I've had dinner here twice now... Both times have been top notch dining experiences. The waitstaff is very helpful - especially in assisting with wine selections. They make it a treat to visit. And the food.... This place is as good as, if not better, than some of my favorite restaurants in any major city in America. Menu changes daily and seems to have a balance of sea and land options. Though I've gone seafood both times and it was amazing. Hats off to Bill and his crew.

Best place in Owensboro to eat. Bill is the best chef for far and wide. We've been going for the last 4 years and Every time we go the food is awesome and the service is the best. Once you try it, you'll keep going back.

One of the best restaurants in Owensboro, KY. Reminds me of a place you would find in a big city. Food is nicely presented and most importantly tastes good. I like how Bill's experiments with a variety of dishes to keep the menu fresh. I've brought several co-workers here and this is one of the places they will make an effort to stop in when they are in town.

Just finished a great dinner of chicken breast with house made goat cheese. Hap had the scallops. Both were perfectly prepared. It's been too long since we've been here and we will be back again soon

I got in late to town, was starving and wasn't expecting a lot. I travel the country for business. I can honestly say that I haven't had a meal that good in a loooong time. I lucked out. It was 3 degrees and I was one of two people who wanted/needed to eat out that night. The waitresses were awesome and so hospitable. From their craft beer selection, to the wine selection (by the glass) I was not expecting such variety. Bill also came out of the kitchen and was extremely friendly and truly LOVES pleasing his patrons with his unique take on food. They change the menu daily! His take on Surf & Turf was crazy and amazing. If you go when there is snow on the ground, ask for their dessert menu**.....DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS HIDDEN GEM!

Just had a wonderful dinner here. We recently ate at a highly acclaimed southern restaurant in Nashville, and this place beats it in every way. Let's just say, this meal was worth every penny while at the other we had our doubts. We had the Grouper Cheeks Rockefeller, local pork chop with green tomatoes, grits, and veggies with a red eye gravy, and chicken marsala. Everything was amazing and rich, but not overwhelmingly so. We don't get grouper in California nor fried green tomatoes, and we have no idea why because these were highlights of our trip so far. The grouper was light and complemented the creamed spinach perfectly, while the fried green tomatoes brought out the best of the rich pork. The waitstaff was friendly and the courses were well timed. Overall it was an excellent and enjoyable experience, will definitely return next time we're in town.

This was my second time eating at Bill's. It was as fabulous this visit as it was in May when I was in town last. I started with the Smoked Fish Spread that was delish, it was followed by some melon in blackberry and lime juice (very refreshing), a house salad with creamy dill dressing and the main course- shrimp and grits. My dinner partner (mom) had pork belly that melted in my mouth when I tasted it. Even though we had eaten WAY too much already, we were urged by another patron to have the peach cobbler. It was definitely a worthwhile choice-local peaches and a crust to die for. I highly recommend Bill's. The service was attentive, but not bothersome, and my glass of pinot hit the spot. We will be back next time we pass through Owensboro!

Took a day trip to Owensboro and had already tried the usual touristy restaurants in the past (i.e., Moonlite, Old Hickory Pit). Wanting something new, I wandered in to this restaurant not knowing what to expect. Apparently I was fortunate enough to get the last table that was not reserved, as others were being turned away as they arrived. To get a taste of everything, I decided to try the 4-course dinner, which included a Portuguese Bean and Kale soup, a house salad with apricot vinaigrette, Tunisian Mahi Mahi a la plancha with flavors of sumac, harissa and tahini, and a pineapple savarin for dessert. Every bit of it was wonderful. The salad served as a sort of palate cleanser between the rich, low-country pot-liquor flavors of the soup and the exotic North African flavors of the fish. The generous portion of the savarin was a nice ending, a sort of heightened pineapple upside-down cake. I would recommend this to anyone visiting this area, and encourage the locals to support this place and keep it in business!

Hands down, the best food in town. As a native of Owensboro who has resided in Los Angeles for the last ten years, I can attest that Chef Bill could hold his own against even the likes of Wolfgang Puck's restaurant Spago. I did not expect to find food of this caliber in my hometown. Simply superb!

Atmosphere nice. The food was awesome. Ate there last weekend. Shrimp and Grits rocked! No need for a salt and pepper shaker on the tables, everything was perfectly seasoned. I could eat there weekly. Better have reservations!

Bill's is our favorite restaurant to eat at in Owensboro! We always come here with our daughter and though there is not a child's menu, the chef has several dishes that he can make for small children. We have never been disappointed, every dish is delicious and unique! We had dinner here last week and we ordered the red curry beef soup as appetizers. It was amazing! It tasted so authentic and the chef was spot on with the heat (it may be too hot for some people, but I loved it)! I got the shrimp and grits and my husband got the scallops with potatoes. We enjoyed every bite of our meal! If Bill ever makes a suggestion, take his advice! His specials are always delicious!

So happy to find a restaurant like this in Owensboro! Fresh, quality ingredients, great wine selection, and good vegetarian options. CALL AND GET A RESERVATION. Nice ambiance, the room itself is nothing fancy (nice B/W photography), but very unpretentious and knowledgeable servers. Great salads, mussels are excellent, and even the sides are great. The food is the focus, and it's very obvious.

The only real fine dining in Owensboro. I arrived a little early for dinner but they unlocked the door and let me in anyway. The place is a little small but inviting. I had the pork chop which was very good. Turns out they get their meat from the local butcher locally raised all organic ect. The sides were original and creative. The service was extraordinary. Pricing may seem a little high for Owensboro but very reasonable compared to a larger city. Keep in mind you get what you pay for and will not find food of this quality prepared this well anywhere in town.

This is by far the best restaurant in Owensboro and I would put it up against any Nashville eatery. Chef Bill is a culinary genius without any of the stuffy ambiance you find at other top restaurants. The ingredients are always fresh and innovative. Seriously good eats. Seriously.

Went there for lunch. Chose the Roast Beef / Bleu Cheese Panini. Never again, Bleu cheese was very strong. Fries were good. Overall for a roast beef sandwich and fries, 9.77 (even after discount) seemed a bit steep. Hamburgers aren't much cheaper. Haven't tried the burger, if I come back, I might. Service was polite, but a bit slow. I didn't get a refill of my (small-ish goblet style glass) cola until I was practically finished eating. They're doing the iPad thing which is neat but I can't help but wonder if that's part of why the cost is a bit steep for what is just a sandwich and some french fries. I tried to add a tip, but I guess it only calculated what I should type instead of applying it, so now I look cheap. Overall, not bad. I may be back but only when I have extra money. $10 for a lunch is a little too steep for me to be a regular. I don't make enough money to enjoy that kind of luxury with any regularity.

Liked the menu with different takes on more traditional items. Food was really good. Nice atmosphere. Definitely would go again if in the area.

Loved this place! The wife and I were in for the holidays and celebrated our 5th anniversary there. Let me say that this is the kind of place you usually don't find in Owensboro. I did a four course menu of perogies, salad, mahi mahi and cheesecake. Everything was excellent, ambiance was great, and service was quick. Highly recommended, we will return when we come back to Owensboro.

Had nice appetizer of humas. Service was good. Beer slection small, but has some nice microbrews thrown in. Had the Haddock & filet surf n turf. Both were well cooked. My buddy got the blueberry & peach cobbler for desert which he loved.

The best restaraunt in the region by far. Aside from a dinner menu that featured sea bass, rainbow trout and filet all prepared with fresh incredients and wonderful aromos, bill also acommodates vegetarians and vegans. Being a vegan, and loving to travel, I have eaten all over. Bill's vegan and vegetrain dishes are amongst the besat I have ever had. The prices are very reasonable and down right cheap compared to larger cities. And for the cusine, flavor and location, it is real home run.

Fab-u-lous! Great meal. Excellent wine selection. Some of the best mussels we have had outside of San Francisco. The menu is fresh and varied - you wont be disappointed. Way to go Bill!

I have been looking for a restaurant like Bills since I got stationed in Owensboro 3 years ago. The staff was nothing but nice, and very knowledgeable about every menu item. The food was cooked perfectly, and i am very picky about my seafood. For an appetizer we had the conch fritters, and the calamari. I have been all over the Caribbean and have never had calamari with that much flavor. For dinner I got the scallops which were also cooked perfectly. The chef was also very friendly, he came out several times to ensure our food was to our liking. The prices are not bad at all for the quality of the food. The atmosphere was great there were no TVs, and it was not loud, an excellent dining experience to say the least. They also do the orders and payment by the Ipad. I will be going back at least once a week for my remaining few months here, and I hope everyone in Owensboro can appreciate the quality of this food.

Virginia Flounder, Oysters, crab cakes! All were excellent. Nikkie took very good care of us. Atmosphere on the quiet side. Easy for quiet easy going conversation. My guests were very impressed! I'm only here for a day but will be back, and visit Bill's, later this year!

I asked for the Chilean Seabass prepared In a masala curry sauce. Since I like spicy I asked the waitress to "make me cry". Little did I know they'd be tears of joy. My meal started with the house salad with homemade blue cheese dressing; smooth creaminess with the characteristic blue cheese bite. When my entree came I pulled off a piece of my perfectly cooked fish and was met with all the spice and flavor I could ask for. Excellent! I ate all the dish and sopped up the spicy masala sauce goodness with the artisan bread. To cap it off I ordered the creme brûlée for dessert and got to savor the seductive taste of vanilla paired with the toasted sugar such that I found myself reminded of the taste of perfectly roasted campfire marshmallows that just melt in your mouth. I also enjoyed their song selection playing in the background. Very impressed. I'll be back-

First, a disclaimer. I rarely can indentify the ingredients in a dish. If I am blown away by a dish, I ask for details. As was the case with this dish. We each started with a cold asperagus bisque, with tomato puree, and pistachio oil. Soothing to the body and soul. Main course, we both had the Icelandic Turbo. I'm not sure I've had Icelandice Turbo before. It had a delightful fleshy texture, not too fishey but neither was it bland. Absolutely wonderful. It was very lightly fried (when dining at Bill's, I never taste the heavier taste that I associate with fried). It was prepared with aged sherry vinagar, ramps, pearl couscous, and bits of bacon. These flavors blended together perfectly.

Delicious!! Been here twice now and every time it's awesome. Great service, great drinks, casual atmosphere with amazing food well prepared and very tasty! We started with fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, along with Grey Goose Martini's. Entrees were - flounder with shrimp étouffée, and a sea bass with coconut and lime sauce (spicy)......MOUTH ORGASM!!!! We highly recommend this restaurant. An awesome gem in Owensboro.

Visited Bill's for the first time last week and was very pleased with everything about the experience. The interior is decorated very well, the service is pretty good, and the food was excellent. The calamari dish was to die for! For my entree, I had the Virginia flounder. Very well prepared and tasty. They have a fairly extensive wine list, went with a Zinfandel, but I can't speak to their cocktails or beers. Bill's is a keeper.

All I can say is YUM! My husband took me here for my birthday last night and what a good place he chose! The service was friendly, and the owner was actually out in the restaurant talking to patrons. The atmosphere was perfect. The dish I ordered was amazing. It was light and healthy, but oh so good! It was a Chilean Sea Bass breaded in panko pine nut crust. It was served with a spicy, tomato-based sauce on the pasta and green beans. We will be back!

Our meal and experience could not have been any better! The waitress was wonderful, accommodating my request for something off the menu and suggesting the perfect wine. My sea bass, scallops were perfectly cooked, my husband 's meal, salmon was wonderful as well. Bill, the chef made time to talk and visit with us, artist at work! Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fine seafood!

Omg just had one of the best dinners I've had in a really really long time. My server Stephanie was awesome she was super friendly and attentive- I was dining alone so this made my experience so much better. I am visiting Owensboro from CA so I wanted to try a new southern style dish- had never tried shrimp and grits so I went on a little adventure downtown and found that only Colby's and Bill had it on their menu. I decided to go with Bill's and I am SO glad I did! Ok so I had the starter salad with the apricot vinaigrette, followed by the shrimp and grits, and for dessert the peach cobbler. All were delicious. I literally had to force myself to stop eating because everything was so good. This is my second visit to Bill's during a visit in town and will definitely be coming back here when I return to Owensboro. Highly recommend this place.

Bill's is awesome. I rarely ever get salads when eating out but I had heard some great things about the Cobb and it did not disappoint. Generous portions of Avocados, Chicken and all of the good stuff. Also served with some great cornbread biscuits. Waitress was wonderful and attentive to our needs. She also was thorough in explaining the specials and made recommendations that the other people in my party were very happy with. This is definitely one of the best spots to get a good bite of food in Owensboro, KY.

The place was as good as the reviews suggest. I was alone and no reservation and a couple tables were set for large groups. Bill said I could be seated but there was a reservation in an hour on that table. Alone an hour is plenty so I was happy with that. I had the Thai shrimp and halibut. Bill asked how I liked the spice on a scale of 1to 10. 7 was pretty good though could have gone a bit hotter. No complaint though, it was a 5 star dish. Well spiced and the green bean side was tasty too. I got the Italian cream cake for dessert. When the server asked how it was I told her a little dry though I did eat most of a pretty big slice. She comped it which surprised me. Very nice!! I'd definitely go back. I walked from the Hampton but there is lots of street parking right out front. EDIT. Went back in January, still 5 stars. The thai shrimp and halibut were not on the menu but the snapper was outstanding. This is just a great little place.

Been here twice now and I'll say it is simply amazing. I love Charleston SC cuisine and Bill's attention to detail and balance is amazing. Also such a value for the quality you're getting. I highly recommend this place as someone who travels for a living I get to try so many different places. This is tied at the very top of that list.

I have now eaten at Bill's twice. My food has been excellent both times. The atmosphere is quiet and mellow and the food is reliably high-quality. Bill must have a real understanding of flavors and how to combine them.

I took my wife and youngest daughter to eat at Bills. This restaurant is perfect for date night. The atmosphere was very nice, quiet, and personal. Bill greeted us and welcomed us to the restaurant. Elizabeth was our server. She did an excellent job taking care of us. The oysters were great and also the salmon was exceptional. We can't wait to come back.

THE BEST VALUE!!! I have allergies and they put together an amazing sea bass dish that fit my needs and the dish was wayyyyy underpriced. Awesome food at the best price on the planet and my waitress was as good as they get. I can't wait to go back.

I've had the absolute privilege of dining here during numerous business trips and I have never been disappointed. If you love fine cuisine in a very nice setting with great service then Bill's is the choice hands down. The dinner selections are varied and exceptional but you can't say you've really had a good meal until you try The Chef's Table and let Bill cook up some of the best courses you'll ever have. He will design your choices to you taste buds and the experience is unbelievable!! Big City Dining in a small Midwestern town. What a gem in Owensboro!!!

Nice place for lunch. My wife and I were looking for local fare while in Owensboro and we ran across Bills here on Yelp. We decided to have lunch. It was very tasty. She had a generous sized hamburger and side salad. I had the tuna sandwich with fries. The fries were not the highlight of the lunch, but the tuna bacon sandwich was very good.

Best place to eat in Ownesboro. Love this place when I have to travel to KY. Everything I have had off the menu has been superb. I especially enjoy when they have the Hanger Steak. If you see it on the menu or as a special, definitely try it. The staff is always friendly and fast. Great value for your money and the chef knows how to make a dish flavorful.

I am a gluten free vegetarian, gluten free because of an allergy, vegetarian because it's my choice. It makes finding a restaurant extreamly difficult sometimes. I often do a lot of calling ahead to make sure I have something to eat before I even sit down in the building. So when I saw Bill's Restaurant online back on April 23rd, I saw they had a Wednesday special of Sweet Potato Black Bean Burrito, vegetarian but not gluten free. So I called ahead of time to see if they had corn tortillas they could substitute. When I spoke with the lady on the phone she knew right away they didn't have any. She put me on hold to go speak with Bill in the kitchen. As I waited on the phone I feared I'd have to find somewhere else to eat lunch that day. She came back a few minutes later to say that if I didn't mind waiting a half an hour, Bill would go to the grocery store and buy me some corn tortillas so I could eat the meal! I gave her my name, and we looked forward to lunch. When I got there I spoke with the waitress and explained our situation and they sat me down at a table reserved for us. After my husband ordered we didn't have to wait long before we got our orders. Instead of my Sweet Potato Black Bean Burrito being in a large gluten filled tortilla, it was wrapped in 3 small corn tortillas, beautifully arranged with a sauce and pico de gallo on top. The flavor was great and very filling, and we made sure to leave a nice tip! I was so happy with my experience with them, it was so nice to know they would work hard to please someone who has so many food needs. I will be coming back again next time I'm in town!

Fantastic option in Owensboro. As a native of Minneapolis, I have been looking for a place like this offering scratch cooking from fresh (and in some cases) organic ingredients. Menu changes daily so come often! Also, Elizabeth made me one of the best Manhattans I have had! Will be going back while I am here!

Wonderful small restaurant in downtown Owensboro. Chef Bill Hughes knows his stuff. I had a splendid bouillabaisse that was perfect. Really excellent fresh sea bass, shrimp and mussels in a fennel and saffron broth... Bill's has a nice wine list featuring an excellent assortment of wines from Europe and California with service by the glass or bottle. His menu featured quite a few new takes on Southern cuisine favorites like shrimp and grits, etc. But the most special thing was Bill's friendly atmosphere, great service and fresh ingredients, many locally sourced. It's definitely worth a visit and repeat visits if you're in the area.

Decor is the best in Big O, Bill suggested a few items which we willingly accepted and they were delicious, I had shrimp and grits, excellent although I wish he would get more daring with it and spice it up a bit, my wife had the fluke which was very good! Potential to be Big O's Best, and may already be ! This was our first time, will not be our last!
