my Cuban and two could split this. It comes with fresh pulled pork with Swiss cheese, country ham, bourbon mustard, and sliced pickles. I ordered it on wheat as recommended and this was a unique and enjoyable version of a Cuban sandwich. The chips that accompany it are just okay, but this place is a must stop. I'll be back here and want to try some other tasty items.

It's got the perfect mix of great food in a small space. A very tempting homemade desserts in a case. I was there by myself, but I definitely did not dine alone! Wonderful experience.

While out exploring the Bourbon Trail, like I did this past weekend, Wallace Station is a great place to stop for a fairly quick lunch. When we arrived around 1:30 there was already a line out the door. Orders are placed at the counter which is located just inside the front door. Inside you will find plenty at least a dozen tables, which were all occupied during our visit, though they were turning over pretty quickly. The also offer a large deck out back and with the warming spring weather we decided to enjoy our lunch outdoors. On the menu are a wide variety of sandwiches that all looked very good. Hamburgers and salads round out the menu. A few craft beer options are available in cans, most of which come from Lexington's West Sixth Brewing. For lunch I finally settled on the Bourbon Trail Triple Crown with roast turkey, cheddar, bacon, Bourbon BBQ sauce, mayo, lettuce and tomato, stacked three layers high on your choice of white, wheat, or rye toast. ($9.95). The sandwich was very large and packed full of quality ingredients. Chips and a pickle spear come served on the side. My wife took the suggestion of our friend who had previously visited Wallace Station and ordered the East Hampton Hot Ham & Brie with city ham and Brie topped with sliced apples and honey mustard ($9.95). This sandwich stole the show and is very highly recommended! If were are ever in the area again we will definitely be back to Wallace Station.

I had the special which was the tahitian burger which was pretty delicious, my wife loved what she had and my five year old ate more than I ever see him eat. I also tried some of their ice cream, cookies and the chocolate bomb which were all great. The atmosphere is unique with most of the seating being outside with live bluegrass music plays. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and some of the songs call for some audience participation. I don't know the degree to which the ingredients are local but it looked like they were where it was possible including fish from the nearby hydroponics farm. All of the menu sounds great and I wanted nearly all of the dishes I saw going past. I really look forward to coming back. I will complain that the graphic design on the menu doesn't make the kid's menu stick out like you're used to at other restaurants.

Guy Fieri's famous brown burger. How is it? When I stepped in here, it was very interesting with the type of environment. This restaurant encourages outdoor seating with a a lot of picnic tables. I split a burger with a friend, one half Santa Anita and one half famous brown burger. The Santa Anita isn't bad, but I can see why Guy's burger was a top 5. The ham completely changed the taste of the Burger. At first I questioned about a burger with ham, but when I bit into it, it was something definitely worth trying. The restaurant was also a converted house, with the bathroom looking like it was being remodeled. The line goes around the tables, but overall I enjoyed just getting the chance to sit outside and be able to play horse shoes. It brings in the problem of washing hands though. If they had an outdoor sink just to wash their hands before digging through some amazing burgers I think it would encourage more playing before getting your meal!

As the saying goes, never order fish on Monday... The same might be said for ordering a hamburger at a self-proclaimed deli. Such was the case with my most recent visit to Wallace Station Deli and Bakery. I have eaten there several times and have always been happy with my selection--which had never been a burger until this past Sunday. Noting that 'The Big Brown Burger' was given high praise by Guy Fieri of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," who named The Big Brown one of his Top 5 burgers, I was curious to know if it in fact held up to such lofty praise. Griddled on the bun, with ham, bacon, tomato and white Cheddar mornay, it was delivered to my table soon after I placed my order and upon instant examination I was a bit surprised. The presentation reminded me of a backyard picnic. "This is the 'world-famous' Big Brown Burger?" I questioned to myself. But presentations can be deceptive so I dove in. And I was truly surprised as to just how bland it tasted. For such advertised fanfare, it was fairly average all things considered. Bold or remarkably flavorful, it was not. Definitely surprising as it is billed as being locally sourced ground beef. I have honestly had a more flavorful burger at the Backyard Burger chain as compared to The Big Brown. The chips were also rather generic. As an option you can substitute fries for an additional $1.50 which would put the overall price at $11.50. An $11.50 burger it is not. The menu describes the bun as a toasted Kaiser roll. It was not--at least not a traditional Kaiser roll. It tasted just like your everyday grocery store brand hamburger bun and was not toasted or was extremely lightly toasted if so. I could easily reel off a dozen or so other area burgers that would leave The Big Brown at the starting gate. In horse racing parlance, it's running in the middle of the pack on its best day. If Guy Fieri truly ranks it as one of his top 5 burgers, I can only assume his palate is far less sophisticated than his credentials would have one believe. Unless you are really just hungry for a burger, I recommend that you stick with the deli sandwiches and desserts--and the fried chicken is also worth the trip. They are definitely the best "bets" on the menu at Wallace Station. The drive there is certainly scenic but if you want a memorable burger that lives up to its billing, keep on driving and go somewhere else.

I had to stop by this restaurant because of its notoriety from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We ordered The Big Brown Burger and The Wallace Cubano. Guy Fieri has been known to try the burger we ordered so we had to give it a shot. The burger didn't totally live up to our expectations, but the white cheddar mornay was super yummy. I'm so glad I ordered the Cubano because it was probably the best I've ever had. Definitely order this sandwich when you visit the Wallace Station. We made sure to order the artichoke fritters as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. The fritter was completely filled with artichoke and didn't fall short in that department. I'm so glad we stopped here on our way home from Gatlinburg instead of eating at a fast food joint.

This is my third time coming to this place and every time I'm not disappointed. I love the food here every time and the service is always amazing. This time I land up getting the big brown burger that's famous here. I was not disappointed at all. The food is always so amazing and just cooked right. This time when I went there was a line and it took a little bit longer than normal but when it comes to quality they don't skip on it. I love how they have the outdoor seating on the deck and they even have tables too if you want to sit on the lawn so I mean who can ask for more of a country feel in this place. When you think of Kentucky proud this is definitely one of them. This is one place I take people every time I have a visit from out of town. You have to definitely try one of their ice cream's or even one of their bakery items. I don't have the oatmeal cookie and I was happy man. I would say come here during the weekday other weekend because it gets a little crazy and hectic and packed. But either the day of the week you're going to be a happy person with the food you get.

I am from Georgetown but currently live in San Diego. I make a point to come to Wallace Station every time I am home on vacation. This is a small little spot but the food is top notch. It is cozy and doesn't have a ton of frills. Most of the sitting is outside. But if you want friendly service and quality food you better stop by. The burgers are on point and the pressed sandwiches are excellent. You have to try the fried artichokes though. Out of this world.

I'm glad nobody told me in advance that this is a Guy Fieri approved place, because frankly, I think that guy is kind of a douchebag. My co-worker heard I was going to Kentucky and said "if you are in the Lexington area, it's worth a detour". And it really was. Like he and fellow yelpers have mentioned, the drive is picturesque going in, and you get rewarded by wonderful homeade food, which we ate like starving Ethiopians. It was every bit as delicious as I'd hoped for. I was also really hungry. And we had just kayaked down a river, which made that shower in the bathroom seem kind of appealing. But I didn't use it, for that would be weird. great food though. Worth the detour was right on. If I lived in the area I'd be there all the time.

I ordered the Brown Burger (what Guy ate), a small Chicken and Dumplings, sweet tea, a Bacon/Cheese/Chive scone, and a piece of carrot cake. The burger was very bland, but it wasn't dry so I was still happy about that. The cheese sauce reminded me of white gravy without the black pepper, although the consistency was different. The dumplings were really good. The desserts were the best, in my opinion. If this was Guy's top 5 burger, it must have been seasoned that day. There was a line out the door when I got there, so TV got them the crowd, but I was disappointed because the burger was juicy, but not special. The Red Robin DGB beat it's socks off.

This is a must if you visit this part of the neutral state. It reminded me a lot of Pucket's down in Leiper's Fork, TN because of the awesome food served basically in the middle of nowhere in an old store. They use local ingredients and serve local products, like Crank&Boom ice cream, West6, and Kentucky Ale, which only adds to the uniqueness and awesomeness of this place.

Found this watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and was not disappointed. All the food was great, shared the country ham and pimento cheese and the brown burger. Both were great, everything taste great. Tried my Son's grilled cheese and it was the very good. The Bread is made on site, the ingredients taste fresh. Was lucky to walk in as someone was walking out but seating is limited with weather. I would highly recommend.

Amazing atmosphere and great food. I come here every time I'm close to the area. Their big brown burger is amazing and their truffle fries are impossible to beat. I always get an order to take home as well. Good price for the high quality food you get here.

This is one of my favorite places in central KY. It is a bit out of the way from Lexington, you've been warned. No need to take off on the rating for that when you know that when you mapped it out, it told you how far it was. It is over the Woodford County line but it's a very scenic route. Passing many beautiful horse farms. With the same owner/chef as Windy Corner and Holly Hill, this restaurant is similar but more casual. I prefer this restaurant over the others. The menu is offered at alltimes, so instead of ordering breakfast food in the morning, I can have my favorite, The Cobb Salad. With it's seasonal greens, homemade croutons and dab of guacamole, it's one of the best around. I've had a breakfast burrito there, but I'm not a huge breakfast fan. My husband gets a different sandwich each time that he visits, so the menu is never boring. The sandwiches come with chips but for an extra dollar, you can substitute the chips for fries. The meals are served on paper plates, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you've been warned of that too.

Stopped here with the family while we were in KY on a mini vacation! Can't lie that what sold us on trying it out was the fact that it was on Triple D! As soon As we pulled into the parking lot my husband knew it was his kind of place! I LOVE trying new things, so as soon as I saw the hot ham and Brie with apple slices and honey mustard I knew what I was getting! It was delicious! And my husband had the Big Brown burger which he said was "money" (lol) and as a tradition when we eat somewhere we like my husband buys a shirt from the place. Needless to say we left with a shirt and he's begged me every day since to go back and try a new sandwich, too bad we live 9 hours away. If we every return to the area it will be #1 on the list of places to go back and eat!

We were on our way to Tennessee and looking for fun restaurants to stop at along the way. Wallace Station has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, which is a surefire way for a restaurant to make our short list. ;-) Well, as long as it has a vegetarian option - and this definitely delivered on that front. As we neared the supposed location, I was half-convinced that the GPS was taking us to the wrong location, but indeed, this restaurant is kind of in the middle of the country. It has a nice well-rounded menu, and we were able to get both breakfast and lunch options around 10:00 AM or so. We had the Ouita's Sardou Panini, which was hearty and tasty, along with some fried artichoke bites. Decent quality food off a country road - worth a stop for something quick but freshly prepared!

Went here for lunch with coworkers. Was surprised they had a gluten-free menu full of sandwiches on gluten-free bread locally made and at least one gluten-free dessert (a chocolate chip cookie that was good.) and all of this was pleasant to see. You place your order and then someone brings it to you, service is good and it turned out to be a really good lunch spot. A note though, they told me the truffle fries while gluten free get made in the same fryer as fish and battered things so other celiacs will want to avoid that as I did. But I'd suggest Wallace Station if you're looking for lunch in a non-chain, old general store type spot that harkens back to an older time while still providing lots of meal options as a decent price.

Great little stop off the Bourbon trail! In our group we had the Cubano, hot brown and Santa Anita . I trend splitting the sandwich (they are large) to save room for the desserts. They feature an array of tasty sweets... double chocolate cake, blueberry muffins or giant cookies.

This place would have gotten 5 stars but the service didn't have it together that day. The cashier rang in a double order from what we ordered and it took 20 min to get a country ham biscuit (totally worth it, warm buttery light biscuit with a hearty serving of thinly sliced country ham). When our food was brought out there were several orders mixed together and people were getting upset. They called our name by what was on the receipt from our credit card but brought out 3 other tables food all to our table. Leading us to believe we'd been charged for everything. They stated their system was off and we wouldn't be. 2 coffees good. Derby pie, some of the best I've had. Country ham and biscuit, amazing! We'll give this place another shot and hope they have things a little more together this time.

Decided to go out to WS since it's been a while since we've been out that way. Nothing has changed. I tried the Big Brown since I was in the mood for a burger. A cooked just right burger with ham, bacon, tomato and white cheddar mornay for $9.95. It was delicious. The weather was delightful so we chose to sit outside. Can't wait till the next time we go for lunch.

What a great find outside of Lexington! It's tough to find places that have good 'man food' and healthier options, but this fit the bill perfectly! Husband loved the Famous Brown Burger and my Brie Salad was perfect- fresh, good portion, etc. The other couple with us also enjoyed their Hot Brown Sandwich (said it was pretty good, though not the best) and one other sandwich. Gluten free cookies were perfect dessert, as was the ice cream. Vibe is very hole in the wall, which was perfect. Inside is very tiny, but outside seating more than makes up for it. Not the friendliest staff, but certainly not the worst either. Will definitely return when we get the chance!

I guess I don't see what the big deal is here. We went on a recommendation while visiting Louisville... and I should have been weary when I saw Guy Fieri was the big draw. The place was packed, with a long line and no where to sit, so that seemed promising, but once we got our food it was just regular diner sandwiches and salads. Nothing special. I'm not sure what else is in that area, so maybe it's the best nearby, but I was underwhelmed.

Huge Cubano sandwich with pulled pork and ham, pickles, and buttered bread both side grilled dark. Very hot, fresh, and tasty. Hubby bagged half of the sandwich home. The mediterranean wrap had a lot of veggies packed tight with vinaigrette dressing. The wrap does not look huge but I could only finish half. The pickle was crisp and sweeter than all others I have tasted. I can see why the rave reviews for their pickles. Could use more side choices, perhaps. So far, only prepackaged chips and pickle come with sandwiches with no extra charge. Sub for a potato salad, cole slaw, or another side (forgot the choice) for 99 cents extra. $1.99 extra for subbing for a side salad. Sweet potato fries or steamed veggies would have been nice. The ice tea was excellent: strong but not bitter. Plenty of seating outdoors. Line out the door to place the order at the counter on a Saturday. Excellent value. Worth the (scenic) drive on the Old Frankfort Pike.

I love the vibe of this place. It's scenic, it's comfortable, and it feels like you're hanging out with friends (whether you know anybody else there or not) in a spacious backyard. The food is very good as well. My husband I shared a club sandwich and a burger and enjoyed both. I do wish more unique sides came with the sandwiches or that they lowered their prices a little bit if you're just getting a sandwich or burger with some standard potato chips. Overall, it's somewhere we'd return and is a great local place for visitors to enjoy. It is a substantial distance from town, but the drive is gorgeous!

It was a long drive to get there but well worth it. I had "The Famous Big Brown Burger." Guy Fieri of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" named The Big Brown one of his Top 5 burgers! Griddled on the bun, with ham, bacon, tomato and white Cheddar mornay....very tasty!

A little out of the way, but absolutely worth the trip. It is like a bistro in the middle of a cow field. The food is wonderful...very fresh tasting, and unique profiles of flavor. The jalepeno ham and cheese was a revelation, with caramelized onions and a rich chipotle mayo. The Big Brown was a very tasty burger, and the soups were wonderful. The place was understandably packed, so we ate outside, but that did nothing but contribute to the down-homey feeling. We narrowly missed a storm, but to be honest, something about running to our car while it rolled in just added to the experience. Absolutely recommended.

Might have gone here after binge-watching hours of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (don't judge me) but will be returning because the food was so delicious and the service was awesome. It's a beautiful drive to get here (even in the middle of March when everything is still brown and dead) and the building itself is just charming. I've got a bit of a thing for old buildings so I was psyched. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the guy taking our order was beyond helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions and tips. The food was out to us pretty quickly, considering that the place was pretty full. My husband ordered the Big Brown Burger and I ordered the Cubano, but they let us both have half of each on our plates. Both of the sandwiches were delicious. They were both such unique combinations of flavors, that they kind of knocked my socks off. Also, as a sidenote, the pickle that came with my sandwich was probably the BEST pickle I have had in a LONG time. And I know that it's just a pickle and who even writes reviews about pickles, but it was CRISP. And juicy. And delicious. I'm drooling a little bit just writing about it. Anyway, GO HERE. Just do it. Just take the little bit of extra time to get off the beaten path and GO HERE.

Although this place gets a lot of buzz from the Food Network, I think Yelpers are right on in their reviews. I'm not going to lie, a cute little deli smack dab in the middle of gorgeous, sprawling, Kentucky horse farms has a definite appeal. I liked the look of Wallace Station the second we pulled into the parking lot. The atmosphere is also charming, with it's glass case full of wonderful desserts, and it's fun menu hanging from the ceiling. Of course I had to order the Famous Big Brown Burger, since Guy Fieri made it famous, listing it as one of his top 5. Now, the reality was, Guy and I must have very different tastes because although it was good, the actual burger was the worst part. The patty was shaped like a hockey puck, which led me to believe it was pre-packaged and frozen, and it had very little taste. The ham, bacon, tomato, and white cheddar mornay made the sandwich. Good? Yes. Top 5 of all time? Not for me. My husband ordered The Wallace Cubano and I sampled. Now THAT is a sandwich I would come back for! The sandwiches all came with a side of basic potato chips and a pickle. We also ordered a couple of desserts which were very good...especially the corn on the cob cookie. I'd say all in all, definitely worth a try. But just keep your expectations in check.

Has your mouth been blue-balled from you or your significant other's cooking? Well, ladies and gentlemen. Look no further.... The baked goods is always spot on. Absolutely delicious. Sandwiches are amazing, particularly the Cubano, Triple Crown and Big brown Burger. I strongly recommend the Triple Crown Sandwich with Spicy Chipotle Mayo. It delivers a serious ORGASM in your mouth. LITERALLY, not figuratively. Also, for those vegetarians (what? Vegetarians in KY? NONSENSE!), try the Greek Salad. If I am going strict Paleo, the greek salad is my go-to. It is certainly worth the drive from Lexington to experience this place first hand. Take a date here. You'll impress them with KY's beautiful landscape and your culinary taste. BLUE-BALL YOUR MOUTH NO MORE!! **Sorry if this review has offended anyone** Written under the influence of bourbon, by a true Kentuckian (Bleed Blue)

I wanted to love this place. Like, really love, and re-visit and cherish as a favorite place. It's a Kentucky business, it was featured on Foodnetwork's 'Diners, Drive-ins and (one of my fave shows), and the building itself is adorable. The kiddo and I went to Wallace station to meet my parents and aunt and uncle who were visiting from Ohio. We had high expectations, since we'd heard good reviews, and we are all fans of 'Diners.' The scenery on the way to Wallace is one of the best you'll find in Kentucky - just beautiful and lush and like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. The drive was thoroughly enjoyable, and the building and location for Wallace is just lovely. I snapped numerous pictures, and it made a lovely, scenic memory for me and the kiddo. I really loved that a chicken was even taking a leisurely stroll, crossing the road:) Unfortunately, the food was non-memorable. My aunt and mom ordered the Reuben sandwich and the Pimiento cheese sandwich. While the sandwiches were large, they both said that the bread - while tasty and homemade - was simply too thick to be enjoyable, and the ratio of bread to filling made it dry and unpleasant (they removed the top slices and ate them like open-faced sandwiches). The rest of us ordered the 'Diners'-featured KY Hot Brown Burgers. The burgers were where I was sorely disappointed, after all the rave reviews. The burger was thin, and had that unmistakable fried-on-a-steel-top, pressed-juiceless taste. The ham and bun were forgettable. But it was the cheese sauce that I just flat-out disliked and really ruined the whole burger for me. It was thick and pasty and tasteless, not a ooey, gooey, flavorful yummy sauce that could have helped with such a dry burger. All of the sandwiches were served with out-of-the-bag chips and dill pickle spears, for around $11 apiece As a burger lover, I don't mind shelling out over $10 for a good burger, especially if it comes with hand-cut fries or chips. But for that sad burger and some store-bought chips slapped next to it, I would definitely not order again. However, the bakery section (my daughter walked away smiling with a HUGE chocolate chip cookie, which I didn't sample to judge) and the lovely location would prompt me to come back again and try something different next time.

Love it! I have heard lots about this place but never had the chance to go!! I'm so glad I did!! I have a gluten sensitivity and just planned on getting a salad, but they had a very large gluten free menu with lots of sandwich options. They make their own gluten free sandwich bread and it was delicious!! I will be coming back.

Back to wrong orders so away my star goes. We had four sandwiches yesterday for lunch, and two of them were wrong. The food is REALLY good, and the atmosphere is great, but just be aware if you change anything on the original sandwich, your order will be wrong. No mayo on that, how about we'll just put extra mayo on?!? This is not a huge deal, but it seems to happen often.

I waited a little bit to write this review, as sometimes when you have a really good plate of food, you have to let the hype die down a little. Now with a clear head, I can revisit mental palate I have of Wallace Station. Situated on Old Frankfort Pike, you'll find that whether you are coming or going, Wallace Station Deli and Bakery is a nice pit-stop. You might've spent the day touring the distilleries of the area, or took in some races at Keeneland, this spot is going to fill a nice spot in your belly. The menu is varied and delicious-sounding up and down. There is a small white-dry-erase board that showcases the specials for the day which is always worth checking out. To say that this place is a quintessential deli is sort of an understatement. All of the food looks as good as it tastes. I'm sure the place is prone to the occasional poor dish, but what place isn't? I went with the Mediterranean Wrap and some of the white truffle fries with parmesan cheese. For the sake of brevity, we'll call them DAMN and HOT DAMN! The damn mediterranean wrap was delicious and crisp in taste, it was like well-made tabbouleh wrap. The hot damn white truffle oil fries were amazing with their garlic aioli sauce. Be careful to not over do it friends, because on a hot summer day you will find yourself in a state of expansion (with a few belts loosening). Wallace Station is this converted farm house type thing that sits across from a bed and breakfast, adding to its charm as a down-home deli. One particular thing I enjoyed about the place was how it felt like you had just stepped into someone's living room/kitchen. It was homey, so much so that the bathroom clearly sported a shower. Of course, that amenity is out of commission. Who would want to wash away all the deliciousness of Wallace Station?

Stopped in on a sunday. Wasn't too busy which meant we got to sit outside. I got the "Big Brown" burger. Asked for it to be cooked medium and it was not. No big deal, just always ask for medium if the offer. The burger was bland to say the least. The moray sauce had no flavor and reminded me of bechamel. I've been here before and everything else I have gotten has be great. This burger however was just okay.

Fried oysters were fantastic! So was my Triple Crown sandwich.. But I have to take half of it home because it's so huge. Everyone was very friendly that worked here too!!

My wife suggested stopping here on our way back from vacation and it was very good. Get the big brown burger. It comes with ham, bacon, tomato, and white cheddar mornay. I had to look up what mornay was....it means cheese sauce. Anyway the burger was excellent. Sheila had the Reuben and it was very good. It didn't have 1k island though, it had mustard but she still loved it. Our friends really loved the truffle fries....

The grilled pimento cheese on wheat is my favorite sandwich on the planet earth. I think you have to ask for the regular pimento cheese GRILLED and make sure they know its not the one with the ham, unless you want the one with the ham. Fresh bread, local tomatoes and lettuce, yum. The sandwich is huge and I always try to save half, but it never manages to happen because I can't stop eating until its all gone. My boyfriend loves the burgers. Oh, and an Ale-8 is always recommended. Service has always been super friendly and its a very relaxed atmosphere, provided you arrive outside of rush hour. It gets pretty busy, but its totally worth it. And totally worth the drive, no matter how far away you live.

Incredible food!! Love, love, love the bean soup and cornbread. They grill the cornbread!! To die for! If you are lucky it will be pretty out and you can sit outside and meet the porch cat. It is a beautiful setting and great food. One of my favorite places to take a moment and enjoy life.

Delicious!! The big brown burger was everything that I expected out of it. The cheese and lean beef really made the burger for me. And the small size restaurant and country feel was really something to enjoy as well. It is out in the middle of no where, but definitely worth the drive.

Friend & I ended up with dry bread, dry cookie, and dry carrot cake with a totally mushy center as though it had been frozen... I expected better after paying $20 for a sandwich, drink, cookie. We were only 2 of 4 customers & it took forever to get our food. I was only in town for the long weekend, but the local peeps I was visiting even acknowledged the quality has been on a downward spiral. Two stars because at least the pimento cheese was decent & listening to Siri pronounce "Pisgah Road" was entertaining.

Not your traditional Cuban sandwich, the Wallace Cubano is a hearty, thick sandwich full of their tasty pulled pork (it's a sandwich, not pressed). No one flavor was overpowering, though, and it was savory, sweet, cheesy, tangy and toasty all at once. I stopped here in between distillery tours; it's not out of the way at all and well worth a planned stop.

Stopped by on our way back to Alabama from Ohio because we saw the place on DDD. Wallace Station did not disappoint. Creatively-imagined sandwiches made with good ingredients on bread from the Midway School Bakery just up the road. And artisan cookies or pastries for dessert. What's not to like?

Took a large group of friends into Wallace Station while we were visiting the state capital. A quaint little out of the way store with a lot of character, I must say. While the dining facility its self was very small, I found it cozy enough without being overly squashed. I had the Hot Brown Burger and it arrived with a dill pickle spear, chips and a small cup of cole slaw. While the burger was tasty, it arrived cold. The cole slaw was flat and had no "zip". While the sandwich was fair, the desert counter was overflowing with sweet devilish goodness. Cookies as big as desert plates, and some of the most decadent looking brownies ever. I had a slice of Tiramisu and was surprised at how wonderful it was. The desert counter kept this place from getting a 2 star rating for sure. I'd try it again myself, just to see if they were having an off day.

My experience with Wallace Station has been delicious and not so delicious. I loved the cubano, I had it on rye. My wife usually orders the inside out hot brown which is really good. I'm sticking with those from now on. I tried the big brown and was unimpressed. I couldn't get my mouth around it, because it was so huge it made it hard to eat (i think this may have been right after triple d). I had the mahi sandwich once and it was dry. The reuben was fair but i won't order it again . I've tried a couple of other items that I can't remember.

It's a dive but it's delicious! Don't be put off by a line out the door... It moves fast! Our group tried the inside out hot brown, hot brown burger and the pimento cheese and ham panini. All delicious and enormous. Consider splitting if you're a light to medium eater. Sit out back on the deck. They serve nice beers as well. An easy drive off the path of the bourbon trail!

YES YES YES!! I crave this place and go here a lot. I live about 20 minutes away in Frankfort, I get so excited when we go here, the food is amazing! Anything you order will be awesome and enough for TWO people. They make their own bread and you will want to buy a loaf when you leave. Don't forget about the pastry counter....I always have to take my desert to-go. You won't regret this place.

We needed a place for breakfast before going to Woodford Reserve for a tour. We missed the TripleD show on the place, but my daughter remembered seeing it and made the recommendation we give it a try. We practically had the place to ourselves which made getting our order quick. The prices are very affordable for the amount you receive. If I had known the sandwiches were so large we would have shared instead of each of getting our own. Overall, good food, great little place. Once you stop in, take a drive around some of the most beautiful countryside in the world -- Bluegrass Thoroughbred Horse farms.

My iphone led us in the wrong direction, so be careful using GPS when trying to find this place. It's a cute place in an unfussy setting. Would have been great to eat outside, but it was just too hot. My mom had a burger, which was good but not remarkable. I had the cuban sandwich and it was HUGE and really tasty. Seriously, this thing was about the size of my head. I managed to finish about 1/4 of it and we agreed that we could have easily split it and had leftovers. I would have liked to try their salads, but alas, that sandwich did me in. A tour bus group came in a few minutes after we got our food, so we got there just in time. It's easy to see how they could get swamped with 20+ senior citizens walking it at once.

OK, this was a cool place. In the middle of nowhere, I thought the GPS was having problems then there on the left was the place, a cool old house. The bathroom still has the shower in there. I had a burger with ham and bacon, how can that be a bad thing. My partner had a sandwich that could have fed a small army. Local beer, great baked goods, friendly service and outdoor seating. Cool place. tony

Saw this place on Diners Drive ins and Dives. The Big Brown Burger and the Pimento Cheese and Country Ham Sandwich on there looked to die for. We tried both, The Burger was disappointing, while the taste was pretty good, the portion wasnt as big as they showed on TV. It was still good but didnt live up to the hype. The pimento cheese sandwich was very tasty, I think they make their own bread and that really makes the difference. We went late in the day so they ran out of Fries and ice tea (bummer) Id try it again, but I guess I was foolded by the power of TV again

Overall, I love the location, the feel of the old-home-now-restaurant, and the overall relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. However, the food was not great in my opinion. Actually, It was on the bad-side of edible, though I did thoroughly enjoy the cookie I ate from their bakery. I should mention the service was so-so, not bad but not good. The food took a while to come out, which would have been okay with me had it actually tasted good. The portions are HUGE!!!!!!!!! Look at the photos I posted. The "Inside-Out Hot Brown" is what I ordered and if I were to buy Wallace Station I would immediately remove it from the menu or I would remove "hot brown" from the name of this beast of a sandwich. It was dry overall, the bread especially. The taste of the various ingredients did not mesh well at all. The experience at Wallace Station was overall very disappointing, and I'm restraining myself saying that. The funny thing about this place is that they were featured in "Garden and Gun Magazine," which I had never heard of before. Their various recommendations to gun-toting gardeners might be good usually, but they definitely don't know what good sandwiches should taste like. Next time I'm in the beautiful town of Versailles, Kentucky I will drive right by Wallace Station.

A well-known and very busy roadfood stop on a back road near Midway. Super casual, inexpensive and fun. Good burgers, sandwiches a some specials. Monday night fried chicken is very good and worth a stop. Best on a warm, dry day when outside picnic table seating is the way to go.

I was here last summer on a vacation trip, and came back this year while on a road trip to Georgia. The food, once again, was very good. The menu is a little heavy on the meat, but that seems to be pretty typical in KY. Service friendly. This time we could eat outside (last year was too hot), which was a plus. Great local color too!

Unlike its sister-concept restaurant, Windy Corner, where we've never had a less than excellent meal, our visits to Wallace Station was sorely wanting. My Ol' Kentucky Ham and Grilled Cheese Sandwich looked pretty enough when it was served, but when I picked it up to take a bite, I discovered that half of the bottom slice of bread was missing! It seems like the kitchen just figured they'd hide their mistake by flipping the sandwich over. Ans, in Kentucky, when the menu says Ol' Kentucky Ham, you expect to get "old", I.e., country ham, not "city" ham. At first my husband was enjoying his burger, that is until he ran into not one, one not two, but three inedible pieces of something, griddle, I suppose. And all this for the low, low price of $25.00. We will never go back, and recommend others to avoid the place.

A nice drive out to Wallace Station. Sandwiches mostly and even a line on a Sunday at 11 am. The morning we drove out, they had run out of eggs. My reuben was fine. Very large. A shared cake was also fine. Like its cousin, Windy Corner, I still want to see more.

I am so happy all of you got to eat at this place. I drove from Louisville with a friend and our 4 kids. All Burger Lovers. We were excited and hungry. We called 15 minutes before we got there because we heard the Google map was wrong (which it is) and tried to get better directions (which they couldn't give - but that's ok). Of course being Southern myself, we told the lady on the phone that we were coming for what we heard were really great burgers. When we got there at 3:40 we put the kids in a booth and went to order. There were only 2 other people in the place. We ordered the burgers and the lady stopped us and said, "oh I'm sorry but we don't have any burgers left". WHAT?? You were just on TV for your burgers, you don't close for another hour and 20 minutes, we just called and told you 15 minutes ago telling you SIX of us were coming for burgers and NOW you are out of burgers?? Did the Hamburgerler come by in his black pannel van and steal your burgers or were you somehow unprepared for voluminous visits from burger fans who saw you on TV?? WOW is all I can say. Disappointed kids & disappointed, and disgusted moms. Ended up driving up to Galvin's near Versailles where they actually fed us burgers.

This is the best sandwich shop in the area. It takes a bit to get there...about half way between Lexington and downtown Midway, but it's worth the drive. The sandwiches are great! They make their own bread, salads, and deserts, and the meat, veggies, and cheese are super fresh. Still, my favorite part about this place is the homemade ice cream...SO GOOD! A great place for lunch. It's a cozy restaurant, the food is always great, and it's in a beautiful location...right in the middle of horse country. Wallace Station deserves all four stars. The only negatives are that the place is out of the way, and hours can be fickle.

My oh my what an outstanding establishment. As Kentucky as it gets, unpretentious and downright tasty. The sandwiches are top-notch and the atmosphere genuine. I normally feel that most restaurants are best enjoyed in a particular season, but I can equally envision myself enjoying a sandwich on the hottest day of summer or in 2 feet of snow at Wallace Station--it just feels right. I normally get the Santa-Anita club (I'm a sucker for guacamole) or anything with brie. Breakfast is fantastic as well--the hell-a-rito rivals the size of its Chipotle counterpart, so come hungry. It is a bit of a drive, but if you like food, it'd be worth your time to venture out Old Frankfort Pike on a Saturday and order anything on the menu. You can't go wrong.

Once we FINALLY found it, we ordered a Inside out Hot Brown and Paiges Veggie Cheese. Given how hard we tried to find it and rave reviews, we were disappointed. Hot Brown was decent, portions were plentiful, prices were in line. Veggie cheese had little flavor, although was fresh veggies. Staff was indifferent. Wouldn't make the effort to return, although Midway was neat to walk around and seemed to have some more promising restaurants.

Had heard about this place for a while but it wasn't till I was driving down I-64 that it was convenient to stop. I enjoyed the Cuban I ordered. It was huge. There was nice subtle mustard flavor to go along with the pickles ham cheese and pork. I really liked the outdoor deck-it was peaceful and overlooking a white barn.

Wow. Best bread and sandwich I've had in a long time. Beautiful drive, no matter what road/direction you take. Very small. Maybe 10 booths that hold 4 people each. Don't come with a large crowd.

I'm not sure I get all the love directed at this place. It's a fun experience but the food is over-seasoned and a little too heavy. The sandwiches are huge, and the bread is cut nice and thick, but everything is too greasy. The bean soup was good, if different - it has a distinct vinegar flavor that I actually kind of liked. The cornbread was tasty, but too salty. It's worth giving it a try, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping for given all the hype.

    (3)
  • Keith K.

NOT what I expected. I was looking for that over the top sandwich. Wife had a chicken wrap which she thought was ok, I ordered the ruben, very disappointed. The corned beef was processed, WHAT, yep processed and amazingly salty. I could not finished the sandwich it was that salty. We thought the place was laid back, the staff was friendly. Coming from the Chicago area was looking for the "different" everyone was raving about. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day. Would not return.

Normally, we really enjoy Wallace Station and I've taken several people visiting KY there to eat. On this occasion, I decided to take my step-Dad who loves burgers there for a quick dinner. Now, Wallace Station closes at 8:00, we arrived at 7:20, I've worked in a restaurant so I know patrons arriving nearly an hour before closing to a place that makes burges and sandwiches should not be a big deal. Well, we were wrong. First we were told they were out of burgers and it was too late to thaw anymore out (so apparently they use frozen meat) and second the young lady who waited on us was so rude we almost left. We placed our order and she just walked away and left us there holding our money before we reminded her we needed to pay. She remarked she was distracted trying to close, emphasis on the word 'close." Despite this, I dropped a couple dollars in the tip jar when she turned around. Well, either she was ticked they had to heat up a couple sandwiches when they were trying to close 40 minutes before their closing time or she thought we didn't tip her because when she brought our sandwiches out to us, she practically tossed them at us. My stepdad was so pissed he doesn't ever want to come back! I tried to explain this isn't the norm but it all added up to a terrible night and I'm not sure we'll ever be back. So thanks to all working last night, you just completely ruined my parents visit to Kentucky with your rudeness.

We were driving back from Tennessee and thought this would be a great place to stop for lunch on the way back to Chicago. We split the inside out Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich and got a side of the soup of the day (cream of chicken and mushroom) and potato salad. Being "northerners", neither my husband nor I had ever had any version of a Kentucky Hot Brown before, so I don't know how this compares to others, but this sandwich was delicious. I asked for no ham (hate ham) and it was still delicious. The sandwich was big, more than enough to split, and I surprised myself by eating the whole half. It was a great balance of flavors and warm and gooey and great. The soup was obviously homemade and very good, and while my husband did not share any of the potato salad, he said (while wolfing it down) that it was very good. I had not expected to give Wallace Station five stars, because, really, how good can a deli be? But what we tried was way beyond expectations. We had obviously come at kind of a dead time, since we were the only people in line, and I've seen pictures where the place was packed. The bakery counter was very tempting and we settled on a lemon bar. It was a little too sweet and not lemony enough for us, but still good. I would be interested in trying some of their other bakery goods. I would definitely order the inside-out hot brown sandwich again.

I was in town on business from Los Angeles, and swung by Wallace Station on the recommendation of a local. As some of the other reviews allude to, it can be tough to find. iPhone stopped a bit short, and when I plugged the address into my Garmin, it was sending me off another four miles down the road. Happened to catch the place out of the corner of my eye as I passed it. The place has a country store/sandwich counter vibe. I was there in the middle of the afternoon and was one of the only people in the restaurant. I can see where it'd be a handful with folks lining up outside the door. I'm a big fan of Triple-D, and decided to go for Guy Fieri's favorite Big Brown hamburger (done medium-rare). I'm not usually not into bacon and ham on my burger, but decided to give it a whirl. Also got a cup of the chicken & mushroom soup and a ginger cookie. Verdict: I'd have to say the burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. Beef was excellent (apparently grass-fed and sourced locally), and I used almost a whole napkin with every bite. The flavors all worked together very well, and the creamy cheese was a nice change of pace from sliced/melted. It came with chips, although I might've preferred fries. The chicken & mushroom soup was very good, with the chicken appearing to be more shredded/pulled as opposed to chopped. Nice flavor and texture, but I could've used more mushroom kick. Not sure if the cookie was worth a whole three bucks, but it *was* very good. The young man behind the counter was very friendly, and took the time to recommend some good steak houses in the area. What fun is traveling if you can't turn it into a foodie pilgrimage, right?

Location, cool old building, lots of parking, ease of finding and supporting a local joint... Awesome... BUT... The homemade bread was terrible and my sandwiches flavor was all off. It seriously lacked any freshness and the bbq sauce tasted like Sysco crap. I'll give it one more chance but I'll never order the triple crown or whatever the hell I got again. I honestly almost didn't finish it and debated on returning it. I'm gonna do a hot brown and see how they throw down on THAT. If that sucks then screw it, never coming back. We shall see.

Large menu of sandwiches with soups and salads. Omnivores raved about the big brown burger and other sandwiches. Interior is really cramped (small restroom with a shower!) and interior seating is very close together. We sat on the back deck and there are many tables scattered throughout the back yard which was great. The food came out in due time. I had a Mediterranean wrap sans feta spread that was really salty -- could not imagine it with feta! The olives and vinaigrette were enough. It was still tasty (I finished it) yet one of only three vegetarian options. I think my main issue with this place is that a sandwich, chips, and a drink will run you $9+ and their baked goods are pretty pricey too. This place is past a very small downtown area of Versailles, a few miles off 64, very remote. I think their prices are steep for the location. Despite these factors, this place was popular. We arrived at about 11:45 on a Friday to a line out the door. A good mix of locals, travelers, and high school kids seemed to be stopping in for lunch. I would visit: if you are an omnivore, if you are looking to sit outside on a great day and take a break from driving through KY. I won't be making it a priority to be back, though.

Always try to make it to Wallace Station when I head out to Keeneland or a UK game. The Hot Ham and Pimento Cheese is the sandwich to get and the deck in the fall and spring is perfect.

Stopped in after a Woodford Reserve tour. It was about 1pm and the place was packed. Ordered the bean soup---A-mazing! The best I've ever had. I would have taken some home except the line was out the door even when we left. Truffle fries were a special side --upscale option for a "general store" style cafe. Atmosphere was just perfect: white wood plank ceiling with old schoolhouse lights, booths that don't match, brick floors, bustling kitchen. Charming! Desserts looked amazing, but I did not try any. People had on their riding outfits...just what you'd expect for an off the road restaurant right in the middle of horse country. Would love to drive down again & try the "famous" burger or inside out hot brown!

Like others said, I really wanted to love this place but it did not bowl me over. Overall the food was good and I would say the staff was kind of snotty which really surprised me. My husband enjoyed his Reuben and I got the much talked about grilled ham and brie. It was ok but the mustard was way overpowering and the apples gave it a texture that I did not like at all. The bread might have been good on it's own but it as a grilled sandwich with very wet ingredients it was almost disintegrating. It was very nice looking though and the dessert case was too tempting not to try. We got a brown butter brownie and a cheesecake brownie. Both were "OK". A high end grocery store bakery does a better job in my opinion. There were other sandwiches I would have gotten if I had known about the mustard and the texture. They had bottled beer. It was freezing inside and the bathroom was by the back door so it felt like it must have been 50 degrees in there.

Out here visiting mom and nephew from Calif and prior to flying out saw the place on DDD Guy Fieri. Took a wonderful drive and decided to take a look. We were lucky it was 1 pm since when we first arrived the outside tables were full. Ordered the Original Wally Burger and the Sammi's Pimiento Burger with chips. We split both and they were great. Nice people working and so friendly. Also all of the customers were great and all very nice. Front door being old had troupble on occasion opening and a nice older lady helped us. I watched and she did this about 5 times for others. So much different then the vibe in Calif! Probably go again before we leave.

So I saw Guy Fieri eat what looked like one of the amazing sandwiches every created at Wallace Station and quickly rerouted my trip from Colorado to Boston so that I could drive through Kentucky. I have to say, it was worth the extra miles. This place was not easy to find, so if your Google Maps tells you you're there when you're sitting in front of a random ranch, give them a call. It's in an old, drafty house, and run by funkier people than I expected in the middle of nowhere in Kentucky. We got the Hot Brown burger and it really was awesome. Just a hot brown with the cheese sauce on a really juicy burger. Simple and delicious. If you're driving down I-64 through Kentucky, it's worth a stop.

My parents and husband and I headed to Woodford Reserve for our first pilgrimage on the Bourbon Trail. I researched Triple D restaurants in the area because my husband and I love the show and try to eat at as many of them as possible when we travel. Wallace Station sounded more tempting than the other options in the area, so we drove 18 minutes through beautiful Kentucky country to the converted diner. My Garmin found it without any problems. We arrived at 2 pm, which meant we were able to order and get a table with minimal wait. My husband and I split a Hot Brown Burger because the one they sampled on DDD was so huge. We ordered an extra side of pickled cucumbers, which were written on the white board, but really confused the cashier. My parents ordered the Inside-Out Kentucky Hot Brown and my mom had the veggie sandwich (I can't remember the exact name). The burger was rich, as I expected, but not nearly as large as the one Guy tasted. I'm not a huge eater, but I was still hungry after eating my half. The burger was missing the tomato and lettuce for some reason, but I didn't want to complain. I think it would have helped the burger have more flavor. The mornay cheese sauce seemed like it had been sitting all afternoon (again, it was 2 pm when we got there) and was cold and thick (amost curdled?). My parents enjoyed their sandwiches, but indicated that they wish they had split something. The sandwiches were MUCH larger than the burger. It's a cute place, very affordable, and everyone working was extremely nice. It's worth a stop if you're on the Bourbon Trail, but not worth a long drive just for a Triple-D joint.

We have been looking for a orginal (non chain) restaurant for about 4 weeks. I have been told by co-workers to check out this place. It was our first time at eating at Wallace Station and we loved it!!! The food, service and atmosphere is excellent. They hand make there burger patties and the desserts are delicious. We have finally found our favorite restaurant in the Frankfort area.

Biggest breakfast sandwich ever. And the cookies were delicious. This was an all day breakfast.

A little removed from the beaten path, this place is a gem of a find. The hot ham and brie was heavenly, and the hot brown was like thanksgiving in my mouth. Cute, quaint, and clean with friendly staff and fast service, this was a great stop on our bourbon trail adventure!

Had the Inside Out Hot Brown- shared it, actually. It was good and filling. Potato salad side was too mayonnaise-y for my taste. The dessert case was hugely tempting and difficult to choose among. The lemon bar was a tasty choice. A good stop if you're on the Bourbon Trail.

Found this place on DDD. You can see the tv review on flavortownusa.com . 4 Different sandwichs, three different visits, liked in the following order: 10 points JAREDINO'S CUBANO. One of the best ever. Panera Bread Chain has nothing on this one. Home made thick sliced bread grilled perfectly on the Panini press. Buttery and toasty with a generous amount of pork ham swiss and unqie fixings for great texture and flavor. 8 Points INSIDE OUT HOT BROWN. Turkey and ham. Same bread and texture. Mornay sauce is most excellent adding a nice creamy, tasty flavor. Delicious!!! 8 Points OL KY GRILLED HAM & PIMIENTO CHEESE. Home made pimenro cheese sauce is the best I ever had. As above panini's were this one also grilled to perfection. 6 Points SAMMI'S PIMIENTO CHEESE BURGER. The scrumptious pimiento sauce makes this great. But at this place I have to give the thumbs up to the panini's Service was friendly and helpfull about the menu. Note to RVer's. I was wellcome to fill my fresh water tank. One of DDD better food finds. HIGH RECCOMMEND 5 * * * * *

Had the Reuben and the Hot Ham and Brie. Both were $7.95 I think and were served with chips and pickle. Sandwiches are very large and are a good value. Both sandwiches were delicious and we took half of each sandwich home to the kids.

Wallace Station never disappoints. I've been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, their country ham biscuit is a meal in itself. So delicious. For lunch, their country ham and pimento cheese is wonderful. Can't go wrong with their reuben either. And don't miss their fried chicken special on Monday nights! My only gripe is that the seating inside feels a little cramped, and it can be quite hard to get around and order, get drinks, etc. when the lines are long. A solid 4, almost a 5 if they could handle the crowds a little better.

Been visiting Wallace even before the Triple D nod. Always great food. The bon-Bon is unreal! Cheesecake brownie a close second. Pricey, maybe, but IMO worth every penny. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that my last visit for a to go order was a tad frustrating. Several people behind me got their food before mine was ready to go. It was crowded and I wasn't on a schedule plus I knew it would be worth the wait. :-). If I could do half stars it would be a four and a half. Also appreciate that they sell a few different types of beer.

Cute diner on Kentucky backroads. Lots of picnic tables and even horse shoes and a field out back. Could totally see bringing kids here to run around while you eat. Enjoyed my hot brown sandwich (though nowhere as rich as you might expect for a hot brown sandwich), Ale-8, and smores bar. I'll be back!

You must stop here for some good Kentucky southern hospitality and yummy sandwiches. It's located inside a great old building too. Very freindly staff who will drop a "sweetie" and "honey" for this northern WI gal. Makes me feel like my grandma may have worked here. :)

First, I had no difficulty finding this place--if you're using a GPS it should be listed as in Versailles--I drove here from the north--I-75 to New Circle Rd to the Old Frankfort Pike exit, then west about 9.5 miles--it was right there all by itself about 0.3 miles before you reach Rt 62 (used to go this back way into Keeneland years ago, so the first part was familiar) You order at the counter, then someone brings it to your table. Saw the Guy Fieri stencil and signature on the wall from DDD, so I decided to have the decadent Big Brown Burger same as he did--it was decidedly different and a little messy but good--the ham gave it a different taste. Had 2 soups--bean soup was so-so, but the chicken mushroom soup was wonderful and very homemade. Had a SMALL serving of redskin potato salad that was great. Also a corn cookie (kind of like a hollow sugar cookie)--unique and different, also a ginger cookie. DW had some sort of chicken salad sammitch. This place does a few different things and is good for a nice midday repast. I figured if it was run by the same folks as the Holly Hill Inn, it was worth a stop, and I'm glad I checked it out. Maybe nothing to write home about, but still unique and interesting. Scope out the outside deck seating in good weather.

Very local, community atmosphere, small number of seats inside, but a large patio outside with picnic tables is also available. All sandwiches and burgers come housed in sliced, fresh baked bread, baked on site. The muffins, scones, and desserts are crazy huge and delicious. Burgers were good, but if you want one dressed, order one that lists the fixin's on the menu. I ordered the "nearly famous" cheeseburger and it came out just as described, two slices of bread, meat and melted cheese. If you go on a Sunday even close to lunch, be prepared to wait. Line was still out the door when we left at 2:00.
