Was up all night writing and got hit with a hunger pang that screamed "breakfast" so, I checked for what would be a great place to eat. Yelp recommended Sis's on Monmouth so, 6:45 in the AM, off I go. (I live nearby so...) First off, the place felt welcomey (is that a word?) and the service was very pleasent. My order was quite inexpensive and downright delicious! Looking forward to getting dinner there with the wife soon. Thumbs up, Sis!

I like Sis's. It's another local favorite among those in Campbell County. They've done some renovating and expanded the dining room to accommodate a stage area for when a band plays. They have a full bar. And of course they allow smoking. My least favorite thing, the smoking. But if you're in the mood for cheap food, drinks and possibly some good live music, stop by.

Great place for a cheap breakfast. Unlike Gourmet Chili next door and Pepper Pod down the street, this place is smoke free inside.

Underwhelming food. Friendly staff. Interesting environment. Review details: When: Lunch Why: Team outing What: Burger (dry, uninspiring) Other peeps got breakfast but didn't hear anyone singing praises.

Great breakfasts and fast, attentive service. Not a bad venue in the evening for various musical acts.

I have been to Sis's Family Affair several times for breakfast and lunch over the years. Food has always been good great service and low prices. Just what I would expect from a well run long term family business. So last night wife and I thought it might be fun to go have dinner and hear a Johnny Cash tribute band Folsom at Sis's. Not sure how live music and dinner could mix in a place I remembered as being a tight space.for both. We were pleasantly surprised to see the enlarging remodeling that has been going on. We arrived during the warm up band found a table in a place that was comfortably full where we could hear the band and have some conversation. As usual our waitress was very attentive and the menu is comfort food and price friendly. I took the safe road with roast beef gravy w/ mashed potatoes. Both were excellent the owner stopped by to check on us as did the Johnny Cash singer making us feel special. We had a great time for $20 including tip. The non smoking atmosphere was also a pleasant change since I was last there. We are already planning a return visit several of the upcoming bands are very good this is an up close and personal place to see a show. Kind of reminds me of another favorite in Cincy Arnolds. Music good great service. Plus I read about the Beef tips and onion in another yelp review that I need to try!

My family and I ate there on a Mon. Morning and they had a good rush going and still the staff was very attentive. We got drinks quickly, our food arrived just as quickly and was delicious! Our total bill for two adults and a child was less than $20 and we left with full bellies and food still on our plates. Great place to eat!

My aunt recommended this place to me. I went over to her house for dinner, and she called ahead & ordered from this place. Of course I had to pick it up. While I was there waiting on our food I looked at their menu and noticed that they are extremely cheap. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner and you can order the breakfast at any time of the day or night, which is awesome! I ordered fried chicken, broccoli, and salad and it was like $6.00 and change. Though the portions were pretty good for the money, I didn't care much for the fried chicken. It was too crispy for me if that makes sense. My aunt and uncle however got the same thing and they really liked it. As for the service, it was pretty good and the staff was polite & friendly. I'll have to update this review once I actually eat in the restaurant, which I definitely will for the all day cheap breakfast food alone. I haven't tried it but it's like 3.60 for eggs, toast, and meat... and it doesn't cost anything extra for goetta! The fact that they have goetta is awesome, and the fact that you don't have to pay anything extra for it is even more amazing. Again, I'll edit this review the next time I go back, but I have a feeling it's going to go up a bit. =)

Had a good time watching the music of danny frazier. Also had the chicken liver dinner it was great. I see a few people have slammed this place with some not so great reviews. I have no idea why people care about decor. But I loved the place and the food.

I'm not sure how many stars this place deserves. The atmosphere is different every time. The food is nothing special. The fries are my favorite. It's pretty much an old timers place. Most people know one another. The music is mostly country and love songs, but it is rocking "so loud". It's got to be difficult for the wait staff. There are usually two waitresses for the entire room. I can't hear the person next to me much less the waitress. The presentation of the food is great, but, not so tasty. Anything with ground beef is gross. I hate when there are those grisselly pieces in my meat. I guess the best two things I've had there is the grilled pork chops and grilled chicken. I will say, it's a great place for beer and appetizers and music, if you like it loud. The mixed drinks really aren't their thing, but they have got pretty much all alcohol that comes in a bottle, they also got some new wines. Stop in for a drink and some entertainment most every night. The good thing is they are open late and they serve food till they close!

This place is definitely one of those "ma & pa" restaurant. They've got a decent selection of wines and beers. But what I really loved about this place is this blue grass band that plays on Tuesday nights. The meals aren't "extravagant" or "fancy" - they feel like home cooked meals- something that I would go home and eat. Very well priced. Good portion sizes. The wait staff was very attentive and extremely kind. The only thing that I didn't like was their blueberry cream cheese bread pudding- it was cold and hard. But as soon as I told them- they didn't even ask questions, they just offered me another dessert. I had their chocolate meringue pie instead- needless to say, it was amazing!

I came in here over the weekend to see a friend play there. Before I write this review, let me just say, I wasn't sure what I was to expect, so I'm still not sure how I am supposed to feel about the place. With that said, here's my raw reaction. Right on Monmouth, Sis's is close to everything else, and doesn't look like much from the outside, and isn't much more on the in. Trust me, I love my dive-bars, I find myself at them more than nicer ones. It's a large open room, which is cool, but not much as been done to the interior. I dunno, I guess I somewhat expected a little more "decorative character" from an old place that has been there for years. I went to order a beer and was a bit disappointed to see that they had the basic of the basic, and nothing more. Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller, Coors. End of story. Not everyone gets into the crafts (or even Corona), I get it. I might just still be sore at the look I got from the bartender when I asked if they had PBR. They have tables randomly set up throughout the room, so we grabbed us one and watched us some music. It's just a very average drab Pepper-Podish place.. Which would be cool if it were the Pepper Pod, but it isn't. They have a bar, live music, and lists of events that go on during the month. Therefore, I would expect a little more.. effort on their part to make the shoe fit the foot (proper use of that analogy? sure.) I'm not mad at the place, I just have no reason or desire to return unless it is to support a musician again.

Ah, Sis's... Newport's other beloved greasy spoon diner. Walking in, you can definitely feel the old school eatery with yellowish decor and hardwood. With breakfast served all day, folks come here to satisfy their eggs n' bacon cravings. I've had the opportunity to try some dinner items which outshines the breakfast. My most memorable meal was sauteed beef tips with peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The meat was tender and juicy, seasoned to perfection with fresh veg. I've also tried the baked catfish, which was savory and fell apart in my mouth. With delicious blue plate specials, Sis's serves up affordable home cooking you'll come back for. The only downside: it's a smoking restaurant. Nix the tobacco and I'd give Sis's four stars. Price per person: $8.00

1st time at Sis's and I was pleasantly surprised. The outside of this restaurant from the street is dramatically different from the inside. Don't be fooled or scared by its rough demeanor. The exposed bricks and beams inside was a pleasant surprise. Pictures of Cincinnati's past adorned the walls. Stopped in on Wednesday night to see Scotty Anderson and Band. They were very impressive. Don't be surprised to hear the Eagles, Glen Campbell, Elvis and other great guitar riffs from them. Granted this type of music draws an older crowd. But all were welcome and joined in on a great laid back atmosphere. Now to the food. The food was great! I had the rib dinner. Only 12.95 with 2 sides and bread. Buckets of beer are 5 for 9! How can you beat that with live music. Amazing. The menu is geared to traditional family favorites with wholesome cooking. Sis's is also a hopping Breakfast spot. Being that I have a love for the breakfast special at Gourmet Chili right next door, it is going to be hard to try it. But after this great experience I think I will certainly have to go back. What a surprisingly cool Gem in Newport

Sis's doesn't have the best food in the world - it's standard good ol' boy fayre - but it sure shines with its marvellous service which is almost old fashioned in its approach. Every customer is "darlin" and nothing seems too much trouble. The food comes out hot - if sometimes a little too smothered in gravy - and represents terrific value for money. Two people can eat and even with drinks you'll be hard-pushed to worry a $20 bill. They've removed smoking from the main dining area, consigning those still adamant in polluting the air to the bar area on one side... which doubles up as a live music venue a few nights of the week.

Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a blue plate joint serving what you'd expect, although breakfast is supposed to be better.

I visited Sis's on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend. Although they did not look busy, it took almost an hour to receive our "loaded fries" which were not "loaded" at all (consisted of shredded cheddar cheese and two strips of bacon). My Reuben was just as greasy as my boyfriend's patty melt. We both left agitated by the slow service and by the horrendous stomach aches we both had. On the bright side, the Cole slaw, which is the consistency of soup, was pretty yummy.
