I must have missed something, because this restaurant was not as good as I expected from the reviews. The salad was very ordinary and I had the prime rib with the risotto. The presentation was boring to say the least, and the prime rib was just OK - nothing i would order again. It had a very smoky flavor and I wanted medium rare and it was not the least bit pink. I sent it back and they said because it was smoked it would not be pink. Risotto was disappointing. and mushy. II guess I should have ordered something Italian since all the reviews re the Italian dishes were very good. I thought the price paid was entirely too expensive for the location and the food.

My son got his first job there, and he loves it. I always tease him that it's too much to pay for noodles, LOL......but I have to admit the atmosphere is great, the food is really good, and the staff and owners are very fiendly. (It IS too much to pay for noodles, though.) LOL. ;-)

Niko's is a cool mix of Italian & Mediterranean. I have met the owner and his wife and they are super nice and they are from Greece. But, they can make some damn good Italian food. I think their greek background allows them to put some non-traditional spins on classic italian. For lunch, the Panini's here are outstanding. A half order is usually a good size for one meal. Same with most items on the menu. I like the Italian sausage panini but to each his own. Salads are also good. But, the coup de gras are their daily soup specials. I had a seafood bisque here that was out of this world. They added a touch of curry to it that blew my mind. They change them every few days and the soup + a half order panini = amazing lunch. For dinner, this place totally changes the menu up and starts to up the game a little bit. Start with the Stuffed Shrimp or Tabasco Shrimp. They're outstanding! Then for dinner you get a great feel for the effort their put into their ingredients. They actually get fresh fish flown in from Alaska daily so their menu and specials change all the time. This is why it's fun to go back, you never know what's on the menu. I would highly highly highly recommend this place as I think it is the best place to eat in Owensboro. Good ingredients, nice people, classy place, it all adds up to a great meal. A must hit in Owensboro. Niko's, gracize mille por il cibo!

I ordered a calzone that was served cold in the middle. Upon sending it back I told the server I was in no hurry, please don't microwave it. It was brought back to me in 3-4 minutes unbelievably hot and obviously nuked. The dough on top the calzone was hard as leather. The wait staff was great but a big no-go on the food.

The appetizer sampler was ok but the black pepper filet was outstanding. 5 stars if I'm just rating that dish. Not sure the the menu is 5 star but I was very happy with the meal. Service was a little slow but there was a table of 20 next to us. Really no complaints.

I fly in for work every week to Owensboro from CA. This is by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten in, in the entire country. The family that owns this place really makes you feel welcomed, and provides exceptional service. I wish I could recommend one dish to try here, however, I have multiple favorites! The pizza, calzone, shrimp, cod, salmon, breadsticks, paninis, ciabattas are awesome. Also try the Al Tabasco sauce! Excellent place for any occasion! It is actually the BEST place in Owensboro!

Tried the Sicilian Cheese steak. Greasy, but that's how these are supposed to be made. Pasta is authentic. The owners have prepared a menu that extends above Italian, great selection of high quality food, many of my co-workers raved about this place.

I'll give it 4 stars for the first trip. I kept it simple though. I had the Cuban spring rolls that were very good for the appetizer. Had pizza for the entre. It was good, but a little more expensive that I expected.

Hi All. New to the area, but this is my favorite so far. Top notch all the way. Quality ingredients, fresh fish flown in daily. Service is above expectations, I visited while on a visit for relocation, a month later my server not only remembered my name, but what I drank. I can't say enough nice things about this place.

I had the Ahi tuna and my father had the Tbone. Needless to say it was some of the best I've ever had. Our waiter was excellent. Knew the menu and specials like his ex girlfriends Facebook page. He earned my 50% tip, no doubt.

The food was awesome and our waiter (Mike) was top notch. Mike may be the best waiter I have ever had! You can tell they go the extra mile for super high quality ingredients. The worst thing about this place is there are so many choices and it all looks really good. Expensive, maybe, but given the variety and quality of the menu, maybe a good value. The wine list was extensive and moderately priced.

Call me biased (I used to work here years ago) but I have always loved the food. So delicious. Prices are pretty steep though so be prepared. I love taking my friends and girlfriend here when I can afford it.

Came here with a colleague when in Owensboro on a business trip. From the outside it looked empty and we drove around the building before getting the courage to go in...and we were glad we did. We were expecting a glorified pizzeria, but found a rock solid Italian restaurant with very good pasta. My friend had the pasta puttanesca and I had the Siciliana penne and both were outstanding. I didn't get penne, but got the fresh papardelle pasta which was fine (and homemade). I opted to pay the $3 for the extra chicken on my dish and it was excellent. The salads that came with the meal was a bit on the oily side (we asked for a balsamic vinegar dressing), but the pasta was really good. I had a mixed drink, my colleague had a beer....two pasta dishes, total bill was $60 (including tip). As someone who travels a lot for business, when I find a good place, I am compelled to review it. And this was a good place. They have a VERY extensive menu with a lot of fish and steaks....we weren't starving so we stuck to the pasta.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
