This place is a classic. Always great food and service. Wish I could say that I try lots of different things from the menu but I can't. However the three things I eat are wonderful. Plus they reheat well because they are large portions I never can eat it all. The fish tank is fun for kids to watch. Who am I kidding? I watch them too. The bar area is separate and the parking is easy.

In an area where there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner, I think the food at Mi Pequena is much better than the average. I had the chicken taquitos, rice and beans and a complimentary bowl of bean soup that was offered when we ordered. It was all delicious. Service was fast and accurate. The bathroom was immaculate, which I always think of as a clue to the overall cleanliness of a restaurant. So...I'm happy and would gladly return.

For Mexican Themis restaurant is pretty good probably one of the better ones in town. The service is always fast and you can get in and out quickly if you want to. Let's face it though a Mexican restaurant is a Mexican restaurant that all offer the same food same quality same everything, which is why I give it four stars, there is nothing unique about it. I do like going for the great service, the manager is a great man and he has a warm greeting and adios! Also sometimes he brings sample sauces around for you to try ;)

Second best Mexican restaurant around. I ordered the pork tacos with a tamale and cactus. I loved the pork tacos came with rice as a side. With was different to me. Though it was weird the tamale came with sauce on top but I've had places do that. The cactus in the tacos made it so much better! The drinks were a little too strong for my liking. I mean I understand people sometimes want strong drinks but the average person who goes to places will order more than one drink if they can't taste the liquor. Sadly that was one of two fall backs I had about this place. I didn't know they had outside seating till we left because know one asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. I still think this place is pretty awesome and will come back for the food.

Wow. Very impressive place. Service was friendly and efficient. The chips were premade, but the accompanying salsa was very flavorful. That's a challenge, since it was very mild (because most Kentuckians don't tolerate any heat). I requested "salsa mas picante," and the waiter returned with not one, but two delicious and truly spicy salsas (one red and one green). We ordered fajitas Cozumel (beef, chicken, chorizo and shrimp). They were out of this world, and each meat was fantastic, and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were really good, and the meal was accompanied by truly handmade corn and flour tortillas. There was more food than two big men could eat, so I know what's for lunch tomorrow. This place goes on my list of the best of the best Mexican places. I will be back again and again! P.S., They also had perfect freshly brewed unsweetened iced tea. I think I'm in love!

This place us pretty awesome. The owner is always super helpful anytime we are there and the customer experience is always wonderful. The food is also great. Go early on weekend night's as there are always a ton of people there and can get pretty loud. All in all best Mexican food around.

Love Mi Pequena!!! This is my first time at the Nicholasville location and it was a great experience. My date and I shared beef tacos, beef nachos, pork empanadas, and we left with a ton of leftovers and big fat food babies. Love the staff, love the quality of the food, and love that I always leave incredibly satisfied!

"Great good, great service, great management. My family eats there once a week and always leave happy! It's easy to see that the owner, Julien, cares about his business, his customers, and his employees."

It's fresh.... They try. It's ok. The enchiladas were a huge disappointment!

This is probably the best place in Lexington. For Mexican food. I've always had strong reservations with the many Mexican restaurants that are available around town and so far this is hands down the best place I've ever been to in this area. First let me start out by saying that the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The wait staff was very attentive, and they always came to the table asking if we ever needed anything, refilled our drinks and brought us things without even asking for them. Second, the menu is very expansive there are many different dishes to choose from and a lot of them have a text mex type of feel to them. We were very impressed with the many options and the new feel of them. Most Mexican establishments just copy and paste menus, this place stands out by creating their own options. Dinner: Mucho Grande Special: one taco, one enchilada, one tamale, one chalupa, chile relleno, Mexican rice and beans. This dish allowed me to taste some of what I consider the staples of restaurant tex mex. I received a crunchy taco which was in fact crunchy ( if you eat beef, get it with the shredded beef it's amazing). The enchilada was cooked really well not to mention that the sauce is fresh and well seasoned. The tamale was great as well my beef was surround by a corn bready type of mixture, it's exactly what I expected. The chalupa was big and delicious. The chile relleno was great as well, it was breaded and filled with queso type of cheese. Most of the place the relleno is just a greasy mess, this was cooked really well with a bit of crunch from the breading and not a ton of cheese. Finally the rice beans were amazon as well. The rice was soft and pillowy and well spiced, while the beans were cooked well and spiced as well. I highly recommend this place, I definitely will be returning again. Everyone needs to try this place at least once.

This was the first visit my family had at this restaurant...not impressed. I've have my share of Mexican Food and Margaritas. It was buy one/get one which we noticed on sign when we walked in. Our server never mentioned and brought us each one a piece. I've had my share of Margaritas and I seriously believe there was no Tequila in the one I had. My husband also thought the same. I ordered a Pacifico after the Margarita....still no mention of BOGO. The food was okay and service prompt. Our Server asked how everything was, and we mentioned the Margarita. She muttered that she could give it to us for free. We said it's okay...still no mention of the Buy one get one or offering us our extra possibly stronger Margarita that was supposed to come w/the special. Honestly, I didn't really want another one anyway b/c the first tasted like salty dishwater/Margarita Mix combo. Maybe it was a bad batch/night. I may give it another shot in the future....

Fantastic restaurant! Phenomenal food and atmosphere. The fish tacos are the best I've had outside if Mexico and the owners truly care about your experience there. Do yourself a solid and eat here real soon!

My seafood burrito was really good! My wife's combination #5 would have been better if they would have switched one of beef enchiladas for cheese as ordered, but not a huge deal. Very nice service.

The food at Mi Pequena Hacienda is certainly palatable, but my overall experience at the place was a far cry from the 4.5 rating that this place currently has on Yelp. Some highlights from the experience included a member of the staff donning a McDonald's t-shirt while on the clock, a revelation from our waiter that they don't serve alcohol on Sundays despite a massive sign out front highlighting 2 for 1 margaritas on Sundays, and the subsequent discovery that a member of our party was double charged for their meal. Needless to say, I'm glad I don't live in this hacienda. Food: Mi Pequena Hacienda is a local chain restaurant that specializes in casual Americanized Mexican fare. Menu offerings include standard offerings such as quesadillas, salads, enchiladas, fajitas, and burritos, as well as a few novel chicken and steak offerings. I started with an order of the 'white cheese dip' to go along with the complimentary chips; unfortunately, the queso wasn't served hot and it congealed shortly after arrival. For an entree, I opted for the Taquitos Mexicanos with chicken, which was accompanied by rice and refried beans. The taquitos were nearly devoid of chicken, the corn tortillas were soggy, and the rice and refried beans were among the most bland I've ever tasted. Service: Friendly, but glacially slow and not particularly competent. Nearly half the waitstaff seemed more preoccupied with watching a sports event on the TV than with tending to the customers. We requested that the check be separated three ways, which the waiter readily obliged and delivered in only a few minutes. However, when it came time to process the payments, it took well over 10 minutes for him to return. The following day, one member of our party discovered that their card was double charged. Atmosphere: Casual with little frills. The interior consists of several small rooms with both table and booth seating. The clientele during my Sunday afternoon visit was mostly larger groups of younger adults. Cost: The portions are generous and consistent with the prices. Appetizers are around $5-$10, while entrees are around $8-$12. A 17% gratuity is added to parties of six or more. Other: Mi Pequena is located toward the back of the Brannon Crossing Shopping Center. Hours of operation are 11AM-10PM daily. Also, I found it odd that the menu included a disclaimer that the restaurant was "not responsible for personal items that are forgotten or stolen in the restaurant". I can' certainly understand why a restaurant would include such a disclaimer, but it probably could have been worded a bit more eloquently - the use of the term "stolen" leads me to believe that they've likely had some issues in the past.

Pleasantly surprised! I was thinking that this was going to be another run of the mill Mexican joint. I was pleased with how clean this place was. I love the fact that there were fresh tortillas being made right up front. I'm usually not a salsa snob, but wow, their salsa was great. My only critique is that our waitress was a little distracted, but the rest of the staff made up for it. My food tasted fresh and was definitely better than most Mexican joints in Lexington.

Our family has eaten here at least 9 or 10 times since they opened a couple of years ago. It's close to our house and on the way home from church. A win-win. At least sometimes. Our first couple of visits were excellent with very good food for the price and great service. Unfortunately the last 3 or 4 visits have been less than memorable. The food is still quite good (my chile relleno this last time was terrific) but the service stunk on ice. Our waiter was polite but seemed to have a hard time multi-tasking...not good if you're a server. After he dropped off our food we barely saw him again. He came to the table next to us several times but never once glanced our way even when we tried getting his attention. All we wanted were some straws (that he forgot to bring the first time and said he was going to get. Wrong!) and an occasional refill. We're not picky, I swear it. Wanted to order some flan for dessert but could never get our waiter's attention to order it. After 5 or 6 minutes of trying to flag him down, we finally were able to grab the manager to ask for a couple of to go boxes and the check. I've been holding out hope it would get better but the jury is still out.

Mi Pequena is my favorite for Mexican in town. I prefer the Brannon location because it's larger closer to my house than the one on Lansdowne. I love the Seafood Tacos! I get the shrimp tacos but I order the shrimp grilled instead of fried. They don't list this option on the menu but it's available. I prefer grilled and it's a bit more diet-friendly. You also get a choice of corn or flour tortillas for the tacos. Get the corn tortillas! The servers don't ask, and if you don't specify, you'll get flour. The only complaint I have (other than the fact the serve Pepsi products) is that their salsa is a bit inconsistent. I don't like hot salsa (I know, I know it's salsa it's supposed to have a kick) and it's always a 50/50 chance on whether or not the salsa will be too hot for me. If the salsa is too hot, we order the queso though so it's a win either way:)

Is the food good? Yes, it's good, but nothing to write home about. I really don't see what's so special about this place or why it's always packed. I've had far better mexican food a mere 30 miles away in Richmond. I have visited this establishment a handful of times, and each time it's been exactly the same. FAR too many people to get any kind of decent service, and botched party room reservations. Parking also sucks, so be prepared to park on the little street across from the main parking lot. I don't imagine I'll ever fancy returning here. I can't see myself craving mediocre mexican bad enough I would tolerate the substandard service I've received THREE times in the past. After asking to speak to the manager (whom I know), the staff brought out someone who clearly WAS NOT the manager on two seperate occasions.

The staff here is really nice and they handle large groups with grace and efficiency (we made a day-of reservation for 14 people and they didn't miss a beat). The service and food are both hit or miss though. We've had great service at times, but not always. The most recent time we came (last weekend), it took 40 minutes to get our check and the restaurant wasn't busy at all (our server was covering 2-3 tables total). Some of the food is well-seasoned while other items are often bland or just "off." The Monterey Pollo sounded good on the menu, but was actively bad. Really nice people and a good location, but I wish their flavors and service were consistently better.

Food was good, but not worth the wait. This was the slowest day and the worst service our family experiences. We sat down at 5pm and didn't get our food until after 5:35pm. We were out the door by 6pm. Mexican dining should't take an hour. Not impressed with the service this time.

Always a great time. The owner always does table visits to make sure our experience is Awesome not just the food. I recommend getting the Diablo Margarita, simply Amazing when you order it with fresh lime juice and mix. Great portion sizes you will have to take some home for leftovers. Always a clean restaurant and friendly staff.

My husband and I ate here for dinner. I had spinach flautas with rice and beans. Excellent taste and presentation. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. The flautas were served with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream on the side, along with rice and refried beans. It was a large portion, plenty of food. It was not overly spicy, and an excellent choice. We will definitely come back!

Excellent chicken fajitas at lunch. Salsa was some of the best we've had as well. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly owner, and great staff. This is a great option between Nicholasville and Lexington. Convenient location as well.

My favorite Tex-Mex spot in Kentucky. Hands down, I literally eat at the one in Brannon crossing at least 3-4 times a month.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
