Nice bar! I was here in 1995' when it just started! They've grown 300% since then! Nice place! What can I say? It's a bar!

On a weekend afternoon we went in and ordered a sausage mushroom pizza. Around 15 minutes after we ordered our server informed us "we're out of mushrooms". So the order went in as just a sausage pizza. After a very long time our pizza came out *(we and one other table were all that were there so there was no reason or explanation for the time delay) and the server then told us "we found some mushrooms". I probably should have known then and there what was to happen. We both remarked to each other that the pizza had no flavor. And then it hit me, we had nothing but ground hamburger, unseasoned, no sausage. We told our server and her reply was "it was supposed to be sausage" and nothing more came of that. Within an hour I was sick to my stomach, shortly thereafter my husband got nauseously sick. Our evening plans were ruined as we both had burning pains in our stomach. I made a comment on their FB page regarding our issue, it was deleted. I made another comment on their FB page, it again was deleted. This time however, they decided the appropriate action was to delete me from their FB page. I hadn't made a production, no foul language, no bad mouthing. I commented that our pizza didn't come out right and that we were both sick after eating. You would think a professional organization would take some kind of action and would actually like to know that there is a problem in the kitchen. No, not so much. I then messaged them privately about how unprofessional their actions were. And the response I received back was that their FB page was for promotional comments and upcoming events. I don't guess they realize that FB isn't for just what they want it to be and that a company has to take the good with the bad. Very unprofessional, poorly run. I've gone there for many many years, without complaint or issue. You have one problem and say something and they delete you and the history you have with them as a customer. A company I'd ever trust again? I think not.

Me and a Bud went over to Joe's for a change of pace and watch the Yankees begin their trek to another World Series title. The beer was reasonable so we thought we would try the food.I got the grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. It was good enough that I had to share it with my friend in exchange for one,or two, of his potato skins which were fine but no where near the quality of my B&C sandwich. An older gentlean, but not near the age of dirt, recommended we try the prime rib sandwich next time.Maybe we will. The bartender came around to serve us as many times as the Phillies rounded the bases.Gotta take the good with the bad.

Great casual dining. Nachos are loaded with chili, cheese, jalapenos, onions..they are wonderful. Husband had the hot BBQ wings and commented that they were actually spicy! Great service, watched the game, highly recommend.

Initially was skeptical of this place. However, everytime I go I have a great time. The outdoor area is wonderful. Never had food but it seems the bartenders have heavy hands which is always appreciated. Solid diveish bar.

I used to frequent Joe's a lot several years ago. They had the best chicken tenders! I would get the platter which came with two sides. My choices were always the mac-n-cheese and broccoli cheese rice casserole. They also had a terrific fish sandwich. The fish had a nice crispy batter and was a huge portion. Unfortunately JOTD has gone downhill since those years. I don't know what they've done to their menu but it's not as good (no chicken finger platters anymore and the fish only comes one way). On this recent visit I ordered the fish and subbed a side of mac-n-cheese for chips. The fish was ok. Nothing special. The tarter sauce had a funky sweet flavor. Not my fav. The mac-n-cheese was flavorless. It was like they got a pot and added noodles and generic plastic-like Velveeta. Yikes! Also, our server obviously wasn't in a hurry. Lots of Feet scuffing about. Lol! The only reason I'm giving them a three instead of a two is because their new pretzel and beer cheese is tasty and the chicken fingers aren't bad, but still not as good as the old ones (had this on the visit before last). The honey mustard and fries are decent too. Plus like I said, JOTD used to be "my place". Loved the neighborhood bar feel and the outdoor patio. If on my next visit things haven't improved I'll have to decrease my rating by a star. The prices also seem to be higher. If you're going to make things pricier you would think the quality would improve. Nope. I personally wouldn't mind if they had kept the old menu and raised the prices some. Inflation over time is understandable but keep the food yummy. Please Joe's...go back to the old ways!

Joe's is a funky little hole in the wall worth a drive out to Lyndon. The regulars are friendly. There is always something fun going on. The drink specials are decent and I have never, ever had bad service. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but it speaks to the character of Joe's that the place is always so packed. The food is just bar food. It's nothing to write home about, but it's satisfying. I do love their lodge burgers for a quick burger fix. Catch a game or a late night meal at Joe's. You'll like the atmosphere.

The food is decent pub food, but service is bad. I went here to watch a game and they didn't have enough servers. We were told we'd have a server right over, but 15 minutes later no one had shown up. We used the bartender to order food and drinks and he kept forgetting things. I'll go back, just not during a game.

How can you not be completely charmed by all that is Joe's?! My husband used to frequent Joe's back before we met and we've been a few times in recent years. However, we've started to go more regularly to play trivia on Monday nights. The drink specials are really great and they have a pretty good beer selection. On the few visits where I've ordered food, I haven't been disappointed. It's nothing really special, but I really feel like you go to Joe's for the laid back, down home atmosphere. Apparently it's also a pretty good time on any given Halloween night!

I just don't get it. I really don't understand the allure of Joe's Older Than Dirt. The beer list, while extensive, doesn't have a ton that I want to drink. Maybe Guinness. Maybe Country Boy. Maybe Sam Adams. The $3 Sam Adams on Saturday deal is nice, though. The bros abound. Men in tank tops seem to be the main clientele. It's a "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "I Love Rock And Roll," "Sweet Home Alabama" -- and oddly enough "Macarena" ... yep, that was on the DJs rotation -- kind of place, where the waitresses call you "sweetie" or "honey" even though they are definitely younger than you. After a couple of visits, I can say that Joe's is not my scene. But you know what -- everyone there always seems to be having a great time. And it has a great outdoor patio space. Even if a place isn't my ideal night out, I am easy going (only a handful of negative reviews out of more than 300) and can appreciate a place for what it is. And Joe's is a fun night. Pour me a Bud Light, Brah, and let's play some beer pong! But -- a big but -- there are a couple of issues that go beyond Joe's not being my thing that make it just ... just no. If it weren't for these, I would have given Joe's a higher rating. First of all, the weird service. My boyfriend and I walked in, and after some time scoping everything out, we made our way to the bar and ordered some beers and found an empty picnic table to sit down at. And we waited for a bit. No waiter or waitress came by to say hi or much less take a food order. After a bit, I went to the bar and ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and then went back to my friends outside. I saw other waitresses walking around among the crowd, so I don't think ordering at the bar is someone's only option. A bit later, the bartender brought the pizza out. The underside of the pizza was still a bit gooey, which made holding a slice a no-go. But I didn't get any silverware or napkins, so that made things difficult as well. All in all, it was an unimpressive bar food choice and questionable service. But the real kicker wasn't the grub but the grubs. Yes. That's right. Grubs. Throughout the hour or so that we were there, huge larvae -- we think carpenter bee larvae -- fell out of the underside of the wooden outdoor table onto the ground. It was about a dozen grubs in total. They looked like shiny, oogy cashews on the ground. If someone set their glass down on the table too hard, a few more would plop out. Gross doesn't cut it. I hope that given the fact that so much of Joe's is outside that the management regularly sprays for bugs and is on the lookout for problems. There are so many great neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall bars to choose from in Louisville. Sorry, but Joe's isn't one of them.

Joe's Older than Dirt is everything you'd expect from a townie bar. The well drinks are cheap, the music is thumping, and the crowd is eclectic to say the least. Grab some darts from the bar or bring some spare change to shoot some pool. The place is lively until the wee hours of the morning on the weekend. I can't speak about the food as I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it's typical of bar food. The dance floor is open and there's plenty of space. The crowd ranges from the fun loving youths to those trying to recapture it. I'm pretty sure I saw a few broken dreams there, but I digress. It was overall fun and entertaining. I'd definitely go back, but I probably won't be a frequent customer as it's a bit out of the way.

I met a friend for a bball game that was going to be on every tv in the bar. Waited 10 minutes for the bartender to serve me although I was sitting at the bar, 10 minutes after the game started they finally turned the tvs to the game so we could see it. 30 minutes after that we were asked to move outside since there was a reservation in a section near us? Don't worry I won't be back, I don't like spending money on a regular basis with companies that don't want my business!!

We arrived shortly after 7 pm on Monday, August 11, 2014. We waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for our waitress to appear. It was already obvious she was over worked and short handed on the patio. It was trivia night inside and that is obviously where Joe's Older than Dirt focus was. We were a family with grandchildren and it was obvious we were being ignored. We placed our order and then had a hard time getting drink refills. We finally got served about 9 pm. My catfish came along with my partners cheeseburger platter. Rather than getting gently brown catfish filet, I got what looked like a blackened, batter dipped crust with a hint of catfish. The cheeseburger was dry and tasteless. It took so long to get our food, the waitress suggested submitting another order for our Philly Cheese steak sandwich because the first one would be cold. The best thing on the table was probably the children's chicken nuggets. That's really sad. We know the waitress, Lindsey, was trying her best but the kitchen staff was really making her look bad. Joe's needs to fire everyone in the kitchen then hire new staff and pay them better. This visit was disgusting and pitiful. We will not be back. Sad. Came here for a business group meet and greet and the patio accommodated our group just fine. We probably had 25-30 people in attendance with our group. The beer selection on tap was amazing! Prob had over 20 draft beers to choose from. We ordered the nachos, NOT IMPRESSED! Dry, skimpy on the toppings and adding more jap peppers does not make up for having no cheese and light chili. Our server was efficient, however they should have given us another server considering the size of our group. Can't say I will be back, but the beer was cold and refreshing!

Exceptional selection of bourbon and craft beer. Plus, the best wings in town. It's their own dry rub and takes minimum 30 minutes, but worth the wait. Great place to watch a game too.

"So, how long have you worked here?" I asked the wizened bartender as he wiped down the bar with a washrag. I was waiting for the rest of my party to arrive and felt like I needed to be making conversation. Joe's is a type of place that you want to converse in, not sit and nurse a drink by yourself while waiting for everyone else to arrive. He looked up at me quizzically before replying, "Young lady, how old is dirt?" Well, not as old as Joe's, if you take their self-proclamation seriously. This place is fantastic. Stepping inside, it's wood-paneled and full of all manner of memorabilia that have accumulated since its inception, I'm sure. One of my first impressions was that this place looks like a set from a Cohen brothers movie. It walks the line of nostalgic and irreverent, hitting some target that is probably hiding in plain site among the collection of tchotchkes on one of the tavern's walls. Service was not great when I went (my first trip), but I think it was due to the server and not the kitchen being backed up. Also, my bourbon on the rocks was more like ice water with a drop of bourbon in it. It was barely amber-tinted and went down like water, all indicating that I got short-shrifted on my libation, which was not poured by the wizened bartender described above. Still, I fell in love with the ambience here and would definitely give it another go.

This is a great place to bring a group and watch games. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. However, be careful what you order. Their nachos are good and they make a good chili. However, our meal tonight was really poor. My daughter's veggie burger was dry and flavorless and arrived without the advertised tomato, lettuce and onion. Mac and cheese was decent. However, the green beans were cold and floated in too much water with pieces of ham.they were also shredded. The potatoes in potato saad were undercooked, the sauce was runny and had no flavor. The broccoli casserole was frozen broccoli pieces with a cheese sauce that resembled Campbell's soup. My husband's pizza was also disappointing. They use a thick processed crust and pretty tasteless sauce. He was hungry, but only ate a couple pieces. There is karaoke two times a week, so we had to endure that as well. Food took a very long time to come out. I will be back, but won't order anything but nachos or chili!

This is a great place to do just about anything. Love the building and the tree growing through it. Shot...I met my wife here, of course I have to like it! LOL

Not bad. Large place, a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Plenty of TVs for sports. Ultra casual. At lunchtime it was kid-friendly. Reasonably priced although not as cheap as I expected. Sandwich plates around $7.50 to $9, platters $9-11. The chips are homemade style and extra crunchy. That's a good thing. Food was tasty, served promptly. Water kept filled. So why only 3 stars and not 4? Because it drives me nuts to order a "Philly" cheesesteak and have it come out looking like they didn't even attempt to imitate a real Philly cheesesteak. I'm willing to give leniency for not having the right rolls but chunks of steak with steak sauce is not a Philly cheesesteak. It was good and filling but quit calling it a Philly and even vaguely getting my hopes up.

I have been here twice on the last weeek, once for lunch and once for dnner. I have passed by this place everyday when I take my son to pre-school so I finally dropped in. The food is good, they make it to order so don't think this is dash n / dash out kind of a place. The service at lunch was slow, which was surprising since there were only 6 tables of folks in there, I think the kitchen plays a part in this. I had a burger that was definitely made by hand, it was cooked to my liking and did not have the bland meat taste of so many other burgers. They have house made chips which are very good as well. Later that week I told my wife I had been there and she asked how it was, I said it was very good and a nice atmospere. We went there when her Dad was in town a couple of nights later and we hit the place at 6 PM (right in the middle of Happy Hour), the place was buzzing with the 2 inside bars and 1 outside bar in service. I thought to myself the service would not benefit from such crowds. We had a different server than my lunch experience and this guy was on it, he kept our glasses full (Iced teas and water) and the food came out in perfect timing, allowing for the cooking of the dishes. My Father in law and My Wife had the chicken breast and said it was NOT over cooked and still had flavour and moisture (this is rare). Everything was great I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was a generous portion and had good flavour. So for a good meal at a good price, check this one out, the decor is cool and story behind the place is very interesting (no spoiler here).

This place is big enough that you can hide but small enough to feel like a neighborhood bar. The clientele always changes but it still feels the same. Prices are reasonable, service is good but not great. If they more of an effort to get to your order when walk in and less time talking among themselves or to the old drunk guy flirting with them or just taking up time then I would be happy. It is NOT fancy or classy or exceptable but you cant turn your nose up at it. The Food is american traditional and generous. It therefore makes up for it. Definitely worth the time and best of all its within stumbling distance from homes

Can't speak for the food as I haven't tried it yet. It is a nice neighborhood bar if you want to have a few drinks
