Crazy Fox is my absolute favorite bar in the Newport/Ft. Thomas area. Hands down. Probably in all of Cinci. Admittedly, I'm not originally from KY and have only been around for a short time, but seriously: I love this bar. The bartenders are super great: Elainea, Matt, Adam, and Krista. If you're around enough, they'll remember you and you should remember them. Even though the Fox lists itself as a gay bar, I wouldn't really call it that. It's an accepting, friendly bar that (as the sign says) welcomes people from all walks of life. It's really just a super cool place where cool people hang out without being biggoted against, whether you're gay or straight or something in between, which is apparantly a rareity in Kentucky. They have specials every weekday night, including super cheap well night on Wednesday (I think) and absinthe night on Friday. The beer selection is pretty rad with about 20 bottle varieties and 5 draft options (including a cider) that change out fairly frequently. The jukebox is packed full of GREAT music that I rarely/never see in bars, including Vampire Weekend, Feist, The Lonely Island, Gaslight Anthem and so many others that I can't remember off-hand. The people who patronize the bar are also super cool. Y'know that drunk asshole frat boy who's loud and obnoxious and rude? He doesn't come here. The people at this bar are engaging, conversational and SMART! I've had great conversations with random people in the Crazy Fox and have definitely made some lasting friends.

Any bar that you can walk away from and are too drunk to remember their drink specials has to be a good one, right? My friends and I have been on a happy hour traveling binge lately, trying out a lot of new places in northern Kentucky. The Crazy Fox was on the list and it did not disappoint. With a relaxed atmosphere and good specials, it was just what we needed on a hot summer day. Don't ask me to tell you what the specials were or anything, that's impossible. What I can tell you is that the drinks were cheap and STROOOOOOOOOOONG. Also, there was free pool for most of the evening and the music wasn't half bad. Not your usual jukebox fare that's for sure. The place is a touch small but that made for a much more intimate, enjoyable evening. I highly recommend you go have your own booze-filled adventure there sometime soon.

Great place to chill! We met a couple of friends here on a Friday, the place got busy but the environment was pretty relaxed. When you first walk in you are like "wow! this place is teeny tiny"! But don't be scurred, keep walking, is not the biggest bar but is pretty well laid out, the front room has a bar with a few stools and a couple of tables but keep on walking and you will find plenty of room. They have a pool table, dart boards and a pretty nice patio. The servers are fabulous, very friendly and as quick as they can be. The drink are good and affordable the crowd is laid back and friendly. More importantly the bathroom was very clean with great mirrors. Give it a try!

Walked in and pretty much walked out right away. It's just not our kind of place. The TVs were too loud for being so small of a place. This caused the patrons to be too loud - yelling at one another. Too many people wearing Bengals outfits. Then there's a very off-putting Obama poster on the wall like some weird cult-of-personality Third World leader. The U.S. isn't there...yet. Anyway, who puts a political poster in a bar? Creepy. Very unwelcoming to, say, a little less than half the country.

I love this bar!!! I had my first legal drink here and have kept coming back for years. Its owners are the nicest, the bartender are cool and you can always be sure to meet some interesting characters.

I love the Crazy Fox. The bartenders are always nice and accommodating and it's a great crowd. I especially enjoy that it is non-smoking. They usually have the beers I want and it's a great place to play pool or a game of darts. If you want to smoke, they have a large outside patio area in the back. It is covered year round, I believe. I recently drove by and saw tables outside in the front... I guess I never go there early enough to see these, but I will be dropping back by soon. Outdoor drinking is the best drinking.

I absolutely adore this bar. I've only met two of the bartenders, Gia and Rachel, (sorry if the spelling is wrong:/) but they are two of the sweetest girls I've met that bartend around here. I get extremely tired of the rude bartenders I meet in the Cincinnati area so this place is definitely a breath of fresh air. I moved to Newport at the beginning of the year and this is the only bar in town that impresses me. There's always a good selection of beers on tap and even more in the coolers. I highly recommend stopping in for a drink to anyone that has never been. You will definitely be equally as impressed.

I may be biased because I can walk here but this bar is fantastic. Everyone is super cool and I have never had a bad time here. Free pool most of the time and stiff drinks. They are also dog friendly so I can bring my little guy in there to enjoy some brews with me. They are no smoking inside but have a great patio out back that is heated in the winter months. You can usually find a stranger to strike up a conversation with. They have an old school style jukebox with some awesome cuts. The bartenders are all very nice (especially Emily) and the owners are very cool. I wish they had a super cheap beer option ($2 PBR can or something) but that is because I come so frequently and somehow manage to always drop a good amount of coin. Highly recommended.

My favorite bar! It's laid-back. Mix of gays, regulars and hipsters. The drinks are strong and cheap. The pool table is often free. The owners are great guys and often throw fun events. Specialties include absinthe, bloody marys and a Dancing Bear drink that's full of liquor but tastes like Hawaiian Punch. The only downside is size. On a busy night, the bar can fill up quick with very few places to sit.

Crazy Fox! Where have you been all of my life? I had a relative, bar snob and local-area expert tell me this was the place to go for a little get-together I was having in the area. I wanted something casual or intimate, cheap, and accessible for everyone in Cincy. What I got was a bar that hit it out of the park. Crazy Fox nailed it out of the gate with some really inexpensive and cheap drinks. I was worried this meant they were going to skimp on the quality, but all of my drinks were excellent. I had a chance to chat with one of the bar tenders before the place got busy, and they seemed like a really great business. Dog friendly when it's not busy, good local beers on tap and a really positive and friendly atmosphere. I know this bar is also a big NKU college bar that does some local art shows. You can catch UK games on their TV too, that's awesome. We also had one of the owners stop by and say hello. How cool! Overall I (and my group) had a great experience here. I'm not a huge bar guy, but they really hit all the marks on things that I like. Price, quality, and service. It just goes to show that you can really make an impact on the average guy by doing the basics right. Even somebody that's a novice to bars can appreciate good basics. My only complaint is their lack of food - but I'd rather a place not do it at all, than do it wrong. (Side note, they don't have Guinness. What's that about?)

I would say that the Crazy Fox has some of the friendliest and most creative bartenders and engaging experiences that you'll find in the area. you will not feel out of place in this friendly, neighborhood bar. So come on over, and order their famous Bloody Mary's!

Awesome Dive bar! I love a good dive. You never run into snobby people, the prices are great, the bartenders remember your order, and it's KY so it's smoker friendly. I've only been there a couple times myself, but the stories I hear from that place makes me want to go more often. The owner of the bar has been known to call from home and order a round of shots for the bar. Great atmosphere. I'll go back anytime.

Look. It is what it is, its a bar. Recently they have had a number of updates, which add to the ambiance of the place. I like it. Its a bar, its simple, it has character, its clean. The crowd is a mix. Prices are fair. Good bartenders. Its maybe not a place to try and meet the love of your life, but its a fun casual bar to have some drinks.

Technically a gay bar, the Fox is really just a neighborhood bar with a rainbow flag and a slew of regulars, a great staff and an off the beaten path location. Look for free billiards offered on slower evenings, local artists showcased on the exposed brick of this historic Newport building, local musicians occasionally playing on the weekends and (if you and you're dog are nice) a pooch friendly watering hole. One of the most notable things about this wonderful dive is it's one of the few places around that serves up a genuine (thujone free) glass of Absinthe. If you're a fan of the fey and love to party it's the perfect place.

This is a very cool place. I used Yelp to find a bar where we could throw darts. The owner introduced himself and told me the story that he used to own Roxie's (never been) and bough this. He named Rosie's after his mom and the Crazy Fox Saloon after his Dad. The owner came by and offered all the patrons free jello shots We had several beers and the pool table was free. I had a blast with my friends - we and several other patrons closed the bar down. I will definitely go there again - but we might bring our own darts ;-) Enjoy!

Easily one of the best bars in Newport. Crazy Fox Saloon is a hidden gem of a locals bar tucked away in the south end of Newport's main residential area. Sitting proudly at the corner of Washington and 9th, it is an inviting place that is a bit of a throwback to an era that may have passed. The bar has 4 primary areas, all not particularly large, but adequate. The entry is a modest bar with a table or two. Drink list is diverse, tap list excellent and specials frequent. Bar tenders are ALWAYS friendly. Up a couple of steps is a cozy TV watching lounge. Great place to catch a game or a political debate. Just beyond is a gaming area with pool, darts and pinball as well as a few more tables. Finally, a covered back patio is just out back with a larger amount of seating. Parking is side street, but generally pretty easy to find within the block. The vibe is very friendly with often colorful locals. Crazy Fox has always been known as a strong friend of GLBT community. Often events or gatherings for groups are held there and don't be surprised if the owner brings around Jell-O shots. It's just that kind of place. If your favorite bar has started getting too crowded on weekends, meet a few friends at Crazy Fox for a bit more of a chill evening with good patrons and generously priced drinks.

I don't have a single complaint about the Fox. I loved it from the moment I walked in the door. It is nondescript on the outside and a perfect dive bar on the inside. One of the best jukeboxes I have found in a bar, reasonable (and strong) drinks, and good, friendly bartenders. They have FREE pool! I spent a week in Cincy for training and, if I had found it on Monday, I would have been there every night. Note: they don't serve any food at the Fox but you are welcome to order a pizza and have it delivered.

This is a people friendly bar. My husband tells me they have reasonable drink prices (I had to ask because I never cash out our tab). I have had a lot of great experiences here over the years and probably some that I don't remember. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. I like that they keep pretzels and chips on the bar for snacks. One time, when I was trying to be healthy, the bartender gave me a clementine and some blackberries from behind the bar. Talk about service! They have a pool table, pin ball, and darts. I enjoy checking out the local art that rotates on the walls. The place is non smoking but they have a pretty nice enclosed patio for smokers. The bartenders will fix you something fun when you can't decide what you want (this is how we ended up drinking Scooby Snacks one night). The owner's seem to really enjoy running a bar and on occasion will pass out free jello shots. Also, if you find yourself without plans for Halloween, go to the Crazy Fox for an amazing costume contest and a great time. This may be classified as a "dive bar" but we still stop by for drinks when we're on our way to the Aronoff and we don't feel out of place in our "fancy" clothes. It's a good thing that we don't live in Newport, we'd be there too much. But we'd be awesome at playing pool.

This may have to be my go-to lay-back watering hole around here... as some people say, it's a people-friendly bar: yes, you're welcome if you're gay, bi, or lesbian, but if you're straight, that's just as welcome... they way it should be. Great drink specials, smoke-free inside (patio out back), and some good music playing on the jukebox, and TV's on. As much as I've felt like a gay bar may be my crowd, the Crazy Fox is more of my place to relax (and not come home with smoke-stained clothes!). Also props to the RollerCoaster Tycoon pinball machine in the back. It's also not the type of place the Tea Party may feel welcome (there's an Obama poster in the front area)... but I sure feel at home here.

Having just moved to Newport, my boyfriend and I were looking to find a new watering hole. Crazy Fox couldn't be a more perfect find. With its laid-back hipster clientele, friendly bartenders, and solid music selection, I think we'll become regulars. When we told one of the bartenders we were new to the area, she bought us a shot called the "Newport Apple." When I asked her what's in it she told "It's just like a 'Washington Apple' only with well-liquor, so it's Newport style." That's alright in my book. Drink prices were pretty standard for Newport. On the bar, you'll find sleeves of Trivial Pursuit--which is much more entertaining than NTN, in my opinion. Does it matter that the cards are from 1984? Not in my book. I like having to figure out "What was bigger: East or West Germany?" Oh, they serve absinthe, too, which apparently became legal last year.

I'm gonna start out by saying, I might be biased, in this review... I have gone to the Crazy Fox for... I don't know how long. I don't even want you to know how often I go... Here's the deal on the Fox, it is listed in a lot of places as a gay bar... that is a falsehood, The crazy fox has gay tendencies but I wouldn't call it a gay bar... It is gay owned and gay frequented (? not sure how else to phrase that?) but it is definitely a jar of mixed nuts, with a wide variety of patrons. It's like Cheers with a free bowl of condoms at the end of the bar. It plays softball in the summer, makes it's own costumes on Halloween, collects for the needy in the winter, roots for Obama in the fall, asks after the family when it sees you, and always greets you with a smile. It welcomes all, except your bigoted uncle (and even he can come in if he keeps his mouth shut). The patrons (like me) are friendly, some might say too friendly, you will get talked to, so if you want to be left alone go to the library instead. Besides the great service and friendly patrons, the Crazy Fox has great drink specials almost every day, great beer on tap, great music (the jukebox has some local stuff in it which is a bonus), a great atmosphere, great owners, and great patrons who will welcome newcomers. Overall the Crazy fox is just great. You should turn off your internet or fancy phone and come on down and buy me a drink... or two.. no? Fine just come on down. Tuesday is Trivia Night, which is pretty great, too!

The Crazy Fox Saloon is gay owned and gay friendly but not a gay bar. Daily drink specials include Sunday night draft night with $1.50 High Life, $2.50 Blue Moon, and $3.50 for Guinness, Great Lakes, Christian Morlein, Mt. Carmel, and Original Sin Cider, $2.50 bombs on Monday, Tuesday night import night, $2.25 domestics on Wednesday, $2.25 well drinks on Thursday and Friday is Absinthe night, yes real Absinthe. There is Golden Tee, Silver Strike Bowling, dart boards, and free pool till April, off street parking and a great juke box. Many artists and musicians frequent the bar and did I mention the super cool bartenders?
