My daughter and I detoured from our outlet shopping excursion for lunch. Since the food court selections didn't appeal to us we desired to give the Latin Asian fusion a try. We each ordered a tsunami combo with the cucumber salad. My first complement is that this is not at all the type of food we'd expect at this venue and secondly we enjoyed our food enough that we would return to the outlet mall again because we enjoyed the food. I think this would be better received in a more metropolitan area like Louisville, but I was pleased to find a more interesting food offering in Simpsonville, KY. The service on the day of our visit was pleasant and efficient.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while as I love the fresh, tex-mex type of food. My boyfriend and I went a few days ago and we both ordered two different types of tacos. He got one with chicken in it and bit into his taco and saw that his chicken was raw in the middle. All the pieces of chicken were raw. He spit it out and we told our waitress. She seemed very concerned and asked if he wanted another taco. He was so disgusted at this point that he lost his appetite so he said no. She notified the manager and she came to talk to us and apologized. She took all our food off the bill, which was appreciated. We were very disappointed in our visit and probably will not be returning. I just can't accept somewhere that sends out raw chicken. That is very dangerous and unacceptable. We will be dining elsewhere in the future. So just a warning if you decide to eat here, check your chicken to make sure it's done before eating it.

First time dining here. Very impressed. The variety of flavors was really good. I was able to eat vegan and left satisfied. Highly recommed. Ask for Page.

The ONLY place worth eating at these outlets. Delicious tiny tacos, and the rice bowl I tried last time was really fresh and yummy, too. Our servers have always been really friendly and accommodating, and the manager is a nice guy, too! Highly recommended.

First visit to the restaurant. I understand this is the first location in Kentucky. All I can say is I wish it was closer to my home. The food was very tasty, fresh, well portioned. Thai-Latin fusion included flavored of Korea, Jamaica, Asian, Central America. The menu is small but offers a varied taste selection. Service was prompt and pleasant. Prices are very very reasonable. Worth the trip whether or not you want to shop at he outlet stores surrounding it. Hope to see more locations sprout up!

Very fresh and different, taco Asian, wonderful flavorful, not enough chicken and veggies.

Really bad. First off the "Made to Order" Guacamole. We asked that it be made without cilantro. We were then told that couldn't be done because the Guacamole is "pre-made", which to me means, not made to order. We got the queso dip to start instead. The chips were stale to the point of chewy and we obviously got the bottom of the bag since the basket was 50% crumbs. I got the Pacific Rim tacos. They were decent but VERY wet and watery. Literally poured out when you took a bite. Same with my wife's tofu tacos. Her tacos also listed shiitake mushrooms as an ingredient but they were not on the tacos. Absolutely will not be back when we come to the outlets.

My boyfriend and I visited taqueria tsunami the other day and we didn't know what to expect. Destiny was our waitress and she was great. Gave excellent service and was very sweet. The food was amazing too! We're definitely coming back soon!!!!!! :)

This restaurant was recommended by my stepdad, and so we tried it. We order the queso which was alright very small serving, a little bland from others I've tasted but not bad. Then came the food: I had the Shanghai shrimp salad and well it was a salad and you can't messed that up, I was satisfied but the rest of the family was not. My husband's chicken quesadilla was beyond salty, he mad an attempt at eating them until the saltiness was way too much and he just couldn't, my boys did not like the tacos but they were ok I suppose. My sister had the steak quesadilla and she said the steak had a funny taste definitely not to her liking. We had like 3 waiters wait on us kinda confusing as to who we should tip. The restaurant was not packed at all on the day of our visit so we were shocked that when some new customers were seated right across from us that the table was dirty and they cleaned it while the customers were already seated. Overall not everyone's food was bad but I would say it wasn't the greatest, service was mediocre reason for my two stars.

Went to Taqueria Tsunami for the first time Saturday. The floors were filthy... Actually sticky in addition to lots of debris. Lots of staff standing around and sitting at a table in the back openly discussing how much or how little they made in tips that day. Tacky... Even for a casual dinning establishment. The hostess was disinterested and seemed put out to seat us. Took a considerable amount of time for our server to approach our table and when she did she barely acknowledged us. No eye contact, no greeting. The food was tasty but left underwhelmed with the lack of service and unfriendly atmosphere. Managers/owners - clean your floors and your wait staff!!!

Ran out to the Bluegrass Outlet for some quick shopping and decided to do lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find a sit down restaurant with a patio as we had our furbaby with us. We ordered a bowl and a taco special. Good food and quick service and there patio was in the shade. Overall a nice place and we will do it again.

Generally I like fusion type restaurants, but this one has some things that are strange. It is Asian-Latin inspired food which means many Asian type meats and sides in a taco. I love tacos! (Who doesn't like tacos?) For food I recommend the mahi mahi taco or the bulgogi taco. Both were tasty. We also had the Asian nachos which we got with the bbq rib meat. It was different, but still tasty. I thought it needed some extra heat so I asked for hot sauce. Now comes for the not so good, we ordered the queso and it was decent, but the tortilla chips were the oiliest thing I have put in my mouth. It literally coated my tongue with this cold cooking oil and it was very off putting. But the cheese itself was good. I ended up using extra fried wontons from my Asian nachos to eat the queso. I wasn't expecting much in the way of service, but I was pleasantly surprised. While I did have to ask for things, the server was nice and quick to get what I needed. Two things on the menu that made no sense to me: hummus and couscous. If you are at the outlet mall, check this place out, it's worth it just to try something new.

Taqueria Tsunami is a nice place to eat if you're at the outlet stores for a few hours. The Aloha Tacos have a great flavor. Everything tastes fresh, except some of their chips are oil laden and not crisp. Know that a side order of chips and salsa is enough for two people. The patio is a nice place to sit, eat and people watch. Service was fast and friendly.

I was worried when I met a friend to shop and have dinner out at the outlets that our choices would be Bob Evans and fast food. So glad we found this place instead! The food was great and we loved the sangria, too. Such a nice option for dinner or lunch!

Went on a Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. Waited five minutes to even lay eyes on a hostess. There were at least 9 clean, open tables and we were informed there would be a wait. We left.

I generally think of the stretch of I-64 between Louisville and Lexington as a place where there's nothing to eat but fast food and gas station grub, but this place is worth a pit stop even if you're not up for shopping at the outlet mall. Tacos were really good. Two of us got four different tacos, all creative flavors and fresh ingredients. The tortillas were pretty legit and the sides were good too. Our server recommended that only one of us should get chips and salsa and she was right, a LOT of chips and salsa come with one side. The jalapeño tots were, as the kids say, super dank. Service was great, friendly, helpful. A few of the menu items are marked with a red cross to indicate that a portion of sales from those items is donated to natural disaster and tsunami relief. The social aspect of sustainability is often overlooked so I admire them for this. I'll definitely keep Taqueria Tsunami on my radar next time I end up at the outlet mall or need to make a pit stop for food in this otherwise desolate stretch of interstate.

Out shopping, figured we would try this place. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Still early and not busy. I tried an appetizer, the beef empanadas. Comes 3 to an order. ($7.50). There is also a Thai chicken and a Korgi BBQ Short Rib empanadas, but they were out of those since my first choice was the short rib. The empanadas were really delicious. Would also be nice to see a sampler version so diners could try all 3 of them. Kids had the Queso ($4.50). Kids enjoyed it, to me it didn't appeared to be hot(temp), more like warm. Was a smaller dish, probably the size of a cup of soup. My main dish was the Garden Shrimp Quesadilla ($9.00). The chili lime shrimp had good flavor, but didn't have that 'pop' I was anticipating, but was still a good dish. Kids had a chicken quesadilla ($8.50) and chicken enchilada bowl ($8.00). Both enjoyed their meals. It was a delight to have Paige serve us. She had the answers to my questions and always had a smile. Just makes dining much more enjoyable when service is wonderful.

Pros: 13 different tacos to pick from, 3 of which have proceeds to benefit tsunami victims; Shrimp Tempura Taco and Pacific Rim Taco were tasty and perfect at fusing Asian and Latino flavors together; queso was on point and chips were not too salty; Asian nachos were yummy- wantons instead of traditional chips - one of the best bbq style nachos I have ever had Cons: salsa was not good nor chucky - skip it all together; side salad was nothing special and the santa fe ranch was far too spicy to enjoy it Overall, I will be going back to try the other tacos

I was not expecting much from an Outlet Mall restaurant but we all enjoyed the inventive tacos and appetizers and the wait staff was great. First off we had our grand daughter with us who had missed her nap. She was fussing and our waitress could have been impatient with us but she was very pleasant and took great care of us. We chose to sit outside, it was shading a a bit cool which I liked. Also that allowed us to people watch and there are all kinds of interesting people walking around the outlets. She made an order mistake but quickly corrected it and was appropriately attentive without being too present. Now to the food, I'm sure if we were in Lousiville on Bardstown or on Franklin we might have found something with more original items. However, I'm really not too hard to please and liked everything we tried. Our order Pork empanadas and dipping sauces and avocado egg rolls with dipping sauces. All four of us liked these dishes including our two year old grandaughter. The empanada was a little plain. Some of the sauces were too hot for my wife and daughter, while our son-in-law who likes really hot food likely found it ordinary. I had three tacos; Thai chicken taco 5 Stars - I wished I'd ordered more of these Pacific Rim fish taco, lightly sweet, really tasty and fresh - 5 Stars again Short Rib taco 3 stars, no big deal. My wife ordered the short rib Quesadilla, it was sweet and had sauteed onions but was too rich and needed some contrasting vegetables or cabbage. She liked it but could not finish it. I had a wedge and the first bite was fine but I thought it was too sweet. Would we go back? Yes, far better than the stinky food court and generic mall food.

It's really cool that our outlet mall has a restaurant instead of just a food court. I decided to visit with an empty stomach which led me to Taqueria Tsunami. For the appetizer, I decided to get the Empanadas(with Kogi BBQ Short Rib). Wow! Honestly we could have ordered 4 orders of these & been satisfied. My only complaint about this menu item is that you only get 3 Empanadas. There should at least be 4 for 2 people. While they're tasty, 7.50 for 3 of them is pricey. There should be 4 in an order or the dish should be 5-5.50. For my entree, I decided to go with 'The Quatro.' This dish consists of 3 tacos from their list along with a side. My side was the Jalapeno Cheese tots. They were okay. Regular tots with jalapeno cheese sauce on the side. The Tacos: -- Thai Chicken Taco: Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, sesame seeds & drizzled with Thai peanut dressing. I liked it but it wasn't my favorite choice of my 3 tacos. -- Pacific Rim Taco: Grilled chili crusted Mahi topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, & hoisin lime aioli. Having never tried Mahi, I wasn't sure what to expect. It was good, but it tasted similar to fish. It would have been too dry to eat if the lime aioli wasn't on this taco. -- Aloha Taco: Grilled teriyaki chicken, topped with pineapple, pico de gallo, & spicy mayo. This was by far my favorite. Like pizza, if pineapple is available it's on my taco every single time! There wasn't a wait to be seated. My only complaint was our young waiter. You could tell he was newish. Our food came out fast & he didn't hover which is great. The problem was not keeping an eye on us. The main issue? When refills were needed & waiting for the check. Maybe it was a random time where he was on break & he wasn't around for a while. It still contributed poorly to the experience. Overall, it is a place I'll visit again while shopping. There are quite a few tacos on their menu to try. They also have quesadillas, salads, tsunami bowls, and desserts. On my next visit, I'll be ordering the Short Rib Quesadilla(Short ribs, Kogi BBQ sauce, grilled onions, & Mexican Cheeses). If this was not in the outlet mall, I'm not sure if I'd ever visit. This is the perfect restaurant for the outlets. It's also the perfect restaurant for travelers on I-64. The only other sit-down restaurants in that area are Culver's & Bob Evan's(don't even get me started on these). I've struggled with determining what to grade this place. It's a 4 or 5 for outlet mall eats, but overall it's more of a high 2 or 3. For that, I have to go with 3 stars.

I thought Asian-Mexican fusion sounded good so thought I'd try it out. The food was incredibly boring. I had a Korean beef taco which had no flavor at all, and was just a piece of unseasoned meat lying on a tortilla. The Hawaiian chicken taco I had hopes for, but it felt like it had been microwaved a few minutes earlier. My side of "black beans and rice" was just a tablespoon of black beans from a can poured over a cup of plain white rice. Their salsa honestly tasted like water. All-in-all, it was easily something I could have made at home. I don't know if they were just phoning it in that day or what, but I see no reason to go back.

Awesome guacamole. Love the lighter fare and super tasty. Especially enjoyable sitting outdoors on this mild summer day.

It started off rough. I think they were a bit understaffed the day we tried it. Once the food got to us it was all better. The food was fresh and had a great flavor and style. I recommend try the Asada Zing taco. A very unique style of food. I think the Mexican Asian concept is working for them.

This was surprisingly good! I did the pick 2 tacos plus a side. I got the shrimp tempura taco and a chili lime chicken taco with rice and black beans as my side. We also shared an order of the nachos. Instead of tortilla chips there were fried wonton chips. The food was tasty but not heavy/rich. It reminded me of Qdoba. Would definitely come here again.

I highly recommend visiting this place even if you don't want to shop at the outlet mall. Such a great atmosphere. The food is fresh and full of flavor. I crave their rich mans taco. Yum!!

I give it one star only because the food was palatable after waiting an hour to get in and then another 20 minutes for someone to realize we were there. The menus do not have the drinks listed but luckily we had that 20 minutes of sitting in the booth to imagine what drinks they might have. After the meal was finished I was ecstatic to be able to take some of the food with me on my leg and foot since the waitress spilled some all down my leg when delivering the food.

The gourmet taco craze has hit the new Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass. And considering Taqueria Tsunami was the only sit-down restaurant that I saw in the new outlet mall, I'm happy that it's a place that has lots of options, is yummy and is quick. On the opening weekend for the Outlet Shoppes, my boyfriend, his sister and I decided to make the trek from Louisville. And understandably, shopping almost to the point of dropping makes one hungry. We first tried the food court, which had a handful of walk-up food counters and very long lines. And then we spied the door for Taqueria Tsunami. Unlike the long wait we found at the other food stops, we were able to immediately get a table at TT in the covered outdoor section. We started with guacamole and chips, which needed a bit more salt but were still good nonetheless. And then the tacos arrived. There are close to 15 taco options (all $3.50-$4), along with salads, quesadillas, starters and desserts. I ordered a shrimp tempura taco, which also has Asian slaw, cilantro and hoison-lime aioli, and an Aloha taco -- grilled teriyaki chicken, pineapple pico de gallo and Sriracha mayo. The soft tortillas were average size, but they were definitely loaded with filling. The different flavors of each ingredient worked well together, mixing spicy and sweet. After two tacos and a side of the cucumber salad -- the $8.50 "Tsunami Trio" combo option -- I was adequately satiated, which for mall walking means no longer hungry but not full to the point of slowing one down. Maybe it was because it was opening weekend, but three different staff members came by to make sure were were content with our food and service during the meal -- I appreciate the care. I very much wish TT was in some of the malls in Louisville. It would be a frequent stop. But it's safe to say that when I'm out at the Outlet Shoppes, I'll be grabbing some tacos from TT.

Our server was Paige. She was an amazing server! Very friendly, very nice environment. This was our first time coming here to eat, and I WILL be coming back. The food was absolutely delicious. All staff was very friendly. Every time I come back to Simpsonville, I will be stopping here to eat!!!

I've been to this restaurant twice, once when it first opened and then today, a year later. My first impression of this restaurant was that it was interesting with fresh, tasty food. However, the service was extremely slow and not great. I chalked that up to the restaurant being brand new. However, today's experience was very similar. The guacamole fresco was delicious, but the chips were mediocre. It took a while for the guac to come out, and even longer for our entrees. My chicken enchilada bowl was delicious, and my friend ordered tacos and cucumber salad, which she enjoyed. Our waitress was incredibly scattered, and other tables were complaining about the long wait. At this kind of a casual dining restaurant in a shopping center, everyone wants to sit down, eat a nice meal, and be out and back to shopping in a time manner. While you'll get a nice meal here, it will not be a quick and painless experience.

For what it is, Taqueria Tsunami is very good. While most outlet malls only have a food court, the Outlets of the Bluegrass has a sit-down restaurant with Asian-Mexican fusion cuisine. I met a friend here recently before an afternoon of shopping. We were greeted quickly, and seated promptly. As an appetizer, we ordered the edamame. It was still in the shell, which we expected, but was covered in some type of chili seasoning, which we weren't expecting. In the future, I would probably ask for it without the seasoning, and then just flavor it with some sea salt on my own. For the main dish, I thought of the Shanghai Shrimp Salad (recommended by my server) and decided on the last minute to order the Tsunami Trio. This allowed me to try the Asada Zing and Pacific Rim tacos, along with a side salad. Of the salads, I know that the Pacific Rim has gotten rave reviews, but I liked the Asada Zing best. They were both good, and the salad filled the little spot in my stomach left for the last small bite. The meal ended with fortune cookies for each of us, and was followed by some good luck at finding deals.

I was slightly excited to see that there was a restaurant in the outlet shops instead of having to eat a fast food meal. We sat outside which was a nice option so I have no clue what the interior looks like. The food was good but it was like fast food restaurant style...if that makes sense! Te guacamole was delish, served on a plate which was weird but whateve's. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla and it was nothing special, like nothing. Lots of cheese and canned corn with a few bits of shrimp. Blah. My husband had the mahi taco and a shrimp tempura taco which he said were good. So there you have it a split review. Try it and make your judgements!

When I showed up to this Latin-Asian Kitchen I had very high expectations and hopes. We started out with the chips and salsa and it was delivered fairly fast. The salsa had good flavor but tasted like what you would get at any other Mexican restaurant. We then ordered our tacos. I ordered 2 Mediterranean filet tacos, and the individual that I went with ordered 2 as well. It took around 50 minutes to receive them which is very long for just 4 tacos. When we received them, the food seemed a bit cold on top of the wait time. The filet tacos had an interesting sweet Asian flavor to it. Considering the wait time, the coldness of the food, and the average and non-fulfilling flavors it gets 3 stars out of 5.

This is absolutely the most inefficient, poorly ran, dirty restaurant I've ever been too. The servers took 10 minutes to even come to the table, acted high on drugs, & didn't check on me even once. There was a slime under the table that got on my clothes for lack of cleaning and the food was terrible and actually caused me to vomit shortly after. The food also took 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen. DO NOT GO THERE. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. I also think my server, Kelly, needs a drug test.

Not what you're expecting from mall food, in a good way! Discovered this place with a friend when went shopping at the outlet mall. It had a nice sit down area to eat apart from the rest of the chaos of the mall. The waiter was super helpful when he learned it was our first time there. His suggestions and descriptions were spot on. I got the Asian nachos and my friend got the avocado egg rolls. The Asian nachos were yummy, filling, and only mildly spicy just as the waiter promised. If you're getting the egg rolls and you're really hungry I suggest getting two orders or ordering something to go with it. The portions on those were great for a snack but not for a full meal. Definitely want to go back for the guacamole dip! Saw another group order and it looked awesome.

Well, I'll try this place again once they get their liquor license and are fully staffed. I tried to grab dinner with friends last Friday but our service was awful and after 3 attempts to give the waitress our order, we decided to leave just as a manager saw us and asked how everyone was going. We explained the situation and left. The menu sounded tasty. They only offer flour tacos but the waitress said they offer 'lettuce wraps' for those with food allergies. **The Shoppes of the Bluegrass does not currently offer the food options we would expect to find, or like to see offered, at an outlet mall. It's early on so hopefully by the holidays more options will be available. Even a Starbucks would be spectacular; after all everyone needs an extra kick to fully experience all that is an the Ultimate Outlet Mall Adventure!

I would give a zero if I could. My husband and I stopped here for lunch and well let's just say we are still hungry. We were seated outside for 15 minutes at least and no waitress ever came by. We finally decided to head to Louisville and eat. When we left the hostess who just sat us told us to have a great day ( even though she probably could figure out that we didn't receive service).

When I went in to eat after a little shopping I found the service to be a bit apathetic and uninterested until I sat down. My server however was very sweet and friendly, the rest of the servers moving throughout the restaurant weren't as upbeat. I noticed a combo with two tacos and a side for under $9 and thought it sounded good. I asked when I came in how long they thought it would be for one person to get in and get out, I was told about 20 minutes... that's about how long I waited for my entree. It went by relatively fast as I was playing on my iPhone but I think it is important to note. I sampled two different styles of tacos for my combo and while they were small in size, they did taste fresh and had good flavor. I was disappointed with my side of rice and beans. It was pretty small and I felt like for being such an inexpensive side dish to serve, it should've come in a bowl larger than the 4 or so oz. cup I was given. I also sampled a few desserts, both were ok, nothing spectacular but about what I expected. For what it's worth, TT is a good place to order some tacos and have cool beverage while you shop. I think if I go back I'll try a different side and the Asian nachos as I was told by several people, they are very good. I think it's safe to say it's the best place to eat in the mall for folks who want to skip the food court.

The first time we visited here, the food and service was great. However, this time it was like we were eating at a completely different place. They were having an issue with a to-go order and it seemed to take 3 people to figure it out. We stood there as staff walked by, and neither the hostesses nor manager would even make eye contact. We are patient and didn't mind waiting, but it would have been nice to have been acknowledged. We ordered chips and queso- neither of which were warm, which to me is not acceptable. Our food came quickly but it was not really warm either which made the flour tortillas kind of stiff. Over all I think it is just okay for the price of the food. When I pay four dollars for a taco which is about a dollar a bite, I expect it to be fresh, hot, and substantial. Not something I will rush back for anytime soon. I hope they work these issues out because it really does have potential, but it is too expensive for mediocre.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
