After a day of caving and winding through back roads due to a massive accident on the interstate, Mazatlan rose on the horizon like a magical Mexican oasis. The food was phenomenal and I'm fairly certain they had it cooked before we finished ordering. If you're ever in Horse Cave, or even if you're nowhere near Horse Cave, treat yourself to some fantastic Mexican cuisine.

We were hungry and on the road and we decided to pull off and find a burrito. El Mazatlan was the perfect choice. They made completely custom burritos for us. And they even wrapped them in aluminum foil so we can get back on the road. The staff was super helpful. BEST. BURRITO. EVER.

I enjoyed it. Had the lunch chicken chimi. It had nice chicken inside and served with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole and pico. Chimi was lightly, not deep fried. I am from Texas and have had Mexican food all over the states and in Mexico and Prague. This was not Tex Mex. but it was really good. if you go into it realizing that it is going to be different from the Mexican food you have at home, you will enjoy it. I did.

Cheap, good, solid Mexican food. The restaurant is very clean and colorful. The food was quick. The wait staff was polite. Overall a good experience. We stumbled upon this place after going horseback riding and it was exactly what we needed after 2 hours in the saddle!

It is not as good as the Cave City location...but the service is great and alas stone age ideas they are not allowed to serve beer.... Mexican food without a beer is like a day without sunshine.... Way ridiculous!

Absolute gem. I stopped off to get gas after a long day of driving. My legs ached. I hadn't showered in days. All I wanted to do was get home. I glanced over to my left on the way out of town and couldn't have been more shocked. A Mexican restaurant in small town KY? MY people in KY?! Great eats, great staff. 5 Stars? No. 6.

Very nice resturant, great service, prices and food. The especial dinner was more than I could eat and my girlfriend had the taco plate.

Visited El Mazatlan today for the first time. Overall I came away with a very positive opinion. They were very busy but we were seated right away. It took a little while for them to take our order but once they did the food came out fairly quick. The fajitas were really good and when you factor in price, 3 adults and 1 kid for under $40 (not including tip) the value was great.

Stopped on our way to Nashville. I had the fajitas burritos and my wife had the fajitas. Both were excellent with a large serving. Had our food in under 10 minutes from when we ordered. Very clean including the bathroom. Friendly courteous staff. Price was on target for a sit down meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
