Had to go to Mount Sterling for my part time to take inventory of Big Lots and decided to try out this place during lunch. The waitress saw me immediately, to take my to go order. About 10 minutes after, the cook comes out and personally hands me the food. When I had ordered, I thought I would only see my soft taco and enchilada. I was so ecstatic when I saw a bag of chips and even salsa O_O. OMG!! It brought back nostalgia of my favorite restaurant, in my upbringing city of Moorpark, CA; Baha Fresh. They do that too! For that I give it four stars. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because they forgot to give me napkins and utensils to eat my enchilada!! All I could do was eat my soft taco. Ah well, it helped me to control eating everything at once (more health conscious). They probably thought I was fat and so I should wait to get home to eat the enchilada entree. Very generous portion sizes and the price is not bad ($5.66 for all three things). Amazing!!

Awesome salad bar! Great sirloin, ribeye, ribs... Friendly service, quick, efficient. We like it here. Fourth visit!
Mt. Sterling has very slim pickings on where you can grab a beer and some good sit down food. Thank goodness, the Cattlemans Roadhouse pulled into town. It is like any other steak house with the animal heads on the wall and a lot of unfinished wood everywhere. I went here for lunch with my sister the last time I was in town. We opted for the unlimited salad bar so we could not feel guilty as we washed them down with some ice cold beer. The waitress suggested we try the Sam Adams Cold Crisp. She gave us a sample of it and it was on. It was a great wheat beer with out being overly sweet. The salad bar was pretty well stocked and the workers kept it really clean. I was impressed. I will have to go there again sometime when I am in town.
Very typical roadhouse with taxidermy on the walls. What was not typical was their salad bar. It's been a long hot and sweaty day and I wasn't very hungry when we stopped in. Until I saw the salad bar. $8.99 unlimited salad bar! I ordered and zipped my rear up to grab some goodies. Very nice selection and everything was fresh, even down to the real bacon pieces! Husband ordered a burger (sucker) and he said it was "alright". Will I visit this place again when we pass through Mt. Sterling, yes, for the salad bar.

Went recently after not visiting for a while and thought it was quite good. Beer cheese was great, food was quick and fresh. May stop by today. Highly recommend.
Found this place in old decrepit downtown, but what a treasure. I had the special: pork chop with apples, paired with grilled squash and twice baked potatos. Also a bowl of potato soup. Wow...everything was delicious. I could have made a meal of the fab squash, a little spicy and wonderful grill taste. Oh and don't forget the biscuit.....yum. Just wish I was going to be in town for one more day and eat there again.
What a great find! I stumbled into this place on a trip through Mount Sterling, and was quite satisfied. I had the roast beef and it was absolutely delicious. The service was extremely friendly, and overall for what we had, it was very well priced. I'm not sure when I'll be swinging back by this town, but I'll definitely be stopping back if I'm in town.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Reviews:
This restaurant I became a fan of, NOT because it was just a dining experience, but because it was also a work experience. Let me explain: Since I work part flex time with an inventory agency, I went here last night, into today, to inventory their backroom and sales floor. During the inventory, this business was probably one of the few, I have been to, (other businesses being markets) that fed our entire team. They had out four different kinds of pizzas, buttered corn, and stuffing. For drinks, it HAD to be their ice tea, which they probably always tout, as their signature beverage. Everything was piping hot and it just really made me want to stay there and do an excellent inventory. Granted this should be a review, entirely on the food; however, I rate them mostly because of their willingness to treat another business well. It probably shows a lot on how they treat their customers day to day. Very cool.
I live within walking distance of Cracker Barrel but I rarely eat there because it's terrible slow and they have NEVER given me an order exactly as I placed the order. It seems to me that when you order something as TAKE-OUT that the restaurant should make sure your order is correct before they give it to you. It seems like a TAKE-OUT order should ALWAYS have plastic silverware IN THE BAG when you pick it up. The management of this restaurant doesn't seem to care if you're satisfied or not because I called and complained after about 3 mistakes in a row. The problem is that it didn't help one bit because they've screwed up every order since then as well. I only wish I didn't live in Mount Sterling because there isn't a single restaurant here that serves great food. Not one. The Waffle House is probably the best place in town...what does that tell you? If you're starving to death while traveling and come across Mt. Sterling KY as you drive along Interstate 64 do yourself a favor and KEEP DRIVING... there's nothing but sad food here. Sorry to offend any residents but the truth hurts.
Traveling. If nothing else, you know a Cracker Barrel will be consistent. I wanted to try one of the lunch specials that have been plastered on the billboards lining the interstates. Didn't realize certain days have certain items. Sorry, I know it is CB, but I didn't want chicken and dumplings or turkey and dressing or gravy. I almost ordered the salad and soup, but the soup options were the same. CB: Grease, fat, butter, lard. Has anyone noticed most of the food at CB is brown or bland in color. What happened to fresh salads? Original side dishes? I realize CB caters to older folks and buses, but older folks like salads, fresh fruit, and bread other than biscuits or cornbread. What about the younger clientele? Of course, looking around the restaurant, other than my wife, son, and me, there was only one other person below the age of 50 in the establishment (other than a few of the employees). I stopped, for the most part going to Bob Evans restaurants because of the bland and unoriginal menu items. Now that I have jogged my memory, BE might have CB beat. As for this particular location. Friendly enough employees. Food was okay despite my comments above. I had the Reuben, fries, and cole slaw. The other members of my party ate the traditional CB food. As a side note, why are the floors, chairs, tables, and restrooms never really clean at a Cracker Barrel?

Hardess has the best burger in town, and the best breakfast. My husband always get the $5 big lunch deal -- you really can't beat it. I just want them to bring the fried pork chop biscuit back.
Food is mediocre at best. Come here in the morning for coffee because it's all you can drink if dining in. Unlike McDonald's, you are able to serve yourself and have access to the cream and sugar. Decently clean and great customer service! Normal expectations from a fast food chain. Pretty popular in the morning.
Mile High Bacon Egg Cheese biscuit is not what you would think. It had chopped up bacon , almost like bacon bits. Very low quality bacon at the best. Definitely a 1 time purchase.

Sterling Lanes

My family has gone bowling here during the holiday season for the past three years. It's mainly because we gather at my grandparent's home out in the hills and this is the closest place from them. It's pretty much your basic bowling alley, but it does share a building with a small cinema, I think it has 4 movie screens. So you can go bowling and to a movie without leaving the building. The alley has 16 lanes, a small arcade, and a snack kitchen with hot food like pizza and chicken tenders. The facility is older and that shows, but overall it does seem clean, but grungy. Don't be fooled by the non smoking signs, they have them posted, but they allow smoking and even pass out ash trays. If you take kids, I'd avoid going right before or during the league play as the place quickly fills with cigarette smoke. Overall this is a decent place to go if you need some entertainment, especially with a large group. Be sure to ask about group rates as we found that to be cheaper than paying for 4 lanes for an hour.

Kenny made me a pancake that makes all other pancakes wish they had never been born. I'm going to name my first child Kenny. Jerry must give this man a raise and a puppy.
I can't believe this place is in business. If you like instant mashed potatoes, over cooked frozen fish, and brick hard boot leather tasting steak then you're in luck! I truly feel sorry for the elderly folks who have no better place to go eat. If you enjoy FOOD avoid this place with all your might. Short, sweet, and honest. This restaurant is absolutely terrible.
I had to update this to 2 stars from 3. My dinner was fine but my wife's catfish had a titanium/cornmeal coating. To hard for even Jaws, of James Bond fame, to chew up. Most of the both seats are in very poor shape and need repair. Evidently the servers do not pass on their tickets and ours was given to us early as the shift was changing. Our new server did continue to check US and offered desert but we were done at this point. Jerry 's is not what it used to be.

I'd give this place 1/2 a star if it were possible. This is the 3rd time I've eaten at this restaurant and now it finally gets the review it so richly deserves. This place is terrible. I forget the name but I ordered a chicken dish with penne and it was supposed to be cooked with white wine and the chicken looked like they boiled it in water... Gigantic pieces of green pepper and tomatoes were thrown in there with a few pieces of mushroom, penne pasta, and the 'boiled' chicken... It was utterly disgusting. My wife ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the pasta was mushy, overcooked. The meatballs were tasteless and dry. The service was pitifully slow and half rude. I don't understand how this place stays in business because, frankly, their food is tasteless, not AT ALL authentic, and they can't even correctly cook spaghetti. Don't waste your money dining (ha, that's a joke) in this establishment. There's a SUBWAY down the street with a sub that's more Italian than any of the 3 dishes I tried here and the sub tasted about ten times better than this crap. Yes, I'm being a little rough on Melini Cucina because they've basically robbed me 3 times out of my hard earned money. The bottom line is their food is either disgusting or tasteless.
Yummy Italian, even in Kentucky.
I have only been once, but my son goes a lot. He always gets the pizza wrap thing. We also got the italian cheese bread -- and that was amazing! I love the chicken alfredo - great quality dish. It does take a little while - I am assuming they cook to order so be patient and you will be happy with the quality.
