Best meal in Lexington area. Friendly service too. Grilled salmon was done to perfection.

Shortly after my husband and I moved to the area, our aunt decided to take us out to the Midway/Versailles area for some window shopping/horse country touring/distillery exploring. Our first stop in Midway was this sweet little restaurant for lunch. The restaurant itself is pretty cute and vintage-y, with tons of seating areas, including some on the lower level. I was pretty impressed with the interior decor and use of space. We sat outside on the delightful little patio, which was decorated with strings of lights. I decided to try the small plates: 3 for $15. My appetite wasn't very big and I wanted meatless options. I ordered the heirloom tomato with mini grilled cheese, the squash "gazpacho", and the shrimp boil. The grilled cheese was the only dish I was happy to get. The soup was wonderful and the mini grilled cheese was perfect. If that was the only dish I had, I would have been satisfied. The other dishes? When the squash gazpacho arrived, I was disappointed to see that it was a green, soupy dish instead of some kind of pile of veggies. I tried it, hoping it would be good, but didn't like it at all. Fortunately, I was able to send it back and 'replace' it with the house salad. It was just a normal house salad. Nothing special. And the shrimp boil? I missed the part in the menu where it included sausage (nothing in the menu said anything about sausage). A sausage soup for someone wanting to avoid meat? Oops. I did, however, eat the potatoes that were in the soup and those were pretty good. So... I ordered three soups. Oops, again. Good job, Laura [not]. If the soups had been yummy, then ordering three soups would have been OK; however, they weren't my taste. Bummer. Everyone else at the table liked their food -- burgers & beer. I'm sure this quaint place is a lovely place for a four- or five-star kind of meal. For me? Hmm.... just not my kind of place.

My husband and I sat at the bar for a couple cocktails. The bar is beautiful and the bartenders were good at mixing their signature drinks. We decided that we would grab a couple appetizers and then possibly dinner. We placed our order and everything came out hot and fairly quickly. The fried pickles and the dill sauce were delicious. However, when I unwrapped my napkin it was filthy. It had some sort of dried sauce or ketchup on it, something that should not have been missed!!! After that I was done.

This is such a quaint spot to eat. We came in with an unexpected large party. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The bar downstairs had live music which was nice as well. This is a great place to come for a nice intimate meal with good southern food. Make sure to try the Hoppin John. It's fantastic!

This is my 3rd time at this establishment. They have changed their menu, which I feel wasnt a very good decision. They had a great variety before, now there is really nothing healthy on the menu. It has resorted to more bar food. I loved the kale chips before and the variety, however now the food is very ordinary and I wasnt impressed. The look of the place is great and so is the bar, just wish they hadn't changed their menu.

This place is a diamond in the rough-- but it's still a bit rough. My fish was excellent, but it sat atop braised swiss chard-- too bad all I could taste was garlic. And the sauce that was on the plate had been put on ages before the fish, so it (and the plate) were ice cold. The coconut cream pie was delicious, except for the store-bought crust. As I said, this place could easily be 4 or 5 stars, but some of the rough edges need a bit of attention first.

Best 1st experience ever at a small restaurant--and in quaint Midway! I had the BEST thick pork chop topped with Granny Smith apple chutney served with butternut squash gratin. Asked for grilled zucchini instead of asparagus which they accommodated without an issue. Husband ordered chicken penne pasta-roasted chicken, cauliflower and butternut squash sautéed in brown butter, parmesan, chiffonade sage. Best he's ever had. The young chef, fairly new addition to the restuarant, is a graduate of Sullivan Culinary. I told our very personable server that he (chef) should win an award for this regionan dish. His own creation. Can't wait to return with my sister and her husband, both whom want to check it out. After dinner (or before), check out the pub downstairs. Great cozy bar space to enjoy while watching UK game or to just hang out with friends. Nicely done Midway. Went on a weekday so it wasn't very crowded. Great and cozy decor. Our only concern: both dishes are probably seasonal and probably not year round on menu.

Awesome again. My god, if you are going to get anything here, get the caesar salad. It is just fantastic.

If you're ever in the Bluegrass definitely check this spot out! The food is great- the chefs definitely know what they are doing. First of all- Midway is your classic "mainstreet America" town. It's an adorable little place with antique stores and small boutiques. Not at all a place you'd expect to find fine dining....BUT....here you have 815 Prime. I've been here a few times and have eaten a few different things. The catfish is excellent, as are the burgers. I asked for it rare and I got it rare. And fucking delicious. Oh and make sure you try the beer cheese and potato salad. I gotta say something about beer cheese. I'm from Washington DC and the idea of "beer cheese" honestly sounded fucking nasty. But on a friends urging I tried it and seriously it's fucking great. I'm addicted. I could gain 20lbs just eating beer cheese. The owner Rob makes a fucking excellent beer cheese. Seriously. Eat it. And then once you're done with dinner head downstairs to the bar. Great place. The bartenders are awesome and really know their shit. If you have any questions about wine and bourbon they will help you out. That's great for me....cause I love a good glass of wine but I'm kind of retarded when it comes to that stuff. Again, a total surprise when it comes to such a small town. Very chill vibe in this place. Excellent food. Great service. Hit up this spot if you're ever around the Bluegrass. What a pleasant surprise!

My friend ordered the Steak Frites and was generally pleased. I had the burger. It was served on a brioche roll that gets soggy seconds after cutting into the meat. The fries were good, but not enough to make up for the burger disappointment. At least they served KY Bourbon Barrel Ale!

The evening didn't start promising - we were seated immediately but somewhat forgotten for 15 minutes as the one server was taking care of everyone else's bill. When she did get to us, she immediately listed all the things they were out of - pretty much everything we had planned on ordering. So we recalibrated and ordered from what they did have. That said, we did enjoy our dinners. I started with a small caesar salad that came with boquerones (which I think are like anchovies or are a variety of anchovy - but less salty than the anchovies I'm used to. They were very nice though.) Two of us had the bone-in pork chop with black cherry reduction and grilled asparagus - The pork chop was huge and perfectly cooked. Another had the special Linguine with Shrimp and thoroughly enjoyed it. For dessert we split the homemade caramel apple pie with ice cream and loved it as well. I will definatly give this place the benefit of the doubt and come again - hopefully I'll get those to try the steamed mussels and eel sushi roll that we wanted.
